"News. Twenty minutes away from eight o'clock. My name is Joe Kelley at talkradio. Joe I'm joined by channel nine eyewitness news political reporter Christopher heath and from our Washington DC bureau. Dory Shammar is joining us as well. And Dori tonight. Of course, the big night. I know that you're very excited about any president's state of the union address. Yeah. It's sunny it just become so routine. But it's it's it's an exciting day at the capitol, especially because lawmakers bring guests there's always a theme, you know, depending on the political climate at the time is up years ago. A lot of Democrats Br refugees this year. We're hearing a lot of lawmakers are bringing workers who are furloughed during the shutdown to talk about the impacts that that chat down hat on them. Republicans are bringing folks who've been impacted by illegal immigration. So you'll you'll see these kinds of symbols come up throughout the day trying to make political points even from from the audience. Chris do you do you have a big high hopes for tonight's address or just going to be just more of the same? If we if we get anything out of it. It'd be nice to see a blueprint for one. How we avoid the next government shutdown which is yes clock is ticking. We probably need to have that in place the basic framework of it by the end of this week. So clock is very much taking and kind of the plan going forward for dealing with the debt ceiling. I think until you clear those two things out of the way in some substantive fashion. All the other policies all the other things that you'd like to do to make the government function better for the people really can't happen. We gotta get the basics out of the way. And right now, I'd like to hear how we're going to have both of those things happen because they both have to happen. I can't help it to think about how much the Democrats hate Donald Trump so much more. So than this time last year when he spoke to a joint session of congress. And I would think that that that visceral hatred of Donald Trump is going to show itself in some way, shape or form. And I think that Joe Wilson you lie moment with Brock Obama. And whether or not anybody is going to openly taunt President Trump like that time with President Obama. It's hard to say, no some. Yeah. We we know some Democrats are just not coming to the speech. John Lewis from Atlanta, obviously, Steve Cohen of Memphis, not going. So so you'll see some of that people just saying I have no interest in in hearing more of the same from from this president. But you know, it's hard to predict. Those Joe Wilson moments before they have I'll be tuning in just four those Joe Wilson moments there may or may not be and let me be that guy. Once again to point out that we don't actually have to have a speech for the state of the union. The constitution just says that a report should be delivered to congress. We could go back to pre Woodrow Wilson days where it's just a written drafted the president then hands off to both chambers. And we all move on with our silent wholeheartedly support that you'll be able to hear both the president's state of the union, and the democrat reply that'll be coming up tonight. Our live team coverage gets underway at eight o'clock. You'll be able to hear the address tonight at nine and of course, tomorrow morning right here in Orlando's morning news. We'll be talking about it and decompressing and peeling back the layers of it and getting your reaction to it as well. So make sure you tune in tonight and then again tomorrow morning right here on news ninety six point five.

"News ninety six point five WDBO source suggestion. Is a simple one Mr President reopen the government, and we can work to resolve our differences over border security, but and this shutdown now Matt from Chuck Schumer last night after the president's Oval Office address. I support the president and building the wall. I don't really understand why the Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are so against it. Why get it it's political? But I don't understand how they can go to bed at night knowing that there's illegals hurting people in America. Taxes? Good morning. It's now seven forty on Orlando's morning news twenty minutes away from eight o'clock. My name is Joe Kelley at talk radio. Joe we're joined now by Dory. Shaima from our news ninety six point five WDBO Washington DC bureau, and I gotta tell you if I was one of the network heads that that gave free airtime to the president last night. I would probably be rethinking that decision as he really didn't give any specific news last night. There was no news, Jamie. And I as we do we're going back and forth. You know, checking out the president's speech, and there really was nothing new from the president or from the democratic leaders who spoke after that true. Yup. Absolutely. And I heard I heard one analysts describe it as an intrusion into Americans Tuesday night. And really it was the same things we've been hearing from the president and from democratic leaders for nineteen plus days now of this shutdown. So I'm not quite sure that that kind of a duress was needed in this moment. But President Trump has definitely been feeling the pressure from from Republicans on Capitol Hill from his own aides that he needs to be more aggressive. If he is standing firm on this five point seven billion dollars. Then he needs to be more aggressive in getting that message in controlling the narrative out there. Yeah. He's got the bully pulpit. He doesn't need primetime TV to do it. But he's got the bully pulpit. But maybe he should have done it two weeks ago that and that's what some aides in some Republicans on the hill are saying, you know, the president said. Last night that we could get this done in forty five minutes and to be Frank. That's probably true if the White House took a step back Mitch McConnell. The Senate majority leader has been mostly a completely sidelined in this situation saying, you know, if the if the president is going to we already passed a Bill that the president had told me that we would sign and he took that back in. So this point this is the White House's battle to fight. Let me know when you have something that the Senate can pass that you'll also be willing to sign. So I'm interested to see if that dynamic changes in the coming days as this White House looks for options to get out of this. Meanwhile, President Trump's coming down to your neck of the woods today. Right. Capitol hill. Yeah. There's a lot of back and forth on today in Washington up and down Pennsylvania Avenue. The president coming to Capitol Hill to meet with Senate Republicans for pretty much the exact reasons I just laid out then later in the afternoon congressional leaders from both parties will go to the White House for another one of those fund Oval Office meetings to again, try to work out a deal to reopen the government at this point we've missed that that Tuesday night at midnight deadline, where officials think they needed to reopen the government in order for federal workers to be paid on Friday. So in all likelihood, even if they can figure something out today or tomorrow. Detriment employees are going to miss a paycheck on Friday. And I think that when that happens that will again, kind of change change, the dynamics here that is real people involved here. These are real people that are either mortgage, I'm they can't buy groceries. That's that that will play a role here. It will it will. Absolutely, so Dory Shammar. And then of course, the president is going to be going to the border for a pretty much a photo op to go down to the border and to look presidential. Yeah. And that's that's what was going on right now. I mean, both sides are playing the messaging game and trying to control the story here. Democrats are having more press events with furloughed workers, those people who are gonna miss paycheck the president's going to the border for what he admits is mostly a photo op. So that we're going to keep seeing that until I don't know until one side gives something so we can end this. All right, doors shumur is going to continue to follow this story for us throughout the day today and this weekend, however, long it takes seven forty four. Or.

"Go outside. Take a nice deep breath and enjoy the wonderful afternoon. We're having here in central Florida. High of eighty degrees today tonight will be into the upper fifties cold front coming through tomorrow leading to a high of just seventy on Wednesday and sixty. On Thursday, twelve ten here at news ninety six point five WDBO Scott Anez where the Orlando's news at noon, the partial government shutdown now on day eighteen the president will make his case for the money for the border wall tonight from the Oval Office. Let's get a preview from our Washington bureau reported Dory. Chamoun dory. The president calling it a crisis at the border the dams insisting they're not gonna fund a border wall. So this is going to be a very interesting evening at the White House tonight. Yeah. I mean, the president is clearly trying to take control of the narrative of this shutdown scene reporting that the president was frustrated that he didn't see more administration officials on TV defending his his shutdown stance. And then we saw just that vice president Pence making the rounds this morning on three television networks to make the case that not only is this about national security in making sure that we don't have people coming in at the southern border. But it's also humanitarian crisis that needs immediate. Immediate effects, and that's what they're they're calling on Democrats to deal, but Democrats we're talking to you have no intention of caving and giving the president that five point seven billion dollars. He is requesting we'll hear from Senate majority leader Senate, minority leader Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi tonight, right after the president's address, you do wonder if in the address the president mentions of the story that we've been hearing about bypassing congress by declaring some sort of national emergency, correct. Yeah. That's absolutely, right. That's one of the options that we are at this point expecting him to to lay out, and maybe even announce at that point. But what we're also reporting at this hour is that that money would have to come from military construction projects already. Appropriated. What does that mean? Well, we're digging into the list of those construction projects in the last appropriations to find out if any projects on basis. In Florida maybe affected maybe put on hold because that money is then directed to the president for the border wall. Right dory. Thank you so much, and we will have the president's address from the Oval Office live right here on news ninety six point five WDBO beginning at nine o'clock Dory. Thank you. We'll talk later on in the week. That's our Washington bureau reporter Dory. Shammar twelve twelve. Now, your news ninety six point five WDBO five day forecast. Brought to you by Tuffy.

"Minutes away from eight o'clock on Orlando's morning news. This is a special edition of Orlando's morning news. The hunt is on for the bomb maker or make hers. Joining us now from our Washington DC bureau was Dory. Shammar and Dory manages to another day and another crazy series of events. Yeah. I mean, we've been following this since yesterday morning as another bomb this morning a suspicious package is detected in New York City. What do you think I want to highlight this morning is the federal response and investigation to this bomb scare we have the FBI working with the New York City police department their joint terrorism task force the secret services involved, the ATF involved, a DHS's involved the FBI? Of course is involved. So we have all hands on deck in terms of a federal law enforcement response. Trying to track down the suspect or suspects as soon as possible in the hope that there's no more of these similar bombs in the mail right now, though, the FBI is warning that that is definitely a possibility. And and then the president is tweeting about it this morning, and he's pretty much blaming the media for it. Yeah. And and you know, what this is different than than the initial response from the president yesterday, which was a tone that earned him quite a bit of praise here in Washington. And on Capitol Hill, I talked to a house lawmaker from North Carolina. Just after the president spoke a Republican lawmaker who who was really happy with the tone that the president took you know, that we need to come together that we need to. Condemn in the highest terms political violence that it has no place in the United States that it's it's really an attack on our democracy. Then this morning, though, he is he is turning back to his now common attacks on the media thing that news outlets are to blame for the anger in our society today that one not sitting so well as one of the bombs that was delivered yesterday was delivered to CNN in New York City, you know, a frequent critic of the president. But in all I say in all fairness, but it was addressed to John Brennan at CNN. It wasn't really addressed to CNN directly. But the the effect would have been the same bomb showing up at CNN. But it wasn't like it was addressed to the CEO or news director or you one of the anchors. Anderson Cooper, or whatever it CNN was addressed to John Brennan who I guess doesn't work there. No, he actually has a contract with MSNBC ABC as a contract. So we know that the whoever the bombmakers are not entirely brilliant. No. And there's a lot of reason to to make that conclusion. I mean, also the fact that, you know, a bomb sent through the mail to the home of a former president isn't going to get anywhere near that misspell, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and yeah, and that is another one Maxine Waters, Debbie Wasserman Schultz. This is somebody tuned into politics in a very specific granular way. The those characters are familiar to them in this political climate, or are you going.

Get the idea Dory Shammar is joining us from the news ninety six point five WDBO Washington DC, bureau good morning Dory hey good morning Joe, tell, me about this this new survey that has come out about voter enthusiasm this morning yeah, a brand new poll out just about an hour ago from politico and morning consult finds that eighty three percent of voters are motivated to vote in the upcoming mid terms compared to nine, percent who are, not, motivated over three fourths seventy six percent said they were. Motivated in may seventy. Two in December so, this is a high In the. Polling about the, midterms and. I think that we. We've. Seen that and as the closer that makes sense but voters on both sides of. The aisle, are. Motivated, by the, concerns. Over control of the. US house and Senate Republicans will obviously wanting to keep Republicans in. Control, of both chambers as well as the presidency obviously Democrats feeling like they have. Some momentum and that they may be able to at least take control back of the house so these numbers this morning aren't totally surprising does it break it down though by party are the Democrats more motivated than Republicans or. The other way round yes Democrats are eighty excuse me. Eighty seven. Percent of Democrats say that they are motivated, that, number is up. Seven percent from may but it does not give me Republican numbers here interesting I'm, gonna have to get back to you on, that the, other interesting thing on that piece of the poll is that voters would be most likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by former President Obama and. Least likely to vote for, someone endorsed by either Donald Trump or Nancy Pelosi well. Oh that's interesting so Trump or Pelosi Trump or Pelosi don't eat dourson it's candidates all right Dory Chamoun. With the latest information for us out of our Washington bureau thank you Dorie seven forty one on Orlando's. Morning, news Tom Terry joins us now the full five day forecast brought to you by the law offices of hail hail and. Jacobsen Joe another warm humid morning and again. The seabreeze coming in from the east and? West coast will give a scattered mid to late afternoon thunderstorms about? Thirty Percents storm coverage today with a. High around. Ninety two starting to see some drier though on our. Water vapor loop it's very obvious in the, northern Bahamas that's going to be moving our way. Perhaps. As early as tomorrow but I think certainly by Friday. We'll see rain chance going way down and the temperature staying hot so for tomorrow we're still on the edge of this moisture still about a twenty to thirty percent storm coverage but we're down to only eight ten percent rain chance. For, Friday, and starting. Out the weekend they extended five day forecast we're only. About two. Months away. From. The typical end of the wet season but we're going to see..

"From the news ninety six point five WDBO Washington DC bureau and Doria let's get into these NDA's. Non disclosure agreements and an Omarosa is out there chatting up a storm one wonders if she signed an NDA Omarosa the former apprentice star and then senior suffer. At the White House on her book tour promoting her book out today and there's been a lot of. Questions about, what she is disclosing from. Her time at the White House, in politico they're talking about the Nondisclosure agreement that many White House aides signed when they signed up to work in the White House it includes a clause that, prohibits aids. From disclosing confidential information in any form including books but out the express permission of the president now. If aids violate those terms the nondisclosure agreements stipulated they'd have to, forfeit the US government any royalties advancing advances or book earnings the story goes on to say. That these kinds of NDA's are unprecedented in White House they're not typically used for federal government workers including White House, officials officials excuse me On the assumption that they, are public servants, that this wouldn't be a problem but definitely different. In this Trump White House you know and whether or not that is legal whether or not that is advisable it's certainly. Doesn't bode well one would think. For someone like Omarosa to to have the opportunity of a lifetime to work in the White House and then to go out and bad mouth the entire experience yeah I mean these. Are. We talked about this I was watching the apprentice on the first season and if you have watched the apprentice and. You know maroshek from TV you know that this is not all that surprising, I think, that it speaks to kind of the cast. Of characters that have come into, the White House because of President Trump's background was not in, politics it was not in public service. And because of that many of his closest allies that he brought into the White House. Do not have that sort of mentality going, into it right Dory Shammar. With Elaine This morning from the news ninety six point. Five WDBO Washington DC bureau thank you Dorie it is now seven forty one on Orlando's morning news our five day forecast brought to you by the law offices of hail hail and, Jacobson Hello Tom good Tuesday morning Joe as, we get, out into the scrum of traffic temperatures, will be warming up later low, nineties today best timing for. "Back to our top story today right now. President Trump heading to Florida for Jacksonville. Area rally for congressman running for governor will, take you for Dory Chevron just a minute was wanna give out the forecast real quick. So we check the interactive weather radar we do have rain in. The forecast day seventy percent chance of rain, later this afternoon about the same time a popped, up yesterday but right. Now we're seeing cloudy skies around the metro and sunny if you're in, the northern part right now eighty six. Degrees in Sanford and ninety, s, cetera, Linda severe weather station let's bring in. Now Dory Shammar from our DC bureau and Doria believe President Trump is on the move today I to the Jacksonville area No actually, he's headed, to Tampa sorry to. Make this thing but he's going, to Tampa to rally. For eight Jacksonville area congressman. Ron. To Santa's who is now running for governor, so the president's leaving DC around three o'clock, this afternoon to head the chapel where I he will participate. In, a round table discussion on workplace development how a Bill that. Has made it through the congress the. Signing of the strengthening career technical education for, the twenty first century act after that he'll go to the Florida state fairgrounds for that. Rally in this is a big deal and it highlights President Trump's. Dedication to the campaign trail ahead of the, midterm election yeah that was confusing I thought he, was going to Tampa. For the stadium but no that was not true he was going for, that rally that is in Tampa so. No worries about that yes He's also. Historically endorsed Ron to Santa's. Correct Yes so he really, has put Ron to. Santa's on the map the congressman from. Jacksonville Has run for statewide office in Florida times before but his name recognition with. Quite low, and that's in President Trump tweeted about them all the, way, back in December he said congressman Ron to Santa's is a. Real brilliant young leader Yale and then Harvard law, would make a great governor of Florida he loved our country in as a. True. Fighter and it's only after that tweet and then another tweet, later just in June That, is. Now the front. Runner for the GOP primary for the governor so clearly in this race at least President Trump's endorsement making, a, big deal or you. Know is a big deal in that race door Shammar checking in, with, us thank you so much we'll check with you tomorrow see what Trump is, up to no doubt, he'll probably be on Twitter later tonight. Then for this evening the rain will dissipate most, of it out of here right around sunset for tonight remaining sticky overnight as As well.

"Dory shaima endured lots going on right now including this court imposed deadline for the Trump administration to, reunite family The Mexican border, but first, our breaking news and I know it's breaking to, you. As well the house speaker Paul Ryan saying just moments ago, that he does not support a house. Conservatives efforts to impeach the deputy, Turner, rod Rosenstein is is that is that a big surprise up there inside the beltway no it's. Not an here's why the way the the Republicans who, do support, this effort introduced it in the house gave us a, big clue as to how was going. To be, received with house leadership and the rest of the Republican conference they did it in a way that it would not force a vote on the house floor so that tells us that they, knew the line that they were walking and that that he. Did not want to create the GOP civil war that would ensue by forcing a vote on this issue Republicans very divided on that and we saw that you know just just about, an hour, ago with speaker Paul Ryan he gave, multiple reasons for why he didn't support the effort including that he Thinks that Republicans, have been able to make what he said it was tremendous progress with. The Justice department in document retrieval so they're the he's, saying we don't have full compliance but the Justice department is now? Complying, with the vast. Majority of our requests for, documents okay we'll keep our eye on, this story I know we'll, have your reports throughout the afternoon so let's move on to this story now Dory today is that deadline for the Trump administration. To reunite those families separated at the Mexican border due to that zero tolerance immigration policy what's. The latest on that now yeah well since I talked to Joe Kelley about this this morning the government has has given an update saying by the end of the day today they will update the court with how many remaining. Families are separated that, they need, to reunify then the government goes back to court, tomorrow. On this issue lawmakers were skeptical at that the department of, homeland security HHS That they. Would all be able to reunify the two thousand plus children separated from their families at the border two. Issues one is that they believe hundreds now of parents were. Deported without their, children making, it very difficult to reunify, those families there's also a couple dozen people that they are not able to identify they. Don't. Know exactly who they are making it. Very hard to find their pair if you will, knows to issues still remain for the. Government, to complete, this corridor okay so by the end of today we'll find out how many families roughly remained separated then the government goes back? To court tomorrow so we'll see? What. Happens, and I know Dory will keep us up to date, dorey thank you so much pre shoot it that's our Washington bureau reported Dory Shammar, live from DC twelve thirteen here at news ninety six point five WDBO five day forecast brought. So join me nonstop on the radio from this moments all the way until noon today what the heck I should host Orlando's news at noon as well. Seventy three degrees clouds rain a little. Bit of sunshine Dory Shammar is joining us from. The news ninety six point five WDBO Washington DC bureau Hello Dory hey good morning channels so. We wake up this morning and silently Iran is. A thing what what what happened, yeah increase tensions between Iran and the United States this morning as the presidents of those two countries go at, it this started over the weekend with the Iranian president he. Was addressing a group of Iranian diplomats saying this quote America must understand well. That peace with Iran is the mother of all peace in war with Iran is the. Mother of all wars now President Trump responded to that comment late last night, all caps tweeting never ever threaten the United States again or you will suffer consequences the lake of which few throughout history have Ever suffered before we are no longer a country. That will stand for. Your demented words of violence and death be cautious now this is an ongoing tension between. The United States? And Iran you remember the President Trump pulled out, of the Iranian nuclear, deal last year he also imposed. New. Sanctions on the country so the tensions have been high but we're seeing them escalated. With, these. New, comments from both. Of the president's and one wonders that I kind of wondered out. Loud on the air? Just, a little while ago but one wonders if we can treat row Romani Ronnie this same as we treat Kim. Jong UN I mean if if if that kind. Of threats seems to have worked with a rocket man but when a will. At, work with Iran right and that's the big question President Trump is facing criticism this morning about how he goes. About, diplomacy this public sparring if you will and how, productive that is. But we will see as the day goes on you know what's. Going on behind the scenes that really isn't Increasing this tension we're, hearing. From secretary of state Mike Pompeo he had. Strong words, in a speech yesterday for Iran so we're going to dig into this more to get that context of why all of a sudden it seems to. Us, that there's this increased tension no doubt this is not the, last we will have heard of this topic Dory shumur in the news ninety. Six point five WDBO Washington DC bureau thank. "Now twenty minutes away from eight o'clock dory shammar is joining us from washington dc she is in our washington dc bureau and dori it's all happening right now behind closed doors in helsinki finland president trump meeting with president putin we heard from both of those leaders just a few minutes ago president putin speaking i according to the pool that's because russia is considered the host country of the summit president trump then followed with longer remarks them putin's he i congratulated putin on hosting the world cup flattering him saying he's heard it's the best world cup ever he also discussed other issues that the two leaders will be talking about but that did not include russian election meddling something that his his critics both on both sides i'll here on capitol hill are putting pressure on him to do you know it really seems like there's two issues here because president trump keeps talking about fake news and and the witch hunt the russia witch hunt and i suppose an argument could be made and maybe this is the argument the president trump is trying to make the veteran argument can be made that maybe it is a witch hunt would it comes to collusion with the trump campaign and the russians but the issue of russian election meddling envy elections that seems like there's a lot more credibility to that one and and i would think if you're going to bring up anything with vladimir putin at the very least want to say hey stop messing with our elections yeah if if president trump makes clear or pushes that quite a bit but there's no collusion that it's fake news but that's really not what the indictments that we've been reporting on reflect we've been reporting obviously and most recently friday about this thirteen new indictments against russian agents for meddling in us elections it would seem that president trump would want to show strength on that issue if for no other reason to push push back against the idea that he's soft on russia that he's not taking a tough stance with putin and giving his critics any fodder for that talk about collusion yup and that is that's gonna that looks like it'd be an all day affair i mean they're going to wrap this thing up and just a few hours and then they'll both be back to their respective countries yeah another interesting thing to note is that we are told that neither of these presidents will have any aides with them them something that is concerning for some of president trump's staff because there will be no record of what's in the room other than from those two leaders that's exactly why president trump reportedly wanted that he wanted to first of all prevent leaks from his own staff but also didn't want his staff to undercut any of the messages that president trump wanted to deliver their obviously causing some concern for his aides for this white house but that is how they've decided to proceed only two translators in that meeting with the two president we will have live updates throughout the day to day every fifteen minutes right here on news ninety six point five wdbo dory.
