I'm going to talk about the life and work of modern montgomery. This is so exciting. So lucy montgomery and probably canada's most vitally read author of all time. She published twenty novels. Five hundred thirty short stories. Five hundred points and thirty essays and Since her first novel was published in nineteen. Oh eight her works of sold. An estimated fifty million copies worldwide so very widely read author. Yama sh she's best known as the author of an of green gables that was her first published novel that set her on the road to literary success and was Of course has been very loved character for all of these years of mark twain referred to her as the most charming character. Since alice referring to alice in wonderland and he didn't like anybody he liked and so lucy montgomery actually hated her first name She went by her middle name. Maud so that's how. I'm going to refer to her when talking about her life but she published under her initials l. m. mcenery she was born on november thirtieth eighteen. Seventy four lead word island which is canada's smallest province I'm gonna pause here and talk about prince edward island for a minute because the island was so integral to her writing. Ls she lived on the island. She loved island. Almost everything she wrote was set on prince edward island so it is a. You just can't talk about one without talking about the other and that includes you can't really talk about prince edward island without talking about me mery because she has been so significant to tourism there So prince. Edward island is one of canada's three maritime provinces like i said before it's the smallest province both in size and population It's located in the gulf of saint lawrence about one hundred and twenty miles north of halifax in nova scotia. It has two main cities charlottetown in summerside and though cities on the southern shore of the island but the rest of the island is pretty much rural and even today and the main economic activity is farming geographically. It kind of has about everything. If as far as beautiful scenery the coastline as the long beaches dunes and the red sandstone cliffs and saltwater marsh does bays harbors the sand dunes have all these different bird species and rare plants at the island's climate is a lot wilder than other parts of canada Because the gulf of saint lawrence is pretty warm al qaeda. The winters aren't as harsh. The temperature in summer doesn't get too high around the mid eighty s. The springs are pretty cold until the sea ice melts. Usually that doesn't happen too late april or early. May they have really pleasant autumns because the gulf waters delay the frost. The inner part of the island is very pastoral with woods and rolling hills saying overall talking about just a lovely picturesque place to be and that was certainly true. When i was growing up there. I'm gonna give a just a brief. History of the island. Cartier was the first european explorer to see the island in fifteen thirty. Four and france claimed it in sixteen o four as part of the colonna. They called acadia and they named it. John john sorry took spanish french pronunciation percent. The seventeen hundreds island was the site of repeated fighting between the french. The british not surprising. Because we're worked. The french and the british fighting each other in the seventeen hundreds so true and it ended up with french handing over to the british as part of the treaty of paris. In seventeen sixty three. I british the name to saint john then in seventeen ninety eight. They changed it to prince edward island to distinguish it from the other parts of canada. That were already named saint. John there's only so many you know is as far as population goes. it's important to note for maude. Montgomery's background that prince. Edward island had the highest proportion of scottish immigrants in canada and because they were relatively isolated the scottish highlanders who immigrated in the seventeen hundreds were more able to preserve their culture and avoid outside in is so there are even today a lot of gaelic speakers on the island and a thriving scottish culture. There how that interest rate up that greg cookies great shortbread a the montgomerie family settled on the island in the seventeen hundreds now. Here's here's the story route happened. They stopped there. The island to give a seasick woman named mary montgomery and much needed relief from her illness and once she got on the island she decided i'm not leaving back on the wall her as a person who gets carsick often. I there have been times where i've been like i'm gonna live at this rest. Stop on the way. I am not getting back to my car. So i understand. Yeah that's pretty much what happened. Her husband was horrified and he begged her to get back on the boat. She's pretty upset. I'm not moving. And he had no choice but to just stay with her and they settled on the island and made their home there. And that's how it happened. I wasn't passive aggressive about that at all the rest of the like well we could have been in toronto by now but somewhat on edward island. Well those were montgomery's great great grandparents. Her mother's side of the family. The mcneil's had also been there since the seventeen hundreds and they were one of the three founding families of cavendish. Maude home village. So she had the scottish background on both sides of the family. The montgomerie's claim to be descended from scottish earl and mods grandfather. Donald montgomery was a conservative legislator. and then senator. The mcneil's were liberals complete opposite in politics and there were very religious staunch presbyterians and known for being very proud family so now we're onto the eighteen seventy four donald montgomery's handsome sea captains son huge on. He was thirty three years. Old very dashing up but pretty much unlucky. didn't ever seem to make anything of himself. maybe not. The best prospect of clara mcneil was a shelter twenty one year old very beautiful huge on charmed her and married her. Her parents were not busy. Ask about this. Because as i said he just didn't seem to have good prospects for being a provider. Donald montgomery ended up buying them a small cottage and they tried to earn money by running a country store..

"Welcome in all your championships have been figured out we we did it. We made it through another year now week. One is in the books but there's a lot of football still to come Tuesday. September tenth the fantasy football. There's any Mike and we have a special guest today. Actually is it the Lizard King himself. No I mean I'm sure he'll show up from time to time because is that's what he does know but Sam Elliott legendary beef brisket legendary Hollywood actor Beef Wellington is sitting in with us US welcome to the show Sam Mongolian beef Jason Moore is kind of here. I will speak when spoken to and you will speak mckinney strange and disturbing lizard tenor. Yeah I think Magin Lizard a high pitch voices not all of you picture a one of those big old Komodo dragons that high pitch voices no but when you say lizard that's not the first thing I go okay. I mean there are a lot of species. I learned a lot about lizards over the last week so when you when someone says Lizard that's that's the one you go to and you know that's the one I go to avoid now with Little Wall Lizard Lord. I Know I learned a lot about lizards this morning and through the weekend to be honest with you. The famous quote where Sammy Watkins said that the earth is flat that I the football fields flat and that's all that really matters see ruled that kingdom this past weekend. Jason was smiling from. I'm his fevered bedroom. He thought it was fevered. Y Yeah you'd think you were. Ill Yeah Yeah I I oh I didn't know what was going on. If good I'm proud of you Sammy keep keep slam those humans he needs to do it over and over again but it looks like the table table except for him to do so. Yes today's the waiver show. We've got full steam ahead some quarterbacks streaming options for you. We have defense versus offense with some defensive streaming options options. We have news and notes. We have a lot of reactions of both Monday night football and the big weekend. I do want to remind people before the show starts. It's I tweeted this out this morning last year after week one. I wanted to go back and look to see what the fantasy finishes were like. Kenny stills number three on the week Isaiah Carell number three on the week wait so Kenny stills was awesome last year in week one correct well. He wasn't really awesome. Yesterday he caught one pass certainly but Randall Cobb was number Jae Jao you signing Kenny stills. No I just was saying that just trying to victory lap. Kenny stills in week one. I'm sure weird. I'M GONNA go look up. His actual finish is it's A. Oh really weird. Flex J. Dion Lewis Will Disney Jesse James. These were all top ten guys in fact I looked last year and I don't think it applies to this waiver show but none of the players that finished in that top fifteen last year that would have been waiver wire pickups at wide receiver running back tight right in that could have been out on the way. I don't think any of them return year long value at all so I mean if you picked up you know. I guess it would have been dion. Lewis was was drafted last year but the Jesse James is well Disney's Kenny stills. You just need to breathe. That's all I'm saying is we all need debris this fantasy owners and we're GonNa talk about all the different potential pickups cups and the staying power and I'm sure we'll disagree on some guys but the decision is up to you foot clan. It's up to you on who you WANNA Pick Cup. We just bring our information. We do we do but I want to get into a quick question. I think this is a great one for week. One Name Your Favorite Bilo player that you are targeting and trades this week because if there's ever a time to take advantage of a tilting fantasy football owner it would be week one when all their hopes and dreams were smashed by subpar apart performances by their superstars. Am I right you are correct and there was a lot of superstars that had a really rough week one yeah and so I'll answer with my favorites and I will actually say all of the buccaneers so my Kevin's Chris Godwin. OJ Howard I would be targeting all three of them and Jameis Winston was so difficult to look at with your eyeballs that the hideous Jamie's will distort the real fantasy outcomes for for this team and for what Bruce Arians. We'll be able to accomplish with this downfield offense. Mike Evans was sick. Chris Godwin salvaged his game with a touchdown. Og Howard some drop some lower snap count than I would've hoped so. I think there is a better future for fantasy now. I if you're the buccaneers you're hoping for a super bowl title I'm not I am not enthusiastic about James but for fantasy purposes I would be targeting all the bucks yeah. I completely agree. I think that Evans's is a fantastic target coming off of that performance the Guy I want to throw out in it wasn't horrific for Juju Smith Schuster He's still had you know an okay. Hey Day considering what happened to the Pittsburgh steelers but people were hoping for a lot from Juju and it just the Patriots. This is what they do Jason Jason. You were talking about this last week before the the game happened that you love Juju but week one is definitely a concern against uncle bill and the Patriots because they always shut down number one options. Just look what they've done. In the past two number one guys like tyreek Hill Jeffrey Hopkins a big name wide receivers vers- play against the Patriots and they get shut down. This is just what happened so I'm I'm still in on Juju. Smith Schuster and I'm still in on the steelers often yeah and for for me. It's it's very similar is James Connor because they were the Pittsburgh. steelers were down twenty to nothing in the blink of an eye the worst possible game script for James Name's Connor and you know the Patriots men. Did they look unfathomably good. They looked like it's impossible to beat them. I wanted to ask you andy. You have seen the future and the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl correct. But how do you feel about that now. After seeing we'll look at posted eighteen or no for the Patriots. I didn't post nineteen or no oh so yes. I don't think it'll be the giants breaking up that yeah perfect season but Philadelphia Division. I'm cool with that very nice but now they look great and then you've got uncle bill equivocating on whether Antonio Brown's GonNa play for them this week. Oh which is the real possible. I mean it's possible. They don't feel the need. They don't need him think they may bench a couple other. Guys is for for safe. We're going to play with nine in guys Brady. Sit this one out. the the reality is every every single league out there has that owner that tilts week one we we have them in our league and you have to go and trade for whoever did not do well this week trade away. Whoever did well you know what I mean like? Just just find the is. Is that like Mike Evans is a perfect example because if they're not paying attention they don't know about the illness. They don't know about the snap counts. Well and you're not trying. You're what you're trying to do. Who is say. I don't know here's a good example. I obviously believe in the colts offense. I believe in T Y Hilton T. Y. Hilton scored twice. We you know he's he's on average. What six seven haven't touchdown a year guy. He scored twice this week if you can go flip. Ty L. for Mike Evans sure that's the that's the recipe the the the super high. You're when you're not GonNa Steal Mike Evans for the Hollywood Brown or somebody. You're not gonNA steal them for a one-week no-name but for T. Y. Hilton a big name. That's a possibility I almost put James Connor in his My Bilo even though I'm not a believer in the steelers long-term his performance this week. There's a lot of brighter days ahead for James Connors just to look you can't give give Donald Montgomery ten targets you need exactly use Juju and you need to use connor honor and whether more teams are capable of taking those guys away like Bill Belichick. I doubt it I doubt it and and so just utilization wise that makes sense follow us on twitter at the the F. F. ballers Jason just past one hundred thousand francs relations this morning. Did it fell. Mike is at F F hit man. I'm at Andy Holloway and the show like I said at the F. F. Ballers on Youtube Ron Patriots joined the foot dot com. We encourage you to join our fantasy. Football community has been any very very fun. Ryan over the last four plus years I'm so appreciative to all of the foot clan that have been with us throughout this ride. We love what we're we're doing and we're thankful that you guys like to show them. We're GONNA keep doing it. As far as I'm concerned we access to last night. The Saints Game was incredible. I've never seen a situation where you know do does does Shawn Watson. have this in m two throws later. It's over. The drives lives over. He's just he is so incredibly good that the pain the bears fans must feel over passing on Holmes and Watson. I mean it's just he's so good. He got sacked tin or six is the paint on like Watson feels like Watson deserves better for around him because he single not single handedly because Hopkins was was an absolute monster but Watson won that game and and then they said let's let's hit him with the briefing defense. When all the needs a field goal come on guys we need to do better while the funny thing about that? Game Amen I heard it argued on Sirius. Xm Fancies Radio this morning was that an argument could be made that it would have been better for Houston to miss the extra point than to make it because if you missed it the BR they're driven back there at the twenty-five they're not they don't have the imminence to drive down the field onto throws and kick a field goal game probably goes to overtime. You're not putting that it's just a funny argument to think about because I think it might be right. I don't think the saints would have done that. I don't think the saints I do not think that they kick that field goal in a neutral game script because uses more risk just much more risk overtime. You're at home win the game I I it's funny but it was an incredible bogging unbelievable. It was fantastic. The the big the thing that was interesting to me. Was it not so much interesting but for Alvin Kamara what the actual workload he got was incredible. He was on the field a ton. He is going to be an absolute beast. There are three players this this weekend that I thought eyeball test like when you use your use the film to guide you three he player. I'm not counting. saquon steak always looks incredible he would be the the fourth Galvin Cook looked incredible this weekend cowboys in general especially Dak Doc Prescott and then Alvin Kamara I every single timing touch the ball last night. I thought he was going to go seventy five to the house. Every single an incredible balance thirteen for ninety eighty seven seven receptions. He was a beast latavius. Murray's only had six total carries. He did have the big touchdown run that will distort the Narrative Alvin community will the guy he's the rb one and two sure and then on the other side of the ball. Carlos Hyde started the game all all the Duke Johnson troopers were out there. They were bare chested. They were painted up and then Carlos Hyde came came onto the field old eight point three a carrying yeah. I was GONNA say. He didn't look slower bad. He actually looked pretty decent out there but we you know we said this could happen. I mean we we gave shout outs to Alfred Blue of saying. Don't be shocked if Carlos I'd comes in and gets the workload. Can you trust either of these players. Only ten carries for Carlo Carlos Side Yeah. He was super efficient. I'M NOT GONNA count on it every week. Nine Carrie Johnson I'm fine do Johnson as a flex I anchor because he's he got about the same amount of Carey's and he had four receptions options and that's going to keep happening with with Shawn Watson running for his life. You know it's GonNa take time apparently for Laremy Tunsil to block somebody. It was a bad bad night for him. I loved the tweet you don't spell turnstyle without Tunsil. Oh Pa he he gave up a huge sack on the biggest play the game you do consistently instantly beat all night but it will get better for that offensive line slightly at least and he gets acclimated. It was just an awesome game and they was capped off of course with with a boom boom. I mean unbelievable yeah you you. You called our man. I mean the maximal it word of research in knowing that will lots was going to be the boom boom we it was ironclad locked and loaded well. It is absolutely right broncos raiders. It's difficult to watch vacco play football six point three per attempt last night he already was at the NFL the low six point four over the last few years the broncos the raiders the raiders look good. The raiders have a running jar. Josh Jacobs twenty-three three for eighty five two touchdowns. They have a wide receiver ENTIRA. Williams six per one five and one an path is cleaned for him and they have tight in. Oh goo Google goodness dairy were if you were not on twitter last night you missed out. I was hyped be out of my mind for Darren Waller just immediately and it was you didn't have to wait. That's what was so fantastic about it. The game starts and before you know it he's he's two for thirty five or whatever he he was at. He was heavily involved he was he played every single snap of the game. They're lining up in the slot lining up out wide. Yes the targets are short..
