Mikal Bridges helps Nets rally to stun Celtics, 115-105
"The net storm back from a 28 point deficit to beat the Celtics, one 15 one O 5. Brooklyn trailed 51 23, four and a half minutes into the second quarter before closing the half on a 32 13 run. Mikhail bridges scored 38 points and had ten rebounds in 43 minutes. This defense, you know, we got stops and we just stayed together, just, you know, possession by possession. You can't get all back in one place, so you just kept fighting and just stay together. Cam Johnson finished with 20 points and Dorian Finney Smith added 17. Jalen Brown paced the Celtics with 35 points and Jason Tatum added 22 with 13 rebounds on this 25th birthday. I'm Dave ferry.

"Guy too. So you have someone that's even more elite at that, but with a better understanding of he can play off with someone because we saw with LeBron. LeBron dominated that ball with Kyrie as well, but they had spot moments. And doubts will figure it out, expressing what Jason Kidd at the helm. But it's one of those situations. It's just going to take time for money and it's easy for people to think like, well, they can't because they both need the ball. No, you have one player that understands how to play that role because he's played it before and Kyrie Irving with LeBron James and Cleveland. Now he's bringing a lot of that stuff back to what he was doing. Then now he's going to have to implement it now. I'm just waiting for that first time to look at Holly, Kyrie, 'cause you know Luca be Holland at people. Look here, look here, look here. I could be wrong. You could say that I'd be a presumptuous right now. However, I'll be looking at Kyrie's Twitter account and stuff he's sending. We know the stuff Kyrie's Kyrie some of the stuff. We have ideas of what Kyrie might watch. You know what I'm saying? That's the best way that I'm gonna put it 'cause he watched that one thing. I knew he ain't been on three hours watching that one thing. All I'll say it is with let's just say Slovenia gentlemen starts holiday Kyrie. I don't really so much dough how that right there gonna go over. So you have two things. If he doesn't in Slovenia, he can come up with something and I'm just giving that's my dog. You know, I'm like, yeah, do you think Kyrie? But at the same time, I think the individual that you have to watch in this is Kyrie. Because Kyrie wants people to understand that it was a misunderstanding at Brooklyn. It was a misunderstanding in Boston. It was a misunderstanding in Cleveland. So you're running out of options in saying the misunderstanding. Now you have to perform and be a model citizen. Now being a model citizen is not, it's not something that he can not do, it's just curry. Get back to basketball. Don't worry about anything else. Be who you are on the floor. Because you're running out of time. You're running out of option. You're running out of teams. Only so many times can people say, oh, you know what, hey, he can work in our system. Because coaches have this thought process that, hey, if I work with this guy, I can get him to the place where he can be successful for us. Or, hey, we got to look another direction. Yeah. What worries me now about Kyrie? 'cause I think I don't know if you saw this, but I said it very early that when the hebrews negroes thing, first guy saw it. And I actually have to admit, I hate that that title didn't have rhyming words 'cause I always find myself wanting to say he Bros the negroes, or he brings the negroes, like I think it would make the whole thing a whole lot better if it went there, but you know, he started off so stride and I was like, look, if I'm the next wave of trade Kevin Durant and get started for the future. And keep it real. Near did wade Kyrie. I mean, they got back expensive Dinwiddie Dorian Finney Smith and picks way off into the future, right? Like they in effect gave him awake.

"The nets are not definitely calling the raptors the last one. If the nets could flip some of this stuff that they got and pry OG and OB out of there. You might have something there with the nets. But I don't know if they're going to be able to. Keep in mind that that's now they have three picks that they can trade, right? They have two picks one 76 is a one pick from the Mavericks. So three picks that they can trade plus the other stuff they've got on their team. And by the way, last year at the trade deadline, I'm not saying that the Nick claxton is a, you know, transformational offering. The raptors were trying to get Nick lax a year ago. The raptors. Yeah, they offered a first for him and the nets and what turned out to be a very prescient move said, no thanks. Right. And I know that the Dorian Finney Smith isn't OG Anna nobi, but it's not bad. So I'm not putting, I don't think I'm putting claxton in an offer for any other raptors guys cut. Well, axton's got too good. That's fine. I'm just telling you the nets offering ability with what Toronto has. Is suddenly very interesting. I'm just going to leave it at that. The other thing I want to say is we've heard nothing on boyen Bogdanovich at all in recent days. That could end up being a player if he gets traded, like I'm not saying that I think the Lakers are going to pull it off, but if the Lakers could pry buoyant by Thursday, I would have a completely different view of how they failed their business. Yeah, and you feel the Lakers, if you're offering, you have to call and see if you can get them for one of the unprotected picks. Like, why not? Actually, I don't know that that's true. I sometimes think the worst thing they can do is go half in like that. Let's trade one pick for a pretty good player who makes our team pretty good. But I would at least AD looks good enough since he came back from injury. And the west looks muddled enough that I got to have a new meeting about that and think about it. And also the Levine, I mean, I don't know what the bulls are going to do, but the Levine for Russ and two picks thing is always one of the interesting fake trades. I don't think the bulls are trading Levine and if they do, I'll have a on my face. I mean, there's some package they would trade them for. I don't think the bulls are going to surrender. And also their situation, even though you could argue it's smart. There are situations where they don't control their draft pick this year. It doesn't behoove tanking. And that would be a tank. That would be a taking. So I would, I would say, boyan is now a guy that no one is talking about that I am because that's a player who could make a difference. And then obviously Toronto. And one more thing, are we a 100% sure? 100% that the blazers are holding Jeremy grant. We 100% sure about that. Look, I've been on the blazers as a wild card team for three weeks now saying like, are they just okay being mediocre? Like we're maximizing dame's prime, but not really, we're not very good. And the only now they're just barely under the tax, right? They're $67,000 under the tax. And they are not going to go over the text. They will not be ending of the season over the text. The only interest like Josh Hart is nice, but that's a deck chair move. With three years left on his deal as a deck chair move. The only meaningful, the only meaningful stuff they have to really shake it up is grant and Simon's. I would and sharp. I would be looking around at Simon's deals just to see how much he's valued around the league and what I could get with him. I don't get the vibe from them that they're super interested in doing that. They love simons. He's their guy. He's the bridge to the future. They traded McCollum to free up his role, et cetera. So that leaves grant who's eligible for an extension, hasn't signed one. Obviously, dame wanted Jeremy grant, Jeremy grant's been really good for them. But I agree with you there are a team to watch. It sounds to me. I said this on my pod the other day. It sounds like the blazers are trying to buy. Yeah, but like they are. So maybe they will buy. But I'm just. Asking. I mean, where are you at on Jeremy Graham? I would expect I would bet on them keeping him because I think buying for them the most likely buy is like, can we get a small upgrade somewhere for Josh Hart or this and that? But I don't, I mean, I don't think it's out of bounds that he gets traded. I would go like 90 ten. He's still on the team at the trade deadline. So all right, so I would say Fred van vliet, OG and OB, boy I'm Baghdad. Three guys, I'm going to be paying a lot of I'm going to be having a lot of conversations about between now and Thursday.

"Absolutely. Absolutely. And then we've got we didn't get to this yesterday. Pat Connaughton received an extension as well. With Milwaukee Bucks. Yeah. So that's no problem with that. He's an underrated rebounder. He's got the ability to shoot the three for you and everything. Yeah, you can plug them into the starting lineup when need be if you need them off the bench, he can do that. He can pretty much do whatever you need him to do. He's one of the rare players who loses almost nothing efficiency wise, starting or coming off the bench. She's basically the same guy no matter what, which is, which is good, because he's good. You know, that can be bad if the player stings, obviously, but he's a pretty good there. So yeah. And I will say on a personal note, when I was in Vegas for summer league, I hosted two events for kids that included pat Connaughton Dorian Finney Smith was involved one day demar Derozan was involved as well. And seeing the way pat worked with those kids and getting to chat with him for a bit, you know, about kind of just the way he approaches things. He was absolutely incredible. He was just in his element, working with all these kids, just having so much fun with them, coaching them up. I will forever be a pat Connor and fan now seeing the way that he was around those kids and really not just showing up to smile and wave or anything like that. But getting out there playing with the kids, working with them and really going out of his way to make to make the day for those kids. Do you know why, why, why? He's such a good guy. "Then which is a fun little stat that I'm sure. And then the other part of it is Dallas tried to crash versus Golden State smaller lineup and it backfired mask that they ended up ended up being a -7 on their crashes because they gave up more points in transition on their crashes than they did versus their retreat. So they're kind of in a really tough spot there. I don't know what the solution is. I'm sure you can always improve your I mean, look, maxi Cleveland gotten filed trouble. That was big. That was a big factor. Obviously, the three point shooting was a big factor. That won't be the same in game two. But I do think that I do think that the style of defense of mavericks play was well in retrospect was more well suited to how Phoenix played, which is more of a stationary, one on one attacking, break guys down, defense versus Golden State, which is very off ball, lots of cuts, lots of misdirection. Memphis defended that very well, historically, all season are not historically, but all season. And so they were kind of suited for it. Dallas, I think, wasn't really ready for it. We'll see how they adjust going into a game too. The best thing if I'm making the case for Dallas rebounding game two is what you said about max to get in fact trouble. Because that's the one variable in gold state, which I think is a really hard place to play. If he's going to be in foul trouble, then the other variables for them to win at that point are make a ton of threes or Luca goes off. But I just think they need him. In Dallas, maybe it's a little different, but what did he have? He had 3000 at halftime or Kenny and a half. And I remember not a good sign, yeah. The only played 8 minutes in the first half, I believe. The other thing I want to say quickly, that's disadvantageous for Dallas, is their premium defenders that they have Bullock block, excuse me. And Dorian Finney Smith both really, really good on ball defenders during Finney Smith, one of the better on ball wing defenders in the league. The knock against him has always been the foot speed, tracking guys, offscreen. So him chasing around curry. That's a challenge. I think they're going to have to really dial in how they switch off the ball. And that's got to be I mean, if you remember the way the rockets defended Golden State back in the day. They were aided by Durant because with the rent, there wasn't nearly as much motion in the game was a lot slower as crazy as that sounds. Now you remove a guy like that and now it's just all space and movement. It's tough man. It's tough watching when it works, it looks beautiful when it doesn't work. We're all mocking Steve Kerr for not running simple high pick and roll on Twitter like I am all the time. But yeah, let's do the whole works. So Dallas, I think, was plus one 80 heading into the series on FanDuel and now I think they're like plus 360 something like that or plus somewhere between three 35 and 360 depending on what you're looking at. But.

"Thank you. Dallas beats pick and roll heavy offenses in Utah and Phoenix. How do they adapt to Golden State Warriors motion systems? So that's a really interesting question. There's a huge argument on Twitter about who's going to win this series and who's got the advantage and who's in the garden Luca, but you know what? The warriors have a couple of guys, but the Mavericks might struggle the guard as well. So what do you think about the Mavericks and how they're going to end up dealing with the motion offense of the warriors? It's going to be tough because the Golden State Warriors might be able to load up against Dallas, but Dallas definitely won't be able to load up against the Golden State Warriors offense. I mean, motion offense, especially their motion offense when they go with their new world. I don't want to call it the death lineup. It's just so hard to guard. So it is going to be a challenge for them on defense. Oh, I agree. So I mean, look at it this way. You can throw a double at Luca and he's going to hit Dorian Finney Smith on the high post. You can throw a double at staff and he's going to hit Jordan Poole on the wing attacking a closeout, right? Or he's going to hit draymond green at the elbow who's going to now create an advantage. I think it's a pretty distinct advantage. And so as a result, I don't know. I would be much more happy or much more comfortable doubling Luca with the great rotations that the warriors have on defense, especially with a guy like draymond quarterbacking, then I would be hard pressed to imagine they're going to blast curry too much in the pick and roll because they have enough weapons now and clay is there. To really, really hurt them. Now they may be they might get away with it and there might be moments where clay is off and maybe pools off and maybe all three of them are off. And the Mavericks will end up making more threes in that game. I think that's going to be the key is whoever makes more threes than the other is going to have a distinct advantage for the W. Who do you think wins a serious question? I mean, to me, I feel like the warriors should win. The warriors are more creative defenses lead than any other team..

"And he's a guy that has consistently been a good playoff performer over the course of his first 5 playoff series. He was great against pelicans. He was the guy that was the president's consistently against the pelicans. And this is the one series where if he's going to show that he can be that guy if he can be the guy who can punish teams for trying to play small. This was it. And he didn't do it. There were times in the first few games where Dorian Finney Smith was a big sky on the court, mostly they played small with Maxie. There was no reason for him not to take advantage. And I think that it's worth discussing him. I think the injury stuff probably does matter more. Yeah. Like Chris Paul maybe not being able to explode off of that left quad that Mark spears reported is now a thing. It makes sense to me on some level. He didn't have any explosiveness. I thought there was like a I thought the hand was probably bothering him a little bit. Like you started to see early in the playoffs that he really didn't feel comfortable going left it felt like. Just losing his handle too. It's Chris Paul. He never loses his handle. Yeah, so I do think that the injury stuff did prop up for Chris Paul, but like that raises questions going forward in and of itself on some level. It lends me. It felt like honestly Dallas punk'd them. And this is not a team that gets punked. Like, from the moment that Luca after game 5 said like, every basically like coming into the locker room down the tunnel. He's like, everything's all good when you're up. Like, you guys talk a lot of shit when you're up, basically. From that moment, it seemed like Luca just locked in and I mean, look like they're schematic adjustments. I thought Dallas did a great job of consistently hunting the worst offender on the court against Phoenix. I thought that Dallas's defense did a really good job of essentially just starting to ignore Chris Paul. They just played him as almost a non entity in games 6 and 7. And I was a smart move..

"Don't expect him to score like that every single game, but in terms of being a guy who can defend at a high level and shoot threes, he can do those things and alongside Luca, who plays a very LeBron esque role on the Mavs, while that works out pretty well, doesn't it? You surround LeBron with some guys who can do those types of things? Well, you're going to be in good shape. So, Dorian Finney Smith, great example exactly that type of player that you're looking for. Joe aparicio said Duncan Robinson, yet Duncan Robinson is a guy who I mean, he's not the rotation right now for the Miami Heat. He's got a lot of money left on his contract. In fact, let me double check here. I think he has four years left. But he's got a lot of time left under contract and a lot of money too. So Duncan Robinson, yes, four years after this season still under contract, you've got the final season isn't fully guaranteed, but you've got 16.9 million 18.1 million 19.4 million. That's a lot of money for a guy who can't even get off the bench in this playoff series. And he's not terrible. He just was great like the last series. So Duncan Robinson is a guy who's interesting, but how badly did the Miami Heat want to move him? And if you're the Lakers, do you want to absorb that much money for Duncan Robinson? His main skill is three point shooting. It was three point percent of drops at all. He becomes much less valuable. If you look, this season went from 44% two seasons ago, 41% last season down to 37% this season, and that is impacted his overall effectiveness as a player. That's something to consider. When you have a guy who's main value on the floor, is there shooting? You have to know that sometimes shooting isn't always a sticky stat. It's something where if a guy shoots 44% from three, that doesn't mean you're going to get 44% from three next season. Rebounding is a bit more sticky. Like if a guy grabs ten rebounds, one season, if you give them the same minute, same opportunities in a still relatively healthy, you're probably going to get a similar production the next year. That's the way it goes. It's more of a sticky stat. Shooting percentages not so much, especially three point shooting percentages. You can get some variation there. And because of that, you look at Duncan Robinson, who when he signed his contract, he thought, okay, this is a pretty good value for a guy who's an absolute sniper. Now you have to question if he's only at 37% three point shooter, is he worth that contract? Probably not. Probably not. Now, are you working in a rust trade? Okay, maybe it's a three team deal somehow, you figure something out there. All right, you know, I would listen. But I'm not rushing out to go get Duncan Robinson at this point, even though the Lakers could use shooting, that salary is one where you've got to be convinced, hey, this guy's going to be a really good shooter from here on out. Because if this shooting slide continues, 44%, then down 41%, 37%. If he's a league average three point shooter next season, and I think he's better than that..

There's all these pictures of animals that are like with like shocked faces. It's pretty funny. So obviously this was invented by people who live in places without mosquitos. I'm assuming. Yeah, apparently. You're not doing a lot of gardening naked in mosquito land, but oh my gosh. Happy world naked gardening day. Wow. There it is. I thought you were going to say something exciting like it's margarita day or something. That was two days ago. On Cinco de Mayo. That's right. That's right. Well, let's face it any day can be margarita day. At least. They could be world naked gardening day too. As long as you want to do it right, I guess. I don't know. All right, moving on. No one cares. The Babs came out fire today. They take down the Phoenix Suns. You know, this was another one where the Mavs were back against the wall and you could just see they wanted this win. They wanted to get out there and get it done and get it done. They did. Phoenix, it felt like they were off from the early going, just didn't seem like they totally had it on that night. Chris Paul, 7 turnovers. He had like 6 turnovers in the first quarter. And that really got the Mavs on his birthday. Yeah, on his birthday. Yeah. Played 37 minutes, turned 37, and turned the ball over. 7 times. That's too many turnovers for the Phoenix Suns and the Mavs did with they didn't shoot great. 33% from three, but managed to do enough to get the W particularly with the sun's playing pretty sloppy basketball. But I think the important thing here is jaylen Brunson, 28 points 5 assists, welcome to the series. Jaylen Brunson, this is the first game. Good game that he's had against the sons in this series and that made a big, big difference for Dallas. Yeah, Maxie klebe has been kind of bare off. So it's kind of a guy who is done, I think the best most reliable play alongside Luca. But yeah, Jalen Brunson showed up, Dorian Finney Smith, Reggie Bullock, they combined for 29 points, and shoot it great, Ted ten out of 26, but made just enough shots to keep Dallas on or keep Phoenix honest on them, didn't allow them to over help on Luca Luca nearly a triple double. Again, he didn't shoot great at either 11 out of 25, two out of 7 from three. But that's going to be the way it is. So we said this the other day when they went down O two, it was can Luca get enough help from the other guys. And he did in this one and then the suns were, I like the way you put it..

"Okay, let's talk about the teams that actually won. The sun's the Mavericks. I was saying a few minutes ago or maybe 20 minutes ago now. That this is my favorite second round series. I know that you're a huge son's person. Are you still feeling pretty confident in Phoenix even with Devin Booker's hamstring and Devin Booker maybe not being a 100% from the jump? In Phoenix prevailing in this series or just what are your general thoughts? What matchups are intriguing to you and do you give, I'll just say off the top, I pick Madison 7 because I like it. I like it. But are you still like, okay, sons are going to roll or just what are your thoughts here? No, no, no. No, I mean, I picked the sons here, but I did so in 7. I don't think this is, I mean, there's no reason to think that the maps would be an easy matchup for anyone. I am a little bit worried about what I just told you about before with for the box and to some extent for Billy. The idea of going from one opponent that defends one way or has limitations one way. And then going against an opponent that really does not have those limitations. So we talked about basically Utah and how much they struggled defensively and the idea of the Mavs just being able to play tic-tac-toe even before Luca was back to just basically hit cleaver in the corner. That's not going to be the case against the sons. I mean, the sons are going to have guys that can really defend Luca. They can defend Bronson that are not just going to leave an open pass to the corner because of their limitations or because of how bad their perimeter defense is. The sons have a very good perimeter defense. So I think that still obviously guys in Dallas rotational present a challenge Luca does that with everybody. One of the matchups I'm most curious about in this series and a name that I feel like doesn't get mentioned enough considering how good Dallas was defensively this year? And I think because they don't really have like stud defenders or at least that many of them with that team, this is probably the guy most deserving of kind of the credit is Dorian Finney Smith and this series him and really I would imagine at times he's going to be taking Chris Paul in this series. So looking at the matchup numbers from the regular season, he played. The sun scored 65 points as a team and 67 possessions when Dorian Finney Smith guarded Chris Paul during the regular season, which is a really, really, really, really low number. So Finney Smith is someone I was going to be curious about in this series anyway. One because he did such a good job on Mitchell in the last series. But I am really, really curious to see what that looks like in this series. And to some extent, we just watched Chris Paul do what he did. In this last game where he literally didn't miss a shot, the games, the clutch games were a big, big storyline between these two teams in terms of how well they performed in the clutch at certain moments..

"That will look back and be like, oh, neither of those teams were that great. But I would have I would have Phoenix one and I would have Boston too. The thing with the thing with Dallas though is like we were just talking about, it's not just Luca. Jalen Brunson looks unbelievable. What he's doing. I just don't think Utah's very good. I want to see them do it against it gets a much higher caliber competition. That's fair, though, Bill, but Brunson's been doing it all year long. When Luca was out early in the season, he averaged 22.77 assists. He was awesome for them earlier. He was great all season long. He's one of the more efficient isil scores in the league. It's so many different ways. Good if you want to win a first round series. Yeah, I think the sample, I think the sample with Brunson, he hasn't gotten the high usage at all, except for when Luke has been out, but we're now seeing what him and Luca can do together when they're empowering Brunson and ways that they have it in the past. I'm a buyer and what we've seen from Brunson in the first round. Granted, you're right. Like the jazz defense is weak. It's an easier matchup for him and it'll be a much stiffer challenge when he might have like Mikel bridges defending him on some possessions. But that's true. Good luck. Anybody depended by Mikel bridge. I'm buying on Jalen Brunson. What do you got, rob? I mean, I don't want to gloss over the fact that Dallas too, that they just held the best regular season offense in the league to 96 points in this closeout game. I think they're pretty stout defensively. Like what Dorian Finney Smith and Reggie Bullock can do on the perimeter? I can't wait to watch those guys run up against CP and hopefully a healthier Devin Booker by the time that series starts. But I'm in a similar framing. I'm still thinking, again, I'll just take the pandering and say Boston one. Wow. And I don't even have Boston one. I am too. Well, for me, it's bookers injury. Like if Booker is healthy Phoenix is one. But until we see the game 7, the game 7 in Phoenix still matters for me in this rankings. In the finals. That's fair. Anyway, all right, so you have Boston one Phoenix two Golden State three, who's four? Yeah. I would go, I'm gonna go shit. I'm trying to it's hard. It's really tough. I think you like personally. I think I have to go Miami four because if I'm putting Boston.

"Of offensive thing, like another thing that is an issue for me with Colbert and we talked about this. You remember during the season we had that moment where you were like, do you think would you take Devin Booker and Chris wall over Mitchell and Gobert? And I said yes. To me, there's still something about, I need my second best player or one of my two best players, I need them to be able to do something with the ball in their hands, like down the stretch of a playoff game. And you know, when I wrote about ayton, look at what ayton did in game three of that pelican series. I mean, he was good again. In game four, it was really Chris Paul, who struggled. Like, I think what makes 8 in a max player on a championship team is the fact that he can he has those small flourishes he can add to his game. I don't think in a vacuum, he's a better player than Gobert. I think if you're trying to win a title, you need a center, I think almost more like 8 and then you need to go bear. I think that ayton's wonderful, absolutely. It's also hard to have this conversation because the jazz are like perception of who Gobert can be is just so warped by how bad the jazz is for it or defense is. It's just hard to have the conversation. No, yeah, so if and I know Jay Crowder played once upon a time in Utah. I understand that. But if you had Jay Crowder, Mikhail bridges, cam Johnson, big wing, Tory Craig, would be like a jazz yeah. So I was talking to someone at the game the other night. We were watching on TV. It was like, if the jazz head Dorian Finney Smith, and this is part of their organization's problem, their inability to find a diamond in the rough like that. Yeah. I mean, to that credit, I made the Conley trade when I thought they should have looked for a point guard, and there was once upon a time Mike Conley was one of the best defenders in the NBA..

"General. Damian Jones. Bring him back. I should have never let him laugh. That's right. Leave. But go get him. Go get a guy like a Damien Jones or another big 'cause I guarantee you the bigs you can get at a better minimum. I think we kind of saw this season. The bigs, a better minimum compared to a big, at the compared to a wink at the better minimum completely different. The wings, quality of wings at bedroom minimum are not that good. Compared to taxpayer level. Now, we should mention to getting those wings that we're talking about, it's not easy. Every team in the NBA wants those guys. Every team is after that specific skill set. Teams want as many of those guys as they can possibly get so they get expensive. I mean, look, Dorian Finney Smith got a big deal from the Mavs. He's been really good. I've been really good. But a lot of people just see him as, oh, he's just a role player. Yeah, but he fits that skill set. Look at what Mikael bridges is done. For the sons, you find guys like that. They tend to get paid, you can find some guys like an auto Porter junior, how much does he get? That's the name that I've been on quite a bit. If you could find that, great, but you might not be able to. So that's where it's a little bit of a bit of a challenge. So let's see. People say Damien Jones is not that good. We're not saying he's good. We're saying, would you rather have Damien Jones for the minimum or would you rather give Mitchell Robinson 40 million for the next four years? Because that might be what it takes to get him. And then the Lakers can't do that. And then be stuck with player Y on a veteran minimum to be your three and D wing up. Trevor reads the two. That's three and D wing off the bench like, no. No, that's not. Just get you need to get Trevor ariza, Delorean..

"But I don't know. I don't know if every fan feels that way. I don't know, and it's challenging. And I also think the idea of like, I have friends who are fans of team, so I'm like, you guys should be really more interested in trading for Simmons and they have fans have no interest sometimes trading for Simmons in the sense of like. And if we're talking about it on a fan side of it, there is some of that. I can understand it where it's like, why would I trust Ben Simmons to give me hope, right? And so I understand it on that side. It's a tough thing, man. And one thing is as critical as we are of all these trades and all of these things. Being a front office guy is tough. Making sure it's hard. It's a very hard job. I understand it. I went through it as a video guy. It's difficult. So it's like, you know, the second guessing comes with it, but it's hard. And it's hard to kind of predict these things. On the other side of this, though, is Dallas. And I understand the idea that they went for here. They broke the porzingis deal up into two more manageable trade chips basically. I think they're going to have an easier time moving Spencer Dinwiddie in a deal in dos Bertrand's in a deal to try and rebuild in completely retool around Luka Dončić. For this year, it's worse. Like there are worse team. There are definitely a worse team this year. I have a lot of ball handling, which is interesting, like Spencer Dan witty jaylen Bronson, Luka Dončić are three of your four or 5 best players now. I guess Tim Hardaway sort of and then Dorian hardware has the broken foot. Yeah, like I'm assuming he'd be back to the playoffs. Is he not going to be back for the playoffs? I will Google this as you need to fill time while I type this up. Yeah. But like Dorian Finney Smith has been really good this year and but now you're going to be completely retooling what Jason Kidd has been doing on the fly..

NBA Front Office w/ Keith Smith & Trevor Lane

"Western Conference, but with one trade, they could push themselves up potentially into another tier if they can really get things running, but it's not going to be easy. There's going to be some specific contracts they have to move. So look, I guess let's start with miles Turner. Keith, there's been a lot of buzz around miles Turner and the Mavs there's been this link for a few seasons now. Do you think he's a good fit there? I mean, I guess you would just have all the arms if you put porzingis and Turner on the floor together. Yeah, I worry how you're going to rebound. Yes. Because those two guys, despite their size or notoriously poor rebounders, but you do have to factor and you get a lot of rebounding out of Luca in that position. Maybe you are able to keep somebody else around that can hit the glass. I think you would really want a third big, that's kind of more of a rugged option in there that you can kind of throw in there. But as Mark Stein noted, in guys, subscribe to his newsletter. He's got a good stuff in there. And it's free on once a week. And that's where he dropped all the good trade tidbit stuff. He denoted that they're in on both Turner. And it's slipping my mind. John Collins. So it kind of makes some sense, right? I guess. I clearly think Collins is the far superior player. I think he's just a much better player than miles Turner is. But I think I get it for Dallas. If you're looking to, what do we need to pay our next to porzingis? Well, it's a guy who can really rebound, which that would be Collins. Or someone who can protect him a little bit with some shop blocks and I would be Turner. Turner used to playing with another big. Now poison gets different big from sabonis, of course, because he's more perimeter based, where sabonis does a lot of his work inside. But I get it, as you mentioned, though, there are some challenges. Teams are super interested in Dorian Finney Smith and Jalen Brunson, who are both pending free agents.

"Your taxpayer mid level exception on someone else. That sort of thing. Because they're eventually going to be sacrifices even if the suns are willing to pay the luxury tax. There's a limit to that. By the way, a couple wing contracts I wanted to highlight javon Carter three years 11 and a half million. That's got a chance to be really good contract, but then he's 6 one. Like he's not a three and D player like Mikhail bridges is a three and D player, even though he, the guy he can be up, he can really die up. Dorian Finney Smith is on a ridiculous three year $12 million contract. He's gonna get paid this summer if he has a good year. So that value will disappear. Sneaky good contract that I don't think got enough love even though they won the championship. Pat Connaughton three years 16 million. I don't know, I'd have to sit down and watch film of him defensively obviously his three point shot his oscillated up and down pretty wildly and I don't think he's sort of guarded with the respect of a good three point shooter. That's a good contract. He's a good all around player, like it's hard to sneak those deals in under the radar, but they do exist, and his content 85% of Mikhail bridges maybe, I don't know. A Deep Dive Into Rudy Gobert After the Jazz Lose To Denver
"Talk about Rudy. Gobert. What? What do we want to know about mr. Gaubert because I thought before today and obviously today is Sunday. I thought before the day that he was running away with the defensive player of the year award. And then today happened today happened. I would not go as far as running away with the defensive player wage. I thought he was running away. I thought it was a significant gap between him and everybody else. So I totally understand why you would say that their top five and defense coming into town today. They're really really good team Utah. They are arguably playing better before today than anybody in the NBA just point blank. Especially now that the Lakers have hit like off a bit of a bit of a malaise having said that I'm still saying Anthony Davis Ford Prince of player of the year because they've number one defense and he's the one the keys the number one defense in the NBA off. He's by far the most versatile defender in the NBA Rudy I think is a reasonable like honestly probably would be second for me right now Myles Turner has a case sneaky class that I've been advocating as much as I can Larry Nance would probably be in my top five right now. He is the whole reason that the Cavs have a reasonable defense. Yep. Right now a top-10 defense, but I digress nonetheless Rudy gobert has been very very good for the Utah Jazz this year and I thought that Utah's games this week. We're kind of a perfect encapsulation of the Rudy gobert experience against Dallas. He was the reason that they just come holy month and utterly annihilated the Mavericks in both of those games and I watched the first one close cuz I bet on Dallas because Utah was without Donovan Mitchell was without a favors and Dallas was getting back Dorian finney-smith was getting back to like Powell. I thought that they'd take that energy and catch you too on the back end of a back-to-back and be kind of run away with that game and that absolutely one hundred percent was the wrong side to be on and in large part. It was because of the incredible grass. City that Rudy gobert holds as a pick-and-roll offensive threat, he is completely obliterated kristaps porzingis in that in those two games like butterwood obliterated him like wipe them off the face of the Earth on both ends. He averaged 23 points and 16 rebounds. He had like three blocks. He had a couple of steals. He was dead thing that people who are Jazz fans and that yell from the rooftops about Rudy. Gobert. He was everything in those two games that people say about Rudy being like a top-12 impact player in the NBA. You'll hear sometimes in this game today against Denver Nikola jokic made him look like a parking cone on defense and
