"Loans are certainly in the news today with the announcement out of Washington, but there's a lot that goes into it. You're right. I appreciate it. By the way, I just want to thank you again, Sonny for mentioning Wayne. I will contact his family. Thanks so much. And you take care of yourself and let's continue this some other time. John is up next in mobile. Hello, John. That's all appreciate you taking the call. Thank you. Thank you. I got a question. I've heard some things as an Alabama alum. You know, you're not supposed to take football life and death, but a little more important than that. But I was hard to think about this team last year and I wonder if you could verify the thing that I heard that and this is one of the reasons why I'm so excited about this coming year, basically Doug marrone quit about halfway through the year. Is that have you heard that? John, I don't know the timing of it. I just know based on people are close to the situation that they felt like he was doing a lousy job. And at some, I don't think he quit physically. He may have quit emotionally. Mentally. Yeah. Yeah. He got COVID after the auburn game. And coach pendry took offensive line over to the SEC championship game and to me, with the talent we've got up there if it's really what we think. With this coach coming from Kentucky's, I mean, to me that's yeah, that's interesting. For those who don't know, was I believe he was Saban's first O line coach at Alabama. Legendary guy, big reputation. Yep. You've given me something to find out. And I knew I know that that is an area that they are really happy with right now, but you never know. When you bring in a guy like Doug marrone, who's a head coach in the NFL, you think you're getting a good buy, you turned out, they got a lemon. And that happens every now and then, but I'm just, I'm really excited. Yeah, 'cause I think it's because basically what I was told was the last half of the year starting to say and M. That's what he had mentally checked out. And if you go back and look at the way our offensive line plays, it was horrible. Yeah, my concern, though, is this, John, and obviously the head coach knows what's going on at all times. I'm really interested in what he did or didn't do. It doesn't matter now, but I know it corrected it when he had to correct it, but he had two head coaches from the NFL on his roster. O'Brien worked out. I know there's always complaining about Bill O'Brien, but he's pretty well respected down there. Yep. Yep. Well, love the show and I look forward to this season. Thank you very much. Can't wait. Good to hear from you. Let's check in. With Seth, who is in Kentucky, hi chef. Hello? Hey, good afternoon. Yeah. I was curious. I had two questions. That I was curious a few weeks ago. It came out with a top 25 poll and what you thought about Kentucky being number 20 in there. If you think they were too high, too low, and what you thought about that. I felt like there were too low to me, Kentucky is. Right outside the top ten, maybe 11, 12, 13, 14, somewhere in there. But because of Kentucky's early schedule, I think it's irrelevant where they're ranked. They have so many big games early on. They have a chance against Florida. They can make it up pretty quickly. And I say this in I realize, let me correct myself. The Florida game is really important. And then they have two Mac schools, and then they go to old miss. So they have a chance in week two and week 5 to score some really big wins before. I mean, Kentucky has a very manageable schedule. When you look at it, it really looks good. They have a great chance to have a big year. Hey, thank you very, very much. James is in Marietta, Georgia. Hey, James. Hey, how you doing, man? James, we are doing great. Thank you. Man, I just wanted to talk about the amazing mailman. Stetson's been in and also Kirby smart shout out to those immortal George bulldogs. Bill's boys right there are gonna win it again. What are Rick Gilbert? With Washington and Brock Bowers, I promise you that I predicted the Ringo pick 6 last year. I predicted it because he was injured. And he's gonna do it again. I'm like, can't wait to see what Alabama in December. And I remember that you said that we would never win national championship. Well, I guess that's been changed. No doubt, baby. Was it cry? Walt is up next in Florida. Hey, Walt. Hey, Paul. I'm so good to talk to you. Thank you. I was wondering, talk to you about the oldest schedule. As you know, it's most unusual. We have four non conference games in the two east conference games then we have to play all 6 of the SEC west games back to back right at the end. And I was just wondering if you thought, is that going to be fortuitous or is it going to be overwhelming? I mean, the first half of the schedule is so manageable and really the Kentucky game is going to determine a lot in even auburn LSU. I mean, I think all miss has a really good shot at a fast start. I mean, they couldn't conceivably could be undefeated going to Texas a and M. How big a game would that be a school that they beat? Didn't they beat a and M last year? They did. They had to play them at a and M. Yeah, and then it really gets tough. I mean, they get that week off. Hard to come up. The Alabama Arkansas stretch is brutal, but it's the thing that I'm wondering about. Whatever happened to the tradition, remember when old miss in Alabama always played in the same weekend now a year ago they played in early October or was it late October? I'm trying to remember, they played Alabama, we were at the game. Yeah, it was early October. Now they're playing them in November. Yeah, they played October 2nd last year. And now they're playing them November 12th. That game is usually pretty early. I've never seen the illness Alabama game that late, but so many things have changed. Hey, we're up against a break. We are coming back much, much more, more guests to come, more of your phone calls, and we are back right after this. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. Hey, welcome

"Who is in the media for a living. I'm sure a lot of pats fans have watched it. But it was really interesting to me the first couple episodes, how important Belichick was to Brady with stuff I didn't totally realize or had read or I'd forgotten where they would meet every Tuesday and go over who they're playing for that week and go over the tape and go over all these different things. And he was basically admitting a man in the arena like I learned so much every Tuesday for Belichick. This is probably one of the best three or four football resources. Anyone's going to have. He's a young quarterback. He's on his way up. And he has this guy who knows everything and is able to just basically unpack defenses and take them apart and point out things. And he's like, there's no ad to be the poor I was if I didn't have that. So that's why it's really hard for me to separate them because I think if he's just on his coaches are like Doug marrone and Marty schottenheimer and ray Rhodes and he just has these random slew of coaches, kind of like what Rogers had. I don't think he has the same career. Now, would it have been three super bowls instead of 7? I don't know the exact number, but I don't think it would have been the same career. And I don't think Belichick would have the same career either. Well, they certainly would have had the same career so I guess the question is this. If someone drafts Brady in the 5th round, some other team drafts him in the 5th round before the Patriots do. Do we assume that just because of what he is sort of kind of proved and validated over time, does that suggest he would have had a very successful career regardless had he played for the Seahawks or the rams or whoever? I feel like he would have. Well, I just thought it wouldn't have been the career he had. I do sometimes wonder though, if a guy drops to the 6th round, the perception of him generally is this is probably a backup quarterback we're drafting. We're not seeing him as someone we're going to slot in sort of run the franchise. So if he goes elsewhere, does not only does he have a different career, but does he possibly accept a different career? Like, would he sort of be like, well, okay, I'm gonna be like a chase Daniel type person. I'm gonna dedicate my life to being sort of like a guy who can contribute to this team because he cares about winning and all these things. Or is the idea that he would have just powered through? And no matter what franchise he would have went to, he would have become the starting quarterback and they would have had massive success because I think the general sense is that, well, if Belichick had just coached a different team over this period, he still would have had quite a bit of success. Now, would he have been able to have a career that long in one spot without that kind of success? I mean, that's a long time for an NFL coach to be with the same team. But I think I was just kind of getting at it. I wonder like when if in Brady's mind, he still feels like they still see me as part of this thing when actually I led this thing. Like he goes to a different team, he wins a Super Bowl, but then this year, when the Patriots, especially in the middle of the year, and it kind of looked like maybe they were going to challenge, you know, for the conference. Then it was sort of like, ah, see? We were right before. It was this guy. When castle was there quarterback that one season where they go 11 and 5 or 12 and four, 11 and 5. So there wasn't a sense I think that there is to me somehow it still seems like that the coach is really the most important person and that could be a misguided thought. And I wonder if someone like Tom Brady looks at this and it just like it's like something he now realizes that is always going to exist. That conversation is always going to exist despite the fact that he did exactly what he must have assumed he would have needed to do to end this discussion. Like he goes to a different team, they immediately win the championship. Seems that should have been the end of the discussion, but that's not how it worked. We're taping this. It's 1 o'clock Pacific time. So maybe we'll find out why he didn't mention the past. I think there's three reasons for it. One is he felt like he already did it two years ago when he said goodbye the Patriots and he already checked those boxes and did all that stuff. Two is, you know, he thanked a lot of people on that and the Patriots, the crafts, Belichick, who was seem pretty obvious they weren't there. Maybe there was some weird reason for that that will come out later. Three, this is nephew Kyle's dream that he's going to come back to the Patriots and sign a one day contract and retire. So it's one of those three. But you're talking about what his career looks like on another team and it's an interesting.

"You get to me on Twitter at Fred gall 855-242-7285 of course. The big news today, Chris button going to join us, she's covering the Missouri army bowl game, which is taking place a little bit later on 7 o'clock p.m. Eastern Time. The Lockheed Martin armed forces bowl, of course, that one coming up tonight in Fort Worth really interesting match of styles there with the army triple option versus the Missouri defense that couldn't bust a great this year. So we shall see Missouri and army. We'll talk about her coming up about 30 minutes. The big news, Texas, a and M will not play in the gator bowl due to COVID overtaking their program. And then the college will all play off, of course, has now issued new protocols, new rules for forfeitures, what's going to take place for any of the three games or the four teams that are playing in the playoff. Of course, those two games next Friday on New Year's Eve. And the most important thing here, obviously besides the health and safety of everybody involved, which we assume and hope is all fine. But number one after that is making sure all the rules are set ahead of time so that everyone knows what rules they have to follow. What you don't want to see is two days before a game, all of a sudden, a new rule from the NCAA or from the college football playoff committee and all of a sudden you got one team that didn't know that's what was going to be. The case or again, I'm okay being flexible and being malleable and being agile around this issue so that we can get the games in, but it needs to be fair for everybody involved that everybody involved knows the rules, which is why they put out the rules today and the protocols today, which are that if you can't play, because of COVID, you will forfeit. If that's Alabama against Cincinnati, since then, he's going to move on to the national championship game. If that's Georgia against Michigan, Michigan's going to move on to the national championship game. If Michigan and Georgia both get it, and both can't play on Friday next week, then the winner of the Alabama Cincinnati game is your national champion. If two teams get to the national championship game and neither team can play, there will be no national champion. That's the rule that I you lose me on. That's the one that I kind of go wait a second. We can't find another day to play this. They're going to give four days of scheduling. So the game is scheduled for January 10th on a Monday. They are going to allow for it to be moved three to four days to January 14th at the latest. I would argue when is too late to have the national championship game. I would say the Monday after that, the Monday after that, can we just wait until neither team has it anymore? And then we can play the game. That's the one that drives me nuts is the just we're just not going to have a champion this year. That one bugs me for sure. The other ones I guess I can understand. But the not having a champion thing, if there's already, if we're already down to two teams, I'm not sure why we can't just wait it out and play a game. Find his find a building, find a stadium, figure out a way to get fans there, whatever. I feel like there's got to be a way to get it done. 855-242-7285 and go in for Paul Feynman. Let's head to the phones and Jason and Alabama first up this hour. Jason, welcome to the Paul find bomb show. Hi, Brad. Thank you for taking my call. Sure. Yeah, I just wanted to say that I don't know if you've heard it reported or not, but a couple of the Alabama assistant coaches has been diagnosed with COVID. I think they're reporting it. Doug marrone and offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien have been sent home for the preparation from a cotton bowl. I didn't know if you knew that or not. Yeah, I just saw the Bill O'Brien news about two or three segments ago and obviously JT Daniels yesterday testing positive as well. Thank you, Jason for the call. But again, this is how it starts, guys. Like this is I'm not trying to be like some doomsday profit here, but and again, everyone should be fine, especially if they're vaccinated. Everyone should be fine. Health and safety should not be a major concern here. It's about the transmission of it all. And so again, JT Daniels, what does that mean for the rest of the quarterback room for Georgia? Bill O'Brien, what does that mean for the rest of the coaching staff for Alabama? And does that mean players have been exposed? We just don't know. And so again, we're about what 9 ten days away from the semifinals next Friday. That sounds strange, but like now is the time you wanted to burn through your locker room, which is a terrible thing to say. But that's where we are. It's hard to believe that this is not going to affect a lot of college football teams over the course of the next week and a half. Which is why the committee put out these protocols today. 855-242-7285. Yeah, we'll see what happens with the coaches for Alabama. That is for sure. Steve from Alabama, Steve, welcome to the show. How are you? Thank you. Let's just say we have both the semifinal games. Alabama, Georgia wins. Okay. If Alabama comes down with COVID, before the tenth, then they push it to the 14th. And they get cleared to play on the 14th, but Georgia gets it. What happens? Oh gosh. Alabama would be your champion. I guess. I wouldn't push it back any further. That's what, again, according to according to the press release, that's what it says. So even though Georgia was healthy on the team. Yeah. I hear you, Steve. Yeah, appreciate it. Yeah, thank you for the call see. I'm with you, dude. These are the things we never thought we ever were going to have to deal with. In college football ever two years ago. And yet here we are. Almost two full years later, still dealing with this crap. Thank goodness it's we're at the point where most people are fine. But I agree like George is ready to go on the tenth. Alabama can't go so they push it back all of a sudden gets infected. Alabama is your national champion. That doesn't seem right. I agree. But here we are. This is where we are in college football in sports. Now, again, I think the NBA, if you want to follow someone and see how they're doing it, I think personally, again, just my opinion, I think the NBA is doing the best things to try to keep games on track and on schedule. They're allowing NBA teams to sign additional players, creating extra roster spots. So if somebody goes on a COVID list, you can then sign an additional player..

"I didn't hear you. I don't know if you don't let me hold again, but you know, you got this guy, Shannon, I tell you about him. He's an excuse or is an excuse artist he wants to put out thoughts information against me, which is typical of people that got nothing. He's got nothing. He did attack me on the show. And I know you remembered he did it about a month ago. He did it more than once. But that's all I got, Paul. They got excuses. They got false propaganda attacks. They got no game. Shannon, you got no game. You're the jackass. You idiot. That's all I got, Paul, but I'm sorry. I just can't take idiots like him, you know? Thank you, Jim. Larry is up next, speaking of people who are not idiots. You remember it pretty well, don't you? Oh, yeah. I haven't thought about anything else this weekend, other than your call. Yeah, right. Now, man, you know what? You asked me why do you think I'm a winning? I told you. I told you why. You didn't like us complete food, you know? And Larry, let's revisit that phone call. You said Larry, what's going to happen? He said, bam is going to go and win. I said, why are they going to win? And you said? Right. You sure did say that. No, Larry. Doesn't matter how cogent your explanation was. It was correct. Yeah, you know, you said some Sunday that I was listening to you like on Sunday when the games were over. Yeah. And you said something that was really about you said, yeah, these bamboo fans a lot of them just call in and get people fired and just listen 5 and you're right. But I have never planned with my team. I'll let the coaches Simon and the coaches take care of that farm. But you know, but you know after the a and M game and after the LSU game and other games, I mean, there were a lot of calls right here. We want pea golden fire. We want to Bill O'Brien fired. We want Doug maroon fire. Frankly, Doug moron. Doug marrone may have won the SEC championship for Alabama with how he got that line prepared. In moron, they don't find out attention. The main reason why we lost in the craft. And I'm trying to rebuild outline and we get the center. Then there's an end. I play attention to that. But I don't know I want it when. Oh, my brother's father's sick of him. By and what they are just moron. They are not. When you're a fan is like red dog, these take place. They might call in, they took it. And I respect these guys. I think this was a little bit different for Kirby smart because it's like remember when Alabama lost LSU and 2011 within two weeks, they were already back in it. So you remember a season by how it ends, not what happened on the first weekend in December. My I could do. I'm just hilarious. I'm just worried about you worried about Cincinnati at all? I worry about everybody power. I don't know. I want that team throw that bow around. My God. Then I got their own thing going on. And when you take a team and say, oh, man, are you laying upon be careful? Well, Larry, thank you for the call. Appreciate it. Let's check in with Mike and Jacksonville. Hey, Mike. Hey, Paul, how are you doing? Oh, Mike, we're doing great. Well, I will tell you. I'm like this. I don't really feel curious smart is really a friend of Nick Saban. He's afraid of Nick Saban. Yeah. That defense did not play against Alabama the way they played the whole year. No. They gave Bryce young the Heisman award. They put it in his hand. You're right, when he gets up there, stary night. He shouldn't thank his own offensive line. He should thank the Georgia defense of line. Thank them for taking the night off. Hey, thanks for the call. We're up against a break. We have a lot to do. We.

"This will be known as the Bryce young gate. I mean, he was just spectacular. He was accurate. He was innovative and freelance. I mean, he was wonderful. I thought Bill O'Brien did a really good job moving him off platform, working in tempo and quick game and really doing all the telltale things, a good coordinator does to negate a talent advantage. And I give a lot of credit to Doug marrone, the other former NFL head coach who washed ashore at Alabama this off season. Because look, that offensive line was atrocious in armor in that Saturday night. And it was just a completely different unit. Nick Saban spent a lot of the postgame compliments in the line. Their preparation, their physicality, was something that was readily apparent and yeah, it was just it was a tale of two teams. It's interesting, Pete, because Doug Moroni and Bill O'Brien have come under enormous criticism. Not by you and me, but by Alabama fans throughout the season and they were the stars of the show. Let me get a quick thought on Kirby smart before we move into the utterly bizarre coaching carousel. I mean, I realized any answer here could be could be outdated in a couple of weeks of Kirby's holding up the national championship trophy, but that's a big gift right now. Yeah, I think it's interesting. Georgia had a wonderful season and they have a great team. And what's going to define Kirby smart going forward both for this season and for the rest of his tenure. And I'm a big believer in Kirby. And he spent 82% of his games, right? He's completely modernized that place brought it in the right direction. The people who don't think Kirby smart has done enough worn around long enough to see how far he's pushed that program from when Mark Rick was. But until you win and probably saw this with Bill shelf comes to mind in basketball. Jim baham even earlier in my career. You know, the excellent excellent high end coaches who haven't done it. Kirby said to me last week in Athens, you get enough at bats, one of these times you're going to get a hit. And I think that was his way of saying if we keep putting out top 5 teams, one of them is going to win it. And so what he's going to be judged on going forward here is how Georgia responds to this. Did they get enough out of that out of that defense? They didn't seem to get any pressure on grecian, hardly at all throughout the afternoon there. And what they do at the quarterback position, you'd be naive to think nobody in that Georgia dome sat there watching Bennett down 10.14 points whatever it was thinking he could lead a comeback. And does the return of George pickens give you another reason? I mean, they didn't really need to throw the ball downfield. I think they targeted Bowers that said entry is a wonderful player, 16 times. Which gives you a little bit of a window into just both your strategy and a little bit of limitations. Pete, let's turn the page to what has been going on since then. And I want to get to Ben bowls and some other coaching situations. And I've always liked many Diaz I've never really been sure he was an elite coach, but in reading and employee many deals. Exactly. Well, you know how I am about those things. But I was just in reading your stuff and just watching it from a distance. I mean, it's hard to put into words with this university did to him. I'm wondering if Mario christoval had finally said no this morning would many Diaz have still been the coach. Yes, he would have. I mean, it's that part is pretty simple. And I wrote a comment about this on Yahoo. Late last night, that's up there right now. Basically said, this is sort of the you announcing itself is back and it's bold and they have new money and they have blind ambition and quite frankly they didn't have a whole lot of tap yesterday. I've never seen a coach squirm. And I guess if I really sat bought about it, there's some other situations Houston left major apple out out the drive for a bunch of days so they can see it on the buyout a few years ago. But considering the job and the stakes and how public everything was, it was an unprecedented situation that many DS went through yesterday and I had a lot of sympathy for him just as a human. And I got dozens and dozens of texts from coaches expressing the expressing the same, but as of last night, nobody at Miami said anything to Manny about what was happening. So he just like recruited. He got a commitment on Saturday. So it was just a bizarre situation. It was poorly handled, and look, in some ways, if you're Miami fan, you want to move on into this bold bright future. You say, well, this is good. You know, we don't care about feelings. We're going to push on. And that's sort of the vibe that's been given off. But obviously, you're in this business for a while. You know people and it's just like on a personal level. That was pretty cruel. Well, they did get a big fish as a big game hunt as Scott Woodward likes to be perceived as. So what does this mean to Mario Cristobal because he did have it going at Oregon? Well, up until he ran into Utah a couple of times. Yeah, I think Paul means that Mario, Christopher's home and he gives Miami the best chance to become some new version of Miami. They are not going to dominate like they did understand burger or under Jimmie Johnson or anything to that level. But there's certainly no reason that with great leadership, which they should be getting soon from Dan radical, which becomes an AD. That they can't push forward into a new era and be vibrant and relevant. There's too much talent down there. And the brand is still too good despite two decades of trying to undercut it through poor leadership, and they made some bad coaching homes when you really go back and look through it. Randy Shannon didn't work out. Al golden was a bad fit. These pretty good coach, but he never adjusted either. There's blame to go all around. But as that time went on, the difference here is really a simple one Paul. Miami never had a lot of money as an athletic department. If somebody told me once, they told me a hundred times in the last month, money is not a problem. Money's not a problem. Money's not a problem. They have a new tied to a hospital system down there and the nuances of that are certainly above my head, but it is created hundreds of millions of revenue for the university, the university realizing that it became a big bold national brand at court because of its big bold national football program is eager and anxious to put more money into athletics to use them as that front porch. I mean, it was one of the great front porches for a generation for any kind of school. And so that's where that's where Miami is as university right now. And it'd be hard to bet against Mario Cristobal really really unlocking it. Many gifted them a top flight quarter pack who's one of the best young quarterbacks in all of college football. In Tyler Van Dyke. And I really feel like with the portal and all the talent that leaves there in the crystal ball is proven to be a high end college coach. And really got a great start and running and running program. We want a rose bowl of Oregon, he made us the bowl last year he won the PAC 12. So those are good credentials and good shops and yeah, I mean, remember that turnover change year, Paul, I think it was 2017..

"The pride passion that pageantry of college football lives here. This is the Paul Fein bomb show our four podcast. And we're back final hour has arrived. We'll talk to top mayor who was in Tuscaloosa for the Alabama game, some thoughts on that. And the Dan Mullen situation, let's get back to the calls. Kevin is in Atlanta. Hello, Kevin. Hey, Paul. Longtime caller first time listener. I'm calling you today to pretend to be in Alabama fan because there's reason to make fun of their ignorance and lack of respect for the English language. Hey, Paul, that's your first name, hey, middle name Paul, last name find bob. Hey, Paul. Let me tell you something. I don't agree with that order on a whole bunch, but an order on say something I agree with. LSU was the better team. Then he said some nonsense about putting his players in a position to win the game. His players put him in a position to win the game and he stabbed him in the back. He left him out on the field to die. They couldn't have kicked the field though, hailed him one more time. Three minutes, three minutes on the clock, Paul, and they stopped and I think three times no points for Alabama, Alabama is washed up as Alabama's hand, make believe Alabama's good. We need to hire another coach, Paul, go dogs. Logan is up next in North Carolina. Hello, Logan. Hey, Paul, good Monday. That was pretty funny, Kevin. I just wanted to say, I'm really disappointed in the tide, Paul, and I don't know. I've never seen a coaching staff under saving it that so poor you know how I feel on Pete golden. That goes without saying, but it's a pretty bad day. This is the first time pea golden's names even been mentioned. Oh, is it? Okay, I'm sorry. I didn't catch the whole show, but I'm sure everybody's on the same page as I am. I don't see him surviving this year, but Billy Brown really disappointed me fall. I mean, they threw the same defense that a and M did against us and it seemed like he wasn't making adjustments. I mean, they were playing our receivers 5 yards, ten yards off and he kept sending him out for deeper outs. He wasn't throwing screens or anything. So I don't know in a new cabin likes to make fun of Alabama fans like we don't know what's going on, but I don't know. What did you think about that? I was really disappointed. I've heard a lot of criticism today of Doug marrone and Bill O'Brien. The defense played pretty well when you chisel it down. But they weren't really playing a high powered offense. I find it. I found it inexcusable that Alabama played that poorly against a team that had already fired its coach. And was barely alive from a player roster standpoint. And what was even more surprising was Saban laissez-faire attitude after the game, hey, we're really excited. We won the game. I mean, I don't know, maybe he was playing games, knowing that this was not the time for a meltdown. But it really did make a lot of people wonder. Yeah, I agree. And I mean, I think the way he's treating his team, there's something wrong there. I've never seen say, but not get on somebody. I'm wondering if you sneak in these guys really can't take the criticism and they won't respond to it. That's the only thing I could think of is why he's always happy and positive at the end of these games. Well, you do have to remember Logan, you got a quarterback who's making a $1 million. You got other players making money and he I would defer to Saban to know the personality of this team and you may be right. He's more limited maybe than he has been in the past to come down on them. Yeah, I think that's what it is Paul. I mean, I'm not an insider by any means, but one more thing about I was around at least I see of him the better. I'll be glad what he's gone. I mean, I saw him throwing up the ale. His stands. I'm like, yeah, you're a loser, man. Get out of the stadium and go back to L issue. And I'm hopefully he's done. So I'm tired of seeing that guy. I can assure you. He is done. He's got a couple more games remaining, but I don't think you're going to hear too much more from edou giron. Vernon is up next a hello vern. Yeah. Another spin on the Davos sweat thing. Let's say he got fired everything went to heck with Clemson and maybe Nick Saban hired him as one of his offensive consultants. He worked his way up. Hey, let me stop you right there. Dabo Sweeney just signed like a lifetime contract there. He's not getting fired. Okay, Paul, thank you. Yeah, I think I don't mean to be the on budgets of my own show, but sometimes we do have to come in here and set the record straight. Chris is up next. Hello Chris, good afternoon. Good afternoon. I just wanted to comment about the Alabama last game. And then off season long, really, you know, there are good wins and bad wins and there's good losses and bad losses. You know, people say that a win is a win is win. Now that was not a good win and to be on the offensive coordinator in one game, is kind of showing that you really don't know the game of football because the offense is really kept us in games that we that the defense tried to lose, and that was Tennessee and of course the last game, LSU and then the drew a blank, but there's another game in there. It could last very easily. Little Florida game. Without the first half of the Florida game, Alabama would have been doomed. There you go. So my issue is after 8 games, 9 games in the season now and you're 8 and one, okay, you should be probably 8 and 6 and two at base, but anyway, my numbers, 6 and three, but the problem I have with the response that saving came out with in the press conference, you know, was he was proud of his effort after a by week against the four and four LSU team and who's got their third string or third three beef in their depth chart on there. And that could be a good thing in some cases, but the linebackers, the defense, it's one thing to have bad players on feeling which everybody can see in the middle linebackers and then a couple of safety people, but it's another thing for the coast to stay there improving and they're proud of their effort and their performance and their playing better last year, but here's the thing. If you play linebacker and you don't hit anybody, you're out of position. You don't belong in that position period. And he's got he's got 8 four and 5 stars on the roster right now that could probably all start over over them two guys. I don't understand the lower you'll see and I don't understand his happiness. And he gets on the wrong players, instead of getting on his starting unit, he gets on, he hollers and screams at third teamers who are who are expected not to be able to perform, but are trying to learn and get experience. And that's the one he chooses to yell at. So Kirby, Kirby's got it all going. Kirby's got offense and defense..

"Todd downing looks exactly like he did several years ago it's like hey man chandler jones. He's one of the best court or the best pass rushers in the league. Your guy right now coming off an acl camp block them. You need help. You can't run these play action boots toward ninety five. It's not gonna work my man. Change it up. arthur smith. Is he going to be a good head coach. I got no clue. Being coordinator and being head coach are two completely different things but he was a great play. Caller his instincts for calling plays. Were elite just like you watch. Mcveigh you watch on peyton. You watch kyle when those guys are on. It's like god they just have a feel for it. Todd downing has no feel for it. Sure he's being paid seven figures by the titans. He's stealing absolutely stealing just like he was several years ago with the raiders. Because he's completely over his head. I don't see how this gets better. They have a ton of talent. Your got able colin out. Julio jones as a head coach and as a gm. I think we put so much emphasis and i hammered this home. All the time on the draft on the draft on the draft. There is so much more job than the draft. If i'm a head coach there's the draft there's free agency there's developing my practice squad but one of the most important jobs that we never talk about or hiring coaches. I mean we do when it's really bad but we don't that much time like who are you putting on your staff. Nick saban consistently has elite staffs right now is offensive. Coordinator is bill o'brien. I know everyone on twitter eating cheetos on their couch things. Bill bryan's the village idiot. He won the the. Afc south four times in six years that happened in one. Multiple playoff games so relative to most offensive coordinator's in in college football. They can't hold us jock. That's who his offense coordinator is. Oh yeah his offensive line coach. Doug marrone was the head coach of the jags who was in the afc champs game like three years ago. That's his old line coach. So when arthur smith leaves. And you go to todd downing and i like mike able but it was probably the easy thing to do. He was on staff. Continuity continuity isn't always the right thing if the guy's not meant for the job. And i just think todd downing. I don't think we do enough. We can be critical players but being a players heart. It is now if you make mental errors in just do stupid shit. No problem being critical. And we're always going to be critical of the quarterbacks. Even though we all agree it's hidden no one else. Small percentage of humans can do it. But i do think a lot of people then coach football and a lot of people now get the opportunities the amount of money that's involved. I think we get a group of guys saying todd downing is in the profession for money but i think we have a lot of coaches in the profession. Money and fame comes with it now more than ever. And you're getting guys that aren't like bill. Check andy reid. And pete carroll like i've at their first paychecks for like five thousand dollars a year like they didn't get in this for the glitz and the glamour and they got into it for the right reasons and then it turns out they were good. We got a lot of people in it for the wrong reasons and also. That just aren't good like this guy's just terrible at his job so just something to keep an eye on for sure.

"If you've developed a high school kid or use that as your pitch to other kids to get them to come to your high school so it works both ways and and i think the other thing is that he can pitch as as much as it's about the success they have at the college level. You have to assistance. Who are former. Nfl coaches brian. Doug marrone like do you want to come here and get coached by. Nfl coaches whether you stay a bamboo or not that in and of itself for a sport. That's highly developmental is huge. Because you go and take that wherever you go. Even if you don't make obama can transfer employees immediately. You're going to get that coaching for at least a year or two. So i just i look at it and say like they've got everything working for them were even former. Nfl head coaches will step down a level. And say yeah. I'll go call poise for nick. Sabin to go through the car washer. I'll go coach their offensive line. I mean brian debut who's going to be a head coach. The play caller for the buffalo bills won a national championship. Bounce right back to the nfl and is now going to be one of the hot names. That will get a head coaching job. After this season its you. Bring up the coaches the he the program at alabama nick savings program. There are so successful. That on coaches become higher -able again just being there. Big about steve. Sarkissian got fired for being drunk. He's now the head coach at texas. Mike largely do real well lot new mexico state. he goes to geico's there and now he's the head coach maryland late lane. Kiffin got fired on the tarmac. He's now the head coach at ole miss. Like all of these guys bill. O'brien to be head coach. "I guess that's where a part of your foot disconnects from the other part and they have to kind of put that thing together. The thing about the foot is you know there's so much going on down. There is so much going on ligaments bones little joints little. This is connected to this. It's like a puppet in there in. There's things could be separated fractured cracked. I mean the stress fracture possibilities. Because i think somebody came out and said like respite. Help this as well. So it was like isn't a stress fracture. How do you fix that. You just have to wrap it. There is so much that can happen in the foot and by the way the foot is so vital to every part of your day. And i assume you don't realize that until you break something in their hope courses okay but in this game. Hey he's guy jacobson guy we like them in there too. We find with number nine. I do appreciate everything he's saying but he tweeted that after carson got hurt will we ever see a healthy carson wentz now to ever potentially maybe get a freezing cold. Take on that particular thing there in. What does that off is. Actually the highlights. That we've seen from gardner menchu or was last year garments. You hurt me. "Feel like discussions of national championship should be perfect segue when we looked to break down the defending champion from season ago and paint. I don't think it'll surprise anybody. When you look at alabama fan duel sportsbook there less than two to one to win the national title there an overwhelming favorite to come out of the sec west at minus four fifty. And when you look at their win total. It's eleven and a half shaded to the younger. Of course we know that the most electric offense that we've seen in tuscaloosa will not bring back a lot of their key. Playmakers nausea harris and of course devante smith taking their talents to the nfl combining for fifty five touchdowns last year. Mack jones get gone of course as well. But it's rare if you're a team in college football you bring in two former. Nfl head coaches and bill. O'brien and doug marrone to help pass the baton to the next heir-apparent embrace young under center. I don't know how much they're actually going to do. Or how much you actually want him to do. Listen nick listen. Nick and hope that they can keep players on the straight narrow that are collecting seven figure paydays at least on the books under an i l. arrangements compared to Bitcoin trust and everything else. They used to collect in the past the one thing with alabama that they've adhered to under this offensive. Change the last few years is that our offense is not changing. If you're coming into the sabin rehab program you're going to adapt to our offense or guys aren't constantly learning new systems and it seemed work but when i look at alabama's dominant they've been with nick. Sabin the only one back to back championships wants it. Feels like with his system. Continuity plays a large role. And that's something alabama's offense that you alluded to just doesn't have this season now. No one's feeling bad for alabama the way they were crew. But you're replacing. Six players drafted in the first twenty four picks five on offense and totally replacing three starters along the line to starting receivers a tight end and a quarterback and it's not just the players four offensive assistance. Four offense of analysts. They've all moved on. So alabama's offense is gonna regress. That is not a question. It's happening the real question for me. Is how large dip.

"To get your money in good before football season starts and even if you want to dabble with olympics baseball or something else along the lines. Has you covered pain. I guess i'm pretty fortunate that we're even able to record this friday podcast because i got a little bit of family. Help to try and put me over the hump. Yeah i mean you're a big time guy out in la hobnobbing with the The powerful and you forgot your laptop notes for the sec. Podcast so did you propose on the spot when she took to hand you your laptop notes and then said hey. I'm gonna work from the airport all day on my quick turnaround back. I did not and we obviously don't talk a lot about our personal lives here. We focus more on the brass tacks and picking winners. But i have to give my girl friend of nearly four years a ton of credit. Because i realized after driving out to la. I left a laptop at home which argue the dumbest possible thing. I could leave behind. You know if. I leave address shirt if i leave a pair of shoes. There's only stores you can go pick that crap but left. The laptop home called her and said you see in the kitchen. She said hip. See your bag right here. So we try to figure out fedex options and everything else that may or may not be possible and she decided jump on a flight first thing in the morning to fly the laptop out to la work from the airport all day before heading back. The worst part about that pain. I don't even think i told you. She got stuck on the tarmac for three hours. Because there was bad weather to fly into in vegas so little to say what she did and let her get some indian pretzels while she was waiting. You know what that is her favorite. I'm not sure few was cinnamon or she might have done some earth cafe. She didn't disclose the menu. But i can tell you salt of the earth in terms of doing that. So shout out to her although she'll probably never hear this because i don't think she's listened to one single podcasts. We've done and what we said about the on our pac twelve pocket. She's definitely not gonna listen anytime soon. I fully assumed. That's why last week i give you the benefit of the doubt. I said. hey it's preseason we discussed which order of teams we're gonna go into. Oregon was the first team all week. And then we get to recording and boom. It's it's usc. I thought that was because of the girlfriend. Yeah i think she gets more angry that her program hasn't been able to win a national championship in fifteen years Regardless of what we have to say about it but i feel like discussions of national championship should be perfect segue when we looked to break down the defending champion from season ago and paint. "The third time's the charm for the sec. The third and final day hoover alabama the reigning national champions. Talk about turning the page as the sec wraps up media days tomorrow as for the acc. They got their oath party started. That was today in charlotte north carolina coastal division. Kick things off. You'll hear the news out of the acc as well having to be with you here on college football live. I'm wendy net for desmond howard and greg mcelroy. We always like a good buzz greg. That's just the way it works. And it sounds like there's a little bit of buzz out of the sec. What can you tell us. A little bit is an understatement. Wendy the room within the last five or six minute minutes emptied into the main ballroom. Where jimbo fisher set to take the stage part of the reason why the houston chronicle has reported the texas and oklahoma have actually reached out to the sec and kinda gauge. Their infant interest in the possible realignment meaning the texas and oklahoma could become the fifteenth and sixteenth member members of the sec which would create college. Football's first super conference. So obviously people panic at the fact that it's an md makes it even more insane but windy it is. It is buzzing here like it hasn't buzzed in quite some time. There's no question about that in the timing of course impeccable justice jimbo steps after the podium. Listen we haven't had a super conference. I would say. Can you imagine. But i know you can cause anything's possible. What's your take on the possible to additions to the sec. Initially i would want to understand. What's the motivating factor behind that thought process. I mean what would you want to joy outside of it. Being a super conference the conference this considered the strongest conference in college football with the greatest college football coach art arguably that we've ever seen. Why would you wanna get into that conference and not have a chance to nick. Saban alabama. i don't understand the motivating factor behind that could've ric flair once before. I'll say it again to be the best gotta beat the best. I doubt that set. But we'll talk more about this coming up. There's no question about that. We will though turn the page drake now and talk about the reigning national champions. It was their day at media day after beating ohio state to win a six national. I don't nick sabin. "Coordinators is is nothing short of of mind boggling and the they come there for a reason and that's debts to kickstart their career or restart it or rehab their image whatever it might be and so what they're doing offensively yes. They've got a new quarterback. Yes they've lost a ton of But they just it's reload and replace and and nobody. Does it like that. So i'm not concerned about personnel defensively. They're very good. Got great young talent in the secondary. The some people think there might be some questions in the secondary. The guys i saw their last year playing his freshman Were legit all-america candidates. Back there. And i think they're going to be in good shape with a guy like josh joel but at one corner especially but bill bryant comes in. And here's a guy who is a versatile offense of mind going back for penn state days. You'd go back to georgia tech days when you is with ralph region. There's a lot of creativity in that minds. he can. He can take these new high powered offenses with these pieces in and adapt because he's coached a lot of different styles in fact when he was attacked with ralph region. They had a game against florida state. Were they checked from five wide into the wish wishful. That's how versatile this guy can be in any given segment so he comes in and save and says you know listen. He doesn't know if he's going to be there for a year or two years or three years. O'brien's hope is you come in you. We had the offense. Your image boom. You're back out the door. i paying head coaching job. It's going to be the same offense. "Gardner, Minshew. I hate the way Gardner meant she was treated by the black jaguars. Did you know the garden when she was the only quarterback? That's won a game? Starting for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the last two years The way he's treated was said, inexplicably the Jaguars just benched him midseason. Put in a rookie quarterback, Jake Luton who was awful and then later instead of going back to Gardiner, they put in Mike Glennon off the Jaguars, didn't support, Gardner, Minshew at all, and then they benched him. And I I know people are going to think I'm sounding like a fan and the snap. But this is a hill, I will die on. Is that if you give birth of a good team, put him in Pittsburgh put him in San Francisco, put him on the Minnesota Vikings. Gave him the talent of the Green Bay Packers. If you gave Gardner Minshew age football, team around him, the Colts, even he would win a lot of football games. Unfortunately, the Jaguars refused to build around him, they said now we're not going to do that. They were tanking for Trevor and if Garden was on a good team, he would win. That is a hill. I will die on in the NFL. So 2020, resulted in the Jaguars firing their head coach Doug Marrone, they replaced him by hiring Urban Meyer birth. A coach you by the way. It's never coached in the NFL before. Now the biggest surprise of the Jaguars 2020 season was there. Undrafted rookie running back James Robinson, he had an outstanding breakout year. He ran for one thousand and seventy yards, seven touchdowns. He also caught 49 passes for 344 yards and three touchdowns. So the Jaguars had a running back James Robinson also had a quarterback Gardner Minshew. So to me it feels like a lack of evaluation. Do they not? Are they not aware? They had the quarterback problem solved, they're not aware, they had the running back problem solved because in the draft They drafted in the first round, Trevor Lawrence a quarterback and running back Travis Etienne. Now, to me if you already have a quarterback, you already have a running back to replace them, we didn't need to feel. It's a big job done. Didn't feels like a judgment error, like you can't evaluate your own players. They didn't really need a running back or a quarterback, but the front office had tanked for Trevor..

"The team's confidence. Well that could be the case. And it's just going to get worse because i if indeed. The locker room is split of that they don't see it that way and the players the players see what it what it is and depending upon the relationship with carson wentz Jalen hurts very dynamic individual coming into it they obviously. It obviously gave them a spark. The last month of the season something they hadn't had in philadelphia. You're right. this is gonna be a tough one for for. Doug peterson for mr laurie. The owner for high rose from the general manager to get this team back and get them believe because they now have an office off season to kind kinda get healthy and and put some pieces back together but this quarterback controversy and the way it was handled is going to be something for them to handle. All the way leading into next season and continuity is really important brian. And yet you've got a guy that comes into the game late in the game. It's on the line. Nate sud failed who hasn't thrown a pass since two thousand eighteen in. He had some real problems to getting started. I mean he fumbled the ball. Bad passes that sort of thing i mean. I don't see that. That is everything. I i've never heard of before in. Nfl competition. yeah and and the fact that he did place reportedly and hat did not have. It's not like he. He put carson's back in the game. Or more veteran when ryan fitzpatrick goes back in the game for to attack a via low at miami. The reason for that. And you're able to negotiate going forward so yeah this is gonna be a tough one for philadelphia to negotiate all the way through the offseason and of course after the regular season you have black monday and three more head coaches. Join the ranks of those fired. The chargers anthony lynn. Doug marrone jacksonville. And the jets adam. gays was. Let go as well joining bill. O'brien at houston dan. Quinn atlanta and the lions matt patricia. Take a look at those openings at all those teams which one appears to be the most appealing to coach might want to have a head job or or wants to change teams well. We're always asked that question this time of year and what's interesting this year first. Nfl jobs hard to come by. Okay so every job is a good job. But you usually it simple okay. What's the quarterback situation. How readily can i fix it. Because that's the way your organization's going to go. And when you look at these clubs some interesting. I mean. There's some good quarterbacks you look at detroit in matthew stafford to shawn watson is one of the great really young quarterbacks in the game with the texas matt ryan With the falcons. I mean these these. These are marquee. Quarterbacks itself could certainly play anthony land in with the charges now with this young a justice. Herbert it's really really looks good. And you're looking at both the jets and the jaguars with the first and second pick with three very interesting quarterback prospects coming out of the college game. You're gonna have lots of options. Trevor lawrence from clemson justin fields from ohio. State and young. Man zack wilson from byu. So this is going to be an interesting there. What might try to say as all the jobs are going to look good. Because you're going to have options at the quarterback position. How hard is it to evaluate. What a coach did this season. I know you've got the record that always jumps out at you but when you give the dynamics of what the season was like with covid limited opportunities in preseason and exhibition games in everything i mean. Is it really fair to evaluate or just use that record as the lone evaluator for firing coach. Yeah it's not fair but that's the nfl and it's going to be done anyway. You're right. I mean when you look at it. You'd think well every coach ought to get a mulligan here but we saw it with three firings during the season both in in detroit and houston and atlanta And then after the season's over anthony anthony land again. They found a good young quarterback and justin herbert but they had what seven seven games that they lost after leading. That's just going to leave a mark management's not gonna let that happen and in jacksonville doug marrone who's has struggled. The last few years part of the equation. I know is that particularly as jacksonville is going to have to do to go. Get a new quarterback. If you're going to do that you pretty much have to get a new coach because otherwise you kind of get out of sync if it's coach. Spend there for a while and you get the rookie and he has a typical rookie year. Then you fire him now. The rookie has to make a new adjustment So that was that was the one that was probably the most predictable in that. They're going a new direction at the quarterback position so they did the same thing at the coaching position. Let's talk about the wild card weekend saturday. A off games. You've got the number two seated bills against the number seven colts rams and the seahawks will square off again. This will be up at seattle. And also the buccaneers going up against washington. The late game. That'll be on saturday. How do you see those three. Well i think the indianapolis and buffalo game. Maybe the most intriguing buffalo just such a tremendous story. Josh allens playing as well as any quarterback has played in a long time in. This guy is special. The defense is getting better and indianapolis. This is a sneaky. Good t- The running the ball better now playing really good defense. Philip rivers is played as well as i've seen so this is maybe the most intriguing matchup for me for the rams in seattle. They know each other very well. the rams are having to play with the backup quarterback you would think this would be a seattle all the way with russell wilson at home. Even though there's not going to be the home crowd and tampa washington washington's a great story in the way they've gotten here i think tampa matches up very well with washington. Defense is very very good. But alex smith quarterback and the defense against tampa bay. They're not a particular vertical team or tampa bay with that group of godwin and evans. If he doesn't play you now get Antonio brown i think tampa matches up very well with the redskins. Let's talk about the sunday games. That's the ravens who are number five seed against the number four seed the titans and then you've got the bears against the saints. The saints are a number two seeds and the browns which are still having lots of problems with kovin in their organization. Going up against the number. Three seed the steelers. What do you think your interesting. Particularly with. The browns with kevin stefanski the head coach a couple of other coaches and some and some players. You know this is what the league was worried about. They were able to negotiate that during the course of the season by postal book postponing. Some games moving some things. We can't do that with the playoffs So the the browns interesting challenge to go in without their head coach involved during the week. and crafting the game plan but to not have that presence on the sideline for the biggest thing is for baker. Mayfield did not have that voice in his head. Now that that's going to change in terms of the play calling This is a lot for cleveland and pittsburgh they've arrested ben rothlisberger They should hold on pretty well at home. A chicago new orleans new orleans may be the best team in the nfc. Their complete drew brees seems to have gotten back into rhythm. After having been on the sideline Again are complete team chicago loss to good green bay team But still made the playoffs. They they Interesting story mitchell trubisky. Lots going to fall on his shoulders. It'd be laugher him to keep up and keep pace with drew. Brees a new orleans saints and baltimore tennessee. I think baltimore's the best team in the nfl. Right now top to bottom offense defense. You throw in the special teams with sam cooke and just tucker No one has as complete a package as baltimore right now with no disrespect Disrespect it to kansas city. But i think baltimore's moore's complete team the one team that can really challenge them. Would be the tennessee titans with derrick henry as they did the last two times they played them beat them in the playoffs last year surprisingly and initiate beat them as well. Why because henry ran the ball and one hundred thirty three yards rushing this year. Almost two hundred yards on them last year. What does that do it. Controls the clock time of possession doesn't allow that offense cranked up but i think baltimore's playing at such a high level right now. They've overcome the adversity that they didn't have to last year the kind of cruise into the playoffs and maybe a little overconfident. This is a battle tested team.

"All right. But anyway, okay. Well me being I think it's one of those situations where they have their franchise quarterback, but I don't necessarily think that Anthony think Anthony when is a fit for that particular quarterback some kind of just goes to show how important. Yep. The quarterbacks are on a team absolutely important. It is to match the head coach with the quarterback. The system has to all work every piece of that machine has to work so I don't really think it's so much Anthony Lynn not being a good head coach. I think it's and this is just my opinion. All these coaches just do the whole care. He'll go to the Jets. Who knows. Yep. I mean listen you right here on the first intense Amy broke that if that happened maybe huge Dona Dona. All right, Jacksonville fire their head coach Doug Marrone. I know nothing about this guy off and I really just don't care of ya number. Exactly. "Church fired Anthony Lynn. I really like Anthony. When did you know that he's from McKinney Texas know he got out here the quickest he could he's from McKinney. He went really sylvain high school and then he went to Tech. Yeah guns up really liking Anthony land. And what sucks is, you know, Justin Herbert's they're going off to you and you some Justin Herbert. Well, I did when before he cut his hair and then he cut his hair and I'm out. Oh lucky. We're not talking. Okay all that to say he's still a very talented quarterback. And I think it's one of those situations where spiders are he's in spite Amy for that very Sage astute Sports analysis, you know what players are all-encompassing in their talents. There's there's certain things that come with the talent and sometimes the chair and if you lose the hair then you know what they say take that yes p.m. If the hair out with the talent All right. "In Indianapolis Lucas Oil Stadium, and we've got two minutes to go in the first half over sensibly alongside Brian Baldinger on the run thrust of our compass media team All Colts they leave the Jaguars by a score of 22 nothing. Jacksonville trying amount of driver's gonna be second in less than a yard to go when play resumes at the Indianapolis 49 yard line storylines coming into Jags. We already know they got the number one pick in the draft. Will Doug Marone be fired? Tomorrow. People think that will be the case they had coach GM Dave Caldwell already let go earlier this season. Lots of changes for Jacksonville Colts. They want to make the playoffs and that means winning this football game today. If they win, they're in and right now, leading 22 nothing. Here is Glennon out of the gun as they left the right second a couple over the middle wide open, and that's why I receive her Keelan Cole. Leads the team of five touchdown catches this year. That's a catch for a first down to the colt 41. Yeah, I mean, it was my touchdown, says he had the game winner against the Colts back in week one, and that was the only win for Jackson. 14 15 consecutive losses one and going with tempo near sideline toss. And that is Terry Godwin, who makes the catch and he has tackled the 36 yard lines. So that's five yards. Methodically moving down to you especially looked all day. Yeah, hurry up Tempo offense has receivers have been getting three guns had some time to throw. Here's another one. Over the middle of that one, is caught by Godwin and tackled at the 30 yard line. Game of six. Another first down, So will the 20. Nothing. Indianapolis lead Jacksonville. Trying to make something happen here in the final minute of the first half of play. All right now, one minute to go clock ticks down. Works out of the gun opened the wall. He's gonna go out on a route over the middle of the throw of the 10. And caught again by Godwin and a great catch. He got hammered as he caught that football but tackled the nine yard line. Tell me First down Gold. Jacksonville Terry Godwin has showed up. You get the opportunity because of the Internet DJ shark and his Taken advantage of Glenn and finding a rhythm on this drive as well back to throw fires over the middle school and its car God when again touched down Jaguars Terry God went out of Georgia activated for this game. And guess what? Touchdown past nine yards and the Jaguars have a pulse. Well, that's kind of how the Colts plate pass defense last week where the Pittsburgh Steelers came from 24 7 down. When that game 28 24 was just a quick slant. Mike Glennon just a note and he gets into the end zone made it look pretty easy. Here's the extra point. Try and it is up bad is good. Don't get rose sauce. With the extra points. We've got 27 seconds to go in the half on its Indianapolis 20, Jacksonville seven. The fact of the game is sponsored by Del Del Technologies. Advisers Listen to your small business needs so they can provide you with tailored solutions powered by the Intel V Pro platform called today. We will try to have time. Be my guest. But don't take the gluten free stuff. I had the box here before the game that you don't want to talk about. That stuff is overrated. Though free, free was crumbling in my hand when I tried to get the sandwich tell me gluten free pancakes built. What's the point? Just give me regular buttermilk pancakes. What? It was syrup and give you some blueberries in there. Alright, Jacksonville will kick off colts and 27 seconds. There's the boot from left to right. No return touchback fall out to the 25 yard line. We'll see if they try anything here. They will get the football to start quarter number three Will Indianapolis. Yeah, There is a lot of speculation. Obviously, that Jacksonville is going to make a change. I know Doug Morrone three years ago. Jacksonville was in the NFC championship game up 22 10 against the Patriots in the fourth quarter, and they let that slip away and this thing is crumbled since Whoever takes this job, they're going to get the first pick, perhaps a quarterback to kind of rebuild with Got some players that they got a good offensive line veteran offensive line all of more Still pretty young. You got some talented receivers and some pieces on defense. It's It's not insect. The worst situation Taylor on the hand off up the middle. He goes 30 35 Yard line makes his way to the 38 pick up 13 1st Charge time out. Indianapolis 30 seconds, So I was just about to mention they had all three time outs to use. Here's They start this drive 27 seconds to go. The run took five seconds off the clock. So now two time outs and the 39 yard by that's again of 14 yards When Philip Rivers was making his decision after you know the charges decided not to re sign him. His big selling point. When Frank Wright came calling was the offensive line of Indianapolis is only 19 times. All your bill. They protected him very, very well. And those last couple of years with the charges he was not protected like that, so One of the reason why he came was the offensive line. And I think same thinking at Jacksonville next year and five of those sacks came last week against the Steelers. Alright Rivers ready to rock and roll here, He's gonna put it up dumps off the Heinz near left flat blockers in front hides to the 40 45 still going 50 yard line using up some clock, and now they're going to stop the clock again. With 14 seconds to go in the half in another nice game, just a little dump off, and Hinds did the rest. Taking it to the Jacksonville 47 yard line. Philip Rivers.

Cam Newton has likely played his last game for Panthers

"Today. We Distorting Carolina the panthers to Place Cam Newton on I r that effectively ends his season. Gm Marty Harney said today. The doctors agreed that Newton should continue to pass the scribes and by the team's medical staff and that likely will take significant time for his injury to fully heal in quarterback news elsewhere. The jags are going going back to nick. foles over rookie sensation Gardner. Men's shoe coach. Doug marrone made that announcement today saying polls is ready to return from a broken collarbone and we'll start next week against the Colts Jacksonville currently on a bi week that I think relatively expected given nick foles is finally healthy. I'm not sure that we thought. Cam Cam Newton would miss the entirety of the season. Although at some point you began to speculate obviously early on in this injury Cam. Newton said himself he wanted to be one hundred percent before he returned to playing football. And when you have cal plane the way he is just Carolina Panthers Teen actually excelling in his absence now. He can focus on being completely healthy when he gets back. But I know you always want to play as a player so if you can keep a guy like Cam Newton a competitor like that. It has to be serious injury and for his his future for his career. We're you hope he comes back as healthy as possible that you say use career as you were talking I was just thinking. Is His future going to be Carolina. You have to wonder now because we were having these conversations over the last few weeks. Yes it's CAM new team. This organization is behind Kyle Allen and obviously seem very comfortable with him being the starter have they given up. Hope that it cam is the answer. That Cam is the future there now especially now that he's GonNa miss the rest of the season this is about. I don't think it's about hope. I think it becomes about how L. is going to be a cheaper player. He's a player that but you can build around with money. And he's also one games in. This is the new. GOP This isn't the guy that drafted Cam Newton and we'll have an emotional title and let's be clear it's Thailand new GM. It's a new owner David in his second year of ownership. I think everything. And everyone is being evaluated Ron Rivera Kyle. Allen is the best to lead the seem to winds ends. That's what you'll see. You have a new owner right. WHO's GONNA eventually want his own guys in there all the way down general manager head coach all the way down quarterback? I think they're going to move in a direction. If they don't just start ripping off winds here I think they'll move in a big direction. Now the one thing about Cam to understand this liz frank injury okay. So that means there's a separation of the bones foot so it wasn't healing otherwise he would come back so he'll he'll he'll but he has to probably get screws put in there in order to really really locked down and then he and then people come back from those injuries. You have to wonder if Camden played his final game for the Carolina Panthers Time. We'll tell them that front. It certainly been his final game this

Jalen Ramsey's troubled Jaguars tenure ends with blockbuster trade to Rams

"Terms of Jalen Ramsey will talk about this he finally got what he wanted the end result the disgruntled corner headed to the Los Angeles Rams the Jaguars finally relented and Ramsey to the west coast for first round draft picks two of the one in twenty twenty one in two thousand twenty one also a fourth rounder in the two thousand twenty one draft here's a statement for Jaguars executive VP. Tom Coughlin given the situation with Jalen we made this decision based on what we thought is in the best interest of the Jacksonville Jaguars for this season and well into the future we feel the trade that we struck with the rams gives us great value for the next two drafts and remain confident that our team today will compete this season for a division title Jalen Wasser Productive Flair but the time came to move on and we wish him and his family the best in Los A- Angela here's head coach Doug marrone obviously I had a good relationship with him and we were working together to get them healthy on the field and that that's what my focus was so he can get on the field and help us you know win football games and now you know how concentrating on on the players gotta here and and getting our guys focused on on on Cincinnati I think in his league nothing ever really surprises me anymore you know especially from the business side of things I found out like everybody else did last night you know lately point Dave came in and told me Rams reporter Lindsey theory joins us from L. A. and Lindsey listen there's been a lot of coming and going and all Ryder roster changes what's the general reaction to all of the news from the rams this week Wendy for a team that's three and three and in the mid of a three game losing streak certainly renewed buzz and energy at the team facility this morning now I am told the Jalen Ramsey is in route to Los Angeles and he's expected here later this afternoon or the rams do expect that he will pass his physical and I am told that he could be on the field for them as soon as Sunday against the Falcons now this would be viewed as a move where the rams are going all in once again to try to make a repeat super bowl run but I am told the Rams really believe that this is a move for their long-term future keep to leave and Marcus Peters or playing the season on expiring contracts Ramsey has another season left and the rams do intend to sign him to a long term engine now as you mentioned he's not the only new face here at the facility today Kenny Young Austin Corbett also were here they have passed their physicals though remains to be seen if they will be at practice later this afternoon and one more note Wendy Safety John Johnson is headed to injured reserve because of shoulder injury. Lindsey thank you it was a rare blockbuster trade a few weeks now before the trading deadline Ramsey joined a small handful of veteran players traded for multiple first round picks in the last third two years or so Khalil Mack and Jay Cutler garnered big offers from the bears the dolphins move two first rounders for Ricky Williams and it too big halls to get Herschel Walker an Eric Dickerson listen we can go back to the jags but since June Ramsey is moving onto the rams let's start with what he means for the La Rams Right now we'll Wade Phillips now gets a play defense the way he wants to Wakefield's really wants to play in your face on the line of scrimmage with the defensive line pressure and then in your face on the live with men cover corners. He hasn't been able to do that to be honest with you with Marcus Peters Marcus Peters is not not played good man to man coverage needs a better zone corner so now wade having Jalen gets the opportunity to get back to Colin defense the way he wants to do it I'll be really interested to see if they use Jalen the way we want I bill belichick thrill reverse where you put him on the team's best number two receiver and then everybody else gets to get double teams opposing for the opposing offense but it makes their defense significantly best Champ Bailey the dion sanders I mean the great quarters you can do that lock him up and then roll the other side I think you'll see that the other thing that was curious for me was that Tom Coughlin mentioned that Jaguars were better this year and going forward I think maybe either that was miss written or because they're not speak they're not better by getting a great player out of there so I miss quotes tim so expe- Joe Joe Listen you were you were spot on Jalen Ramsey never changed his stance which is what you asserted from the get-go and I would assume just finally came to a point where it just made no sense to have him on a roster when he wasn't going to win this transaction happened yesterday the first thing came to my mind is how often the people I was always talking to that this was going to work out for Jalen Ramsey like there was no fretting I didn't hear any fear and now that this is resolved itself in the way that it has it kind of plays into the tone that I've been hearing all along now I was talking to a source obviously familiar with Jalen Ramsey. They said that he's excited considering this a fresh start to be with the rams I think one of the questions that I had in talking to ram source last night was why not hold onto Marcus Peters to have opposite Jalen Ramsey in terms of making this movie now one thing that the ram source said to me is that it looked like it was clear that less need did not want to pay marcus. Peters beyond this year he's eligible unrestrained the free agency next year and it was better just to rip off quote unquote the band-aid now so then it becomes well who is opposite Jalen Ramsey for this game against the Atlanta Falcons they mentioned that two thousand seventeen when cal Roby Coleman I came to the teen that he did fill in for a keep to Leon outside first and second down and then on Nichols would have him excuse me on third down having a nickel or sometimes have troy hill on the outside and then have an RC in the middle so expect something like that or combination of that against the Falcons either way Julio Jones saw the rams problems in the short turn no because the opposite of the ball is atrocious right now and that's been there issue as far as being a front now what I will say is it does play into them getting better though like we can focus on golfing what this offense has been doing but with the guy like Jalen Ramsey not only does he hell Aaron Donald give him a maybe a half a second more to get to the quarterback he also may be able to steal a possession to for you and this ninety four was out there so air down gets another piece on the back end that can help him hold off quarterbacks for a second for him to get there and that's that's really all I can think about so maybe you

Jalen Ramsey isn't backing down off trade request

"The Jalen Ramsey. AMC Trade Watch continues yesterday jags head coach Doug Marrone said Ramsey will play in tonight's game against the titans. The road was also asked about his relationship Cintas all pro corner. I've always had a good open relationship where we always been able to thought we sat down yesterday. We talked about what's going on as far as he. I don't like anything else in this profession behind us now his focus is on plan. You know my job being able to do the best job for the team right now. Well see now start with you I. I don't know how far we are past it but anyway. There's a game tonight and that certainly matters for both these teams. What's the latest with regards to Jones. Future will literally just talking to people around this situation within the last ten minutes and we all know that Jalen Ramsey is a hot topic because everyone's trying to figure out where he wants to go specially when he's demanding a trade and once out of Jacksonville so literally within the last five minutes I just tweeted that he is fine with playing tonight but does not anticipate -ticipant that he will be a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars by next Sunday because obviously he cannot play two games in the week per. NFL rules my understanding in terms of the teams that have made substantive inquiries for Jalen Ramsey include Baltimore include the cheese Eagles include Minnesota Seattle and Oakland but also that at least every team in the NFL outside of obviously Jacksonville have at least placed the call. There's not a team that wouldn't want somebody who's probably considered a top ten player in this league in a top corner corner in this league when you look at two of the teams that I mentioned within that tops six the chiefs and the eagles those teams that have allowed the most passing yards within the last two years since two thousand eighteen and certainly could be a final peace when you're talking about going to the postseason and doing beyond anchoring that secondary so there's been some discussion about this you know we're two games in confrontations as you both know perhaps get overblown but in fact happened on every side line probably every week or we are we. Are they moving on too quickly as everybody overreacting or is this a situation that simply has no other resolution think it's up to Jalen Ramsey. I think he's made a decision and his mind what what he wants to do and how he wants to move forward with his career and I think he's you know we know Jalen. Ramsey stands by his word right he when he says something about how he feels about whether it's about his play whether it's about another player whether the whether it's about his own respective situation you've taken for his word and you take it as the truth and I do believe that he'll be on a different team. Come next week in this whole situation isn't resolved with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Doug marrone and that he'll be and he'll have to figure it out elsewhere interesting words that he's been resolved because I think we can probably all agree that no in fact it hasn't especially if if if trade is the ultimate resolution and then it's not over yet. It's hard for me. I mean when I'm listening to this. I just want to say what what what's going on. It's two weeks into the season and I know you've been in situation. I know I have when you're playing football. There's always it was going to be heated exchange with a coach because they expect you to do one thing and and you're playing and you're doing your best and you're trying to do exactly what they want you to do but guess what you don't put your hands. Manzana coach you don't instantly say I want to be traded because it sends a message to everybody else in the locker room. That's aligning next to you that you don't want to be there so it'd be hard for me to go play tonight with a guy that says look yeah will play tonight but I won't be here next week and look when you get straight and it's not easy for you to go to a new place. Learn of defense live in in an apartment for months and just say yeah. I'M GONNA I'M GONNA come in here and I'm just going to be a key piece to you. If you're a winning team and you can go somewhere else to lose to no one's going to say he's going to go to a team and they're going to win so for me. It's hard to digest the whole process of look. Everyone has a platform. Now you have cell phones. You can say I want to be traded instantly and you know who's running the Jaguars up at the top. You know who's running that right now. I'm very well and he's old school coughlin. He's not going to say okay. I'll put up with this. He'd be happy right now. He later jalen would definitely one hundred percent selfish. She could not play tonight at all and just be protecting his self interest by protecting his body so that's not you know clearly the case if he's going to play tonight or do like the fact that he is playing shows that even though there may be some differences within the organization. He's still there for his team would agree with that. We're willing to play play. You know anything could happen in terms of getting at least we could certainly see a scratch as we get close to game

Jalen Ramsey's agent requested a trade after sideline clash

"Jalen Ramsey who is to me extraordinarily annoying jalen Ramsey has requested a trade aid from the Jaguars over the fact that he got into it with his head coach Doug marrone because he didn't like the idea as I did did like the idea of Jacksonville going for the win on the road and doing the two point conversion. What Dean is this brand new. What do you make yeah. I wouldn't couch this this this situation and potential accidents in those terms. I mean this. This goes back to last year. Ramsey was disciplined by the team early early in training camp for some stuff that was going on between him and some some teammates and some comments that he then put on his Social Media you know he's one of these guys who who has lost it and let his emotions get the better of them time and again on the sidelines and that runs counter to what Tom Coughlin stands dance for although I would say that it's pretty much been hallmark of these jags teams under Doug marrone. You know the the the lack of discipline when the selfish play the the guys putting themselves before the team with some of the silly penalties and and antics you know we saw it again even in week. One with miles jackets ejected from the game refuses to get off the field. I mean that's been far too prevalent so it's been brewing between him and marrone and really the whole Organization for over a year and he didn't get paid after year three even though he would make the claim he's the best corner and football ethic. He thinks he's better than half the quarterbacks in the League to if you go back to g q article a year ago so this is not like a new development I had to. NFL personnel guys reach out to me last week and both say you know I guarantee you. Jalen. Ramsey is traded before the deadline and that was before this sideline blow up if you're not gonNA pay him and he's planning on already not looking at potential holdouts next year and if he's as much of a malcontent and you could get a lot for him and Nick foles out. I know you don't want to admit that you're rebuilding but you should have already started to rebuild and now you know foles hurt and it's going to be tough sledding and you may need a road to getting a young quarterback. It might be time to stock up on draft graphics. This is a guy you can get a lot for. There's a market for him right. There is a much the the attitude and some of the antics give others pause as well and it may it may end up limiting this this market somewhat and maybe they don't get you know every penny they should get in terms of draft capital and or players like he's a better player than Laremy Tunsil but they're not gonna get you know to ones in the two to go bill. O'Brien O'Brien only has a limited amount of draft picks he can't he can't trade you know every draft pick for the rest of that organization's history so I don. I don't know I think I didn't think a one plus something else for him for Randy. I do really awesome

Jaguars' Tom Coughlin may have violated NFL offseason rules with one simple statement

"Tom Coughlin. The Jaguars executive vice president said Thursday that players absent from the beginning of phase one of offseason workouts, quote were close to one hundred percent attendance. And quite frankly, all of our players should be here. I mean, he's still doing this stuff. The old military, man. Tom coughing west, you know, with the with the collective bargaining agreement coming up. Are we gonna do away with farce of voluntary? If you have guys going on record saying, I'd I expect you hear suck only involuntary I agree with that in principle in theory. But the one exception I would make is Jalen Ramsey and Leonard fournette for the Jacksonville Jaguars. They had so many issues last year with commitment with the clubhouse with teamwork with chemistry and Jalen Ramsey. I don't know what he's doing with his career. But I don't know what's going on with great football for the most part not last year played. Well, I mean, he was an all pro defensive player of the year type candidate the year before last year. He was average. Well, there's no question that Leonard fournette deserves to be in that spotlight. I just find that. There's no other team. I can really think of around the NFL where there is a non coach non GM consistently issuing these demand. Here is I mean like he is. He is what Mike Tannenbaum was in Miami. Or the more more with like a microphone, but he's in charge. Everyone knows. I would say then I would say eliminate the ruse and remove this GM in waiting or be the coach the same in what way remove him from the organization false achie- and like either like, Jim he's he want. He's in a role. You're the one to be all these other. Come on Coughlin. Getting your lean. He's definitely isn't buying into sort of the Bella check or parcels idea that there's one voice in the organization because coffin wants to be one of the void is don't. For your coach. Then obviously the coach out to answer for two. It's like are you on the same page? Doug Marrone, say that is Coughlan Merlin's, boss yell. Yeah. Sure. But he can say whatever it just it feels messy to me. But maybe it's just like conditioning at this point just lifting weights. Aken I feel like it's not that big of a deal because they can work out with their own personal trainers. And then if they show up out of shape than yeah. That's a problem which which with for not has been right, but yeah. Coughlin's gonna gonna not gonna coffee they're gonna

"The Jaguars looked like an up and comer as recently as the first of all Tober. But now as being reported the Jags done with Blake Bortles, and it was impossible to not notice several Jaguars, including king knucklehead. Jalen ramsey. Yep. Dancing. Simple mindedly well being humiliated Tony fell for Jacksonville nonsense after they beat the patriots since September. But if foreign nine and Bortles on the way out Frank what's the Jaguars future? Now doesn't look great. And I bought in his well, if you go back to last season that road when they had a Pittsburgh so close to making the Super Bowl and Boorda's will be gone in Rapoport is reporting that but to me this about their defense and they walk around like they're the eighty five bears. Get that play less to me. That was her entire season. Derrick Henry former Heisman Trophy when you know, two nights before the Heisman is going to be given out. He was doing the Heisman. Pose all the way down view on their embarrassing, Frank. I'm totally with you. I mean, it was like it was something personal. He was literally running for his life and just shoving guy to the ground who want to be embarrassed. And then continue on with the game. They're mugging four camera. Once again once again the Jaguars play more stupidly than any team in the league. And yet they strut. It's unbelievable. But think about this for second Frank. They will have made first round quarterbacks elections is eleven and I think fourteen so or fifteen so they I mean, they have just wasted this. They're starting all over Tom Coughlin's on the hook for some of this stuff. That's happened on his watch more recently the last couple of years Frank they ought to be embarrassed. And I don't think there's smart enough to be. I'm talking about the players now, and you know what Tom Coughlin Doug Marrone. They got a lot of credit last year getting very close to make you. Yeah. They gotta take a bit of a hit. You know, you mentioned Blake Bortles think about this. My he has seventy five interceptions since two thousand fourteen Aaron Rodgers has seventy nine in fourteen years in the NFL portal's got them a win on the road in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, they need to upgrade at that position. They did starting with Jalen Ramsey. Who is a very good player, but way too much talking not performing and certainly not enough tackling yesterday out get him out Bortles and Gabbard ban. Elections defense overrated get them all out not the eighty five bears.

Buffalo, Buffalo Bills And Jacksonville discussed on First and Last

"All of it boiled over into a moment where Leonard fournette and. I aim Lawson the Diene for the Buffalo Bills spilled over into a fight on the sideline the end. It was some punches on the field that got both players Jekyll, and that was one of those ugly moments where you thought man are we gonna full mouse in the palace this thing because everybody was involved in that it was Leonard fournette and shack Lawson and both of them were checked. And then the funny thing happened where letter for net going towards the locker room almost had like entourage around him. He had a couple of big dudes walk in with him over kind of escorting them there because they knew shack loss and company would be getting there at the same time. And shack was not done having that argument and all we thought. Spilling into that tunnels. We saw them John. And God bless those cameramen doing the Lord's work getting knee-deep into the tunnel. As we saw that fight spill over there. If we thought how ugly this might get and didn't, but it is every indication of how ugly this Jacksonville season has gotten right now buffalo. Yeah. Buffalo's a playoff was a playoff team last year inexplicably. They found a way we had that last minute play from Andy Dalton and the Bengals that helped lift buffalo into the playoff. All the buffalo wings got sent to him the donations all that great stuff. But that was much more of a fringe playoff team. And they were one that was going to be in transition with worke quarterback. And so this year you've seen the come up from that team. A team that's been able to rally around defense that is over performed for Jacksonville. This season has been a disaster. And so you see that moment for them. And you look at buffalo, and I say fight, I say all these things about buffalo that you can spin it as a positive and endearing sort of thing. And obviously this moment isn't all that endearing to anyone. But on the other side for Jacksonville. This just seems to be the death rattle that this team is in right now as they continue to lose games as now the defense is falling victim to what happens when you've got a team that so imbalance that can't count on its offense to bail it out ever that even a defense that we know has good parts that we've seen perform well that its top level got you to an AFC championship. Now seems to be falling apart and seems to be pulling apart at the seams. When you see that situation, I know Leonard for nets offense a player, but it's the death rattle of this entire machine. And you wonder now for Doug Marrone? What this looks like for him. Because when you fall this hard, nobody walks out of this thing blameless and for Tom Coughlin and this organization. What do you do address the quarterback position going forward? Because in the meantime, your players just be punched in the face.
