"For NFTs. And these numbers are similar to where they were at pre lunar crash in May 2022, which for a lot of people is considered the start of crypto winter. And there are a couple of main catalysts for this, including the popularity of the blur NFT marketplace as well as the empire view the labs. So we can get into some of those statistics a little bit deeper. Yeah, tell us what tell us about blur a little bit first. What is it about blur that's making such an impact? Yeah, so it's really interesting. Blur has definitely risen in popularity because it's a zero fee marketplace that's targeted towards pro NFT traders. So these are traders that are going to be making very large transactions with a lot of Ethereum pouring into that. And this whole marketplace war that's been going on between open sea and blur. Open seas more targeted towards those retail traders. And some there's something in the report to highlight in since January, sales have decreased 32% of individual NFT sales. But trading volume is increased a 120%. So with this blur marketplace being so popular and a lot of people going to make these larger trades, that's one of the reasons why trading volume has really been pumping. And it's something that will probably continue to see in the next several months. You picked up in your story about this that based upon that radar industry volumes. Are there any other takeaways from that report that you can talk about yeah, absolutely. It's not just blur that has had a significant impact on the NFT trading volumes. It's also you go labs and the U labs empire just to reminder you glad they're the creators of board apes, mutant apes. They also own crypto punks and they have a huge market share over the NFT space. Actually, one of the statistics from February was that ugo labs was responsible for essentially 30% of all trading volume on Ethereum based NFTs. So this company essentially owns all of them and that includes all of these NFTs that are a part of this dookie dash game, which is gained popularity, you know, people buying a sewer pass just earlier this week, the winning player of dookie dash sold their key, which they received for having the high score for 1.6 million. And there's so much hype that's going into this game. This company has amassed so much popularity and a lot of people just wanting to aphid to that community. And that's something that a lot of people have talked about is that a lot of people who are trading you collapse NFTs don't necessarily look for rarity. They just look to be a part of this community. So that's another reason why this trading volume has been so large. Kim, I had a question about blur, you said it's a no fee marketplace was blur also entangled in some of the debate about royalties in recent weeks. Yes, absolutely. So that's been a conversation that's been ongoing since Flores launched in October. When the royalty debate really started kicking off when marketplaces were switching from enforcing creator royalties to moving to completely optional, you know, a lot of people were pointing towards blur questioning this model as to whether or not it was fair for creators to be able to have their NFT sold on marketplaces where they're not earning any royalties. And for a lot of NFT creators, this is the whole reason why they got into web three in the first place. So a lot of marketplaces followed open sea reinforced their rule that they were going to keep royalties, but then after blurs native token launch, which was a couple of weeks ago and this was the first time that blurs trading volumes surpassed open seas, open sea switched to zero fee. So essentially no required royalties on the platform. So it's very interesting to see how the royalty conversation has been a huge part of the competition for market share within all of these different NFT marketplaces. One of the things that you touched on that I find fascinating about this story is the sort of gamification of the NFT space and being able to participate not just by buying something but by winning something by winning a winning a key and playing a game and being part of that community, how the community itself is part of the incentive to be there. So where are you seeing that going forward for the NFT space? Well, I think it's really interesting how so many collections have just amassed such a strong community. So much love over not just the IP, you know, the actual creative asset behind that NFT, but the people who are a part of it. And ape holders, very strong community, you know, they all came together to play this game, even beyond that, just the whole entire ugly labs eco ecosystem has really fostered a lot of people really passionate about it. And something else I want to point out that I think is interesting is earlier this week, yuga announced that they are doing ordinals. So they're releasing a generative art Bitcoin NFC collection. Yeah, super exciting. And this is their first non Ethereum based NFT. So, you know, it'll be interesting to see how in that they are able to kind of cater towards this community or amass a different type of audience. Or the same. Who knows? People, people love it. Crazy. Crazy. Oh my gosh, I'm looking forward to actually seeing how that works out. So yeah, great. Thanks so much, cam, cam Thompson. Thanks for joining us on the hash today. "Okay, let's move on to something I've been dying to ask you about. Okay. You have a new Netflix show called a couple. And your character suddenly finds himself single when his husband of 17 years leaves him. Now, I got to know because you know Netflix is a new HBO. You're right. They like to show AS, they like to show booty. They're like the show every day. Were you afraid to take that deep dive? Into the nakedness. No, I wasn't afraid. I'm far from modest. I was hedwig on on stage where I was not only almost completely naked, but talked. So I've shown almost everything. No, it's a beautiful pool show. I don't know. It's an interesting breakup show that's still from the creators of Sex and the City. And Emily in Paris. So it has a real interesting tone to it because it'll be comedic and fun and light. I'm a real estate agent and teacher Campbell is my partner. Oh my goodness. We're spending great fun times to get together through the construct of a breakup and then so then you're also dealing with a guy who's 47 48 years old who is now on grindr for the first time and has no idea what that means. And dating millennials and the 20 somethings and sort of trying to figure out what happened in the relationship and what happens in a relationship. So yeah, it's naked in more than one way. You know, emotionally, but also quite physically. What we love about you, you know, you came to us as doctor dookie Hauser, and now you have transcended, what do you think has been the key to your success because you've been unproblematic? You have this beautiful family. You still have this budding career. What do you think is the key to success? So we can help. He's been so authentic this whole time. That's what thank you. For me, I really enjoyed taking on different challenges and quite frankly, I enjoyed the process more than the results. I really like being on a set or playing a different kind of person or trying a different medium. And I also really firmly believe in karma. That's kind of my morals is if you make good choice knowingly good choices, then kinder things happen towards you and others. And the antithesis of that, I think, plays itself out even more so. I tell my kids a lot. You have opportunities to make good or not so good choices. A lot. Hold the door open for someone, not because you want something that happened to you. Because the person has bags in their hands. And you want to be a nice person. So I think good karma helps. And I don't know. I want a long career. I don't want like, I don't want to be a shooting star that flames out. Well, Neil, I get you on that. That's why I'm doing the large work right here by the agent sitting Lonnie every day. We love you. Thank you. We love you, Neil. And I will see you on season two. I'm ready to go. Coming up ever heard of Mitch. He's still loves Johnny. What? And we get personal with Tom Brady, I.

"dookie" Discussed on The Paul Finebaum Show

"Were listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. And we are back here on a Tuesday afternoon. Let's check in with will who is in North Carolina? Hello, will. No, it's dookie wheel. Dookie Hauser will is up next. After being received so rudely yesterday by you and Randy. Hey, Randy. Duke is on the phone. Yeah, many again, Randy. Now dookie, tell me this before I apologize to you, okay? What? You had to feel good about 1115 last night. Oh, I did. And I don't know if you were still up being such an old dinosaur. Well, I went home early yesterday about 3 o'clock, took a nap. And they wheeled me into we have a portable TV on a rock on a roller. They moved it into my room at the home, and. Now we're able to watch the game together. Oh, here we go. No, I just want to know if you stayed up late enough to see your friend Mark humor last night. Well, you know, I turned it off after that. I must admit, I did not care to watch the Mark emmerich. And I promised myself, because one thing I hate about the media, yeah. I hate the media to pile on. And I've already called the guy. Bozo the Clown on national television. I've suggested he should be fired. So I don't want to make fun of emirate the president of the NCAA for referring to what do they call them the Kansas City jayhawks? Kansas City, Jay hall. Yeah, I mean, this is a guy who basically has one job. He has no other responsibility other than to hand the freaking trophy, did I say that? Yes. To the winning coach and to mention the name of the school. So, okay, you're down to two schools. The university of North Carolina, which is very familiar with considering they nearly lost everything a couple of years ago in that academic fraud. And Kansas, the University of Kansas, who considering they probably should have been put on the death penalty, but they were. So all he has to say is the University of Kansas. Instead of the Kansas City, the only Kansas City I know the Kansas City rollers. I don't know. Thank you, no. I mean, I'm sure that like I said, he's had them in his crosshairs. We get that right, but if emirate can get the name of the national champion in the most important championship that the NCAA administers, what can he get right? When will he retire? He just got a new contract extension that will take him for about 5 more years. Probably about 5 million a year. This is lord. Where can I apply for that job? Indianapolis, Indiana. I'm on the way. All right, Paul. To get that job though, you have to suck up to every college president in the country. Well, I think I could do that. For 5 million, I could. Hey, let me assure you, dookie. I've done a lot more for a lot less. A significantly less. Anyway, David is up next. Hey, David, you're on the air. Hello, Paul. Hey, David. Yes, I'm calling from Alabama, the warrior river outside of Birmingham. Yes, there are no it will. First time color. In a very long listener, I remember the days of dawn from downtown. Oh my goodness. Don from downtown was probably the first celebrity caller on this show. And for those for those of you who have never heard him, and that would probably include most of you, because I don't think he's calling about 15 years, he was truly the all timer. I know Jim has been given that throne, but Don was classic. I remember when you told him he could find something racist in a stop sign. Yeah, you probably would never hear me say that again. No, I was calling about your best comebacks from an injury. And college football. Right. It transferred over into the pros. It was Alex Smith. Oh, yeah. You're right. He can barely walk. Yeah, because barely even move was thought he was going to lose his leg. And it came back through all those devastating surgeries. That's a good question. That's a good one. That is a very true. I'm glad you mentioned it. I totally forgot that one. And I got another thing to mention. And then I'll let you go. I also remember because I was from bessemer and I remember Charles Allen heads. Oh my goodness. Did he pass away? Yes, he did. Charles Allen head was the guy that would call in and say, happy Wednesday. Yeah. And then he would have long time he would quote something. I can't remember, what did he quote? He'd have a lot of poems. He'd make up some poems and most of them were, and I guess related to his wife, I guess. Yeah, I think you're right. He was a very interesting collar. Yeah, he died a couple of years ago and he was a fantastic. I think Don from downtown might still be alive. So if anybody has seen Don from downtown, tell him to call us. Guys like Don left this show when some callers just did not like the fact that show became popular. They liked it better when it was just a minor spot on the calendar on the dial. Anyway, Bryce is up next in Tennessee. Hey, Bryce. Hi, Paul. I was wondering, what do you think about how is the Tennessee basketball game going to do anything this year when they lost Kennedy Chandler? Do you think you think he's big enough? And he can make it to the next step to be their point Carter. What do you think? Yeah, I just saw that Kennedy announced on TV that he was leaving, it's a big loss. I think zigor is a really good player. I'm not, they're going to need more. I mean, they've recruited really well. He's just a matter of how Rick Barnes can put everybody in the right place. But he's capable of it. I don't think this is coming as a, as a total shock. Where do you think you'll land in the draft? I don't know that. Let me defer to some experts. I'm not an expert at anything other than punching buttons. So let me see if I can get back to you on that one. We'll take a break. More to come. More of your phone calls at 8 5 5 two four two 7 two 8 5, a number of guests will continue to join us and we are coming right back. Thank you for listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. "Of this His home finale here at Cameron indoor and the dookies finally getting going over here I have a 7 point lead rough start but 42 years big man coach K at duke and this is the final season in the final game at Cameron indoor it's crazy It's historic You know what coach K is not only meant to do but college basketball I mean you know you see these types of coaches historical coaches go most notably Dean Smith By the night all of these tremendous coaches that we get to see every week because they're basically on TV They're like pro teams And then it's the end of an era you know And That ticket is one of the hottest tickets on the Planet Earth to try to try and get So it's bittersweet Yeah it is and like you mentioned it it's going for more than or it went for more than Super Bowl tickets right We're talking upwards of $50,000 for the higher end Which is crazy to me I mean I don't For coach case finale Yeah How about coach K 75 years old He wears it well man He looks good for being around the youth That'll bring it out of you now Bring them being on that youth It means something I also think that the emotion of this final game you've got around 80 some former players that are there in attendance and they had a nice pre game ceremony and I just I don't know how you stay completely locked in and completely focused on this particular game And coach K is said he owes it to his current players to put them in the best position to win a ball game but easier said than done when you've got all that emotion and all that nostalgia I don't know how your mind doesn't drift a couple of times during the game where I don't know unless you're a complete robot as a human being it's gonna be really really hard to stay locked in for a full 40 minutes What do you say that most coaches have that robot gene where they can lock in They can literally compartmentalize emotion and lock in It's a trait that you must have as a successful coach You got to be able to block out the noise Do you think he can do that for a full 40 minutes I think if the game is well in hand second half coming down the stretch then that's when you will see the emotions start to bubble out But if it's a contested game then no you keep that in check Yeah Yeah Well we go from you know the high side with coach Kane illustrious career to the low side with your purple and gold in action tonight The Lakers taking on the warriors 8 games under 500 big man Now I seriously this isn't to troll you 'cause I know you're a Lakers fan Oh you don't have to troll me I don't know if I could be trolled It's just speaking the truth I mean I'm not one of those fans First of all I'm an analyst first Secondly I'm a fan And I'm not one of those guys who have delusions the Lakers are broken Ah man They are They're old they're broken they're unenthused And it's embarrassing And it has been the majority of the year So yeah I'm not I'm not like come on guys You know and there's a there's no silver lining Yeah As soon as we can put this thing to bed and we can get to watching real playoff teams go then that'll be that you know I keep wondering where rock bottom is That's my question Rock bottom is 11 Well that's true They've hit rock bottom 8 different times this season And it's like all right there's 6 games under 500 Now there are 7 games There are 8 games under 500 right now You know why that's not rock bottom yet Because they're still in the playoffs They're still technically they're still in they have an opportunity to play in the close season And what happens is you get that mindset of just as long as we have a chance Yeah they're going to get boat raced Yeah Right If they have to play either Portland or New Orleans and then it's got nothing for them And then have to play well I mean we've seen the Lakers being beaten by Portland also in Portland and guys who don't even start or couldn't start anywhere else So I'll never forget the postgame where Frank Vogel was like and nerf's not even playing right now but he's like there are two guys that could hurt us on the court It's Simon's and nirk We knew that And that's a game we gotta win And they still lost that game Yeah And so this is where we are when we talk about that Rock bottom is 11 And you don't have a shot Right Because they say oh if we play 9 versus ten we can win that And then we can play 7 versus 8 the winner out of 7 versus 8 Hopefully it's not the clippers If it's the clippers good luck and then you get a matchup and a playoff So they're still believing they're alive And I don't want them to have any breath or life I want it to be over So I can move on You're rooting against your Lakers I'll never root against them but I'm a Rudy I don't like the effort I don't like the effort And just to focus there's zero focus Yeah it's something that Tehran Lou said the clippers head coach just a couple of nights ago He was like we play hard every night This team plays hard every night and he's right about that And that's something you can't say about the Lakers No and that's all you ask Just go play hard You can watch the Lakers play and they'll start off the game on fire Moving defense moving the ball Third quarter it's like nothing They're tired they've gone in and have time They've come out the energy's not there anymore None of that And so it's hard to watch as a fan it's hard to watch That's why I very rarely watch the games live I have to tape them yeah I have to tape them And take it live No because first of all I fast forward through commercials And then second of all when they go into one of their many many many scoring droughts What I'll do is I'll push fast forward on the DVR And I'll watch the other teams points increase and watch the Lakers not score bucket Right It'll be 36 to 38 And Lakers and then it'll be 38 to 59 That happens a lot Just that fast Yeah Yeah man hey it's been a it's been a rough season I don't need to tell you that but this is what I was talking about This was to Ron Lu a couple of nights ago This is when the clippers beat the rockets earlier this week but he talked about the effort of his team that he sees all the time Check this out Like I said these.

Cameron indoor Lakers coach Kane Dean Smith Portland clippers Super Bowl Frank Vogel basketball warriors nerf New Orleans Simon Rudy Tehran Lou Ron Lu rockets

"What big man this duke North Carolina game started to get intense over here Dookie's got off to a big lead throughout by 11 heading into halftime I will admit it feels a little clunky This is the first Saturday without baldy talk about huh We're talking hoops over here We're making the transition as we ramp up towards Super Bowl Sunday How's everything going in your world though Good man I just you know I just You know I'm a little tired so I needed like a little pick me up like a sugar pick me up you know Okay Yeah So I would love to have like a king sized candy bar to just To really maybe just like like this boom like jump start me into the show but I don't have that That's a double fail by me because I thought this was gonna be the week It felt it in my bones It would be the week that I would stop being I'll back out artists you know a Welch whatever you want to call me for not paying up promptly from our yearlong You don't care You don't care It didn't quite work out And then the double whammy is we've done a show for a long time I've gotten to know you pretty well And I should have seen that from a mile away And I'm thinking what did you stop at Starbucks Did you have some coffee What did you have to pick yourself up and get a sugar rush And of course you're talking candy bar smack over here I should have known that was coming Yeah I mean I don't know what a guy has to do I mean the money was good and all but I can't eat the money You know I can eat a king size hundred grand candy bar though You could buy a lot of candy bars with that cash But I don't want to go buy a candy bar Yeah I would like to eat a candy bar that I won And for those joints just joining the show Brian Noah and I we have a wager something called the big three Where we pick against the spread all season long Just three weeks for the NFL games only and whoever has the best record at the end of the season this year it was 1000 American dollars and a king size candy bar As I predicted prior to the final game regular season game of the 2021 season Yeah I would have won the bit although we were even going into that last those last three picks I picked the Sunday Night game and I had made a statement on the show the day before that I probably should be paid before that game even kicks off And true reform that's what happened The sucky thing is you were wrong about the Sunday Night game too How did one matter But I told you it was your fault I gave you the out Brutal Just awful You just reopening wounds over here Just reopening that Well we can't heal a wound Right If we don't bandage it right and the only way to binge is the wound is to pay me what you owe me You know what I was thinking This is how my silly mind works I think I'm going to address it to you obviously And the return address I think I'm going to make it out to the forty-niners stadium and maybe it gets to Jimmy Garoppolo You know if it doesn't get to you it goes to Jimmy G because he could use a pick me up as well as he's looking for his new team and absolutely stunk up the joint something fierce last week You thought it was personal Call it like it is Just the guy comes right down to the fourth quarter chibi G can you make a play and he says absolutely not No I can not And you should have known that going in That's what Jimmy did I was Jimmy G fan right He had it Everything he wanted was right there in front of him Right I'm a fan of people who can seize the opportunity in the moment It was right there in front of him He could have not only solidified himself on the team moving forward but any team Yeah And he come completely Just utterly With the proverbial bed And it was hard to watch And it was just like oh God What I will say I mean it was tremendous there football last Sunday It was unbelievable Yeah and we thought after the divisional round like man how is championship Sunday Even gonna come close to similar drama and it did Close games chiefs bangles going to overtime props to you Who day at them So you want to talk about that You just want to jump on the bad aspect of last Sunday for me I mean you open the door and you wanted to just berate me because you feel like you've done an injustice by not paying me my bit So you want to raise something I got wrong So let's talk about the other side Go ahead and I'll let you continue and go Well you know putting a cap on the Jimmy G you're blind love for a guy who has no reason to be loved the way that you adore him Fourth quarter against the rams three for 9 for 30 yards And a game ending interception Awful Soldier glad to have Justin Herbert you know That's my By the way how about this fourth quarter in the Super Bowl against the chiefs It wasn't just that overthrow to Emmanuel Sanders that we all remember Jimmy G was three for 11 for 36 yards and an interception in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl loss against the chiefs So two of the last three years in the fourth quarter when it matters most in the playoffs Jimmy G has been a no show But that's just one aspect of the storyline Now what you got right you were on who day You called the upset Shades of the 1998 Atlanta Falcons heading into Minneapolis and taken down Randall Cunningham Randy Moss and company.

"Pretty good to talk to shrink. I dreams my favorite green day story story. If you'll indulge me for a second that green day show. And i believe san antonio texas and i love green. They loved him since the dookie album. When i was eleven a kid they they are the originators pop punk punk. But mike would you say. They brought pop punk to the to the to the mainstream. Yes so new. Every song dookie and i mean as it went brains to come on having trouble. Try to sleep. I just big fan. I go to the show green day and is probably ten years ago and the crowds. Love that who knows how to play basket case like okay you. There are only three people in green bay by the way amy drummer guitar player in a bassist come play. You play the play the betas. yeah guys. Baseball knows the song he grabs someone for the crowd. Play the bass drums. Oh was a drone to put to put the book. Crowd gone bonkers. Put it to put to put do now. Is a song and the guy on the basis from tom. Tom drum part because gaza play syntax. And so billy. Joe the lead singer who wants to because he was going to sing it while the people played the who flies probably guitar. You got parents got drugstore on all right here. We go in the guy planned the car clone to play guitar. Get up on stage. Ruined just wanted to have a shot in the bullet him off stage so billy joe kicks him down. They bill put back on and and they play the song but it was areas of san antonio. Go it all on that record though obviously basket case. You're doing long view right. But don't but don't don't don't yeah the long view and then when when i come around well going to Read yeah When i come around as a good one she she didn't silence what a jam do one All by myself at the very end of the muscle. yeah. I wasn't alone. I was thinking all right. There's our look back in at green day. An adult dancer and boyfriends sentenced for robbing an adult dance of eleven thousand dollars tip money. That's this person that was paying them right. They test do. They took the money from. Amy wanted to do this story on the air or a stripper story. On the air this morning and stopper. Yeah well. let's do it now the same story. But you're like now everybody's been to a strip club and i was like you shouldn't do that story What is this specific specific state ohio. They only you're only allowed to do something there. Oh ya you can touch them. If you're related to them. You can only touch the stripper. If you're related this chipper disturbing only touch the customer. They're related basically no touching unless you're related. Who's i don't know if you virginia's right. Sometimes laws are so funny. Bali's molly's at eleven and noon today. So i got swing over by molly. Your sister might deliver. Look like the mo the funny state laws. I'll do that for you if you want me. Do they're funny. Some that are so outdated and bizarre weird. But they're still nobody pays engine them. So they're still actually law raimondo. Thinks he has a chance to get on big brother's still again. This is thirteen time. He's done this he does. They do twists in the game. In the season's been going along and i said there was a guy from tennessee. That made it well. This isn't a spoiler alert because it's alive thing the dude got straight up evicted right away. He played probably the worst game of all time because he was just way too outgoing. Rub people the wrong way did a lot of backdoor stuff anyways so he got out right away. So i'm thinking maybe they're looking for a tennessee. Backup and i was easily topped seventy five. I would say in the entire country. Why do you keep saying you were. Raising reaganism semis. Because then after seventy five they cut it to fifty fifty people got. They didn't fly. La this year because of the mass and stuff but they did another round zoom interviews. Easily top seventy five. I'm telling and i looked at my contract. Signed a contract with cvs. They said there can be a twist. And if you were a semi-finalist you have to be prepared to go on the show. Sign the contract. Sign anything. It wasn't like i got paid thing that just said. Hey there's this you're agreeing to do this zoom interview. Just you know your interview can be used on tv okay and you can be part of a twist go sign. There's my signature so just letting you guys know there is a small ones reached out to you know but possible and i think it's tough for you to be a twist kovac. You would have to be quarantined for ten days. I mean it would take a long time to get you there too. Good point you might have just found hole in. That is not happening. I walked into. And i saw this morning is heroin is shoveled. It looks like he slept upside down. Does he have a black guy scratch. It wasn't a domestic so don't worry about it. He the best but he does have a black guy. So here's all over the place. And i said hey. Congratulations because why is it. Because you got so much hair. Now that it's all over the place gives you wonder for hair treatments. Was that what's happening. Look it's all all over the place but old ray. We didn't have that interest is fine though it was just a freak accident. Thanks.

Avoiding Weight Gain At Work

"It'll be no surprise that people have desktops tend to have a high a tendency to gain weight than an always on your feet type of role. Deadlines working from home and endless commitments can become all consuming with convenience often deriving our relationship with food. For getting that baking that went out doing at home and snacked rules that full. Thankfully are easy ways to control the influence that walk is having on your weight. This week's food for thought sees registered nutritionist Amelia Thompson, and I explore how you manage your weight combat stress and hopefully based you'll meet while working. Hello, Amelia. Hi. Hi. Thank you so much for coming on fever thought today. It's a topic that I know a lot of people are going to want to hear. Some troops behind and I'm going to start today's episode by saying that first of all wait is of course, extremely sensitive. It's individual in the language I think that we use is quite interesting when we discuss something like wait. So obviously, we can't. Contribute it to one specific reason. But how strong do you think the link is between? I guess being stressed than because I suppose stress must have a huge impact on people's lives. Yet and again, there is research in regards to to work stress and we know that the kind of level workshops that people perceive. So obviously, this is vague qualitative. This is so recorded stress. It's not a quantitative measure Percy, but we know that that does correlate with week gain. Interestingly, actually taint to be a stronger correlation people who are actually already over we and when I use this term overweight and obese I am talking about that kind of could BMI measure which does give us some indication of what competition. So actually those people in the kind of overweight or obese categories to begin with who they inexpedient strikes actually tend to struggle more on on at least two. More Waking Louis people who already maintain what we'd call a cool cool healthy weight. Yes. Sir Interesting 'cause I mean mentioned BMI and we know that we've discussed this multiple times on the podcast that it's not always the most accurate measure but we should also acknowledge I. Guess the stress at work can impact on some people perhaps going the other way and actually eating less as well. Couldn't it? Yet and I think that offer tends to be more of a short term response where we get not initial stress just where we get increase in cortisol arm we have. What we call impacted dominance a week fall into that fight or flight mode and not short-term wants does tend to reduce hunger levels and we tend to eat less and I think works Sean at Green what we'd find with people who have a lower body we Are Those people that use food almost as a way to control something when feel very out of control potentially in their work environment so distresses impacting their work vehemently feeling Sarasin, and so they fall to two can find that certainty. I think that's often where we find out reduction body we and but predominantly does take to be longer term chronic changes does to be people actually dookie weight and response to these works strays ours. Yeah. Of course, and do you think there's agenda thing going on as well? Perhaps, a different way that men and women tend to react. Yeah I think. So again, when we look at coping mechanisms for men and women and women tend to turn more towards fit and maintained to turn more towards our caller smoking. So and there was a study that looked at men and women linked to obesity and structurally to eating, and actually there was only a relationship finding the women and actually main have this relationship between stress and obesity. So it may not that that women are unhealthy are parasail because you know if men are turning to things like alcohol or smoking that's not necessarily healthier, but it's just that the detained to fall towards. District coping mechanisms not women. So this does tend to be more focused and women at least in terms of strikes in the workplace.

Visiting Virunga National Park in the DRC

"I'd like to welcome to the show. Neil from Ireland. WHO's come to talk to us not about Ireland but about Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo meal meal? Welcome to the show thanks. It's great to be here now. We're talking to an Irishman about an African country. What is your connection with Virunga National Park Mark with DRC? I came across Franca. Maybe like a lot of people scrolling through next lakes and came across to Verona documentary was Oscar nominated donated a couple years back Across and when I watch this and I saw the conservation work being done there. I kind of felt a nose and the theon says well ever since we've been kind of keeping tabs on the park keeping tabs on to charity in the work. They're doing kind of daydreaming about coming here someday. Someday and fortunately a couple of months ago we got to choose and spent eight days in the park. And if we I wanted to put it on a map we're in the DC. So were in the western half of the southern part of Africa and where we within the Democratic Republic of Congo Virago. National Park is Roy's on the eastern edge of the DRC. And if you were to put on a map you're pretty much in in debt. Exact heart of Africa. So there's a very large cece Ghouma which is about a million people and the park ruins north from there along the border with Rwanda and Uganda excellent. And why should someone go to for National Park. Okay so I just Kinda tree. Main reasons people generally go to vulgar. I I swear I is the picture postcard. It's near Dongo Volcano. So for those of you don't know it's one of the only active laugh lakes Exon art so it's very very unique thing. I think there's only seven in the whole globe so that's a really big attraction the second power to to this is melting guerrillas. So again there's only three places on earth you can see mountain. Gross National Park is one of those and then finally when I'd say as Virunga is one of the oldest and degrades national parks on earth and wounded world's gray conservation projects and you can visit it with almost no other tourists so it's really a chance to see a great African National Park pretty much share says and when you say there are only a couple of other places you I can see mountain gorillas. You happen to be a stone's throw from them when you're in a national park absolutely so not grits. Basically the only live in the mountains and those mountains straddle the Rwandan Ugandan and DRC barter so within an hour urine in basically it's the same guerrillas and they actually do pass back and forth across the border and thrown guys just worn out those treat locations but there's some differences in in terms of price ace and the size of the group. You'd be with so can talk a bit about this when we talk about grits Deidra okay but really that areas why. I wanted to make sure that people understood is where we're win. We're all the way over there to the east. That means we're really just across the border from Uganda. What kind of are you going to recommend for US earth too? So I know gingerly generally on your podcast for kind of a week. Itinerary and Veronica some flexibility when we're going as far as Africa absolutely and I guess a lot of guests if they go to Africa. They're likely to maybe tag. This onto a maybe a wider trip or wider safari. Sorry so Veronica is actually very flexible so anything between kind of two days to eight days. You're going to see quite a lot. And there's kind the four main sites within the park and depending on your interests and preferences you can mix and match them so if you really only want to see the volcano you can be in forty not eight hours if you want to do everything about eight days and what we did was we. We spent quite a lot of time. There we dare nineteen days so we did everything quite a bit of detail and we can talk data entry but you can abs- dookie slice and dice it to fit your time-scale excellent and where should we start anyone. Visiting Virunga is going to be coming through the lower city of Goma. Now Goma is kind of an interesting place For want of a better. That's word so it's it's a city of a million people would huge number of those being UN peacekeepers and NGOs. It's always been in the power of the word. That's a little bit chaotic. And I found when I was looking at open. Your your listeners. Might find interesting is if you go on Google alert. There's two the twin cities. Most people will come in from Rwanda your fly into Kigali which is only about two to three hour drive into the border crossing and there's a town Cassini and Rwanda which is more twin the goal Matt Iran Roy's teacher. There's no real clear bar between the except if you look look on Google alert you can. Even if there was no barter on the map you could absolutely tell the difference between Rwandan D. R. C. On one side of the dimap map. There's these beautiful houses. Lovely Straight Roads Gardens Greenery and on the other side during his chaos absent whose that notre chaos and to be clear. You're you're side absolutely but chaos in isis going. So is an unusual place. I think the feeding on got there. It was kind of POMPEII in waiting. So the first thing that would really strike you when you get into Goma is developing near Dongo frames your the entire view so you look out over the city and in the very near distance is an Uruguayan. Go at eight. Tenths give out a a lot of clouds of smoke pretty much all day round and that's not a fake sewing. Volcano is very much active and erupted in two thousand and two was the most recent and and Flow True City caused quite go to visit damage. You'll still see when you drive through to see see places where say there was a two story house house and now the entrance is on the first floor because the whole ground floor is now basically solidified lava. It's an unusual usual spot. It's not one that I suspect. Most visitors spend any great toy man so like false wego barter and we a mess our guide who took US pretty much true Goma without stopping so we drove through the city. It's perfectly safe during the day but you kind of I think the most interesting power to the city is just to see I think for anyone who's experience either hasn't been in. Africa are as experience maybe more to safari lodges and that client side. It is a good introduction to maybe some of the more real day to day experiences underground it would awake in your senses for better or worse. But it's very interesting place to pass through and you mentioned meeting your guide. How did you find a guide for this trip? Spoiled it being quite a complicated power to the world. This was probably one of the easiest trips. I've ever taken so to go to the National Park because of the security region the organize everything centrally. So your point of contact would always be the national park and they have a specific tourist department that looks after all logistics. Ice was wanted under things that concern me day. One was a land border that I have to cross in Africa and does not always a reassuring thing to be doing so actually when I was underground founded wonderful laws when you cross the border into the DRC. There's actually a very very modern building thing that was actually funded by Howard. Both I think is one of he wanted years. He does a lot of charitable work so he actually Biz modern. Warren Buffett. Aso's Sorry Actually Warren Both its broader or other. Okay yes so. I think he's actually a partner in the business and he's also equally successful at he's actually hugely involved in Goma and national packets of and as has done amazing work. And actually when you go around here you'll see lots of signs bearing these names where he's foundation has done. Great work to actually Barda. Crossing itself is fantastic. It's like a modern kind of airport tight building and wanted conditions. Wins all of this very fancy building being used was that for the National Park. Were actually given an office inside in the Border Patrol area. So when you go in you don't meet Garrett's you don't meet people checking your passport. You actually meet your tourist. God who will take her passport. Kgo Eight eight-point scenes and organize everything for you while you sit comfortably in their tourist office so for anyone who's nervous about crossing borders navigating like that this is absolutely nucle- The easiest thing in the world it's not something to be concerned

The Symphonic Side of Wynton Marsalis

"Wynton Marsalis was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his work. Blood on the fields at two and a half hour jazz or thorough about a couple moving from slavery to Freedom Freedom Heaven Jus- own freedom is on his aw. It was the first time a jazz composition had ever won. But even the Wynton Marsalis is best known as a jazz trumpet player he also as a classical composer. Sorry himself he has written four seemed funny as and a Violin Concerto and this year he released a recording of symphony number three the swing symphony with adjusted adjusted Lincoln Center Orchestra Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Robertson. In these but guess extra Wynton Marsalis sits down with Kurt Andersen to talk about his love of classical music. He says it all started with a chance encounter on a New Orleans Streetcar when he was just a kit. So guy went into the back of the STREE- rijkaard white trump'll from college. which was unusual for a white guy? DOOKIE saw my trumpet trumpet case. Weight as a kid in the in the seventies. You're you're you're sitting in the back of the Streetcar. 'CAUSE 'cause that's the wire you didn't have to was not required that's where you were just was a mandated. You you wanted to sit there. Yeah but it was an area that was not populated with white. Gotcha so this student for. Some reason stepped across those lines and put his trumpet case down by mine so I was not dead daddy to see him. Everybody of course started looking at him and he was insisting on. Tell me something I was kind of not as friendly and fuzzy as I should have been but then he gave me an album just absolutely ran. mcgurn said check this album and it was an album of a trumpet. Player named Maurice Andrey and I thought you know classical music okay. Okay man the famous French but I didn't know he was a dead time. I was thirteen and I read the the album jacket or something said that his parents were coal miners and man. Is People. Disguise people worked in coal mines and he played classical trumpet. I got to put this on when I get home so I put it on. It was a recording.

Remembering Leah Chase, "Queen of Creole Cuisine"

"Weekend. He was known as the Queen of Creole cuisine Gumbo. Goodness. That's the mole the Gumbo. And even the green almost she remained. Oh, that's New Orleans, mayor La Toya Cantrell. Remembering chase he used to say, quote in my dining room. We changed the course of America over a bowl of Gumbo, and some fried chicken are on Debbie Elliott spoke with chase back in two thousand fifteen about the restaurant called Dookie chases, specially in, I'm wanting to, to see black said they had not been at old. No, nice places. But I thought on the other side of town. No nights restaurants has that she made a restaurant, a meeting place for leaders of the civil rights movement. Here's mayor Cantrell again, play a major role and creating that safe space so that we can ensure that the civil rights that the struggle that we were able to move forward through them and adversity. And having the courage to create a defaced space conversations. That could happen. And they were used that vehicle. Then we social change chase for the likes of Dr Martin Luther King, and that king Cole. But her restaurant almost closed for good after Hurricane Katrina, nothing you can do, but ride it out and take the whip it'd come back again. Come back again. She did people celebrated when she reopened in two thousand seven mayor Cantrell, not only did she feed the bodies of New Orleans. She really fair so Leah. Chase died on Saturday. Ninety six.

NCAA Tourney Preview

"Tournament is allegedly underway. Let us bring a man who will be calling many of the games all the way through the national championship Turner sports analyst and somebody we watched play in high school. You're even old now south lakes high school. Let's start with this. I ask you as an analyst Dookie when you watch Zay on. What do you see? Wow. See explosiveness? I see, you know, see almost like a combination of a linebacker who jumps like Vince Carter. Is really nothing we've ever seen before in terms of his explosiveness athleticism. But also how hard he plays and steals activity has energy just off the charts. We're so used to comparing people you really can't compare them because there's really been nobody quite like him. That's how unique Zion. Williamson is all right grant beyond Duke. You've had a chance to study the brackets who do you like beyond the blue devils? I mean who jumps out to you as a team that could could at least get to the final four not further. While there's a lot of teams, and I know a mouse opposed to say this. But I think North Carolina is really talented trouble for that. I can get in trouble for that. So I if anyone says anything I'll just pretend I'm seeing Smith, but but not North Carolina. Roy Williams has done a fantastic job. I do think UVA they've had a lot of setbacks adversity in the tournament. But I do think this is this is Tony Bennett's most talented team. And I think they'll get through and get to the final four. I think Michigan state. I know they're in the same region as Duke, but I I was at the big ten conference tournament last week. I followed them Tom Izzo. This team is just balanced tough. They defend they can score. They really don't have a weakness at all as a sleeper team. I like Texas Tech the best defensive team in the country. They got a kid Jerry Kover who's probably wanted to top five players in college basketball that nobody knows about he's capable as they are. Taking a long run. And I love Florida state. You know, I love what they've done Leonard Hamilton. They won twelve of thirteen games in the regular season. People forget they got to the ACC conference finals loss to Duke. But they have a lot of death in very talented. So there's teams out there. Other than Duke believe it or not that are capable for long run. I'm gonna ask you to put all your old man hat for second. You and I did this a little bit the other night in Chicago during the big ten turnament. Will you go back to that last year? Even when you lost to Arkansas Scotty Thurman shot sorry to bring this up. You had seen your late and teams teams at three or four all Americans seem to time. And when you're watching now played there, but you're watching now this one and done era are the guys that he good. I mean, you look at them and think, yeah, these guys could have played when we did and won something. That's a good question. I think I think I think there's some really talented players and a lot of young talented players. But you know, the difference was you had older players more experienced players who had the opportunity maybe go pro who didn't think that UNLV team in nineteen ninety blue blue out Duke and Denver in the championship game. And you had Stacy Augmon.

2019 March Madness Begins

"So the March madness frenzy is now underway because the bracket. I'm holding one in my hands. Just won. I usually fill out two or three. But I'm holding one pristine perfect bracket in my hands. It's only perfect because I haven't yet started filling out winners and losers. That's where you come in. We've got the after hours bracket challenge. Now, you've got the bracket you've got a couple of days to Termine who the winners will be and how you plan on taking out the crew we are inside the rocket mortgage by Quicken Loans studio rocket mortgage is with you every step of the way to provide a seamless mortgage experience. I would love to hear from you about the bracket about what stands out can I tell you what stands out for me about selection Sunday. How wonderful it was to have CBS go on the air and sixty seconds later. We were doing brackets Beatty. Don't make me sit through bunch of analysis and predictions. When I know you're hiding the brackets. Gimme gimme gimme gimme the brackets now and PBS went back to basics. I would say this. If it was any other network. There is absolutely no need for a two hour show that favors the brackets until the final thirty minutes for heaven sakes. It was boring last year. And it was. Drama that was unnecessary because the brackets bring their own drama. So I love the fact that within sixty seconds of the selection show starting on Sunday on CBS. We were already seeing the first bracket which featured Duke as the overall number one this year wasn't that way until Zion Williamson returned and the blue devils ran through the ACC championship if you didn't stay awake. So you're on the east coast, and you didn't stay awake or you had other plans on Friday night and missed Dookie UNC. All it was a fantastic tug of war. It was so good all the way until the end. So we'll talk about that game as well. As what do you did to win the and secure its spot as the number one seed a lot changed over the last couple of days among the ones and the twos. But for the blue devils their fourteenth time as a one seed, although the first time is the overall number one since two thousand fifteen. The other three top seeds Virginia in the south. Now remember last year Virginia with coach Tony Bennett was the overall number one and lost to a sixteen. First time it's ever happened. You remember the name? So this year the Cavaliers the who's our second in terms of the top seed. So the second overall seed. And they've actually got the defending champ in their south region. So Villanova won a third consecutive big east title, but because of the roller coaster ride for the Wildcats season Villanova's a six seed so interesting there we'll hear from head coach Jay Wright a little bit later on. You also have the big bracket BUSTER coming out of the pack twelve Oregon the twelve seed after winning four games in four days to capture the automatic bid. So love it when that happens when a team that wouldn't have gotten in other wise ends up winning the conference tournament. That's the true definition. Of the madness and the little guy having an opportunity every team having the same opportunity to get into the field of
