I was in Afghanistan on deployment and What if you my friends were from the Boston area and remember, we had just had our our leave cut. So we were supposed to be. We're supposed to leaving. Everybody was excited to leave. Yeah, this game started and everybody was Yeah, Nobody was really super excited, but Somehow, you know that fourth quarter happened and, you know, I remember Tom Brady and not Tyler and everything. The whole that fourth quarter alone just kind of for the rest of that deployment has made it easier for a lot of guys I think and me, especially You know, growing up. I mean, I've been Watch Tom Brady when his first football when I was in maybe first grade and you know, and to see it happen again and everything. It just it really did it made up made life a lot easier invaded. You know a lot of people a lot happier so That's probably one that I remember the most. That sample. I was listening to Lawrence Homes this morning it was on. He's on 6 to 10. L on Sunday mornings, and he he had he had a player on the mat. Bowen was it that was drafted the pic before Tom Brady was back in 2000. He's been he played his seven year career. He's been out the leak for, like 15 years. Tom Brady still playing. You know what I mean? It Z crazy. Tom Brady can still be playing any playing at this high of a level. What was it like Mike? What was it like watching the Super Bowl on deployment? You're in Afghanistan. Obviously, every day. You're just trying to make it through, he said. What's it like watching the Super Bowl there? Uh, To be honest, it was actually on radio. We actually didn't have a which actually made it. To be honest, You kind of hang on every play a little bit more when you're listening on the radio. You know, you can't You can't see everything. Yeah, You don't have a real huge steel for the game. But that's that's nothing. That's that's why you know some of these. You know, these radio guys are so so talented that their jobs because they do a very good job making you feel like you're there and you know, even when you're that far away. You know, Um, Wow. They had Eric Davis. And Dion on the corners, and Eric Davis obviously went off tol the Panthers and had several more great season They had murdered Hanks and Tim McDonald. That safety Mike That's my all time favorite secondary as I loved all those guys, especially Merton Hanks of the chicken, dance and everything and They were really fun to watch. It is completely up to him. I just don't think he's healthy enough to go through an entire regular full season of football, But we'll have to wait and see. You never know. "So the big debate was going on this weekend about. The Washington football team right and their new nickname, so if you don't know what's happening, the Washington redskins are probably going to change their name Adam schefter reporting that Fedex basically said all right enough is enough. Three of the minority owners which own forty percent of the team had told Daniel Snyder. They're out if he doesn't do it Nike has put pressure on them, so it's now happening. Ron, Rivera has finally put some pressure on them and by the way all the stuff. Did you see what Jeanie Buss tweeted about this greg? Now what she's saying. She was on July second, so it was right before the weekend and I re tweeted it for those that didn't get a chance to see as you can. you can see it at Sodano. And I thought. She made an unbelievably compelling argument. I thought it was fantastic on her part. It was talking about at the time. Nike and Fedex and Pepsi. Ties with Washington. And, she wrote the argument I've heard. is about the argument for keeping the name? Quote if we changed the team's name. We lose our history. My reply, and by the way she's right. Redskins pick up linebacker days after domestic violence arrest
"Was a linebacker for the San Francisco forty Niners. You got into trouble over the weekend on domestic violence charges down in Tampa. And from there the Washington Redskins have determined. They were going to sign him at he was released by said forty Niners more on the story now. Brian Clark ABC news. That's just a quick synopsis. I have what are the details. Now, we'll Tony Reuben foster very talented linebacker from Alabama as you said he had top ten talent going into the twenty seventeen draft but fell because of all feel concerned he was the forty Niners essentially took a chance on them thirty first overall than last off season he was arrested on felony domestic violence charges. His accuser, then recanted said he made the story up. He was also accused of having an assault. Rifle. So he was put on probation. He can't own guns. But then just this weekend with the forty Niners in Tampa hours before a game against the buccaneers. He's arrested at the team hotel for an alleged misdemeanor incident involving that same woman. So the forty Niners announced Sunday morning they were going to cut him Monday. And then Tuesday the Redskins scooped him up and signed him. Well, that's got to be a PR nightmare for the Redskins. But it appears the Jay Gruden the coach of the Redskins in the team ownership doesn't really care about that. Well point though, Tony because Jay Gruden met the media yesterday. But the team ownership Daniel Snyder the president Bruce Allin day didn't they're nowhere to be found. They have not spoken publicly about this. Doug Williams, the director of player personnel for the team. He released a statement saying we talked to some of Rubens teammates from Alabama who are on the Redskins, and they were supportive of this. But two of them have said, no, they didn't ask us anything about Ruben foster. So there are some questions about the what the ownership has to say about this. But that's where the coach Jay Gruden did speak yesterday. He took a. Kind of a cautious approach. We said look there's a lot that has to take place before he plays for us. There's the legal system has to play out the NFL disciplined system and there's the Redskins policy right now. He's on the exempt list. The commissioners exemplify that means he cannot practice or play with the team, but he can attend meetings. Well, of course, there's been some issues with the NFL and players who have had domestic violence issues and this all culminated in policy changes by the NFL. So where's the league now? And this the Commissioner's exempt list is really the main the most recent change we've seen we saw that in response in high profile incident a few years ago where it's sort of a grey area where it's not a player being suspended. It's essentially a a, wink wink suspension where they can't play they can't practice, but they're not officially formerly suspended. It's essentially letting the process play out. So that's where the NFL mainly is right now the league does have a policy, obviously, a zero tolerance policy for domestic violence. So there will be. Disciplined from the Commissioner's office if this is proven to be true. But yeah, it has been an ongoing. Story for the NFL ongoing story really in society, and it's not a good one.
