"Of main guys are all coming towards the end so they've got they've got major surgery Bione are surely going to be much better yeah Bione are going to make some massive investments I think Ali said on your show didn't he that this haunts you for the rest of your life I was like wow never sleep the Dortmund players will never sleep again I mean you don't have very many opportunities to leads win anywhere at any time and and and so when it's been gifted to you multiple times and you still you still screw it up yes it's it's difficult because it's one thing if Bayern had screwed up and you just won 10 in a row and then you're like yeah okay I could see Bayern winning the next 10 in a row afterwards but when you have a manager and the emotions and every I it's haunting it's haunting that's what it is how your buttocks stevie someone's on I'm ready that is not the answer I was expecting to that question should United be looking at a replacement for De Gea you're gonna get angry at this question and if so who should they look to bring in I'm not sure that there's a ready -made replacement for David De Gea right now should they

"Drawer from Musiara very special very special finish indeed Kees well it was and considering the timing of it as well where you know they get pegged back it's 1 -1 they're losing the title they make some changes and then as you mentioned a kid that really hasn't had a great second half of the season and so to be able to come in under that kind of pressure have the finish that he had to to lift the title for Bayern is is a pretty special occasion that I'm sure that will be the highlight of Bayern's season in a season that is not quite something is not the season that most Bayern fans obviously the hierarchy will look to they'll say hey remember that great goal in the 89th minute from Musiara that won us the title and everyone will go great I think yes if you want to put a positive spin on this from a Bayern Munich perspective on this season that's what you remember you remember Musiara coming off the bench and having the impact that that he does and while the record books will show that Bayern of one was a day 11th in the row I think people within the club people within football will look back on this season very differently for Bayern as one that not quite sure how we won the title we won it but it'll be remembered for more for their stumbles on the other side of that of that same corner and I understand the reluctance to say that Dortmund bottled it kind of given the raw emotion the rawness of it but you're Borussia Dortmund you're asked to play against Mainz who's sitting ninth in the table at home you win the game you I really don't um and and for me it's Dortmund's 90 minutes felt like a team more worried about making mistakes than going out to play and win the game and that was a huge disappointment for me with Borussia Dortmund that they always seem to have a hand breakup yes they were a little bit unlucky I I never blame anybody about a second penalty that somehow the referee doesn't point to the spot for but Mainz hit the post in in addition to scoring two goals Mainz Mainz came and played their part as did as did Cologne and and and so as a result taking the emotion out of it if you sit here you just think we can find all kinds of ways to kind of um shape this around around Dortmund and their squad and the lack of quality and and how big the bench is you have to win one football game to win a title there can't be any lower and ask at this level it that I'm not sure how how you just shake that off let's not forget this is the second time they've thrown it away they got themselves ahead weeks ago it's so it's not like they've had one bite in it this big fat apple they've actually made a complete and utter mess of it for the second twice no three times because they they had Stuttgart where they slipped up when I think they were two nil up then it's two two and then Gio comes on and scores a goal in like the 93rd minute and then they concede in the 97th then they got okay then Bayern messes up again then they're at Bochum who's in a massive relegation fight and they slip up there and then they need Bayern to screw up again at home last week to give them the other I mean how many chances do you want right just before and at Schalke as well Casey yeah in March yeah yeah before that so yeah we could go yeah actually just one point on Nagelsmann you of course have spent a lot of time with him during during his time in Germany is he happy or sad do you mean generally right now I think well I think the fact that the guys who were accused of such a lack of class in the way that they sacked him in Hassan Sally Hamidjic the ex -sporting director and Oliver Kahn the ex -CEO the fact that someone said to Oliver Kahn no no no you're not going to Cologne you're getting fired I think he may be like well at least somebody you know gave one back in the whole karma department of class at least and particularly because like that's what a big accusation was towards Kahn and Sally Hamidjic that this wasn't the buying way to do it and I'd say the way that it's happened to them today I mean like this I think the writers of succession are going well that's a bit harsh guys so yeah I think Julian Nagelsmann has a wry smile but still wonders what if are you just going to sleep for the whole summer now Archie sleep done we've got Bundesliga relegation playoffs we've got the DFB Cup final next Saturday there ain't no time for sleep yet my friend oh no sir but I will let you go to sleep now we'll continue the show don't worry Archie so Stuttgart against Hamburg this is in Bundesliga two Hamburg against Stuttgart not yet not yet tomorrow's games will determine if it'll be Heidenheim or Hamburg apologies Heidenheim or Hamburg then face off tomorrow and then the winner will face at Stuttgart for a place in the Bundesliga next season did you know youtube tv is more than cable for less than cable that's right youtube tv has no long -term contract or hidden fees and it even lets you catch up to the live game with key plays with a lineup of over 100 channels you can watch live tv like cable signing up is simple get started in minutes and you can watch

"Of the things about German football is that you work under a sporting director on a sporting structure and he bought into this project with Zadihamidzic and Kahn they are now gone they're not part of Bayern anymore so somebody else is going to come in we don't know at this point who that will be but it's something I've been looking at with regard to because even though Bayern got the win today his record has not been great it has been wobbly perhaps he'll think about it over the course of the next few days and say right we turned the page we got through it but yeah relief some joy some delight Tomas Müller for example was there when Kearns said goodbye to two of their great servants Timo Horn and Jonas Hector the captain and the Bayern players all sort of joined in on that celebration after they had been able to celebrate the title win themselves but all was a lot going on with Bayern and this Kahn Zadihamidzic development is certainly more fuel to the Bayern fire and something to monitor yeah very much so Derek we all of course saw Zadihamidzic in the stands Oliver Kahn meanwhile came out and tweeted that this is the worst day of his life because he couldn't be there to celebrate he was forbidden what did Bayern do lock him in a room what have they done with it well yeah he was forbidden apparently his words not allowed to be at the stadium so yeah this all apparently took shape ahead of the game Tomas Tuchel knew it the players knew it so there's that backdrop as well and you know you guys who've all played the game you know how these things can creep in yeah you're a professional footballer but when you have political things going on off the pitch that's bound to seep into your your minds to an extent but Bayern were professional wasn't the best performance of the season and you showed it earlier when Curran made it 1 -1 I thought it was more or less deserved but you know maybe when we analyze it we'll look back on that moment of brilliance by a superb footballer Inchamán Musiara and Archie said it right he's not had a great second half of the season he came on late in the game and that is the bit of extra quality I think that Bayern have over Dortmund I think Dortmund have a good bench I think Bayern have better players in reserve and yeah you know a goal to win a title as title winning goals go that was right out of the top

"I just saw my way driving out just people sat on grassy knolls looking into the distance thousand -yard stairs wondering where did it all go wrong? You're gonna shout at me I'm ready for it Archie, they bottled it in the end though didn't they? I won't shout I don't have the energy for that I think that they didn't quite have the quality to get it over the line and there's something about a coldness of mentality that Bayern Munich have with their experience and so many players with that x factor and one of them who hasn't showed up in the second half of the season did in the final minute so yeah I find it very hard to accuse Sebastien Haller a man who has come back to play football having had cancer earlier this season of lacking bottle I will not do that because he has more bottle than any of us in the world for beating cancer and coming back playing football at this level it is just heartbreaking and part of why we love sport that there is with on the one side you get the joy of winning when it happens but on the other side you risk it all precisely knowing that there is that pain on the other side if things don't work out for you. Derek from Dortmund's perspective going into this mines Casey said were kind of the ideal opponent it wasn't like you were facing off against Bayern or a team looking to survive or put a place in the Champions League and that's what if I was a Dortmund fan I'd be so disappointed with because this was really our chance in this 11th year to take it away from Bayern and if you could have written it up as the opponent I wanted to face I couldn't have chosen much better than mines. Yeah I can understand that argument Dan you know I think if you look at actually both Mainz and Kern the opponents for the respective protagonists today you'd have said okay fair enough not an awful lot on the line for those two but the history with the Bundesliga is that these teams play until the end and there's always motivation and Mainz had a point to prove having not done so well as you mentioned in recent matches um but I do go along with with you that this was Dortmund's to lose it was I'll use a German word here a fernduel which basically is a great German word for two teams going after the same prize but playing in different venues yet at the same time see how long it took to say that in English fernduel in German it's understand understandable to everyone and um this is a pressure situation always and I think heard Casey say that just earlier on in your little synopsis of the two games Bayern put the pressure on early and word gets around very quickly it's fascinating obviously I was in current today in the stadium and it's fascinating to kind of feel that you know to feel um yeah okay Bayern have scored and you can kind of sense that yeah that maybe has planted the seed of fear in Dortmund minds Archie would be better placed to say exactly what happens 74 kilometres away in Dortmund as to whether there was that feeling but yeah I mean Dortmund have missed a big opportunity but we're talking about Bayern they are the record champions not for nothing the record champions and you know it's interesting because apparently they all knew about Oliver Kahn Hassan Sarri Hamidjic being axed the CEO and the head of sport respectively had to put that to one side Tomas Tuchel had to put that to one side he made changes to his lineup and they got over the line and that is all anybody in the fullness of time is going to remember pressure in the end Stevie does that what made the difference no not good enough defensively right you know you can you you can can feel bad for the players and you can feel bad for the fans and Tersic and this and that but at the end of the day they had a they had a problem that was staring everybody in the face and they didn't do anything about it and that was defensively in a year where Bayern was screaming for somebody to come and win the Bundesliga and Dortmund weren't good enough and that does not reflect well on the Bundesliga if there was a year where somebody had to take a step above them it was this year because Bayern are not going to be this bad next year it just seems impossible so I would suggest that unfortunately for Dortmund they didn't bottle it they weren't good enough and they weren't good enough because either the coaching staff or the football whoever it is didn't make the right changes or any sort of changes defensively you're at home the last game of the season you score two goals you create half a dozen great chances you should win but no because you can't defend you lose the title and when I look at the experience of that defense I mean Hummels and Sula have tons of experience you know Emre Chan in that equation as well Marco Royce coming in early in the match I mean there's enough experience there I mean Ali and I in the in the halftime we're talking about missing you know Jude Bellingham and the experience the experience of a 20 year old as opposed to those four players to see a match out and keep it tight at the back knowing that you have offensive threats going forward but instead in that big occasion you end up two nil down against Mainz at home and you have those pillars now maybe they're on the wrong side of their career but on a massive stage we always talk about experience as opposed to youthful exuberance when the pressure's on well it didn't work today oh Jesus simple to say if Bellingham would have played today it would have been a different story I don't know I don't I don't agree with Stevie I think that they'd won their last 11 games at home this was and defensively Mats Hummels has been in superb form recently and hasn't deserved to be dropped and actually since the winter break Marius Wolf at right back and Julian Rias on at left back have been excellent I think that they lost the title in the first half of the season they were sick and struggling to make it into the champions league I didn't think they would let alone have a chance of winning the title on the final day so and they infested a lot of money in Nikola Zula in terms of wages and Nico Schlatterback in the summer I think as a team that we just had to make up a little bit too much ground in the second of the season because they won nearly every game so yeah Jude Bellingham has always made a difference I think that he would have maybe roused the crowd a bit more because I think that the crowd fell a bit flat there were no updates of the goals going in in Dortmund until Nobby Dickel the press the stadium announcer said Colonna be equalized and then there was a big rush and you wonder oh well did that mean that the players relaxed a bit or would that push them on it's difficult to tell but I think there was just so much going on in their minds I think you're looking at one of the most emotional clubs in world football and I mean that both in a positive sense but also you carry that you carry that emotion in a way that I think that some clubs in England won't and I think that we saw that today and we saw what can happen on the negative side of it because yeah it was weird it was just a really weird surreal experience as you mentioned Derek me while you were in Poland what was it like from the Bayern fans and the players was it like yes we've done it again or how the heck did we do it again probably a combination of both Dan to be honest they were thrilled when the news came through when they knew that they had finally done it celebrated with the fans but I think they all knew the Bayern fans and the Bayern players were very realistic ahead of time that were the favorites and things had to go wrong for Dortmund and yes Bayern could play their part and you know it did work out but you know I think it's going to be interesting now and I think we do have to talk about Tomas Tucher and he was asked after the game about his own future because remember he was brought on board by Hassan Zadihamidzic and Oliver Kahn they were the big two who made the decision to let Julian Nagelsmann go and it is now an open question about Tucher is he going to stay probably but you know one

"Welcome in to the latest edition of ESPN FC, I'm Dan Thomastrom by Casey Keller, Shaka Hislop and Stevie Nichol will start today's show with the final round of matches in the Bundesliga and it really couldn't get more dramatic than it turned out to be. Borussia Dortmund in action against Mainz. For Dortmund it was simple, if they won the game they were champions, however they could only manage a 2 -2 draw. Bayern Munich just had to be cloned then to win. These games were going on at the same time, they were 1 -0 up but then they conceded a penalty 1 -1, it looked like Bayern were going to blow it and despite Borussia Dortmund losing they were still going to win it but then Moussialis got a brilliant goal in the 89th minute to give Bayern Munich the win and those precious points that see them win the Bundesliga, one goal difference. Artur Intat was in Dortmund for this game and he spoke to Edin Terzic after the result. Edin, commiserations, just on a human level, difficult to watch what you and your players have had to go through, how can you sum it up? It's difficult to find the right words, we feel empty because we knew about the chance, we can feel the energy within the stadium, within the city and we all wanted it so hard and in the end it was, we've been so close, it was one goal that was missing at the end, it was one goal in the other stadium that was missing and before the game we knew that we are 90 minutes away to lift the trophy and we tried everything to prepare ourselves for a good game and then you can see. So this is the game that we fell in love with when we were kids and sometimes it feels hard, sometimes it's tough to miss a penalty, to concede two early goals and then all of a sudden everything feels so heavy but in the end you can feel it that we tried our best and unfortunately it wasn't enough and before the game we've been 90 minutes away and now again we are 34 matchdays away to try it again and tomorrow we're going to start a new try. Do you think it was the most human emotion of realising, I guess, what was in front of you that ultimately kicked in? Yes, it's difficult to answer that kind of question because nobody knows. I had the feeling that we had a good start, we were very aggressive, we were under control but then we conceded the goal on the set -piece, we missed our chances, we missed our opportunity and then, of course, if you're too nulled down we lost a bit of our patience to prepare our attacks but it's now impossible for me to find the right analysis after what happened. We just know that we are really, really sad about that we couldn't give back to the crowd what they deserved but we can promise that we're going to start again from tomorrow on. Just finally, I had a text from a Dortmund fan today who just wanted to thank you for what you've given him and his fellow fans here today and we saw that with the way that they received you. Will you take any consolation out of what you, plural, as a trainer team, have done here in building that connection back to the fans because it felt like something still this season? Yeah, we said it from day one that if we want to compete and if we want to be successful it's not enough to have 11 players or 26 players in the squad, it's not enough to have 700 or 1 ,000 employees, we need everybody, we need everybody to stay positive, we need everybody to believe, we need everybody to lift themselves up even if it's tough. As I mentioned, it feels very unfair today because we've been through so many setbacks this season but again this is a test and again they're going to test us and they're going to try to see how much we can take and so we have to lift ourselves up, we have to get the energy back and then we're going to try a new attempt from the beginning of July and then we have to improve but we've been on a really great way the recent months with a good year, 2023, we are on a good way but unfortunately today without a happy end so we have to fight for the next season and hopefully next season we're going to have a happy end. Every time I've had you here, mate, it's been a pleasure, thank you, we will see you next season, Edin Terzic, all the best, thank you. Honest and frank interview there from Edin Terzic after the game, let's get some more reaction now, let's welcome in shall we, Derek Wray who was calling the Bayern Munich game and of course as we saw Archer in touch at Dortmund pitch side for us, Archer I've got to start with you, what on earth would it be like to be there? So I've just watched back all the highlights that you've shown there in the interview, mate, I'm exhausted, I'm absolutely exhausted emotionally and I had no horse in this race, I couldn't sleep last night alone at the prospect of what today was going to be and did it deliver? I mean there's words that I wanted to say there that I can't say on television but it's incredible, from a Bayern perspective to have somehow ended up with this title but from the Dortmund perspective, I've not seen people on the floor literally and emotionally as they were in Dortmund, like I saw a guy outside the stadium selling t -shirts with Dortmund German champions 2023 before the game, so maybe that was the start of where things would got a little bit too confident but look, ultimately I think their biggest strength turned into their weakness today which is that emotionality that they have under Edin Terzic because they just felt too much what it was going to mean to win and you saw all those chances that they had and I think they oversaw it and it's very sad from a Borussia Dortmund perspective to have come that close for someone like Marco Reus, that poor guy, how much pain can one human being take in a career missing out on Germany's World Cup success in 2014 because of injury? The only World Cup he then goes and plays at was in 2018 when Germany were at their worst with Borussia Dortmund, it's painful memory after painful memory whether it's Champions League final never winning a Bundesliga title and you think it's here for you Marco but no so yeah desolate in Dortmund and

"Book it. I thought you could take it. There you go. There you go. All right, what position is better to be in? Leading or chasing, for example, arsenal on man city. And let's use this specific position where arsenal leading and city have games in hand that they have to win. Ali. Well, I mean, it's chasing because of the difficulties of the scheduling, but for all intents and purposes, it's not chasing. Manchester City don't feel right now like they're behind. They're not playing like they're behind. They look like they're confident team where it's arsenal are the ones that are doubting themselves. So I will take Manchester City's position all day every day. Yep. Yes, that's the question. Who's team do you want to play in right now? Would you rather be in man city's position, Kira and right now are arsenals? Oh, well man city's right now. There we go. All right, stop, Ben can drop these three Premier League left wingers of the past decade in their prime. Start bench or drop. Sadio Mané, Eden Hazard, and sun hyun min. You can start hearing with this one. Start bench a drop. Easy. Everyone at their prime start hazard. I love a love song. I just don't want to drop him, but I'm going to have to drop son. And Benjamin. That's the answer. So what are you seeing? And so on. Because you're late, so. Even though he likes him, he's still got rid of him. So what? Kids really seeing hazard money. I think that's what he said. He did. That's what he said. She said I like you, but I'm going to have to drop you anyway. He dropped them anyways. He loves him. Yeah. I thought it was what was it? Well, we used to have this question in the last one with sale. Oh, would that change it here and if it was sell instead of draft?

"Table. There's a lot of talk about it being three of the teams from the bottom 5 right now. Who do you fear for? Who do you think is going down key ren? I'm going to go ever in Southampton and then between the other three. If I had to pick one, I'd go for it just because it's been so long since they've leads have been through it last season, less to have been through it. They weren't far off it last year. So I'm going to go, I'm going to go forest. I'm going to go for it. I just think less there are going to have enough and I feel like with leads and that the games that they've probably got a home, they probably got the best chance. Can you see everything going down? I can, but there's a little glimmer that if Calvert Lewin can stay flat between no and end of the season and then get some sharpness between knowing them, they may have somebody that can score some goals. So they're going to survive. I don't. You don't want to say it to you. Because you have been pretty much saying you think they'll survive. I did because I thought they would get enough drawers. I didn't think they were going games, but I just thought there would be tough to be and they get points that way because I think in Southampton were away. I have no idea how not to beat brain. How forests are not in a bond three years beyond me. And I thought Lester, because they can't be fancy of the lives. Yes, they may be able to score some goals, but they can't defend his hear them lives. So I thought maybe our 8, but as the game began to disappear, the chances seem to be disappearing as well. "That gets them a wing? And the only thing that you can say there is Bournemouth for us, right? Yeah, well, maybe at Bournemouth and non enforced. And that's it. Beyond that, I would not count Chelsea on even getting a point out of the rest of the other matches there. So when you ask a question, can you win can they win a game? And we laugh and chuckle, we actually have to take this question seriously and say, I don't know. Mommy. Do you think it, do you think it is a valid question, key run, to see that could they win a game for the rest of the season? I mean, looking at the fixtures, there's only two data I see that we've state of probably like how the club is at the moment. They're the only two games I can see them potentially winning. But I think it's deeper than someone coming in and trying to sort the place up for the remaining games. There's not much, I don't think that there was much to anyone could have done. It's just like a complete wipe of confidence out of the whole club and when you're in that rut, you've kind of just got to ride it out. I mean, there's not going to be much damage now. They're not going to get they're not going to get relegated. They're not going to make Europe, so they're going to just want these games done as quick as possible, I think. You wonder who is going to get relegated? It started to become a bit clearer now at the bottom end of the

"A dormant pushing forward. When they got desperate, you never really needed to get to that point. You allow it to get to the point where you're desperate. Now you're not nearly as good. What is a dormant had opportunity to kill this game off in the first half they didn't, they got themselves into trouble. And that's what stood out to you in the second half as well, wasn't it, Stevie, that the urgency only came in the day in sages of the game. Yeah, and I've got to kind of look at the coach for that. Because the first thing I want to see is starting a second half as a team full of that emotion and desire. And my job at halftime is to make sure when they leave the dressing room that they are fired up to get after it straight away because you can't rely on just sitting back. Just let's sit back and play a football in the openings will come. This time of the season, you've got to go and grab it. You know, nobody's going to give you anything. You've got to go and take it. And they didn't do that. And there's Ali said, ten, 15 minutes, all of a sudden, the urgency was there. The movement was better. The desire was better. That makes no sense. When you take 11 years is it? And you start the second half against borkum, who attract to avoid relegation and you don't get after it, that I think that's done in a coach. The funny thing is, is going into the game, even though Dortmund will lead in the table and had the one point advantage. There was a big feeling from some parts that Bayern Munich, some of the automakers as well. We're still favorites going into the clash, obviously, given their history. They're ten straight, Bundesliga titles, the fact that there is still a few games to be played. These are the odds now as we look at it and it's hard not to flip flop on who you think is going to win at this season. Ali Moreno is feed two in

"Because you are thinking to yourself, right, we didn't do our part. We didn't do our job in terms of taking advantage of the opportunities. But when there were moments where the referee to do his job, he didn't do it. And when there was an opportunity for the VA our official to help him, they didn't do it either. That, I think, is the most disappointing part from their perspective. As always in these situations, the unfortunately has to change the rhetoric. Because it comes down to clean and obvious. And if the guy in the bar of the people in the bar are not sure whether it's clear and obvious, they don't do anything. They have to get rid of that. Because that's the excuse. Well, we can't do any of them. Unless we think the referees made it clear and obvious decision or a mistake, then we will leave them alone. And they tell you we have to leave them alone. That's where they have to change it. If they're not sure whether it's a penalty or not, that should be the only thing that matters. Not whether it's clear and obvious, but is it the right wrong decision for such an important decision? So if they can get rid of that and go to, well, it could be, let's get the referee over, then we might have seen a different decision by the referee. So as you said, there were the decisions, and we're not discounting them, but there were chances for the Dortmund in this game. There was also a chance to ensure that you keep a clean sheet and very early on. Bochum go ahead. And this is where we're seeing the Borussia Dortmund where we don't know what to make of them this season. Right, and so you're thinking after they have all the momentum coming into this game given the fact that they did have a dominant performer against hydrogen from the weekend and they're now leading Bundesliga. What are they going to do? They're really going to establish how superior of a team they are, how much better of a team they are early on. Early on they go down one zero. But give credit to what is a dormant. A minute later, they tie the game up. And so you're thinking, okay, from here or now, we are going to see a better version of what is a dorm, because nerfs come down. Game is one, one. Let's settle down. Let's play. And they did. "On other teams slipping up. We touched on a story yesterday that our rob Dawson wrote it's over on the ESPN dot com website and it's about Harry Maguire and sources telling ESPN that Harry Maguire is very affected by social media, particularly in the aftermath of matches. Sources have told ESPN that McGuire can on occasion focus to him which on social media criticism, despite being advised to stay off Twitter in the immediate aftermath of matches. Made him yesterday speaking about this, Frank le boff told us about a coach friend of his. He wouldn't reveal who it was, who said that it was just so different these days, because after a game, you'd see players in the dressing room as soon as they come back in from the game, just all pulling out their phones and looking straight away at social media. Is that something you ever saw or experienced when you were still playing? Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely, it was. I think that's something that changed a lot over the years from when I started playing in 2004 when I was on the way in 2020. Because everyone is connected now, most players, if not all players are online, they all have public profiles. And they just see a different world to say the one that existed when myself and the other guys were playing right at the start. So this is the way that it's gone. And they do go on their phones, probably doing a multitude of things. Some of it is just my number in the night actually paying attention to what's going on. It's just a habit, sometimes you look around, you see everybody on their phone. And it feels like it'd be fair to be critical. But it's just different. Everybody's kind of in the same situation. They're working out with each other. And I think with Harry, he's not young. He's 30 years old, and yay. He's going online, but I don't know why people watching him over his shoulder as he goes on Twitter and scroll through the replies to see what people are saying. I'm not sure. And if they believe it's effect, and then maybe it's the case he needs to maybe do it less, but ultimately he's made it this far with having this habit. So I don't know, it's a strange one and for him as well. If he's looking online to see what people think about his performance, he's in a very, very unique situation where if he does well, nobody says anything, but if he does badly everyone wants to tell him, so there's no actual net gain to be had from going to look what people think about him as a player. So maybe I'll advise against it. But then as I say, it's younger people, they live in a different world to say some of the ones who were older who don't need the Internet. But for them, they're very much a big part of it. I wish you well I hope it doesn't affect his football too much, but it's fair to say as well as far as playing for England goals. He checks his father and he does just fine for them. So maybe there's something there. Maybe there's not. Even if a player does well, even if a player has a great game, they will still be the moronic element, finds something. To there is a negative undertone term. Because these platforms are riddled with a lot of sensible people, but they're riddled with idiots. Right? Some of the wasps. So as the modern day social media, but there's ways and means of cutting out what you do and don't see. And as affecting you as a player, you go to do the common sense thing. You don't spend time checking that people are harming you. Because if it's affecting you, then that's just a silly thing to do. So I don't know how much truth there is and how much it affects them. I don't know. But what I do know is, there's all these players will be getting pummeled. Because that's what happens. You've only got to go on any social media account. We talk about Ronaldo this week. Even their to suggest that he was becoming too old to be picked for Portugal initiative move on. Oh my God. Everybody got roasted. No, we don't care. Can we just come in and do a job? Well, you have to be sensible, sensible about these things. If you're a modern day player and you're more effective than others by what people are saying, you should not be on these platforms as much. There's a couple of things. If you or Annie Maguire and you're going through on the field what he's been going through, why are you going on social media? Because not only are the opposition finds given you grief, you're getting grief off your own funds. So why are you doing it? And actually, in my opinion, makes no difference between today and when we play it. The people still give people stick so what you did then was he didn't read the papers. I mean, it's common, it should be common sense. It really should be. And Holly Maguire, as did upset, has got a three in front of his name. And if he's looking on social media, to figure out how good a body was, then I don't know how he got to Manchester United, because as players, you should know whether you've had a good day, an average day or a horrible day, without going on social media and looking for a clap in the back or whatever. I mean, come on, other back common sense. What do you think of it all Stewart? Are you glad that social media wasn't around when you were playing? Do you think that you would have had an account and been checking it if it were around? I certainly wouldn't have had an account. And I certainly wouldn't have been checking it. I'll give you an example. When I first started writing for the sandy telegraph and I wrote about 6 or 7 articles and then you could press a button and see what people said about your articles. For 6 or 7 weeks, they were everything was great. So I kept on looking at it. Oh, they're saying great things about me. What a great article that was. And the 7th one, I criticize arson wenger. Oh my goodness, gracious. It all came down, and that was the last time I ever looked at a social media or a Twitter page or anything to do with anything that I do. It's better off not knowing. The only people you have to make sure are on your side are your manager, your coach, and the other people I used to get advice from was my family. That's all that you need to make sure that enjoy what you're doing. Don't worry about the idiots that are writing in on Twitter and all those accounts. It's absolute madness for Harry Maguire to do that. Last word goes to you on this one. Yeah, I was just going to say, I think everyone said, it's been like so reasonable, but I think ultimately, just younger players, they're just they're different. They've got more of a compulsion to be online and most of them have grown up online. So for them to step away from it, it's a huge leap far bigger than say any of ourselves deciding to go away from it. So I think if anything, if this report ends up being true and he can't get away from Twitter, then it's a sign that he's addicted to that and he does need some sort of help because it's not helping him on the field off the field and so on and so forth because to receive that much opinion about yourself, which you probably believe to be wrong all the time, but not be able to step away from it. That's if it's true, as I say, that is a bigger cry for help, and I think it should be supported through that because ultimately nobody needs to go through that if that's going to be the case and I can say it's a privilege in some ways to be in a place where you can step away from it because lots of people who are younger than us for them is almost impossible unfortunately. I think we need to call it the direct race syndrome. Derek who Derek who whenever I see him doesn't matter if he's in a crowd and he's in a pub or a restaurant, he can not get off that fall and stop checking his Twitter. Well, everybody loves Derek so nobody would say anything mean to it. No, not many people say mean things to Derek. One or two, but some people and I say that as you know Derek is a very good friend. He is, it's almost like a drugs are on world. But as like, it just draws some people to it. Compulsion, isn't it? You just can't help it. And some people just can't help checking and looking. And unfortunately, as we know, there's not a lot of sensible people out there who put sensible things on the social media. So you have to be careful. You do have to be careful. Steve is thinking about reactivating. Maybe. Definitely. Tweet responsibility. Responsibly. And make sure to catch the FA Cup semis. "And come back from two goals down to draw two two, but before that, 8 straight wins for Bayern Munich. In fact, Dortmund's last win over their rival was all the way back in August of 2019. But let's get word from our team in Munich right now. Actually you're into Derrick Rae and Anna Friedrich ahead of the latest clash. Welcome to Munich on the eve of the big one. Bayern Munich against Borussia Dortmund and four an appropriately sized game I have appropriately sized guests in Derek ray and Anna Friedrich, Ana, I'll start with you. No one saw Thomas Tuchel being in charge of this game for Bayern Munich two weeks ago. So what impacts are you going to make as buying coach, do you think? Obviously he didn't really have too much time to prepare the team. First of all, many players who are on the road, playing for their countries, but I expect a huge impact to be honest because every player has to show up now and everybody wants to show off. Or show up and but I would say he's not going to change too many things tactically, I would say he's playing the three two four one. I mean, he did that with Chelsea Chu. To me, did the big question is who's going to start up front? It's getting back. Obviously, he has a variety of players. To start with, so that's going to be very interesting. But in general, I think his most important part right now is to communicate with the players. I think he did a very well at the press conference saying, okay, it's going to be tough decisions. So he took this upfront, obviously, because it was not really fair for him to choose players right now because there was no time. But it's going to be interesting. I don't know whether it's the cold, Derek, but I can see tears rolling down his face. He's talking about the emotion of tomorrow. Indeed. Derek, where would you put your highlighter pen? I think in terms of this game, if you're looking at the two clear factor, I think that really is one of the big highlights, because we've seen Bayern often enough this season under yuriya nagos man, we know how he liked to play. To us took her to me is the ultimate pragmatist. And he's taking charge of a team that is already in place, but he will want to tweak one or two things. Now, the great thing is speaking right now, Archie and arnett, we don't know what he's going to want to tweak precisely, but it won't be the nagelsmann style. And what he did at Chelsea was admirable. He solidified them. And I think there's an element of having to do that with this bion team. But there are other factors at play

"And the Potter it's absolutely horrendous. So I really believe that there is one game they're going to win and maybe change the mood of the team and the dressing room hopefully. Is that a good enough reason made them? They have to win a game sometime. Yeah, to be honest, my prediction in this one, so it's a sort of my reason for predicting that too too in the last game. And it's just because like ten Liverpool and Chelsea, both struggled overall this season. But I just feel like I can't not bail them at some point. And I think for Chelsea, even though they score and I think two goals in what feels like forever. I just feel like they can do it, especially because it's at home and the second is against haven't got the best defensive record and they're not exactly in the best moment now either. So I just keep thinking with this held that Chelsea have at some point all happen. So be up and say this is the last three months, but I just can't separate myself from it and also like nobody else can either. So I'm going for I think it's a two nil win and yeah, I'll probably be proven wrong again. Everybody loves Chelsea, which is why everybody's got them gone for a win, right? Banks rate, yeah. Why have you got them going for a win? I don't quite understand how we get to two goals though, right? Look, at this point, basically they've got school tour. Well, first, you've got to score one. And this theme has been proven that they can do that. But I will say that even if it is an unknown goal, Chelsea will take a win even if it is on an angle, right? You'll take it any way you can. There are desperate for a result. That's why I think it's grindel, stressful, ugly, but one nothing nonetheless for Chelsea. Stevie. Pretty much everything the boys have shared. A lot of us don't percentage. It's nothing to do with playing. I mean, clean sheets and leads just don't go in the same sentence pretty much, and they've got one last week, which is bad news for them, because it probably can't do it two weeks in a row, which means Chelsea will score. And I said, maybe. That's what I'm clinging on to. I'm clinging on to you. They've got your score eventually. All right, let's take a look at another big game. Coming up at the weekend, then Newcastle have just lost in the final of the carabao cup, and now here's your reward. You get to go to the Etihad to take on Manchester City. Just to look at the odds for this one, and once again, it is winds across the Bard from the panel, everybody saying that city will win them. Do you think that carabao Coppola will affect Newcastle?

"Those next games as well. A couple of those coming up worth talking about. But as it stands Borussia Dortmund will go to sleep on Friday night as legally leaders with Bayern Munich playing against stutz on Saturday. Let's get word then from Archie in top because obviously he was the man speaking to everybody after the game. It feels special. Is that definitely the way it is to be there as well Archie right now? I think so okay. Something really struck me was when at half time we were speaking to a journalist here from Dortmund and he was saying that it's reminding him about this is Jürgen Klopp times actually. And that for me is telling you the kind of mood that is around Dortmund right now. It is something which is brewing. And I can feel it in the stadium and there's moments that are going for them, like Nico clearing off the line with his shoulder, but also the way that they continue to roll with the punches. Thinking about Gregor cobol, he's been so important for them in goal. He's out of the game 5 minutes before because he pulls up with a muscular injury, and yet Alexander Maya comes in, and he makes a brilliant save. Which you wouldn't really back him to make. And it's just those little moments that make you think, maybe it could be Dortmund's year. Yeah, it's interesting. The stats are backing up the whole Jürgen Klopp era as well. The last time they went on a run of 8 straight wins under a single coach in the Bundesliga was under Jürgen Klopp in the 2011 2012 season, they did go on to win a domestic double. They nearly let it slip today, LA. Yes, they did. Look, I really like what it was called dorm room in the first half. They gave a couple of half chances to early on, but then after that, they really dominated the game. And they were very good about process and information. And problem solving on the field and figuring out where are the spaces? What it was clear to see that the spaces were out wide, particularly behind the space left open by Marcel halstenberg. Once they figured that out, they just exploited that time and time again, whether it was Mario's wolf, Julian Brad, Mark Royce, whoever peeled into the space usually was open. And then you're able to play through Bellingham. He then distributes a played out why and you solve the dormant creating chance of the chance after chance, scoring a couple of goals. I didn't like the approach in the second half. I understand that you want to perhaps get organized behind the ball and that source of pressure invite Leipzig and then go on the counter. That's all fine and well as long as you go on the counter. What happened is that Dorman invited Leipzig, but then they forgot to play that ball that first outlet pass so

Gates and Manchester United, but don't worry, Stevie, you can breathe for just a moment. Because first, we're going to talk about a big game in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund taking on Avi Leipzig a battle at the top of the table between two of the title rivals. We're going to pick it up in the 13th minute when Borussia Dortmund thought they had gone ahead through the man at the moment, Julian Brandt's but this one was called out for handball. Well, it's not lucky because it's a lovely little bowl through from barium. And there's no question that does just glance these right arm. Julian brunt there. Can complain. It does is a good finish, but it doesn't count. No, it does not. And so it went back to L nel and before that, we had seen a couple of chances from Christopher and Kung fu getting his first start of 2023. Here we see him take down Marco rice, receives a yellow for this. Should it have been a red LA? I think it's fortunate to stay on the field. It's a really bad talent. He just doesn't catch him cleanly enough, but the ball is nowhere near. He is in danger in the opponent. I think that it should have been a red car. Says a little bit. Well, we don't know what he said. But I'm sure he was just saying I'm sorry. I did not mean it. Then Michael rose gets this side of penalty. Easy decision for the referee. Good little run in behind. He's got past the keeper. Definitely clips him. Cassie's himself with his left foot and don't eat gauze. He steps up. Converts. He becomes the second all time goal scorer in the Dortmund history level with Mikhail's off. And apparently that's what that's perfect. Edinburgh, which definitely like that one. Soon enough, it was going to be two nil. It's a poor clearance foreign solo slide that puts it into the passive Android ten. He's hanging around top of 18 yard box, hits it straight into the ground, goes through a lot of bodies. Last week doesn't react on time by the time he sees the ball. It's too late. Tuna. We're going to see Marco rice far save out of blasphemy here. I mean, that was him. As soon as it left his foot, it looked but what I super the last second keeper gets his left hand up, tips it over the cross bar. We did see a much stronger Leipzig in the second half and they did get one on the board. The slaughter bank keeps everybody on the side as a ball is being played over at the top by schlager and one slaughter that keeps everybody on sight. He does have an opportunity to clear out the danger but he says, you know what? Let me double down. It goes between the legs of the slaughter bag onto the sliding male force. Lots of actors make up for his mistake by protecting his goalkeeper here. Yeah, it's good defendant. Gets back to back his goalkeeper off. And that ball looks gold bone then he gets his shoulder in the way and knocks it clear. The cars came after that, 5 Berg, very close here. It's a really clean volleys. The problem is here it's straight out Alexander Meyer. Anywhere to the side is a goal, it's a really well run of the goalkeeper. And so Borussia Dortmund held on and are now perfect in all competitions in 2023, that's ten games in total, 8 in the Bundesliga, archer and tot was pitchside for us. He spoke to Ed in tereza after the game. How did that feel for you when the final whistle went today? Great. Very simple. It was a very important win for us. It was a very good first half. We played some really good stuff in the first half. And in the second half, it was about defending. And we did it very passionate.

"Will stop in the bundesliga and you might think well. Why are we buying one. Four now against god. What's the big deal i miss. The big deal is afonso davies of buying sent off in the twelve. Th minute nil nil ten minutes later buying a three nil up welcome in fueled softer reflects on something. And i don't think i've ever seen before. Well this is sad day for german football because they have said that if buying played with ten players they will be beatable so they tried that today. Davis was rightly sent off after wa wa in the wind because he got a yellow. I and eleven does scale and robbery miller. The restaurant just did something. That is like unbelievable. There were four nil suddenly against the stupid cat team. That is later. Be quite good. Foam unbelievable to watch and just show you this buying team got that extra gear that i can use. They often down but it come back dortmund zero to winning four two champions league. They just win when i want to win. A now stood tried another thing. Eleven gets ten still losing four nil at the psychology from both sides. Yan here well. First of all studio will have a good conference. They're coming to 'alliance now now fans there. I think well we can have a chance. We've seen gerona result home advantage. Not as good as it usually is and a ban on their side. Thank you i will. We have to concentrate because our lives winning the day before and then stood would want more. They think well no. We really have a chance. But what do they do their team. Levin does get a team they just take another gear up. I think okay. No we have to concentrate. No we have to play quicker. We want to touch. We have to give a loverdos even better the ball here to goals and the ending a hat trick

Come from behind to take all three points and it's a win that puts some back to the top of the table livestock winning earlier on in the day however by munich remain two points clear at the top of the bundesliga

Call on that. The difference by munich on picking up the three points and what it means in the boondocks league table is the firing are now ten points clear of second place. They probably could and should have been three octane. This game could have been over but it wasn't me dope ski obviously missing. The penalty was huge. And as i said the longer it went on the stock to to get closer and closer culminating with two minutes to go all the way through hostage score but just just weighed. In the game's over.

Dortmund's Descent Continues
"Things really on looking so great photo that has been right now. They are slipping down to the table. They're out of the top four. Yon i have to say. Is this turning into something more serious something of a crisis documents. It is absolutely a first of all. It was a great great football game. Six goals to haul on goals very predictable is also predictable. That's dalton at the moment defense. Leaving are terribly sad. To watch is like matsumoto's is a world champion. He can't defend he's going forward. He's doing well he can do is cry trick at the end. But you have to defend and you don't have a goalkeeper bilkees terrible at the moment i'm in the second goalkeeper must think what should i do to get a game heats in this again because that was unbelievable. Three three set-pieces. They conceded just sad to watch them. They fired father. Because i wanted to get closer to buy an i mean. Is there a lucky this week and it could be the eighth position and they say tests which we're going to stay for the season. Well let's see what's going to happen in dolt when there's a crisis on the funniest thing an interesting thing marker also the coach gladbach winning two today great coach. He is the favorite to take over. But i into summer so there have to do something without to moment is at a case of defenders optional defense optional today defending and really in key moments. They go down one. Nothing all right but early how who again was outstanding in that first half in the way that he took his goals the first goal is little dinky over the top finished good movement of the ball the second goal on a resource in terms of knowing where the goal is turns finishes that play and it's two one and his dorm his flying. They feel good about themselves. And now you give up a free gig. Tumbled eighteen yard box and as yang alluded to it. Well larson they'll takes a fricking that should be comparable for burke. Even if he sees the ball late it should become for at least for him to palm the ball away instead. He comes right into a very. Who's right there for a nice little tapping to refine. Okay no problem. Let's see if we can build some momentum going into the second half were never going to build momentum when you allow been so you need to do what he did from the left hand side over eleven he cuts to lane. I'm candy ones. That poor defending julian brian. Kanji now stands on the six year. Box hands in the bag. This okay and he never never concerns himself with actually close in the space down and actually challenge in been to a third goal and from then on england toco for two but overall you just send from brusett norman. Dad did defending is just so disorganized so straight. The games are exciting to watch when doorman place because there is a lot of space. And why is there a lot of space. Because they're this organiz all over the place some people go on and press the ball or the people drop off at times. That team gets gets gets straight and a time when they tried to defend. Never get behind the ball in enough numbers. There is no sense here. When you watch this team play defensively and you could say the same thing for him. Which and god by the way that you have a plan defensively. This is what we're going to do. This is our line of confrontation. We're gonna high present. We have an opportunity to do so. We're going to drop off behind the ball when when we have to do so. They're kind of running all over. And when you just run all over you get exposed and when you get exposed and you have no confidence that windows in have right now you lose

Looking back: Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool, 1995
"Fa cup like little bit sparkle so far. So we thought we'd take you back to one. Thousand nine hundred tottenham against liverpool anfield jurgen klinsmann score in the winter to see spurs book. A place in the semifinal yorgen and robbo back with me. What was striking when you take a look at the goal is the celebration in the complete ecstasy from those on the bench for the spurs fans in attendance. It kind of brings you back to more of a day where you feel the. Fa cup was was more. Relevant was a bit extreme. I think you know. Obviously if the fans in the stands it's a whole different game and all suffering covid at the moment but but I i mean the experience. I had In those years in in england definitely river meaningful in terms of the fa cup Is a religion fully english. People is is is so important. Sometimes i mean. At least a tottenham my days it was almost more important than championship and And then when it happens maybe by accident that you win you know a quarterfinal game at liverpool. And they haven't won for many years and enfield road then then things are going bit out of control but you can just. You can just see how much it means to you to the fans to your your teammates as well it was going to be when goals spurs and when you're looking back not only. It was a very special moment that you obviously won the game identity. But but i never will forget that at that situation at that moment was just the way. The liberal ville faints basically on so we went to our corner. A lot of tottenham fans were and we we think them and applauded them. And and i will never forget. I turned around and i thought okay. The rest of the stadium is probably gone by because out there for ten minutes or something but they weren't there at the stadium was still packed and then we turned around and walked towards locker room and the whole stadium stood up and gave us standing ovations to liverpool. Fans did that. And that's what kind of i never experienced anything like that before. My career never ever afterwards because It shows you the understanding of the english fans when an away team is that given day a little better and then comes away with a win and they they all know al performance and there was something very unique in my my time when you speak to anyone who's played of that generation genuinely they say it was on a par with championship. Is that fair. It was it was above the championship. I'll give an example. If we played mentioned united home at highbury in a league match. You'd get thirty. Five thousand in the faa get sixty thousand and My biggest memory is an biggest atmosphere. That i played in was an fa cup semifinal against mentioned united played at villa park there was sixty thousand there and when we arrived to the ground to hop us one went out onto the pitch. At two o'clock the ground was full. The atmosphere was unbelievable. It was it was. It was meant to be a tough game. Pitches weren't particularly good. It was played on a bumpy pitch but the atmosphere was incredible. It was it was really what everybody wanted to win. And we could. We get to the fun on fortunate. We lost the game two one but it was It was always sticks in my memory will be the atmosphere both hostile and in terms of the just the noise that came out the ground.

They have hundred goals hundred goals directly from seventy one seventy two season. I think was hundred. One and eleven dusky getting thirty four goal. They've had a fantastic season, not only winning two titles so kind of dominant, but also getting a young team out there they have. They have a new generation of young players. There are more to expect to come on so that don't terrifically. I just thinking that the violence wasn't Nolan season that we would have had to Champions League. Finish there would be my great great favorite to win that one as well, but now we have to see how this July month and a half of the August would have to do on their form. If I know the Germans well, they would probably be unbelievable prepared for that, too. Meanwhile! How much do we give Dortmund apart? And then there was nothing state for this game. Or how much do we say come on? You know it's still a match. You still got pride that yeah off nine. Come in and do what they did. It's embarrassing the goalkeeper Burke you said after the game that maybe we attitude of course relaxed winning mentality that they. At by him, that was embarrassing. J. devante joins us this morning J. J. good morning Hey what is going on are we supposed to be talking about your twenty twenty at the summer I should be in studio what you're wearing a flowery sharks and instead it's what seven o'clock in the morning on drinking a Cup of tea talking about the premier league back in June none of this makes sense I know it's so aggravating that we we are not on the normal soccer schedule or the normal sports schedule but such is life and today the the premier league's return follows the Buddhist leaders returning that was one of the first leagues to come back what is been your early impressions of the way that Buddhist league has returned and one of their biggest evasions which was the fox broadcast pumping in the crowd noise even though there's no fans in attendance I haven't wanted to get back at D. is beyond believable it it's being largely enjoyable except the inevitable happened on Bayern Munich have won it and I think a lot of that this team has gone out of it a little bit as for the the crowd noises and and that of being pumped in I mean we've got a mixed reaction from people on there are the purest they hate this but to be honest with you typically the Germans have done it in a way where even I you would just before the game to be played let's not pretend they're found in the stadium it is what it is I even being won over by it in the in the Bayern Munich Borussia Dortmund game they got things down to such a fine level of ice boys broadcasting back when there was a tackle and I free kick was given against Borussia Dortmund's working Dorman were supposed to be playing at home but there was no home fans they had the perfect noise for the fans jeering the referee so whoever is operating the system in the Bundesliga again as set such a high standard for anybody else to follow on to try and get right they were pitch perfect when the ball hit the back of the net the crowd noise sounded as close to what it would sound like in a real game which stands full of supporters saw that I mean the Bundesliga's got it right in terms of of having you know just soccer back to give the watch a diplomacy has been great D. A. it's been really good to watch now look one thing I I'm about to start reading an article that just just being dropped this morning by a journalist in England who said on average there's been more individual errors and mistakes since the bonus **** restarted in the stadiums without fans so that's really interesting to me if there isn't fans in the stadium because of course the players on the field they can't hear those fake crowd noises if there if there isn't style at fans in the stands does not affect the concentration levels and that the article basically says Dr probably be a lot of mistakes on the restart in the premier league which I mean mistakes are full and that's the honest and that's a fascinating psychological question if we're watching on TV it feels normal to us because as you said they're doing such a good job with riding the levels of the crowd noise it also they've had signage around the lower bowl of the stadium so we don't see a lot of the empty seats but that if the players themselves are creating or for making more mistakes because they're not as focused have you noticed that it's been sloppy play watching the Buddhist legal or even to your train die it hasn't really been all that evidence I honestly don't think I have noticed it per se what I have noticed this kind of a drop off in intensity a little bit I so you know that I suppose that's natural after a three month layoff when players come back that it's not quite as intense but I'm wondering if you play a pressing style of soccer if you're looking to press the full back the defender when he's in in possession of the ball just the crowd kind of carry you along on that because they'll be involved in that process you know they'll be screaming that bit harder they'll be shouting Baptist longer during the price when you went back then there's a big surge of excitement does this all key players heightened and when that isn't there does it slightly become a training exercise in the that there's another point is that it's such a leveling what we believe crowded you know crowd noises on taxes on Kroger such a leveling concept in soccer for example one paramedic one to play Niamh Berlin I think it was nil nil and only on had a chance to get a penalty that wasn't given and with no crowd noise if you imagine the jeering the hostility you know the referee would probably be you know under pressure although they had a video assistant replay maybe he's under a little bit more pressure but you know fourteen like union Berlin who are not a big side burn unit coming into town one of the things that they can do is have a really hostile crowd in a small stadium right on top of the field and they didn't have that and at four thirty if for example are shaving off ten percent of their there I suppose in their modeling for away games in the premier league ten percent because there will be no fans so obviously it's significant J. "The PS cheap Russia Dortmund match. Remember Dortmund with a two one lead in the first leg going into that second leg in Paris. Who has the advantage going into this game? Given that there will be no home support. I have to imagine as producer. Dorman not only do they have the advantage and the score but now they're going to play a game. That is not really an away game. It's more of a neutral site game if you will because you don't have the environment of the stadium now. Be G can argue so you know what this. Our stadium is a locker room. It's our surroundings but it's a really run. This is not what you're used to is not getting the feedback from your crowd from your supporters understanding that your performance urine estate and that you're going to get that immediate feedback generated from your supporters. Now you could also argue. If you WANNA make this point that you're not going to get the anxiety offense that no you have to score goals then no you're trailing in the scoreboard and that may be pushed you to do silly things out on the field because they get desperate. You'll also get desperate as well if you're up to missed four G. and Europe player that it's trying to deal with this mentally. Maybe that's the way you portrayed and you tell you you tell yourself in your mind you know what we just going to go out and play. And we're a better team. Racing Without Gambling
"I'm guessing you've heard of the Kentucky Derby Abi to this race that's run usually early in May we haven't yet talked about the Kentucky Derby this year but that's about to change as we're finally starting to get into rounds of prep races that will winnow the field down to twenty for the run for the roses on May the second so to help us do that. We bring in voice. We haven't heard on this show for too long and and that's Jonathan Listener who writes for horse racing nation. Welcome back Jonathan. So before we get into a few specific horses. WHO's impressed you the most so far on the triple triple crown trail? I think Dennis moment to start the list. Dentists moment strikes to lead right at the top of the stretch at Delta. Two lanes lead our three lately for the final final furlong. Dennis this moment with five length lead scabbard with clear sailing up the second but Dennis moment kicks off the road at the Kentucky Derby in a big way. He barely moved a muscle. That we we have it. RESTRAINING NATION DOT COM user generated Kentucky Derby contender rankings and despite his trouble that experience career dentist moment has not left that number. One spot. You talking about a grade three winner. Who was going to be the favourite the Breeders Cup Juvenile L. Stumbles out of the gate? You know he could be undefeated if you look back at his debut he lost his jockey was really no fault zone so he has the two losses and between between them. He's sandwich to really really nice. Looking victories including his debut at Ellis Park they won by like nineteen and a quarter lengths. I think it was so there's a lot of potential there and he's one that I feel like every once in a while you hear about a derby prospect before they make their debut and then we kind of latch onto them I wanna say it was probably roadster roadster last year because Baffert said he could be his next justify American Farrow and obviously it didn't work out there but they'll Romans has talked up Dennis's moment since before he he ran a race. And so we're we're kind of going to the same thing here As far as a couple of other runners eight rings also out of the Breeder's cup juvenile. He's a really interesting. One didn't really run his race. You know the last time we saw him but I think the way he's going to be handled this season. You have to keep paying attention trained by Bob Baffert. He's he's GonNa run him in the rebel at Oaklawn. And then the Arkansas Derby potentially there as well and then another one that you know kind of on the fence about that you know. He's got a lot of towns. Is Max `field scratched from the Breeders Cup Juvenile. He had a little bit of an issue. There it turns out we found out a couple of weeks after that that he had had a minor surgery for a bone chip. But he's not even in serious training now. Well he's he's he's apparently galloping No works yet and so I think they'll have to do the to A. Ah kind of schedule where you hope to get race out of them and then you have a more serious race which I would expect to be something like the blue grass stakes if everything works out well and he's undeniable town. I'm and I think he's GonNa win a major race somewhere down the road. I don't know if it's going to be the Kentucky Derby and then the other one I feel like it's gotten all the conversation is independence hall at at Independence Hall now makes his move. Independence Hall is the leader getting away to lead by two prints of Pharaohs has moved up on the outside. It's Bourbon Bay Independence All L. linked and a half as they come for the quarto prints of Pharaohs on the outside Bourbon Bay. It is independence hall with the lead and now a furlong to the finish Jose Ortiz showing them the whip now goes to work on independence hall. WHO has a three likely? Just a sixteen to the finish at. It's the constitution called Independence Hall. Tailwind Jerome by four Knights won the national stakes by open links came back and won the jerome. It was a little more workmanlike. But he's going to go. Oh into the new year here as another one of the favorites and if I could talk about one more that has sort of attracted my attention a little bit. It's this ancient warrior horse. I don't know what his path is going to look like. He's Jerry Hall android or for trainee. And if you follow racing at all the last year or so. You'll know that. He's SORTA become embattled. Dan from the strike. Group's tracks out in California But I of all these horses that have won maiden races and we'll be going to the stakes. I want to watch that one closely. He's moved him over to Oakland Park. We should see him in an allowance. Race coming up at the beginning of February and then from then on he should be on the Derby trail else. That's one that that I definitely want to see more of well. You mentioned Bob Baffert. And it's tough to talk about the Kentucky Derby Trail Without Bob Baffert and he has a lot more than the one you mentioned. There's thousand words who ran a big race in the low sal futurity. I'm a Roger Federer Fan but you have to give it up for an doll who is also ambassador trainee. Who looked really really good? So I mean you know Bob Baffert certainly knows how to get horses to the Derby mean how many of these prospects aspects of pan out. I see a path for all of them. To be honest. You know and we also have mentioned authentic. It's still authentic coming to the three the eight ball. He's been in control throughout leads by a length and a half to uncaptured hero. It's all authentic as they pass the quarter pole and turned for home authentic and complete Khaliq Command turning it on. He's in front by sex with a furlong left to go. Zimba Warrior and Assault Coast as authentic is putting on a show. Here is a little green gene shifting about but long gone authentic strolls home in the sham. He'll win by about eight lakes green. It's Grafton stretch and just kept going there and another extremely impressive Horse Nidal I. I wonder about him a little bit. You know we've only seen him one time on Sunday and that six and a half for a long race he he looks like Dortmund Ortmann if you go back to two thousand fifteen big horse. That wasn't extremely fast out of the gate but once he got into stride he went straight to the pace and never really let up there. Yeah it's not not really the kind of horse you want to win the Derby but I think you could get to the Derby and then thousand words certainly has every reason to move forward his last race. I think they had probably a little bit the too much blinker on him and he ended up going head to head with that no door that ran in the Breeders Cup juvenile second. I think it's SORTA legitimize both of those horses that they ran so closely in the future. But I think thousand words is probably at least a couple of lengths better then a no door. He just probably didn't see him in the stretch until Flavian Kinda guided him out and it's like Oh with the blinker. The horse realized he had something to run against a win on. So I guess when you talk about horses that I'm looking at in the new year. Thousand Words is definitely on that shortlist list to Jonathan Listener of racing. Nation is with us here on the gate. We've talked a little bit about the Breeders Cup juvenile which was a topsy turvy race. You had three big horses that we've mentioned into all had their problems that day. We haven't talked about the horse. Who Wanted Storm the court for trainer Peter Martin and that would be a very popular win in the racing business? As you know what chance do you give storm the court to back up what he did in the juvenile. Oh probably not much not a lot of black type in the family. I'm not sure if there's any black type from Stanley I'd agree wise. And then you know he was obviously the beneficiary of other horses stumbles in that race You Know He. He goes gate to wire was not really pressed a whole lot and at the same time. I think they took the blinker. They put their blinkers on. I'm sorry and I have not a fan of lemon. That put blinkers was on a horse at that point in their career. I feel like you should be taken them off so that they can relax. Prepare to go a little bit longer. I think that race and the circumstances just all all came together for storm the court and allowed him to upset that race. It's forty five to one. Whatever he ended up that day I'm sort of in agreement? I think with everybody else that the the the better Derby Derby prospect was no door and second in that race going forward. I want to mention because these races have just happened. Enforceable label for Mark Cassie. Who is not missed? A beat after a son norm went out on his own. He had been his father's chief assistant and enforceable. Really good winning the Lecomte. But we haven't seen too many Lecompte winners. Go on to run well in the Kentucky Derby. Where do you put me as a tap it colt out of a dixie union in marriage? The breeding is good. I put him a really high on my list. As far as forces will be in the Derby but I would not put him on my list of forces that I think can win the Derby and I say that because of his running style you know if we go back to almost every year that the point system has been effect and obviously gets rid of those pure your sprinters. It's the horses that can put themselves near the front at the beginning of the race and keep that pace up and never be caught by closers that tend to win the Derby enforceable enforceable is one of those closers. It's inevitable that he's GONNA run into traffic problem you know. I almost hope he sneaks into the Derby and everybody overlooks. Because I feel like he's the kind of horse could come into the super factor. That's probably going to be a really common line of thought. Though I mean I'm thinking a few months out but the soup perfect You know in the era of a favorites winning the Derby is as remain because it's pretty high minimum of really profitable wager for people nonetheless so yeah for me. He's a super effective player. I I I think he's GonNa be okay as the distance is longer obviously is a full brother Mohammed and a half years day. There's a lot there in the pedigree just really impressive on paper and it was good to see him run as well as he did you know He. He broke his maiden at nine furlongs last summer at Saratoga and it looks like okay. Here's a real two year old and I you know he ran into you. Go into a little bit shorter and the breeder security at keeneland and Max field because two things came together and got him beat but he's definitely better horse than he showed that day and it was good to see him back it up the trump

"Start though in the Bundesliga classic lying taking on Borussia Dortmund Ruben. Dos Gift goalscoring for fun of Les Rois on the the bench for this one. The business seventeen minutes saying dose gave cooler born chat. WanNa know who was on. This is just routine. There's another initiative cross gets cutoff. You just continues is run by head back in space very good header yet again. So don't mean look into reorganize get things sorted as we kick off the second half. What sixty seconds in the back of the net just by Munich counterattacking talking with peace? Or nearly she doing that to opponent. This time the mets fourteen minutes ago in the game DOS game. We'll make it three now. Looks routine but this I touch was something special. It's high awkward. Takes on the inside of the Thi- perfectly in stride then finish nine nine to rub salt into the doorman wounds Hummel's with a own goal to make it four now stretching. I mean this kind of tells the story the Doorman Lindsey evening. It's that kind of day for Braschi Dogma. By Munich for Borussia Dortmund nail is how finishes such a strange sport because you look at buying and the way they play today and you think one fading having any sort of problems because they absolutely brilliant and new manage bonds for coming in well not coming. He's been this but all of a sudden he's been hiding under the reince whether some temporary or permanent or to the season we we. You figure that out in in time but share reaction from the team here. He makes a couple of changes to the starting lineup. I think as a team you see by you looking back to their best individually the they look happy it seems as far more more more cohesive being said Dortmund plead. They're part goodbye mimic looked. But if you're by Munich especially given the week that you had not you've got a couple of weeks tax international. Judy Acer greet we to go into the outbreak. On the back of what is normally the biggest game in your in your calendar every single Bundesliga game this season. Recent recent Champions League match as well is absolutely ridiculous for some time. We've been seeing that the best number nine and we'll football right and again and I always have to add the caveat that we don't consider them as your number nights but he has been the without question the best and still you see him continue to do that and you think from me with love and dump scheme has has instincts are better than anybody else's his finishing is better than anybody else's and he's doing it with a consistency not I'm just this season. You mentioned his record this season. But we've seen that for quite some time whereas ordinarily even with the best trackers the so reliant on on on service that they have ups and downs that they have purple patches on this little yet. Somehow Eleven doff ski and you show it today and we. He took those two goals. Not Great Boys in finds himself in space yes but he still had a lot to do in creasing bridge himself yourself and then he makes you finish look show easier the end of it. I mean it really is something temperature to with to behold is interesting. You mentioned in a couple of changes the surprise inclusion Danes Brain in this game. He did ungodly start exactly as cleanup against Jin Sancho who had to come off in the first off. No Riyadh Raff Hunt. Eckstein who who was at the game said Sancho came of a hamstring been struggling or the game long now just from from my perspective looking at it on the television screen. I just thought that all that someone with a hamstring injury jogging off the park doc and then as a cameras followed him on the sidelines. There was nobody there weakening with a bag of ice it it just those two things didn't didn't connect for me that being said I'm Dave Gibney start in a difficult game on was simply sensational by and got the start that they wanted. They got the goals. Ah Give them a little bit of a of a gap team to play with a certain freedom but then again that comes with a manager a new manager bosses and mentioned but having Africa clear pound. And knowing what you want to do and everybody buying into that which I feel Karachi had lost I think through his own feelings and not through non necessarily through to that team. I just folk lost the respect of digestion. I lost out sometime time last season and it was spinning in what you show inconsistent performances Boyd only by eleven scoring telling the one of the biggest matches of the season and Philip Casinos on the bench. Yeah that's a very big call to make. That is a very big call to me continue. Who came in and plead with a freedom when when he first arrived on you thought he was a piece that was missing and that opportunity? I took club like by Munich for him to play in behind the striker in the whole with the freedom and everybody kind of looking for him with the ball was the opportunity he wanted. But if it doesn't fit into the plans then you have to make those big plays respect that as much as players wanted to see the big names of Rome them the respect a manager who has a plan and asserts himself is the main influence of that plan. I I can't you saw that. Meanwhile dolman seen this before we got into the classic Chance really to assert yourself and you get beaten off the pop. Yeah I'm beating Battle of the park and and for for dormant as much as they're still in still early enough in the season that it can be rescued a lot tonight. No you saw so nothing today at and maybe a little bit of a hangover offering them a very cheap. Excuse here after coming back from two down against Inter Milan in the Champions League. But but then if you're a skeptic or you're a cynic you say well you shouldn't be too don't intervene. Yeah in the first place but it quite clearly shows that don't have their issues and when you come up against a team like by Munich who don't let you back in. Then you have the. You have a lot of problems

Chelsea and Tottenham battle to keep their flatlining seasons alive
"Wednesday three o'clock. This is probably the one that you'll be circling for your mid week slate, you be circling Chelsea and Spurs someone is really gonna feel bad about themselves. When this once, I know will it be you. Recent history will tell you. Yeah. Probably the bridge too. Yeah. Typically, not fared well there. Yeah. I wouldn't I wouldn't like to actually call this one. 'cause I'm sure there's a little bit of residuals from the weekend that will impact this game two and boy Tottenham they just they keep getting themselves to the edge, and they just refuse to take that next step. They just can't do it. I don't know what it is got dashed like they did in a year where Burnley has not been Burnley like the, you know, sound defensively nine there were a little bit more resurgent known in the last couple of months. Did you watch any of the Tottenham Burlingame? I only saw highlight because there were two refereeing decisions that came under the microscope in this. It was Mike dean, of course, it was obviously. But there was the one that led to Burnley's first goal when they ruled it out a play on for Tongan gave Burnley corner that was a tough one even on the replay. I mean, it was definitely gone on the Bernie prayers. It was a goal kick. It set here and argue for an hour about handballs on the. That one didn't out on Burnley should be Tommy defend the corner web, though, did you know, no, they didn't. And then the one that like people want to use this as okay, we're even now because Danny rose took the throw in five yards further up field, and where it should have been. No, that's what we're going to start. The way will be like they were agrees of wrong and getting a corner kick off which the opposition scores. Getting that decision wrong and the stealing of yards from throwing which as. Like, there's I don't even know what the rule is. It's just whatever the linesmen referee goes back it. I mean, they're always step stolen north in ever happens from where it should of like booing, Danny rose every time he touch the ball. You throw in faith. The eight you will tell you. What though when I saw Harry Kane and the team sheet, I was like really is this necessary we've seen this before. But then he goes out plays. The goal is scored it not as I touch his second touch was amazing incredible. For just see how he's going to respond to that. No. I I just think with lingered and an and Kane who I am not having a go at medical professionals. I'm just saying what is the Rocher especially to when you're in the Champions League against Bruce Dortmund three-goal advantage or not. I don't care like you got to play your best team for that game. You've got Chelsea mid week, which is more important. I think than Burnley. I don't know. I was I was a little bit surprised to see his name on there. Now, they will have a little bit of a break out of the FA Cup, obviously. But yet I'm trying to just kind of enjoy Tottenham for what it is right now, they're not going to win the league. They're probably still going to like top four is not set in stone, obviously. But I feel good about the seven per China champion grow. No, right. Like one enjoy the. Champions League just in. This is a big win against Chelsea like just enjoy life showing your life as a Spurs. Yeah. Try not to let that Burnley game ruined. My my day it ruined several hours afterwards. But you move on because this season is what it is. And like try to enjoy this

Then just as the team was about to put the boy into a body bag Abudu on the boy's father rushed in and said, he changed his mind. He didn't want his son taken this way. That's when the mood in the crowd shifted from curious to menacing in an instant the team immediately backed off started taking off their suits as quickly as they dared to Bramall be fear. It's just fear. The worst you're trying not to look like you're rushing because showing fear will provoke the crown. You're also trying to get out before someone throws the first rock because you know, once that happens everyone will start throwing in his team did manage to drive off in time. But the DS's government reports that health workers are being threatened like this three or. Or four times a week, partly it's because many people in the communities where Ebola is now spreading had never heard of it. So they're resistant to giving up their loved ones to these strange people in scary, plastic suits, but there's another issue. She's predom- is a senior analyst with International Crisis Group local population is very distrustful of the government. Even though this part of the DRC has a lot of mineral wealth, people are desperately poor many believe the ruling authorities only care about exploiting the wealth for themselves. We haven't seen anything from this government. Perhaps most of all they are furious that for years now, multiple armed rebel groups have roomed the area, and neither the central government, nor a United Nations peacekeeping force. That is thousands strong has offered much protection just ten days ago. One of these groups reportedly killed fifteen civilians and kidnapped a dozen children. And so says done when an authority figure be it from the government or a foreign health worker shows up to warn about Ebola. There's a questioning. Of whether this outbreak is even real know, whether they're ulterior motives that. The government has also after pretty much every attack by a rebel group people in the affected town or city had been staging street protests during which he Bola responders or forced to hunker down that includes health workers who would normally be tracing anyone who has had contact with an infected person.
