"Up here who might have picked the Giants. One of them is Marcus spirit. 14 to 7 game midway through the second quarter third and two from the Vikings 27 Daniel Jones keeps it picking up the first down the 12 yard game difference maker Daniel Ross. Beautiful designed run on third and two. You got lead blockers out front. You can use your quarterback's athletic legs. First drive of the second half, giant second and 7 shock Vikings. In the red zone bootlegging to his left. How? How do they not see that? Giant sleep 24 to 14. Here's Minnesota with another chance in Kirk Cousins, connects with irv Smith junior for the three yard touchdown 24 to 21 game, early fourth quarter. It's the same score, the Vikings going for it on fourth and one from the giant 16, Dan cousins tries to get the sneak, but there is a flag on the plate. You see the up close view. I probably would have jumped if there was 600 pounds of meat in front of me as well. Yeah, you would have more of a chicken guy. All right, so ensuing giant strive, a second attempt in a total 45 Jones. Isaiah Hodgins, you pointed him out as a potential difference maker. Look at that size. Yes. Facial awareness. It's finished with a 105 yards in the game, the Giants driving later in the drive with under 8 to play first and goal from the two, excuse me. That may not be first and goal for the two. We're going to continue on. That's fourth down. So good job there. But the Vikings not able to get it done. The Giants hold on to win it. 31 to 24 and Daniel Jones put the Giants on his back yesterday. Throwing for 301 yards two touchdowns while also leading the team with 78 rushing yards. He's the third QB in NFL history to have at least 300 passing yards in 75 rushing yards in a playoff game. He joins Lamar Jackson and Steve Young in that category. Jones is the only one among this group that also had multiple touchdown passes. He's the only QB that won the game. That's the most important stat. A Dan, what did you like about the giant's game plan on offense first of all? Daniel Jones was impressive, but his head coach and play caller Mike Kafka were evenly equally impressive. And I know what I'm about to say, but my Kafka reminds me of a young Andy Reid and Kyle Shanahan the way he attacks defense. Oh. And not just calls play. So this is 21 personnel, two backs, one tight end. Bunch to the top, balls on the bottom, right hash, okay? Now they're gonna motion that tight end over. Now when I set that bunch, that's a nickelback. We call them little people, okay? And then the jet motion is gonna come so I take a bunch from the top and make it a bunch at the bottom. I'm gonna pull the center and that left tackle. Remember, the nickel is the guy that's left up top. I'm gonna kick this ball to saquon. Now I have big body blocking little body, big blocking body, blocking little body. That is a great play design for the saquon touchdown. Now we go down into the red zone, 12 personnel, two tight ends are up top. What I'm gonna do is pull my left tackling left guard. I'm gonna ball fake and I'm gonna go counter saquon. Now watch Patrick Peterson 'cause those two tight ends are one two counting. They switch release the inside guy goes outside. Patrick follows the outside guy down and that's Daniel Bellinger for a wide open touchdown. Andy Reid and Kyle Shanahan to me are like the greatest formation manipulators personnel managers. Mike Kafka is becoming that. The way they use their 21 person all the way, they used Matt Breda as a wide receiver multiple times. And honestly, I watched and I was like, man, are you saquon? The same way San Francisco uses Christian McCaffrey when it comes to the variants of touches. As great as Daniel played, and he was great. The coaching by New York right now is special. Yeah, I think obviously it starts at the top with Brian Dave, got to be a favorite for coach of the year. It wasn't just the offense, though, Marcus. What did you like defensively with the Giants? Do I ever been to a monster truck rally? I came to monster truck here. Years ago. That's what the good times defensive line looked like. Past the trucks. Okay. 'cause they are so physical and they get after the passer and the great thing that wing Martin, we Martin Dillon, defense core data for the New York Giants in case y'all don't know. He loves the blitz. He loves to bring more people than you can block. Well, you don't have to. When you have brute force on the defensive line, you can commit four guys to getting after the passer, and they gave co cousin problems all night. But I love the fact that when you look at the Giants play, defensively and offensively, one, they play complimentary football, but they know exactly who they are defensively. Our dominant unit on this side of the ball is our defensive line. We gonna lean into that and make everyone behind them jobs easier. That's why you get a fourth and 8 and a pressure on Kirk Cousins without having to send an extra pressure and you tell your guys, look, tackle on the back end, it's gonna come out. The grave digger. Next Dolores. Next door. I like that. Completely took over this football. I don't think it can be understated enough rewatching how dominant he was rushing from the nose. I love what you say. He's one of the three best defenses of the league, I would say. So you talked a little bit about Wink Martindale, slide dog. Blitzing on only 20% of drawbacks, second lowest of the season. They got punished for blitzing the last time these teams met. The other thing he did was they played a ton of quarters in this game. We were talking about this earlier. Basically just sitting on everything and then tackling. And that's what struck me. You know, they had Xavier McKinney back in this game and a Dory Jackson. If you would ask me for the season, I would have said, this giant secondary is maybe the worst in the NFL. They have improved so much. They were limiting every Minnesota pass catcher after the catch, and that's a big part of the reason why they always do because I want a dope stat. Yeah, sure. Don't stand, all right? Okay. When Justin Jefferson goes over 90 yards. Yeah. The Minnesota Vikings scored 28 points a game. There are ten and one on the season. When he's held under 90, there are three and three and they average 18 points a game. Dope. That was dope. Who got you that? 8. Also. You said you said that Don martindell makes you call him dawn. And so you play well. Wink wink until you're a ball. But we got somebody who bowled up here, so we'll call him wink and we're calling that for this reason. The colts, according to Adam Schefter, requested permission to interview wings aren't dealt with their head coaching job per a source. Well, keep an eye on this either way, but it'd be great to see this guy get a head coaching job, I think it's so much fun. Coming up. Trevor Lawrence at the Jags bounce back completed a third largest comeback in playoff history, why Mina's given Doug Peterson as flowers? Did you see him celebrate the waffle House? We got some pirates here. We'll be right back with more from buck's feet. I'll see you player. Going through a real major. Peloton doesn't just make bikes and treadmills. "Let's go. I'm sorry, that's the last time I'll mention it all day. I promise. As much as you want, in fact, you tweeted out that you may not even be awake for this show because of all the cheering you were going to have to do for the marinade. So I'm glad that you're here. All right, so we hate the fade unless you're Mike Evans. Let's pick this game. Marcus you go first, bucks are falcons, give us a score and tell us why. I'm taking the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I think it goes along with what we were talking about from an offensive standpoint. I think they get it rolling and it's simply about their talent coming back. And if Lenny gets going because of all of these wide receivers, we'll see a familiar offense example. Yeah, I've also got the books. I think not having Patterson and Pitts is just going to be too much for that Atlanta offense to overcome, especially against a buck's defense is going to be coming out angry after getting embarrassed last week. No, Mina makes a great point about the bugs defense stepping up after last week and also some of those missing players, but I believe the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win because they have an opportunity to start to progress as we've seen them throughout many of the seasons as they get healthy and also as this defense starts to realize, okay, every week, we don't just line up and play. We have to come out and perform. All right, yeah, I'm picking the bucks too, guys. And as someone from Atlanta, I feel really gross saying this, but Tom Brady is ten and zero in his career against the falcons of course. The most memorable one was a 25 point comeback. 28. 51. Maybe I'm trying to do a reverse jinx here. I don't know. All right, we got more NFL live coming your way after the break. We get into the cowboys. Just seek and destroy. Everything I experienced, I want to relay that all over again. There's nothing like it. But all access inside King Henry's royal collection of fan art. Kick off your Sunday with us on NFL countdown at 10 a.m. eastern. ESPN. Limelight is brought to you by Corona extra. Find the fine life, live la Vida, moss, fina. Glad you're with us on NFL live. Let's look at some match ups to watch on Sunday, Marcus, start us off with giants packers. Yeah, I'm gonna be looking forward to seeing a Dory Jackson the cornerback for the New York Giants. Face off against Romeo Dobbs and a Green Bay Packers. Dobbs is trying to is turning into Aaron Rodgers. Number one target. And we saw him match up against CD lamb and for a large majority of their game, a Dory Jackson I'm talking about. He has some success. So the young fellow from Green Bay is starting to see an Aaron Rodgers is building that trust with him. Adora Jackson and Romeo dives is a match up to watch. So the Carolina Panthers best chance at staying in this thing versus San Francisco is, of course, up front. Their defense has been very good. And Brian burns versus a backup backup left tackle in Jalen Moore, colt could give it was hurt last week. He of course is playing a relief of Trent Williams. Well, that's what it's going to take for Carolina to get after Jimmy Garoppolo, their defense is going to have to keep them in this, for some turnovers, force Jimmy Garoppolo to make dad bad decisions. It starts with Brian burns. You know what? It looks like the world is upside down. Mark your spears is talking about DBs and wide receivers. And me and me and I are talking about the trenches. I want to see if miles Garrett can start getting this pass rush going for the Cleveland Browns. And look, you know rashawn slater is out. He's a guy who was a lynchpin on that offensive line, and you have to protect Justin Herbert, especially with him getting banged up early on in the season and when you don't get to him, he will cut you up like. He will actually cook and it's not just hot ramen like we are seeing in Denver and so miles Gary can get to him. You can maybe stop some of those things and some of those big plays down the field for Justin Herbert. I like what they make that I like when they make that little train with the onions and the smoke be coming out. That's my favorite thing about it. But here's the question, do y'all let them throw shrimp in your mouth? I told you. Amen. Why? I'm afraid of choking on it. Yeah. That's true. You gotta catch it in the right spot. Okay, okay. Let's get it back. The winners of three straight with Cooper rush filling in for the injured dak Prescott. They faced the defending Super Bowl champs who will have to come up with a plan for the Dallas defense that stifled offense with its pressure. Let's dig a little deeper on that pass rush. They've generated 65 pressures third most by any team through four games of a season since ESPN began tracking pressures in 2009. That could continue on Sunday against Matthew Stafford and the rams offensive line, which has struggled. Stafford's been sacked 16 times, which was tied for second most in the NFL, entering this week, no doubt that that Dallas defense has been dominant Marcus. How do the rams try and counteract this cowboys pass rush? Yeah, legit just recovering from what we just talked about. Listen, the rams running game has to be prevalent. The one thing that Dallas defense has shown the propensity to give up is some explosive plays on the ground. And this defense, once they get you in the third and 5 plus, it's probably the hardest defense to play against in the NFL because of that risk group that they have. So I'm looking for Henderson and anchors. They got to turn into Adrian Peterson or something. They got to turn into some monsters, this game. And then find somebody else to spread the ball to, but more importantly, this run game for the Los Angeles Rams is going to help facilitate everything else that they need in order to try to beat this Dallas Cowboys defense. Yeah, right, and the cowboys offense has been clicking, you know, even without that dak Prescott. How can they keep that going against the rams? You know, if you look at this offense, they've gotten better every week and Cooper rush has kind of found his place in this offense. CD lamb stepping up making number one plays. Obviously Michael Gallup is back on the outside. And what Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard has done is provide some explosive plays and we've seen Zeke with some very physical running in tough running and matchup situations. But here's what I want you all to think about. And Marcus knows this guy and we all do. There's always this offensive lineman that actually used to play like tailback when he was in high school or play something when he was in the league. And he has legs. He has like kind of like Kenyan ankles, you know, those marathon ankles, but up top. He's giving me like a big dude, right? He got a big belly. He got a barrel chest. That's what the Los Angeles Rams are on defense. Their top heavy. You know, Aaron Donald's really good. Bobby Wagner is really good. And so is Jalen Ramsey. Everybody else, they kind of like, ugh, they're the little ankles of the offensive lineman. And when you think about the secondary, everyone but Jalen Ramsey is getting toast. If it's not Aaron Donald being able to create pressure, then they are getting pressured. If Bobby Wagner isn't running sideline sideline, being physical on the run, they're getting run through as well. And so for the Los Angeles Rams, it's about Raheem Morris figuring out how to get everyone playing together cohesively like we saw last year down the stretch and finding a way to slow down this Dallas cowboy offense that doesn't have to score a ton of points because

"88 for the Dallas Cowboys, you have to be the man. You are wide receiver one. And this is CD lamb's opportunity to step up with the Mario Cooper being gone and last night it was on full display. There was a drop early, but this is the anatomy of a number one wide receiver. Playmaker calls it the CD lamb drive. This is important. So fortune four, I'm playing against Wink Martindale, the defensive coordinator for the Giants. I know pressure's coming. So what I want to call is a play that's going to give me multiple options, RC. Number one, okay, tight end. I want you to be the crossing guy. Number two, we're going to call this a chair route where I want you to be the chair, one short in, two, and then the cross are okay. This is CDM and slot right now. Now the thing that stands out to me RC is this. I got what we call a cap slot. This slot defender playing RC right here. Why is that safety? Basically standing right behind him at ten yards. That's an alert. My biggest problem is this. First of all, he's trying to disguise, but he's not by capping darnay Holmes right away. The other part is, at the same day in the middle, you can't be sliding over because now Cooper rush understands he's getting a blitz. And darn it homes. Why are we looking in the backfield? You know, if I'm looking here and not thinking of man coverage, you should be looking at your guys. Not me. So when this pressure comes, I love the fact that CD lamb is so aware, RC. You're gonna see the pressure come come off the slot because he's staring at me, now look at this. This is great by CD lamb. I drew everybody at home. He's running that short in, right? Right. He sees that defender dropping. Don't run. Here's the other problem though. See, this line is not on the field, right? We don't get to see this. This is the sticks. There's no reason to disguise so much that you can't take care of your responsibility. I actually don't care if they know that I'm coming and then I'm gonna be on CD lamb. What I don't want is this type of space that allows a bang bang play where he can make the first dog. That's a great job by CD lamb scene what's going on in the inside and making sure we get the first down. Now I need a chunk. Now oftentimes chunks are the three levels. What we'll go post will go sail and some kind of flat route. Well, Kellen Moore is going to change it up. First of all, I want to take Tony Pollard and that's my problem. But that's the problem, right? As soon as Tony Pollard starts to move, someone that is that explosive, such a good player, it's going to attract attention. It's going to attract darn they homes. It's also going to take that's exactly what I want because I want to put him in motion, knowing that you're looking at him and instead of me creating that three level throw, obviously, I'm going to bluff out here. I'm going to send the bubble and then here comes this post. So post on the outside, bluff rail, and then that back in the flat, I've created that three layers. Listen to the rail, right? This guy's curl flatten curl flat. You're going to expand when he comes to the flat. And then you're going to take two through the zone, but you can't do that because we're going up right now to try to get a pile of that's a beautiful job of taking advantage of those guys on defense. Ball comes out there's that three level throw I got protection and then I get down to that one. Really good. It's very hard to scout a number one wide receiver. You don't necessarily know if people have what it takes. But I'm going to take you back to April of 2020 and it was April of 2020 where I knew that CD lamb was going to be one of the best in the league. Okay, this is the draft day party. Now look, right here. Look at the eyes and the poise of the eyes. Watch his eyes. He's looking down while keeping focus on the phone, understanding that I still have a conversation to take. Now, as the phone goes, boom, the phone is going, bam. Look how I take it. I know my peripherals, I'm seeing the phone with my left eye, right, I grab it with my left hand while still having the right one here. So where I'm on the phone with, they do not know that I'm going. All while I'm doing it with poise, knowing that cameras are there, knowing that there are so much that can be seen. My mama is sitting next to me. You gonna do this in front of my mom's? No, you are not. And so what happens is when you see these type of things, you realize it's not about the poise. It's not about the eyes. It was the left hand. It was the left hand of God that Jerry Jones once knew this 88 could be as good as the ADH we had seen once before. And listen, we've been critical of CD lamb. You got to be the number one guy. This is Dez Bryant. We got to have you. We're going to be a game winner. I need you to go make that big time catch. I'm going to put you by yourself, and I know Mena Khan loves a hates the goal line fade. But the only angel. This is the problem. Check this out. I wanted to pause it here. He reaches with his right hand. Right here, you see a Dory Jackson reaches with his right hand, which allows a suite and a swim through. If he doesn't replace right now with the left, there are separation created. That's a beautiful job by him of keeping that separation from a Dory Jackson. And you know what that is, RC? That is the legendary left hand. Of God. Not only will that hand save your bat phone, the hand will also save games. CD lamb, we knew you were legendary three years ago, now we see it on Monday Night Football. Man, that's what we call scouting right there. Doubted that out before we could have even known why it would matter. All right, let's get to dance lions who lost by four points to the Vikings to a last minute rally. Either way, Lions put up some great numbers offensively, averaging 32 points per game, but Marcus, why in an all those points out of that to win? Yeah, I think this is the psychological part of football, right? You hear a lot of people use the term no how to win. Finish games. And sometimes you have the capacity when you're a team that's not used to winning a lot of games, to think that you need to protect, protect, protect. When you get in a position and you have a lead when you're ahead, aggressive. Stay aggressive, Detroit Lions late in games, continue to keep your foot on the gas. And I know that Dan camel comes on television a lot of energy. He loves this team. These guys are playing great, but now it's time for the Detroit Lions to learn how to finish. And when these games, they were having a phenomenal game against the Minnesota Vikings. And late in that game, you can start to see them kind of creep in. Kirk Cousins made a couple of throws. They get in the end zone. And then you start seeing Detroit press and kind of become stagnant. Stay aggressive at the end of these games, go take your wins and don't try to preserve them. And I think once you get to that point, that's a team that knows how to win. Sunday was the lion's 7th loss by four or four points since the start of last season. That's the most in the NFL. They're so close. I'm gonna get there. Okay, still to come on NFL live with the Raiders starting off. Oh, and three. There's some concern in Vegas. Dan is gonna try to explain what's going on with Davante Adams and the Raiders offensively. The Raiders are at playoff caliber football team. This is an offensive coordinator's dream. Looking right. Car climbs a pocket hit. And he has dropped the ball this up, and the Chargers have it. He's hitting the point fumbled again. It's Murphy down the far sideline and the raiders lose at home in devastating fashion. The game is over the Raiders lose. They're the only winless team left. Yeah, they are. And all three of their losses have been by 6 or fewer points. A factor in those close losses has been the lack of connection between Derek Carr and Davante Adams late in games. Adams only has two receptions for a total of 15 yards in the fourth quarter and over time this season. I know you'd think that could put him over the edge. Here's what Adams had to say after the Raiders lost on Sunday. Frustrated and angry. I mean, it's not easy to win his league. So we know that and nobody's naive to the fact that it's not nobody's just gonna lay down and just give you a victory, but any day we expect more and we will do it better. RC, we heard your voice there at the beginning of the segment saying this offense should be an offensive coordinator's dream. And as we're just listening to that, you're like, I was wrong. Are you surprised though with the lack of connection between Derek Carr and devonta Adam? I'm absolutely surprised because we saw it in week one. In week one, it was instantaneous. We were like, oh, this is what it's supposed to be like. This is best friends playing together. People who understand the idiosyncrasies of what they both do. And we haven't seen that in the last two games. And my thing is this when you throw it to him, he wins. He's basically wins all the time. Most of the time, if devonte doesn't catch it, it's because you threw it back. And then when you have that type of player on your team and you don't utilize them, especially seeing that stat about what's going on late in the game for devonta Adams, that's something that can't happen and something that Josh McDaniels has to figure out because since the first game, it almost seems like he doesn't want people to say to him, you know what? You're targeting devonta more than everybody else. We don't want you doing it. All right, so the tape always are the defense always tells you where to throw the ball. The tape tells me that it looks like Derek Carr's purposefully trying not to throw the

"Thirty years ago this fall a law. Professor named anita hill testified about sexual harassment. At clarence thomas supreme court confirmation hearings now because of anita tells the real story of what happened. And what's changed. You'll hear from journalists witnesses and activists and listen in on the first public conversation between professor hill and dr christine lasi ford. That's because of anita a production of pineapple street studios and the media or out now wherever you get your podcasts video after the vikings beat the detroit lions dramatic fashion last second field goal fifty yards or whatever it was. So is mike zimmer. In kirk cousins on the sideline and the video goes viral. Because cousins goes. Up to mike zimmer and celebration like a aggressive celebration like grabs mike. Zimmer as adema zimmer sort of goes back with that same aggressive celebration but looks pissed off and he ends up pushing kirk cousins like as hard as again with this angry face on them and then was like. Yeah now i think they were definitely celebrating but part of me. Thinks like this was mike. Zimmer is opportunity to do it a kirk cousins. What he's always wanted to do which was to hit him yell out of them and push them but no is definitely a celebration. Now was one of my knockout. That i know that the lines record is what you are says you are ever But man they have played toughen every single one of these games and he's talking about a team that has a ton of injuries. They have a ton of injuries. And may dan campbell cry. It was such a heartbreaking loss on sunday campbell who had a lot of success as an assistant coach with new orleans and was around drew brees around great teams Guys like rob sala. Who was a great defensive coordinator for the san francisco. Forty niners hat great players. They went the super bowl. And the whole thing you realize just how hard it is to win weakened and week out in the nfl especially when you're roster is not that of some of these other teams that you're playing against it. I like matt. Ryan is the difference between the two teams. I mean he's the guy that is supposed to be good and he's supposed to be able to make plays and calvin ridley's on the field denny makes call pits into what he was yesterday nine catches one hundred nine hundred yards and a touchdown. I mean i mean that's why they drafted dang. I know but it. It felt like everybody knew going in. That was the guy that you had to pay attention to and accept the jets. I mean that's what was so frustrating back. You know what i just. I know that giant fans are livid and i know that they're they think that their team just stuck in neutral and going backwards and injuries and all that other stuff but sooner or later. Don't you just have to say somehow some way we have to remain consistent with what we believe in and we do believe that we can move. Forward is and i know internally. That's that's how you would like to think that they're thinking but really ultimately the business of football tells the owner something different and that's when the pam base becomes angry and that when the fan base doesn't believe any longer and it's coach in his gentleman that's when the fan base stops buying tickets and they stopped supporting the team and then the marketing department comes through the owners. Is you know we can't sell you. Know all these these sweets as a part of advertising promos because nobody's interested in your in your bad product. Yeah and that's usually what happens. That's how that's how guys end up losing their job will. This was the year though. I think are if you're john mara. Forget about what we thought because we were very high on them coming into the year. But if you're john mara he the loves joe judge. He loved the way they competed last year he saw team that was in almost every single game. That had an opportunity will be terrible division to go to the playoffs. He says okay. Here's a bunch of million dollars sign dory jackson. Here's a bunch of million dollars. Signed kenny. Gowdy here's a bunch of million dollars fill this whole and he does that and you come back that next year with higher expectations. Feeling like you are and you have trusted yourself. You have gone through it. And now you're sitting here one in four and everybody's decimated endangered in the winner for four games. It's like no you know what it is harsh every team and with the salary cap is built to be somewhere between seven and ten and ten and seven and then the other teams that have those superior quarterbacks that are playing all world can stay healthy in their defenses can somewhat stop the opposing team's. They'll have a chance to make it all the way to the playoffs. I mean josh. Allen is always use him and i use them as a team that basically had the same coach the same offense coordinator and the same defensive coordinator for all of josh ounce career since he got in buffalo and finally they are now the team the team in the afc. They have overtaken kansas city. At the moment you know. They are healthy on defense. Their quarterback is a dual threat. I he plays with You know now with the refinement that he didn't have the previous you know while he had it last year but he didn't have at the previous two years. You could see that they were building. But you know. I always go back to this to it. Goes back to the cowboys and dak prescott early on and dak prescott career. It was great that he was doing what he was doing. But the question still remain. Is he going to be the player that he's turned into today and there was a a probably a fifty fifty split within the cowboys that he was going to be the player that he is today. Yeah and that's why they held back on the contract and now the question that you have to answer yourself. Is daniel jones a guy that we saw last week the thing. I'll ask that later on the line yesterday for his team and try to lower his head and score frigging touchdown. Yeah the thing. I'll ask you though is was daniel jones ever as consistently good as dak prescott was when we were asking those questions. I would say that that prescott played with the best offensive line and football for many years at had a running back by the name. Hezekiah elliott that protected a lot of what he was doing but no the first couple of years. They weren't asking dak to do what he's doing today. And they have surrounded act with some really talented wide receivers that you know you get them the ball in their speed and you know just opens up holes down the field and i think they stuck with dak prescott. Even though they haven't had a lot of success with them you had but here's the thing all right so thirteen in three threes first year nine and seven ten six eight thousand eight all dak prescott. I would tell you better anus fourth year. Okay bud got hurt. And then he got hurt the next and now he's back. I mean so that thirteen and three season. I don't want to anyway anything away from his rookie year. But they had a great offense of line and a great running game and everything was basically predicated around him. By the way. Who's calling those plays. Well jason gary. Yes and all of a sudden jessica can't coach anymore. Yeah bob it. But he's cowboy team at thirteen and three a lot of things have got to go right and unfortunately for the giants now especially over the last three weeks maybe last week notwithstanding as so many freak injuries and you just lost basically four or five potential starters on your offense but i know and i mentioned before all of that is right. I just think if they end up with a five win season. That's those things are not those explanations are not going to cut it with the owner. Why a while the owner is another one. He's impatient. I mean them saying. But i mean you got to be realistic about the business. And you've got to be forget the business because the business those impact the onfield play. I mean you have to be realistic. About what the hell happened to them yesterday. And by the way tweak was right. The giants aren't on the same plane as the as the cowboys. Mainly because dak prescott is playing at.

"Family of podcasts. And today we obviously have a lot to talk about with the with the giants. Losing a gut. Wrenching heartbreaking whatever. You wanna call it gain to washington on thursday night as i wrote on big blue view friday morning. The giants snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Which obviously is is not something that that that's that's not an original statement but it absolutely fits. What happened to the giants on thursday night. This was a game that they had to win. We discussed that a number of times. It big lou view. They had to win this game. They had to avoid and owen to start for the eighth time. In nine years they had to do something to change all of the negative narratives that are circling around this football team as it continues to flounder at this point. Eighteen and forty eight over the last three plus seasons the worst record in football actually four plus seasons worst record in football since the beginning of the two thousand seventeen season last night was a chance for the giants to begin to turn the corner. Show that the past is the past and the future is brighter and the giants couldn't get that done. They had every chance to win this football game and simply couldn't take advantage of it. Daniel jones was maybe the best game. He's played for the giants since since coming to the team as the six as the sixth overall pick a couple of years ago at the very least you know the best game that he's played probably since his rookie season jones did everything last night. He threw the ball. Well he stood in the pocket. He protected the football. He made plays with his legs. He did everything humanly possible to try and win the giants of football game and the team around him and to be honest the coaching staff around him. Let the young man down and let the giants down to be honest. This is a game. The giants had so many opportunities. They obviously daria slate. And dropped a touchdown pass. They had several opportunities in the fourth. Quarter to score touchdowns that could have turned this into a to score game and made washington's task really really difficult in coming back. This was the biggest problem. I had with joe judge last night. Not just after the james bradberry interception right before the two minute mark where the giants chose to to be conservative and play for go ahead. Graham gano field goal but if you go back and look at the game there were three times in the fourth quarter including that last snowfield goal where the giants had opportunities to go for the jugular to go four touchdowns to really try and put washington away twice on fourth and fairly short inside the washington. Forty judge chose the long field goal. You thankfully graham gano made field goals from fifty two and fifty five yards. But in both of those instances you can easily argue that the giants could have and should have gone for the first down gone for the touchdown tried to put washington away. They didn't do it. And they wound up. Losing a heartbreaking game of course. No one feels worse about this loss than than dexter lawrence who inexplicably inexcusably unforgivably. Whatever you want to say jumped offside on what should have been the final game winning play for the giants which was a forty eight yard. Missed field goal by dustin hopkins. That of course gave hopkins a second chance and hopkins of course made that kick to to send the giants home from landover maryland with with a bitter bitter defeat. But you you talk about mistakes. Talk about lack of discipline. These are all things that judge has preached for two years. And yet you know. Physical mistake dropped like darius slate and had that's going to happen but a mental mistake like lawrence's is something that that judge has preached about those things ever since taking the job nearly two years ago now and the giants still make those mistakes. There's there's an absolute reason why the giants have gone eighteen in forty eight eight in the last you know four plus seasons and it's because they do things like last night it's because they don't make the plays when they're there to be made when you know when it's time to to win games. They don't get things done that are needed to win. Football games and and you know last night was more evidence that that at this point anyway. Things have still not changed for the floundering new york. Giants major major concern for me on defense where the giants simply have not had any answers through two games. you know patrick grams. Group had had no pass rush last night. No answers for terry maclaurin. No answers for covering the middle of the field. Gave up long touchdown drives at the end of the first half gave up the league twice in the fourth quarter including not being able to get a stop on washington's drive four. What ended up being the game. Winning field goal. This defense is supposed to be the backbone of this football team to this point has not been so to. This point has been a huge question. Mark a huge disappointment through two games. There are obviously fifteen games to go but right now what you see from this defense has to be a big big concern because it's vastly underperformed expectations through the first two games of the season half to have to talk about something else that that big view contributor. Chris flom brought up with me early on friday morning. And that's the fact that that you know many many of the giants big-name contributors many of these guys that they brought in you know to be impact players. Just haven't done that yet. James bradbury on thursday night got absolutely toasted by terry mcchord of washington. You know. I know that bradberry has a nice. You know pro. Football focus grade but to me. That's misleading mc. Oran had eleven catches in fourteen targets hundred seven receiving yards and most of that was with bradberry trying trying in vain to stop him in coverage was simply a mismatch disappointing. That patrick graham didn't go to a dory jackson to try to cover mcsporran or do something different in bracket maclaurin do something to to really try and help bradberry..

"New york's defense kind of a day. It was a teddy bridgewater kind of day. But the giants have speed. Let me go actually front to back leonard. Williams is a monster in their three four. Dexter lawrence can really play blake. Martinez is really underrated. I think sometimes as a linebacker who can really make plays who is really smart and can run the rookie that they drafted from georgia jewelry in the second round looked really good when he was out there. And then you get to their secondary bradberry and A dory jackson or the corners peppers and ryan are the safeties. Now they play This guy darnay homes number thirty a lot In nickel but all of these guys can run. All of these guys can cover and then peppers in logan in particular were used in multiple safety blitzes. I think and. I don't know because i didn't count but i'm gonna guess that. Fifty percent of their of the dropbox bridgewater faced five or more rushers and they were almost getting there all night long. It was so close. They didn't you got to close the deal But i think they've got very good team speed. And i think they play very urgently and i think that it's a pretty good defense and it will prove out to be a pretty good defense if it stays healthy. That's always a key. The weakness of the giant team is it's offensive. Line and von miller made nate solar. Really pay in this game. Andrew thomas is there left tackle. Nate solar was starting right. Tackle thomas of course was picked after the giants won that game against washington. Washington got the to pick in the draft and took chase young and the giant settled with. What was it the fifth. Pick an andrew. Thomas all based on the result of that game at the end of the twenty thousand nineteen season I thought their offensive line wasn't horrendous. It is von miller of course he had two sacks multiple pressures and Daniel jones Was under pressure. A ton in this game. I would say in watching what von miller did that. Chase young in montana sweat. One of the two has to step up big time big time in this game. It's time like daniel jones can really hurt you with his legs. Taylor heineke ken to similarities between the two quarterbacks tomorrow night but von miller owned nate solder. They had so many issues dealing with von miller. He's one of the best. He's one of the best ever if our pass rushes what we think it is. If these two young players are what we think they will be. And i think they're going to be special but it's time to get home and really disrupt daniel jones who has carved this team up over his career. All right he has the In his In his four games against washington daniel jones has thrown ten touchdown passes. He has thrown three picks. Some of you believe that he hasn't had any turnovers against washington. He's throwing three interceptions against washington and he's fumbled three times. They just haven't lost any of those fumbles. It's time to make daniel. Jones look like the daniel jones against other teams Not what daniel jones has been against. Washington and von miller certainly made him uncomfortable I thought kenny golladay in his first game with the giants. Look pretty good. They played cadaverous tony very little. He he had cova he. He's been working his way back into shape. I'm kyle rudolph's on their team now they don't have an ingram For the game tomorrow night And barkley who as we know has torched washington his last two games against washington. Fourteen carries one hundred and seventy yards in basically a half if you recall at the end of that twenty eighteen season when they lost forty two fourteen or whatever it was it was like thirty five to nothing at half. I'm fourteen carries one hundred seventy yards in that game and then in the game in which they won an overtime forty one to thirty five to gain. The danny jones threw five. Touchdown passes in saquon barkley. Twenty two carries one hundred. Eighty nine yards four Four catches ninety yards. Pretty damn impressive. Now he does not and did not the other day. Look like the saquon barkley. It's going to be probably a slow re entrance And short turnaround probably helps washington. A no probably see a lot of devante booker. i'm assuming tomorrow night but barkley all play and they limited barclay on sunday and he came out of it and he said he's feeling good sore but good but he has been limited in practice this week. Lastly before we get to brad edwards I just wanted to read this tweet. That i got from christie. Christie tweeted This morning When i was telling everybody what i had seen watching the giants game just observations. Why are you talking. So much about the giants. Why are you building up. The giants were the reigning division champs. They haven't been to the playoffs since two thousand fifteen i'd look that up That is kind of amazing that the giants haven't been to the postseason since the twenty thousand fifteen season Look i'm not building up the giants telling you what i observed and i. I said before the season that i think the giants and philadelphia better than most of you think they are And i don't know if i'm going to be right or wrong. But but they've got players. They've got really good players on defense in particular their issue. Philadelphia's is you know the quarterback do they have the quarterback I think in the giants case to they certainly are flawed along their offensive line But this this notion that washington's the division champ in that they're somehow a big difference between washington and the giants are washington and philadelphia. Your out of your mind. This is a toss up game in terms of the players on both sides. This is a coin flip game the line reflects that if it were played on a neutral field. They would have it as a pick him. Game washington gets three three and a to get three points for being the home team. The the giants beat washington last year twice the division champ. Washington hasn't won a game against new york. Since twenty eighteen leonard williams and dexter lawrence and blake martinez and james bradberry and logan ryan and djibril. Peppers are really good players. I'm not saying that they're a playoff team or that. They're a double digit win team. I'm not saying that what i am saying. Is that there equivalent to washington. This is a toss up game. These thursday games get sideways and weird..

"There's just so many questions heading into this game on the implementation of these new offense of weapons of the giants have yet like how many titans are the giants even going to have available. We've got rudolph coming back from the foot injury. He seems like he's going to be available. Active he could be there leading tight end. Cadence smith popped up on the injury report this week. We know evan. Ingram is dealing with a calf. He was a long shot to play. I'm not counting on him. Suiting up i think the giants might be targeting next week against washington you know. Have him available for the divisional match up there against this secondary. I think that could be another reason. Why the giants look to lean on their running game and maybe in the passing game. Go to quick pass to the running back. Maybe try to attack the two linebackers. They have their josie jewel end a barren browning the rookie yet. That could be really the only exploitable or easily explainable weakness. In this broncos defense overall though this is going to be a really really well coached group and It it's just a defensive minded team because vic fangio so they'll that's one thing that you just immediately have to factor in. Is that the priority on this roster seems to have been since fangio took over is defense. So they're going to be a strong team. I have an interesting question oppose guys before we wrap with the different hypothetical. But which do you guys think has the better matchup. The giants receivers against the broncos secondary or the broncos receivers against the giants secondary. I'm going to just say with into the context of the preseason. The overall health of the units. In everything i would say. The broncos receivers have a have the bit better matchup against the giant secondary got dory jackson coming off the ankle injury. The broncos receivers. They're starting receiver's got more or a lot more work in the preseason. So they might. You've more ready to start quickly and the giants kenny. Golladay didn't get a whole lot of work. Canarias tony He didn't hardly get any work this summer. So it's basically sterling shepherd and dairy sleekness guys who had who had the most work the most experienced the most the most recent football also say and then you've got that rebuilt secondary. There's not a whole lot of tape on these guys going together. There is some tape on the giants secondary. So i don't think either. Receiving core is going to have it easy but the broncos receivers might have it a Just a fraction less hard. Yeah i would. I tend to agree with everything you just said. Chris i mean just because you have a lot of. I don't wanna say uncertainty with the giants Coming back from injuries but just a lot of guys missed assault on a time whereas it seems like other than no offense did tight end. for the broncos. The skill position players for the broncos have been pretty healthy through training camp fans looking like he's going to play just dealing with a lower body injury at the moment. So i'm going to have to say that and that's not a referendum whatsoever on the giants who is still remain high on or or the giants receivers for that matter or the giants receivers exactly within the context of this game. That's how that's how things shake out. At least my is also wondering how pat shurmur wants to utilize jerry. Judy because you lined up about a third of the slot snaps or he mind about third of his snaps in the slot last year. And that's a. That's something that i can see them trying to exploit its darnay. Homes continues to kind of struggle a little bit which could lead to. Julian love for placing dr name homes. The chess match game is going to be interesting. Also wonder how shurmur is gonna use guys like caja handler. Who really explosives smaller type of player mean you have tim patrick i know his name is all that exciting but it just seems like that guy produces every time he gets on the field and no one really ever talks about them so then they got. They got a plethora weapons over there. That's true know bringing jerry judy up as a slot you know. We saw dallas with cd. Lamb him yep basically bursting onto the scene as a slot receiver. I don't think anybody really looked at him as a slot receiver in the draft year. So that i think is something to keep an eye on. Especially as we're seeing teams moving their best receivers into the slot. You even mike evans. With the buccaneers was getting snaps in the slot last year. That's just scary. If you're a a slot corner so just a hypothetical question here to to wrap us up and close us out. You know of of four guys on the broncos roster the ones that we've highlighted here jerry. Judy bradley chubb garrels patrick ser tan and we want to include justin simmons in this. Because you're down here chris. Do we want to include them or just the four guys mentioned i know either so it's hard to not include one of the one of the best safety justin simmons out of those players. Who would we want on this giants roster if we could steal one of these guys to become a new york giant who would we want and i i'm just gonna come out and say i'd rather have bradley chubb out of any of these guys because one thing that the giants are still lacking i think is a little bit of juice as a pass rusher. I know that we have high expectations for social ari but man if they had bradley chubb that defense would be scary. If you had a player of that caliber. So that's where i'm standing. I'm going with with bradley trouble. This one i mean you can knock pick whatsoever. You cannot any of these pigs. I think they would all be really really solid answers for right now. Man i lean towards. I lean towards bowls just to think he's the best player out of these four. You actually might be the fourth best player but you have to look at the giants situation at the context of the offensive line in the question. Mark you have at right tackle and possibly left tackle andrew. Thomas doesn't develop clean up some of the mistakes that he's made. I still remain optimistic on andrew thomas but it has to be shown to me at the same time..

"All honesty. And i hate. We've been doing a lot of nonsense on the show. I apologize to. Mike worked out. Mike's gotten mike's gotten a little bit. Bigger this off season and progress. I need a little bit more high net shirt. If i hear you mike you in field both bulk. And i i love it. Love to see it talking. Susan i'm literally falcons six feet in front of you. I am aware. Oh well you know what daniel the. Here's the thing is we. We all love daniel. We can't talk about his physique too much because daniel already has so much going for him that he can rocket canadian tuxedo and apathy own it. If i walked around with daniel style i would be doing would have zero confidence dangerous. Swag it's just. It's just tux denim on denim. I just. I like doing the denim day field. And i change in tomorrow tomorrow as we always do tomorrow. Focus functioned friday for focus. So we're gonna do that. Sure you send in your fund shirts if you take any pictures on twitter. You're going to work. We'd love to see him hashtag. Funded friday hash. We made a lip right now. All right matchup downgrades time. Let's begin in a game. That i think is really interesting for a lot of different reasons. The giants and in the broncos so we know the top cornerback. Our new york i think is there still some uncertainties running a dory jackson's availability for sunday. I think he'll by on vacation. He's going right. I mean that's last. I heard my expectation in this analysis. Is that'll be playing in this game. Look when dave gentleman got to new york he said. I'm gonna fix this offensive line. We believe in it more than you do. We're going to. We're going to get it right and then you just spending on cornerback. So i mean it's not good for the offense alliance might be worse than the nfl. But it is good for their perimeter quarterback situation which i love what they've done honestly at that spot the last two years james. Bradberry terrific pick-up last year shadowed throughout last season was one of the better in the business in that department and they bring in a door jackson who again to your point you know miss a lotta time. Last season with the injury a bit when he came back with he didn't play much previous years he was one of the league's better corners. Guy still young. He's super talented and again they're going to have the perimeter locked down. So what does that mean this week. They played denver cortlandt sutton when we last saw in two thousand nine hundred eighty percent of the time last year jerry. Judy was outside sixty eight percent of the time. So that's where they run most of their routes yes. The giants could choose. Shadow is jackson and bradbury. Do have a history of doing that. It doesn't really matter either way. You have a good corner facing a talented wide receiver. It is downgraded matchup makes me a little leery of them as wide receiver. Three flex options. Probably your best flex play. I would guess based on the fact that you're just coming out of your draft but it is it is a tricky match up so perhaps the best advice here is if you have a close option. Go that way maybe. Hold off a week on using these guys and reminder of where that going into the season healthwise very yeah. He looks really good. Obviously injured week to towards acl and mc l. We got to chance to see them in the preseason making that really nice plant and cut to the inside on that reconstructed acl and it really that to me was a signal of him gaining that confidence in his knee which is one of the really the biggest challenges for player. Who's coming off a major injury like that is. Can you do it when you actually are up against opposing defenders and. He showed there that he could. You know. I think he'll get better as the season goes on as he gets more plays. It takes more hits. He's going to be somebody who continues to improve but really liked portland sutton this year. Okay makes two of us to like portland citing all right one. More here mike. We've talked about how the vikings defense last year really not good. Apparently that has changed. Yeah no question. Six most fantasy points to receivers your fourth most to the perimeter so receivers again lined up on the outside. I don't care oh care about that. You know why because it's a completely different. They're gonna have almost all new starters guys that were injured last season guys that opted out. They have three nude interior defensive lineman and they're all really good players including michael peer sheldon. Richardson alvin tomlinson. Danila hundred play last year. It's going to get you some edge pressure ever griffin's back to so you got the team back together on the edge Anthony barness almost all of these air. Kendrick missed about a month late in the season. They're back That's a really good unit safety. You have harrison. Smith back brian xavier rosa's the other option and then corner is completely new. I mean they were just desperate last. You're trying to find guys. The place natural neighboring and patrick peterson who come off a rough year. But i mean you're talking about arizona when it was the heaviest offense in the league a lot of pressure on him. I think he'll be fine. In this. mike zimmer offense if cameron dancer back from last year on the perimeter and they already allowed the fewest fantasy points to the slot last year. Neighboring and mackenzie alexander. Who's a pretty good slot corner. He was very good. Minnesota didn't work out in cincinnati but is a good player so all in all a much better defense. I think it's a top five defense in the nfl on paper. Believe it or not. They're playing cincinnati. Higgins to march as tyler boyd. I think we have to downgrade all of these guys. Honestly a really jamaa chase probably going to be limited out of the gate right. I mean he was just sounds like it. Sounds like between has confidence need to be built up as we know he struggled drops row training camp. He's he's one of the harder players to grade rank going into this week. Yeah so t higgins. He's higgins is underpriced. Dfs oh he's still an option for you but just lower expectations a little bit. You're still starting same thing with tyler boyd. But yeah chase. Think you stay away from this week. the saying. He's struggling seeing the ball right. Because ed in colleges the white stripes on it right and then the pros at doesn't and he said it's harder to catch might take a little time for him to get going. Don't be surprised if we see a little more out in tate than usual here in week one. who's the best fourth wide receiver in the nfl. Like he could be a starter somewhere at least close to it. I want to detroit. I'm sorry i just want to disagree with you there. I think tim patrick is the best fourth wide receiver in the nfl. That could be true. That's good point. Those are the to clear him and on tate. I think when they've been given time on the field like they both looked really nice. Both are very good. Good call right there by daniel. Dopp all right. Let's get to our board bets. Which brought to you by geico and whether you rent or own your home head on over to geico dot com geico easy for you..

"He was the best pass. Rusher there was courses about his knees. They're taking a calculated risk. But if you put him next to leonard williams which is next to lawrence. They have a formidable. You'll lie in secondary is probably one of the best seconds. But we're not talking about a dory. Jackson bradberry no outside. Can you ask for to better. Safeties logo ryan and peppers. I don't think you can and blake. Martinez is a tackling machine. So all the recipes are there for them to be able to win ugly and be able to win in shootouts because of the because of the way that they're constructed now can they put it all together. That's joe judge job. Can they put about altogether. That's daniel jones job. So daniel jones going to sink or swim based on his ability to take care of the football. He doesn't have to be more himself. He has to actually be less and i think they're going to put less on his shoulders because they have better supporting casseroles and you have saquon barkley. Who really is you know a multifaceted abilities. Plus yes. Plus the addition of the addition of the return of several other pieces on that offense jordan on who covers the giants or. Espn was with greeny and he did talk about this coming season for daniel jones but he talked about was really more what we've seen in the off season so far from him and how difficult it is to evaluate. It's hard to gauge where the giants offense is right now because if you think about it there's no saquon he's back today right right with he's gonna do a little bit. You have no kenny golladay. You just got back. Kyle rudolph's that. He's not really in my drills yet and various tony's much of anything you got here so that's pretty much. Everyone they added. That's just so when you look at it. Who's on the field with daniel. Did all the offense is on the field every day at training camp. Is the offense finished thirty first in the league last year. See that's a support you've got understand. We haven't seen him in pre. We haven't really seen much of him at all. And there's a lot of curiosity about what he's going to be this year. It's a big year for him on many levels huge right give him but it does impact though it's like the first domino of whether or not this is going to be a good season for the giants which think yeah but at least one thing i can say is that offense blind has been working together right. An office of line is being put in a worse case. Scenario right no saquon barkley. So they don't have a special player back there. No kenny gallaudet tony. Rudolph so like they're playing and being put in a most the toughest position they're going they're going to play a preseason game right and they're going to go against the opposing team. They're not going to have the guys they're gonna depend on so this is going to make this office line. Half the communicate had to figure things out then all the sudden their job is going to get easier opposed to vice versa. Right opposed to having everybody. Then lose rudolf in the season. You lose kenny gala. Date will what are we without these guys. then a worst case scenario. They're playing without any of their horses. They're practicing without any of their horses. Their job is only gonna get better and you listen. I believe soldiers is going to be a much better player than what he was. And i think you're right. I think it's gonna take off all play that he's playing right tackle. I think thomas is going to be a much better player. He played tremendous much better for the second half of the season. I liked the fact that they're having to deal with at bercy. I much rather not have people that. I'm dependent on early on and then have them added than have them the whole time and it had to learn how to adjust to play with a practice without the giants start on september twelfth home against the denver broncos and then they've got at washington so right away a big test for them against a division opponent right now and the goodyear hotline former giant super bowl champion. Shaun o'hara joins us sean. Good morning how you doing man. Eight top of the morning to you. Both allen bart how we doing. We're good i. I asked this question once if you can finish this for me as well. The giants failed to make the playoffs. This season what happens after the season. Oh great question. Well look. I hope nobody i. I don't think anybody in this area hopes that that happens But no doubt about it. I mean there's there's gotta be some decisions made and people have to figure out. I mean i. I don't think joe judges is in any trouble. I think he's a really good coach. I think that they love the direction that he's bringing the team You know obviously you know. John mayer has come out and said look you know we feel like this is a playoff caliber team. They spent a ton of money off season to build the roster and went out and got kenny golladay and brought in You know Tight end from colorado from from minnesota So you know they. They definitely have spent some money. Defensively they paid logan ryan and pay james bradberry. So you feel like. They're building towards that playoff-caliber team and you know i think when it doesn't work out you know the In this business you know..

"Had a much better day on defense much better coverage couple of pass breakups by sam bill. Couple of pass breakups by road dairies williams. At least one by james bradberry interesting note on the defensive side of the ball with a dory jackson out after suffering his ankle injury on wednesday. It was rookie row derrius williams who stepped into the lineup as the starting cornerback opposite bradberry. Don't know how that's going to play out over the next few weeks in what will happen. If jackson is not available week one but right now looks like plan a option a to To replace jackson is williams the rookie sixth round. Pick out of oklahoma state. Who has had a really really impressive training camp or a giants fans. The giants will return to new jersey for a short practise on friday brief. Walk through more. Or less which i would assume. This is what that practice will be sort of a recovery day and then the giants will be at metlife stadium on sunday evening to complete the preseason against the against these same new england patriots than roster cuts are coming on tuesday. Please stay tuned to biglou view dot com for all of your giants coverage will. Have you know we'll have roster predictions coming up. We'll have cuts will have trades on. Anything that.

"He basically hasn't had any kind of a work. This route Training camp and the preseason. So i think josh even with the calf injury he is still probably their best bet. And there's also. Sam bill maher is sambo that is that is a point to bring up in literally if if these injuries keep mounting in the secondary madre harper. He's somebody who was dinged up in the game. It doesn't seem as serious as somebody like. Quincy wilson who was put on the i r. at the two interceptions against the jets in the browns but as much as we got a crash on on deal podcast ago. I mean he might have to make this team if these injuries. Keep mounting the secondary. And we'll have to wait and see. What exactly is going on with dorie jackson before we come to that conclusion. Then we have kion cross onto. Who is more of a special teamer. I don't. I don't into his film extensively at the quarterback position. I watch a lot of this film as a special teamer. But he's another name just to kind of throw out there who's probably going to be a body that is healthy in the secondary that can play cornerback which almost kind of a That's an important. Trait is having a body and being healthy doesn't okay. It almost worked out perfectly though. The josh jackson trade in a way that the it for a week ago and i know he's not the most ideal player to put out there. They signed dory jackson for a reason because he's significantly more talented and was the one of the best available guys that they could get to play that second corner spot. But josh jackson has experienced he has. The talent hasn't necessarily lived up to that talent but he's probably their best bet right now i think i i don't know i can't really point to anybody else. The rest of those options that you guys brought up. They don't really sound that great. I wouldn't be too disappointed. If josh jackson is the guy that if hypothetically dorie jackson isn't available week one if they have to go out there with josh jackson again the experience for me as long as he has that. It's it's not a horrendous option. For me i think my go-to option would be julian love. I think there's another one if you get. Julian love on the field. 'cause you know. The giants like to to use a lot of big nickel dime lot of three safety sets. Borough peppers logan ryan xavier mckinney. Jillian love is kind of that lost piece that you can utilize sometimes in the in the safety room. But as a cornerback. He'd be out there much more often. Now that's what he played in college. It's not an ideal position in the nfl at least up to this point but he has shown the ability to do so. i think he's very versatile. I think he's an underrated player. I think he's a player that we don't really talk about enough as the giants fan base. Which just kind of guy. He's he's solid. He's okay but i do think he's a a good football player that if he's pigeonholed into the cornerback role. He can do that too. A solid level. Probably maybe even better than isaac guide at least down the stretch of the season. That's kind of what we saw now. It was against the browns. When james bradberry wasn't there was against the cowboys in week. Seventeen where he made a couple of really nice place and he is somebody who is really really good run support. And that's what this. Patrick graham vivement loves they love or cornerbacks with spill everything outside the cornerbacks who have to run support. Julian love is excellent in that in that regard yet and i would say the with. Julian love the number of different hats. That he can wear he can play in the slide. He can play out wide. He has had experience from college at notre dame. He has transitioned to the safety. He's played in the box. He's played that free safety position. That i think would work well with the types of coverage rotations. That patrick graham loves to do where maybe you have. It's a zone. Look on that side of the field where julian loved drops into deep zone. Darnay homes drops into more of a shallow zone from the slot position. And yet they're playing a nickel or dime look and they more or less just kind of patchwork a coverage shell together while they're waiting for door jackson to come back and like we said before we don't know as we're sitting here recording this the severity of the injury. We don't know if it's a low ankle sprain. We don't know if it's a high ankle sprain. Hopefully he does not need surgery. Hopefully there are no torn ligaments or anything like that in there. We're going to have to wait to find out about that one. I almost forget sometimes about julian love and his availability. So that's actually a really good point. I'm so used to thinking of him as a safety but that actually is really smart to point out that if they really needed to julian love available you could ask them to make that transition for a period of time until you get back dory jackson that is also not a horrible option and frankly i mean is against him. Last year was not very good. So it's not like you can go much further downhill from what we saw from yatta in a number of games last season for the giants coming up. Oh actually we got one more thing before the ad break that we need to quickly hit on here. Denver broncos announced the starting quarterback for one. You're going to be starting teddy bridgewater. The player that they traded for before the draft from the carolina panthers last season he was the panthers starting quarterback before they decided to move on and trade for sam darnold so this battle between him and drew lock. We have a decision. We now know that it is teddy. Bridgewater we'll probably spend a little bit more time in the week leading up to the giants first game against the broncos talking about the significance of this but just are quick thoughts on teddy bridgewater. Going out there is the starting quarterback. Would we think. I personally think i would have rather seen drew lock now. It's going to one of those floor. Ceiling type of debates. I think teddy bridgewater has a higher floor than drew lock but drew lock probably has a higher ceiling than teddy bridgewater. And when you think of a younger type of quarterback wasn't seen as many defenses was been prone to mistakes similar to daniel jones only feel like jones is a little bit of a better prospect. Unlock doesn't have the as lively of an arm as drew lock. But i would have liked to see him. Go against patrick grams. Unique defense i think graham scheme a lot of different trap. Pepe defenses kind of baited. Lock into a lot of different mistakes whereas teddy bridgewater he seen a little bit more. He's a little bit more He's a little bit better at just judging defenses and it better with his risk management is what i would say so. I don't know if there's going to be as many mistakes. teddy bridgewater. Probably keep pat shurmur offense on script whereas drew lock isn't a certainty to do that. So i would have rather seen lock even though he has that higher upside just because i think he would have been prone to more mistakes yet. I think it really comes down to what perspective you have from. Giants perspective drew. Lock can hurt you. He is a good athlete. He has that really big arm yet. He his peaks are higher than what you're going to get from teddy bridgewater however valleys are also a hell of a lot lower. Yeah he is not a or has not been terribly efficient quarterback he will make mistakes he will give your he will give your defense opportunities to create turnovers he will..

"And we'll see what happens. And yes, one more time. I do not need to be impartial, Jerry Hughes. I hope that's not the Jerry used that plays for the book. If he's watching, he can say whatever he wants, I'm honored. This is an opinion based show. This is a take space program. In case you didn't know how podcasts or sports radio works, we come on here and we give our opinions about what we see and what we feel about this team. This is not the 5 o'clock news. So thank you. Can I well it's not 5 o'clock news. It's on at 6 o'clock. Can I give you, all right, you're gonna talk about Nikhil. I'll throw one out here. And I don't entirely know what this player's situation is. Cross Jackson. Is Josh Jackson no, did I get that right? Yeah, Josh Jackson is a corner for the Giants. They just acquired him via trade from the Green Bay. Yeah. Okay. So he had really good college date, more of a guy than a man guy, but yeah, good. But he's a big physical corn. He's like, he looks like the Patriots kind of corner. The Giants don't have tremendous cornerback depth, but I don't think he's a starter. 'cause they have a Dory Jackson who's gonna be ahead of them and James Bradbury should be ahead of him too. I would think. So he, again, I'm looking at this very briefly. I'm obviously not down there, giants, camp every day. Right. He kind of seems like he's in a similar position where Nikhil is now the difference is they just traded for. So they clearly have a purpose for him to kiel once out of New England. I don't know that they'd move him, but I didn't even realize he was on the Giants. I just looked at that. He's a guy I really liked coming out of Iowa. I really thought would be a patriots kind of corner. I know you said he's his own guy, but just the way he manhandles receivers at the lines at the line, you can't help but see patriots. So can you get traded twice the one off season? Weird things have happened. So he went to Iowa, right? So Iowa, second round pick in 2018 the packers. Yeah, no, I appreciate it. Oh, he got traded like a week ago. Yeah. He's really watching his watching his tape. He's probably everything about it. Really good ball Hawkins own coverage, Iowa is a really zone heavy team. A lot of teams in college are really zone heavy. So there's not a whole lot of teams, Bama, Georgia, maybe a couple of teams in the Ohio State region that played true man to man, right? So I don't know. It's not a, it's not exactly a systemic fitness, early, but I love the skill set. It's a stylistic fit. Although I he's traded on August 17th. So that's right. I think that's literally a week ago. A week ago today, so I don't know if he's somebody you can get, but I like him for the Patriots. I do. So we'll see. Okay, I like it. Just look at the Giants roster. Look for other people that the Patriots might be interested in, whether it's the Giants or it's the eagles..

"Next preseason matchup which will be against the cleveland browns before we get to that though. We obviously need to cover all these moves. There's a lot of stuff going on for the giants and teams crossed the league. The first move that popped up. This week was a trade for cornerback. Kion crossing a seventh round pick was dealt to bring in crofton primarily special teamer and this move was a bit interesting and odd to me for a number of reasons. Chris because the giants as we've talked about a lot are probably deepest at corner right now or you could say defensive. Line but one of the deepest positions is cornerback is their secondary. They've spent draft capital over multiple years at the corner position. They also signed dory jackson. They also have some guys that are improve it type situations so then bringing in cross in was a little bit odd to me because it doesn't really fit what they need right now. They don't really need to be making trades to add depth at corner you would think you would be at offensive line or some other positions that appear to be weak. Yeah i have to assume. Crossing was acquired for his special teams ability. He was drafted by the new england patriots. Back in twenty eighteen. He knows joe. Judge joe. judge knows him. He's primarily ben a special teamer since he's been in the league. He has played on on the defense. Some i believe specifically with texans. I don't know that he got onto gowns field on defense with the patriots now. He's kind of an undersized guy. I think he's about five eight five nine one eighty one eighty five ish in that in that range so if he gets on the field it will probably be in the slot but he his. He's going to be competing for a job as a special teams player. I kind of have to guests at this point that it was the injury to tj brunson. That really motivated the giants to go out and get another special teams guy because brunton yes. He caused the fumble in the game against the jets but his value was going to be on special teams. So i really think that crossing is He should have an st next to his name with a bull slash db. 'cause he's going to be a special teams player i you that's really the the primary emphasis here and part of the reason why i'm saying it was the bit odd of a decision. The giants don't really need a corner and they also we're going to get to the other move. That happened this week that even solidifies where cross and fits into the picture of this roster. This is really a special teams depth. Move i don't even know if he's a lock or guaranteed to make the roster just because they traded he seventh round pick for him. There is a level of familiarity there with him previously being under joe judge when they were with when he was with the patriots. But you know this guy that works hard on special teams. That is going to bust his butt. You lose. tj brunson. Who was likely going to fight for a roster spot as a special teamer two different physical body types that you're going to get with these two different guys put still. This is really really mostly just a special teams move in the other moves that they made i guess is more of a cornerback based move. I can't even really fully. I can't even fully really figure out what they're doing with with some of these decisions in these trades. They made this week. And the other one that i'm referencing. Chris is the swap that they made for isaac. Yana sending is got him to the packers and then going and getting former second round. Pick josh jackson now jackson during his draft year. Some thought he was the number one corner in his class. That doesn't end up being how he slotted in selected alexander ends of going before him to the packers. We know how good alexander is. Josh jackson has never lived up to that hype. And here we are with an underwhelming corner swapped for an underwhelming corner this one more than the cross in trade confuses me as well because again. They've got quality depth. They're not perfect but they're going and getting a guy who's been pretty underwhelming in his career. Thus far i would also argue with crossing. I don't think this is a guy that's guaranteed to make the roster yada was on the bubble and is a guy who potentially wasn't going to stick around and we're bringing in another guy who is on the bubble in his potentially not going to stick around. Yeah this one to me. Is the confusing bit. Yeah i see back in two thousand eighteen. Why teams would or could fall in love with josh jackson. He had a ton of production that year or that previous year at iowa. He had great ball production. He had some of the best hand of any corner in his draft class in. He's a former wide receiver. And i noted in a scouting report. He plays the ball in the air like a wide receiver. The promise he just never really translated it to the nfl. You started ten games as a rookie. He was o k basically. He was a rookie corner without a whole hell of a lot of experience at cornerback and then he just regressed badly. High started two games over the next two years. He played in twenty six. And just even this year is basically kind of a widely anticipated among packers writers. Packers fans that jackson was going to be gone after the first preseason game. He struggled that badly. So i don't know if this was a case where the giants. They had fond memories of jackson from that draft class. You know they. They really liked him. He was high on their board end. They found out about the opportunity to acquire him so they had a corner. They probably weren't going to keep around. The packers had a corner. They weren't really gonna keep around so they just made the trade straight up at maybe trying to thinking they can get something out of him. You know maybe they can unlock that.

"Pennsylvania and other legal sports betting online states where you could potentially have a cash-out option The other team. I've bet the long shot to win the division. This is the division where. I'm taking a shot at a long shot to win it and it's the giants at plus four fifty to win this division. If i look at you know what this team was last year under a first year head coach in first year coaching staff. Now it was one of the worst divisions in the industry of the nfl but the giants were competitive and they came within a game of winning this division last year and ney. Now bring back saquon barkley at some point. It may not be week one. But that is a massive weapon to add. They added ken golladay in free agency. That is a massive help for daniel jones to be comfortable in the passing game. They spent a first round pick on vertical threat. And a joystick type. In cadaverous tony so he has gotten all the help he needs I believe nate. Solder is gonna return after sitting out for cova last year. So that's that's not a move in the wrong direction for their offense of line. Although i still have offensive line questions at but then on the defensive side. They were strong defensively. Last year they had a decent pass rush. I really like what they've done with the secondary they have a shutdown corner and james bradberry. They got some help on the other side in signing dory jackson so and this is a team that was pretty competitive in the division as well last year so the question is is obviously daniel jones the quarterback but i think they've surrounded him with enough weapons where it's not gonna be as glaring this year if they're balanced whereas the cowboys have massive issues on defense washington won the division last year. But i mean. We're still talking about ryan fitzpatrick. Can they survive with him and they are going to have a quarterback. At least at least both quarterbacks are going to take first team reps or the reports taylor heineke. He's going to get some reps there for washington so it's not impossible that he's the starter and obviously eagles have very old roster now. This is the team that i took a flyer at one hundred twenty five to one to win the super bowl. Because i don't see a team that that is rebuilding. They've spent the very little cap money. They've had this year after being in capital to bring on new players. And bring on some immediate contributer steven nelson the most recent cornerback who was solid a couple years ago and it could be a good number two quarterback now at one hundred and twenty five to one to actually win the super bowl. No but it's almost for me like buying stock low in these markets where you have cash out options and i do think that they are in. Play four shawn watson if all this cleans up on the legal side and the civil side with shawn watson because they have shown signs of still wanting to compete this year and not going straight into rebuilding mode very little cap space. That they had they could have used that for next year. Any extra cap space. You have this year you can roll over into next year and they chose not to do that. They brought back an old center. And jason kelsey. They use that money to sign some extra free agents. They're trying to compete this year..

"The field or will this be a straight up competition for one guy to start in the other to take a secondary backseat role at this position and working in with the secondary. So guys with darna homes and aaron robinson. How do you feel about this. Who do you think is going to be starting at this position in. Who do you think wins the battle. We i need to see an robinson. Get training camp but again. That could happen really any time. It's just a core muscle. He's i believe dealing with at all off season so hopefully that happens soon in say that it does. I honestly think it's not hot. Take to surmise that aaron robinson could by the end of the year earned more snaps. Darn homes but. I don't know if that's going to be based on slot coverage because i think darnay homes. You can move outside if you need to put them in the box a little bit more. He did that at. Ucf at star of player hybrid safety hybrid type of linebacker. He actually did that in college even though he's technically a cornerback doesn't necessarily have to build but real passing situations. Ab you can use him in that type of alignment which would lead to more snaps for him. Because i feel like darna. Homes is only going to play slot and that's kind of where he's designed play terms of skill sets. I mean they're both incredible. Athletes homes is a five star product out of california and robinson didn't have that kind of pedigree coming out of high school but he just bawled out last year for. Ucf cleaned up is tackling showed up better ability. I would say run support in even with shedding blocks diagnosing all the mental skills that you need to play defense which was really really imperative. Patrick rams defense as well. So i think it's going to be a good battle. Also bought are at the end of the day. I wouldn't be shocked if it is aaron robinson. Kind of getting a little bit more. I felt darning homes was fine last year but there were times where he was getting picked on a lot of the times. It was more schematic than just necessarily skill set but were extended plays specifically against seattle. Where i felt like our homes lost his coverage assignment and it was tyler lockett or something like that and he just gets tunnel vision. That's something that can be corrected with more reps but those mistakes persist. I could see coaching staff going and saying okay. Let's get robinson a little bit more of a shot in the slot. See how that looks. The nikki news homes when robinson and other roles i think just zoom out a little bit. How patrick graham deploys. All of these defensive backs is going to be really interesting because they just added a dory jackson. They've still got julian love. They've got logan ryan. They've got jarrow peppers. They've got mckinney back there. Then we've got donate homes in robinson and so many options and that i think just to talk about storylines we're gonna watch and to link to that aspect is going to be really interesting to me over the course of training camp and preseason preseason now with this battle in particular i think it might come down to again assuming robinson.

"I think the linebacker position in the nfc east is in good hands. Right now with mike. Parsons engine in davis which sucks for the new york giants because the second level defenders who can drop into cupboard and can be effective as blitzer which i believe davis and mike parsons bolt will be. It's going to be annoying for the giants going to be annoying for our protection. Package that consists of an elder statesman. Being will hernandez was twenty. Five years old some manipulation. They're going up against incredible athletes. When it scheme to properly by guys like dan quinn and by guys like jack. Del rio solid defensive coordinators. And i mean. You can't get much worse than worse than what mike nolan was last year. So it's going to be annoying. Let's go onto the cornerbacks now though all right my number one cornerback in this division. Don't believe this is home. Arisen the secondary from the new york giants. Willy billy solid end. James bradbury has a shot. I would say to be considered as a top five cornerback in the national football league last year. now he didn't run too many men coverage assignments. I mean patrick. Ram was much more zone oriented. But you would see him on the backside of through by one sets lined up against true number one type receivers in meg coverage which is man everywhere he goes and he did solid doing and then when they were in zone the giants always roll their safeties tour towards the opposite side of where james bradbury was entrusting james bradberry with that covered so having that stable quarterback one is is very advantageous for defense playcallers. 'cause then you can roll your safety coverage and your other zone coverages towards a bigger liability which giants had last year. But this year. They don't and i'm going to go into who the third cornerback was right. Now since it's a new york giant. And that is a dory jackson okay and there are a couple different corners. You can go with here. So i've slept at four corners one's going to be a slot in the second boundary corner. We'll get into in a little bit but then we have a third guy. Who's a little bit more interchangeable. That's dorie jackson because dory jackson. Ken lineup in the slot. He did that for the tennessee. Titans plenty of times. And he's also a boundary cornerback. Who has the hips and athletic ability. To play. man cupboard has shown discipline. At the line of scrimmage and is solid at the catch point being physical and isn't a liability as a run defender despite the fact that he's a bit undersized now his issues have been due to injuries and things like that. It came back last year. Got torched by davante adams in the snow up in green bay. We can try the toss that season out. Okay we can but we need to see young player. Be healthy in a system that i feel. I can really unlock his skill. Set and with coaches like jerome henderson. Like patrick ram that can really maximize what he can do. And he's only twenty five years old right now. Like i considered william jackson the third who are longer cornerback. Maybe not a scheme versatile who was just signed by the wash him football team to make this list. He's a twenty eight year old player. But i think dorie jackson could be in for a really special season under the tutelage of this specific coaching staff. And you know what. The coaching staff and a team thinks as well because they invested a lot of money into him. So i brought dorie jackson and to be the second corner or the third cornerback of this group of the second. Cornerback is darius slay yet. He's thirty years old. But i don't believe he's falling off all that much right now. I really don't think it was a bad year for philadelphia. And now you're going to see him kinda restabilize or at least attempt to re stabilize himself on this philadelphia. Eagles team that you know what. There's not a lot of positive outlooks for philly right now but when you watch the film you could still see. That sleigh has has a good skill set to back to back up his play right now now. It's not as dominant as it was when he was on the detroit. Lions and he was manning up number one receivers. But i do believe it's still solid enough to be the number two cornerback that i would select from this division because it's kind of a drop off after daria slanting bradbury's a clear cut one like i thought blake martinez was clear-cut first linebacker mainly due to experience. Because you could make an argument. That mike parsons actually is or german. Davis possibly is because mike parsons is very very unique as an athlete and as a football player rookies. So you've got the experience. They prove in their productive now. Bradberry is that as well. He really took an the next step. And patrick graham system. Which is something. I really wanna hit home. Both blake martinez. James bradberry leonard williams are veteran players. Who played with multiple defensive coordinators yet. They have just unlocked their potential. They actualized what they can do on the football field. And let's not forget it. The reason why that's happening is because this coaching staff putting these players into the optimal positions. Because of patrick ram. It's because of joe judge. That is a great thing to recognize about this young coaching staff. And when joe judge got this team when he said we want teachers. We don't want coaches. We want to teach these guys and it seems like all. Three of those veteran players really took their game to the next level within patrick graham system. They're feeding off the. There's a confidence there and you can even group injured girl peppers internet groups four veteran players there. That's an awesome realization to come to. Let's hope it kind of carries into twenty twenty one. But that's what james bradberry did he really just came into his own and he was a solid above average player. A really solid number. Two i think is how i classified him coming out of carolina. You know that is a really solid number two cornerback. He might not be a number one. But under patrick graham and what he did last year he certainly was a number one. I mean he was always around. The football is quick. Closed was great. His vision and his route con is understanding of route concepts of winter. Break when to his spatial awareness. Just all those things kind of all came together and force a lot of turnovers whether it was him knocking the ball in the air for an interception for darn homes julian love or whatever or just him intercept the ball by himself he really came into his own twenty twenty and he could build on that darius slay i think he's in a war situation if i do say so i mean we'll we'll see what the defense does there for the philadelphia eagles. I'm not one hundred percent certain. How good that team is going to be under nick serianni by. I still think he is. That second corner went with the door jackson three. And then the slop. Romy would go down in washington kendall fuller. Somebody who was traded away from washington went to the chiefs came back to washington. He's twenty six years old. And i feel like. He's one of the more underrated players in the national football league as a cornerback because he man's that slot he's not that big but he really kind of shuts down the slot and does a good job tackling guys after the catch. I mean he's solid tackling cornerback. Despite the fact that he is sub two hundred pounds and he's also somebody who just is a bit more proven the darnay homes of the world bit more proven than the slot. Be jordan. Lewis is somebody. I thought of who can play outside. He can play in the slot. Somebody i realistically sought of. Anthony browne as well and then philadelphia. Their slot situation is kvant seymour. And sometimes they put them onto a maddox there. But he's more so when outside guys so what i was thinking about. Slot kendall fuller was the easy player to choose. Hopefully darnay homes or aaron robinson. Kinda take their game to the next level there..

"With you get up and time now for. And here's why with mike. I'll give a statement and he'll tell me if he agrees or disagree and explain why so dak. Prescott is the favourite for comeback player of the year agree. Disagree i disagree. And here's why. I think it's going to be game winston. Who's going to have a really good year for the new orleans saints and i liked that prescott lot. I think he's gonna do a lot of great things for the cowboys. I think a lot of people around the league or sleeping on what jameis winston can do for the new orleans saints after seeing for your behind drew greece. This one's like deja vu all over again. Baker mayfield is the two thousand. Eighteen brown's draft picks to get an extension. No no and no. We got sign denzel ward. He's a really good corner. He started thirty six games. he could play mantha man. These are really hard to find. He's a little bit undersized durability always going to be an issue variety you look at someone like dory jackson when he leaves. Tennessee gets a huge deal by the giants. Then awards the priority for the cleveland. Browns get him. Signed right away okay. Third one for you. The bengals drafted justin. Herbert over joe borough agree or disagree. Absolutely justin herber is a budding superstar. If we go back last year right thirty one touchdowns. He was six in the league in passing yards and he had no preparation. Now you look at what. The chargers did three new outfits of it in matt. Filer corey lindley. They drafted rashawn slater. They got two great wide receivers. I think just in herbert's.
