CNN Publishes Mother of All Kamala Harris Exposés
"So there's a couple stories that I want to try to put together here. But the first and the most interesting story quite honestly. And it's interesting in a way that you might think is the sudden and unexpected. Kind of shade war and stories that were coming out against cami. Against Kamala Harris. So late on Sunday evening on the front page of CNN were at least 6 or 7 different stories. 6 or 7 separate stories. That we're covering how The White House is at odds with one another. On the front page of CNN dot com last evening, here's where the headlines were this. Harris struggles with her relationship with Biden. Vice president's team tries the distance herself from fraught situation at the border. Harris looks to turn page as she zeros in on voting rights. White House goes into damage control after reports of dysfunction in Kamala Harris's office. 5 stories against Kamala Harris on the front page of CNN dot com. Exasperation and dysfunction inside Kamala Harris's frustrating start as vice president. Now, this is not Fox News dot com. This is not zero hedge dot com. Is that breitbart dot com? This is CNN dot com. That is reporting this. Worn out by what they see as entrenched dysfunction, and a lack of focus Key West west wing aides have largely thrown up their hands at vice president Kamala Harris. And her staff deciding there simply isn't time to deal with them right now. Especially at the moment, when president Joe Biden faces quickly multiplying legislative and political concerns. I continues by saying defenders and people who came for Harris are getting frantic. When they're annoyed, some pass around recent onion stories, mocking her lack of substantive work, one with the headline, quote, White House urges Kamala Harris, the Senate computer all day in case emails come through. When they're depressed, they bat down the Aaron Sorkin style rumor that Biden might try to replace her by nominating her to a Supreme Court vacancy. That chatter has already reached the top levels of Biden orbit, according to one person who's heard it. She is perceived according to CNN dot com to be in a weak position. That top Democrats in and outside of Washington have begun to speculate privately. Her job as number two is to be helpful and supportive to the president and to take work on he asks and who asks her to be intelligence briefing. This is a multi page hit piece. "Let's just pretend ding nothing. But that's not it you know it was. It was domestic described as domestic which is wide something you know the level of normalcy. He was not used to to the exit tantawi being uncomfortable to him and fair enough fair enough. He wasn't ready to be phased by the reality of all. This is how things should be and he just to komo moment for him to sort of digest it all and i don't blame me for him. I didn't think that he was big addict. It's just a shock to the system. Now i agree. I agree and i think it is credit to the writing. Because i didn't necessarily have a problem with greg but there was definitely shit that he needed to work out himself before even like considered being in a relationship with jeff. True but that. That's a very Interesting saying And i guess that also informs like every moment where we have harry's character jeff's dad reinforced. How fucking amazing he was but also like. I said it's not necessarily like. He was unblemished here. He had gone through shit and he also inflicted shit unknowingly knowingly to others and we see that later on in the film right so it's not necessarily his perfect dad he loves it embraces and goes to gay bars with his son all that is true but loves complex and there are so many different ways to it and he encapsulated what it means to love unconditionally in an imperfect world and i think that's where the foyer reference saying you know this is if if we had a bingo card is what we say all the time no one can fuck you up more than your parents and and the saying in couplets title of the movie the sum of us because we get to see the juxtaposition of attitudes and behaviors laid out so perfectly and beautifully and we see the difference not in day and i think it just it just shows us you know in the some of us because it's a generational thing to pass it all down we know what's will know inflict and we bring up all our baggage and just put it onto someone else and it just carries on it's not just quirky personality tracy pass down to your kid unless you gore of your way like jeff started to a stand to accept that hey i want to make a difference on into stand it i want to be part of this because at the end of the day i just wanted to be happy and who doesn't want that but it's also that double sided coin right because i kind of understand greg because i came over to like visit your parents and your parents were openly asking about sex. I wouldn't be comfortable with that so sometimes it's good to be raised in shame.

"Yeah yeah it's it's interesting to have them available but like you said you only start with one so like it it kind of force it or feels at least from reading the rules that would force pacing on the game that kind of like some kind of early blitz is tempting to knock out your opponents Vampires quickly while they have very few or possibly one. But that's a double sided court Sword if they're able to swing back at you 'cause you're also potentially in that same boat so maybe it it forces games to have a bit more of a progression. I don't know. I admit as far as now that i'm onto progression and thinking about income in thrones. I am a little worried that it looks like vampire may be May have some of the same with progression or lack thereof right like it magic or whatever you have this steadily increasing amount of resources available to you which means you're not playing. You're you're haymaker on turn one shoreham but you could in this game or at least you could come much closer to it than those type of games. Yeah maybe. I think i think i would have to play a couple of games to really have a good idea of how to respond to that like. I think a part of the other thing is is it seems or in vampire you you start with all of your income and their cars. Of course that will generate prestige. Which is it which is equivalent to gold. But you basically start with most of the prestige. You're going to have for the game. Yeah so i think that's also interesting. Wear like you can use. You can spend that all right away but also keeping in mind that one of the ways you lose is by running by becoming bankrupt. Yeah yeah so maybe that does help kinda pumps and breaks or at least it definitely causes some thought in the Late game yeah. Yeah it's i think..

"We've been talking about tacking up sheet run a couple of days and it's kind of what's going on in there. So it's like these canvas backdrops. I knew you would have a way of describing. Because you're a boater canvas when you see it. Yes so there's this canvas backdrop and they're trying to be hung up by double sided tape and they're all falling down there all except for the one behind them because which is actually a shade to shade. You can pull up and down right. So i would say that it's providence. Double sided tape situations not gonna end up working longer. Guerilla take maybe. Yeah so they don't have a kelly done. We gotta kelly done flex seal. Maybe able get them. Somebody does something. Kelly doesn't mess around. No she doesn't mean she comes in there and she says this war we're going to do it. She asked us about design things that we like and then you know she she does it does it professionally so the fake brick that we have here looks like real break. Its three dimensional. But if you knock on you can tell it's like styrofoam or something but it looks great. They actually have a sheet of brick sheet of brecqhou sheet of brick. The kansas canvas a canvas sheet of take a look at this one. i'm done. Yeah it's it's where you were sitting behind you all right sheet of brick you'd see at a high school player something Yeah i i would say though that in defense of what s and why is done over there. It'll look fine on tv when we're in there. Yes see it but as long as everything is tangled up there. okay. I think the backdrop looks fine. I mean the backdrop looks good. It's carmen roberts has got nice coloring for sure it will give them a comfy. Feel the wall always know that it's if it had as stymie it may fall down right in the middle of the show. That would be awesome. Three out of the four sheets have full it. yes already. There's one behind monocled mcconnell mechanical macgonagall goal. Yeah so there's there's a big Navy blue one. That goes behind them. Actually it looks pretty nice it does. It looks nice but it fell down so that was my question to did. They not put it up late them. No things up and they fall down. You could tell how they how they're laying. I wasn't sure either about that. But when you stick them up there boomer stock went up there and started slide a little bit so it's like in a crumpled heap one in the control room. So really all you have to do is tacked those things up just like or or out as house said you can staple them you. Could you could do that as well. Table them why not stable ganga staple gun..
Open source developer and Gitcoin creator Kevin Owocki discusses modern fundraising
"To jump right into it in the world, of Crypto, currency money is important depending on your view bitcoin itself is or aspires to be money in a very real way and without question, the craziest time Crypto have surrounded or even just been entirely about fundraising for projects. This has always been positive though in the later stages of the initial coin offering praise it seemed like raising money became the point rather than what it was being raised to accomplish in its aftermath. It's become increasingly obvious that what's being funded matters at least as much as how you get the funding but how you get the funding is important to. A couple of weeks ago Andrey's, and I were talking about an open source project. He'd actually used get coin to fund is, can you tell that story can here? Yeah absolutely. You know every now and then I come across an idea or find a gap in the court system where I think it would be really useful if we had a software gizmo to do X. Y. or Z. and even though I can code myself I don't have the time to embark on these little projects. So as I've done in the past I looks for way to funded developer to do this work and this time I decided to use bitcoin I've been Aware of it and looked at it in the past. But now I had a real project to sink my teeth in. So the projects was to develop a plug in or changing the wizard of the electron import in order to enable it to discover derivation paths, and I'm no monnet craze that has been used in a different wallet where the user doesn't know what the derivation path is and keeps having difficulty recovering funds. This is a problem, a lot of newbies have. And so I put up a he basically and a bounty is a pot of money in this case denominated in the stable coin die so that it's the equivalent value and I put up a one thousand dollar bounty for about forty to sixty hours of work approximately I estimated to develop this capability I wrote a specification as a get hub issue and the I thing. About Bitcoin is that it integrates directly into get hub. So I could take the issue where described the desired feature in detail and then attached the bounty directly to that, and then have developers come and pitch to take on that bounty and executed. It was completed a couple of weeks ago paid out and it's a feature that's being merged into hopefully the next version of Elektra. Now, that tool that you had created actually you and I had a little back and forth about it because turns out that you don't necessarily a Newbie to run into the problems that you were trying to solve their and we actually wound up using it to solve a big problem. I've been working on for a couple of months, but that's going to be another episode. Entirely, today we're talking with Kevin Kevin, can you just kind of take us through the basics of bitcoin was kind of the goal and how is it operating? Let's just start off with the most basic question for people who aren't familiar with the project. Is there a bitcoin or is this something that builds using as Andrea saying die or other types of Tokens as a reward? Yet, that's a great place to start. There is no bitcoin token bitcoin is a place where you can get coins. If you're a software developer in exchange for doing software development tasks, we have unfortunately from a branding perspective gotten swept up with a lot of the projects. Did do ICO's IOS in two thousand seventeen even though we never did in Seo. So. Take us back to the beginning kind of what was the thinking about this project in general what was the problem that you were trying to solve, and then how did you end up solving? So I've been working in web startups for the last thirteen years pretty much ever since I graduated from school and every software project that I've ever worked on has been an open source software projects. So whenever I start a new start up I will use python, which is an open source programming language. I will use an open source database server, I will use an open. Source Web server, and so every time I've built a start up all the stuff that you see in tech crunch are standing on the shoulders of giants of open source software and basically every time I've built a software startup I've been using open source software and open source software crates, billions of dollars of value for the world, but there's good way for software developers to monetize. The work that they do in open source software, and so that was sort of founding reason why I created Bitcoin, which is a double sided market connect software developers to the people want to fund their work in open source software in the sort of insight is that now using the blockchain space, we now have billions of dollars of capital that's going to open source software. Whereas before in the old financial system, all of the money that goes into it goes to some back office on wall. Street. So what if we could build a marketplace where the software developers they can sort of be the routing mechanism for the money going to software developers and have it the blockchain native project? That's what get coin is and that was the genesis of Bitcoin.

is that could be something fun for you to do it together on Sunday yeah I've already waited rallies around the Easter dinosaurs so yes keep going I'm sorry okay you know what if you could turn is going to close desyrel Easter velociraptor oh my gosh it's jail it's great it's fun for the kids it's something to do go right ahead go ahead please thank you also you can dye Easter eggs with shaving cream but my sister did this last year with my niece and you basically put a ton of shaving cream on a cookie sheet and then use some food coloring and you kinda like swirl it together with a straw or with a fork and create this like tie dye look you dip the egg in and kind of rolled around in the sheeting cream and put it to drive for like ten minutes you rinse it off and you have some dyed eggs okay it's crazy I don't know you could do that I find really cool end this kind of ties in with a different list you talked about recently where women actually like mad with more facial hair so don't worry about using up that shaving cream you know yeah because you got to have more facial hair right good point and then my last thing I have for Sunday is as some neighborhoods are doing this you can maybe do this with your family people are hiding these paper ache so either you like get something printed off the internet or you can create your own AG you know just some type of drawing or something and you stick it in your window or on your door and so the kids are taking a walk with their families or if they're in the car maybe driving somewhere they can go on a scavenger hunt or an Easter egg Easter egg hunt looking yeah looking for these eggs right will have created and put up in there it does something a little different a little fun to do obviously you know it's gonna be very tough for the Easter bunny is a lot of like stuff going on out there so the easy money it might be a little bit harder this year to get where he's going I think kids understand that so it's our job this year it's going to help the Easter bunny yelp with all this stuff going on around the country and there's restrictions on travel and everything so if we do our part parents to help the Easter bunny out I think you'll get where he's going and I think I'm gonna do like a like a Facebook live and Instagram live thing where I do like the history of Easter talking about you know Jesus writing Why Is Declawing Cats Controversial?
"To brainstorm a production of iheartmedia in brain stuff. Lauren Bobin here those it look as if Jack. The ripper went dog day afternoon on your couch. Does it seem Edward. SCISSORHANDS continually carves abstract figures into your door jams. If you answer yes to these questions chances. Are you have a cat. Cats are notorious for scratching some scratch furniture. Some picket carpets a few slice human flesh. They used chair legs scratching posts and have been known to shred drapes and tablecloths into rags caps scratch. That's what they do. The American Veterinary Medical Association the Avian A says that this is both perfectly normal but conversely that up to half of people's complaints about feline behavior regards destructive scratching cats don't do it for malevolent reasons but mainly to mark their territory sharpen their nails stretch their tiny cat muscles or remove dead husks from their claws. All of this is natural and instinctive but because such activities can have unwanted consequences many cat owners resort to declawing they're felines but what exactly does this process entail and why is it controversial in July of two thousand nineteen. New York became the first state to outlaw cat declawing a pet owners who declaw their cats for anything other than medically necessary therapeutic purposes like in the case of feline cancer can face a stiff thousand dollar caller fine. Let's because declawing isn't a benign practice. The most common procedures involve a veterinarian amputating the last bone of each cat toe with ablade or laser. It's the equivalent of cutting off each of a human's fingers at the last knuckle other procedures involve severing the Tendon in each toe that controls the toes claw that option allows the clock to remain. The cat. Just won't be able to use it. The cloud will continue to grow though meaning the owner will likely have to trim the cat's nails else any kind of surgery like this done to a creature with a central nervous system is of course going to be painful but how painful pain in animals is tricky to measure. They can't talk us through it and we know that in humans when we experienced pain it's not just that we've taken damage and it hurts hurts but further damage and hurt is upsetting. We can't know whether animals have a similar response but there are some cues we can take from animals to Suss. Suss it out the NBA says clinical signs of pain following declining include a guarding posture reluctance to bear weight on the declawed limbs and reluctance is to move after reviewing one study. The Avia may says that sixty one of one hundred and sixty three cats exhibited signs of pain for between one to forty two days after decline clawing and twenty six percent of cats went lame for between one and fifty four days a longer surgery times and use of scalpels versus other instruments increased risk for lameness Innis after surgery with the passage of the measure in New York the Empire State joined several US cities including Los Angeles and Denver in banning decline fine while similar bills are being considered elsewhere kitty block president of the Humane Society of the United States hopes more communities will make declawing illegal in an e mail block said that the procedure is an unnecessary convenience surgery quote complications from declawing include an increase in biting and litterbox avoidance which often results in the cat being surrendered to an animal shelter block says the humane society is partnering with the PA project and veterinarians is to educate lawmakers around the country about the issue in hopes of expanding the ban so if de-clawing is so painful for cats why do people we'll check this option. The reasons vary some do it because they love their furniture. A declawing may protect cat owners especially those with compromised immune systems who could experience life threatening complications from cat scratches but let's be real instances of cats. Killing people through infection are rare. The Centers for Disease Control estimates that each year twelve thousand people in the United States are diagnosed with cat scratch fever resulting in five hundred hospitalizations for most people though the disease is is mild with low grade fever fatigue and headaches and there are ways to change a cat scratching behavior here are few from our friends at pet. MD You can invest scratching post or several and place them strategically around the house. When your cat starts to scratch don't Yeller scold just pick her up up and put her near the post. Try Sprinkling CATNIP on your cat scratching post to make it more inviting. You can also take a toy to the post or by scratching post with one when the cat swipes at it. She might scratch the post and realize it's pretty great. Cover your cats favorite scratching sites with double sided sticky tape to deter future scratching coaching or try spraying furniture with herbal sprays that cats will avoid finally you can always trim your cat's nails to a blunt edge or if your cat is a fan of nail trims consider buying classic colored caps to place over the clause not only save your furniture but your cat will be pretty styling.

Given the same type of bone fracture, are people likely to get the same treatment for pain?
"Dr Michael Wilks with a second opinion. A young woman goes to the emergency room with a fracture of her leg bone the femur when she arrives the bone is clearly broken. But it's going to take a while to get the x rays. Call the surgeon to repair it and prepare the operating room in that time, she expects that a doctor will assess her pain and prescribed some appropriate treatment to reduce your suffering while all the preparations are completed. Well, it turns out that whether she gets the pain medication and the strength of the pain medicine is more result of her skin color than her injury. Research has shown that if she is black and has an identical injury to a white person. Her pain is likely to be under treated compared to those who are white Joseph Friedman is a researcher who studies pain, very recently. There have been studies that have come out where they survey a large number of medical students and medical providers and find that. That shocking number of physicians and students actually still believe that people have different racial groups feel pain differently have different pain thresholds while implicit bias can play a role in doctor's behavior. So does socialization the history of the war on drugs. The history of drugs in America is highly racialist history, and so physicians go into a medical encounter into any clinical encounter with all of this sort of psychological, baggage about what kinds of people seek drugs who is a trustworthy patient who should receive a prescription for something like an opioid other research has shown that some medical professionals unconsciously believed that the black body and the native American body is biologically different and in many cases, stronger than the white body and therefore needs less pain medicine, this belief goes back generations to at least the time of slavery. A recent study nearly one. One million kids all of whom had appendicitis showed that black kids. Relative to white kids were less likely to receive any pain medicine, and we're also less likely to receive narcotic pain medicine for their documented pain. But the problem isn't just the undertreatment of pain. There is what Joseph Friedman the lead researcher of recent pain study describes as a double sided epidemic. His study shows that systemic racism has led to the over treatment and addiction of low income whites. But on the other side, there's also a problem with the undertreatment of non white people who are in pain or in need of medications for psychiatric conditions firstly. We need to be very careful about the way that we're cracking down on prescriptions for opioids previous studies have shown that in general when you monitor who is receiving prescriptions for controlled substances the rate goes down, but it. Doesn't go down equally. It disproportionately goes down among communities of color, and in many cases, it can go down for people who actually have a legitimate medical need that requires these medications in this most recent opioid outbreak. The irony is that these two forces the over treatment of whites in the undertreatment of people of color contributed to shielding communities of color from the brunt of addiction to prescription opioids and death. This is Dr Michael Wilks with a second opinion.
Racial and Ethnic Difference in medication for pain and anxiety (Part 1)
"This is Dr Michael Wilks with a second opinion. The current opioid problem is a nightmare for people families and communities, but in many ways, it's different from what we've seen in the past war on drugs, historically, when we've talked about a drug problem. We're usually talking about non white communities and the drugs have been heroin and crack this opioid epidemic is different. It's concentrated in low income white communities. The current opioid epidemic is tied directly to American physicians and their inappropriate prescribing pain medications, but opioids are not the only drugs being over prescribed by physicians in poor white communities and important study published in JAMA looked at the relationship between race and income with regard to three groups of prescription drugs. Opioids stimulants and drugs like valium lead. Researcher Joseph Friedman explains what we found in our study is that in the lowest income whitest areas in California about forty five percent of the adult population is receiving an opioid prescription each year. Whereas in the lowest income communities of color that that rate falls to only about twenty percent. It turns out that wider communities. Get more prescriptions. For example, there's a six hundred percent difference in prescriptions for stimulant drugs, comparing wealthy white areas and poor non white areas, perhaps the communities around Los Angeles. Make the case most strongly the research reports that twenty seven percent of adults in Beverly Hills received a prescription for a drug like valium each year compared with only five percent of adults in Comte in this can't simply be explained away by difference in medical need. Between those in Beverley hills. And those in Compton a number of factors might be at play here. But one is certainly implicit bias again Joseph Friedman, meaning that physicians go into medical encounters with certain stereotypes about who might be drug seeking who is worthy of receiving a prescription for a controlled substance like an opioid those implicit biases that we all hold are actually shaping the pattern of who received prescriptions. So if doctor were to have an implicit bias against black people and fail. They were more likely to be drug abusers or engage in drug seeking behaviors they would unconsciously be less likely to prescribe drugs to them in some senses. Doctors over prescribing opioids has been protected for communities of color, but the prescribing problem is really double sided one of our main conclusions here is that the OTs. Opioid epidemic should be thought of as a quote double sided epidemic where you have too much. Prescribing of Bobo it's in one community and not enough prescription in the different community. And so it's important to address both sides of these issues. So all our attention seems to be on the over prescribing of opioids in white communities, which is certainly vitally important. But where is the discussion around the undertreatment in communities of color? This is Dr Michael Wilks with a second opinion.
Networking Tips for Dummies
"Joining us today is Dr Ivan Meisner Ivan Meisner dot com. One of the. Most successful business gurus that we have he he's the founder of B N, I dot com, which is the world's largest networking organization. He co-authored the new book who's in your room the secret to creating your best rife? I need help. I've been always wonderful to have you on. It takes me back. I started to feel like a regular on the show. Thank you. You are. So I I do this every year. And then I go through the cards, and I try to make notes on the plane on the way back because it's west coast. Why have hours to kind of do that? And I for the life of me, I still have like about twenty five to forty cards. And I'm like oh God. Where did I get this card from? How? It's total blank. So. One thing that I really recommend when people are at large events or multi day event. And they're getting a lot of business cards. But there's a massive caveat to the end of what I'm going to suggest to you what I recommend is that you when you get the card ask the person is you note on the back of your card. And then just jot a note down there. Conversation. Maybe you're just a sentence. I was at with it. I meet them. Absolutely. Yes. Or what was the conversation about four or what I like is talking to somebody and they express some kind of need. And I say, hey, look, I can send you an article on that I can introduce you to somebody who can help you with that. And I always make sure to write down on the back, just a quick note. So that in my follow up and follow up is the key in my follow up. I I make that introduction. Right. Send that article link lake. That's so important. So writing on the back of the personnel. Sometimes I'll do it when I say walk away. But usually I do it while they're standing right there. I'll just ask him if it's okay. Here's the caveat. Right. No, no in Asia. Never right on the back of a car auto card in most Asian countries Japan. Malaysia Hong Kong, China, it is really. An insult to write on their cards. Right. Yeah. So what you do is. If you're if you know, what what do you do I recommend that you haven't notepad small little notepads? And if you know, you're going to be connecting with a lot of Asian business professionals. You start writing on the no pet because it's it's bad for and plus the whole business card ritual. Have you ever noticed in UP? You may have experienced yourself with an Asian business person holds the two corners of the cartoony. They bow and handwritten card. Yes. Okay. That's called in Japan. That's called the itchy ritual. Exchanger business cards, and you should learn how to do it in return, which Americans we practically Tausif business cards. Somebody did this card is no big deal, but typically deal in in in countries like Japan. And so what they do is. They all the tips of the corner. Facing you handed to you. You should take it from the two tips on the bottom. Look at it. Thanks him for the card, and if at all possible comment on the cart, a real easy common for me, generally is most of the Asian business people that are doing business with Americans have a double sided card. Japanese english. It's all usually come at us. You have English on the backside. That's very nice. Thank you, or whatever. It's attractive card. You comment on the car? That's the ritual ritual, which is very common in Asia in America. You don't need to do that. But so it does vary a little bit. But I recommend to right on it. That's the way you remember. Okay. Perfect. Now. I was just at an event a networking event. I then where people didn't have business cards. We don't use them anymore. We're green we're electron. I was. Yeah. So I think it's a really bad idea really bad idea. I think that we still we it's possible that we're straddling technology in that there will be a time where nobody has business cards, and it's just an electronic bump of the mobile phones. But we're not there yet. Absolutely, not dairy. Now. I talked to millennials are so yes, we are. And then I'll say, okay. Well, how many in the room here can do that electric bumper where you just past? And you know, it's like five percents. Oh. So we're not there yet. In a big room. Maybe if there are a lot of millennials you might get twenty percent of the room with eighty percent of the rooms still doesn't have that technology are used at technology. You understand that technology and business cards come on? It's the cheapest form of advertising on the planet. What the heck are you thinking if you don't carry business cards? It's just poor business.
