"Just don't think the Red Sox would do that. Crazy is an extreme example, but you get, I want to bring up Carlos Correa's deal. So, excuse me. He is a free agent in 2025. However, there are opt outs in 2023 and 2024. That is, I believe, the way the contract was designed so that if he wanted to, he could get out and retest the market. So, but he has signed technically through 2025 Carlos Correa is, but they are essentially three one year deals. Go ahead. Yeah, so again, that's my point. Here's the list of the top second basement max Muncie Colton Wong. Gene Segura, these are Hernandez like Donovan solano is also on this list. If they're going to go out and pay for quality there, then it's fine. I don't know, at least cast year, you called them, would you say a premium asset? Yes, he would absolutely be a premium asset. Maybe I'm not as high on him, maybe it's because I haven't watched him as much. I guess he's their ace by default, but I think of him as more of like a two three guy. It depends on what staff you put him on. If you put them on the Dodgers, yeah, he's probably a two or a three. But his stuff is ace material at any level. And I think any Red Sox fan that watched him pictured Fenway back on May 31st would agree to that. All right, you know, that was kind of limited limited exposure for me too. I know you're obviously more familiar. So I'll defer to you on that one.

"He had an exceptional game on Monday after the Giants used their bullpen, going seven innings only given five hits, three runs against Colorado. And picking up the wind throwing 98 pitches 75 for strikes. And when you look at Kevin Gausman when he pitches ahead, the hitters are only 44 for 2 75. That's how 1 60 batting average on the road. Kevin Gausman 72 with a 1.95 earned run average. Look for Kevin Gausman to go deep in this game and get that 14th win. Time now for today's injury report, sponsored by Brown and Toland, Physicians discover care where you are with brown and tone physicians. Well, we heard on the pregame show that Wilmer Flores is flying to Chicago possibly be in the lineup tomorrow against the left hander Justin Steele. That's good news. Austin Slater is still on the concussion protocol. Alex Dickerson is working out the hamstring Johnny Cueto's got a little arm issue. And we're looking for Donovan Solano to join the team and probably be on the roster when they come back on Monday to play the Padres. More diamond notes after the sun can be are these sports leader? I've put a lot of thought into my girlfriend's engagement ring. Did all the research shopped around and got lots of opinions. At first I was planning on getting her lab created Diamond. But after my visit to Shane Company, I changed my mind. I learned that lab created diamonds have continually dropped in value, whereas natural diamonds have consistently maintained or increased in value over time, and all the diamonds at Shane Company are natural. What's really cool about a natural diamond is that there is no other diamond in the world like it. It's a natural wonder created by the Earth billions of years ago, the oldest and rarest thing you'll ever touch. How romantic is that? And Shane companies. Diamonds are conflict free. They've always sourced their diamonds this way. So for my girlfriend's engagement ring, I chose a one carat.

"Find a way to make it work as long as those things hold up. While the Giants were playing yesterday, of course bags we in the in house feed and NBC Sports Bay Area we can see video of, uh Wilmer Flores and Donovan Solano, both running sprints and Solano is just coming back from Covid. I think he's gonna go on a rehab. But the floor is one was really encouraging to me because I had read and kind of thought that you know this is a hamstring injury that, he said for months. This goes back to earlier in the year, they really never quite healed. But he looked like he was busting it. And what a cab Tell you guys yesterday. He may be available at the end of this this road trip. Yeah, they're thinking Sunday. They're targeting Sunday to activate him and, you know, obviously they're going to have some some questions because Cairo Street has been playing great. And and he's kind of been the Solano on this team. And, uh, you know, Stephen Duggar made a huge difference, in course, and he's kind of been the Alex Dickerson on this team. And Kapler was pretty adamant. We want these guys back who are on the injured list. We're not necessarily going to just, you know, go with the hot hand we want. These guys have done a lot of for us, and we want them back on the roster, so it's going to be tricky Math and then whenever they get around to a post season roster, that's going to be tricky to, um, but but you're right. Flores has been a guy who's been just a great weapon against lefties and pretty good against right handed pitching when they've had to use them, too. So I'm sure they'll welcoming backed on Sunday, assuming he doesn't have a setback. Thanks. Thanks. As always, We appreciate it. Enjoy Chicago and we'll talk to you next week. Okay, we'll do have a good one. You behave nice, So he's uh there's a There's a trail where you can work off the food. Sure. Bring an old style. Okay. Deep dish on the trail with Ali Ali crumbs in case I pocket case. I have cardiac arrest. You know where to find me. Yeah, That's what we would do, we would get we had my dad had a routine. He would get that the Chicago style dog and they if you go to the legit places with the Vienna's They have they They get the wax paper and they wrapped the fries in it with it, And then they just salt the hell out of the fried put fries on tax. It's not to eat with it, but they just wrap it in the paper. Yeah, you wanna do the pain is not like the price of Pittsburgh, where they throw the fries on two brothers. No, it's not that, but still, it's like, so the first thing you do is you get to Chicago and you just bite into this dog with like the sport peppers and green relish and all this stuff. And then you got these salty fries and like, then you're there, and I wouldn't even unwrap it. I think I need it right through their happy There was a smell so good. It was a place walking distance right around the corner for my grandparents house. That was the first thing my dad would drop everything. He was a big beer guy, and he would we would we get it. He'd get an old style. Just not because it's good beard, because that's what you did. Chicago, Chicago and we get an old style and he would get a dog and we'd sit out there and like some rickety table, you know, with a basket, and it would that that was our like within 20 minutes. That's what we're doing. That you've got. George George is all that he doesn't need you on Halloween. You make 1 49 trip this year Soldier Field following. Oh, October 29th Friday. How good is that contest is taking us out. And he said, And he's saying the groceries and touristy. Yeah. You want to take us there? The Viagra track. He'll know where to go. That's great. These guys, these guys, I mean, Jean and George. Eddie's is the bigger I wasn't that impressed with that, But there, he knows he's from there. He's got to check this out in his muscle car that he's always Oh, yeah, crowing about So he's got to do. Yeah. You got to make that trip. Jan. October. 29th got to make that true. Yeah, that's done. Just decided. That's done. All right. Uh, 10 minutes from now we'll give you the foreplay. Included in that we've got some Kyle Shanahan yesterday was a spirited in the the first. "Injury. How bad is it? I read that it's a bad one, and he may not come back the remainder of the regular season. What That impact is. Availability can play offs. And what are you hearing about? Donovan Solano? Is he going to be able to get back out there and play maybe when they go to regularly over the weekend? Well, you know, the giants of the two hamstring strains right now with floors and Dickerson. My impression is that floors is more significant. The Dickerson's, but he is working out, according to Gabe Kapler, he said Solano, Dickerson and Flores are all working out in San Francisco, so I'm not sure I'd be ready to guess that he's out the rest of the way. I would certainly think even if he's limited, maybe you know in in the last week or two that in a playoff situation, he would probably be ready. Hamstrings are tough. You guys know they, you know they're pretty susceptible to three injury. You have to be really careful. And Dickerson certainly sounds like maybe he's a little bit of a head. Solano is just needs to work out a little bit. He's feeling good. He popped into the dugout actually on Sunday, and everybody was apparently like really delighted to see him. It had been a while. Um, so Kapler's sort of sort of cautiously optimistic he might be joining them in Chicago, but, yeah, you're right. This does add a what happens. You know in your You know, you got lost. L A. He's he's available. Now. You've got Solano coming back and Tiro. Estrada has been kind of outperforming everybody. So, Yeah. Good problem to have. I mean, that's what they always say. But some point even with the two extra guys in September, you wind up with a little bit of a roster clinch, and this is a team that can definitely use the extra reliever at this point. Given the you know the fact that they're in a situation with right now they don't have to members of their rotation. Cueto Potentially about the rest of the way. We really don't know what's going on with Alex would except for every time we ask, we're told he's very sick. So who knows? Who knows how long he'll be out? You know, even the two extra guys, I don't I really, really wish that they had found some sort of compromise between essentially unlimited September. Call up stand to He has to, especially in the season following a pandemic when there are so many injuries, and so many guys, you know on covid lists, they really needed more. Okay, so let's go back to this whole opener thing. So the school funding pitch well on Friday night, Gaza's bitch. Well, yesterday Logan Web has been one of the best pitchers in all baseball. That's it. Those? Are you three going on right now. So so what do they do? As far as do they just continue to do openers or relief pitcher games? How do they handle this? Moving forward? Well, Scott Kazmir was mentioned yesterday. I've talked to Scott a couple of times since he's been back from the Olympics. His last time out was really good. He's starting for Sacramento tonight, Catholics said. He's starting to be a pretty viable option. He throws a lot of strikes. Which again here. That's important when you're talking about a bullpen game, and he said Scott might even wind up as a book an option for them. So maybe they're thinking, you know, either, like, start and go a few innings or be part of a bullpen game. I don't know, but that is a big plus because he is a major strike or doesn't throw hard anymore, But he has a smart guy knows what he's doing. You know, his season altogether has been Extraordinary coming back from a very long kind of semi retirement. Getting a silver medal in the Olympics. You know, making some starts with the Giants, and here, it could be pitching. You know, in the stretch run for the Giants, and potentially even the playoffs scenario, depending on what's going on with the rotation and the Giants needs, so I love that idea. You know, he's one of my exam. We're not supposed to root, but he is one of my favorite guys, and it's such a good story. It's really hard not to to kind of hope that maybe he does have something here to say. But I do suspect that he's At the very least, an option there entertaining. So keep an eye on what he does with Sacramento tonight, because if it's good, we might see him here is next time out. Yeah, maybe go Sunday and Wrigley when they wind up the weekend there, Um, speaking of Wrigley, as Kris Bryant could be healthy. What's going on I saw was a wrist injury and early in the game, Brendan Rodgers hit that ball between Uh, you know, in the gap in right center, he dove and landed and when he got up, he got up slowly. Was it on that play and what's going on with Chris Bryant right now at the wrist? Cutler says. It's minor said it's something that's actually been. He's had some discomfort here for a few games. I think it's something you know, but related to his swing. Uh, so I wouldn't be surprised if maybe he gets a start off for a little extra rest. Like you know, Yesterday, it was more get a little bit of pattern getting out of the game. But, yeah, you know, he Makes the throw. That certainly was not, um you know the norm for him the error? Uh, I think he's okay. I'm not sure that there's like massive alarm bells. But like everybody he's banged up in the you know, a wrist injury for a hitter of his caliber is not ideal. So we're I the Giants. Certainly I would err on the side of caution, and they usually do. Susan. Great stuff. As always. We appreciate it. We'll talk to you next week. Awesome. Thanks. Thank you. "Twist, bouncer hit the first couple hops right to wait. Who's going to Sprint to the bag for the put out that retires the side and Giants fans ago? Stand up for Cueto's really pitch Well today. After kind of a shaky start. That could be it for him. Seven strong for Johnny Cueto here on Memorial Day Monday and, Yeah, Johnny, Walking off the field slowly wave to this nice Giants crowd. Cool moment for kwaito. Indeed, itwas Johnny Cueto's seven strong innings. One run five hits, allowed five strikeouts, No walks. He did hit the one batter two different times, and that was it. So Johnny Cueto with his fourth win of the year. He is the player we give credit to for their stellar performance. It's Johnny Cueto sponsored by Geico, a proud partner of Major League Baseball. Giants would get their final two runs in the seventh, and this had some significance in terms of allowing Gabe Kapler to bypass using his top late inning arms and keeping them fresh for Perhaps coming into hold on to a game late tomorrow. We'll see how that plays out. But Tyler Rogers was warming up during the seventh inning, getting ready to come on in the eighth inning. But in the Seven. Donovan Solano lead off the inning with a walk against the former giant hunter Strickland and then Duggar hit that. Shot out toward the deep part of the yard Right center field. It bounced up just to the right of the 4 15 marker and up off the bricks and then cleared the wall. Over the 4 15 marker for the automatic double. I think easily would have scored Solano from first base. Had it stayed on the field, and in addition, I think easily would have been a triple for the speedy Duggar. So he kind of got robbed of his R B. I. And who knows If that bonus stayed in the field and taking a funny bounce, you might have even been able to sprint all the way around the basis for an inside the park home run. We'll never know as it was a double putting runners at 2nd and 3rd, then talk when the pinch hitters struck out. And with Wade coming up fresh off his home run. The Pitching changes made strictly was taken out of the game and key Hatta left hander just brought up for the minor leagues today by the Angels came in. So the Giants countered that move with Wilmer Flores and while Wilmer was up The Giants. We get two more runs. One of them scored on this play. Leo to pitch is off.

"Marty Laurie. Pitching in trying to horn Here's your Giants pregame host Marty Laurie on these sports leader. What? We're talking Baseball and Memorial Day weekend. What a week It has been the Giants to the Houdini Act, getting outta Arizona on Wednesday night, winning 5 to 4. Losing to the Dodgers on Thursday and then last night, one of the epic epic giant Dodger Games and Let me tell you fans, this rivalry goes back. 100 years. You look in the sixties, you could look in the thirties, the forties. You can look in this century as well. And there are always giant Dodger games is John the Count Mont. A few SCO and all the things that have happened between Giants Dodgers. And last night the game came through for everybody. It was amazing if you're just waking up, or if you just getting into baseball for the weekend, the Giants end up winning 8 to 5 in 10 innings last night, and believe me It looked like an easy giant win that turned into Ah heartbreaker and then turned into ecstasy for the ball club as they scored three runs in the 10th inning off the Dodgers to win it 8 to 5, But before we get to that, Couple of shadows this morning to my dear friend, Elliott Schwartz. Dr. Elliott Schwartz to for many, many years was the A's team physician, Warriors and Raiders and just a wonderful man and has always been there for everybody. Elliot is fighting a tough battle right now, and our love goes out to him and Patty and Nathan and we think about him a lot. Ah, big shadow this week to Golden Gate urology. And Dr Andy Pinkney. And, of course, my son in law, Dr Greg Bar May they took care of me all week long, and I appreciate everything. There is no one better in Berkeley than Area. It's golden Gate urology. So, Andy, pick me. Thank you so much. I know your Yankee fan and also Greg Bar May and Joanna in the office, Guys. Thanks for taking care of me this week. All right, let's look at the game from last night a little bit. There were so many big plays and Larry Krueger bill and I'll talk about it in the next segment, but just to go through it a little bit because who's on my mind, and I had a tough time falling asleep last night after the game. Really was that exciting a lot of big plays, and Stephen Duggar hit a home run last night. But the play of Lamont way Junior last night I thought was outstanding. A couple of walks for him A couple of outstanding maybe three outstanding defense of plays last night for Lamont Way Junior at first base. And he really came through a beautiful throw to the plate to cut down a runner throw was right on the plate. Well, when I'll talk about that tomorrow about that play for him. But in the 10th inning with Kenley Jansen on the mound, then there was an out and the Giants needed to get that first run in and Lamont Wait, just took a no to pitch and just ripped it into right field that put the Giants ahead. 6 to 5. After that Evan Longoria off the bench, a double 10 R B. I's for him. In his last eight games, two more runs scored and the Giants went up 8 to 5, and that eventually was The winning margin, But you got to go back to the eighth inning and Buster Posey a three run homer to put the Giants up 5 to 2. Proposes Homer number 10 on the season for him and number 1 50 of his career. So all right, we go to the ninth inning and Tyler Rogers comes in, and you're feeling pretty good. And before you know it, there's two out two on On Austin Barnes comes up and he knocks one out. Knocks one out to tie it up 552 out in the bottom of the ninth and it's 55 and then Albert pull host comes up and let's face it. He's going to be a first time Hall of Famer. And interesting story to watch him with the Dodgers. And Rodgers. Those the pitch pull host gets under it and let me tell you, Charley Steiner. Everybody else who broadcast this game thought it was gone. As it majestically floated out to left field and you're saying is it gone? Is it gone? And my talk man goes back to the wall jumps times asleep perfectly. The glove goes over the wall, and he brings it back and pull host is out. Everybody thought it was a home run Pull host thought it was a home run. And the inning ended and save the Giants, or else it would have been a 65 walk off for the Dodgers. Incredible, Really. It was an incredible finish to that inning and your breath was taken away. But what it was was Giants Dodgers, and that's what it comes down to San Diego one last night, and the Dodgers, of course, end up losing the Giants win so both the Giants and Dodgers air tied again. We're heading into the one third market the season it'll be Monday when the Giants play the Angels and already they've got 31 wins at one third. So Raff is a math genius. You know that. Three times. 31 is 93. This was a team that was supposed to win seventies to 74 games. So amazing third of the season for the San Francisco Giants. Other things that happened in the game last night, and I want to point out a few of them. As I said, we'll go through him in the first hour of the show tonight. Yeah. Donovan Solano, a big sacrifice fly for him, Mike you Stransky. A couple of walks last night, scored some runs. Uh, Anthony, the squid, Funny boy. He was all over the place last night. If the glove was in the outside corner, he threw the ball on the inside. But he got the big out when he had to get it, and he also laid down a sacrifice bunt, and he kept the Giants in the game. Dodgers. Two for 14 with runners in scoring position, so he did keep him in the game. But low tell McGee and Barrenger outstanding out of the bullpen one more time. Ferris Bueller. I mean, Walker Bueller. He had a day off yesterday. He wasn't great. But even is Miserable is he? It was all over the place. He couldn't get his curveball over. Still a fabulous game for him and the Giants and the beating Bueller, which is a big deal because today it's areas and Logan Web and that will be another good challenge for the Giants. Brandon Crawford last night hit the ball hard. He was robbed and left field. I'll tell you if you want to watch a game. Go back and watch this one. This one had a lot of great plays in a little bit of everything, but to sue, Go, goes back and left field and robs Crawford with a couple on base. Crawford hitting the ball really, really well. For Max Muncy. He's always trouble Larry Crew. We'll talk about that. Mookie Betts is struggling a little bit right now and probably won't play today, but Bellenger comes back today. For the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Giants are 12 and 22 against the Dodgers in their last 34 games, the Giants of 18 of 12, and they've won eight of nine road games. And the Giants now have 52 homers on the road and incredible total on the road..

"What happens when they are unable to knock those mistakes out of the park by opposing pitchers? They didn't get many opportunities to do that this weekend and Only two home runs were hit, and they were basically, if not totally inconsequential. Do they have somewhere else to go when the home run ball? Is that there or is this just who they are, along with a lot of the teams in this league? Well, you know, I think that a couple of the personnel that they have are missing and they just want that Donovan Solano. He's a guy who's very contact oriented. They don't have time in the Stella. He's a guy. They love his own base ability and his contact skills. So you know, Yeah, when? When? When you get guys like an Alex defense and hot? You know, he's gonna He's gonna help you win Ball games. Beckett in the long ball. You know when you have it, Darren rough in there because bringing belts out now he's that same thing. I mean, you are going to be a little more home run reliant just based on his personnel. Happens to be so you know, it's it's hard to say, Well, you know when we get to that magical day when everyone's back off the injured list, and you know, every team kind of goes through that exercise all year, But you're never gonna be 100% health. But, yeah, I would agree. I think we see advantage team that has been a little older, a light on the home run ball. But you know what? I even look back at the Dodgers series and I see a positive from the way that they attacked travel balance. I mean, they certainly didn't do damage against him. But it's hard to say you're dominated by a pitcher when he's got to go close to 100 30 pitches and he doesn't want to the seventh inning, so they stay put up a fight still have competitive plate appearances against him, and I think if you're looking for a positive that's probably a good place to start. Exist. Funny. I like I love offense. And yet to my favorite guys in the club this year are just in offensive funks. Beyond belief. One is is Caselli. The Giants decide they want to go kind of catch and throw priority it with their second catcher, but man, cacao and Castle. He's great at it, but he's hitting a buck. Oh, too. What with the 2 64 on base. I mean, I know they surprised by that are or is that gonna force Joey Bart to the big leagues in the next week or two? How do you evaluate that and then talk man. I watched talk mint, and I'm like this guy's a good player. And he's a good fielder, and he's a smart player, and I think he's hitting 2 11 and and it just and every time I see him, he seems like he's got decent at bats. It's the best looking to 11 I can ever remember. Give me your thoughts on on those two guys, because Like both of them, and I think they're both contributed a lot. But man, those off those those those averages are putrid. Yeah, and before he got hurt, warmer Flora's to is the guy who hadn't done a whole I was just starting to maybe turn a little bit of a corner. Um, you know, which which has been been tough, but you know talking about. I think it's a guy you know is going to give you a good professional at that, and he's gonna be a guy who will. We'll see a lot of pitches. Um, but, yeah, you really can't. You know, scheme your way on base in this league. You're gonna have to get the fastball. You're gonna have to hit pitches in his own eventually to be successful, You know, I mean, you know, we know that on base percentage is more important than batting average and just not making it out in general. But You know, they think it's in there. They think he's going to be fine. Hey, I didn't get a chance to play a lot with the Yankees, so I'm sure he's still probably feeling like he's in spring training mode a little bit, Um, but I'm sure he's gonna get a lot more opportunities. And and and then with Cas Ali. I mean, you gotta feel bad for the guy there in Cincinnati the other day they want to 19 runs. It's a long game. He's got to catch the whole things They want to keep buster fresh for the Dodgers the next day. And what does he do? He gets smoked real boys on the funny bone by a pitch, and he strikes out against a position player to knock his average down to one or two. I mean, it's like, forgot just like he needs a three up three for four day with double in a coma or something in the worst way right now. At some point, we'll have to dig into how money to Elevens. Larry actually remembers, Uh, e think that would be an interesting statement. Uh, now I'm surprised you remember that in 9 to 11 doesn't even stand out anymore. How many to 11 during the league Right now, Probably 50 or so to 11th or less. I mean batting average. I know. Batting averages anything anymore bags, but people do realize. The batting average, the higher your batting average, the higher your on base percentage like that A batting average can actually help your on base percentage. People do realize that, don't you? Yeah, I think so. I hope so. It's kind of it's kind of part of the math equation. Right? Um, but you know, you would get guys I think of Miguel Tejada. Use a good example A guy who could hit 3 30, but he'd have a 3 40 on baseball. Yeah, you know, it s so it's like, Well, you know, is the batting average really that important when when it's really if he goes in a slump And he's never getting on base. Basically. So, you know, you have those players who kind of have a little bit of a downside to that, but no, I I get that. Yeah, I totally get it. I agree, And that's why it's just so amazing What Buster is doing this here getting like 37. I mean, he's doing it in the context of nobody being able to hit for average anymore, so Um, And I think part of that is just the fact that he can cover the plate again. He's healthy enough to be able to end He's talented enough to have an adjustable swing recon cover. Ah lot more of the strike zone. He doesn't have a groove swing, like so many hitters do these days. To where they could be pitched you and yeah, I mean, if you want to go watch a good hitter. I mean, just go watch one of Buster's it. That's and maybe we'll get back to the point where we have, you know, Buster Posey's all around the league, but right now there aren't many of them. The pitching. Let me ask you were about a third of the way close with third of the way through the season now, so I think at that point you can kind of you could tell who people are curious in your thoughts on the starting pitching outside of Logan Web the got Would you got disco funny yet? Cueto and God's been Is there are these guys do you think this is who they are, like? Can they pitched this wall throughout the season? God's Mum's the one guy look and go. You know what? I'd be surprised if he falls off it all. I think this is who he is. He's established that over more than just this year now. And I think he's going to be. He's like a front of the rotation guy. The other three, do we Me, Quito. Yours were about injury. But do we know about him? I mean, would looks really good and disco find looks really good. He had the one bump, but I mean, he's been really good since Do you expect that it? Is there any there? Any stats out there they look at and go regressions coming or how do you view it? I think there is gonna be some aggression coming just because they've just pitched the lights out. I mean, you know, so good s o. I think even the transfer office will be like, okay. We know it's not gonna be, you know. We're not gonna be swimming in this much gravy all year. Yeah, Yeah, I agree with you Look at Kevin Gausman and he's got he's got that look of a guy who's gonna be inside out of balance and You know you guys healthy, but, you know, it's interesting to see that again. The doctor's approach. I'm just cool, funny guy who's out there pumping strikes and they knew it and it's a good vantage of it. Well, you know, our other team's gonna do that. Is he gonna Aspect. But you know what? That his stuff? The stuff looks good. Johnny Cueto sitting 94. He's the guy who's out there improvising. It'll be interesting to see what they do with the Scott casting your spot in.

"You have the opportunity to To get some of these guys in security. So Giants Club has lost four games. It has lead after six innings this year and his own six in games that have been tied after seven. They don't with Maurin. They've dealt with more bullpen issues in the last week, of course, Harlan Garcia give up a run in the seventh before Matt Whistler gave up those back to back home runs us. Well, I forgot Harlan. The former Marlin came in, and it was the back to back home runs from May Quinn and a Dokdo Suarez in the eighth inning, so Yeah, Bullpen an issue And this is something they ran into a little bit last year, Right? Trevor got last year, those couple of blown games to the A's. And then the one down in in Anaheim. The home run that he gave up to Tommy lost Ella. But giants are getting healthier. They're hoping they can get healthier. Getting guys back a capital yesterday said that Donovan Solano gonna continue with his rehab stint Gonna be a little bit more time for Tommy lost Ella, but nice to see woman. Floris hit a home run yesterday, too. That was big for him. He was 1 80 as of Saturday and and really is clawed back. Handsome better at bats this week or in the last 3 to 4 days, So I pretty good home run for him. Mikey stretched. He hits a home run off his college roommate in Sonny Gray. Don't forget might just Rimsky and Sonny Gray. We're playing a bunch of those like sand lot baseball games over the offseason, or I guess during the pandemic last year, guys were getting together and just sort of getting some work in. It Might just Trump's keep is one of those guys get all those Vanderbilt dudes together out in out in Tennessee, and they're playing baseball during the pandemic and So that he said that they had talked about that He and Sonny Gray about him hitting a home run at some point, son, he said, If you do it, it better be a solo shot. So we'll give you some reaction from us after the game after hitting the home run off of Sonny Great yesterday, too, so a bunch of big flies for the Giants point I'm looking up right now, and it will be network and just watched. Just watch show Hell, tiny Tomahawk, a ball that's like it's at his eyes. Like, you know, Tommy's insane man 13th home run of the season last year, he leads all the baseball by the way, he's going to be a rate of 2.1. Also, the poor angels man just wasted away down there in Anaheim. My truck got hurt. Yesterday pulled his calf running on a pop up between 2nd and 3rd. He strained his calf and exited the game. So I was beyond fragile. He was brutal man. He slammed his helmet on the ground after tubes all frustrated. We gotta get that. Get back to the playoffs, man. They're just wasting him. They're just wasting the greatest player of this generation. He's played in three playoff games. He's one for 12 in his in his career at the plate in the postseason, he's got more MVP's than he does hits in the playoffs. He's played as many playoff games. He has MVPs crazy. Just absurd. Just absurd. Anyway. Sorry, Tom, I I was just watching Otani hit up. There was an insane home remedy it last night, the edge of velocity of waiting Tomahawks at the the lift. He's able to get on the ball. That's that high over his head Insane anyway, we can get back into some of the stuff with the Giants want to talk more about this rotation to I was reading an article yesterday about this four guys in the Giants rotation, formerly Cincinnati Reds. Johnny Cueto. The school. Funny. Kevin Gossman, Alex would all guys who had pitched in Cincinnati so all guys, you know how to get out in Cincinnati and Logan Webb talked about that said, Hey, yeah, I talked to these veteran guys. They told me keep the ball down. Also kind of a cool moment when they got into Cincinnati the other day. Apparently, they all went to this restaurant. Johnny Cueto tweeted it out just the starting pitchers in the picture. The pitching coaches. Went out to look like it was Bailey and banister and disco Gossman Would Cueto and Web all went out to dinner. Look like they were shooting in, like a like a Godfather room like they were sitting in like it was an Italian restaurant called Soto. I guess and Cincinnati and and they're all I guess. Well versed are familiar with the cuisine of the Queen City. So They went out there and all the pictures sat together and had a meal and I just logon Web get to pick your brain about how to get out, and he pitched pretty well yesterday to a tune of a 6 to 3 win. Tony Disco takes the ball today three and one with a 2.14 41 strikeouts on the season for him to be opposed by former Giants far man Luis Castillo, who has been Awful this year, one of the worst pictures starting pitchers in all of baseball this year. They're one in seven and his eight starts. He's got a 7.71 e R. A 29 strikeouts with a one and five records so S so it'll be a toss right? So it'll be like a picture's door. Absolutely check out right. We'll come back to the to the average just a little bit so stuff we can talk about, but on the other side will hear from Gabe Kapler, where from Logan Webb also Mike Jastremski, who hit that home run off of his college roommate yesterday. Then we've got to get into some stuff for the 40 Niners. Guys were showing up to practice their doing this mini camp and What? Reporters are not out there. Jimmy Garoppolo is their depot. Samuels there, Brendan. I yuks there. George Kittles there. Fred Warner's. They're some of the bigger names after the NFL Players Association said, Yeah, we should. We should refrain from showing up to these things this year. We should be careful about this. Some of these guys are, like, get incentive money for showing up to these workouts. I think I'm gonna go gonna go collect my check, so they're working out down in in Santa Clara. We can hit on some of that, as well as well as some of the changes to the Jersey numbers think you're gonna have to get used to later this year and Dave, We never ran through the schedule together so we can talk about that a little bit later as well. Plenty more coming up into Tuesday morning, Giants get the win 6 to 36 and 10, You know 63 over the center line item at six. And 10 Cincinnati Reds yesterday we'll hear from Gabe Kapler on the other side when the lead house black Continues day and we are one of 45 and 6 83 sports leader leases the leadoff spot with Adam Copeland on FM, and this is KNBR 1045 and 6 80, these sports leader,.

"I mean, just like 19 games. He's got seven home runs in 2019. He hit seven home runs all year, He posted his lowest average is lowest on base. He was striking out more than he ever has. You struck out four times in the game in 2019 Never done that before, And that was a big piece. I think writer in August. In fact, I talked him, of course Field. Before a game and said, Look, you know, um, this hip surgery is not necessarily been a fountain of youth for for you has it, He said. No it and there wasn't supposed to be. It was supposed to allow me to not think about it as much and be on the field, stay on the field and compete. He did that in 2019. But who thought that he could put together a month or even a span in 19 games like he has where your O P s leaders for everybody who's got you know 60 or 30 at bats in the big leagues. You've got Mike Trout. You got a buyer in boxing has been a sensation this year. Your pasta Posey. They got Ronald. Couldn't you Junior who was having a great year and poses? Oh, PS in him right now. I mean anyone who saw that coming Um, you know, had a lot of faith and Buster Posey's ability, um and probably wasn't paying attention to. You know a lot of the evidence from from 2016 on and it's been It just reminds you this guy is an elite talent when it comes to hand eye coordination, and when his body allows him to do things, you still pretty darn good hitter. And I mean this. This is pretty darn important. If Buster Posey can have That kind of resurgent season. It's going to affect his ability to be a giant long term. It's going to affect whether he can be a slam dunk Hall of Famer instead of a guy who's gonna have to languish on the ballot a little bit or maybe not get in. Let's not forget a guy like horny. Posada was one and done. He never even got 5%. So you know if Buster, I think needs a few good offensive seasons to be a Hall of Famer, and so there's a lot of steak here for his legacy. I think even though it's obviously going to be, you know, stainless and he'll be revered for life for what he's done is a giant butt. You still got a lot more you can accomplish and I know he's not thinking about it this way. But right now he's showing that Hey, I can still be an elite player in this league and it's been. It's been pretty eye opening to watch really good something with Cooperstown one. I know we're sort of at the time, but we can do this later. It is Yadi Molina ahead of him in the horse race between the two best catchers is No. No question. No question. I think he's ahead of him because he's got When we're compiling numbers, he's got way more gold gloves. I think he's a think Yadi is is for me a slam dunk, first ballot Hall of Famer and Buster's pretty borderline right now, To be honest, Yeah, interesting stuff. Hey, Paperwork question, not paperwork. Actually, it's more than paperwork's. That's wrong Phrase. Just transaction questions less Stella. Going for 4 to 6 Weeks is a big deal. That's tough. So Vossler Jason Vossler, come on down, but What would you anticipate knowing 400 Scott Harris and means Vossler is going to get like a couple of days to show and then they keep looking. Or is it just Hey, Vossler, You're the guy. No, I think they'll write it out. I mean, they have You know the kid he got from the Yankees as well that they they like, and he said he's a triple A. I don't know if they're gonna make a sort of a move to acquire someone. You know, like another Mike. Talk when you can play the infield right now, that may have been Just an opportunistic acquisition right there. I think they just have to write it out. Hopefully get Donovan Solano back sometime soon. Might Jastremski they hope to have back on Friday he'll We'll have to lengthen that line about a little bit, but you know, they've got options. They've got people that can use to cover the infield but makes it even more important than Evan Longoria stays healthy that Brandon Crawford stays healthy and that they don't you know, over exposed some of those guys while trying to fill the gaps, and, Yeah, it's a bummer of an injury because, you know, just like, um, some of these other guys just like you. Yes, we're starting to come around, and then he got hurt. Look, Stella was really starting to come around, and then he got hurt. So the Giants are Our little secret, but you look up and they've got the best record in the National League. And and so you know whether it's the pitching just stand is dialed in if they have been or other guys stepping up when Alex Dickerson catching fire it, hopefully a shoulders not too bad or Brandon Belt catching fire like you did yesterday. Just gonna have to find ways to pick up slack perfectly stated. Andy Day ball. Get your pencil ready. You gotta game coming, so enjoy. It will keep parading in. Thanks for coming on. Okay. Enjoy that. Some day. Baseball guys. Yeah, there it is. 12 10 Polly Logan Web. Yes, I know. We got very little time. But quickly. When you watch Buster Posey, Do you feel like you're watching a Hall of Famer kind of I do to do, especially this year and how he's doing it again. On candy are one of 45 and 6 80 sports. "Plan carried Crowley with you back for another episode of talking sports across the Bay Area across the country, and we're recording this on Thursday afternoon, April 29th. Which of course means tonight is the NFL draft, which also means Carrie. We will avoid the draft completely because by the time people are hearing this, the 40 Niners may have may have Aaron Rodgers. They may have Matt Jones. It may not matter if we talk NFL draft, so we'll try to stick to a little baseball this week, man. How are you doing? Well, copes. I think that's the right idea. I think by Saturday people will be so fatigued on NFL draft and quarterback. Talk that little moved onto which long snapper the Giants or the 40 Niners. I should say we'll have drafted to compete with Tabor Pepper there, so I think that we're in a good spot here talking baseball. There's plenty that the Giants have given us over the last week. Plenty that the sport has given us over the last week. Madison Bumgarner in the news, Ron Laconia Junior in the news, so many different, exciting things taking place around the sport. And so I'm excited to dive India with you this week. Well, I I usually like, lead this discussion and I, you know, trying to get us some good topics to hit on and you mention Madison Bumgarner. We're going to get to That in this segment, because there's there's some rules and regulation things I want to get to pertaining to the quote, seven inning, no hitter, But you said some some things across baseball. Is there a topic you want to jump off on today? I think that the topic that I want to jump off on is that two weeks ago we were sitting here and we were discussing the Los Angeles Times column that suggested the Los Angeles Dodgers Are going to be the best team in baseball history Copes and the Padres ran circles around him last weekend it Dodger Stadium, three of four came back from a six run deficit, and the Giants will enter the final day of the month. Tied with the Dodgers and first place, so can they really be the best team in baseball history if they didn't run away with the division in the month of April? My response to that article is Have you seen Tony Disco pitch at Oregon Park? That's my response. Have you seen the Logan Web changes? Have you seen my guy Alex would taking a no hitter into the sixth inning? Yeah, Obviously, this is this was not predictable based on how the Giants have performed, but the Dodgers have dealt with some injuries. I think you and I talked about exact McKinstry came up for Cody Bellenger going down. Then he got her. Gavin looks got hurt, and now he's back Mookie Betts in and out of the lineup, But, um, great teams, and I think back to like the 1998 Yankees, who won 104 In games. They started something like two and six or two and seven and then kind of bounced back. You could look across baseball in the month of April and their teams that start hot, they get out in front. They start rolling. But if you could build a nice little cushion, sometimes it makes it tough for those middle of the road, middle tier teams to battle back like I'm looking at the ale Central, and I think as we record this on Thursday, the Kansas City Royals have the best winning percentage in all of baseball. I think they've got one fewer loss or one more win something like that from the Giants and the Dodgers and the Red Sox, But they've built a nice little cushion there. I assume In the Minnesota Twins will get off and running. I assume the White Sox will make a charge for that division. But when it comes to the end of West, the Giants, obviously the biggest surprise, But it's also a major surprise that the Dodgers don't have, like, I don't know that they're not 26 you know, at the end of the month, because that's kind of what people were talking about. Have you looked at them and identified anything with them that maybe sort of a weak spot? I think bullpen is clearly the Achilles heel right now for the Dodgers. Yeah, I think that the injuries are a really good point to talk about. And Cody balance. You're not being his full self not being on the feet. Old has definitely hurt the Dodgers. But you know, this is a lineup that lost Jack Peterson last year. It lost, Alex would out of that rotation and look, the Dodgers are stacked from a pitching standpoint, so stacked that their fifth spot in the rotation was coming down to Dustin made David Price and Tony Gone Salon at the end of the spring. But at the same time, the lineup hasn't like out produced. Expectations. You know, they went that first week of the season haven't seven different players with O. P s is over 900. But since that point, the injuries have caught up to them. The hitting hasn't been as good and maybe you make a good point. Copes Anthony DeSclafani. Tony Disco can shut down l A this year. Maybe the Giants did the right thing in building this pitching staff the way they did to contend with the Dodgers, and I'm look, I'm not saying that San Francisco Will be in this race come August in September and will be challenging the Padres and Dodgers for 95 100 wins. But what I am saying is, I do think the way the Giants were built with their pitching staff, and you know the timely hits that they've already received in the month of April. I do think that they can at least play the Dodgers and the Padres tight and I don't think they're gonna be overmatched this year in those games, and that's why I do think that after seeing this first month of play, the Giants will have a really good shot, even though the schedule was weak during the month of April to end this for you. Your drought of losing seasons the Giants in their history dating back to the night. 18 83, New York. Gotham's have never had five consecutive losing seasons. And I think that Farhaan and Scott and gave Captain have done a really nice job assembling a team that should win at least 81 games this year. Yeah, the I think that's where I pulled that. Can I ask the question? At what point can we say This isn't a fluke for the Giants, and I think when you do it for a month ago, Okay, that's clearly inside this team because they've had to come from behind wins. I've had to shut down wins. They've had a complete game shutout. They've had brilliance from the bullpen, and they've had some some meltdown from the bullpen as well. But I think what's key to note here is that they have not played a game yet in which they've been blown out. They've been in just about every ball game, and they've won games in different ways. They win that game behind Alex would on Wednesday night without hitting a home run, right. Where is that? We're hitting tons of home runs and solo homers that that you're also seeing tons of different guys step up. While there are injuries on this roster, we mentioned the Dodgers, you're being done. What about Brandon Crawford, who's dealing with a few injuries? What about Donovan Solano, who's on the.

Cody Bellenger Matt Jones Aaron Rodgers Donovan Solano Brandon Crawford David Price Jack Peterson Anthony DeSclafani White Sox Madison Bumgarner Red Sox Oregon Park Wednesday night Minnesota Twins Alex Cody August 95 Bay Area Scott

"And not so much like. I don't even think that's the biggest question like pretend like relevant to success for the Giants. But I do think, if poses good or opposes the Posey. We were used to seeing for so many years. Obviously, the Giants are in a much better situation. I think the better question is like What are they looking for? Like you can have your expectations for like we need him to to put up these numbers. But what does he need to do to help this team be successful? He's gonna play Gold Glove defense is just what he does behind the plate. I don't know how much run he's gonna get it First. There's a lot of right handed bats. There's there's no reason for Buster Posey to pick up the first base and spent this year. No reason whatsoever. So the question I have is, Does he end up in a situation like we're watching Warrior basketball right now? Second warrior reference of the pot by the way today. Steph Curry Looks like he's more fresh than we've ever seen. And Draymond Green looks pretty good, too. He had a four game scratch over the last week or so. Re and 50 assist his legs look good. I think there's something to be said about guys in the N B, A who play year after your deep into the playoffs, putting a lot of extra miles on those legs. The same can be said about Buster Posey in the postseason. For that stretch of years, he comes up in 09 sure, at the end within 2010 in May deep into the postseason, win a World Series 12 the exact same thing 14. Same thing, 16 the same thing into the playoffs and all of those times. I think you said this last week outside of the Grand Slam off from that late. Oh, so there's not a whole lot of offensive calling cards for Buster Posey in the playoffs, So it's all about how he handles the staff how he handles the defense, how he calls pitches and maybe unrivaled by anybody in the game today outside of Yadi Molina. In ST Louis Buster is the best catcher of this generation. So for me, it's about where he's hitting in the lineup. What are your expectations for the offensive production? So I don't know if he's gonna be like Is it gonna be Steph Curry fresh because he's had this time off, or is he gonna be that hip is just is just still not what it used to be. You know what I mean? I'm really Yeah, I'm really fascinated because I believe it was. Nick Hundley, who said back in 2017 when he was first playing with the Giants came into spring training and said after Hundley had played it course field in Colorado that if Buster Posey was a Colorado rocky, he would win the batting title every year. He is that type of a hitter. He is that type of knowledge plate discipline, ability to go the other way work with what pictures are giving him and he just wasn't healthy enough in 2017 or 2018 2019 to really do much damage. And now that he will have this year and a half off in between serious baseball competition that's putting stress on his body. Will he return to that level? Where you know he is a 300 hitter? He is a 3 10 guy. We know he's not gonna hit 20 home runs. That's just not happening. He probably won't play enough to hit 20 home runs, Will he? Catch 100 games. Well, it only be 81 games. How quickly will Joey Bart working the next? I'm really fascinated. See all of us, and I think we're gonna learn. Ah, whole lot. In spring training about what Buster Posey is capable of just based solely on where he isn't lineup how often he's playing. If they've got him going back to backs. It'll be interesting to see Adam. I want to move on to pressing question Number two, and that is speaking of the lineup. Speaking of where Buster Posey's hitting. I do believe it'll be much lower this year than it was under Bruce Bochy is the Giants lineup better? Against right handed pitchers or left handed pitchers. Keep this in mind against righties. You'll see Brandon Crawford, Brandon Belt, Tommy Lost Ella Alex Dickerson. Maybe new trade acquisition. Lamont weighed against lefties. It'll be Donovan Solano, Donnie Barrels. Wilmer Flores, Darren Rough, Austin Slater and Marie She. O D. Bon. What's funny? Is there so many guys and this is far Hunt's plan and we see this with the Dodgers. You're going to see it with the Padres. So much versatility is what makes them attractive. You can mix and match now I do think When they have the left handed lineup out there against the left handed pitcher. They're gonna miss the designated hitter more than some other teams. I think not having for having the ability to put Wilmer Flores that there is an extra bad not having a guy to put have the ability to put Darren rough necessarily out there because Alex Dickerson probably going to start left and that comes back to my left fielder situation with you is if he was the opening day left fielder last year, and if They have a right handed starter for Seattle on opening day. You should see Alex Dickerson in left field, right? Who's the Mariners? Ace to the Mariners Have an ace? Who's on the Mariners. That's the very question like Is this strange? Gorgeous? Still up there now he actually just kind of minor league deal with the Reds. So, Yeah, they're most prominent player for the last few years, getting a minor league contract in Cincinnati. That's when you know you have built a juggernaut, a team that has produced so many so many incredible players. I mean, we're talking. You know Alex Rodriguez and Omar Vizquel was up there. Randy Johnson's up there. Ken Griffey, Griffey's You and your radio Martinez bread, but nothing to write home about. You know, the greatest single season team of all time nothingto write home about anyway, when it comes to the success of this lineup, I really do think the right handed hitting line up against the left handed pitching is going to be the team with the most success. Donovan Solano. What we saw from him last year is gonna be huge. Brandon Belt was awful against left handed pitching last year didn't see a bunch of it, but under I think was under 1 30 against lefties. So I'm or intrigued by the guys that were brought in last year that we saw success from Mikey, as is going to be out there against lefties and righties. I really like the idea of Darren rough planes from first base against lefties and getting a chance to hit. Maybe you put a guy like that, like Wilmer Flores over a third. I think the deal doesn't play who doesn't play first base on this team? If Darren Rough, Austin Slater, Brandon Belt, Tommy Lost Ella and Wilmer Flores and Buster Posey all had first baseman's mitt. Question in spring training question is who doesn't get to play against the left? Which right handed batter you leave it out of the line up against the lefty. I got a place later. I gotta play. I probably more issued a bond for me to bond may be the one who he may be. He may be the only guy capable of going to shortstop because you really gonna trust a guy named Donny barrels to go play with the glove shortstop right now, after all the years he made last season, So what you're telling me is with these burning questions. I've got no answers about burning. That's the issue. This is this is back to your home. Which light up this better. We like it so funny, I think last year we spent all if we were doing this podcast one year ago today on February 11th 2020. And by the way, what? We had no idea what was coming, right? Yeah, no idea. Not only that, Not only the covert 19 pandemic was coming, but the Darren rough exist. Turn Dr Existence by the way we were looking at, like, Yo yo. Omar Sanchez will be out there at second for the Giants. Billy Hamilton Center. Exactly. So, the burning questions in February much different than the burning questions at the end of march, right?.

We like it so funny, I think last year we spent all if we were doing this podcast one year ago today on February 11th, 2000 and 20. And by the way, what? We had no idea what was coming, right? Yeah, no idea. Not only that Not only the covert 19 pandemic was coming, but the Darren rough exist during rough existed by the way we were looking at, like, Yo yo Omar Sanchez will be out there and second for the Giants Billy Hamilton Center. Exactly So the burning questions in February much different than the burning questions at the end of March, right? Yeah, I will say though I'm gonna counter you, and I think that the line up against right handed pitchers will actually be better because Tommy list l, a brain a belt, Mikey Stransky and Alex Dickerson those air for patient hitters. Those are guys who really complement each other. Well, I think that you know the phrase that the sum is greater than the whole of its parts. I think that is particularly true with that group getting with Stella in there. He's what you know gonna hit 2 70 to 80. Probably an O. P s around 7 50. You're not gonna get anything spectacular, but you will see the residual effect of his at bats and his plate appearances further down in the line of I think he just makes everyone else better. And so that's why I take the writers over the lefties. I think that's a really interesting proposition. And I think the power's definitely bigger with the left handed hitting lineup versus right handed pitching. I also do think Gabe Kapler will have an easier time transitioning toe left handed bullpen arms who come in to face That line up late in the game or in the middle of the game, because you'll have the ability to go to Austin Slater to go to Darren Rough to go to Don Solano off the bench. And if you've got those three guys to step in for your time, it was Stella's and you're Brandon Belts are probably not Mike, you scram ski. But if you plug in some of those guys, maybe Dickerson to face a lefty in that situation, Think of Ah, I don't know. In the past, you might seem like a Jake McGee coming in for the Dodgers to see that line up late now, Of course, he's a giant. But if you can plug in some of those guys to face the left handed pitcher, I think waiting the game your your ability to mix and match. Pretty good. I don't have the same confidence with the bench coming in against a right handed hitter late in the game versus a lefty. Yeah, I'm with you on that. So let's move on to our third pressing question. And this is something that I was doing Research for a story yesterday and I was counting all the losing seasons the Giants have had in their history and I was thinking, OK, When's the last time they've lost? You know they've gone under 505 straight years. So I start going back that that period from like 2006 to 2009 or whatever, you know it wasn't great, I think was 5 4000. That's right. That was four consecutive losing once and then I start to go back. You know, they have four consecutive losing seasons in in the seventies or eighties. There. Then you go back to the New York Giants three losing seasons here, the New York Jax were dominant for a long period of time. People forget don't sleep on the 1906 to 1910 New York giants Christy Mathewson. Was was incredible. But then you go back to the New York Gotham's, which was the team before The New York Times They still have not lost..

"This is going to be the first player that they've really said you were going to be a part of the future when we think that we can win again, and I think that Tommy lost. Ella is not just a winning 2020 22 or 2023 move. It's also a hey, Let's see what we can do in 2021. Let's see if you know the Padres of the Dodgers get Severe injuries or something chaotic happens where there's issues with them where the Giants are all of a sudden challenging for the second wild card spot because the NL East is going to be tough. There's gonna be teams that emerge from there, but you look at this light up and Tommy was selling. Let's assume he hits leadoff for the Giants against right handed pitchers. You remember lineup that has Mikey Stransky, Brandon Belt Alex Dickerson, Tommy La Stella and Brandon Crawford probably getting down on the seventh or a slot. That's gonna be really good. That's gonna be a really, really tough light up on these pictures in the National League. And so the patients the plate discipline the amount of balls that are in play with these guys. It's just a group that kind of syncs up really well, so he was always going to be the most obvious edition. And I think that it's no surprise to anyone who follows the Giants, whose followed far anxieties tenure that he was the guy they ultimately settled on for their left handed back. Yeah, I think the question for me is where he fits in beyond this season, and it's not that he doesn't fit in. It's so many players are coming off the roster after this year. You and I have talked about Brandon Belt a free agent Brandon Crawford's offer. Basically, if you run through the Giants roster. What's so funny is the only guys they're actually committed to a fate. Decide not to bring back Buster Posey, your pick up that option if they decide not to bring back Johnny Cueto. It's like a few relief pitchers. That's Evan Longoria over there. Third base. You got some arbitration, guys. You Stransky and Alex Dickerson, our guys you're gonna have to deal with arbitration lies. But like Donovan Solano free agent after this year's this a guy you say, See you later to do you say the same to Wilmer Flores, who's got isn't a team option at the team options for three million. I mean, that is a bargain for Wilmer deals. Yeah, exactly like he would be making way more if he was still arbitration eligible, so But you're right. Also look at the pitching staff. The rotation Gosman Cueto de Sclafani. Alex would who just signed one year three million who's gonna be back next year? Who's going to be wearing the orange and black and 2022? Because we have no genuine concept or clue of what that roster is gonna look like? So they haven't locked themselves into basically anything And I guess what's what's a little worrisome is like I look at the free agent market next off season and there are it's going to be one of the best, and I assume that some of these guys are going to get extensions. It's going to be one of the best free agent classes of all time. I think when you talk about young Thomas Harlan, this is a free agent. Corey Seager is a free agent Nolan era. Nono has an opt out. Trevor Story's going to be a free agent. Not just a whole lot of great short stops and infielders and power bats and young guys coming up. But a lot of guys in the NL West that could either shuffle within the division or move outside of the division that could really have an impact on what happens with the powers that be as far as the Padres and the Dodgers go, so I'm also wondering like, Do you think the Giants and I assume they have like, looked at a couple of these guys and said, Like Corey Seager's Our number one option. You can pull him from the Dodgers or whatever, but also you're gonna have to fill out a rotation of five guys, you have no pictures under contract. As far as the rotation goes beyond this season, so first off the guy who stands out to me, picture wise Lance McCullers shinier because he's got that sensational curveball. Everything about his analytics profile screams. The San Francisco Giants like he is going to work with Brian Banister. I've already put Lance McCullers and a giant uniform for 2022, because I'm not confident that they're gonna have interest in him. Just totally unrestricted free agent. I believe I believe so. I believe so I have to go back and check because there is some arbitration stuff that makes someone unclear but He was on my list of guys who's like when he comes up when the time comes, put him in a Giants uniform because it makes too much sense. But you go back to the shortstop conversation. Obviously, this is the last year Brandon Crawford in a Giants uniform. We know far anxiety loves Corey Seager. We know he loves left handed hitters at premium positions that power can play it Oracle Park. We have seen it time and time again. The guy has popped balls into the arcade throughout his career. It has not hindered him hitting it Orca part him or Trevor story. You were weakening an opponent within your own division by going out inside in one of those guys. I just think that if the Giants going to target signing someone from this massive free agent class, those two are the guys who make the biggest difference and have the track record of performance in Oracle Park that would make them so fun and just foundational pieces for that exchange score. It is super tantalizing to think about, like one or two big free agent because I imagine like next offseason. This is where Scott Harrison and Farhaan they get the shopping. Clark. They start walking around like, Who do we want? It doesn't have to be bargain bin guys. Maybe you could get Kevin Gossman assign an extension at the end of this year or near the and based on what he does, maybe Alex. What is a guy who starts to see the young players coming up and thinks this is somewhere I want to be. I buy into the system I buy into Farhaan, which is Effectively. What he said when he signed his deal because we're going to start to see these young guys this year. In theory, Alex Canario, you're gonna start to see I would hope Elliot Ramos at some point, maybe at the back end of this year. I don't know if Marco Luciano is going toe to sniff the bigs this year, But there's already I mean, he's in baseball. America's top 100 prospects already. So this is like you had one of these guys with all this young talent, the 100 bishops they're supposed to be here in the next 2 to 3 years. I think the Giants of a pretty intriguing young core called me a homer because I haven't checked But like you Sprinkle in one of these prospects air some of these prospects with one of these big name free agents. We're talking. That's the makeup for success, right? Yeah, absolutely. They're in a position to where, if three or four, these big prospects panned out two or three big free agent signings or big free agents come inside with Sam Biscoe giants 2022 2023 2024. They could be contending with the Padres and Dodgers atop the nationally West. Especially with far Hans ability to find.

He had a monster days, which they kept coming up forward over over again, Plus one just screw up. Somebody's name. It gets in your head sometimes, you know, like, Oh, no, no, I got to say this guy's name again. Oh, That's how hard it is. A hard name was that it was at the 54 51 game. Is that what that was like? A watch? Yeah, he had a monster game. Sampson. Yeah, He's the starting outside linebacker now instead of Leonard Floyd, Good player, so So what you gonna do is he's not gonna go into the broadcast booth again. I've heard one to go into coaching, right chasing wooden. Who would Dallas or with Jon Gruden hired? I don't know. I don't know. He's a good guy, Lester. I mean, yes. Your first ballot Hall of Famer. You might be his knees up there, right? And incredible. Yeah. He's up there in every category ever. Good player, personal stuff. We could go into broadcasting. I mean, why wouldn't put him on Monday night football? By the way, Do you hear that Philip Rivers is is in the mix. Now, with Monday night football. Guy. Nick Hardwick told us that a few years ago we had him on last week when you have retired. So I don't know. If he can do any coach high school football on Friday night they could do but the night football. I guess he could. Yeah. So hard you could figure out you know, I just I'll tell you this. If I had to choose between who I think is gonna be more successful. Dad Gum it Philip Rivers or order breeze. I think I take rivers. Don't know Bree's gonna be What does he do in the the makeup artist comes in before the game movie Mola Mola pulls an Oprah Let that just let that go and let me fix this jury got some smudge when? Today and tonight. Black guy black supposed to go on here, Not the side of your cheek. That is bad. Terry can't cover that up. Right? You just let it go. You let it go? Uh oh, man, that Z Stella deal is done, Tommy. Let's steady. Let's have a stellar toes. Yeah, that's a father Paul's free Your deal pending physical. He's a joke. Is that what it is? Three years? But that is surprising that with Alex Pavel with John and with the longest that, uh, that they've given out on the farm hands, too, And so Tommy gets a ton of those delegates. A three. I mean, I like the guy, but wow, Maybe the A's were in the mix, too. We needed. Imagine that negotiation I may have been in Billy with billion David forced wanted back after he turned you did well with them last year. And I lost market. Simeon. I'm He's not short stuff, but he can play third. God is not strike out. Amazing, struck out 12 times all last year. Hail brain and belted some weekend Syriza where each struck out more. Yeah, that lately he kind of covered that up. Remember a few weekends, but he had a he had a couple of golden sombreros stacked up, so this kind of put the ball in play. Yes, He's just gotten better. Better Remember with the Cubs? He was okay. He was gonna be utility guy. And then whenever the Angels had a great first half that got hurt, And then last year, they came over the A's. He's just a nice guy to have on your team. He was a scrapper. Like you said he doesn't strike out makes contact and play a couple of them in positions. He's perfect for what the the Giants are looking for. He won't be in against lefties. Michael play a lot against right handers is Angel Years last to me last year, Nobody played a full year because it was a 60 game season, but in 2019 minutes, 16 Jax Yeah. And 292, ABC 21 plate appearances. 80 games. He played half the year and he had 16. I don't know many all right here, but He could hit a mine. She'll give you a little power. So how do they divvy up playing time with? Oh, Willer and Donovan Solano. I wonder if they're half thinking about We're still gonna have that D h in the International league this year. Yeah, I better They're just thinking eventually, they're gonna come to a Agreement, even though right now it's you know, they're they're both, you know, using it as leverage, but I gotta think they're gonna do it. It just makes too much sense, doesn't it? Yeah, I think so. I think it's just a negotiating. They don't want to tie the union that they want the universal th. Obviously, it's another Theater and hitters make a lot of money, so they're not going to say no. But then it's tied to the post season the expanded postseason we saw last year, so It's a negotiation we're gonna go to say yes to that. If it's yes to that, too will say yes to that. And then we want more money for that. So But I gotta think that Farhaan and Scott are partly thinking that How good is Tommy? Let Stella defensively she could just okay, so he's not great. South. Solano was okay, We're Flores said some bad moments, but, um I mean, they wanted to keep both those guys in the lineup a lot last year, Flora's and Solano and you got Estella in there. I don't know if they're all three Bien. As you got, you know, right handed hitting component there but will be in a little bit a lot. You guys great back control. I mean, he's just does not swing and miss impressive one like you talked about that 2019 year, and it's an outlier, but Remember that year because he had just come over from the Cubs in 321 plate appearances at 16 home runs and if I'm not wrong, he got injured wasn't a broken leg and there was a foul ball or some like that, maybe hit off himself. Oh, yeah, right before the all Star game. He was He was picked as an all star, but he never got a watch. Yeah, it was a nostril Hair. 2019 was picked as it all started One time. All star. Yeah. 16 World Series champion with the Cubbies. Yeah. Yeah, and he got He got hurt. I believe right before the All Star game like if it wasn't the game before. It was like two games before. And I think you felt the ball off himself and was picked as an all star didn't play in the game. And then I think you might have missed most of the second half, if not all of it. But yeah, he was gonna get to you that year. I'm watching. I love this MLB dot Come film room just swing after swing. He just has a really controlled swing, but he throws the bad head when he recognizes the balls in the strike zone. He's not £180.5 11 but least of all a long way. So we'll see how the ballpark plays this year. That's good signing. We'll just see how much they They gave him. You know if there's any incentives built into playing time, but, yeah, Father, John Paul Marosi, saying a three year deal on the physical And then other other big deal we talked about earlier on in the show, Marcus Simeon leaves the A's. It was great on and off the field. I know you want to stay. We had him on the patio. A couple of times in the ace played the Giants He loved being in the Barry went to Cal..

"I mean, listen, it seems as if people are souring on Bart a little bit, though. I'm kind of getting this read that. I think I saw something on the block the other day, like at the Giants, just trade him, like, Get out ahead of time. What's going on there? I didn't think he was all that bad. I mean, they called him up early. I was clamoring for it. So I can't say that It wasn't a good idea. Let's get this bar guy up. I need to see of ASAP. I need something out of this season he had he had his moments. He had other moments that made him look like a rookie. I understand He's a bit older than you know, most prospects out there. It's not like there's a lot more seasoning to do. But I feel like people are kind of now selling him short. It's almost one of those situations where he was over, and now he's underrated and we'll go back to. I don't know what I don't know where why people are souring on them so fast. I can't believe that last year was enough of a sample size. Get enough of a read to say now this guy stinks. You're right about that. It was not much of a sample size. It was completely unfair for people to make that assessment of Barton say, Okay, Maybe this guy is not legit, based on the 30 games sample size when he'd never played a game of Triple A, but what I will say, And I think this is part of the reason his stock has gone down or, you know, metaphorically speaking scouts of soured on it. Whatever you want to say, hey, still highly counted. He's still going to be a part of the Giants future. What I would just say, though, is He's 24 years old. That's quite a bit older than a lot of the other prospects on that list. And so I do think age is a factor ages a determination this and as Mike Yastrzemski has shown. You don't need to be 22 years old to come in and be a productive major leaguer and make an impact being all star. But I think you and Joey Barton case he's been on the radar long enough. And he was really hurt by not having Triple a bath last year, and so I just think that if he's able to get those at bats this year, June July, he'll be right back in the mix, and people will be just as excited as they were before because I really do believe Joey Barton will make the charge, make the adjustments and then tear up the PCL because that's what good players do. That's the expectation that he'll start next season in Triple A, and they'll figure out what to do with With Buster and how to kind of handle the cacophony of catchers that they currently have going on. But Bart will be down in in the PC Alan and hidden in that band box league. Yeah, I don't think there's any question and that was before they went out and signed Curt to Sally to the one year deals. They brought him in to really be Buster's back of travel. Trump is back on a major league deal. So he's on the 40 Man roster. I just think that they want to see Joey bark, continue develop, continue to get that confidence going against minor leaguers and prove that he could make the adjustments, the breaking ball that he needs. There have to be more contact skills, and I know that the game is all about O. P s. And so you can strike out a lot and still be a very successful player. But you can't strike out as much as Joey Barton didn't 2020 What's going on with Donovan Solano Seems like we're heading to an arbitration thing. I was kind of of the mindset that maybe the giant should get off of Donovan Solano. Maybe sell high and go and get a left handed hitting second baseman. They're still a couple of those available on in the marketplace. Is that a possibility or the Giants locked in on Solano? It's understandable as to why the value could be of question in pre arbitration. Negotiations given, you know, kind of his one dimensional sort of play Well, what? What's the dealer? It's interesting. I thought, you know, of all the players who were big contributors on the 40 Man roster last year, who had good seasons. I thought that's a lotta was the most tradable because very reasonable contract expectations for the 2020 21 season. Wilmer Flores is around the Giants really like Wilmer Flores at second base? Probably not hard to find a backup second basement. If the D H is coming to the national You probably want him on the rocks. You're even though he's not a great fielder. He can go out and play some second base. He can spell Brandon Crawford it needed at shortstop, and I just think he gives your roster some flexibility. As for the pay difference between what the Giants believe he shouldn't paid what Donovan Solano believes he should be paid. Look, a lot of people have told me this week that I have no business telling anyone else how to spend their money the giant I think that the jacket should just pay Donovan Solano like this $700,000. It's not worth it. Yes, you don't. I don't. I don't get that feeling. And maybe if you get the lower contract is much easier to trade that one of these mid market teams that washes every penny. But the Giants do not need to develop the reputation is watching every penny. I just do not believe that pandemic or not, It's not a good look for the organization. So do I think that they will come to an agreement? Yes. And do I understand why farmhands ideas got Harris? You're doing this? Absolutely. It is the smart, practical, reasonable thing to do when your baseball executive but I'm saying this because I'm not a baseball executive. Those those are my two cents. Well, for now, we'll see. It's only a matter of time. Carry Crowley. What do you know about Arizmendi? L a Contra. That's it. That's a great question Giant sign him to a minor league deal. Utility player. I think he was last in the bigs in 2017. Bay Area. Baseball fans might recognize the name because he had cameo with the AIDS before they settled on Jed Lowry and second base way back when he had a failed cameo, And so did Max Muncy. It's second base with the one of those guys turned out to be pretty good. Exactly, And so is their hopes that he could make the nation like roster. Hmm..
