"Colts Seahawks wide receiver. Doug baldwin. Meantime, may not be able to play again because of the effects of multiple injuries, Adam Schefter reporting. There's a real chance that Baldwin has played his last down in the NFL. I think the Seattle Seahawks entered this draft knowing that basically Doug Baldwin at the age of thirty might not be able to play football. Again, this situation where they went to this draft a new. They had to find a wide receiver. Doug Baldwin is undergone surgery this off season for groin and shoulder injuries.
Russell Wilson won't win MVP, but to get in the playoffs, he outdueled the front-runner
"I'm Dave maker coach Pete Carroll gets a contract extension in Seattle it runs through twenty twenty one. And maybe quarterback. Russell wilson. We'll get more serious consideration for NFL MVP thirty four touchdown throws. Just six I n and brilliant and last night playoff wrenching win on his way out of town. Richard Sherman said the Seahawks have lost their way wide receiver. Doug, Baldwin says Sherman was right. We did lose our way for a minute. And I think that that was it was hard to hear the ugly truth about some things at times. But you know, sometimes the truth is also beautiful Baldwin caught seven ball for one twenty six on a score

"How they how that all matches up against seems like the saints and ram chiefs. In yet. Totally I want to get into the broader picture here in a second. But I want you to give me your ten second nerdiness thing we should have realized but the Seahawks on Sunday night. You you've heard about Doug Baldwin is that there's something we need to hone in on with the Seahawks. That were that the greater nonce York's Twitter world is missing. With just with Doug Baldwin coming back. You me don't know anything with the Seahawks. I dunno. See the thing that I think the thing that I think is really important is that Baldwin's finally starting to get a little bit healthy. And because he's been he's had both knees. Have been heard this year. His groin has been injured. He got a little bit banged up. It looks like a little bit tonight. But I mean, he changes the dynamic of their passing game 'cause lock it is a deep threat, and he's been really really really efficient catching de passes and doing all that. But Baldwin is kinda like that chains moving guy when he made that one handed catch that put him at the one yard line that essentially sealed the game tonight. He had an incredible touchdown earlier in the game. He's just so reliable and so good as a route runner that. I think that changes the sort of it just changes the Seahawks offense in general. I think it makes them way more dangerous for the playoffs. If he's healthy if he can get to ninety percent Baldwin rather than like, seventy five eighty what is which is what he's been for a lot of the year. Not playing for a lot of the two. I think that changes things, and I mean, there's obviously years of experience chemistry with Wilson in ball. When he's kind of the first guy that I think Wilson tends to look for. And so that could be a big big factor kinda. That's what the Seahawks are. That's how they're different I guess for most of the rest of the season is that like if Baldwin's getting healthier that could be huge. So let's talk about the broader playoff picture because there's a couple of developments that I think are going to be really important in two weeks in the playoffs star number one Stewart's not gonna make the playoffs and the saints of essentially clinched, the number one seat in back. They have they they they might rest their starters next week was was the last update I saw the chargers are barring an insane Oakland Raiders win week seventeen are going to have the five seat. They lost to the ravens. The ravens are essentially. And then beyond that you have the patriots who are going to be locked into the two seed barring a jets loss and Texans win. So of those..

"Twenty nine your completion. And Kansas City has no answer for the hawk receivers. In man-to-man coverage junk, bold, poli back. Oh, can you believe came back on the field? Doug Baldwin with a beautiful catch near the goal line. Set up the game icing one yard plunge from Chris Carson and the Seattle Seahawks. Beat the Kansas City Chiefs. Final score thirty eight thirty one from Seattle and the Seattle Seahawks are going back to the playoffs. They proved to nine and six with the wind, and they do it in impressive fashion. Chris Wesseling by beating the chiefs outscoring the chiefs more big plays than the chiefs the Seattle once again show that they are dangerous team in the NFC. Yeah. Eric Weddell said after the ravens victory Saturday night. I know for a fact that nobody wants to see us in the playoffs. You have to imagine that goes just as much for the NFC in the Seahawks. Two different styles of play and the Seahawks have a much better quarterback than the ravens do. So that to me they have to be even scarier. Well, they'll be on the road almost certain very good chance at will be in Dallas. But this game was a reminder how great wrestle not like we need a reminder. But just how great he can be and kudos to Brian shot and Heimer for. Again, not not playing to his type, which even Seahawks fans. This season have complained about about run run pass. How about throwing the ball deep with a rainmaker on second twelve with three minutes left in this game. That set up the Baldwin catch also was on a second down the Seahawks played to win. They did not play conservative at all. They knew the opponent. They were facing, and it was impressive offensive. If that rims. Chiefs game was the standard bearer of primetime explosiveness this game had just as many incredibly beautiful throws. Russell Wilson making something out of Dixon who we used to make fun of when he was labeled as a move tight end by the Panthers someone years ago he's making plays, but it's Doug Baldwin. It's Tyler Lockett, and I'll tell you once again Pete Carroll has my vote for coach of the year because what he's done with this team and what he's more of them into. They would go into Dallas. And they would knock Dallas out. They are now nine at six as I said, they started Owen to they lose Earl Thomas. To a season ending injury. They're written by everyone, including myself and thousands of others in the football guys. Stick. Greg. Greg was on the Seahawks bus to some degree was Greg many streak alive. Always correct. In this case, Greg. You you you were the one that believed in them though, gray on the one thing. I got I got he right before this season. But the Seahawks showed I think in this. I mean this game the kind of problems that have especially without KENDALL fuller because the pastor was getting to Wilson that they couldn't get him down. They can't tackle. I mean, you mentioned at Dickson that to me was a turning point. They had a third and fifteen play to Ed Dickson, you're missing Ed Dickson in the open field. You got, you know, new Cornerbacks coming in for them that are just flying by him. And some of these were just great plays by Baldwin, but they're Assadi tackling in the chiefs have a lot of short drives on offense and a lot of miss tackles on defense. It's a bad combo and Patrick Mahomes. The numbers look great as they always do with Mahomes. But in the first half you lesson plays on the field. I'm thinking specifically of a wide open. Travis Kelsey is this a different game. If he connects with that on that throw well by the score. Yes. It was. But in general Mahomes. Didn't heat up until the second half. And Russell Wilson was just the more consistent quarterback in this game. I think some chiefs fans are starting to doubt their own team. This team has some chinks in the armor that can't stop the run. Their secondary is horrendous. They're not protecting Mahomes as well as they did earlier in the year..

"And more concrete and more consistent that you'll be casing that for the rest of your life. And I think we've all heard the stories of guys who've retired or have gone away from the sport and had mental health issues, and you know. Some guys committed suicide and just a whole bunch of things that come with that it's because in my opinion, they don't know who they are outside of the sport when you recognized in your firms for who you are as a football player wants to football aspect is gone. And you don't get that affirmation yourself worth. And your yourself value starts to deteriorate. And fortunately for me. My wife is really focused on loving me unconditionally and showing me what unconditional love is. So regardless of what I do on the football field or how my day is gone and the sports world when I come home. She loves. Excuse me. She loves me the same regardless. And I thought that was a very profound thing for me at you know, years ago when I met her three years ago when I met her how important it was for me necessarily for me, and my growth and Mamata I didn't realize I did not realize that I was setting up Doug Baldwin to sing that sing love sonnets Seattle the tough Seattle receiver singing love sonnets to his lady on ESPN radio. I did not know we were going to be doing that today. You know, it's not there's not love sonnets. It's just the truth. It's honest blunt truth the reality of the situation. Stan what do you got for Doug Baldwin? Well, doug. I just I was glad to hear you talk about about ego. I as a coach had people ask me all the time. What's it like coaching these guys with big egos, and I always said to perform on that kind of level. You better have a big ego. So can you just talk a little bit about on the field? How important? That ego is for you in terms of going out and playing against other guys who are among the best athletes in the world. Yeah. The the simplest way I can describe it as that. When we go out on the field, you're competing against other alpha competitors other alpha males who've been through a number of experiences in their lives to that. Have propelled them to be where they are today, and in that moment, and in order to overcome them in order to battle them on on an elite level, you have to have the mindset that you better than them and every aspect whether athletically or just personally, you have to have that mindset. And of course, I can sound arrogant cocky, and whatever whatever other terms you wanna throw in there. But to your point I think it's necessary for the greats to have that mindset to to know that their opponent is lesser than them in that, you know, they're gonna find a way to overcome them. Now, there's a there's a an other side of that as well is that elite confidence and that leap belief in yourself knowing that even if your opponent is good, whatever they're good at you're still gonna find a way to overcome that. And I think those two go hand in hand the belief that you are that your pony. It is less than a new. But also that you are going to overcome whatever obstacles placing your way. And of course, you know, in a in a normal setting in a normal world scenario that is a very unhealthy way to look at things very unim- Pathak way to look at things. But as far as sports go, I think, you need that ego to to be successful. Did you find it or do you find it to be a challenge to separate from that mentality? When you step off the field. So that it doesn't go into arrogance. Absolutely. And I think that that's probably one of the greatest challenges for for all young athletes, when they come into professional sports is that you know, that feeling of of a rival, you know, you've made it, and then some of the the better ones that stick with the sport that are that are in it for a longer period of time they overcome that to another level of confidence. But to your point when you step off the field. Sometimes you can't flip that switch and we've seen that in. Countless stories countless examples of.

"In the sports center on ESPN radio all throughout the day was so much better. The way that you said almo- modern Louisville than you did last time despite heavy interest from his alma mater Louisville. Doug, Baldwin going to be with us in a moment. Stan Van Gundy in with us this Thursday because on Thursdays. We were told that there would be better basketball guests because on Wednesdays when it used to be on with us all the teams playing and we couldn't get basketball guests. And so here he is on Thursday. Normally we'd have Gregg Popovich or something what he's gotten on the hook is the wide receiver from the Seattle Seahawks. The ball with his what we've lured in here with all the celebrity and power and clouds that stand in Gandhi has over sports. So Doug, we always enjoy talking to Doug for a long time. We've been doing it for many years. I I remember I remember the first article that I read about you, Doug. And thank you for joining us. You were being introspective. This was you know, three or four years ago, you're being introspective about the idea of how lonely your pursuit is that you basically have to not have friends to be great at what you do because it takes so much work. And I found that. Fascinating. Is that still true? Or if you had to work on that. I will. Thank you for having me. Appreciate you. And of course, always enjoyed talking to you as well to answer your question. It has changed. I think that as I've gotten older and has matured and as I started to look at life differently. You know, getting married my priorities change and you start to realize what's really important in life. And you know to your to your point. I did I time when I when that article came out, I realized how how important ego was in this world, and how much you needed that ego and that pride in order to kind of be selfish and this world to ta- -ccomplish what you wanna accomplish. And that came at a sacrifice sacrifice for relationships sacrifice for depth of relationship sacrificed for introspective depths of yourself, knowing who you really are outside of the sport. And and really trying to find a affirmation in to love and ensure identity outside of the sport and through this process. Of getting married. You know, I've come to the realization of that and still working on it. But I'm definitely better than than. I was when I when you I read that article, oh, damn dug a woman showed you that. A woman showed you that you were a selfish maniac who could be a little less selfish woman. One of the many things they do know. But that's what happens. I read about lonely Doug Baldwin who looked cut up friends surgically and that was years ago because he needed to pursue football. And then ooh, wee falls on his face. This is true. Absolutely true. So explain it to us take us through it. So who were you before? And then who are you? Now, I I know that's a broad question. But like how how have you been changed by this? I mean, that's a multifaceted question and one that would take much longer than a short segment at discuss. But I will say the on the shorthand, you know, I think that probably the biggest change is that my affirmation, my density, and sports it's always been that since I can remember I've always gonna be the affirmation and utilize that as a tool as motivation to propel myself in football, and in sports, and once you get to certain point where you realize that that's fleeting, and it's really empty, and you'll be pursuing that for the rest of your life. If you don't if you don't find a foundation built on something more solid.

"What what what what do you and your colleagues or you and your teammates? Think of when you see other quarterbacks gets. Signed to don't have nearly the resume that he has or have been out almost as long as he has. And they get opportunities as second and third string quarterback in the NFL. Honestly, I don't need to pay too much attention to it. I think that for the most part my opinion is that this is a business. I understand why business decisions are being made in. That's not to say that these are businesses being made. It's just my personal opinion, my belief, it's not surprised by and, you know, again, going back to what I said earlier, I think what topic is doing this way more than than the business side of the NFL. So I support him in that regard. All right Doug, Baldwin. I always love our chats mad at Doug Baldwin junior on Twitter. What is thanksgiving? Look like for you thanksgiving looks like my wife is going to be cooking for it to my best friend. They were gonna have some see was over they'll have places to go during the holidays during this time. So they're gonna come over with a family feast together. Okay. So it's not everybody getting together. The Griffin's house came in in Chicago. No, no, not at all. They don't know. What do you mean? They don't. So what we're not gonna go to house. Yeah. That's what I gotta be honest with you. It's kind of silly to bachelor's. I mean, they they probably they probably they probably you know, outta outta cans no-one no-one. The bachelor probably and they're still young. They have they haven't explored what it is to actually have thanksgiving and have people over things getting on their own, you know, hosting. So we will not be doing that. Okay. Hey, Doug, really appreciate everything is always like, I said, you're you're one of my favorite guys to talk to because it's more than just about football. And then there's a huge football game this weekend. I mean at Carolina this is it because they as is. I'm sure of folks might remember. And I don't mean to bring up any bad memories. They had a big win in your house in their run to a Super Bowl one year. And I'm sure you'd like to do the same that right back at them. Absolutely. Doug, take care yourself. I will have me rich. Always Doug ball one of the Seattle Seahawks here on the rich Eisen show. I do love talking to really really do. You think he'd run for office one day this him, right? Yeah. I do. I think he's a guy. You can just tell on the way he speaks what he speaks about. He just there's so much more than football to him. And what he cares about what he's passionate about. And I just think he's destined for bigger. And better. I mean, it sound like he was ready to call me fake news. When I was saying, you know, because he's talking about the kids in the locker room or a lot about social media. And I'm like, that's you know, when you say that that's what they're all about old on a second. I was in artful and bringing that direct TV now, you can live stream the rich Eisen show..

"Joining us on the phone line as promised is a big game. I mean this huge game for thanksgiving weekend because the Seahawks are currently the succeed at five and five and they play the team directly in front of them the Carolina Panthers. Meaning they could be in the five seat by the end of this weekend. Which would obviously be huge Doug Baldwin the wide receiver and two time Pro Bowl wide receiver of the Seattle Seahawks at that back here on the show. How are you? Doug, come doing good, rich. Thanks. You bet. Did I set the stage appropriately for this game? Absolutely. So this is something that is openly discussed in the locker room. This is a team right in front of us. We need to beat this team. Because who knows what it would mean for tie-break down the line. I mean, we're not saying those many words, however, we know that you know, right now kind of plan playoff football. You know that we have to win the game that we have to will in order to get to the big dance. And so, you know, we're poaching them accordingly. So I won't say that we're, you know, making this must. Win. But we know how vital these games are down the stretch. So let's talk about this season. I mean for you personally, it starts with you being injured, and how are you feeling right about? Now, we twelve here. Doug. I'm getting better. It's it's a process, it's a never ending process. But I am feeling, but what do you mean by process, I love to walk walk a fan through what you go through to get ready for football week. Doug. I mean. I don't know if I can put it in the words for people to be tactic to it. You know to truly understand what it takes to to continuously play at a healthy level in this game. Both of my knees had MC L issues in both my knees stuggling to maintain the house, of course season because I've been gonna hurt the leading on the one. And then the other one gets go leaning on the Oakland. So kind of been in a purgatory state right now trying to get past this pain. And you know, we're getting it again, it's a very long process and then in terms of the team this season. It has been a wild journey to five hundred right now, which would six games to go. You've once upon a time in four and five before and made the playoffs. And now appears that your poison to do that to how does this season compared to any others in the past other than what I might have just pointed out the only thing that I can really canal. It to the is the schedule with the the win loss record. Like, you stated completely different completely different by different players in a different mentality. You know, we are just different altogether. And so I don't want to hear that to what we've had in the past. I will say that this team. I do believe is poised to continue a strong push in a strong run. We have the talent we have the mindset it's just it comes down to Judy consistently. I think we have the ability to do that. So we'll see what happens. So can you? Let's how is it different than? I mean is it just different because the legion of boom is completely gone. And and that leaves a void in the locker room that needs to be filled. Elsewhere on the field. I mean, what that because that would be the obvious one outside looking in as to what's different. Yeah. I would say it's a philosophical one. And maybe even a cultural societal one as well. You know, the young guys that are coming in now that just completely different than myself. In the guys who've been here, the older dies would just cut from a different fabrics. And that's not to be disrespectful to the young guys that here, you know, they just blew up in the age of social media where that's that's what they that's what they know for a lot of younger guys. We didn't have that it. So it was definitely a mental transition that you see in the lock world and not to say that it's been as bad that it's all bad. But there are some there's some subtle differences. You know, you. Group that we had when I was we were in our our prime in those years the goal runs. You had guys who were just..

"But the tooth matters, you're dealing with individuals on on every level, you're doing with human beings who are different on every level in and you have to approach it as such you know, I do a lot in in terms of my passion is social Justice right now. And I know it's a big word and assist. It's thrown out there all the time. But really what it comes down to me. When we started tacking social issue issue problem or problems in social issues. It's more that you have to tack these issues from an impasse ick place. You have to look at the individuals. You have to look at human beings, you have to humanize issues. I think the same thing for startups for teams for organising anybody when you when you look. At a collective group of people you have to humanize the problems or the solutions you're trying to bring about but I will say this. I in you know, this may seem weird coming from thirty year old thinking that he may know it all but I will say this. There is an unconscious conspiracy in every organization, I believe, and my personal opinion. There's an unconscious conspiracy to keep the status quo the status quo, and I believe that that is the number one factor that that prevents good people or good good organizations from becoming great or from excelling to the next plateau. Sometimes I believe you have to even if it's good you have to blow it up because if you wanna become great, you always changing, you always progressing, and you can't you can't progress. You can't change. If you stay stagnant. If you're too afraid to go out on a limb. And so, you know, take that for what you will. I think just human beings in general should never be afraid to risk because when you risk your growing. And and I don't wanna stay stagnant. You're starting to sign a little bit like a startup founder started CEO starting a family. Yeah. As we talk about family and kids that you might have and life after football in what does that look like for you know, social Justice as a passion for you and building a community center here in Renton thinking about this. What does that what does Doug Baldwin after the NFL Klay? Oh, hopefully. My number one, obviously is taking care of my family. Right. It's it's always gonna be my priority. That's that's what my values are said. On is my family. Absolutely think about it every day. What I want to put myself into after football's done, I think I'll take I'll probably take a year off do nothing disappear from from the public eye just to kind of recalibrate who. I am as a human being and really reassess my values as a man. And then we'll see what happens I really hope that I can get away from the the label in the logo of Doug Baldwin the football player and people can start looking at me Doug, Baldwin the human. Because ultimately, I think that you know, that's how you can really create change officiate change in the world people when people start looking at individuals as human being. So I'm hoping that that is this the direction that I go in afterwards after I'm doing football. Very good. So to that point. What role do athletes have to play as your thinking about these social issues, and I realize you want to sort of get beyond Doug Baldwin than hell player. But is there a chance to to use that platform in your post NFL career? And how how could you do that? I don't know yet. That's that's the that's the conundrum in because I want to get away from this this football persona. But also has presented me an opportunity in the platform to to do things that I want to do I will say that..

"AM fantasy football frenzy. Followed by NFL game day ESPN's NFL game day with. Fred Hubner and Steve mongo McMichael teased it second down and goal from the six slot. White ruffle takes the shotgun. Snap again. Shoulder baldwin. All right. So Doug Baldwin all preseason long. We heard about the knee injury that was lingering. And whether or not he was going to be anything more than eighty eighty five percent this year while I don't know if he was just playing possum during the preseason. Because all reports this week were good and positive. I know people the one thing you always have to do with a grain of salt is take the reports that you read in hereabouts and wait until you actually see it play out on the field. Now if Doug Baldwin proves that he's good old reliable Doug Baldwin. Then no worries. You might have yourself quite a bit of a value in terms of where you were able to steal him in your draft. But I will say against the Denver Broncos mile high stadium today, I would be a little bit reluctant to go ahead and start Doug Baldwin because the Broncos they edit Bradley Chubb, they now have those dynamic edge rushers that they had when they won the Super Bowl. Obviously Chubb in the plainly DeMarcus ware role while von Miller. Lying the von Miller role. Just like he didn't that Super Bowl year? So the Broncos presents a pretty stiff d for Seahawks today, and I would be a little reluctant to start Doug Baldwin today. I kind of want to see it out in the field. Make sure that he's completely one hundred percent before I go ahead and just lock him into my lineup. That said though, it kind of depends upon your option and Pat in lumbered has that dilemma, and so let's see what he's got Pat,

Their projected him to start week. One is all we had to go off of. Larry FitzGerald or Doug Baldwin at the end of the third round, Doug Baldwin. All right. Let's move up. Let's try this one tyreek hill or Doug Baldwin. When I go tyreek hill. Adam phelan. That's tough one. I think I think it was today. Yeah, I would go out THEO and it's because I think he's as sure thing as as it comes in terms of Annecy production, and they have Kirk cousins who I'm I couldn't be higher on a quarterback or player than I am on Kirk cousins this year. I think he's going to be a stud. So I'd go out feeling Kip. So I think I know you're spot and I think I'm in the exact same spot is you? It's we don't know anything about Doug Baldwin. So let's go ahead and give me the points with Adam the'll entire kill stuff on t. y. Hilton, Mike Evans. But because Baldwin's history and the fat of his upside, let's go ahead and take him over Larry FitzGerald. Amari Cooper and Jarvis Landry and vitriol is close. I mean, that's that's, you know, if you're me to question a week from now and his status is still murky at best. I might go its gelling. Those two are very close in general, but Doug Baldwin. This has a lot more. Decide which is why I would go with him. All right. I love it. I'm a next one. Here's an interesting, interesting. Stat set, you know me. I gotta pull out these weird. Interesting stats in this one is targeted air yards percentage. Do you have any idea what that is. I do not know. Okay. It's pretty simple. I don't think a lot of people necessarily look at this and I don't typically look at it a lot. But what it does is it gives you an idea of how often a certain player, mostly receiver is us or targeted in terms of the amount of yards for certain team. So obviously we see the lot happen where a lot of Sears go down around someone and then someone gets an inflated target percentage right. If it's Mike Evans a few years ago when he was over one hundred seventy, certain target numbers are just unsustainable, but what you wanna see is you wanna see this player, players who are might be still heavily utilized in the offense. The more committee or the more the ball gets pass around the the more harder is for there. There are certain players upside even if they're really, really good. So the the person with the highest targeted air yards percents described as distance in yards measured between the receiver. No, it is. I copied the wrong thing here. It is the amount of attempted yards to receiver compared to the team overall teams attempted yards k. so if a player was attempted one hundred yards and the overall team try to attempt two hundred yards and certain game than fifty percents of that total teams air yards went to only one player the highest for twenty seventeen was our boy AJ green at forty, six percent. Yep. And another player that continues to get overlooked because he's he's just been doing it for so long. And so many other players that have had really good seasons over the past two or three years that are kind of sexy or go back on Michael. Thomas Kia. Now my gammons AJ green is just as sure as they come and he is wanted in this, you know, no coincidence that he is one of our, our favorite been on our players for a while. Somebody who's going at the end of the second round. You can't go wrong with AJ green in most of these players at the very top are the elite of the elite right? AJ number one, Julio Jones number two, Danja Hopkins. Number three. Twenty Brown is one, two, three, four. Michael Thomas is up there. Interestingly enough, one, two, three, four, five, six..

I would guess that he would not. But he's going to be entering the season having already suffered this, this knee sprain. Whereas last year he was due for some positive regrets regression in the touchdown department and he crushed it. I think he's now probably due for some negative regression and I don't know the the fact that the Seahawks want to become more of a running team. I'm not sure they're going to be able to execute that, but that is another concern for Russell Wilson. So. I wound up, bumping him down and now drew Brees is on the on the flip side in terms of regression to the mean in touchdown rate. Because last year drew Brees touchdown rate was four point, three percent, which was one of the lowest of his career over the previous six years is touchdown rate was five point, eight percent. The saints just score a lot of touchdowns on the ground. Now they're not gonna have Mark Ingram for the first four games. Now they have a much tougher schedule now they have better weaponry. I think they can get more from Ben Watson than they did from Kobe's leaner. And I think that why no, that they can get more from Cameron Meredith than they did from brain in Coleman as their slot receiver last year. And Michael Thomas is also due for positive touchdown regression because he scored nine touchdowns as a rookie and he only scored five last year. I just think we're gonna see a lot more passing touchdowns from the Saint. So I'm standing by drew Brees. I don't buy into the rhetoric at all that he has shown significant signs of decline. I think that may be his arm is not as strong as it used to be. But I think that he's still just as effective of deep passer as he as he has ever been because of his accuracy. I mean last year he led the NFL yards. Tempt any set the set the NFL record for completion rate. Carson Wentz coming off to tore knee ligaments. I think he's bound for some negative regression. He, you know, the NFL leader in touchdown rate two thousand six, two dozen. Seventeen. I'm sorry, doesn't sixteen was Matt Ryan during Matt Ryan's NFL MVP year seven point, one percent. He crashes back to earth last year. Three point, eight percent. I've noticed of noted that just if Matt Ryan had thrown, if his touchdown rate would have just been in line with his career touchdown rate of four point, six percent, he would have thrown almost five more touchdown passes last year. I think it going to be tough for Carson Wentz to match his on rate, which with Evan point, five percent highest in the league among qualified passers last season and. I'm also concerned that he is not going to have his usual mobility early in the year. Dr. David child who does a great job on Twitter, you know of teaching, you know what teaching people about how injuries work and how injuries can affect players for he talked about how he doesn't expect Carson Wentz mobility to be the same until about midseason. So there are just enough concerns there for Carson Wentz to keep him in my second tier as opposed to having him into your one, which is where he scored last season and I have Jimmy Garoppolo in this year. I keep moving him up. Just incredible how well he did with the limited weaponry in the limited time in the offense went to in great deal in the went to in great detail in the on the Michael Bianco show. He finished last season. The forty Niners one five, no, Jimmy Garoppolo completed sixty seven point four percent of his passes at eight point eight yards per attempt. He is athlete. He can add some stats with his legs..

Seattle Seahawks sign WR Brandon Marshall to 1-year deal
"It's an excellent question i have no closer to the answer the promise you that brandon marshall job oh yeah the thirty four year old wide receivers signing with the seattle seahawks tom pella cerro nfl network reported tuesday marshall broke the news on his instagram account posting a photo of himself skipping down the street in a seahawks shirt and this is going to be the thirteenth year for the wide receiver who really had a loss season in new york last year of season before that that was what the giants for for that with the jets was also a down year so wes seahawks need weapons brandon marshall in two thousand eighteen a weapon only theoretically nothing he's done on the football field the last two years suggest that he's going to be starting cal caliber wide receiver fact the giants went oh five with him in the lineup last year he averaged under nine yards per reception and took it took until the third week of the season before you had more more than receptions and i know he's being talked about as a red zone replacement for jimmy graham he's got three touchdowns on twenty red zone targets over the last two years jimmy graham has fifteen touchdowns on forty something targets it's an uphill battle to make the team i think i mean to make any team if he was looking for a team that he could wind up being started this is it they've tyler lockett doug baldwin and very little else amara darbeau i think they'd love to step up a third on pick from last year but not a lot of guys but just looking at the contract for instance it's two million dollars with incentives the minimum for a veteran of his age is about a million do the math he's basically getting about the minimum with no guarantees and he'll have to go make the team and just based on all the surgeries ad and how he looked last year i'm not so sure he will gets the cherry on top of one of the most suspect nfl offseasons league wide by the seahawks wow so you don't see this going anywhere i mean it didn't go anywhere last.
