"Be black flag. I think. I think they find a way to kind of kind of hold enough. Red gilly black flag that believe in carson but hey pocono poconos de hamlin's playground. You know this is swept as a rookie. Thank you agree right. Doug rice well sometimes on the playground. You fall skin your knee and i think that's what's going to happen at any hamlet. He also has a fatal flaw much like macbeth and all of the great shakespearean characters and his is pressure time and he does not exceed well and right now. The heat is getting turned up on ham. Alexis stay green flag. I think he loses the to. You have to you have to think too. It's not just one race this weekend. It's two races so That's two chances for kyle larson to beat. Everybody got time for one more. Let's do it. Yeah we'll start with brad guilty on this win. Kyle larson success with his dirt. Background tells nascar they should look more at the world of outlaws and other dirt series for potential stars. I'll say black flag. Because i think there are a lot of people who are getting done on asphalt short tracks around the country that are certainly worthy of looking at and you look at the great mix of background that we have inside the seat of race cars. Joey logano asphalt guy. Kyle larson's a dirt guy brad. Kazlauskas an asphalt guy. How bushes asphalt guy. You've had tony stewart you've had You know Christopher bell and tyler riddick who are dirt guys look you can grab them from anywhere all right doug rice i think instead of saying hey to be successful you've gotta come out of the world of outlaws or a dirt track and go racing and nascar just continue to do what you're doing and those other series will make up the ground and they will gain more prominence as you move on and it doesn't always have to be your goal to get to cup. Make the pond that you're in a little bit richer. I'm going to say something. Maybe a little controversial but it seems like these days you have to have a sponsor in your back pocket or manufacturers support to get the move up from any of those lower level series so You know perhaps that can happen from from the sprint car. Or the dirt ranks You know but those are the two key things that i think are most important these days as far as moving up into any of nascar's top three series all right. Finally jeff hammond now. I think they need to look more than the dirt because of the way coming with these new cars. I think they're going to be harder to drive. Then what we've had in recent years and guys who don't get upset when a car gets loose do better than those are so used to have a net grip feeling all the time. Own short drags. There's one more caveat that we could add was also the virtual world come from as well as a few other drivers all right. That's another stimulating episode of green flag. Black flag each summer. Thousands of toyota racing fan scream out their favorite drivers numbers. Those numbers added up to so much more for fangio. savage per toyota racing. Excitement inspired her to rename. Everything after irving drivers numbers her super twenty three after bubba wallace. Her dorm eleven after denny hamlin and.

Kyle larson kyle larson Joey logano jeff hammond tony stewart Christopher bell tyler riddick one race Kazlauskas two races two chances Alexis two key things denny hamlin one more caveat carson brad each summer twenty three pocono poconos de hamlin

"Delicious coca-cola flavors and coca cola zero sugar flavors options to choose from. You'll have to taste them all now. Here's the host of fast talk. Doug rice so if you're one of those folks that so tired of hearing this drone on and on about how great kyle larson is The next hours probably not for you. Because there's going to be a lot more of that. He is dominating the headlines he wins his third points paying race in a row at nashville superspeedway. He does it in dominating although he slipped a little bit and did not win stage number one. Not sure how that happened. We'll talk more about the winner of that stage and what happened to him at the conclusion of the race. Thanks a lot for tuning in. I'm doug rice with alexis erickson and brad gilly and of course our special guest commentator jeff hammond alexa start off with you on a scale of one to ten. How impressed with the role that the five team with kyle larson at the helm is right now. Well first before you get into that. I just wanna say belated father's day thank you and jeff and Brad and everybody out there listening I'm very impressed. I would say you know homeless off the charts. Because i feel. That's where kyle larson is right now. You know we've been talking about on a weekly basis. How much hendrick motorsports as a whole has been improving And there's no doubt about that. They have but kyle larson as an individual in the number five team Are just on another planet. I mean they really are. It's incredible what they're doing The amount of stages that they have won the mount of points that they have gained on points leader denny. Hamlin over the past. Six to eight weeks People if they're not paying attention they better start paying attention now to that five team because I don't see any signs of slowing down for for kyle larson her for that number five. Brad galli i know you don't like to say good race bad race so i'll frame the question a little bit different here overall impressions from a return to the city of nashville. Which i thought was really clever yesterday. By the nbc. People not to say a return to nashville superspeedway cup had never been there but returned to in general because they used to race in the city. Your thoughts about nascar's adventure in nash. Vegas you know. I thought it was great number one because the track did a fantastic job of promoting it in a big way. And if you were in nashville you knew nascar was there. If you were following nascar you knew nashville was there. And then the track just simply produce great racing with a high horsepower. Low downforce package a lot of. But i just say as in terms of making a big deal out of a big huge event. Nascar own nashville this past. Weekend brad gillis. Thoughts on nascar's returned to nashville jeff. Hamid thanks for being here with jeff. this kind of role. That cow larsen on unpaved ecedented preached so much in this sport about parody blowing the parody theory. Right out of the water Doug i'll tell you what i would be doing. If i was a nascar owner i would probably be finally find a way to send my driver back into the dirt. Ranks like they did last year. We kyle larson. Because when he got back to nascar and got back on asphalt this year. I mean he has been unbelievable. When you think about the only place he didn't relive up. His building was at bristol on the dirt earlier this year so this guy is phenomenal. He really is and the thing. I believe more anything else was It's can you believe understand how that communication with him and his crew chief right now is paying dividends this early this this. I mean huge. She these guys are on the same page. Because hendrick motorsports on hall is so much better than what it was a year ago but this one driver is taking what they're giving along the crew chief and they're making their own backyard. You might say you come to the racetrack. you're basically going to larson's backyard absolutely alexis. You and i were talking before we came on the air. Nineteen ninety eight jeff. Gordon went on a run and won thirteen races. He and ray everett ham. Had the secret sauce going that year. Can we see that kind of charge. From what what we're seeing right now with kyle larson. I certainly don't see why not. I'm not willing to bet against him in that team. Right now i mean obviously You know the the linking factor there being hendrick motorsports from jeff gordon's nineteen ninety eight season. And where kyle larson and team are right now and You know as jeff said making you know the point. Chevrolet is also doing very well right now. They're clearly leaps and bounds. Ahead of the competition so You know. I think watch out you know. There's some people that say there's a certain risk and peaking too soon but there's just something about this team And kyle larson specifically that. That seems like okay. They might be immune from that. They might be able to carry this through the summer and into the playoffs and You know really. Just put a a weapon on everybody. We'll have to wait and see. It was a pair chevrolets to finished. One and two brad galli. The guy that was in second place was not an hendrick motorsports. How about that. How about ross chastain. You know if you go back and look over the past several weeks. The road races that we saw in austin cinema both of those races. And if you start to watch what's going on really with chip ganassi because kurt busch has been running. Well also they're starting to move their way up to the front of the field and when you look at a guy who has spent time in the cup series no question but not in a team that had some funding to be able to potentially contend for some wins. I will say that ross really seems to be coming into his own over chip ganassi racing and it seems like that number forty two team. They're kind of raising. Their hand is contenders. It's a little too bad that he's kind of far back in points right now but. Hey we've got nine races to go in the regular season right all right. Let's give him a shot. Clover chevrolet when you run that. Well we plug your sponsors jeff hammond. There were six of the top. Ten finishers at nashville. That were chevrolets. Even in today's world when we've maybe deemphasize manufacturers how do you get the leg up on the competition like that s. They'll thank you go back to last year.

"We've been breaking down the action from the all star race this past weekend at texas motor speedway. Welcome back to fast talk. Doug rice alexis erickson hermes sadler and we're about to be joined now by a member of the nascar hall of fame. A pass nascar cup series champion and a regular contributor to the fox coverage of nascar and maybe more relevant to right now. He just finished fifth in the debut of the superstar racing experience. Thrilled to have bobby labonte with this. Bobby thanks for making time. Give us your impression of racing in this new series. That ray evan hammond tony stewart cooked up. Yeah well thanks for having me on doug and i do believe after you know watch louis the replay this morning and You know it's all said and done. I think it was a great product you know. I'm sure there's some tweaking that'll go on throughout. But overall you know ray and obviously tony raise work and everybody that works that a great job in preparing that many race cars you know that are you know so you know good equally prepared and you know i think it was just a you know a main anytime. You have something like that. You're you're you're waiting for something. But i don't think there's anything that really says we gotta make a big changes is. It really turned out pretty good. I thought and you know when you have a guy like kobe. That wins that his home track. I mean guys that you know you know have run thousands of racist. You can't beat a guy like that sometimes and You know a good show. I thought it was good overall. Bobby it seems like the biggest objective of the superstar racing experiences to be something new and exciting for the fans talk about the atmosphere At stafford speedway on saturday night. What what i could tell from. The cbs broadcast was That it was electric. Did you feel that. Oh absolutely You know my wife and i. We got there thursday Thursday afternoon and with practice on friday. We sat in the grandstands. Friday night watched a couple of races The the modified race and then You know. Just add up and turn one. And i it. It's really cool. i mean obviously. I've been doing some races on short tracks. And you know as ray said you know grassroots racing you got a guy like doug You know we're going to have those guys. You know local guys that are gonna raise throughout the series. And you know when you think about a sell out crowd. I mean sure. It doesn't hold one hundred fifty thousand. But i think electricity driver intro to make a couple of times i could. I could see the grandstands you know. I mean like like you a lot of times. You don't see let's stale. Her junior makes a pass. You see the grandstands kind of explode a little bit and So it was good to see that it was great. See that we had a great autograph session and I think all in all the electricity was there for it and it goes a great You know made for tv You know show. Bobby this is harming i. I really enjoy watching the race. And i know have been part of nothing exactly like that but when you have charity races or exhibition races everybody goes and they're laughing and smile and until the green flag drops in. Everybody wants to win. Everybody's competitive to you as a driver. And i saw all the used to head up there hasn't worked out between which crew chief was with which which driver in how much input in in in ability to change your that you have during the our practice. Yeah well Yeah for me. It was either. We i guess. They drew for who the drivers. They got drivers. So might being you know. I mean next week at miami somebody else but might being had myself and tony. Kahn and kobe and I mean we got we got. You know different than iraq series. You probably know this. You know the old iraq series we could. We'd never would practice r race car until you you'd start to race in a car. This dip in your practice right so this time we were able to go out there and run a few laps. I mean like. I say a few like eight laps right eight laps in and make an adjustment. I mean and justice for small. But everybody's got a little different You feel for it so whether it's a rubber in rubber out little little wedge out air pressure up or down really. That's all all that we were allowed to do And i mean it was great to see these guys that you know. Obviously i probably have a little advantage. You know a few others. That i've known him for years and so i know all of them were like a guy like qanon. He didn't know him. You know but all. I think you know the quality of drivers of cars crew chiefs every everybody like that made for. You know. we really didn't know who you know. It's not like we knew. I was going to get my name until you know friday saturday morning and We just talked about it and said hey you know i i was like hey. You got kobe. Let's do what he does with the he's probably the smartest one here in the best one. So you know we kinda duplicated add a little bit but yeah i mean. We're able to adjust audit critiques. Great to have that way. We can kind of talk about a little bit and have a conversation about it. Of course the other two crew chiefs that have kind of in brought off the bench. Where jeff hammond. And todd parrott bobby watching the introductions and a lot of the focus and it was an -able that elliott castro neves got so much attention. Did you know him prior to this race and bracing with a guy that practically just won the indy. Five hundred seemed like that added an extra touch to.

"All right here. We go with jeff hammond today. Chase elliott will not win coda so stop giving him the flag before we even get there. No he's not gonna win code volt. He's not going to win. I think there are guys out there including martin tricks junior. Maybe even chess chase briscoe. That may have something to say about the fact that mr elliott is the best of the best. All right how about brad gilly green flash all the look. Chase elliott is reigning champion. I get that. I don't know that he's necessarily racing like our reigning champion. The last time us actually led a measurable number of laps was at las vegas and the only lead just over twenty laps. He led three at talladega. But that's you know a little bit of a different story. But now i'm never rated a handsome on the checkered flag before they get to a racetrack and i'm not ready to give it to chase elliott. Amen brother doug. Rice has already commented on this black flag but the name on the trophy right. Check do all those things. He is going to win the first ever nascar racing circuit of the americas and with the correct answer. Lexus eric black flag to and i think doug and i are on the same patriot. We just want all the chase elliott fan salacious today. Yeah junior is going to win. It's going to happen. I we go to into on that one. All right here. We go question number two. It is time to hit the panic. Button at stewart. Haas racing readily green flag. Look performance is actually starting to creep up and improved just a little bit a top ten. Finish cole custer. Yesterday you know. Kevin harvick charting Starting to show a little more speed but man Just when they start to have a good day eric merola was starting to have a good day at dover until he went up and pummeled the wall chase frisco again into the wall again so yeah i think if they have any hope of getting more than one car into the playoffs the panic button needs to be hit hard. All right. how about a doug right then need to be jumping up and down on the panic button. Thirteen races in no no wins and it seems like almost no pulse there they need. Maybe not the panic button. What do you call those. The defibrillator paddles. Then you could get those dan. Yeah all right alexis ericsson. Yeah i mean look. They should have been hitting five weeks ago. I mean my goodness. Yeah when you're sitting in the points. twenty-fifth twenty seventh and twenty eighth. You got a problem so they they need to be getting that panic button and hitting it real hard. I hate saying that sometimes change. Do you good. That might be telling us that There needs to be some kind of realignment. Dislike did hendrick motorsports. They've done it. Rows fenway. maybe. It's time for stewart haas to take a good look from within and say look. Something's gotta give here and is going to start with you. Never know josh berry. Needs a ride all right third question. Kyle larson will be the next multi race winner in twenty twenty one rice. It means that again kyle. Larson will be the next multi-race winner in twenty twenty one green flag right absolutely think so i think they i mean he's gotta get over the second place run and they go and just dominate racist. Sooner or later wins again. All right alexis eric. Yeah i'm gonna say of black flag on that. I think you know they've they've led so many races now and not been able to bring home the checkered flag. They're going to need to learn how to close here soon because it's just not working for them. Obviously running up front leading a lot of apps you'd think would turn into a win sooner rather than later but i just don't think it's going to happen before somebody else gets their second wind. What about a black flag. Thank you once again. You're trying to give somebody something. The he has the propensity of giving it away on his own right. How 'bout Brad guilty. I'm gonna say black flag and over back you earlier and doug and alexis at the wrong about chase elliott not winning this week at circuit of the americas. It's going to be someone else who was already won this year. Something chase elliott has not done all right. That's it we're out of time. Mum green flag black flag will save question number four till next week. And we'll be back with more right.

"Back fast. Talk doug rice along with alexis erickson brad. Gilly and jeff hammond joins us here as we break down the action from dover it is time now for us to do good times and bad times brag. You'll ever going to start with you right now. You have a couple of Good times from this past weekend. And over. I don't think brat i'll go You know there. There was a lot of good times this weekend in dover. We've already talked about Motorsports and how they had a fantastic day yesterday. So i'm not going to give my good time to them because you know we've already talked about them. We'll probably talk about them a lot more. I'm going to go probably no surprise for people that follow the show. I'm going to go to The east race and xfinity series and josh berry. I think you know if you look at what josh has done. This season with a limited schedule and kind of being thrown into that car. I think it has just been fantastic. He finished second in the east race on friday. He finished second in one. Hundred thousand dollar dash for cash on saturday and oh by the way. He made his cup series. Debut in the number. Seventy seven perspire motorsports yesterday for justin haley. Who was out for covid protocols so just an all around great weekend for him and i can't say enough. I know. I've heard every nascar pundits say it for many many weeks. We hope somebody out there willing to sponsor him and get him in a fulltime ride because He's the real deal. I don't you have to. I know we're diverting here a little bit from good times bad times but doesn't somebody have to step up and say okay. You proven your point your wheel guy. we gotta find. you'll ride. no. I mean somebody out. There is missing a golden opportunity and it may be within the sport itself. I mean you may have somebody that's not really producing and you might need to look really deeply. Say whether or not you need to make an adjustment. I'm just telling you being honest. I mean this kid here. I think he can draw the sponsorship. I think he can produce Behind the wheel. And that's what you're looking for any kind of race car drivers somebody can come in and be a difference maker. I mean this guy has got legitimate credentials. He's not the kind of race race car driver that sits in his motor home. Look at race car. Tell you what's going on with in help. Your engineers make it better. Okay that being said do you have a couple of good times from dover this past week yes number one. The fans that was that was great to see the crowd that we saw at dover. I mean it's there's something about for whatever reason i feel like the crowd is right there on top of you. If you ever raised over you really feel like. You're what part of the crowd. And i think that the drivers themselves loved it and i know that alice bowman had a great time. Y- interacting with them. I think that's one thing that kinda sticks out in my mind and the other is tolerated. Yeah i think that this guy is finally hit his stride. Richard childress racing is got their game face on now. They're making things happen week in week out. But he has made a difference. Now guess what he's in the playoffs. If sank started tamar. He is in good enough position to be locked in sixteenth position at the moment. So he's been fighting real hard. Climb back up into points. He had another top ten. Finish his teammate. Austin right in front him. So overall maybe i should say tip of the hat to our cr eighth-place finish by the way for tyler rettig at dover brad galli times from dover if i can expand on what happened said is really go. Eighth or eleventh because tyler. Rettig ron daniel suarez buster. Tent wallace got an eleventh place. Finish i mean. I think look at what all of those drivers were able to do. They all had really good race days. You know i know. The hendrix story sort of overshadows a lot of that. But you start to look at some of the good days that people had those days were really good and much needed days for those teams are. Let's pill around and go in the opposite direction. Alexis not so good times not so good. I feel like. I'm talking about this every single week but i think it's still needs to be pointed out especially when you're talking about that times and that's three fourths of stewart haas racing I mean when you look at what happened yesterday. Obviously kevin harvick Finished six po custer tenth and those were good runs. Certainly. but you look at eric merola. Who had a massive hit Luckily got out of the car was okay but finished dead last yesterday chase briscoe also having issues finished I believe it was thirty fifth yesterday. But when you look at the point standings. There's only one stewart haas racing car that's probably going to make it into the playoffs and that's kevin harvick. Because when you look at kolkata. Customer in twenty-fifth chase briscoe twenty-seventh and eric amaral the twenty eighth. They're far far from the cut line. And unless one of them Eke out a win somewhere. It's just not going to happen for them. So they're definitely one of my bad times and then the other one has to be marked trucks. Junior right we just talked about last week. We thought he was the favourite to win. It all starts on the pole and then comes home and finish his nineteenth so not a great day for that team especially to track. That is technically his home track. I know there are so many home tracks for aren't drug junior. It seems like Thought they were gonna run strong yesterday and they. They just didn't very good points there. Jeff hammond what about bad times. In dover bad times in dover has to be the fact brad keselowski two weeks in a row. They have not been on their game in their teammate Lagana just opposite. He was able to come from the back and made a good pick call. I think that Tires were not real important yesterday but for him and twenty two car the cockpit call that was made late in the race gave him an opportunity to drive up through the traffic and and getting himself a top five. Finish so They're they've got something. There are missing something there. And i think that you know. I don't think they're going to have the same excuse. They had to wait before all the crew chiefs weren't there and they didn't get the right parts on the car. So what's the excuses this week Yet to be seen. And i think the other deal has to be Guys like matt benedetto. Who with doing so well and al. Sonny's count run up against who. Now he finds himself back outside of the playoffs right at the moment and not running up to.

Gilly kevin harvick eric merola jeff hammond saturday alice bowman nineteenth matt benedetto josh eric amaral brad keselowski last week friday Richard josh berry twenty two car justin haley tenth two weeks Jeff hammond

"At dover. It appeared that it was going to be. Kyle larson picking up his second win of the season but when it was all said and done it was his hendrick motorsports teammate. Alex bowman that got win number two on the air. Hi everyone welcome to fast talk. Doug rice along with alexis. Erickson and brad gilly and today. We're joined in studio by jeff hammond so thrilled to have you along with us as we break down a very interesting dover event at alexis. I thought for the longest time okay. This is the day. That are rather that kyle larson. Cashes in for number two. Yeah i think a lot of people. Did you watch fox broadcasts yesterday and with over one hundred laps left to go the broadcast team pretty much all gave it to kyle larson but we've seen this story before. Play out plenty times. Where kyle larson has been dominated in the first part of the race and then something happens and and just so happens that yesterday alex bowman and the number forty eight team had the fastest pit stop of the year and was able to be called arsenault pit road and as we know at dover yesterday clean air was king and once he got out front he stayed out front and Hendrick motorsports one two three four. It was a great day yesterday for them. A great day for chevrolet jeff hamedani. Oh you spend a lot of your life on top of the pit box. It's got to make you smile a little bit. Who in the pit crew is the big difference maker of the day. We'll absolutely does. Because you know we always believed the real man work in the pits and whenever it comes time to make a Difference they're the ones we always kinda turned to. And i think it's interesting that yesterday's race without shadow doubt like you said alexis. Those guys gave their driver the opportunity to go to victory. I noticed some of the post race comments. Alexis that even kyle. Larson admitted he goes. When you were out front the clean air push that race car right down into the track and you had a huge advantage. And when he came out behind alex bowman he simply couldn't wrestle around him. Yeah i mean it seemed like yesterday. The only way that you were going to be able to challenge kyle larson would be to do it in the pits. And that's exactly what alex bowman and the forty eight team did You know we talk about. Dover we talk about miles the monster he pretty tame yesterday you know there was a few crashes one especially hard hit for erica merola but for the most part i thought you know it was a pretty tame race when it comes to miles the monster and it was it was whoever was out front really had the advantage and when alex bowman was able to take that lead off pit road there was no looking back the other thing that i noticed during the course of the race. How fast race was i mean that. They covered water miles in three hours and nineteen minutes. That is getting it done on a one mile racetrack. It really is. I mean the cautions and the way they fail which were pretty much non existent contribute to that but the thing is those drivers and those cruiser like that race went by in such a hurry I think you kind of cut a lot of people by surprise and at the same time. I was surprised that we didn't have any kind of tire issues. Or anything like that. Because everybody was really getting after it. We will talk about the hendrix. Sweep of the top four spots. But jeff i want an and alexis Brag you'll be joining us shortly. I want i want to zero in on the individual drivers at hendrick. I mean he he has been running with a kiddie crew. And now this master plan of youth coming in alexa seems to be paying big benefits at it. Seems like across. The board william byron. Alex bowman coming into their own as racecar drivers. You know it's funny. I was thinking about that on the drive in this morning. If else it feels like not so long ago that we were all sitting at this desk talking about what is wrong with hendrick motorsports. What can they do to get back to the elite status that we once known them as You know and obviously yesterday. It's clear that they have turned things around. I mean you know. Obviously they had the championship last year with chase elliott but it still seemed like there was maybe a little bit of work to do but when you look at this this season chase still needs a win. But i'm i'm very confident that that's gonna come. Perhaps maybe even next this weekend at the circuit of the americas but when you look at the winds that they have and the street that william byron is on right now. Eleven top tens in a row which hasn't been done since jeff. Gordon did it many years ago. You just look at that team and you can see that there is you know they're gelling. There's something there that they have found that they're working together well as a team and they're getting done On sundays and it's it's really showing jeff. I've got to admit when this lineup was first installed. I had my doubts. i'm thinking man. He's he is cashed out. Some of the most prominent names ever and brought in some unproven talent that Obviously rick hendrick and the people at Hms knew what they were doing. Well i agree with what you're saying. Bless don't overlook one of the biggest variables. This made this whole thing. I think work chicken house. They rearranged their management group over there they brought an end did some things within the organization to try to make the organization better because they felt like they were lacking. I think back at the shop in preparation and their due diligence. There and i'm not going you know rocks at people because that have not getting it done in years past but it's a different world but all of a sudden you look and henry pretty much saying worse. Hinder worse hendrick. These guys are they. They're not their normal competitive self and now sudden they are forced to reckon with and you point out. Chase elliott hasn't won yet. I'm like you alexis. I believe it's right around the corner and once they do that it's it's a complete their back. They are literally back and think chevrolets back there stronger than ever because when you go down through there. Ross chastain nasty you know are cr. There's a lot of chevrolet teams right now. That are able to kinda like though their chest out. Say hey the bowtie is back where it belongs. And i think that's something we don't wanna lose but i really believe hendrick. Chad can ask could wind up. Being the guy is really making this happen. Hendrick motorsports the top four spots at dover. Here's the way they finished alex. Bowman one kyle. Larson was second. Chase elliott third william byron fourth. The last time that a single organization took the top four spots two thousand five at the final race of the season at homestead. Greg biff full mark martin. Mac tens of carl edwards. That's a pretty good lineup. To elect for sure is so hard to believe yesterday when i saw that stat. Tv that number one. It had only been done. I think three times before yesterday in the last time was so long ago. With with rosh. Fenway and the fact that hendrick motorsports had never done it. Before you just think about the glory days of hendrick motorsports and how dominant that. They have been in the past and the fact that this is the first time i mean. There's not a lot of firsts. Left for rick hendrick to accomplish and to think that he was able to get one. Yesterday's pretty incredible. Brad galea's on.

"That he's in if you can even call it. That i think he's got the biggest points lead that we've had in like the last eight years or something but people are still calling it a slump. Because he hasn't made it to victory lane. So i'm going with denny hamlin if i can pick the same as harmony you absolutely. Let's let's quickly with this idea around the horn. Because i'm going to get your feedback. Three of the biggest names in the sport we talked about this last week. Still don't have a win. Then hamlin kevin harvick chase ellen and according to you guys. One of those is probably going to win this week. Yeah if i had to pick. Who's going to win. I obviously i'm gonna go denny hamlin because he's who i think is going to win at darlington but we have ten winners right now. I think we easily get fourteen Just because we have so many stars that's the biggest surprise out of that group for you. That's winless right now. Chase elliott i. I mean look look at the races. He won just in the playoffs. Last year he won three he was able to win at every type of track in the intermediate short track and road course. I'm really surprised that they didn't pick up in two thousand and twenty one where they left. Two thousand twenty hermit. Who's the biggest surprise you out of those three. That have not won this year to me is harboring Not only did he had won that another thing the second yesterday but that was a little bit of a strategy thing hammonds had the speed harvick had had that speed consistently like easiest to happen. We'll see get back this weekend. Well i know his crew chief rodney. Children said hey. They changed the rules on us and it hurt us big time. It certainly has kevin harvick last year. "Of this programme. It's time for another edition of the green flag flag already. You know how it works in my best announcer voice. I will read a statement if you agree with the statement you give it a green flag. David styles will give you up if you disagree. David styles will give you an also get a black flag. I'm going to start. With jeff hammond on this one team penske's cookies and milk meeting after the daytona. Five hundred last lab crash off in talladega. Yes i think they had to have used oreos. And i roger entice them a little bit more with vanilla ice cream right doug rice. I think it would double stuffed oreos did pay off. I'll be sleeping obviously okay. How about a bread kelly. I was saying maybe he was the lady gaga oreo. Yes a green flag l. The way i do think they. They were racing with their heads screwed on a little tighter. And and it worked out there in victory lane. You can't argue with that all right. Second question nascar will have twelve or fewer different winners at the end of the regular season. Greis green flag greensboro all day. Long the number of the winners will be twelve. We will not exceed. That will be all there is to be said. The apostles of nascar about a jelly aren't gonna go black flag Say thirteen just just to be defiant against doug i look. We're already at nine and we still have. We're at nine and ten races. We have sixteen races to go before more with the variety of the schedule. That we have coming up. Yeah i think we'll have thirteen all right. How defiant does jeff hammond field. I feel this is defined as brad guilty. Oh i feel like a winner. So even i don't look like the winter the summer soldier. He's think there will be less than or more than i think. More than twelve. I think with what's out there right now and the racetrax that we've got coming up. Doug i think that we have got to surpass twelve. Thirteen still beats what you're saying. And that's where i feel like it might want it but thirteen or fourteen. I do not think is out of reach. We have nine after ten rates. all right. go to start with the winter soldier. This time. here we go. Hms will be the next team to all drivers. But a w in the win column. I will say this probably goes against something i said last week but i'll go green flag because they only have one more driver to get into victory lane and that's the reigning series champion chase elliott whereas well stewart haas racing has to put all of their drivers in victory lane to do that Joe gibbs racing still has to to go and i'm not sure what other organizations and where they sit so yes i'll say green fly all right. Jeff hammond I agree. I think we gotta go. With the fact only having one remain and he is the defending champion. And we've got a lot a lot of road course races. I believe he will have a golden opportunity to get his went and foot. Hms four for four all right. What about doug greis just doing some quick noodling and doodling here. I'm going to agree with both of these guys. I think it will be hendrick motorsports to get the poor house before anybody snow leaving on edge today. Not not okay. There's nothing viable like. Brad said gibbs's got to and i don't know anybody else can put their whole team in full hashers straight before recon call. Four candidates allows okay. I was thinking about the tv show. All right let's go to the final question today. All talladega races should end with a green white checkered. All of them. How about that Doug rice. I feel like they all do now. Anyways we already have our wish. I cannot remember the last time We didn't have a green white checkered. at talladega. i do applaud them for not wanting half the field though to finish the race down there. It was kind of nice. I know there was a crash in the back but At least fifteen cars sprawled all of the french drink. Red guilty Say green flag. We got to have a little bit of time to reset and make sure we get to the edge of our seat. If you weren't already there. I like the idea of having that to shoot out at the end of one of these about jeff hammond. I agree with these guys are here. Do have a question for brand you remember that last crashes one. It took eric jones out. So you know this so you were just aware of that. You know i it could happen anyway. Okay i'll be a little more selfish on this woman all right. That's our green flag black flag for this week there once was a.

Joe gibbs Jeff hammond sixteen races twelve Thirteen last week Brad David thirteen jeff hammond nine fourteen eric jones ten races More than twelve both four today Doug Four candidates

"Rather danny hamlin is not come home with a top five finish but had a very strong car led. The most laps did not come home with the trophy. I had him down a potential bad time to. Because it's we're in double digit races now denny. Hamlin hasn't won and he's leading laps. She's doing all those other things but he's not bringing home. Checkered flash racing to do in the bad times of kyle larson barely gets his car cranked up and they cook a motor and he finishes fortieth and a lot of people have him in the back of their minds. I think is championship potential. You can't have days like this looking in recent weeks. It's a thing that he wanted. Vegas probably is so for the rough day there. For kyle larson and also gonna go the bad time of the guy that we've talked a lot about on this show mac. The benedetto in matt's cases in the wood brothers case and everybody in this sport thinks the world of them. They don't get that many opportunities to come up to the plate in the bottom of the night with the winning run on third. You got to get that runner across the play in this case for matt to benedetto. You've gotta leave those last two laps. You've got to lead. When that checkered flag comes out and all of a sudden you're at different elevations. And i know jeff that may go counter to what we were talking about fool's gold and talladega. But still when when you have that shot you've got to hit the mark. Well we always talk about your belt. You got to build a closed the deal and that's what's so important. As far as the cup racing is concerned you get up there. You get an opportunity you got to build. Close the deal and i've always contended don't beat yourself. I just wonder if he over thunk. It has a like to say or did he have some help. And when i mean by that was are not enough communication between him. Spotter and you know this. These are the things that you've got to put yourself on these kinds of positions multiple times before you get it right. He was not the first guy to lose the superspeedway race by going the wrong way at the wrong time. But he needs to learn from this. And if this opportunity presents itself and any of the remaining two superspeedway races. This is the season as far as daytona talladega concern. You better not make the same mistake twice. That of cash that went and let's wrap up this segment with our toyota performance report. Not the best day for the toyota gang down at talladega. This week as we break down talladega and look forward kansas. Doug rice along with brad. Galli and jeff ammon our usual compatriot alexis erickson volunteering to work. These speedway children's charity golf tournament sounds like pretty good duty. Jeff hanneman. i'm kinda bummed. I mean i. I like to play golf. I've played in a charity. Golf term before but Today having a beautiful day it couldn't have been in and more picturesque. So i'm very envious. Her lovely day here in the central carolinas and brad guilty. I am the proud owner of jeff hammond gulf treatment. Golf shirt. whoa i'm impressed. Where is it last. Time i ward. I think i think. I actually with jeff hammond at a restaurant. Indianapolis believe you're correct last time. I remember seeing you where it and at the same time. It's interesting that you said something about that. Before i put the show on. I've got on currently i look at that shirt today and i thought about putting it on wearing it in here. That would have really got you. That would that. would that would have looks stylish. Maybe we should match one day. Yeah maybe maybe not. Okay but thanks a lot for tuning into fast. Talk all right. Let's get serious now. Talk a little bit about talladega. Maybe not quite the fireworks show that we have seen in the past but obviously pretty thrilling. When you have a green white checkered finish and brad gilead no surprise for the sixth time when the dust settled it was brad last in victory lane. Yeah and and good for brad kaz laskey. And as you mentioned he only led one lap. It was the last lap that's the only lap that he needed to lead but he did show why he's won six races at this track. And you don't win this many races without actually being able to have some knowledge and skills of exactly what you do to be able to get around this track well but it's not even just getting around the track it's knowing where to be an hat position yourself in the end and brad knew that he had a great train of people behind me. Were ready to push him to the front and matt benedetto. You know maybe you can look back at it and say it was the wrong decision to try and go block the outside lane when they were coming to the white flag. Maybe it was the right decision. Who knows how things would come out. The way it did wind up though was with his laskey picking up his first win of the year. Jeff hammond what were your thoughts. Got ready for the restart their I was wondering how gonna come out because you knew it was not going to be just two lines that we were looking at. We knew they were going to be basically a jailbreak and everybody was going to be for their own. I mean you had to make the issue happen. Somebody had to force it and the way it turned out. It can't be on edge of my seat in the last couple of lasts for sure trying to figure out who was going to push ahead in In the end. I hate it for the twenty one car. Good solid run for them. How about michael mcdowell. One day tone and everybody talk about going into that race. Hey don't worry about him here because he's talladega record. It stinks yesterday. He was a factor especially late afternoon late in the race. He looked like he could be the man to beat once again. Jeff brad and i were talking about this before we went on air but i felt like that race never got to the level of frantic behavior that we normally associated with talladega. The four wide the three ri- wide for three or four laps in a row that it was a little bit more tame as a result of this race car and how it adheres to the race track. What's the story there. I think it's a combination of a couple of things. I think some of this doug has to do with guys looking back at daytona and realizing how wild and out of control that particular race was and in the end a lot of people felt like they took themselves out of that race before it got to the end and they weren't around where they need to be. I think a lot of people when you look at the way this finishing lineup was There was still a lot of people who did not take advantage of what was given to them but they were a lot of surprise. Finishers sl that top ten. At least for me. I thought you know when you think about cavs kerala pretty comes i mean he was right there in the middle of and you know matt venedetto here again. They needed to win. They needed another good run to keep climbing that ladder. Brad now follow them very closely because they have been in a whole a lot this year and they continue to climb out of that and get closer and closer to that cutoff for the playoffs. I both of you a question. Because you you mentioned matt data and i've talked about this a couple of other radio shows. I just feel like this is such a critical year for him if he doesn't do something to distinguish himself brad. Next year mac. Benedetto might not be representative cup car. I gotta say For matt venedetto. If you go back and look at recent history here. He started off the season just horribly. The first three races for that team were atrocious. And they were down in the thirties. When it came to the point standings what truly amazes me is they have somewhat quietly up until yesterday at talladega work their way up in the standings in fact in the last five races matt to benedetto has gained eleven spots in the standings and he is now just on the outside looking in only twelve points behind chris. Butcher who is sixteenth in the standings right now and on the bubble. I mean to think that one driver and we're ten races into the year now has been able to in half of those climb up eleven spots in the standings that's pretty spectacular and he might just as well point his way into this one. You never know. Jeff does do benedetto half to win this year though or really come close to winning more than just on a plate race to be considered elite and viable and person that could go into one of the big rides. I think so because of the fact that is so many people out there right now. That are good and they are good rice car drivers to haven't got a win. So if you want a separate yourself you need to get the victory and you need to give somebody the opportunity to bill. Put your name on a packet and carried into a really legitimate sponsor and say. Look at what i've got. I've got matt benedetto. He's one racist. He's almost won at talladega. I can give you a for instance. For instance for instance. He made the playoffs. You gotta have something to sail and that's what you're talking about. You're basically you're selling yourself and building your next year's portfolio that they're going to hand out on your behalf who wants me. I've got to make myself a viable drafting a free agent next year. Because i know a free agent. I'm gonna be up. Somebody's gonna walk me. I gotta make myself that way brad. There's one more talladega one. More daytona can matt benedetta wind someplace. That's not one of those tracks. Well i mean. He's shown that he can be runner up twice in the same season. Las vegas speedway. He did that last year. Although this year they really weren't good he's shown that he can be a runner. A finisher at bristol motor speedway of course one of the bristol opportunities. This year was a dirt.

Jeff hanneman Jeff hammond michael mcdowell Jeff brad kaz laskey matt venedetto six races Jeff brad alexis erickson sixteenth last year next year ten races yesterday This week sixth time chris two lines Brad twelve points

"Lane has done so before bush. So if you add him to the list of five people that and brad talked about in the last two segments i think for sure There's a lot of allen two drivers that are a winless on the season. So i'm going to say green flag if you give me. Yes i'm gonna ask you to give me the number. What's the i'm gonna say thirteen. I'ma say thirteen thirteen okay. Doug rice. I'm going to mirror exactly. What alexis exit thirteen different winters by the end of the regular season so twenty six races. I feel like that's a good number all right. How about it brad. Hughley much as i hate to do it. I have to agree green flag. And i and i do agree that it stops it thirteen. We're at eight right now. That means we're just going to have five different winners in the next seventeen races. It's possible to go over. I don't ever think worrying af beyond sixteen. But i will say thirteen all right gonna go a fourth question here once again kyle. Busch will wait till the playoffs to produce the w this year doug rice once again. Kyle busch plates playoffs. He wins but it doesn't happen anywhere whether or not he wins. We're i that's really what i'm wrestling with not win. But if i'm going to say black flag win before the playoffs somewhere come on. I'll wake up. Let me ask you this if kyle busch is a tv show. Has he jumped the shark. Yes he's he's fonzie on the motorcycle about bread gilly well based on my prior answer a feeling that joe gibbs racing actually wins out with all of their drivers before any organization. I'm gonna have to say black flag and say that. Yes kyle busch win and it happens before the play offs at corner. You painted yourself. It feels great. I'm enjoying enjoying my solitude right here. All right how about alex is there. I'm going to say i'm gonna say green flag goes win this season but i think he does it in the playoffs. Does it in the playoffs. Right there's your edition of green flag. Black flag one biggest afternoon kyle. Busch's pit crew changed more than just tires in a blazing twelve point two seconds. They transformed fan nikola risk from man to machine now everything he does his tundra. He.

"At atlanta motor speedway's fifth victory ever ryan has also been featured in the new series on net flix called the crew and online. There's zoom call. All the actors had praised for him saying he sending natural and he's good looking guys got the poise. He's got all the swagger that goes with that quick question to all three of you brad if ryan could win regular let's say he wins four races. This season gets deep into the playoffs. How big a player can he be. I think he can be a big player. And if you're talking about in the sport's popularity and someone who could transcend the sport absolutely because ryan blaney. He actually is a pretty fun. Loving guy you know he can be low key but he can also just throw out those fun things just right at the perfect moment and the fact of the matter is we are going to be talking about the winners in our sport if those winners also have the charisma of a heart throb. If you will like ryan blaney than yeah. I think that could be huge for the sport. Yeah i agree. It wasn't just a few years ago when you know things weren't that the way that they are now that he was thrown pizza parties for fans in the stands and and different things like that you know i could definitely see him as being somebody that could host the saturday night live. I mean i think he has that kind of personality. In that as brad said that kind of charisma and if he starts winning and winning a lot and and possibly even become a champion of our sport. I think the sky's the limit for him really army. How how's the ceiling for ryan blaney if if big if if he could start winning races on a regular basis. I think it's as high as he wants to be. And he's able to work to make it be you guys have all hit the nail on the head. This guy He comes across as a very shy. Unassuming kinda quiet person had an opportunity to be around him socially some in he is a lot of fun is a jokester. He's funny he's witty. He's obviously very talented. We waited on chase elliott for a while he was the anointed. You know fan favourite and we needed him to start winning. He's done that. And i think ryan blame is probably the next one atlanta that and by the way if you didn't see it after the race at atlanta motor speedway ryan blaney went over. Got the checkered flag. Found a young boy. Look be six or seven years old that had on ryan blaney t shirt and gave him the checkered flag. Ha it was really sweet. Believe he didn't give it to somebody some kid with a joy. Lagana t shirt. I can't believe he. Yeah good point. I can't believe he keeps giving those things away. I might be selfishly trophy very very nice gesture. We'll have a fan for life a better. Let's defer now to his empress from emporia army sadler. We're gonna let you pick first for who will be the eventual victor at the dirt race at bristol. Yeah this is stating the obvious. But i don't know how you pick against kyle larson you know he wins and everything gets in under. He's got a lot of momentum team binding. I think something. We'll have to go wrong for him. Not win top. Pick to follow their brad. Galli i'd sounds going to go with this reasoning and alexis alluded to it earlier. But the least likely joe gibbs driver has won the least likely hendrick drivers have won the least likely paint team. Penske driver has one and no disrespect to any of them. how about. Maybe the least likely stewart haas racing driver rookie chase briscoe. Oh that's a bold pick. He needs something good to he does. I'm going austin dillon. Dillon has one elder on the trucks. Just past week. He won in Wanna make sure. I get this right. Six four late models in the carl customs dirt races that they had at bristol motor speedway. He won his feature. So you know. I think we get seven different winners in seven different races than austin dillon. Winds up in victory lane a name that we talked about before the show started. Ricky stenhouse junior. I two things. He's got a lot of dirt track experience and for whatever reason bristol motor speedway seems to be a really good place for stenhouse to put on a show. So we'll see we can't wait to bring you all the action saturday of cup. Qualifying and on sunday the food city dirt race at bristol motor speedway. We'll be there special. Thanks to hermes sadler. Kip bernhardt david styles. And our panelists. Brad in the lexus. I'm doug rice. We'll be back next week with a whole bunch more fast. Talk.

"The weren't dirt or dirty has been in a lot of song titles by a dirty deeds done dirt cheap sealy. Dan had dirty work. Elton john had an album called captain. Fantastic and the brown dirt cowboys. So dirt has been around a long time and the expression for people my age. They are older than dirt. This weekend motor speedway. They get to play in the dirt. The first time in over fifty years nascar is throwing the dirk down at the half mile at bristol motor speedway and easily the most talked-about event of the year hermit first off. Just your total overview about this grand experiment for nascar laying dirk down at bristol motor speedway you know doug The three honor of going to ill door for all the truck races all those years i did. Tv and tony stewart in. His crowd always seem to hit it right. And then i think a lot of people just felt like oh if they can do to. Eleanor we can do it anywhere else. And i and. I always thought you know it's gonna take a special group of people to be able to pull something off like ill door seems to be able to do or seemed to be able to do all the years that they had always work around the different You know the weather in amount of cars and things always seem to get it pretty good by race time. But i never would have dreamed that we're talking about you know when the cup cars you know went back to the dirt and it would be at bristol in just you know regardless of what happens. I just give all the credit to the people at bristol motor speedway the staff call whale. Marcus bruton everybody and all the teams for all the work near putting in to make this happen. And this is just one of those races that i'm going to enjoy the spectacle of it and not so much care about the nuts and bolts and who wins and all that i'm gonna just enjoy guinness is something i never dreamed out. See in big time. Nascar dirt racing at bristol. I can't help but grin when i think about it. Spectacle is a nice word alexis. You may and brad all work for speedway motorsports and we've been privy to a little bit of the behind the scenes this and we can tell people The folks led by steve swift. Who's head of track operations for speedway. Motorsports had not left much to chance on this adventure. No they have not. I mean they have been working day and night for weeks at the track up in bristol making sure that they get it right consulting With with people in the dirt world who know dirt better than anybody else to make sure that they have the right combination You know on the track there and you know. I kinda like what hermes said about you. Know just just watching and taking it all in an and enjoying the spectacle that it will be. I think one of the things we need to think about is is try not to have great expectations of what's going to happen because nobody knows it's been so long since the nascar cup series has raced on dirt You know. I think it's going to be a fantastic show no matter what happens and You know. I just can't wait to see what transpires because if somebody asked me to predict i really can't i mean there's so much to think about brad i want to pick up on what alexa sad. But i'm i'm kind of two. Fold here for you all right. What would you like to see a be. What do you think we will see when the cup cars hit. The clay at bristol I i would like to see a race. That is very balanced. We're gonna have some cautions. I just hope there's not an overabundance of cautions. I want to see some racing happen. Not a lot of caution after caution after caution. So that's what. I would like to see what i think we're going to see is i think we're gonna see that track track slick off. I think we're gonna see it rubber up and i think we're going to actually see the cars. Maybe even a little bit faster as they go and it depends on. Do they create just one lane to the two lanes or even more but also to play off of your return from this segment being down there on pit road. I have a feeling when i get home. And the coin song from a great texan. I'll have a lot of dirty laundry to take very very nice. Play army the races two hundred and fifty laps. What are you thinking about cutting a bristol. Race in half and then running it on the dirt. Yeah that's kind of tricky. When you start looking at a distance to race to your point we could have a lot of cautions. We could have a situation where to begin with trying to stay so away from each other. Maybe not as many you know who knows it. Who knows what the condition of the racetrack would be. I'm i remember the first time. I go back to el dora in talking to these guys on you know in the pit area. You know what they're doing and working on the truck and you know the first thing they told me is what i'm looking for the i'm looking for the wet spots looking for the moisture on the track and i'm like what a because i grew up racing asphalt stock car. He you know that's the last thing you want to do. So many nuances. And i. I think You know y'all y'all brought up a good point about the speed a potential speed. I've been watching some of these. You know racist going on the preliminary races Over the last couple of days in those calls are really really moving and there's enough straightaway at bristol. Unlike many dirt tracks where you can actually get the car straight in in in gain some speed almost straightaways hit into the corners and most of the wrecks. We saw it. Do not all of them when most of them were solve Kind of slow lazy spins that you can recover from all get out of and keep going if you ran into. Somebody is just like a little bumper car but we can really see some stuff talk this weekend and i'm anxious to see how they deal with all that harm..

"To to be a patient and a place like atlanta savior equipment. Save your tires shooting things up on the front line of iran. Take care of it. So you've got more on the backing of a run. He was able to do that even though larsen was out in front of him he was able to do that. Paid off for him at the end. Yeah i completely agree. I think other thing is is the confidence factor that he now has i think People were probably thinking yesterday when that race was over we we worked assuming that ryan blaney was going to be the first driver from team penske to win and twenty twenty one and the fact that him and his team were able to go out into brad's point that he made earlier and have a complete race which they've struggled to do in the past Put that together and get the first win for team. Penske twenty twenty one. I think there has to be a gigantic confidence boost for that team Going forward and i expect more more. Good things out of them and brag yearly. Were six races into the year. Hendrick motorsports has two wins but chase elliott's names not only the one of those trophies. Yeah chase look in one way. Chase elliott had some really bad lucky to atlanta. In the other way they created the bad luck they had it atlanta. He was slated to start that race in fifth position and again they had to start from the back because they had failed pre race inspection twice now with that being said chase elliott was able to racist way up to eighth. But when you're there you're going to be in a spot on a race track. Where restarts pretty crazy sometimes and you might get involved in something. And that's exactly what happened to him. I punched a hole in the center of the nose of the car. It was not handling right from there on out then. He ran into some engine issues and ended up making an early exit from the day ended up finishing second to last in the race. And we've seen other problems other places where they've created their own problems. The daytona road course was another great example of that when they had a problem on a pitstop in his chase elliott's trying to very impatiently drive his way through the field he ended up getting sandwiched in between a couple of cars and ended up with a bad result there so the championship is great and we know the performance is obviously there with them. What they need to do in some of these events i feel is just get out of their own way and let it happen and it'll happen probably a lot as we close up numbered one here. Let's give you the toyota performance report from the folds of honor. Q t five hundred dinnie. Hamlin brings it home fourth. "Drivers have found their way to victory lane. The latest being martin tricks junior as he outduel the field in phoenix arizona. To pick up the win. I'm doug rice. Along with alexis. Erickson and brad gilly later on. We'll be joined by jeff hammond and near the conclusion of the show. We will have a feature piece looking back at a year ago when atlanta motor speedway marked the end of racing as we know it in the twenty twenty years. So we've got a lot to talk about first. Step martin tricks. Junior picks up his first win of the season. Alexis erickson in your reason for us to be surprised. you know. that's a good question. i don't think so. Certainly i think One of the things that stood out to me most about the ratio yesterday for the first time in twenty twenty one. It was a lot of what i would consider the usual suspects in the top ten. I mean he had joe gibbs racing. You had hendrick motorsports and you had team penske You know who were pretty much dominant throughout the day. I think the only way that you could say maybe possibly it was a surprise. That barton junior ended up in victory. Lane is because he hit the wall early so you know you had to come back from a little bit of adversity but on that last restart he was the one that was able to get out in front. Beat joey logano Off the line and Sale to his first victory of twenty twenty one in the second victory of the year. For joe gibbs racing brad gilly martin turks. Junior has now tied his total win output from twenty twenty. Well that's true. Of course twenty twenty probably should have been more trips to victory lane. But it wasn't. I think what's most interesting to this aside. From the fact that you know martin x-junior did make a pretty nice adjustment to the race car all on his own to alexis point but the fact that he has twenty eight wins right now. It took martin true ex junior somewhere around. Twenty two wins to actually get a first win on a short track. His last four victories have all come on nascar short tracks and i thought that was pretty fascinating as well. First time winner for him at phoenix raceway and of course we go back there for the championship and when we look at this race and you wonder okay who did a lot of offseason work on their short-track package. I think that showed up. Not just for joe gibbs racing but also team penske and hendrick motorsports and of course Martin true ex. Junior always a i feel like in the back of the mind threat to get to the title alexis to you feel like we know who the favorites are yet or do. We still have some sorting out to do. Yeah with five races. And i think we still have some sorting out to do. I think you could certainly pinpoint some teams that really need to step it up if they wanna have a shot at all at making the playoffs let alone the final four. You know. I look at some stewart. Haas racing teams and Bubba wallace other teams out there But i think we still have a little bit more sorting out as you say to do. Just because You know we're only five races in. This is such a long season in just because You know there are some teams that look strong now doesn't necessarily mean throughout the summer months that they'll still look strong You know. And i i look at teams like kevin harvick. I think you know he's been one who has been A favorite for the last several years. Who right now is not looking so much like favorite. So it'll be interesting to see if those things will kind of get turned on their head. Once we get eight races in ten races in twelve races in But i think we need a little bit more data before we can decide who who the final four might be. Kevin harvick racing. Well brad gilbert not doing the one thing that we expect of him and that's winning races finishing well not necessarily collecting all the stage points along the way that they need to and and to your point winning races and not leading laps. He's led seventeen laps this year. All seventeen of happened in the daytona five hundred and that's pretty shocking to think that we've been to homestead. We've been to las vegas. We've now been to phoenix raceway. Where he's one nine times and he hasn't led a single lap since the season opening daytona. Five hundred they have done very well but also think they've done well when it comes to the end result of the day just simply because of the experience of kevin harvick and the experience of rodney chillers but it has not been from those lightning fast race cars that we've seen the past several seasons alexis. We've seen five different winners. Talked about at the top of the show. You feel like all five of the drivers. That have scored victories to this point. We'll be in the championship under reserve chance. That one of them could fall out of contention. Oh that's a really good question you know. I look at Christopher bell you know obviously he is in his first year with that team but he's been running really well. I mean he obviously has that win at the road course but he's been able to back it up with some pretty good finishes as well William byron you look at him he somebody who potentially could fall off but has been strong as well. I mean again. I just don't think we really have enough data to know what the future's going to hold for many of these teams You know obviously there's michael mcdowell he somebody who we know had a great first one two three races into the season and obviously is going to make the playoffs. But somebody who possibly won't make it out of the first or second round just just to gas brand. After we celebrated michael mcdowell three top tens in a row it looks like that teams come back down to earth a little bit of maybe playing it about the level where we thought they would be. And that's a great way to phrase it. I mean there's it's not disrespect again. It's just being objective. You can expect anything different than what we've seen anything different on the positive side of that then makes us look up and go. Wow they're over achieving right now and they absolutely overachieved the first three races of the season but things are going to be normal to your question about who's going to contend for the championship. The fact of the matter is one of our five winners is only one driver that has ever contended for the championship of that group. And i would find it hard to say this early. In the season look hendrick. Motorsports might be the strongest overall team right now. Are they going to be thirty racists from now you know when we get toward the championship that is a a an answer that You know or question that we don't have the answer to at this point. Let's spin the wheel of winter's here alexis and brad. We have five different winners after five races win. We get to that cutoff point after twenty six races. How many different race winners do you think. We'll have alexis. We'll start with you. Keep in mind. We have five after five to be honest with you. i'm going to say twelve. Just because it's the number that popped into my head because there's no way to really know we're off to a start where we have five different winners. We could certainly go to atlanta. Get are six different winner and bristol. I mean you know who knows what we're still has in store for us I i could see the potential for a lot of different winters. This season But again we'll just have to wait and see. I'm going to say you can mark the tape for for later on in the season i'm going to say we're going to have twelve different winners. This season thirteen is my number. The most we've had is fourteen in a regular season. We're not going to get to sixteen or beyond. We're just simply not. Because these drivers who have not won yet kevin harvick denny hamlin and kyle busch and chase elliott and people that we now expect to see in victory lane with some regularity brad kozlowski. Joey logano names when they start winning. They're probably going to keep winning in and we did start the season. With a unique winner in michael mcdowell. We did start the season with a first time winner in christopher bell but christopher bell for example is a driver that we expected at some point his career would find victory lane. Just like we've expected that william byron would find victory lane multiple times in kyle. Larson had proven before coming over to hendrick that he is a race winning drivers well. But then if you start to look at that number and say they're going to grow beyond thirteen or fourteen. Well who's it gonna be then. I know we've got road courses and you know some.

kevin harvick brad kozlowski brad gilly jeff hammond Kevin harvick William byron joe gibbs brad gilbert michael mcdowell Alexis erickson ten races Erickson Joey logano william byron thirteen twelve races Larson alexis five fourteen

"Here's your host, Doug rice. And greetings from the second floor of the famous pagoda at the start finish line a yard of bricks here at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I'm Doug rice joined by Jack Hamman and here a couple of hours after the end of the race, Brad Keselowski is standing out on the start finish line next to the Brickyard four hundred trophy doing what is commonly called the hat dash, Jeff. And do you want to describe what we're seeing right now? It's pretty funny. It really is. He's got one guy with a bag full of hats stand into the right of him. That's a NASCAR purse, and he is basically sitting the the size of the hat. He knows what rand needs he's tossing me and Brad puts it on his head, turns to the photographers, big smile. Maybe a finger up near number one. Then he turns around there's another gentleman to his left. He stole in hats there and he's putting him back in the Bank and this process has been going on. I believe there about hat number twenty easy, easy. At number, and I think he's still got it. Looks like about other five or ten on the ground before he's going to be done, but it's fun. And then the companies that he takes the pictures with these photographers will turn around and sell those back because they are already contracted to get all these pictures, and that's the hat dance and the guy that's catching the hats as longtime PR rep, Jimmy White. So Brad kes- Laskey right now doing the hat dance, and he is still probably got another two hours of media obliga- shins over in the big media center. I don't think he's even been over there yet. I believe he's been there and come back, but it doesn't matter. And when you win something the Brickyard if I say, look, you got another three hours, you know what you do you say yes, sir. Let's do it again. So Brad Keselowski wins a tight one here at the Brickyard passing Denny Hamlin with less than a lap and a half to go the two banged on each on the backstretch they connected again, Brad made a bold move, got underneath them and drove onto the victory in what I felt like was one of the more thrilling Brickyard four hundred. We've ever watched FM. It was the most thrilling Brickyard I've ever watched. I mean, it was incredible. These two guys were going at it and I love what you kept saying during the whole broadcast. I do not know who's going to win this race. It wait at one time, like a clear shot. It was going to be Denny Hamlin. It was going to be Kevin Harvick. Oh, no, no, hang on. It's going to be Clint Boyer. It was incredible to see. Brad Keselowski basically come out of the pack with just a few laps ago and become a player, and he willed his way up there. He got around any Hamlin and Brad's car was torn up earlier today. He had damaged on the left rear but managed to rally key point. He gets Roger Penske his first ever Brickyard four hundred trophy Pinski won the Indy five hundred seventeen times including this year when they won with willpower. But for Roger, this has got to be a spacial day for Brad kiss. Lasca you know, he's glad that he's Penske stock car driver that did what a lot of other good ones couldn't do. And that's bring Roger Brickyard four hundred trophy. When you start looking at his resume when it comes 'em showing up at Team Penske look what his accomplished multiple wins. He's also got Rodgers. First championship for his Cup was concerned, and he turns right around he gets a Brickyard win for him. So he's got some some. Big big, I guess you might say complements there. Well, he was his twenty fifth win coming in the silver anniversary of the brick yard, four hundred back to back victory coming off of Darlington. Just a lot going on for Brad Keselowski right now, and it was his fourteenth top ten finish this season. So he's, he's going on really well. Eric Jones rallied late in this race, but getting back to the point you made as this race went on it cycled through a lot of different strategies. And at times it looked like it was going to be Denny Hamlin's race..
