"27 minutes before the top of the hour and the end of the broadcast. Thanks for being with us. I'm going to let this last 27 minutes be yours will kind of play open lines here. I could go back to a number of different stories we've covered today, but I want you to decide and you tell me. Oh, what was that all about? I don't want to hear that anymore. Now I think I think we lost our Skype. Connection to get on video. So will restore that during the next break, But for now, As I said, I don't want to steer the conversation in any one direction. I want you to decide. So Dallas up at eight Prager 776. That's 877243 77 to 76 any question that you've got any comment that you want to make, and especially if you would like to kind of continue the discussion I had before talking to Patrick would And that is, Are you willing to live with Covid being like the flu? It just it being and you know, being endemic to our culture, our lifestyle, our air just the way that the flu is they'll be. You know, tougher seasons than not with respect to, you know, flu season like we have now there will be tough for Covid seasons, but there will always be around and can always be infecting people. It is a very, very low mortality rate. Are you willing to live with it? Or must we Change the way we live. Not just now, but forever. By becoming a nation of fearful people hiding our mouths and our noses and breathing our own. Co. Two from now until the end of time. Hiding inside of of our homes, showing everybody our medical records when you try to go to dinner or into a club or into an arena or to get on a plane or to get on a bus. Showing that you've had the latest shot, which may or may not be the one that stops this particular variant from infecting you just the way we do with flu. I played you that clip from Dr Sanjay Gupta last hour. He and other doctors, including former CDC director Robert Redfield, say the that covid 19 is not going to go away. We're never going to do what Joe Biden said. And that is beat the virus back and end the virus. The era of Covid 19. It's here to stay. The question is, how do we want to live with it like free people? Or like she pull, And quite frankly, that's it's a little blunt, but that's how that's what I feel like some people want to do. We're going to go to San Francisco. Now. Fred is on the Dennis Prager show. Fred. It's Bob France, sitting in for Dennis. Welcome. I think that I think there's almost karma that I'm calling today because I actually had lunch with J. D. Vance when he worked for Peter Sale. Is that right? And also I'm Yeah, I'm a physician. I'm ex military. I actually have an NIH grant at a small private there over ology company and I was in faculty at Harvard for eight years, and I was also at Walter Reed. And I worked with Robert Redfield used to moonlight the emergency department when he was at the research Institute. Just keep up as critical skills. Very good person, So I just want to make two comments. Okay, There is something we can do about the J. D. Vance Story. Did email him. What we need to do is we need to approach protests in front of Twitter and in front of the CEO of Twitter's house. These people are bullies, but bullies are usually very, very frightened people. They've never had the response that they need to get when they start censoring people politically and turning this in just on the state. We have a right to peacefully protest in front of Twitter. We have a right to peacefully protest Jack Dorothy's house. That's something that's so doable. I recommended the jade events that he tried to organize it. But if he doesn't we need to because this is exactly how Chavez and it took over in Venezuela and carved up Under Stalin has probably more credibility in the thirties. Then at this point, CNN and and Google and Twitter the way they are evident in the truth. I think you're right about that. Um, here. Here's the thing about the about the You know the protest idea given where they are, which is where you are in San Francisco, you would have to bus you know hundreds or thousands of people in from other parts of the country to be willing to protest because Jack Dorsey has a lot of support out there, does he not. No. No. Half The people in this state are absolutely sick of the system. Because of the human feces in the street, the criminals running riot. All the Asian elderly people have been Stabbed and killed and nothing has happened. People are fed up. It's a mafia system that controls the state, but have to say Yeah, but how fed up are they? If they're going to hold on? How fed up? Are they If they're going to, you know, keep keep Gavin Newsom in charge. I don't think they will unless it through cheating. You know, I don't trust the system. They've got that envelope problem we've heard about. I don't know if I believe the polls the polls to deter people. They said that Hillary was going to kill Trump in the 2016 election. Two dir people. Don't trust anything that comes out of the media in this state. And even if it's even if it's 30% of the state rather than 50, that's enough to have significant protests and we need to start These people are 30 year old punks who got lucky. I hate to say this who, you know, they may be brilliant at figuring out how to do a payment, Doctor. Doctor. I've got to run. I've got a hard break here, but I love your characterization of Dorsey is a 30.

"It into a ball. I asked him if he shows sweatshirt. Or something i can wear that. He got me a light. Blue silk hero shows. Joyce pulled the shirt over her torso. The man didn't give her any pants and then she followed him out of the bedroom. He didn't cover her. Is this time and thanks to a single light. He had left on in the kitchen. She was able to see the layout of the house. He led her threw it out the side door and onto the driveway. The moon just two days short of full painted the landscape with soft silver light. Joyce glanced around. She saw several bags of trash sitting next to the door. She noticed a carport but no garage and she saw the car or red mazda. The man led her over to the car and sat her down in the passenger seat. Right side up this time. He put his key in the ignition and turned it. The car's headlights popped up from the hood. Joyce made note of that detail. The car had flip up lights. The man backed out of the driveway then headed east in the moonlight. Joyce could see the looming figure of the wasatch mountains on the horizon unmistakable. Even at night but she wasn't sure exactly where in sunset they were. She caught a glimpse of a road. Sign that read two hundred west. The man made a few turns before ending up at a place. Joyce did recognize the on ramp. To the i fifteen freeway. At six fifty north in clearfield the city immediately to the south of sunset. The west gate of hill air force base sat just across the overpass. Joyce's sister dorothy house which she visited frequently was only a quarter of a mile or so to the southeast the pier where joyce had had dinner with her friend like spare just hours earlier was right down the road as well the man who had abducted her and repeatedly raped her seemed to be lost in thought as he steered the car onto the freeway. I'm really a nice person. He said after a time. I don't normally do things like this was feeling terrible. And he said. I probably won't ever get to see you again. I didn't even wanna tell them at that point that he was absolutely correct. Because i knew. I still wasn't home. Yeah to joyce it seemed. As though he was feeling remorse he took my hand held my hand and i said i have a feeling. You're probably a gentleman. Yeah he said. I'm the tights attempts roses and vice presence. You know those nice things. The type that sends roses the car continued. North every rotation of its tires bringing joyce that much closer to home. It exited the freeway and turned onto fortieth street. The peak of mount dogan looming five thousand vertical feet above.

That tree tradition dictated joyce. Take her children over to her sister. Dorothy house each christmas eve. The two sisters were known to gab for hours. You know when we were little bit cry because it was time to go. 'cause we were going to miss santa claus and they'd be laughing and carrying on we wouldn't be going and we'd be mad as kim and greg had grown. They had found themselves more and more a part of the family traditions. We'd begged to open one gift. Just egging begging begging then. They pay little strategy. You'd always get lame four bad cologne or something. Now that kim had a baby of her own born just two weeks before christmas. Joyce shifted her focus to her little granddaughter. Joyce just she bought her somebody. Christmas present by time christensen there. It was crazy and she just loved her You know most. It can open the gifts so she would open gifts a little bit and shore. You know like most really didn't care but the joyce got a lot of enjoy mad the early nineteen eighty s brought some hard years not only joyce but also for millions of people in the united states. The nation went through back to back recessions in eighty one and eighty two at its worst. The unemployment rate climbed above ten percent randy found a job in the shops of the utah transit authority. It required he work in salt lake city so he and kim moved south. I think it was kind of hard on her. Because kim was around a lot. Sweat comeback every weekend greg. Meanwhile had finished high school and enrolled at utah. state university. Come home on the weekends and she'd do my laundry impact me up with groceries. You know greg's dream of becoming a dentist. Had dimmed. Mel roberts told me. He encouraged his son to pursue a different path. His first quarter was in computer science. Any joyce split up with her longtime boyfriend nails and moved out of their condo. She landed in a small apartment. The bottom left-hand unit of a four plex on fortieth street in south ogden and she used to lay out in her front yard at the time and and after we had melissa she would be on the lawn in the summertime with melissa. Just just being a good grandma. Kim and randy. Welcome to second daughter melanie at the beginning of nineteen eighty two. Joyce and her sister. Dorothy would often make the two hour drive to west wendover nevada on the weekends where they would play the slots randy remembered wants running into her there while he was visiting wendover with his own parents. She would take alicia and leave when their fights became heated sometimes for a day sometimes for a week but he always lured her back late on the evening of january fourteenth. "I think thanksgiving and how it's like two different people. It was like this is so interesting. And i think it's mostly because that is not dorothy house so it's like oh i really she really. I can't that was over. I can't hold. I can just sell this cows right up from under you. She can't hold that on her more so she got to be like. Oh she really is adult in my is now even though it's like so would you give it a house for if you were just going to hold. I'm like girl is like she now has a husband who by the way chris. Bassett is literally chris number one show for me because the when he said you can talk to your wife. Anyway you want. You will not talk to mind that way. I'm like oh while i i mean that song. That's my type that's might. He's quick toward it. This is the thing first of all it must be said. I hope that he sought medical care for the brown. Dick's that's not normal. A medical professional about that. I hope he got that sorted out. I will never stop thinking about his brand. I feel like i feel like that. But i don't think that this is what makes him. Actually an excellent househusband is that he always. Let's candice fight battles. He is never getting involved. Like without needing only ever does is to protect her. Like okay what we're not gonna do. Go after ashley. I'm gonna sit on you. It's gonna be fine. Don't don't don't go too far. Don't go lets her fight his like they're over there. Having a finale fight this is what her job is. She's having the finale fight over here and he's doing what he's at the bar because he's like okay cool. She's earning that paycheck. She's gonna do what she's gonna do. And like i again can only imagine what the past couple months have been like for him as the supportive spouse as somebody who support them very leery so he was very very supportive. Because he didn't just it wasn't chrysanthemums. One that's embarrassing. He was like giving her tina next day. Are you okay. How are you feeling in with her on the cast trip. Don't worry so different. I'm like he was like performers. Like i'll know and you know he really does love her. He actually does care about her. You know like yeah. And i'm kinda glad she has risen highlight. Because i feel like it's a single this be a whole lot different..

"It was so loud please like I was in Dorothy's house in the wizard of oz the tornadoes it was so weird that you're the sounds I was trying to get some work done because I was you know I've been behind a little bit and I wanted to stay in my office wait as always I put on my headphones and I was listening to music yeah well I was looking for the a lot of you know new and interesting stories it's about take my mind off of the cover nineteen stuff and believe me it's when you're looking through the news it's it's just difficult to find out you know Amazing Stories to kind of relate and talk to you about but there were a few things that few things are on my mind that that some of the listener suggested I looked into it as I was mulling over the suggestions I was inspired to actually formulate a very chilling theory and you're gonna hear that tonight on the program the first suggestion I got is rather time we're talking about Kim Jong moon I I was most interested in looking into this connection between comments and the correlation of the fall of empires and that's leaders remember we did our eyes of Marshall talked about Calpurnia and how she told Cesar that you know comments you know kill leaders whatever comments are seen leaders die it's a car that was in this guide comments wanted now board he saw four was a twenty one border south twenty one Boris off there they've been a few suggestions that these comments may be apocalyptic harbingers for possible death since of leaders in Kim Jong moon of course you know we don't know if he's dead or alive he's kind of Schroeder's leader at the moment so Kim Jong moon you know if he if he has died or if he's you know seriously may die soon I mean that the connections you know a lot of A. listers retire you should ignore those connections the celestial the harbingers are something that have been around since the time of the Bible well I I'm certain that we don't have to put the cart before the horse here but like the man on the card the money python's holy grail he's not dead yet but as far as we know main course are many who are hopeful that the grim reaper will visit him soon what's that for a lot of people say that was with a you know what I what I did find this is interesting because I wanted to you know get into this I got some other things I want to cover but I don't know that there's there seems to be this scientific the debate right now over an anomaly would you looking into the interstellar what they call now well they're calling it an alien visitor they call it it's true that I mean what would they would like fighting tooth and nail to not call it more more visitors are now calling body soft twenty one forty softer calling that an alien visitor Avenue in Google for information on border soften curiously they call it an object composed of alien material or how I was acting in some unusual alien way and and and now apparently it's acting like a comet there was a comma to begin with there saying what is it is acting more more like a comet but here's the deal so gas coming our bodies off contain high amounts of carbon monoxide for more than comets formed in our solar system in indicating the object a large concentration of carbon monoxide ice in it so carbon monoxide courses a common gas in space eight you know eighty what informs it stated the icy area around the the fridge location of his comments in the presence of this carbon monoxide researchers have said suggested bodies are formed in a different manner than comments in our own solar system so it's a very cold outer region its home star system where this thing came out and so it came out in a place a lot cooler than the sun so the cop is like giving up these you know gas emissions that in reality are quite rare rare I mean even though the gases all over outer space just the idea of a comma.

"In one thousand nine hundred seventy eight eighteen year old. Dorothy Hoop straaten was a high school senior. Working at a dairy queen in Vancouver British Columbia single mothers struggled to provide for Dorothy and her two younger siblings so for the last four years ears. Dorothy worked at the CUE to help out by all accounts. She was hard working intelligent and stunning a fact that she he was completely oblivious to until during one of our shifts she match when he six year old Paul Snyder he walked into the shop wearing a long fur coat wrote lizard skin boots and gold and diamond jewelry. Dorothy was dazzled. She had never seen anyone so sophisticated he asked Dorothy the her name and they chatted briefly then. He drove off in a flashy black sports car. Dorothy never expected to see him again but only a few days later. Paul called the shop. He wanted to take dorothy out. Paul Snyder dropped out of school. At the age of fourteen his teen years were spent hanging around the biker gangs and pimps of Vancouver's Eastside. He knew oh he wanted to be rich. But a real job didn't interest him. Instead he gravitated towards various scams and hustles. Most of them involved women woman he tried pimping and groomed girls to be strippers but neither was that profitable. Eventually he turned to promoting auto and cycle shows us but a side. Hustle was never far from his mind when he met Dorothy. He found it as he told a friend after meeting her. That girl roll could make me a lot of money on their first date. In the winter of one thousand nine hundred seventy eight. Paul showed up at Dorothea northeast house in a long leather coat and more diamond jewelry. He drove her to his bachelor bad where she took in the skylights for rugs and platform bed. He cooked her dinner porter. Sparkling wine played songs on his guitar and told her she was beautiful. Dorothy knew that she was being swept. Opt Offer Feet in her journal. She wrote I was being sweet talked by an expert but I wanted to hear more and who could blame her. Her her previous boyfriend had never paid this much attention to her. Paul Bader clothes makeup and jewelry luxuries. She'd never been able to afford. There was only one problem. Nobody liked him not her brother her sister or her boss her mother. Nellie couldn't and stand him. They all thought Paul was rude entitled and Pushy he put his feet up on the coffee table at Dorothy House and flirted with other women right right in front of her door. These best friend asked her how she could stand it but Dorothy had the same answer for everyone. Nobody knew the real real Paul behind closed doors. He was a softy and he made her feel special. Before I continue you with Paul Psychology. Please note I am not a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist but I have done a lot of research for the show psychologist just doctor Andrea. Bonner has pinpointed. Certain behaviors used by those who wished to control their partners early on in a relationship behaviors like attention affection and nourishment all seem positive things. We want a relationship but they can also be powerful tools. Used to manipulate others when other people start to complain or point out troubling facets of the relationship the victim is unable to see them. Everything free thing. Paul did in those first few months of dating. Dorothy showering her with attention. Buying her gifts even cooking for her made her his biggest defender but his most effective weapon was allowing himself to be vulnerable. A Guy who strummed the guitar and told her how he truly felt about her couldn't be that bad. When dorothy claim that Paul was actually a big softie she thought she was seeing the real him but it was all of Assad in the end her friends and families instincts were right after eating? Just a few months. Paul told Dorothy that he wanted her. To pose. Nude Playboy magazine was on a hunt for its twenty fifth anniversary playmate. The prize was twenty. Five Thousand Dollars Poff aunt. Dorothy was exactly the type. Playboy was looking for the sexy gorgeous girl next door. Dorothy didn't want want to pose nude. She was extremely modest and worried about how her mother would react. But Paul wouldn't take no for an answer. The argued even when dorothy broke down in tears. Paul didn't stop. He minimized her feelings. Posing nude wasn't a big deal until finally in May of nineteen seventy eight. She gave in all brought Dorothy to to a photographer named Ken. Honey who already had a track record with playboy can needed dorothy his mother to sign a consent form because Dorothy was only eighteen a year younger than Canada's age of consent. Nellie Dorothy his mother was in Europe but somehow Paul procured a signature and left Dorothy the alone with Ken.

"In it was inevitable but yes a yesterday and he pasta way but I was I don't know if he waited for me but he a managed to be that the very end so he was he got into hospice this week which was great into Dorothy House must be a plug to Dorothy house they are amazing amazing place and so I was very very lucky together him in the last six days and yeah so hasn't been okay well firstly look genuinely like really sorry to hear that news it we chatted about it before we started recording and you really honest Amelia Open and look something like the death of somebody really close to isn't something people talk about often and I want you know we chatted a little bit about this just like is this the right thing to start the show with you know it's like okay but this is what's happening every week American talk for the last ten years we've spoken about the things that been happening in in our lives really been really honest about those things that happen and you know and the biggest thing that's been happening in your life is that you've been Living at you know you'll dad's Kinda final days you know you've been there with him you without holding his hand and you know when he took his final breath and you know you said it was quite uncomfortable which I thought was really courageous yeah I just I don't I know how you're GonNa feel when you lose a parent or someone really tasty and And I thought actually probably being there who is GonNa be how I wanted to be but actually hus- really difficult I dow being there at the end I can I I feel like he's GonNa hold me now you know for like years because he wilson as much a really great place just seeing him Kazini Dead Class and before you go but seeing him might take his last few breasts and you know not looking how I remember is quite heart so that for me although I know you've single you know I'm sure it was good for him I don't know I don't really know is he was so poorly that those lasts of ours would just yeah horrible really hard work and yeah I don't really know what the best thing is I'm not sure if I feel I did want to be there now I'm sure it's really warm and it's been like twenty four hours I but I do know that he was in the right place in Kansas just a horrible cancer actually had as well and he fought it for two years it's really time he didn't have any treatment because he was too poorly when he was actually diagnosed treatments for him to actually last two years is incredible really but the last definitely the last few months have been particularly hard because of the way he was living as well my dad was my dad was a game he and he lived he loved he would love nothing more than just live in a city cop and in fact he did in the woods caravans is life so for him ada sort of hospital whistle clean and tidy and sterile was his wider whereas for me it was really hard for me calf him because I was carrying him every day in a place which I felt was in good place to be when you're really sick so so for me that was hard that's the hardest thing when I go in Washington toss this had such a sigh of relief and it was my God he's somewhere safe and I know the I'm not gonna I know that he's going to be safe but the only thing that I feel now is like this year has been really long year for me and lots of things have happened this year which happened stressful but I've been writing this rollercoaster adrenaline feel it now all the hours I've missed of sleep of suddenly just jumped on me overnight and I just feel Ossoli exhaust state and I'm sure that other people listeners will be saying yep is exactly how I felt when this happened so he's probably no big surprise but so now I just feel like it's like Kalisa cotton's forbid just take a few days to try and sleep but that's not like I think not before we started recording if you put yourself in your dad's shoes having somebody with you when you oh you're in the final days of your life we must be quite a reassuring thing because you it's quite an intimate experience to share with somebody you sharing effectively your you know your sharing death with someone and you know I'm not a kind of grief Cantzler I'm not an expert I know very little about it but I was you know it makes me sad to think that people die alone and people die will die in the UK in in hospices alone yeah every single day in hospice staff do such incredible jobs of being there but essentially there's no connection I am I think speaking at turn but I don't know any hospice staff you know I'm sure they create like personal bonds nothing really like you know it's that's your dad his daughter and I think when it's my time to die if there's any were you know if my door to is there that would make me feel more ts I hate that's the case me and my dad quite up and down relationship over the years but yeah that's the case and I guess I just have to hope that excape though to think that the yeah I don't know I mean I know that this dolphin the hospice all truly amazing and I have said the I definitely you know how you have people say oh I'm raising money for the charity my next marathon go you go that's good you think about it but actually it made me really think about it this time about being charity not have done before but not for charter that she really meant something you can see how it really means something now in view now dorothy house done what they've done and I see they get thirteen percent funding from the government as all the rest of it is through charity shops or people raising money or anything else other gifts they get so to keep the faces running in this place any has ten beds it costs them I think is at ten million a year and they and if they don't get that money than they won't spread stated so for me I'm definitely GonNa make I'm going to really change the way I'm Gonna I'm GonNa try and raise as much money as I can fourth house specifically for that Dorothy House as well give something back because what they do is incredible and like you say there's so many people that die unknown at home or in a home they didn't have anyone but these places aw so special and the staff and say incredibly kind so I want to thank you George the House yes I don't want to yeah well look we we did also talk to so that people know about you presenting show and whether you're comfortable to do that and you really wanted to do it so like it's good it's great to be honest and open and so thank you become an Alderman and doing it even though it's a difficult time just like tell us some things you mentioned to me that you went back to where you had some really fun memories of Your Dad so look let's just wrap up this kind of intro to the show with give us a couple of fond memories and say my memories I put something opponent scrimmage she thinks however mm being about him and so as I said I was lucky enough I was up on a farm in the mandates in the middle of nowhere that was yesterday strive to the places I was basically born and blow up a hadn't been back for a long time so for me back to that place it's like lovely Tom in the countryside and I will always remember my dad's so we would get to the end of the drive in is probably like maybe a mile drive to that farm and we'd get to the the sign reset peniel Pharma we lived and data from school and he would get out the call and I got the passenger door and then we'd swaps lights and I would get in the car and drive the car and this was from the age of forty seven and I would have like cushion on the and we bring the seat it and I would drive the call came at that every night after school and and then the other thing is I wish member Dad's going into the woods because he felt the pheasants awesome dusk and dawn and he had a Hessian sack which he would have around his like site sort of calm and he comes on site dining champion the of the world is that book it was reminds me and he would do this whistle a specific whistle which he would day and the pheasants would all come down and come to him and he would feed them Cohn and I loved that I loved that they would they would do that and they knew his cool and he loved his he loved what he did his ascetic anti gun he loved the animals but obviously it's a strange thing of raring pheasants and they're gonNA be shot and they're gonNA beaten but it was he cared about what he did and he cared about the land and he loved nothing more than just spending time in the woods with his dogs and just yet being a bit of a bit of a free spirit and that's how I remember him not how I saw him in an awesome few months they say great way to you know to remember that it's important that we we do think back like that in and you know if you've lost a parent recently somebody that you love you know and you need to talk about it then don't forget seek seek out that help and also talk about it with your friends your families doesn't need cool okay have you been running I guess not no running helped yet daphne I it's funny actually I said to my job and I said can you just give me a session to do this they gave me a session I actually have no idea what if I did it or not I did it but I didn't know if I did the amount my reps or anything I just was thinking the hallway through it's tough yes running does help of course it does because it does even though entire I still need to get out definitely I mean what's this racing loan doc well say the week before again because I felt like I needed to be arrest by I am I found a race last Saturday code this is a brilliant it was called the race with no witty name was cooled and it was in the salt area and I just it was horrific by the and it was thirty three miles long so that's why did you just turned up and did it yeah I just turned up did Ashley and it was yeah it was really it was just horrific weather I covered in mud I slipped everywhere but it was never done before and yeah just sold it needed to disclaim my mind and I felt like running away nearly helps me say it did and I am yes I did it and an a one it of course and then and I wanNA lovely hand carved you talking about race prizes like a while back so the price ah was eight hundred tonnes a mock would look oh no choice same Michael I put on all people message me on it it was so nice thank you guys thank you that because now my wooden chopping board which in the day now I have my wooden mug it's so good tactical move for little get together with my family I guess my sister and husband my other half brother and my dad and his wife "The word conversion is used in a variety of context to include a spiritual or religious context, particularly with the experience of a follower of Jesus. The word Vert means to turn in Latin. So an extrovert is someone who turns outward to be revived and introvert is someone who turns in were to be revived in a convert someone who is turned to Jesus for life. Conversion? Turns your world side down and conversion is not to be confused with a diversion. A diversion is a slight change. Of course. It's like a detour around a construction zone and conversion is not to be confused with a diversion because a conversion turns your world upside down. That's why one of these earliest followers to Jesus said I have been crucified with Christ. And I no longer live. The world has been crucified to me. And I to the world. That's why another more recent convert wrote my conversion was the train wreck that I experienced in coming face to face with the living. God a conversion Turner world side down. And so we shouldn't be too hard on this man that has come to be called doubting Thomas. He's one of the followers of Jesus of Nazareth. Listen to this. How he got his name in the last half of the twentieth chapter of this biography of Jesus we call the gospel of John so on the evening of that first day of the week when the disciples were together with the doors. Locked for fear of the Jewish leaders. Jesus comes and stood among them. He says to them peace peace be with you. And he showed them his hands and his side the March crucifixion on his hands and his side and disciples were overjoyed to see the Lord. And again, he says to them peace be with you. As the father has sent me. So I am sending you and with that he breathed on them and says receive the Holy Spirit, if you forgive anyone since they are forgiven if you withhold forgiveness it is withheld now Thomas called the twin on the twelve was not with the disciples when Jesus came as so the other disciples began telling Thomas we have seen the Lord we seeing the Lord Thomas said unless I see the nail marks in his hands. And and put my finger in the place where the nails were and unless I put my hand into his side. I will never believe eight days later when again the disciples were together and Thomas was with them. Jesus comes. Although the doors were locked and stood among them and says to them peace peace be with you. And to Thomas he says put your finger here. See my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side stop doubting and trust and Thomas said Lord my God. And Jesus said to him because you have seen me you believe you trust blessed are those who have not seen yet still they trust. Jesus. Performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. These things are written. So that you may trust that Jesus is the messiah the Christ and that trusting you would have life in his name. This is the gospel of the Lord. Trusting? That you would have life in his name. That is conversion and conversion is not to be confused with a diversion. Let me give you an example of a diversion in one thousand nine fifty four. The Chicago Tribune ran a story about a prediction of the end of the world. The prediction came from a woman named Dorothy Martin. She was a fifty year old woman from the Chicago suburbs. Self proclaimed prophet Dorsey said that she had received messages from outer space, and the messages told her that God was going to wipe out life on earth, as we know it and whoever believes whoever trusts can come to her house on the night of December. Twentieth. Nineteen fifty four and God was going to send a spaceship to collect them. And save them. A sociology professor named Leon. Festinger read the story about Dorothy, and the prediction, and so he and some of his colleagues, devised a social experiment. They called the leaders of the flying saucer cult which came to be called and told them that they were seekers of the truth. And they wanted to join the group and so in the months leading up to December twentieth. Nineteen fifty four these incognito. Researchers infiltrated the ranks of the group. And they studied the social dynamics. December twentieth. Arrived and many people came to Dorothy house and they sang songs, and they waited in anticipation as midnight approached. And midnight past and they waited all night. And the flying saucer never came. Very early in the morning while it was still dark Dorothy received. Another message from outer space. There had been a slight change of plans. God had seen the faith of these believers gathered there, and he had compassion and he decided not to send the flood after all that afternoon. They called the newspapers and sought out interviews. They wanted to spread the news about how the world had been saved through their faith two years later Leon Festinger and his colleagues the ones who had infiltrated the group. They wrote a book, titled win prophecy fails. In that book, they detail the theory of cognitive dissonance. Cognitive dissonance is the stress that someone feels when they believe something so strongly, and then they are confronted with the contradiction to that belief, and they struggle and. Very often they can create diversions to shield themselves from the contradictory experience or information and the flying saucer cult is the case in point that believers can overcome every failed prophecy with a diversion. A slight change, of course. But basically continue on in the same direction. The followers of the crucified Jesus have long been accused of doing the same thing. They created a diversion. They were so overcome with grief that they can cockpit. This story about Jesus rising from the dead and then to protect themselves from the the reality, they they went out to convert the whole world to believe this with them. Because they couldn't deal with the fact that they're rabbi was dead. Is that what happened? Before we try to answer. This question we need to pause. And appreciate how important it is. If you or I or anyone is to be converted into the Christian faith. We ought to see it for what it is Christian faith is different than other systems of belief because it depends on factual historical truth other systems of belief other ideas, don't necessarily depend on historic person or an actual event. For example, if you could convince a Buddhist that the Buddha didn't really exist. She could go on being a Buddhist, and she could tell you that she doesn't follow the Buddha. She follows the teachings of the practices of the ideas of the Buddha. This cannot be said of the followers of Jesus of Nazareth..

"There. But I don't remember what the cowboy says. But they they run up the stairs. And they grow they grab it will it will. Here we go. We have this piece of audio here from the right? Gone. The new. So two notes on this number one. The guy sounds like will Ferrell. I don't know why we all have to pay with our lives. Right. Number two. This guy would make a terrible church greeter. Unbeliever? Is the tour guide. Well, they. Yes. We didn't see that yet. But the cooked mysterious figure that we see saying all of this is our guide is our tour. Right. So so the the cowboy or the gangster runs up the stairs reaches for that jewel. After hearing that warning does not heed the warning. And there's a big puff of smoke. And then suddenly our tour guide turns into a skeleton. Yeah. The gangster tour turns or the couch turns into skeleton, we applaud which is weird. We're the happiest place on earth. And and we're applauding someone Mets demise instill turn into a skeleton mysterious figure or tour guide takes the cloak off to the side and says scene, and then that's when we all clap fake it. Okay. We're good. Good. Okay. So then quickly than we move into the next room, which is kind of sills like we're in the same space. But maybe at the end of it, and we see a bunch of really quick it's quick it's a protest collection of of and almost zombie like creatures. It's definitely. The horn like red. And then we move in then to Tarzan and classic movie. Still weird to me that they really committed all that space to Tarzana. And then when we look to our left, we see cheetah we see Jane sitting on elephant. And then we bounty of fruit. Yes. And then to our right? We we hear that distinctive. Call. Thank you. And then we see a very very glossy Tarzan comes winging through. I don't know. They just like they put extra shellac on this guy. The maybe he got caught with the alien. Maybe he did. And he was sweated out on the no Strom. But any case if you end up in the Weissmuller, I think, isn't it. If you end up in the back, you see that that part at least ten times, and if you're sitting more you get a good look at that him swinging by and then turning around on the vine and coming back, and for some reason sounds like a tree is about the fall every time he comes through. And so then we move past that, and then we get to this nice little scene of CASA Blanca, and we'll see a Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman who looks like who my friend. Betsy looks just like Berman Berkman. She does shot off the Betsy. Hi, betsy. She's a sweetheart. I'm sure Ingrid Bergman was too. I have no idea. And then then we see the plane kind of starting up there doing the classic lines there from the movie, and then we then move past this, very brief part. There's an it feels a little weird. It's a little awkward partner. It's a corner. There's a reason why this is awkward and you can find out next week on our companion episode. But. We we see Mickey to our left. We see the sources apprentice the classic seen from Fantasia. And we see Mickey commanding the waves in for very long time. It was very grainy. It was weird. It was one of the few times that we saw Mickey featured in an attraction yet. It was terrible footage. It was weird back projected and stuff. I get it. I get it because the age, but you would have just thought they would have been like way touchy about making it awesome every other room that you've been through as like so detailed, and so everything, and then you get to this corner really corner, and it's a black room. Yeah. Well, there's a reason for that. Well, I don't like this. I did his I remember go through it. And it was the coldest room in the ride while really. So even the Orlando weather, you don't want that coldest room. What? Did I I said, I don't like it. What you do? Because if. Oh, yeah. I don't follow. But okay. I do. I do. Next. And then then we get into this. I mean, this is fantastic. No wonder this is the finale or the at least the last big seen that we see and we get into the the land of Oz. Perhaps not even the land of. I'm not sure technically I'm not that well versed in the stories, but we get into munchkin land for sure in fact, we hear the munchkin singing the song munchkin land. And then as we kind of slowed down, and we we we look around we see the little houses we see the yellow bec- road. We see, you know, them coming up out of manholes and poking their head out of windows. It is very very fun. It is super super cool. And then of course, the wicked witch of the west shows up we see the wicked witch of the east actually little turtle toes are all curl that awesome tights underneath the the Dorothy house, and then as we get to the front there. Then suddenly, the spectacular animatronic very well done rivaled a lot of a lot of the other more sophisticated animatronic audio animatronic, but this is the wicked witch she makes them threatening stuff to us and the the tour guide blows it off. And then we just begin moving through again. And we just say she'll bite her time by your time and your little dog too. And then we get the yellow we hear all the yellow brick road. And and then we moved through we see one final scene witches. The poppy field in front of emerald city where we see Dorothy. Unmanned scarecrow and the lion. And then finally we end up in this grand finale theater scene, where at least in the final years of this attraction, we had Robert Osborne from TC M setting us up in basically sets up a three three minute film on Taj, and let's take fifteen seconds to name all the films that we remember from there all sorts Star Wars. Hello, Dolly, good morning, Vietnam. South by southwest. Some Charlie Chaplin. Maybe tangled.
