That really. aren't there to support you and in fact the burden of resolving your own pain and discomfort and your wounds and trauma on the you. That's absolutely a theme throughout the series. And you hear time and again from folks like raven and other students. Black students Lgbtq students and you see that in due hans comment about ravens appearances as though somehow the fact that she is a beautiful person should insulate her from racial violence. And it's very clear because this incident happened now years ago or a couple years ago that that didn't work for raven we reached out to the cow independent school district about ravens experience and her recording the principal in the recording. "I could still come up that way. So this ownership is going through my head when this kid you know. He's kind of like a beautiful soul but on a heater. So fucking hate him. Glides up to me in sweats my five days off suit and everyone's in there and it comes six four three. Well i checked you know very sneaky and some guy who's kind of tight who had the best forty into this you know limp everyone putting ten pre and then the guy just shipped on when i'd as ten off suit and i three bet from the small blind check called the flop checked the turn and ship the river with nothing you know maybe the best hand but just in case he had something a little bit better he calls the guys forty. I go to one eighty okay. Now i've shown to aggressive actions. I squeeze with quainton lawsuit shipped it on the jack nine x flop and i three bit east. All students small blind. No one saw an all in on hand to play. Doohan's have been been all in both of them and you know that's going to happen when we're short stacked anyways. I think i can go to a big sizing here Even though i have a straight and the guy who bet folds and the guy who who who had called them the guy. I shit on the previous hand. He calls and the turns a ten. That doesn't that's a brick. And i just go all in because you know we're not super deep and it's just something people do with like apparent open ended and i know my majority and this guy snapped calls and the river is nothing and He had seven five. Wow so a fucking cooler. We both flop streets in his limp pot. And now i'm stuck. And i wrote hollywood. Moose is a much he is and he just glided away from my table to some other table to play the same game in. He's gonna get table changed in our game soon. So you know. The job moose. Okay the next hand i play. I have five three again. In the ten dollar on the straddle check and it comes. Jack ford deuce. That's a good flop for me in many ways on the one that has all the to pair combos if anyone in that used to be but now it's building if anyone that building even cares about that shit on the one with all the two pairs and As the shuttle right. I'm just in with any to me. Because i think it raised in. I'm actually open ended. So i bet and a tight player or conservative type player calls and it turns a nine and now i bet on one rep that to pair. Wanna give them a full well. He goes all in so he obviously turned to pair up to set good for him. I wrote mussa's the worst..

Bryan Cranston on new TV drama "Your Honor"
"Bryan cranston. The star of amc's breaking bad returns to series television for the first time since that show left. The air in a new showtime miniseries called your honor which begins on sunday. Cranston plays a new orleans. Judge whose life is torn apart after his teenage son gets into some sudden and very serious trouble are tv critic. David be cooley. Has this review bryan. Cranston had played the goofy dad on the fox sitcom malcolm in the middle then. Redefined himself brilliantly as walter white. The meek high school chemistry teacher in breaking bad. What made walter break. Bad was the sudden news that he had contracted terminal cancer leading to a series of increasingly momentous decisions. In the new showtime miniseries. Your honor cranston returns to series tv playing another character who gets some sudden life changing news. This time he plays. Michael desio a compassionate judge in new orleans and a single parent raising his teenage son after the death of his wife a year ago in an unexpected tragedy. On the day of that saturday anniversary the sun adam played by hunter. Doohan experiences an unexpected tragedy of his own after leaving flowers at the convenience store where his mother was an innocent bystander. Shot by robbers has an asthma attack while driving away he searches for his inhaler on the passenger seat and as he takes his eyes off the road he slams into a motorcycle driven by another teenager. Adam after returning home tells his father what happened next. Where did this happen. Okay okay so would be the new hospital. Then the emeralds. Taken to what in new orleans and i don't know well the police must have sex. Overweight drove away before the tried to can give you called nine hundred time to try to at least yes or no please. I could breathe okay. I got you guys. This ten part series begins like the. Hbo mini series the night of following a young man. He descends deeper and deeper into a horrifying spiral of accidents and consequences that engrossing 2016 mini series was created by peter moffett who adapted it from his own british series. Moffitt is the adapter of your honor as well but this time he's not working from his own story showtimes. Your honor is his new version of a twenty seventeen. Israeli drama called ca- votto which has the same basic plot and is available of sample on youtube but for this adaptation for the united states. The location is changed in new orleans and other elements are given an american spin from police brutality. To local criminal activity one thing stays the same though. And it's thing that makes your honor so gripping from the start the father doing the right thing as both a judge and a citizen escorts his son to the police station to turn them in with an explanation but when he gets there he sees the father of the victim and recognizes him as a powerful local mob boss. All of a sudden the judge realizes that to turn his son in would be to signed his death warrant so from that point on. What is the right thing to do. And how many people does he have to enlist or deceive to do it. There's a certain flavor of breaking bad this because we're essentially put in the position of sympathizing with and rooting for a person who's breaking and avoiding the law but that's not a complaint because breaking bad may be the best tv drama series ever made and bryan cranston once again crafts a marvelously nuanced and empathic performance. And in your honor. He's not alone. The executive producers in addition to moffitt in cranston include robert and michelle king the talented creators of the good wife. So both the characters and the legal twists are fully drawn hundred. Doohan as the judge's son has the same relatable acting skills cranston and needs to since he carries most of the show's opening our and other riveting characters and actors abound michael stool barred from. Tv's fargo plays. The mob boss and hope davis plays his wife as very fierce and involved sort of carmela soprano to his tony and while margo martindale from justified in. The americans doesn't show up as the judges mother-in-law until episode four. Wow is she worth the wait. The writers on your honor include moffitt himself and the directors include clark johnson. An actor and director way back on homicide life on the street and edward. Berger who did a marvelous job directing another showtime miniseries patrick metros showtime provided only four of the ten episodes of your honoring advance. Each one. both impressed and surprised me and made me hungry to see the next cranston's michael ziada is smart enough to think on his feet and almost every scene requires him to do just that to avoid exposure endanger and to protect his only son whatever the repercussions to others the series title. Your honor isn't just the judge's work title. it's also at the center of the show. When it comes to your family would you do to save them. And what effect will that have upon your moral code your relationships with others and your honor

We deal with the struggle of people that are debating putting their home on the market. So if you Finally come to the conclusion and you're listening to all the evidence and all the professionals and you decide to put her house on the market. Um, I talked about preaching patients. Once you get it on the market. Let's talk about the things you need to do to prepare your home for sale. You know, first and foremost, you know, every year we have people that we got to take pictures of the house and have all the Christmas stuff up. Um, you know, you can't do that. You can put it up. You know, maybe in a much more neutral, lighter tone than you normally would be having the huge Christmas tree and taken up all the space. Unfortunately, you're going, Teo, you know, cause problems that people seeing stuff in your home homes or more cluttered when they have holiday decorations. If you're going to sell your home, it doesn't mean you can't decorate. It just means I know you don't need the Clark Griswald spread. You know, during if you're selling your house, you need to tone it down. You need to have everything be a little bit lighter than it normally would. But other Additionally, you know if you're if you're someone that has a lot of lights and a lot of things plugged in. You could cause inspection issues with electrical challenges that get triggered from having all the sex ter electricity, you know problems so so don't don't overdo it with Christmas decorations in a year that you're selling the other challenge. You run into him a comma Christian. I'm not afraid to say it. But there are people out there they are, and they don't celebrate Christmas that I have a different belief system. You might offend them and let's face it. You really care the religious belief system as someone who buys her home. As long as they put that money in the bank, you know, and so you could potentially offend them, Not just with them seeing the home, but in the photos, you're also dating your photos. Imagine if You're home hasn't sold by January, 1 and you've still got your Christmas tree and all your Christmas decoration in the lights up on the house. It's a problem, you know. So if you're going to sell your home during the holidays, you know this is the year that you you want to tone down. Your de corps doesn't mean you can have some beans. Don't overdo it. Another lot of people move. Sorry. A lot of things around. You know when they're when they're decorating for Christmas. I know in our house, you know what chair gets moved for the tree or or this that the other stuff. And so if you do that, it may appear more cluttered and not, as is natural heirs flowing as a cz the rest of the year and you want to present your house in the best way and the most open way to a potential buyer. You had no question. I think another part of it is, you know you have a lot of family in town. And if your family is like my family, they don't pick up after themselves. They crap everywhere. They come over to your house, daily blankets and, you know, you know, opened candy bars and trash all over the place. You're gonna have family in town. If you live in Florida, and guess what, they're not going to pick up after themselves, because you know what they really care about what your house sells or not, they care about being on their vacation. So you know if you're gonna have family in town, man, Just just do your best to not invite the cousins and uncles don't clean up after themselves. Maybe invite you bite the side of the family have actually picks up after themselves Because you're gonna have a problem with that. The other one I see is people have a lot of family in town murdered holidays. They want to restrict the showings. They want to say, Well, you know, I got family in town this week. I don't want to show the house. I mean that that nothing is worse for a real estate agent and someone saying, I don't want to sell my show my house for a week. It's like the Scarlet letter. You're eating up days on market. You're eliminating your ability to get the best price. I mean, if if you're going to sell your home during the holidays, commit to it. That means don't don't turn down showings because you got your you know, your cousin's in town. They're going to leave crap everywhere. It means, you know, stick to the plan and cab them. Say the hotel. They can go. Stay at the You know, the Super eight. Get here they go. Holiday Inn. That means Say, your house this year. You're selling your house this year, You know they can have a year off. So You know, Clark Griswald experience isn't what people need to see when they're trying to buy your house. Yeah, if you're going to list your house, and you're gonna list it with the donkey Doohan and a professional really stage and that's gonna price it right. Get it right. You need to plan you're gonna have showings and probably quickly. So this idea that you're going to listen? No. It'll be a couple of weeks so that things were gonna come quickly because of the amount of demand that is out there so Be prepared for that, you know, and make sure the house is ready to be able to be showing because again, you don't want to restrict potential buyers. Yeah, no question about it. You don't want to date the marketing, too, If you if you don't price writes, another key to it is You know part pricing The home right is super crucial. Um again, you just any time of year is always crucial Price the home right?.

"So you're experiencing it as if you were there as if you were part of it so that's that's much more than a reference book or the cyclopes. It has all that information but the information is organically inserted and I use. My background is a screenwriter to find the drama and make it dramatic story like we're watching a movie about the making of a star Trek, not necessarily a documentary. But but more more like a docudrama. except it's all real, you're hearing their words if you were gonNA turn this into a film production. A movie. You can certainly do it as a documentary and you've got voiceover tracks. Interview tracks cut together but if you did it as a docudrama miniseries. Making Star Trek and hired actors, play these parts, the dialogues all written for them because it all comes from the interviews it all comes from the memos and the letters they sent to each other and so forth as a matter of fact, we have an audio book out on on season one. And Vic Mignona who plays captain. Kirk, on Star Trek continues. We should brought them on here. You know if we do this again, we should pick on to be part of the program but he he he did it and it has a cast of almost a hundred including DC Fontana including a lot of people who were there Ralph's and Eski. Director Bobby Clark played the Gorn Sean Kenny on and on and on people who were in the series during the first season and working on the series during the first season and for people who passed away like Leonard was going to do it Leonard Nimoy but but he passed away before we we started recording. And So his son Adam, who sounds a lot like his dad? Does all Leonard's parts and and James Doohan son Chris Doohan who plays Scotty on Star Trek, continues. Does his dad's parts. You know from the interviews that I did from the the memos and letters and everything else and we have Rod Roddenberry Gene Roddenberry son in there and so so it's really you just you can read the book or you can listen to the But it's it's like a like a radio play it's It's a big production with a lot of different voices coming and going. So let's talk about gene roddenberry's more end kind of talk about what he was doing before he started writing starter because he had a whole bunch different jobs basically before he became a TV writer producer. So teams a little bit of background about Gene Roddenberry. He became the TV mogul who was a very, very successful. TV. Writer but even before that he was a pilot captain in the Air Force during World War Two in the in the Philippines any flu a by a bomber. Believe it was a b seventeen and survived a crash mechanical failure caused the. That's my dog wants to make himself. Caused the bomber to crash and I think two, maybe three of his crewman died. In that crash. So, he saw. The. Worst of life I mean, he fought in a war he saw the lowest man could go and then he became a commercial. Pilot after that Twa Pan Am and and he was on passenger because you know when you're a pilot, you'll still you'll fly a plane to a certain destination and another pilot takes over because you can only fly so many hours at a time and you gotta take a break and so he hitched a ride on another flight to get back to city where they wanted him to. Fly the next to a flight out that he would pilot. So he was a passenger on this ship in uniform you know from the airline. And that that jet crashed in the desert in the Middle East in hostile territory and and with a couple of broken ribs. So the pilots everybody in the cockpit died so and quite a few passengers died too and and so he broke a couple of ribs but he led the surviving passengers out of the desert. miles and miles and miles to get to safe territory where they wouldn't get killed and So and then he became a policeman for the Los, Angeles for LAPD and rose to the rank of sergeant. He was a motorcycle cop at first and then at the very end, he was writing speeches for the chief of police and then he he was also sent to be a technical advisor. A lot of police shows and and supplied stories dragnet based on true stories. You know he would want to find the stories in the files of LAPD because he wanted to be a writer and so he had all that experience behind him. before he became a TV writer and he never had to shoot anybody as a cop. But he. Did Uses gun to kill a dog that had been hit by a car and the dog was suffering and dying, and he took out his gun and ended its misery. Because, he loved animals and and so that's where he came from and then a TV writer he sold about one hundred scripts They're all in there and in the book and you kind of walk through, there's a big chapter that opens it with gene roddenberry's life and early career 'cause it's all very important because he brought all this background to star Trek. And he was the top writer on a on a very popular. Western series in the nineteen fifties called half gun will travel with Richard. Boone he wrote more scripts than anybody else. He won a writers Guild Award for one of his scripts and then he started producing and He produces series called the lieutenant which he created, which Gary Lockhart was in started. And Robert Vaughn who then went on to do man from uncle and Gary. Locke of course was in two thousand and one. But he was in the Star Trek pilot where no man has gone before is Gary Mitchell who gets turned into a God. and. God like being with powers and So he did that series and it got cancelled not because of the ratings were bad but because he was telling edgy stories and one in particular, really upset the network upset the Pentagon who were allowing the series to be filmed to camp, Pendleton in California and so the addicted if you put this episode on the air, you're not going to get to film here anymore and he fought to get it on the air. So. It did and and then the the show was cancelled. So at that point, he decided if he was going to do another series if he was going to create another series and try to produce another series, he wanted it to be a show where he could talk about the subjects that he wanted to talk about and star Trek became that show because he could do stories about Vietnam could do stories about racism and God and sexism and overpopulation and and everything else. Because it's taking place on different planets and it's in the future and he could get by the NBC sensors by doing that type of show although there were lots of fights. So once he got started, and of course, the pilot was the cage I've got a question for you about that original episode. This is something that's bug me since like forever. So. This is a moment that's really early on the episode and it's really quick but there's a moment where we see pike walking down a corridor in the ship and as he's walking, he's passed by a young couple who are basically wearing clothes that would have been contemporary for nineteen sixties and not the time period show actually takes place. He's folks wearing shorts and. It. Doesn't look like it's very anachronistic. So I'm just curious if you. had been on the in the gym or something I think they're they're like carrying tennis rockets to or something because the ship ship had areas where you're on a five year mission. So it had areas where you could go and exercise and recreation rooms and things like that, and and so you kind of see these people walk by very quickly and it's a little bit jarring Yes, it was very bizarre to see them. I guess, makes sense I just don't really even address it. It's just like Hey who's yours to folks who just walked in from nineteen, sixty, five on this futuristic spaceship. So I'm glad I got an explanation for that finally. But you know..

Wow Yeah and you don't want that for eighty two that has to have like a grand jury when you first encountered onscreen and it doesn't mean you can tell It's so funny. The the tricks of the day always involve massive scenery and tiny people. They could probably have them walk out onto a small green screen pulpit on a lighting raid or something and then they generated all of that stuff around the Beaujolais in two thousand one is giants facebook people so they do that with the little guy on the platform to give it scouts. But you know just narrating. They discovered that like they never able mountains before so they have discovered a frontal way to to make random mountains. And that's when I saw it a kid. I was saying that that planet animation and all the BRIDGE TECHNOLOGY LOSE DOT. It was projected in new ways. So there was a new level of sophistication and like I think. The design of the movies is seconds and like little things like just a little dots around the the the she. It really makes you like then. Of course I guess that I battle with him conning gone L. Send it right now right kid. A book of kind of like Star Trek designed stuff. That was so cool for the reasons that you're talking about. It was like the minutia of the design of everything from the control panels to the ship and the lettering. And when I'm looking at the original series again now I can't think of another show I certainly can't think of another TV show. That has an oral landscape as definable as they figured out. "This episode is going to be great. So so he'll roddenbury according to the Ark of roddenberry because he thought that this was dead and it wasn't GonNa go near. He's just kind of looking for a money grab he allowed things to happen in the run of the animated series that he never would have actually allowed had he been like thinking. This was going to be something that would go forward forward. Sure who can predict that exactly exactly and so he kind of always regretted the animated series and considered it to be Apocryphal. Colonel like a faint like fan film just by people that he used to work with kind of a thing right so he's sort of de canonized it because he's Roddenberry and he can do that kind of stuff off well. He dies back in back in the nineties. Say it was late eighties early nineties somewhere around there. STAR TREK DOT COM re added the animated series to its list of official Star Trek series in two thousand six so there was no like official announcement of like. We're making cannon again but they kinda did when they did that and oh by the way several several future series including future movies reference. Lots of things that happened throughout the course of the animated made in series but none more so than the episode. We're talking about today. I there were lots of things and that. That's something I thought about like when as watching something this. This kind of gives a lot of details. Not only about Vulcans but right but spock in particular and so I'm like I had that thought going through here. It's like if this is all considered Canon like that adds a lot to the story a lot of it. And here's what what happened. Was Future Writers of Star Trek who watched the animated series. And they just look for little things to pull in. And because they're writing official Canon when they canonize certain elements share of the animated series. So for some people they say none of the original animated series is Canon except for this episode. kind of I think what the general consensus with most people is. The animated series is Canon except for where it conflicts with other live action series which they take precedence precedence. Now that's not hard to believe because that's not a hard thing I think for people to grasp because live action series contradicts former live action action series as well throughout the history star Trek. Yeah we just talk about ret conning. Then that's kind of this new. Yeah Yeah it really is but I mean like a couple of things that that become. I don't know whether you see what you say. Did become cannon. Things like Amanda spock's mom like her last name is Grayson. Yeah this is the first time that that ever gets and I'm sorry I'm bringing all your old elsewhere this this it created here okay and it's later canonized in one of the movies and is talked about in one of the later series. The name of the town that spock lives in Chicago Sara or something like that at at that becomes canonized later of where they grew up The the the the the name healer is canonized in the Vulcan healer dealer. So and so in another future episode a reference. Back to this The you mentioned you have seen the two thousand nine J.J. Abrams Star Trek Film. I don't know how much you actually remember that episode. But there's a there's a scene where Spock is being bullied. Young SPOCK DOC. As a student is being bullied by other kids which is a direct. Pull from his this episode directly from this episode right yeah And then obviously so. Obviously this episode goes back and draws from as a touchstone point which DC Fontana very much intended for it draws touchdown things like the idea. The ad that spock struggles with his humanity with his half half human humanity right. Yeah boss Kinda shows that started early exactly and that spock did did commit himself to the Vulcan of life even though he still had issues you know and I was very glad about that. And and there's there's lots of different things The family shrine that gets talked about the fact. There's an there's an episode title called the forge for one of the future episodes roads. That goes back to the Vulcan forge. That is referenced in this episode for the very first time. So there's lots of things about this particular episode That they it really are canonized later. Even if you don't consider the show itself to be Canon though a lot of really do and honestly I kinda wonder how many people have easier time allowing this canon because DC Fontana wrote. It Wilshire and just knowing that she had such a big part in all of the live action series to like. I mean I believe like you said last time we talked about her. I think that she knows how to write. Star Trek better than gene roddenberry. I think that's true and I don't have a problem saying that and so I mean with that in mind like why. Why wouldn't you accept this? Canon Scher I. Now I don't know if I don't know if she wrote other episodes of the animated unmade series do offhand. So interesting story about that. No this is the only episode of the animated series. She wrote okay now. There's a reason for that though. All right she she was one of the main producers story editors on the series all right but just as they were getting going when they had they had actually pulled in a lot of their riders riders from the original series who had worked on the original series. They had a handful of New People. Well right about the time. They go into production on all these start writing scripts guess what happens. The writers writers guild goes on strike right but there was a there was like a loophole. There is a caveat. Riders could write one. They were allowed to write one episode of animation Russian. They couldn't do any live action film but they could write one episode of animation without having to join their guild Okay and I think that's still true. act like you can be in like a commercial but soon as you're in too you have to join the screen actors guild or something like that. There's some weird rule like that but it kind of works. I guess for the writers skill to like so they could do one animated version without having to join that guilt so they could. They could actually work a little bit. They could write without violating union rules. That were on strike. So what happened. was everyone basically wrote an episode one. That's it so now as I was listening to that story I've got the feeling like at some point. The strike was over and people may have snuck in a second one towards the end. I'm not really sure I didn't go back and check the writers for every single episode to see if anybody had a double sewed but I do know that this was Dorothy is only a script credit for the Animated Series Fair. Enough as I said my notes are all over the place with that So Yeah Yeah. Let's see what else about that the mantra okay. Let's talk about what we're talking about the writers Because is there now having to write an animated cartoon. They're also having to do it in twenty two minutes which was a lot different? DC Fontana talked about how the Remember the Dorian first officer in the alternate timeline theme and I think it was his name. She had had thoughts of like well. What happened to him and and what's going on with him and she's like if I had more time I would have loved to explore that? Yeah but she just didn't so that they were feeling the crunch they said. It was still star Trek though and their mantra was they weren't writing a cartoon. They were writing star Trek and as such they packed a lot of story and each each and every episode. They still had moral tales But they they were able to do things they never could. So as a writer it was really nice to have that One of the other things just on a production note because the original series was a Saturday morning cartoon it was directed at kids. There was a thought to do all of the characters as kid episodes like to give each one of them. A kid episode sewed roddenberry nixed that idea though. That's when he pulled in his his executive consultant thing and said no but this one was the only one that made it. He kind of gave the green light to go ahead and do so That's thanks to Mr Gene Roddenberry What else what else? What else to tell you before we get into everything I can save that one. I can save that one Let's Oh this was. The animated series stories was the very first star Trek episode. And it wasn't this episode. It was one of the other ones that won an emmy. The original series never won an emmy right so this is is the first one so even though the series is a little pan it's a little surreal. Is it not. Is it really track. Is it whatever you know. It certainly has its its. It's place in Star Trek history. I mentioned all the original actors returned When they did bring back all of the original actors and got them together in one room Typically they would actually just record all their voices separate okay but they did bring them back and they all did the voices together for the first three episodes. This was one of them after after that they kind of went on like William Shatner was doing like he was on tour doing theater. He was on tour so he recorded designs with a tape recorder in his hotel room. Right but like people like Nichelle Nichols James Doohan may Joel Barrett Roddenberry as she would be now known they were kind of around so those three particularly did a lot of the extra voices for example in this episode. The Guardian the voice of the guardian of forever was James Doohan Merge. James Doohan Played Scotty in case in case you don't remember that also James Doohan originally was supposed to be the voice of Sarik in this episode. He had recorded boarded the lines. One of the first thing you do animation as you have to record the lines I because they match the animation to the voices share. Well the reason he who was doing that was because mark. Leonard wasn't available well as they started rapping production on this episode. Leonard suddenly became available. I guess he had a few minutes and they were able to bring him in and he looped Dover all of James Doohan's lines and his voice and rightly so it was his character right. There were never able to get Jane Wyatt. Who Played Amanda so the Voice Lisa of Amanda in this particular episode is Major Barrett Roddenberry? That's the voice of Amanda. So there's a couple of things there which which I think that's really going to be Matt and if anything comes up over the course of our conversation I'll go back to it again. I apologize for how scattered this opening this just been pulling all these different stories from different places and didn't really know how to perform it together. So why don't I stop talking for a while. Okay I'll turn it over to you. Take us through the episode. What'd you think? What'd you you know what stood out to you? What questions do you have that I may dodge or not? I don't know well we I mean I will say the first thing I noticed was the opening credits. Only had the three names three names of the trio and so my first thought was is that all they could get but like I mean I think part of it was all they really needed for this episode. I mean there was. There was Scotty in there and then like accent. He did some other voices and stuff but that was very. I thought that was this project too far removed from the original. Yeah that that they couldn't bring back with didn't want to at that point. Yeah no Wi with that. If you'll remember in the in the original series stories that's how the opening credits went. It was just the three main characters everybody else was in the post characters and the way they did. TV At the time they didn't do opening credits. So you had to be a major major person in the show. Basically the Stroz star taking your name in the opening credits. So that's that's but because the the opening the original series did yeah. I mean I noticed. They tried to mimic the original series as best they could. They did try you try. I still like the original original better. No problem no problem yes you should by the way yes. Anyway I as for this story in particular it it I I hate bringing up series again. Sure outside of track but this is in my mind is what would happen if Harry Potter and went wrong. Okay right 'cause this it just feels like there's time travel involved and they messed it up. which is something thing I mean? Obviously we see that and other other places sure but the series I'm most familiar with Harry Potter is like he always gets it right right. He always does it. And and it's it's that same thing it's where he goes back and saves himself and so that I think that's why making that connection there except obviously here in Star Trek. The spock messed it up without knowing that he messed it up which is once again is really weird weird to think about but yeah it's so much of say the point of the story was to go back and explore Spock as a kid It really by the way the moral of the lesson this really was. This was less about exploring spock and more about. Hey let's talk about euthanasia for kids. It's like the ultimate where the episode gets to write. They wanted D C Fontana especially wanted to do that story for kids NBC didn't like at the time they really wanted her to change the ending. Gene actually stepped in and said no no trustworthy and so they did and they didn't get one letter of complaint so she's like..

You see this is where I'm so confused like, I don't I can't I don't know how to put them in order. We have a guy downstairs Ike. Yes. Or digital guy. He'll put an order. He has a chart. Oh, really? Yeah. He gave Barrett Barrett. He's a guy in our promotions department was like anti more he's like anti he's borderline hipster for a while. But not so much anymore. Okay. He didn't like movies had anything any action in them. Hated it. Tell me the moves he loved I'm like why he just like drought likes the story the drama or some of the like, he he's the type of guy that would know all the Oscar movies and seen all of them. Oh god. Black and white film like, oh, so artistic he's into the marvel movies now, but he didn't know where to start he made a he made a full chart color-coded. You haven't made this is the chart. Coded based on what movies, you definitely needed to see which movies? You should probably see in which ones you could skip over before adventures 0 wars came out. Do you think he would let us post that would want to have that? I will get him to update it because this was right after Black Panther since Black Panther. You've had ant man and the wasp. Marvel marvel and then 0 wars, and is this judge marble ones are all the different. This is just this isn't DC. So this isn't like the Batman superman and wonder woman, I've never felt more nerdy. But I'm also into that. Right. It's it's funny. How nerdy 'cause like comic books for a long time. Maybe so are very nerdy very niche and like collector's items you held onto him. And like, I personally don't know anyone who collects my books. And then I I can't be your friend. But now these movies these are the biggest movies every year. A billion dollars is insane. This is a fun fact for you about Bree Larson is captain marvel she did her own stunts. Like there was a video of her pushing her trainers Jeep with her own body up a hill. Jolie co not using any she could have been run over. But she was just up the hill with her back. She worked out that hard for her. Doohan ahead a pulley on the front it. Would push a Jeep up a hill. Other was a special effect that made her look like that was when she was working out that was just like a bus behind the scenes, one of her friends movie. She said she wanted to be as authentic as possible, and she started the movie with no upper body strength. And she was like I can't pull this off. So she started to work out. I saw her doing those hip thrusts things your sexual. With the most way I've seen anybody. Do my strong that Katie it is embarrassing. When you go by somebody at the gym doing that. I'm like. Do you do it like in your yoga class or sometimes you do it when you're stretching and it always feels very weird? But I go the opposite direction because I'm like I'm gonna look like a per. You can't help. But look or that lake spread machine. Anymore? Yes. You can't look at people in the face when you're doing look down. Just look. The crotch. No. Then you have to her doing the exercise contact anybody. Look, dude, I understand your guy you want to get the area stronger. Don't do that in public. Afternoon guy. Do you see kind of you know? Serious. And plus it looks weird. A dude. I brought to the other side. There are other ways you could do that. Whether it's a smoking hot girl on it safe. Oh, boy, the peak from the corner..

I think you know, the proposal is put forward, I think is probably overly simplistic, you know, which, you know, for a politician is probably the right way to go. Because you know, I think most voters are not going to dive into nuance of the stuff. You know? I think that there there are some aspects of what she's proposing. And I think there's definitely some room for separating some of these businesses. I think there's definitely some things that should that probably should be done. I think you know, kind of the sweeping approach that she put forward in. That proposal is kind of going overboard and doesn't address a lot of those nuances. That's actually my biggest problem with it. Is it distracts? From what really needs to be done, which is some some serious rag private privacy regulation. Absolutely. Like, for example, if you if you separated Google search from Google's advertising business what the hell is Google search? And how how's it gonna survive as a standalone business, and it's always bothered me that Google has acquired content companies. I think you know, I've always felt like I'm sure in the early days Vic, I remember Larry Page's first presentation Google where he said we can't ever take advertising because it would necessarily pollute our results. I think in the early days there was always the feeling that that search should somehow be a priesthood should be above the hurly-burly of commerce. So that it can provide a reliable source of information sorry to support it. Well, at a canonical, I I'm speaking I'm taking off any official how to Google. No government official had either this is really my personal thing. But it's interesting because the the stuff that was in the post by Elizabeth warns team mentioned ways and doubleclick, and and that's interesting, but the specific link that they point to two was an article in the New York Times by Charles Doohan about found him, which is ridiculous. Absurd and like I dealt with west. Yeah. Shopping site that went after Google claim to be petted who put us out of business, right? In fact, they put them so I so I I speaking as a web spam person with that background. I have a pretty good idea of what happened there, and I feel that's about tissues. To lure of stage the base of policy proposal on that specific inst-? Yeah. In fact, I think a lot of people who bed Thompson Istra tech reported out the mistake that there was numerous historic mistakes, which actually worry me a lot more in the medium posters. Ben's post where Warren's wrong, and he specifically points to that found immortal as being not a good precedent. Yeah. For a wider break up Google, and what to do with said. There was an argument to be made something the tech industry has done for many many years. And in fact, every industry does his competition and we've seen this with Facebook and what's up on Instagram? You bought the competition? You look down Cisco famous for this in the nineties with other networking company's. I do feel if you're gonna get free appropriate free market competition. You go to stop loud companies from dominating the market, you go to have a competitive environment..
