"And Douglas County or pushing the school district to return kids and teachers to the classroom. In fact, there was a rally outside of the Doug Coast School headquarters in Castle Rock yesterday ahead of a school board meeting on the issue last night. Jamie Wooldridge has four Children and Doug Coast schools and is part of a group that wants kids back in the classroom and joins us now, Jamie. Good morning. Thanks for coming on with us. Good morning, Jim. I just wanna get a baseline you You obviously believe in the severity of covert 19. Is that correct? Oh, yeah, of course. Okay. And so knowing that a your big thing is saying that I'm assuming our kids what you're you feel like they're losing, learning in transition, Or do you feel like that? The risks are are okay enough for the kids to go back to school. Well, I think that we know that this is a really unfortunate virus that exponentially effects older adults and elderly a lot more than it does younger people. I think that the death rate for you know those under 20 is less than one person. It's like a point whatever percent. Um e think the death rate for covert and Colorado for those 60 60 and up is 90%. So that means the majority of teachers are honestly safe. And kids are are basically safe. I'm not saying that they don't get it. I think that we all know that it's real. But I think that a lot of the precautions the safety precautions, but I couldn't place show us that Are awesome. They show us that schools are one of the safest places to be. The state has changed their guidelines. They're less crippling their less restriction. The quarantine. Times have been dropped. I think you know kids are great. They follow the rules. They've been doing what we've been asking of them for the last 10 months. They're great mass squares, they social distance. No, they We can ask them to do certain things and they'll do it whereas other adults and you know the rest of our community, our society just sometimes they don't do that. Okay. They're great at following the rules, and they're doing what we say so state schools there. Really showing that there is that one of the safest places to be. So you know that in addition to all the things that we're seeing a star's the academic decline and the You know, the social emotional Struggles and, you know, suffering that the kids they're happening having right now. It's just I think that for all those reasons we we understand that the virus is real. But we think that you know there could be a Um, you know, We can. We can accomplish both. We can we can be safe and And get kids back in school the same time, Jamie I've got a kid in middle school in Douglas County, and I cannot wait for him to go back to school. We're all just were also over it. But I also follow on Facebook, a Douglas County parents page and I'm sure your you follow that pages. Well, here's what I've noticed on that page. The teachers who are saying I do not want to go back. It is not safe for me to go back. Um, why are parents demanding? I go back? This could be my life on the line. What do you say? Yeah, of course. Parents want their kids to go back. Of course, kids want to go back. What do you say to teachers, though? Who feel that way? Well, I'm actually in educator myself. Esso. I understand those sides of it. I took this year off to be home with my four kids because we just didn't have a choice. They You know, I knew that I have one of each level and I just knew that there was no way that we were going to be able to do all of the above, with remote learning, transporting with no transportation. You know, just all the different needs so I can see the educator side. But like I said, previously I think that we've seen the data. It shows that teachers are basically safe. I mean, if they cannot hear To the requirements in the different, you know, guidelines that CD CD phe and Tri County health or put forward You know, they have all the peopie that they need. The governor has been so great in terms of providing all of that to teachers. They have all the canned 95 mask today, possibly could need masks or I mean, a shield loves whatever that they need. If they do that, Even if they're in the room with me and all of this feeding, you know guidelines. Uh, They can. They can all be in the same room together and they can still be safe. I mean, even if there was a sick child I think we just need to quarantine kids that are people that are actually sick. Not just if you're within a room with somebody that might be sick. I mean, there's no way there's no way that Well, they're going to be able to see in session. Staffing would be the shortage. Is there going to be Anywhere that would be. You know, Jamie is we were just We have some limited time and I apologize. I wanted to ask what's the reaction from the administration been to your protest? Are from the board. Yes. You know, I don't know. I actually spoke during the meeting as well. Last night. I've done it, you know, before most of the public commenters last night were in favor of returning Tonto. Returning the kids to school, least in the hybrid situation. It's not full time. I think you know the majority of people think that it's safe. I hope that the board was able to hear us. I think that they did. I think that the board is trying their best. I just think they've done a great job returning the elementary kids to school thing. Thank goodness that happened yesterday. I haven't ever to elementary kids myself, and that's wonderful. But I just We just hope that the Secondary. Kids are not going to be left behind and we know that they need to be in person and, you know, see their teachers and their friends as well, Jamie. Thanks so much fruit for joining us and giving us your perspective this morning. We sure appreciate it. Yeah, Thank you. As the days and weeks were on you still continued to call law enforcement locally and across the country continue to comb through over thirty five hundred tips and the family never gave up hope last night. Our collective promise was fulfilled, Jamie, safe recovery. Thank you to all. Joining me today. FBI special agent. Justin, tom. Just call Wisconsin attorney general Brian from those -sconsin department of criminal investigation. Barron county district attorney TA DA Ryan, right? Diane Tremblay on a message from the school, and please respect their respective. No media on school property today. Please this case remains a team effort from the beginning. And I'll never be able to think all the agencies and businesses individuals that help on this case with their singular focus to bring Jamie home yesterday. There was a lot of confusion with an Iranian social media post about thirty four thirty PM in Walworth county. This was an incident in Walworth county. But in no way had connection to this case as reported on Facebook. Shortly after I posted that Jamie was not involved in the war county incident. My detectives were alerted a nine one one call out being given out in Douglas county. Responding to a person claiming they had phoned, Jamie. I'm now going to bring up sheriff, Tom doll Beck. The Douglas county sheriff he'll address this part of the the incident sheriff, thanks Chris. My agency received a nine one one call about four thirty yesterday afternoon from the individual who was walking her dog. Said she was approached by a young female claiming to be Jamie Kloss, this lady immediately went to a nearby house notified that neighbor of the claim and this neighbor called nine one one and Mike. Yep. Yep. He's responded en masse immediately and identify Jamie as the person that approached the neighbor took control of her and possession of her put her in safe-keeping and a short time later one of my patrol sergeants happened to find a vehicle that matched the description that Jamie gave my deputies of the suspect and pulled the vehicle over and took the suspect in custody at that time. Beyond that Jamie was taken to a local hospital up in Duluth superior area where she was. Looked over and examined and she was held overnight for observation and the suspect was interviewed and subsequently brought back down here to Barron county. That's all I have right now. Thank you sheriff doll Beck. And thank you deputies for the work that they helped in this case. The suspect arrested was arrested in is currently being held in the barren county jail. That's suspect is Jake Thomas. Patterson P A T T E R S O N. He is twenty one years old from Gordon, Wisconsin. He's currently being held on two counts of first degree intentional homicide for the murder of Jamie's parents and one count of kidnapping, Barron county district attorney Brian white. We'll give a brief comment next. Thank you. Thank you sheriff, Gerald, first of all I wanna thank everyone with law enforcement for the tremendous work. That they did to bring Jamie home that starts with sheriff FitzGerald and the Barron county sheriff's department. It includes the FBI the division of criminal will live update on the discovery of Jamie Kloss, thirteen years old and his constant. She was found alive yesterday after being held captive for three months. Her parents were found murdered back in October how brave determined and dedicated these men and women are. It has truly been an honor to see the work that they have performed as public servants to this community. It was only a few months ago that we as a community gathered to pray for Jamie's safe return at Barron highschool. Got his answered those prayers. The case will now be referred to the district attorney's office. Our office will review the reports and then make a charging decision. It is my intent to have a criminal complaint filed by next week. It is our job in prosecuting this case to obtain Justice for James Denise and Jamie, close we will do so. Thank you. Thank you. Dear right. This remains very active in fluid as we stand before you today, we have FBI DCI state patrol Douglas county. Investigators in Barron county detectives actively working seen conducting interviews so details will be sparse right now. We do plan at four PM media update with more details to be released at that time right here as you heard the charges of suspect. The suspect is being charged with kidnapping Jamie was taken against her will in escape from a residence at which she was being held in found help. We also do not believe that this time that the suspect had any contact with the family. We do believe Jamie was the only target. I can tell you that the subject planned his actions and took many proactive steps to hide his identity from law enforcement and the general public next. I want to invite some partners to take a few Cup to make a few comments. Again, these ages. Nsee step forward coming here never gave up hope and became part of our community. I can never thank them enough. I I'll bring up special agent in charge of the FBI, Justin tala male. Invent sheriff again, I am just a Tommy I'm the FBI special agent charge. The Milwaukee division, which covers all of Wisconsin. We are so pleased to stand here today with our fellow law enforcement partners to celebrate Jaime's recovery. It is an incredible day. As the sheriff said this case was challenging given the proactive steps the subject took to detection. In this case in cases, like this. We often need a big break was Jamie herself who gave us that break. We'd like.
