"Almost 6 ten on Wall Street time for the Bloomberg sports update brought to you by tri state out here's John stash hour. May for the mix of lost a lot of home games this season they've blown a lot of leads at the garden and they led Miami by 5 with 5 seconds to go and nearly lost the heat, hit a three pointer then in the turnover Tyler hero was nearly the hero, but he missed a game winning three pointer in the Nick survived. One O 6 one O four RJ Barrett who in the overtime of that recent launch of the Lakers sat on the bench this time led the Knicks with 30 points. Julius Randle scored 23. His season has been much better than it was a year ago when Randall's been named to play in the upcoming NBA All-Star Game Jalen Brunson did not make it and Brunson didn't play last night he was out sick. There was a nasty fight in the game between Memphis and Cleveland, Dylan Brooks, Donovan Mitchell that nearly spilled into the stands. Giannis sons of the count of 54 points and a comeback win from Milwaukee is third 50 point game of the past month, LeBron James had 26 in a Laker win. He now needs 63 points to become the NBA's all time leading score and unknown. Hank Lambeau ranked 420th. Has the lead after shooting 63 opening round at pebble beach. It's Super Bowl 57. It's the first where both quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Jalen hurts are African American in Kansas City, mahomes was asked about the significance. So be on the world stage and have two black quarterbacks, start in the Super Bowl. I think it's special. And I've learned more and more about the history of the black quarterback since I've been in this league and the guys that came before me and Jalen set the stage for this and now I'm just glad that we can kind of set the stage for guys that are kids that are coming up now. Doug Williams was the first Super Bowl black QB. That was 35 years

"Now, and he's got to let a little crisp and a little swagger too that week. That's what he definitely did not have deer in the headlights. It was the opposite. No, totally. And I've gone through and I've got a whole research department that works on our show. And I like really put the screws to them this week. And I'm like, guys, we got to do something on purdy and historically speaking, like who's done it and there's no precedent for a quarterback after Thanksgiving who's never played before coming in and doing this. There's nothing. There's nothing close. There's some in the past. There's some Jeff hostetler. Way back. There was a couple. Yeah, give us a couple of them. You know, it started with Tobin wrote in the 57 Lions. We're not going to go back all the way there, but you said our morale and Earl merle, sorry. And then Doug Williams only started two games for that Washington team and Jay Schrader was the guy, but in the final regular season game, they benched him for Williams and he goes on the run. I mentioned hostetler. Foals came in and week 14 after the ACL. That was and then brought guys while they're kind of counts because it came in. But he's out for the playoffs. But the most comparable situation. And it's not Trent Dilfer 'cause he was a first round pick, and he came in after 9 weeks. Is Sean king? When he was. What was that 99? That was 99. They didn't finish the job, but Sean king came in after Trent Dilfer got injured in week 13 and was the number two for that Buccaneers squad and both of those guys go down so you lose both of them and it's still for desire. They're not able to go and Sean king comes in as a rookie out of tulane and he won some big games. He want to play off games. I bet on him. What's the money on Sean king? I finally remember him. You know, they were a burnt Emanuel play away, which he changed the rule on a Ricky pro catch away. But also very similar to this niners team. And who was the defense captain? Who was the defensive captain of that team? John lynch. John lynch, who is now the GM of the forty-niners, and I texted lynchi this week, and I'm like, is there any Sean king parallel? He goes, I know the Sean king's story very well. I'm not going to make a parallel to that, but off the record. Now it's on the record.

"Eo Yes, Jodie Mack gear. Carrington. Harrison's coming up next We did the flip flop thing. I got to acknowledge one of my Twitter see her. She's not going to get Mac Daddy tweeted today, which he has one before. Remember, but not for this one. Hey, Mac, Man, we're on board today for a double shift until we fall asleep tonight. He's a loyal listener who falls asleep to be often. I'm guessing not the first woman to ever fall asleep on me often, but that's okay. Andrea. Thanks for the kind words for saying Oh, you're okay with me doing eight hours. I'm not. My four was enough for the day. Others will get tired of me. They're tired of me after the four hours, So I'm not going to ask them to put up with eight Carrington coming up at the top of the hour. We just did a little flip flop thing today and I will be on my usual time tomorrow, which is same bat time. Same Bat channel as today. 6 to 10 eastern. So you get me back here tomorrow And as I mentioned earlier, a couple more NFL previews are last weekend to do so for teams that have a chance to make the playoffs and maybe a super Ball run. We're going Ravens tomorrow and Cowboys tomorrow Cowboys a little bit of a stretch, although most outlets bang outlets, the team that is favorite right now to win the division. The NFC least, is The Cowboys close Redskins of Cowboys Cowboys Redskins are one and one a drop down a little bit, The Giants dropped down a little more to the Eagles. Eagles could win that division. It's that wide open a division giants could win that division. I'm not a big Daniel Jones fan. That's why I won't pick them. But it's not outrageous. They finished one game behind the Redskins last year, and if the Eagles had been able to win that last game, but they pulled Jalen hurts from and went to Nate. Sudden felled, not one more Carson Wentz appearance. No. They took the two guys that actually started for them games last year, boats still healthy standing on the sidelines, it said. No, let's throw Nate said Feld in there, and the Giants fans got all bent out of shape giant players and their coach to also said that it was unprofessional with needles did when you're six and 10 you finished the year six and 10 and someone doesn't lend you a helping hand on the last week of the season. That's on you for going six and 10, not on somebody else for not putting it up enough of an effort as far as your concerns. That's a wide open division. The Cowboys could certainly win it, which would mean they're in the playoffs. So we do a cowboy preview when I read Ravens preview Tomorrow. Here on CBS two portrayed. All right? I got a couple minutes left. Get into many calls. I can Tod from Tampa being one of them, Todd, Thanks for hanging on your on CBS. Sports Radio. Jodi, let's get down to business here and we go around the horn that will wind up with my buccaneers. She let me have the floor here for 62nd. I want to say Oh, you know, your match are still on a roll. We believe okay. My razor in the National league, so I am shouting out to them. Way to go, fellas want to still feel the vibe of my Back to back Tampa Bay Lightning titles over here and I want to say something about my man Graham, by the way on college football. I still want to see two Cinderellas. I can see what's happening here. They're going to put the alliance You're not in one of these conferences. You no matter if you go undefeated, and you beat, let's say Notre Dame or Florida. Let's say you're USF. Okay now, USF is down right now. But If they, you know they went undefeated. I don't want to see them get a shot. I'm just saying is, it's not. I want to see a small Cinderella's get a shot. And when his women he hit my buccaneers, you know they had the top 100 players over here, by the way are Buccaneers made history by the way. Nobody Jodi Evans said was selling Cokes at 14 years old when Doug Williams was quarterback, and we had John McKay. Okay, we lost. Oh, in 26. They were saying, throw McKay in the bay and then Doug Williams showed up who should be in the Hall of Fame by the way, only black quarterback to win a title and then so four touchdowns in one quarter for the red. Skin. And if John McKay, you know, and and so nobody loves it looks like I do. But let me say something about my boy Grant. All right, But hold on on before you get the ground. I gotta ask you something You mentioned John McKay and I give you credit for adopting all of your history, both good and bad. Very good of late. Not so good in years gone by. What was John Mcd face most famous quote. I'll. Um um at the What did you think about our execution? I'm in favor of it. What did you think about your players? Execution? I'm in favor of it. One of the greatest sports quotes of all time from John McKay. Yes, it was baby, but we kill we won't. But John McCain went to Eddie Robinson, one of the greatest black that cooked about coaches, College black any white white John Pip jetty Robinson, Bobby Bowden, Paul Bear Bryant. Nick Saban. You okay? And he went there and took and took Doug Williams to buy you Bullet baby we want on and John McCain. No, what he said after we lost find nothing to the Rams out at that game, and we got robbed again, but we but we we lost that game, he said. I should have. Let does open it up and go get and go deep and any we would we would have smoked them. But we just we didn't But anyway, that's why this history Making title in Tampa. You know, Jodi, what a rush. You know, Jodi, if you ask me, even though I'm I I love the bucks so much. I can't gamble because I'm so emotionally attached to him. But if you ask me what I thought should you pick the over 11.5 or the box to repeat, I tell you get the best dodge and and and and and take the bucks to repeat. That's what I would tell you. Why would Todd I would surely expect that from you, a guy who wears his buccaneer admiration on his sleeve the way that you do, I'm That shocked that you're picking them to win a championship again. And it's really legit. There. There are some people had picked their hometown team every single year just because that's their team and they wanted to come through and they believed by picking it will help them make it happen. Oh, the box, a real legit bucks and and heaps of the two favorites..

"Way back to jim plunkett when he was beaten up for years in new england and he was out of football for a few years while davis invited him back to sit the bench for the oakland raiders. And when mark davis Oh i forgot the quarterback for a byu mark wilson. I believe it was got to injure. That plunkett came in and turned the season around. They won the super bowl and he became a starter in a few years later. He beat the washington football team for his second. Super bowl resurrected his career. Doug williams when he was in tampa you know. He was burned out. His wife died of cancer during that time he was mentally emotionally physically. Burned down through a football. Joe gibbs offers him an opportunity to come back and play and he backed up. Jay schroeder and wish rate got hurt and. He wasn't really liked amongst his teammates. His leadership skills were lacking when williams got an opportunity to do some things. We we saw what happened on the greatest performance in football history considering the stage which was a super bowl where the washington. Football team beat beat denver. Thirty five seventeen. We're taking a look at someone like a nick foles. we're taking a look at someone like jeff hostetler. We're taking a look at someone like randall cunningham. When he came back to the minnesota. Vikings replaced brad. Johnson and help lead the vikings to a fifteen one record. So there's been plenty of examples of quarterbacks veteran quarterbacks who fought their time were opened was over and they gave it one more shot and people. Canada amounts at their careers over knee. They turned out to Half second acts were fantastic. I just don't see exactly where or in the president's future cam. Newton is going to get that opportunity arizona. Maybe match him with callard. Murray the only quarterback other than murray is a colt mccoy and they don't have the same skill. Set baltimore ravens insurance for the mark jackson. Seattle insurance for russell wilson maybe buffalo insurance for josh allen. If if things don't work out in new york with Daniel jones Denver carolina against houston. I don't know. I don't know we're just gonna have to wait and see what the season starts. What quarterback was starting quarterback is going to have a serious injury to wear. A quarterback is going to be needed. We've seen in the last couple of years. Aaron rodgers and such who have suffered season ending injuries. And that has you know that has A given an opportunity for the backup if that backup is going to be someone. Like a cam newton who knows he might be able to take advantage of that opportunity. Does world sports. I'm your host window wallace so glad that you could be with us. I want to move in in. I wanna talk about this rather quickly. About covert cova in the nfl and it's I don't know man the. Nfl pa had accepted the nfl proposal. To increase covert nineteen testing among players. Who are fully vaccinated fully vaccinated. Players will now be tested at least once every seven days up from once every fourteen days going to be offered the option of testing twice a week in those with vulnerable cohabitants and home can opt for daily testing. "Good job. Then your student nearly got 30 points. Not quite. That was a huge block by Ben a huge block. I couldn't believe he went with the deli meat instead of doughnuts, because if he didn't Block that she would have passed him. Yeah, so huge, And my mom would always say, Do you want that good daily meat for your sandwich? Meat over to skin with the points tripled. Yeah, it's huge. Just like Get amazed. Four. Can you get the fourth multiple drawers for 12 points. Who is the first NFL player to answer. I'm going to Disneyland and those popular commercials. Doug Williams, Joe Montagna, Marcus Allen, who is Colorado Rockies or Phil Simms? Wait a new Puma. Give it to me again, who was the first NFL player to answer? I'm going to Disneyland in this popular ads. Was it Joe Montana? Marcus Allen, who is Colorado Rockies or Phil Simms? I mean, I believe it was Joe Montana. Yeah. It was Phil Simms. Wow, skin. How is he Bungles 12 more points. That was that would have been 24. That would have kind of not really got me to be close at all. Uh, there would have been 12 would have been 89. Okay, Ben. Okay? Long will you hold on? Yeah, we have another surround. Don't tell him to hold on to No, no, no, not Santic 93 letter, right? Ben, Stand up in your corner. Fire off a shot. This will be a nine point shot. You're releasing into the Hey, man, Keith, say it differently. Get this right. Here we go. He went with a heavier ball. That's fine. Can you see if it goes into all right to go there, Christine, I'll do it for nine points. Ben does this and let it right. Just f y. I think he's cheating. Oh, what a long. Oh, we both get nine points if we get the rebound No, still try it, Christina. Stupid. Oh, Christina, The points are tripled. Oh, Ace in three years. Well, Cole Hamels being a five point bonus. Yeah. So 15 points as the points triple. She's up to 1 27 Oh, Ben 1 38 Christina 1 27 skins at 65 but still has a chance. And how much will you pay me to stall? No, There's no stalling. Here's his next card. Comey, Joseph Stalin, if you know what I mean, Queen. Oh,.

"It just It just knocked me on my rear end. Well, luckily for me, I'm a big water guy. Anyway, I try to drink up close to a gallon of water a day. Nice. So, um, I will be doing that. And hopefully my experience is not as bad as yours because I've definitely heard a lot of people say the same thing that you have, how it kind of knock them on their ass and then lay them out for a day or so. But I've also heard some people say, you know, it was fine. So you know, I'm hoping for at least somewhere in the middle, you know, And I've had people come up to me. Why would you take that shot? You don't know what they're putting in you. I said Look, I want to be able to walk in somewhere without a mask. Yeah. Listen, I've put worse things in my body. And you know, I'm not worried about this thing I was going to say the gallon of McCormick vodka that I drank outside of the dorm room when I was in college. Is a hell of a lot worse than whatever they just in check it exactly exactly can promise you that the gallons of E and J. Brandy that I drank throughout the years of college or the same night's special brews. I think those were a little bit worse than the medicine that our government has developer Pfizer has developed. I don't know what got us talking about this. Some of the bad quarterback matchups. Somehow we were talking about the Bears. And what happened against the Colts in the Super Bowl? I found an article that ranked the 52 quarterback matchups in the Super Bowl, and I want to go from back to front. The front ones. We all know. We know all the great ones Listen to some of these awful and this is going to be the worst. Literally. I'm not making this up, Kevin. The two were Super Bowl quarterback matchups. Both included the Bears. That seems about right number 52. It was Jim McMahon and Tony Eastern. Now, this was not Jim McMahon's problem. Tony East and stunk. Steve Grogan was the one that were He was the old quarterback for New England had the big, big neck roll that he was. But Jim McMahon was never considered. To be honest, He was never a superstar. Quarter a good quarterback. No doubt. Love Jimmy Mack. I had a chance. Start the Super Bowl when we were down in Houston. My buddy Dave Archer is actually really good Friends with Jim McMahon. We went over at their hotel and just hung out with them had dinner and drinks and listen to the two of them tell stories, and it was fascinating, but number 52 Jim McMahon, Tony Eason can considered the worst and a lot of it had to do with Tony East and going against That mayors famed 46 defense number 51 the one we were talking about Peyton Manning against Rex Grossman. Grossman in the game, had three turnovers, including a pick six that sealed it. You know how many games he started after that? Just eight? How do you go from the Super Bowl to only having eight more starts in your life, But that's where there were. It was wild because I remember that season very vividly, and he started off like a house of fire. I want to say the first you know, four or five games. He was fantastic and then Think a game against Arizona. He was just dreadful, never really recovered From there. It just became very much the defense carrying a team and William Devane restaurant special teams, of course to kind of carrying the load. But There was optimism for Rex early on because he started out hot. And then that balloon deflated quickly. Number 50 on worst quarterback matchups. Joe Theismann against David Woodley. Do you have any idea where David Woodley played NFL football? No, no, no, no, no. That would have been the 1982 Super Bowl between the Redskins and the Dolphins. Redskins win the game. 27 17 Dolphins should have won the game. Listen to this as far as a lie. Woodley completed a 76 yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Sefolosha, who's been doing TV in Miami for 35 years. In the first quarter, he completed just three passes the rest of the game. And did not complete a pass in the second half. Kind of hard to win a Super Bowl, even in 1982 not completing a second half past. So David Woodley, may he rest in peace. The next year, there was some guy named Dan Marino drafted. Think about that. You're the quarterback of the Super Bowl. You go to the Super Bowl, and they draft your replacement the very next year and let's just say David Woodley was no longer on. It was no longer a starter for the Dolphins. Much longer number 49. How about this for a terrible one? Terry Bradshaw. Really Good. Vince Farrago Mo. Vince Ferragamo. Who took over for an injured Pat Hayden 11 games into the year for the Los Angeles Rams back then, had him in the game at Pittsburgh won 31 to 19. Now. This one. You should remember. Terrible matchup Trent Dilfer and carry college. Oh, yeah. Oh, I mean, let's be honest, Trent Dilfer very easy to win a ring. When your defense is giving up like 2.5 0.6. He's probably the worst one to have to ever win a Super wide say right, at least in my I'm a little bit younger than you. But in my lifetime, certainly the worst ever win the Super Bowl either him or Brad Johnson, who won it for Tampa. They were both equally inept. And that was within just a few years of each other right? And both of them had like generational defense is Kerry Collins. By the way, it was absolutely terrible. I want to give you some of the other funny names. Are they rank Patrick Mahomes, Jimmy Garoppolo down there at 47th Jim Kelly against Jeff Hostetler, although it was one of the greatest Super Bowls ever. That's the one where the bills misses the game winner at the end. That was a year after we had gone to the Gulf War is really, really special Super Bowl in 91. Jeff Hostetler was a backup most of his career. John Elway. Chris Chandler. Alright, there you go. Falcons. Good job Having Chris Chandler is your starting quarterback That didn't work out very well. Steve Young against Stan Humphries, Chargers quarterback back in 1994 that was supposed to be Dan Marino and Steve Young. But the Dolphins blowing 19. Nothing lead. I believe against the San Diego Superchargers did not go well for Stan Humphries. They lost 49 to 26. This one was equal yucky Brad Johnson against Rich Gannon. Rich Gannon through, at least actually, I'm sorry. He threw three picks. Six is in the game three. And I think it was the MVP of the league that he was. He had a really good regular season. I remember. Yeah. Brad Johnson, a career backup who ended up going to the postseason winning there. Bob Bryan Bob greasy Billy Kilmer, 14 7. That one was terrible. Some of the old ones are really bad. Lynne Dawson against Joe Kapp. I've never even heard of Joe Kapp. No cap when I say I don't know who Joe Cap is. Tom Brady Nick Foles, which is a tremendous Super Bowl. Ended up being ranked 39th Tom Brady against Jared Goff. 40th see if I could find some other funny starts. How about Neil? Oh, Donald He threw a couple of pick sixes for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Back in the day, Jake the Lome was the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. Yuck! And they almost won That game should have wanted They got obviously a late field goal from the guy who never misses late Field goals and Adam Venit Terry Mark ripping against Jim Cat Port Jim Kelly. Should have won a Super Bowl. People forget Doug Williams while it was a historic Super Bowl because he was the first black quarterback to start and then go on to win a Super Bowl. Uh, he was not a great quarterback. He was actually the lowest paid starting quarterback in the NFL showed up and showed up. Obviously, with the Redskins and the rest, shall we say is history. Ron Jaworski. Jim Plunkett, That was terrible. Jaws is a great analyst was not much of a great quarterback Joe Namath against Earl Moral..

"Let's go. Speaking of Tampa, Let's go to Todd in Tampa. Tom, you're on CBS Sports radio. How are you staying? Let's get down to business, boss here. Let me just say something here to miss Cotton to Vincenti Lombardia pro football, So throwing the Lombardi Trophy. I authorized that to the seven time Super Bowl champion and have a good time and take a team of franchise That was over in 26, with which I've been here for two to the Super Bowl to your collar in Atlanta over there, earlier saying We had pieces. I'm Ajay. Ms. Winston Guy. I love Jamis. Winston, over Mario to coming out. But we wouldn't have won this without Tom Brady. Okay, The ability get three Great plays a Tom Brady made what he made one in the Saints game where we're flat five seconds left. He threw it in complete. Stop the clock. We kicked the field goal. 1 13 13. We want in the green play and we yet he got areas to go deep to Miller and then boom. That was a touchdown. That was a huge play. And then when he did have picks because for that didn't pick up the blitz. And he threw the ball in the ground, and we kicked the field goal to go up by eight. And Aaron Rodgers wouldn't have scored on our defense. Just like Kansas City. Then we came into Kansas City and boom where he fell on them. When we airmail the ball over his head. He fell on the football. Tom Brady wouldn't have one drink if we were if we would have lost that Super Bowl it for him. And for anybody, and no one loves Jesus, Tim Tebow don't love Jesus more than me and for him to have a good time and enjoy himself. God bless him because he did everything we could. I said he was gonna do and I called the Glazers want Season was over, and I said, if you get Tom Brady spend the 25 or 30 million till what will win the Super Bowl. And that's exactly what we did because winning isn't everything. It's the only thing Vincenti Lombardi. God bless you and go box because this was the greatest victory in the history of sports. Had we lost this game in Tampa? We would have never lived it down. And for Tom Brady to come through, by the way, and God blessed by Maj. John Lynch, my dad's favorite player who made the hall run, they should be in there, too. And if you're gonna put a quarterback input in Doug Williams, who started his career And sort through four touchdown passes in the second quarter and the only black quarterback out of 55 to make a peace man feel like a Jim Rome call and he was in and out. Todd in Tampa Bay fired up. I agree with what one thing, Tom said, And the caller that he's represents said that you could have brought in an above average quarterback and they would have won the Super Bowl. I disagree. I disagree everything that you saw from that team and it goes, it goes. Deeper than just off offensive performance. It goes deeper than just what the quarterback does. It's a mentality. It is a We're not going to continue to make those same mistakes. And they didn't look at the five games into the season. Seven games into the season. People were like, Yeah, Tom is probably mad that he went to Tampa Bay. Like all right, they may make the playoffs. Then they went 10 games. I don't want squat on disciplined right. Too many penalties and start number. Tom went off on that one game where they had I forget how many offensive line penalties they had. It was all game. And he went off and people made a big thing about it. Uh, Tom's going off doing it again. He's melting down and you know what happened after that? That was a different team. So you can try toe plug in play and say, Well, Tom's play, You could have gotten the same play out of somebody else, but that's not what it's all about. It's not just times play and how many touchdowns he through, By the way, it was amazing. Offensively all year. It's not just about that. It's the Tom Brady way it is. It's not. The Patriot waits the Tom Brady way He showed that he came and he changed a culture, a losing culture. Of the Tampa Bay box. If you get the next best quarterback on the on the On the on the market and let me know who you could have gotten after that. Look, it can Newton you keep Jamis Winston, but I mean, maybe you win nine games. You're not winning the Super Bowl. That defense that defense was that was the best part of that team. And it could be the best part of that team because Tom Brady was like a coach. He was like a GM. Gronkowski doesn't come to Tampa Bay is two touchdowns in the Super Bowl. Antonio Brown doesn't come to Tampa Bay. Look at the route Did he ran in the Super Bowl? That's Tom Brady. That's the Tom Brady effect. The wind that they had was the Tom Brady effect. We'll come back with some phone calls a couple people in the line. If it 5 to 1 to four, CBS, say 55 to 1 to 4 to 27. Also on the other side. This is your last chance to get in. If you want us to read your tweets, it's at John Marks. Media will read your tweets. And we will get to your phone calls on the other side. So don't you go anywhere? This is CBS Sports Radio. That's when it really started snowing. So be careful of everybody out there if you're affected by the snow, but just chill out, Sit back. Get the Super Bowl coming on tonight. Let's enjoy it. So let's let's go to the phones. Will talkto Mike calling from Boston, Massachusetts, Mike your old CBS sports radio. How are you? I'm doing pretty good a year, man. Yeah, I got you, man. What's up? All right. So this is Maura. There's more of Ah reason why I believe that you know, sports are just bigger than the game. Really? Um, remember simple 49. I was in Afghanistan on deployment and What if you my friends were from the Boston area and remember, we had just had our our leave cut. So we were supposed to be. We're supposed to leaving. Everybody was excited to leave. Yeah, this game started and everybody was Yeah, Nobody was really super excited, but Somehow, you know that fourth quarter happened and, you know, I remember Tom Brady and not Tyler and everything. The whole that fourth quarter alone just kind of for the rest of that deployment has made it easier for a lot of guys I think and me, especially You know, growing up. I mean, I've been Watch Tom Brady when his first football when I was in maybe first grade and you know, and to see it happen again and everything. It just it really did it made up made life a lot easier invaded. You know a lot of people a lot happier so That's probably one that I remember the most. That sample. I was listening to Lawrence Homes this morning it was on. He's on 6 to 10. L on Sunday mornings, and he he had he had a player on the mat. Bowen was it that was drafted the pic before Tom Brady was back in 2000. He's been he played his seven year career. He's been out the leak for, like 15 years. Tom Brady still playing. You know what I mean? It Z crazy. Tom Brady can still be playing any playing at this high of a level. What was it like Mike? What was it like watching the Super Bowl on deployment? Thank you, J d Brian, you're doing God's work Publicly. What? I will tell you privately. So you know, I had some money on Thank you. Some money on some NFL games, and I was a little stressed out during some of those games. For example, I had the Orleans the Saints. I had them at minus 11, and I noticed that the opposing team had scored a touchdown. I thought they're going to allow them to kick an extra point. Then it would have been a push, and I was gonna freak out. What happened there at the end of that game. Can you explain the ruling there? Yeah, That room was changed because of the Minneapolis miracle which you may be. I'm sure you guys remember And your listeners will remember was the amazing case. Keenum to Stefan Diggs touchdown that won a playoff game for the Vikings over the Saints. Ah, few years back, and, like the most dramatic fashion will ever see. And if you were called that game, you may recall the awkward Needed to take, you know, to bring the Saints back on the field for the extra point, which case Keenum, by the way, didn't even they just melt on the football anyway, and that involved the spread as well. But ever since that episode, where they had to bring the same back out of the locker room after they had just lost his miserable way, the NFL just said, You know what? When the clock goes to zero in these circumstances, let's just forget about the extra point. Had there been one second left on the clock. You would have gotten your that's so crazy man. That's unbelievable. What the hell happened last night in that Pittsburgh game against Cleveland? Because I've never have you ever seen the start of the game like that? I mean, I remember watching the Super Bowl and Peyton Manning didn't handle the staff, and I believe the start of that came before. Not mistaken was a safety this air. This was a touchdown. How I I understand that rocked this burger's not 100%. He's not very mobile these days and he didn't play the week prior. What would you say about Pittsburgh's performance, particularly the 1st 10 minutes of that football game, and it seemed to be over within the first five minutes of the game? Yeah, I mean, you cited the historical comp, I guess was that Peyton Manning Super Bowl. I mean, there was one other for those of a certain age. There was a Super Bowl that involved Doug Williams of the Washington football team were the Washington ball team at that time scored 35 unanswered points. In the second quarter, but never first quarter like this. I mean that that first snap over Big Ben's head. It just didn't look like bed, had any interest in trying to land on that ball and recovered. It was the weirdest thing. And, of course, Congress led by it, but 28 unanswered. I mean, more than even that start. It's just some of it. I mean, this weekend will always be remembered. I will always remember it as Which coach could outdo the previous one in terms of ridiculous decisions and sequences during games and Tom was, of course late was, you know, Got the 35 22. If you are Pittsburgh backer, you're getting a little excited about it. And instead of going for two to make it 11, they kick an extra point, which has made no sense whatsoever to take it down to 12. And then subsequently, that force and one right around midfield. First play the fourth quarter and they don't even try to go. Big side. Hey, let's try to draw him offsides. Stupid, ridiculous thing. I agree five players in motion. And so that was just one example. I don't know what we were watching last night, and that was the capture of a wild weekend. Could this be the end of Ben Roethlisberger's career? Could be. It might be time for him to be set out to pasture. That, of course, will be up to him. Oh, yeah, that's true. It is completely up to him. I just don't think he's healthy enough to go through an entire regular full season of football, But we'll have to wait and see. You never know. Clearly, he doesn't take care of his body as well. As like, say somebody like a Tom Brady or even a Drew Brees. For that matter. Speaking of Drew Brees. Wow, what a great game we got next week. I can't wait for this game. Of course, it's Tom Brady versus Drew Brees. The spread saints opened up a 3.5. It's now down to three Ah! My opinion on this game is I actually think the Saints are gonna win. I think the fact that Drew Brees has said this is going to be his last year. We know that Tom Brady's most likely get a return next year. This is going to be a really good football game that it's gonna be a tight football game. What do you see happening here? It's with one of the four games. You know, I do something every week where I say, What's the What's the spread? You would want no part of it. Typically, I do that during the regular season, when there's a full slate of games like if you had in the bizarro world. Take a side on every game, but you allowed one free pass. What's the game? You want no part of it. I think that's the one..
Report: Redskins' minority owners threaten to sell
"So the big debate was going on this weekend about. The Washington football team right and their new nickname, so if you don't know what's happening, the Washington redskins are probably going to change their name Adam schefter reporting that Fedex basically said all right enough is enough. Three of the minority owners which own forty percent of the team had told Daniel Snyder. They're out if he doesn't do it Nike has put pressure on them, so it's now happening. Ron, Rivera has finally put some pressure on them and by the way all the stuff. Did you see what Jeanie Buss tweeted about this greg? Now what she's saying. She was on July second, so it was right before the weekend and I re tweeted it for those that didn't get a chance to see as you can. you can see it at Sodano. And I thought. She made an unbelievably compelling argument. I thought it was fantastic on her part. It was talking about at the time. Nike and Fedex and Pepsi. Ties with Washington. And, she wrote the argument I've heard. is about the argument for keeping the name? Quote if we changed the team's name. We lose our history. My reply, and by the way she's right. That's what most people are saying. which is kind of silly, but I thought she surmised they're perfectly. Jeanie, said my reply. It's human beings. She writes in capital letters who created the memories and won the game's not a logo. She wrote in caps. A change in name will not alter what art monk Dexter. Manley Darryl. Green Doug Williams etc means to the fans she's. One million percent
Redskins pick up linebacker days after domestic violence arrest
"Was a linebacker for the San Francisco forty Niners. You got into trouble over the weekend on domestic violence charges down in Tampa. And from there the Washington Redskins have determined. They were going to sign him at he was released by said forty Niners more on the story now. Brian Clark ABC news. That's just a quick synopsis. I have what are the details. Now, we'll Tony Reuben foster very talented linebacker from Alabama as you said he had top ten talent going into the twenty seventeen draft but fell because of all feel concerned he was the forty Niners essentially took a chance on them thirty first overall than last off season he was arrested on felony domestic violence charges. His accuser, then recanted said he made the story up. He was also accused of having an assault. Rifle. So he was put on probation. He can't own guns. But then just this weekend with the forty Niners in Tampa hours before a game against the buccaneers. He's arrested at the team hotel for an alleged misdemeanor incident involving that same woman. So the forty Niners announced Sunday morning they were going to cut him Monday. And then Tuesday the Redskins scooped him up and signed him. Well, that's got to be a PR nightmare for the Redskins. But it appears the Jay Gruden the coach of the Redskins in the team ownership doesn't really care about that. Well point though, Tony because Jay Gruden met the media yesterday. But the team ownership Daniel Snyder the president Bruce Allin day didn't they're nowhere to be found. They have not spoken publicly about this. Doug Williams, the director of player personnel for the team. He released a statement saying we talked to some of Rubens teammates from Alabama who are on the Redskins, and they were supportive of this. But two of them have said, no, they didn't ask us anything about Ruben foster. So there are some questions about the what the ownership has to say about this. But that's where the coach Jay Gruden did speak yesterday. He took a. Kind of a cautious approach. We said look there's a lot that has to take place before he plays for us. There's the legal system has to play out the NFL disciplined system and there's the Redskins policy right now. He's on the exempt list. The commissioners exemplify that means he cannot practice or play with the team, but he can attend meetings. Well, of course, there's been some issues with the NFL and players who have had domestic violence issues and this all culminated in policy changes by the NFL. So where's the league now? And this the Commissioner's exempt list is really the main the most recent change we've seen we saw that in response in high profile incident a few years ago where it's sort of a grey area where it's not a player being suspended. It's essentially a a, wink wink suspension where they can't play they can't practice, but they're not officially formerly suspended. It's essentially letting the process play out. So that's where the NFL mainly is right now the league does have a policy, obviously, a zero tolerance policy for domestic violence. So there will be. Disciplined from the Commissioner's office if this is proven to be true. But yeah, it has been an ongoing. Story for the NFL ongoing story really in society, and it's not a good one.
