It was like watching the loudmouth guy in the bar turning around and running square into the chest of the buff bouncer who seen it all politic plus ten will have it all to do in Madrid this week. You'll be there at the Bernabeu in person to witness it live after the final whistle last week. He said the toe was over. It's not there, is it? No, not at all. I don't think it's that unrealistic to think that Chelsea can beat Real Madrid in Madrid. It's a tall order, obviously, and the Bernabeu is a special place on a Champions League night, but Chelsea, I think, have a higher ceiling than Real Madrid. So if Chelsea play two their best, they should win. The tide's not over, not a chance. Chelsea are far too good to write themselves off. I can understand why total said it, I think he was probably feeling emotional, quite annoyed. You don't want to be going into that tie with two dolls to make up. But at the same time, this isn't a vintage Real Madrid. One thing sure. As long as good luck charry Smith is in the building, Real Madrid will have nothing to fear. Speaking of slowing down, Luka Modrić, there was a moment in the second half that they're almost always in these high level games where there's something that sticks in your brain and it just encapsulates the difference between the two sides. And it's messy in a rare foray down the right hand side. Bursting away down the sideline and tracking him, relentlessly. Like a Croatian terminator. It's Lucca magic. Slides in, sliding tackle. What's Luka magic is not noted for these things. But the desire and the passion to get back and he whips the ball away and sends messy flying as well. And Ancelotti just nodding just nodding and satisfaction in the background. Wow. That was a moment for me. So let's go to the PSG side of it now. And you know, I think it's not an image that any of us got to see, but for me, the indelible image of this is what I picture in my head, the aftermath of this game, because you can just, you can sometimes get a sense of where a team is at mentally with sort of how they carry themselves in the immediacy of after a let down like this. And you mentioned JJ, they got trying to allegedly storm into the officials dressing room and pochettino. I raised crying. I'm going to speak with a soccer legend from over in England. Ian Wright, who's actually in New York, currently. As part of the UK's great calling campaign, so we'll talk to him about that about arsenal about his time with England. We'll get into everything. With him. That should be, that should be really a lot of fun. Yeah, and everything else is happening in the world. It feels as if I don't know. This time last year with the Super League we thought it can't get busier than this. Well, it really can. Yeah, it really can. We'll talk obviously about the situation at Chelsea and what's now happening with the sanctions against Roman Abramovich and his frozen assets. It's so funny because we don't like, we don't soccer teams are so integral to communities and to like our lives are enjoyment. Like we watch, we don't think of them as an asset. Like it's, you know, it's not like it's not like a Rolex watch, but like they're an asset for Roman Abramovich. And when you freeze assets, they all get frozen. And Chelsea was not immune. No. And as Matthew said pointed out in a video that I think was some years ago, it wasn't just for love of football that Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea. There was a time when he may have had to put money into something where he could protect that money. And that place was Chelsea football club. And it is, it's hard to know exactly how this is going to change that club. But it will. It undoubtedly will, and a lot of those changes Chelsea are going to be feeling quickly. So we're going to talk about that shortly. I know there were some people asking us yesterday that wanting us to do an emergency pod for it. It was considered, but we knew we were recording today with Ian right, so we thought, you know what? We'll take a day. We'll digest it and we'll do all of it together on Friday podcast, which is where we are now, JJ. But we wanted to start with soccer. Real soccer. Kicking a ball on grass. Man running around. That's exactly what happened. A couple days ago in Madrid. Wow. What a Champions League night that was as Real Madrid. I think it'd have to say, I mean, I know it's Real Madrid. I know they're probably going to win, but it was stunning to watch how that played out. When PSG has a lead and they're playing the way that they were playing for roughly the first, what would you say, 60 minutes of that game? Yeah. You know, even though it was even though it was still there, it wasn't entirely out of reach. It sure felt like it for the vast majority of that game. And then you blinked your eyes and bang, gone. When Killian and bappe raced through for the off site goal that we thought was going to make a tuna, then we saw it was clearly offside. If I had told you at that point, this is going to swing rapidly in the other direction. In fact, it's going to be one of de gray collapses since the last great PSG collapsed 5 or 6 years ago in the new camp against Barcelona. You wouldn't have believed it. What had happened and this is one of the most memorable Real Madrid combat, but I mean, we've seen particularly in their years of dominance with Ronaldo. We've seen games where they should have been beaten, but they endured and they continued on in the knockout stages. But this game was it felt beyond them because I think in our naivety, we thought that PSG had moved on from this brittle, this brittle setup of players that they were beyond that, which was just a crazy thing to think, because it hadn't been tested. And the minute it was tested, they fell apart. At the seams. And it wasn't just the front three Andrew. It went throughout the team, from the goalkeeper to the center backs to the midfielders and to that front three who were anonymous. They only managed what. After the equalizing goal, one shot after that, it was a wave of white shirts getting forward. It was a spectacular collapse. It was. This will be the 18th quarter final appearance for Real Madrid. Only Bayern Munich have more with 20. So, you know, you wonder about this. How did they pull it off? How did this happen? You know, you touched on a couple of the things there. I would say, first off, for Real Madrid, a little bit of good fortune. And that's fair. That's not a knock against them, but Mbappé was not far off from having a hat trick in this game, if not for two relatively narrow offside calls. The right calls, I don't think anybody would debate them. But, you know, it's close. And he scored on them, and he's a tremendous finisher when he gets in space. His ability, JJ, just watching him. You know, I've seen him do this before. His ability to kind of like make the goalkeeper think that he's going like far post and then bring it back to the near post. He's such a unique fan. He opens his body up like you kind of think you know where that ball's going. His ability to kind of juke a goalkeeper is a something. In full flight Andrew, he's terrifying because he does this thing where he often just lets the ball run between his legs and he's doing his legs are doing the faking. The ball is kind of not involved. But if you go for it, he's gone by you. It'll suddenly become involved again. And Courtois was just sold a complete pop there. And he slides at home. And that's another element it is. When he's in that devastating form, by the way, we taught he had a foot injury. We all saw the footage of him getting stamped on, really didn't seem to affect him at all. But when he's in that kind of form, you'd think this is over. And you know, Caravaggio was so high, there was so much space in behind. It beggars belief that he ended up on the losing team. It really does. That's the other side of this too, which you kind of also touched on. You know, we've said this before about any number of teams. We've talked about it once with villa. I think we talked about it with arsenal before. And now we're talking about with PSG. It's just amazing how far you can go. If you just don't beat yourself, just be normal. Yeah. And like this is a comeback that doesn't happen, if not for some carelessness from the PSG goalkeeper, Donna Roma at the back, and then on the second goal, Neymar with a costly giveaway that sprung Real Madrid's attack back the other way, which led to the second goal. "Forget there's club bridge game. I mean, the four points at club Bruges to offer very well shading against teams at the bottom and the Champions League group stage. But they've been banging average by the squad that they have assembled, but all it takes one spark, one big team performance, one special night from that front three, depending on where Neymar's and that could change. And I think that's always the concern. I think on paper at the moment, doesn't likely. But by the time the knockout stages come around, yeah, the knockouts did just come around. Yeah. Whenever that is in a few weeks time or whatever, just could be a different story. I mean, you can't not see the potential champions. But what have you seen that's told you that? No. Absolutely nothing. But you can not Tom roe, you see, these are potential champions because if you get bumpy name off and messy, the potential for them to destroy any team is there. But there has to be potentially realized. Okay, so the opposite of that is you look at PSG. If you're any of those teams in goal, well, not worry about. Okay, they may have been Barbie, may I see an email, but there have been absolute garbage. But what he allowed? No. They potentially, if they can get it together, could win this. They could. Frank? Well, I just want to remind people that the always considered goals in Premier League in a League One sorry and in chambers league. But the only time where I think they normally should have lost that game, they kept the clean sheet against Manchester City and one to kneel. Tom last season, they normally should have lost against by a Munich and they won that game away from home. I think it was something like that. But it's possible everything is possible because in one second or two seconds those players are front can change the game because of the fantastic action. And if, for once, you know, the defense wants to work together with the midfield with midfielders and if you have a fantastic navas or Dona ruma, and you have more knots, they keep them beer at the back and start thinking about playing a three at the back. Everything is possible for Parisian jammer and they can be dangerous. Imagine the play against Manchester United. They can win against Manchester United. I think my God. No, no, I understand that, Frank, but we're talking about Manchester City. We're talking about Chelsea, we're talking about Bayer Munich. We're talking about Liverpool. The real world. The bit Manchester city. You can not play against me. It's the city, because they are already in a group stages. But the bit mesh is a city. I think they can beat Chelsea. They can be Juventus. And also can be Real Madrid. I'm sure in two games, in two legs, they can do so because the talent, but they can be destroyed as well. It's possible. But we're kind of stretching, and we're catching our straws a little Frank, and then what have you seen to suggest that despite that talent that they can come together on the day and do it? Because because those players have the talent to suddenly start working together and because of their individual talent, make the difference, that's it. And you don't know what the opponent is going to be in which the opponent is going to be as well. It's why I say it's football after all. It's a human sport. I guess like any other sport, but it's human. So everything is possible. It's alien sports, Don. I just don't trust them over two legs, Dan. I mean, I get what the lads are saying and they're right because they're just so unpredictable because they've got quality players at the top end of the pitch. You're always think they're going to turn it on. And then if they've got variety who's brilliant in midfield and marquinhos at the back and Donna Roma, you start trying to put little pieces together and hakimi at right back and you look at it and you go, God, they're brilliant. But then when you come up against a buy and machine or a Liverpool machine or a man city machine who could just keep the ball away from you, are the likes of mes you're going to track back in the important moments of the game. We'll end bate track back. We'll name our track back in the important game. Will they help their midfield? Can they grind something in the second leg? We all know they can turn it on against anyone because they're like the Harlem dope trotters are just brilliant technicians and amazing players and legendary players, but stick them up against a machine over two legs.
