Will Alvin Bragg Try to Arrest Donald Trump at All?

"Don't think this is going to happen that the district attorney Alvin Bragg in New York City is not going to arrest Donald John Trump. I think that he sees the writing on the wall here. Now, yesterday, a letter serviced. That seems to indicate that Donald Trump was not involved in the hush money payment to stormy Daniels. And this letter, it's pretty condemning. And this could be one of the reasons why the grand jury has not been meeting yesterday's proceedings were canceled. Today's proceedings canceled again. There's word that the district attorney may call the grand jury bank for, but not because of Donald Trump. As a matter of fact, the reporting of NBC News says that they may not even address the Trump issue until next Monday. But I think what's happened here is that team Trump has been pretty masterful at playing all of this out. They had heard the rumblings and they got out ahead of the story. But the reality here is that Michael Cohen, in this letter, it's pretty evident that he had everything to do with this and Donald Trump had nothing to do with the hush money payment made to one stormy Daniels. I want to

Caller Claims a Vice President Can De-Classify Documents

"I just wanted to point out because I know that you are so you care a lot about getting things right. And I just wanted to point out that the vice president does have the authority to declassify information. Where are you getting your information? Because you're the only person in America who is saying this. Well, it's from executive order one three 5 two 6 of December 29th, 2009. I just Googled Ken vice president B classified documents. They can't. They can not do that. I'm not sure what executive I'm telling you, Jenny. They can not. So you're saying you're saying the federal government is wrong, you're saying Donald John Trump is wrong. You're saying Mike Pence is wrong? I'm just saying that based on this executive order and the analysis done by Washington Post and New York magazine. Liberal organization, liberal. USA Today. Well, I'm just, I understand that. Those are liberal leaning organizations. I get that. But they can't falsify what an executive order says. Jenny, I am telling you, the vice president of the United States can not declassify information. That is only allowed, and by the way, that is not an executive order, this is the presidential records act. It only allows for the president. I don't care. It could be from, it could be from 1799, Jenny, I'm just saying. The presidential records act specifically says only the president of the United States has the authority to declassify. Okay. I would just encourage you to take a look at it.

"Say what you want to about Donald John Trump, but he was our peacetime president. He did not. He is the only president in modern American history that did not get the United States engaged or involved in some sort of an armed conflict. And the question at hand is whether or not the United States should be the police department of the entire world. There are a lot of people out there who believe that's what we should be doing that we should be sending these young kids off to fight some other countries wars. And I've got a problem

50- Deplatforming and Section 230

"You know there's a lot of things going on in the world but because trump is not an office. I actually don't have a good idea of what we're gonna talk about today so. Please tell me what we're gonna talk about well. We are actually an attack a bit more about trump because seems to linger here. But i thought you when i would talk about that. Subject of d platforming. Oh okay. that's interesting all right. So on tuesday february ninth. Trump's second impeachment trial began the senate. I decided fifty six to forty four. Vote that a former president can in fact stand trial for impeachment even after having left office and that trial move very quickly house. Impeach managers who serve as the prosecution team showed us some dramatic images and videos of what happened on january six when trump supporters attacked the capital and delayed congress's certification of the election. Remember there was just one single charge or article of impeachment against trump and that was for inciting insurrection. Representative jamie raskin was the lead manager and in his closing argument. He said it's now clear beyond doubt that trump supported the actions of the mob. And so he must be convicted. It's that simple. He was not. The trial ended on saturday february thirteenth now. A majority of the senate did vote to convict trump including seven republican senators. But the fifty seven to forty three vote. Fell short of what the constitution requires. And that's a two-thirds majority are fifty seven. The nays are forty. Three two thirds of the senators president not having guilty. The senate judges responded donald. John trump former president united states is not guilty as charged the article peach birth now trump was acquitted of that single charge of inciting the capital attack on january six and because of the acquit all. The senate never held a vote on disqualifying trump from office. So he's free to run for president in two thousand twenty four trump's the first president to be impeached twice and the first to be tried after leaving office and for that he makes history. But i'd like us to return to the riot at the capitol just one more time for a different perspective to look at the link between what happened in washington and what happened online. Theoretically come ready. let's do it so remember that. Many of the writers came directly from president. Trump's save america rally that began that morning on the ellipse. That's the park near the white house. And trump had addressed the crowd with some fiery language but it was elsewhere that really mattered for weeks and really for months trump had been on social media especially on twitter and facebook with false claims that there had been election fraud and that he not biden had won the election. And if you look back now you can see pretty. Clearly how much. Social media was tangled up in the events of january sixth so first barriers around the capital were breached by his supporters around one o'clock that day in about an hour later riders broke into the building and some of them started scaling.

Inside Trump’s historic second impeachment

"Thanks for joining us. They assault on. The capital was a dark day for american democracy now the abc news documentary for who shedding light on the road to insurrection and the second impeachment trial that followed with new insights from prosecutors and trump's inner circle of advisers fifty seven votes for guilty forty-three for not guilty. Donald john trump former president. United states is not guilty as charged. The article is hereby acquitted. The challenge we saw in that senate today was a cowardly group of republicans. Have no power to convict them. Disqualify a former officeholder who is now a private citizen and another sham impeachment down the drain. This was about choosing country over. Donald trump and forty three republican members chose trump a defining moment in american politics. The president of the united states impeached and acquitted for a second time. It's not just donald trump on trial. And it's this entire era of our history. It's a reckoning of. How did we get here. Who have we become. How did this happen the entire saga examined in a new. Abc news documentary for trump the reckoning it all happened here at the heart of our democracy that magnificent capitol building all within about a month. You had insurrection yet. People's storming the capital weeks after that the inauguration and then the impeachment trial is a moment of truth for america. You have the house. Democrats who are the prosecutors led by jamie raskin and his team. Our case is based on cold hard facts. He violated oath of office in the greatest breach of a presidential of in us history. The democrats are trying to make the case that everything that happened on january. Sixth is because of one man and that's donald trump. Let's start with the big lie that the election was stolen. He continued to spread the big lie. Agila way we can lose in. My opinion is massive fraud on january six. We know who lit the fuse. Donald trump told these insurrectionist to come to the capital. We fight we fight like hell and if you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore. With president trump wanted that day he simply wanted a peaceful and honest airing of the question of whether there were election irregularities in six battleground states. i know that everyone here will soon be marci over to the capitol building to peacefully and patriotically. Make your voices heard at his signal after this. We're going to walk down. And i'll be there with you. He struck a match. We're going to walk down to the capital and he aimed straight at disbelief tape. We saw the house. Managers played this thirteen minute long. Video public has not seen that the senators themselves have not seen. We know those hallways we recognize those corners. It's deeply upsetting. It is anxiety provoking. It is frightening. That awful day could have been so much worse. Multiple members of our government had near run ins with the mob. Senator mitt romney senate majority leader chuck schumer and vice president. Mike pence we saw for the first time. Security footage of mike pence being hustled out of the chamber and his family by thought of vice president. Cheney on nine eleven Being taken to the bunker under the white house to twenty four pm twelve minutes after pence's taken out of the chamber. Donald trump tweets and attack against his own vice president. He tweeted quote. Mike pence didn't have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our country and our constitution he further incites the mob against his own vice president.

He was guilty of inciting the insurrection of the capital. Seven Republicans voting with the Democrats. ABC is Terry Moran, It looks like Mitch McConnell and other Republicans. They're trying to drive Donald Trump out of the party not by voting to convict him, but by essentially accusing him holding him accountable for the ride and almost inviting local prosecutors, too. How Media Differs in Coverage of Trump Impeachment Trial

"From wnyc in new york. This is on the media. Bob garfield is away. This week. i'm brooke gladstone writing early on friday. My impeachment experienced this week was incomplete consisting of an incoherent improvisation in the first act. That's a rare. Bipartisan view and a clarion concatenation. In the second try listeners. Too often with a phrase like that. And you're asking for trouble but it's so good clarion a clear ringing stirring sound concatenation and interlocking sequence in this case in unbreakable narrative chain. Wow nd around the senate to extract a verdict of guilty. Some senators said they felt the case presented against trump built on months of his words and deeds climaxing in violent rampage. Black physical memory of trauma. Indeed the point was to convey the truth in body as well as mind and the truth is president. Trump had spent months hauling his supporters to a march on a specific day at a specific time in specific places to stop the certification. You will not be hearing extended lectures for me because our case is based on cold hard facts at trial we will prove overwhelming evidence that president trump is singularly and directly responsible for inciting the salt on the capital. They took away your vote. It's rigged that was not true. According to judge after judge the truth was exactly the opposite president. Donald john trump incited this violence. This is what the evidence has overwhelmingly shown. And we'll show in this trial. it's also the truth. There are evidence came from an impressive array of sources. fbi affidavits media reports capital. Police radio recordings along thirty second videos captured by documentary ins citizen. Journalists capitol security camera footage live streaming insurrectionists and the presentation of trump's own tweets as. They were posted during the attack to prove to at least seventeen republican senators that he had not only incited the january sixth insurrection but helped plan it they had originally planned rallies for january twenty second and january. Twenty third after the inauguration but donald trump had other plants on december nineteenth president trump tweeted his save date for january six. He told his supporters to come to dc for a big protests the day billing it as wild just days later women for america first amended their permit to hold their rally on january six. That was stacey plaskitt delegate for the united states virgin islands for the prosecution. Here's what the fbi said. And i quote other members of the group talked about things. They had done that day and they said that anyone they got their hands on they would have killed including nancy. Pelosi and that quote they would have killed vice president. Mike pence if given the chance combining cctv footage with a diagram of the capital. She showed how very close members of congress had been to the mob and they showed video of the senators themselves watching themselves evacuate including a very close. Call for senator mitt romney. I saw senator bill cassidy and important republican in this whole proceeding still as a stone except for his pen which was moving in his fingers. Josh hawley republican senator from missouri. "Out this republican over. I'm learning that's joe. You're listening to republic keeper now republic keeper with brian. Kelly show says. I don't need producer. I mean you don't have a computer program. there's some that that one that breaches worked fine kimani like the mike cool. You know what i'd need though. I don't need so much producer. I'll tell you what. I what. I need candidly As much as anything as somebody just help with infrastructure like it takes just And i'm not complaining but like the show. It's like a two to three hour process just to to take the thing in and turned into an audio file. Make the cover for it. Put it on the podcast servers mitchell. The so it'd be helper would be awesome and then some it'll happen it'll happen. I'm competent so So they they claim. The president incited a riot big charge. Let's see what evidence do they have. So here they go on. They're saying continuing on it says in the months preceding the joint session. President trump repeatedly issued false statements. Asserting that the precedent presidential election results where the product of wide spreads fraud and should not be accepted by the people or certified by state or federal officials. Oh oh right here. Repeatedly issued false statements. What do you get to do if you're the guy who's being accused of that you get demonstrate that your statements weren't false. Don't you demonstrate that you didn't make false statements. Then they went on and says they then he reiterated false claims again. They've now they've doubled down. They've doubled down on their stupid because they know some of them at least know that the election was stolen or that it was. There are enough questions that it warrants investigation. Let's say it that way. I don't know what was stolen to you. I know that there are a lot of questions. And the gateway pundit. I think has some video. That's coming out today Can't wait to see it. I think it'd be released probably during the show. So trump says if we won this election we wanna landslide. They said that's a false claim. Well if he won by a landslide and he can demonstrate it. Don't think they want that. They said if you don't fight like hell you're not gonna have a country anymore and you know that's supposedly incitement while i'll tell you what the idea you gotta fight fight fight that's that's standard stump speech for anybody everybody forever and it's bologna and everybody knows it. There's no it's not complicated right. That's not complicated. And that's the entire complaint. They also complain about this. He said Brand burger to find an votes to overturn the election. And that's it that's it so the president's attorneys responded came. Here is the response from the president attorneys and again. I wanna point out that. They're they're. His attorneys are criminal. Defense and racketeering attorneys. They're not constitutional law tourneys his first legal team. The jinnah ellis are rudy. Giuliani crap show. That should have resulted in the all. The votes being properly counted that should have resulted in that was based on. We're gonna these states to act and we're gonna get supreme court to act and they thought that they would be compelled to that. The courts would have to do their thing. they didn't want to touch fraud rudy. Even when into court in pennsylvania said no. We're not alleging fraud. Okay and. I don't know that there's fraud. I just know this innocent people. Don't hide stuff and some people are motivated to hide stuff and the way. The mira county people are acting. Everybody seems to be resistant to inspection and romans thirteen. I say it all the time. Romans thirteen says rulers are not a terror to good works. If you're doing the right thing you never have to be afraid of anybody looking at what you're doing you don't have to be afraid of an audit if if you're paying your taxes you had to rent an audit if you're not paying your taxes it's a hassle but you don't have to fear it okay. So the attorneys. Say to the honorable members of the senate. Now notice this. This is i noticed right off the bat they're not addressing the house the houses in irrelevancy at this point they're addressing the senate came now The forty fifth president. United states donald. John trump through is a council. Bruce casteran david sean. Here by response respectfully represents eight points that they respond with okay and we're going to go through them in exam not in super detail because it'll be too deep and it's to lease and it gets boring and you don't wanna be read two but here's the first the first point is this that You can't impeach trump because he's a private citizen that's rule number one point number one can impeach trump because he's a private citizen. Okay point number two okay. They say that admitted part denied and part denies not relevant so this is further section. Three fourteen of the constitution runs any persons engaged. Insurrection there the charges. They made in their impeachment. Right over here. it's They put that right in their charge. Here right it was yeah. Anybody engaged insurrection. Rebellion can't hold off their dressing the charge the impeachment and they're saying here that It's admitted that the that the constitution says.

And it was all about new programs and the new positioning, developing and etcetera, etcetera, and I really want to pet people like Tom House there on the fact that are asking those tough questions, he said. When do you foresee the middle school and high school opening up? We're not seeing any information on that. I'd like to make sure or people are pushing like that. Show your work. We had an article yesterday and it was funny. Somebody actually the head. Somebody sent it to me. The article that we talked about from Channel five talking about the the data that was coming back of student learning and how the grades were falling. And in the end of that, let me see if I can miss it. If I can find it here. They ended up actually changing. They end up changing the headline. Oh, here it is. Yeah, I got it. So first, it was a distance Learning sees grades Drop mental health come to forefront of Minnesota schools. We talked about this yesterday. The articles filled with all the ways of the school district for failing a distance learning. Then they try to find this little nugget of positivity. Where apparently kids air learning great. House delivers Trump impeachment article to Senate, setting stage for trial

"The second impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump is underway after House managers delivered the article of impeachment to the U. S Senate Monday evening, charging him with incitement of insurrection over the deadly attack on the U. S. Capitol, Donald John Trump engaged in high crimes and misdemeanors. By inciting violence against the government of the United States. Maryland Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin serving his house impeachment manager and reading the charge on the Senate floor, But the trial won't begin in earnest for another few weeks, a pause allowing more time for preparation. Some Republicans say it shouldn't be happening at all. Now that he's out of office. This can happen. Anytime of political party has a majority. And there's no time limit. There's no statute of limitations. That would mean that the new precedent set is that next time Republicans were in power they could reach back and impeach a former Democratic president, Texas Senator John Cornyn, also taking issue with the push to prevent Trump from ever seeking office again if convicted by the Senate. But Democrats say the former president must be held accountable and the trial will move forward even is President Biden tries to accelerate the fight against Cove it and find common ground on more covert relief open to changes in his proposed package. I prefer these things to be bipartisan, because I'm trying to generate some Census and take sort of the How can I say it vitriol out of all of this, But he's already suggesting that just because of Bill passes along party lines doesn't mean there isn't unity. In addition to being a source of friction, the impeachment trial will take time and conviction would take much more than a party line vote in the divided chamber days after January. 6th. It did look like there was no mentum. Among Republican senators to convict President Trump. John Roberts is co anchor of America reports on the Fox News Channel. The White House was concerned that the numbers could be high enough for their actually to be a conviction. Which would have meant that 17 Republican senators would have had to vote in favor of convicting President Trump. But since then, the mo mentum toward a conviction among Republicans has waned to a large degree, and now the momentum is actually swinging the other way. Pendulum has now moved toward declaring this process to be unconstitutional. This idea of holding a Senate trial for a president who is no longer in office and adding to that is this idea that the chief justice of the Supreme Court, John Roberts, will no longer be presiding over the trial that will now fall to the Senate. President Pro TEM Senator Pat Leahy from Vermont, all of which taken together adds to this growing idea in the Republican Party that this is an illegitimate process that this is being done on Lee for political reasons. It's on Lee being done to punish President Trump and really doesn't hold any validity in terms of whether or not President Trump will continue to hold office. What about the big picture here? And the political calculus for Mitch McConnell, who's now the Senate minority leader again? Um, because some analysts have pointed out that he seems to be treating this impeachment differently than the last one. You know, as if he feels it's more credible or at least that's how it seemed initially. Um are they reading too much into that? Or is he you know, does he have sort of an ulterior? Agenda here. Mitch McConnell was going further than I've ever seen him before, in terms of what might happen if there were to be a in impeachment trial in the Senate, suggesting that he was really trying to make a break and President Trump But in the days that followed that, really now, the weeks that followed that McConnell seems to be taking a different tack. I have been told by sources in Congress that McConnell, Maybe one of the people whose coalescing around this idea that this is impeachment trial is not constitutional. I don't want to say that he thinks it's a legitimate but not constitutional, and that the president has already left office. I think there's been a bit of a change in position for Mitch McConnell. What about pressure on the new president to sort of not interfere and let this trial happen? However, the Senate wants that to happen. Because it's clearly been at least slow down portions of his agenda just as he's trying to do as much as he can as fast as he can. Right. There's no question that a Senate trial Is going to affect Joe Biden's agenda and how quickly he gets his confirmations die. How quickly he could get some of his signature legislation through that, said Joe Biden is a you know an alumnus understand it. He knows that the Senate Act is an independent body. It's been said that there are 100 presidents that inhabit the Senate. I mean, clearly they are of their own minds. So for a president to say, Well, this is how I think the Senate should do. It is not gonna fly very well on Capitol Hill. So is a student as an alumnus. Understand it. Biden. I think his wisely stepping back to say, Look, this is your deal. You handle it. You handle it The way you will atone east in the public statements. I wouldn't be surprised if behind the scenes in private. He is raising some concerns about what might happen in the next few weeks in the Senate, but but clearly he's he's taking a step back to say. San. It's an independent body. I'm not about to tell them what to do, because if he were, he would likely get some blowback from them, and he definitely needs to send it if he wants to get his agenda troop I know you've covered the White House for a long time help big of a contrast is the start of this administration compared to the start of the Trump administration. Yeah, it's markedly different from from from out of the gate with the Trump administration. We were going 100 Miles an hour on the roller coaster and that never stopped. Even if you look to the very first briefing was Sean Spicer, where Spicer came out and and ripped the press for allegedly lying about the numbers of people who went to the inauguration all the way up until the last press conference from Keighley back in it, they were contentious, combative affairs. That really sort of was the hallmark of the Trump administration that it was a contentious, combative administration. This administration is much more located. Briefings are cordial. I don't want to say they're collegial, but they're definitely cordial, even though I think Jen Psaki is getting some more pointed questions, and she wasn't the first couple of great things, and I think that that's the way that this administration is going to progress. It will be a kind of a Let's get business done type of administration, as opposed to this grand show that President Trump in that shed, though I think that Joe Biden does face some headwinds in terms of getting his agenda through because he is beset with a number of different crises, and now he owns them. He's the president.

Schumer agrees to two-week delay of Trump's impeachment trial Senate Majority Leader

"Now former President Donald Trump will happen. On Monday, The U. S House of Representatives will formerly send the one article it passed over to the U. S. Senate. Donald Trump is accused of inciting an insurrection following the attack on the U. S. Capitol building. January 6th while Congress was counting the electoral College votes certifying Joe Biden's victory is president today, the Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer. Discussed that trial. The Senate will also conduct a second impeachment trial for Donald Trump. I've been speaking to the Republican leader about the timing and duration of the trial, but make no mistake, a trial will be held in the United States Senate and there will be a vote whether to convict the president. I've spoken to Speaker Pelosi, who informed me that the articles will be delivered to the Senate on Monday. Now I've heard some of my Republican colleagues. You argue that this trial would be unconstitutional because Donald Trump is no longer in office, An argument that has been roundly repudiated, debunked by hundreds of constitutional scholars left right and center and defies basic common sense. It makes no sense whatsoever that a president or any official could commit a heinous crime against our country and then be permitted to resign, so is to avoid accountability and vote to dispose. Are them from future office makes no sense. Regardless, the purveyors of this unusual argument are trying to delay the inevitable. The fact is, the House will deliver the article of impeachment to the Senate. The Senate will conduct a trial of the impeachment of Donald Trump. It will be a full trial. It will be a fair trial. But make no mistake. There will be a trial and when that trial ends, senators will have to decide. All right, if they believe Donald John Donald John Trump incited the erection Insurrection against the United States Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Democrat from New York today on the Senate floor. Impeachment trial rules require the Senate to meet the day after the article of impeachment is received it 1 P.m. Eastern to begin the trial. But negotiations are underway for perhaps doing it in a different time, a different schedule. The Senate minority leader, Republican Mitch McConnell, from Kentucky, has been calling for the trial to begin not next week. But the week after seven McConnell did so again today. Yesterday also shared a proposal for the pre trial steps in the Senate impeachment process. It appears to be headed our way and it's I understand it must be heading away Monday. Senate rules of the article arrives. We've started trial right then this impeachment began when unprecedented, like fast and minimal process over in the House. The sequel cannot be an insufficient Senate process that denies former president Trump his due process or dead. Images, the Senate or the presidency itself. Senate Republicans strong and believe we need a full and fair process where the former president can mount a defense and the Senate can properly consider the factual, legal and constitutional questions at stake. For that reason, we suggest the House transmit this article next Thursday, but that apparently going to be next Monday and former president It's answer and the House pre trial brief. I suggested we do on February 4th and the former president's pre trial briefly do I suggested on February 11? That timeline would have provided the Senate from March 4 time before we step up fully into the unknown of a trial, which by the way, would have been a substantial benefit. The incoming administration allowed them to get more of their Cabinet. Confirmed which we're cooperating as best we can to expedite Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in a letter to fellow Democratic House members, writes, the House has been respectful of the Senate's constitutional power over the trial and always attentive to the fairness of the process. When the article of impeachment is transmitted to the Senate, the former president will have had nearly two weeks since we passed the article. It's President Trump's last full day in office at noon on Wednesday, Joe Biden will take over In one last breach with tradition, Mr Trump won't be there, and he's certainly turned down the volume during his final hours in power. He's being deprived of the megaphone, which he used to fire up his base, Twitter. Little is known about what he's doing. He was at the press club, talking about his affinity for Twitter, and the press was still laughing along with him. Then they hadn't decided to become a gang of bloodthirsty jackals speaking to slake their thirst Which is what they are now happy Friday to you and welcome again Way remain at 8886309625 and the Democrat Party remains opposed to free speech rights in the United States of America. The left is coming for your rights. Remember Normal way have remember normal shirts and mugs on the Chris Plante store yet do we have those yet? I don't think we do. We've been talking about it for a while. We're going to have them and we should have. The left is coming for your rights. Since now, you know, they're gonna have the house. The Senate in the White House. Can't be good. Not gonna be good at all. Not good. Not good. Not gonna like it Not gonna have it. Telling you telling you the you know, let's get into some freedom of speech stuff because I like freedom of speech. I'm an American and I recognized the importance of preserving rights. Not just for me, but for everyone. You know, a great old American axiom used to be. I may disagree with what you have to stay. But I will fight to the death for your right to say it. You're not going to find a Democrat in America today that would agree with that statement. And honestly, when it comes to the left, you know, I might argue mildly gently in favor of their free speech rights, but knowing that they would savage mine makes me less inclined to support their free speech rights. Specifically, anyway, in the abstract and the general. Certainly I support everyone's right to free speech, freedom of speech and freedom of reach, which includes Twitter and so on. But the Democrats they do not believe in free speech. For others they are. They're not liberals. They're leftists completely different again. Driving around downtown D C yesterday reminded both of us of Buenos Arias, Argentina. He has Washington D. C is really no longer a first World City thanks to the left. It's not because of left last Wednesday. Also, we become an armed camp a something of a police state. "Okay so like i said we have congressman castro's in d. c. The reason why. I wanted to bring him on it actually. I wanted to talk to him at the start of the joe biden transition and then the capital attack happen and then i found out during this whole impeachment proceeding that. He was one of the nine impeachment. Manager's name by speaker of the house. Nancy pelosi and i said i gotta talk to representative castro who represents the twentieth congressional district in texas and on wednesday before talked to him. He was on the floor of the house during the second impeachment. Vote and this is what he said. Donald trump is the most dangerous man to ever occupy the oval office. I wanna take you back one week ago. Today when people were barging through these doors breaking the windows with weapons armed pipebombs coming here to harm all of you to harm the speaker to harm the senate. Let me ask you a question. What do you think they would have done if they had gotten in. What do you think they would have done to you. And who you think sent them here. The most dangerous man to ever occupy the oval office if inciting a deadly insurrection is not enough to get a president impeached. Then what is all of us. Must answer that question today. The constitution requires us to impeach and remove. Donald john trump. So here is the conversation that i had on wednesday evening literally about fifteen minutes after the house of representatives voted to impeach donald trump for the second time congressman castro was in his office in dc. And i was in my latino rebels studio in an undisclosed location. So here's the conversation. First of all thank you so much for saying yes to this. I'm honored that you said. I'm talking to julio before anybody so that means a lot all right so here. We go representative castro. Were talking literally right after the vote to impeach. Donald trump for the second time happened before we get into the events of this wednesday. Can you talk to me about the events of last wednesday and what. It really meant being there. Because i honestly feel congressman. That people are starting to forget what's happening and it's only been a week. Can you tell me what went on. Since the election for weeks months actually donald trump had been saying that he won the election and that it was stolen from him and that he wanted landslide and finally asked his supporters to come to washington on january six and the president held a rally and he repeated those claims about this idea that he was denied a second term in the presidency. And of course these are supporters who were die hard supporters of donald trump. So the idea to them that the guy that they trust is saying these democrats the election from me that incited them to march to the capital and for some of them to become violent and engage in an insurrection. Attempted coup at the united states capitol takeover the senate floor and try to make their way into the house chamber and so it was very scary and intense period. I was in my office in the rayburn building and There were in the halls in the tunnels police officers. Who were frantic. Who were asking everybody to lockdown and shelter in place because the security has been breached by that point and it turns out but it was actually even worse than we imagine. People were armed. Some of them had arms. Five people lost their lives that day. It so this will go down as an ugly tragic and sad moment in american democracy in american history.

How Do Democrats React To Biden Winning The Presidency?

"In republican circles in washington. Dc the scrambled for the lifeboats appears to be underway as it becomes clearer that the ss trump is holed below the waterline monday. The electoral college did as instructed by voters last month and formally anointed joe biden as the president elect following the reluctance of an assortment of chuckling judges to hear any trump's lawsuits. The jig would appear to be up a now. Senate majority leader mitch. Mcconnell has often his grudging. Congratulations to the incoming forty-six president on joined with more on this by scott lucas professor of us. Politics at the university of birmingham scott. First of all to senator mcconnell's concessions slash congratulations. How big a deal is that. It's a big deal in the immediate term because it finally tips off that the republican heavyweights in washington are going to accept a president-elect biden now there will be a few house republicans who i think. Make a couple of false on january six which is when you have the formal congressional confirmation of the electoral college vote but by but mcconnell action only put out a statement yesterday. He sent his jeopardy john tune around to legislators to say that that house rebellion amongst republicans would not be very welcome. So i think the immediate issue is slow. Joe biden comes in as the forty six american president but there were onto the next two issues and one of those is whether mcconnell will work with the biden administration or just keep trying to obstruct it and then perhaps the broader issue at least for the republican party is that even if donald trump is water president. He may not be ready to cancel the reality. Tv show yet. So how does the gop try to count. Try to deal with an insurgent trumpism trying to take over the circus. Being mcconnell's acknowledgement is of course roughly the equivalent of admitting that the sun is going to come up tomorrow morning at eight hundred knowledge of reality but how much political calculation is mcconnell. Still making their because ridiculous. Though it is to even stated out loud feels we. There will be now a not insignificant number of trump voters american citizens who feel like senator mcconnell ease in on the plot. It's already out there. I mean donald trump was on twitter. Re tweeting and tweeting messages. Yesterday that mcconnell had sold him out and a very hard right polemicist information free performances. Still influential mark. Levin was calling last night for the resignation of mcconnell his replacement by someone more appropriate but becomes been around for decades. And he's pretty sharp. He's carried water for trump for almost four years. He no longer is facing that issue carrying water for trump facing that issue of word as the gop. Go nuts nuts andrew. We looked at another signal from yesterday after weeks. Indeed months of holding up a corona virus stimulus bill mcconnell was finally discussing it with leading republicans and democrats like the house speaker. Nancy pelosi in other words. We may get a deal by the end of this week. Which would be bipartisan. Which would be a stimulus deal in which neither side gets every thing at wants but it's actually a sign of cooperation now. We'll mcconnell can do that through the spring or will he as he did with the obama administration only a few years ago. Try to block it at every turn. I think that's the big immediate question. In washington even as the republicans try to grapple with what their identity is not post trump but still in the midst of trump. i mean. How difficult is that going to make life full mcconnell and what we might still think of as mainstream republicans in the mean all political parties have a lunatic fringe. That's pretty much on avoidable. But the republican party has been now more or less entirely captured by this poll off. The poll shows that a heavy majority of republican. Voters believed that last month presidential election was rigged despite the fact that not one shred of evidence for this assertion has been presented. Yeah but andrew. I think working at two levels in this new form of twenty-first-century politics and we're not sure if one triumphs or were not sure even if they coexist with each other in some strange political fantasy world and by that i mean what are they mitch. Mcconnell's looking at is you looking at the day to day workings of washington and that is donald trump doesn't have that many troops in the senate. Donald trump doesn't have anybody in the agencies because they all hate him. Donald trump does have sung trump est in the house The mcconnell thinks. Look you know i can deal with those folks and i think in normal times he could can mcconnell deal where the trumpster strongest however which is in this world of the airwaves. The hard right attack These aren't news companies. These are basically propaganda. L. newsmax breitbart and even most of fox. You know kim mcconnell actually deal with that media invective. it's become date after day after day. Which will say if he deals with democrats he sold out. And what if we get the spanner in the works and it may be sooner rather than later that trump says hey guys. I'm running for president in two thousand twenty four and he tries to dominate the new cycle with the day-to-day spectacle of. What's donald going. Do next i. I still think that the idea of a trump is takeover. The republican party is probably not there. But i do think. The trump insurgency at the level of the day to day chatter is still alive because again quick reminder more than half of republicans fifty four percent said in a recent poll that their favorite candidate for twenty twenty four donald. John trump. Well on that happy thought. How big a thing is it going to be. If on january twentieth president trump declines to turn up to watch biden be inaugurated as his successor and perhaps even tries to stage some sort of rival event. Well it'll be as big an event as the media makes it and here you know. The media doesn't make the news but it's got a role to play. It's been a part of the problem in the united states. It's part of the most critical point for america right now since. Nineteen forty five if the media gives attention to trump which tries to override or at least tries to rival. The inauguration play into his hands if the media effectively ignores trump which is a possibility. Believe it or not it just keeps focused on the inauguration and keeps focused on the business to be done in a pandemic in which one of the three hundred thousand americans died. Look trump only only gets spread his particular type of political whether you call it snake oil or poison. If someone's there to buy it is the media doesn't buy it snake oil salesman. You got nowhere to go
