"Pennsylvania, for instance. And last room of the exhibition, it's all built around the so called deadly Madonna, which is a small relief that comes from the big grand Albert Museum that probably, as you know, comes scholars think is not by Donatello, others have been reaffirming Donatello, authorship, like the curator of the show, and you have this kind of like breathtaking succession of amazing painting and sculptor. And juxtapose from Donatello, Michelangelo, Donatello and Leonardo, Donatello and sansovino. Donatello up to Artemisia gentileschi, just to show how he was really the root through which all of what we think, even in terms of mannerism and the grand art was perceived. And in the collection of the bargello itself, it will be the first time that some works are exhibited and can be compared with the permanent collection of the museum. So somehow we hope that visitors, after being at stroke at the burden, then spend time and make themselves art historians and go and find donatella traces in the work of artists of the caliber of cellini down Bologna, others. Yes, we have many other artists we don't tell, of course, is the leader of this show. In terms of numbers, we are about, I think, 60 or more in the exhibition. I don't remember the precise number, but we are about the half of the show of work on the hotel, which is not obvious. We have also pupil for sure, but very, very little compared to what we could have done because really we are opening a Pandora's box about but we especially have a companions and I will say brothers for that, especially if you think about Brunelleschi. Masaccio Bellini mantegna, they are not minor artists for sure. They are very, very important master among the most important master of all the time. They were, we don't tell sometimes they were following him. Sometimes they were with him like the kids would do like the two were really, they did the part of their life together. They were really close friends. And then, of course, in part what there is this incredible revolution under ten abroad for the first time ever. We have loans from the part of Alta del Santo is incredible. We have the miracle de la moula, the crucifix and HR works, but also the other cultural Delta central change the idea of art in the north of Italy. Totally, not only in the rotary, also in the Adriatic coast. So there we can find many others name may be less well known, such as Marcos or Giorgio and many others, but of course we try to limit this part of the show because this was really a limited, in a way. And then we also have interesting comparison for instance, we closed the exhibition with the beautiful head of the horse for the monument for the king of Naples, is a giant, is really huge. It's a monster. It's not a horse, but on the side we have the bronze from the collection that Donatello was inspired from. So we also have this kind of comparison anti chronological in a way. But very important because the world was inspired by a Greek original and as you know that there was one of the first artists to rediscover classic art. Obviously one of the advantages for Donatello aside from his genius was that he lived a long time and therefore was able to accomplish so much unlike Nani di Banco. But he was relentless in that time. He never rested in his lawyers. He was always even right at the very end he was pushing himself to new territory, wasn't he Paola. Yes, I think what is surprising is how much energy and physical effort he put towards the end of his life and how much he wanted to really experiment and some of this creation are so incredible that up to this day there are still contended between him as a master and some of his followers. You know, if you think of works that are still between him and there does it or even Bertoldo and what I think it is important is in this show to see how much it never not only repeated himself but was also challenging himself towards the end of his life. Not only in monumental sculpture, but I think especially in the beliefs. And we managed together to assemble the false pan of the Nutella life and career from the early beginning in marble to the youthful bronzes to the very late bronzes and this kind of like unfinished and rough treatment that would probably sound so unlike the perfection of the renaissance, but actually you find in Donatello late works, especially the one that he does when it comes back to Florence. And I think this is important to bear in mind even for contemporary artists because we think of them as experimenting new things, but in this respect, I'm pretty confident that the public will be surprised by Donatello modernity. And he's ambition in terms of challenging himself, the material, and canon of art. A tour of tell us about reliefs because the chateau technique is extraordinary and it's one of the things he's most famous for. Can you explain to our listeners what was so revolutionary about that? We see that was able to create universe and a lot of space in a flat surface without recurving very little. And it's incredible to see, really, in broad but also marble. And we have many examples in the show this idea of the space, which is unbelievable, and is also related to what I said before. The idea of Donatello reinventing an expressive way, the mathematical perspective. So this was really a revolution because it was not just about a point of view and creating the box around, but it was creating movement and also suggesting something else, something related to the histories telling us for instance the battery from Siena with the beheading of St. John the Baptist and this is the story is very dramatic if you see that if you want figure sculpted in bronze, but if you check the space, you feel the drama also without the human figures.

"Of the bargello collection, which are so identitarian, and iconic to the museum that can not be moved. And they are the marzook, the saint George, with its amazing early relief, which really, I still find it breathtaking. It's one of those things that really makes me stay there for hours. And of course, the bronze David, which is better known, but has always been less appreciated than known in the right perspective. So together with the director of the show and with Arturo, we are trying something that has not been tried thus far. And at bargello, we will welcome a very important statue by dessert as a team. David, from the National Gallery of Washington, which was not lent to the burden. In 1887, when it was instilled in Florence and in the martelli household. Now it's been learned over a hundred years later. This is called museum diplomacy. So what Florentine could not achieve foreigners managed? That's amazing. I wanted to talk about the breadth of his language because of course he was a master in so many different materials and that's what sets him apart in so many different ways. Paolo, do you want to tell us about that sort of breadth of expertise and this extraordinary virtue? Was it power that he had in so many different materials? Yeah, I still think that Donatello is the most surprising artist of his time and in certain respect of all times because he had a kind of like complete freedom and will to experiment and to mix different techniques in not only managed bronze casting and marble carving, as well as clay modeling, but he also became very versatile in plaster. And in combining materials, one of the most important works that will be on the show here in Florence at strozzi is the PO Madonna from the Louvre, which is a combination of color terracotta clay and glass to show off the importance of Donatello, which kind of like embodied the best tradition of craftsmen in Florence and combined with the high refined milieu, which he was used to live in, especially since he met when the Medici and recreate in a way a new modern conception of antiquity. He was also someone who challenged the convention of different media and he expanded his knowledge in the rest of Italy. And this is something that the show will really be able to show in the highest and in the most wide ranging ways, I think that in a way people will understand more the modernity of the Nutella nowadays that they could over a hundred years ago when there was still very strong the hierarchy of the arts. So somehow marble and bronze first and all the other techniques were sort of like a second class whilst this was not the case and it was not how Donatello conceived his art. That's really interesting. Arturo, can you say something about how you can introduce that element of surprise in Donatello's work to an audience that's used to seeing the works of the people who followed him and built on his ideas. So how can you give that sort of shock that rupture that Donatello created? Yeah, this is the first time that the public have the opportunity to visit a complete show of the Nutella. Not only because it's the first complete survey ever realized on the artist but also because we had just two previous exhibitions. One in the bargello 1886, so I think nobody is still alive. And then the second one in 100 year later in the 80s, but it was a smaller exhibition in the fertile Belvedere, a completely different environment. Let's say that these two exhibitions were in a prehistory of the history of the exhibitions. So we made a lot of potential to make this exhibition at the same time philological and spectacular. You will see the display in the best way because in both case in bargello and Palazzo strozzi are in two perfect buildings for its works. And I think people will be surprised to see all these different together as power was saying the evolution of his language is incredible. You just can not believe that it's the same authors starting with a gothic language until these late output work is almost expressionist. People will be able to understand what does it mean the expressive use of perspective that was a signature of Donatello this uses the protective in a way invented the cinema 5 century before is incredible to see also all these data is the power of these inventions. It is really extraordinary. Now we are installing mind blow that you can probably feel my enthusiasm in my voice. It is really I think the same for parallel with installing the bagel at the same time. So it's really incredible to see all these things together because of course there are a lot of details spread that are in Tuscany. And by the way, we are also organizing an itinerary called scan and Tuscany, which we invited people to go around and discover a lot of treasure by the author. There are many, many beautiful places to discover. But to see all together concentrated in some rooms like that is really unbelievable. Really, I believe, people will feel the power of these artists to really change our history forever. Indeed. I'm really interested Paolo in the way that you've chosen to show works by his followers. He's contemporaries by other artists in order to amplify his own achievement. Can you say something about how you've done that? So what happens at the bardello is that ideally, it's again a show that you can start in both venues because we have the salon in the Nutella with the youthful works. And we have the importance of Donatello for the 16th century, whilst strozzi as Arturo will say has a more of a chronological follow in terms of the visit. It would be really impossible to fully represent the importance of Donatello for artists of the 16th century and 17th century. But what I think it has been achieved in both the news of the show is really to underline how Donatello is the father of 15 and 16th century art and how somehow he created some prototypes that were repeated over and over along centuries. So at the bargello, for instance, there are two rooms devoted the first to the importance of Donatello for artists that probably the general public would not even relate directly to him. Someone like.

Those are all your questions on those heroes in a half shell. We'll be right back in just a second with a second half of this half shell to give you those answers. We're back with the answers to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trivia. Let's see what you got right and wrong. Number one, which of the four turtles has the biggest temper that would be Raphael. Raphael, especially in the first movie, big temper, goes for walks in the park with his overcoat on, and meets Casey Jones. Number two, in the 1987 animated series April works for channel 6 news channel 6. Number three, what type of animal is rock steady mutated from? A rhinoceros, a warthog for bebop and a rhino for rock steady. Number four, the third live action film is called turtles in a time, turtles in time, not to be confused with the much better video game for Super Nintendo and arcade systems Ninja Turtles four turtles in time. Number 5, wrestler Kevin Nash plays what villain in TMNT two, the secret of the ooze that's super shredder. Shredder or super shredder would be fine there. And I don't think I ever saw the sequel to that Michael Bay produced the two films they did, but it was Tyler Perry here as Baxter stockman. Number 9, what kind of mask is Casey Jones known to wear a hockey mask? He has all those different sporting equipment tools to beat his enemies with. And number ten, according to the 1987 series theme song, what does Leonardo do? Leonardo leads Donatello does machines. Leonardo leads, he's the leader. And the bonus for two points Corey Feldman of 80s child actor fame did the voice of Donatello in the first and the third movies, not sure what they happened, what happened for number two, but he's only in the first and third for his voice. Corey Feldman, one of my favorites from The Goonies and lost boys, and all kinds of great stuff. And there you have it. 11 questions on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. One of my favorite franchises and things. I have so many turtles things. In my basement, including my brand new arcade machine, which is based in themed and detailed all around Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yeah, I could get down with that. I'm thinking. Chad George Clooney I want George Clooney in my house. If that's at all possible, okay, already story this weekend. There's like a tweet thread from this journalist. And he said that he was working for a big magazine, and he got assigned the task to do an interview with George Clooney at George Clooney's house and basically he was just GonNa go chill with George, Clooney and spend the whole day with them right? It's always says he goes, and he meets Clooney and he's my guy. He's the nicest coolest guy. Guy You could ever imagine you're nervous the whole time around because he's so cool and he makes you feel amazing and he goes, so we made a time. We set up a time and then I was going to go hang out with them and interview 'em for four five hours the next day and the journalist Guy said I went home and I had to eat in my stomach felt bad, and I realized something was wrong, and so he goes to the hospital. He burst his appendix Whoa so is. is in the hospital versus appendix in East Post to be meeting with George Clooney to do this whole interview, so he takes the stuff off of them in the hospital and checks himself out of the hospital and goes drugged out Hayes to George Clooney's house. That seems like that was an advised by dot. No, this was a bad bad move. And he admitted that in this story, and and I won't take you for too long hair, but he goes George Clooney's house. He's like he's so awesome. He offered. Offered me a beer. We're drinking a beer together. I'm thinking Oh my God I'm drinking a beer with George Clooney and they're just shooting the as back and forth having a blast, and he said I felt something weird and I looked down and realized there was a problem immediately so I excuse myself to the bathroom. When he goes in the bathroom, he realized the staples in his stomach ripped out, and he had bled all over George Clooney's couch. Oh, no, probably like the most expensive couch you could imagine. Eddie said I was trying to clean it up and hide it and I excuse myself the other day and George Clooney never said anything about it. Never sent a bill for cleaning. The couch was just so cool that he didn't even complain about that so I want him in my house wow. There's your store. Maybe George Clooney was just like I can't Oh, bloody mcgeough! Get Him.
