Congressional Republicans are in an uproar over the search of president Trump's home this week, and some say this is only strengthening his desire to run again for The White House. Mitchell Miller is on Capitol Hill. South Carolina senator Lindsey Graham shares the concerns of other Republicans. If you're a Republican conservative and you hear the FBI is going after Trump again, it sounds alarm bells. House Republicans are pressing for briefings from the FBI and raising the possibility of future investigations if they retake the house in the midterm elections. Graham has spoken with former president Trump this week and had this to say about his plans for 2024. The one thing I can tell you is that I believed he was going to run before. I'm as stronger in my belief now. One of the big political questions will Donald Trump move up and announcement before November. On Capitol Hill, Mitchell Miller, WTO. Eric Trump: When Will Enough Be Enough?

"For example, last night on Sean Hannity's show on Fox News channel, president Trump's son Eric was with the 45th president in New York City. In fact, it was Eric who got the call that there's an FBI guy with a machine gun at the gate of Mar-a-Lago. There are 30 FBI agents. They've just cracked into a safe that it turns out was allegedly empty and they're carting away boxes and boxes of documents. And I wanted to pay close attention to what Eric Trump had to say to Sean last night on Fox News channel. What could they possibly think existed? Inside of Mar-a-Lago in a box that was taken from The White House that was so damaging that the FBI director and the attorney general of the United States would have to raid a former president's residence and grab everything out of there because that doesn't make sense. What could what secret document could possibly rise to that level? I don't know, they'll probably find a note for me telling him how proud I am of him and what a great job he was doing as president. They might find some pictures of my kids, maybe some nice headlines, maybe a nice note from you Sean. It's insane. How many times can you cry wolf? I mean, the FBI dragged this whole country through hell for three years based on lies and deceit and dirty dossiers and fisa warrants and everything else, right? And everything proved to be incorrect, fraudulent, made up and absolute sham, they dragged this country through hell, and here they are again, rating the guy's house. I mean, when do you give up? When do you say enough's enough?

"First of all, it is as un American as it gets. Yeah, I mean, this makes George the third look like a nice guy. This is astonishing because George the third was ruling colonists, okay? There was no Declaration of Independence. There was no constitution. So what he did, as long as it was, you have some context. But when you have this done by government agencies, in a country that is free that has a constitution, has Declaration of Independence. It ought to be astonishing. If you're not astonished by it, it means you're ignorant of what America is, who we are, what liberty is and it's why I talk about it. It's why I wrote my book is my book if you can keep it because we need to understand what it means to govern ourselves and we need to know that when something like this happens, this is unprecedented. This is unprecedented. This amounts to an act of war against we the people. The people that elected Donald Trump, we've been slapped in the face a thousand times January 6th, over and over and over again, the way we the people who elected him, I believe twice, not once, have been slapped in the face and told we've been told shut up, do as you're told, you don't do that in a free country. And if you try to do that, you reveal yourself to be the enemies of liberty. And so what happened yesterday was it was like the Boston massacre. It's like when you say, okay, now it's on. Now it's on. What you have done reveals your desperation. It feels you don't care about the rule of law. You don't care about we the people, the American people, you have disdain for the people who are those who govern this country. We the people you have disdain for the citizens of America by behaving this way because we know what are they going to find on Donald Trump. They're trying to smear him so badly that he's politically crippled is what they think. But they're doing just the opposite. This is going to backfire as dramatically as anything in backfire. We've got way more time because I want to cover all this stuff. Yeah. No joke. You had a dream last night. You don't have dreams like this. No, I don't. And before I get into that, if Donald Trump is not on every network today, talking about what happened. If they don't allow Donald Trump and I'm talking to you Fox on to say what happened personally, that tells you everything you need to know. You already knew this about the media. But that tells you everything you know. They won't even go to the man himself. They won't let them on. Now, this is going to be a second American Revolution, not with guns. Not with guns, but this is the second American Revolution where we the people are going to stand up. We're going to say enough. Now, by the way, if you don't, if you say, oh, it's over, it's over. You're part of the problem. If you do not fight with every ounce that you have to stand against this, to be a poll watcher, to get involved, to get elected if you can get to, if you don't get involved now, the country will go the way of all flash, in part thanks to you..

And Republican congressman Scott Perry of Pennsylvania now says the FBI has seized his cell phone, Reuters reports as it shows a DoJ investigation of the January 6th is really heating up. U.S. president Joe Biden has signed a ratification documents to allow Finland and Sweden to join NATO and Russia has shut down the gas pipeline again UK officials saying it's planned for potential power cuts, blackouts to both industry and homes in January. It's doomsday scenario, hopes it hopes it does not have to get pled out. In San Francisco, I'm Ed Baxter. This is Bloomberg Juliet. Thank you, Ed. Well, China's consumer inflation, as we've been hearing accelerated in July to the highest level in two years joining us from our Hong Kong studio to discuss is in the current Bloomberg's chief Asia economics correspondent. So not unique with high prices in debt but how much is this going to complicate things for the PBOC that's trying to stimulate the economy? So on the headline base is a dose suggest inflation in China is accelerating Juliet. In particular what's driving up the headline number has been a big uptick in the price of food. Poor price is actually gained 20% on year and a fresh fruit and veg also up in the double digit area as well to food as big part of what's happening. And it might suggest that China's inflation is accelerating except I would point out to you that on a core basis, China's inflation actually only gained 0.8%. So on the core basis, which is really what a lot of central banks ultimately look at at strips at the price of oil and food and everything else, it's fairly modest. So I'm not sure that this will change the game that much in China. We know primarily catching himself aside, by the way, that as long as they can keep inflation say below three and a half percent and unemployment below 5 and a half percent, they can kind of nurse things along okay. So on the headline basis, yes, China's inflation is accelerating. You could say that's pointing towards global trend, but I don't see it as a game changer. Yeah, you look at the trade data that we had earlier in the week and particularly the export numbers very robust. I can't recall, I think it was 18%. Was that the gain and the so when you look at what's happening with producer prices, an increase of 4.2%. And I think it's also fair to point out that there has been a substantial pullback in the price of crude oil, probably since the survey data for the month of July was put together. So the producer price story in China is a dramatic turnaround from where we were a year ago. So today's numbers did show like you mentioned a producer prices are cooling and that's for two reasons. Number one, a base effect. It's been compared to a big surge one year ago. And number two, like you mentioned, commodity prices coming off the boil and the oil prices coming off the ball. Remember that oil actually is back to where it was before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. So all of that is landing itself towards taking pressure off, China's factory cost base. That would be good for their profits. And at the margins, it might sort of take pressure off the global inflation story because the Chinese factories won't be under as much pressure to lift their own prices to the global consumers. But when you take the PPI slowdown in totality in China though, it just kind of adds a picture of saying a few moments ago that, okay, you can say headline inflation is picking up, but the overall inflation story in China remains certainly relatively subdued and even somewhat subdued really. And I think that the authorities won't be too concerned about it and they will continue to top some money into the economy to keep things taking over. All right, continue to stimulate then and looking ahead as well into what kind of I guess impact we've seen from the COVID lockdowns and how much further that could complicate things too. There's no doubt that the ongoing COVID lockdowns are complicated to recover, especially on the services and the consumer side. That's one of the reasons inflation is to want subdued, Juliet. There has been clearly the export story has recovered, maybe that's a mixture of factories getting back online after the lockdowns, maybe does reflect ongoing robust global demand, but there are some signs of weakness in the numbers, but nonetheless, they're really soft part of the economy remains. The real estate sector, the consumer spending sector and the service sector and COVID zero is kind of having casting a long shadow over all of that. And obviously with the variance of omicron that we all know about, that's going to continue testing China strategy and you could argue China over the works of his lockdowns, Shanghai came out of that brutal two month lockdown. At the end of May, and perhaps China's pulling care of that. But nobody can say it out for certain. It's still a long time before the party Congress comes up in November. So if there's not a resolution to the fact that the property market is still suffering right now, sales continue to shrink. If there's not a resolution, does that mean that there is the probability that we're going to see even more of a drag when it comes to inflationary pressures on the retail level because the property market is in such Dire Straits? I don't think anybody's yet calling a bottom or a turnaround for the real estate sector. And as you say, when you consider the outside effect that has on people's sense of self worth on household net worth in terms of overall economic activity, the estimates are up to maybe around 20% of the economic activity. So if you have the housing sector in the slump that it is, which salesman continuing to be weak and anyway, the ongoing practical disruptions linked with COVID zero in terms of what that means for finishing developments and people getting out and about. Of course, that's going to continue to be a drag on the broader

Judge Who Signed Mar-a-Lago Raid Warrant Linked to Jeffrey Epstein

"From love. Breaking now on the Mike Gallagher show. So the federal magistrate judge who signed off on the search warrant at Mar-a-Lago is a Florida federal magistrate judge sources are telling the New York Post, it was judge Bruce Reinhart, judge Bruce Reinhart, who approved the warrant that enabled the FBI to raid president Trump's home. Well, guess what? Reinhardt was elevated to magistrate judge in 2018 after ten years in private practice. Months after his appointment the Miami Herald reported, he represented several of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein's clients. Oh my gosh. So get this. The judge who signed off on the search warrant according to the New York Post. Left the local U.S. attorney's office more than a decade ago to represent employees of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Months after Reinhardt's appointment, the Miami Herald reported, he had represented several of Epstein's employees in connection with the sex trafficking investigation against the financier. According to the paper, according to the Miami Herald, this judge Bruce Reinhart resigned from the South Florida U.S. attorney's office on New Year's Day 2008 and went to work for Epstein's workers the following day.

"45th president of the United States and his statement that was released on the truth social platform since he has been banned from Twitter, revealing that FBI agents had raided his home at Mar-a-Lago. He wrote, these are dark times for our nation as my beautiful home Mar-a-Lago and Palm Beach, Florida is currently under siege, raided and occupied by a large group of FBI agents. Nothing like this has ever happened to a president of the United States before. Began after I was working in cooperating with the relevant government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate. It is prosecutorial misconduct. The weaponization of the justice system and an attack by radical left Democrats who desperately don't want me to run for president in 2024, especially based on recent polls and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and conservatives in the upcoming midterm elections, such an assault could only take place in broken third world countries. Sadly, America has now become one of those countries corrupt at a level not seen before. They even broke into my safe. Tony said his hypocritical for us to be so upset about the vaccine and the vaccine injuries and all that stuff. And that Donald Trump, through operation warp speed, takes responsibility for developing the vaccine. Now, my disagreement with Tony is simple. It's that Trump didn't mandate the vaccine. That's the problem. Like if people wanted to voluntarily take a vaccine that was experimental and with knowing that it may have some issues with it and they wanted to take it anyway, then that's on you. That's just like any other vaccine. But the mandating of an experimental vaccine is a problem. And while the cameras were rolling on C-SPAN, what did he do? He looked up at that C-SPAN camera, and he put his, he put his hand in the air. With his thumb exposed, and then he did the big thumbs down. A big blank you to America. That's what he did. All I was doing was asking misses Dominic to explain her daddy's political strategy. But you see, this is what the establishment thinks about all of us. You vote for Donald Trump, you're an irredeemable deplorable. You vote for Donald Trump, you're a Neanderthal.

Liz Cheney: How Do We Call Ourselves a Nation of Laws?

"Literally said that. In this scene, this CNN CNN conversation was stunning. Listen to what she said to Cassie hunt over at CNN about prosecuting Trump for January 6th. Some have expressed concern that prosecuting former president Trump would turn him into a martyr and potentially add to his political strength with a base that's follows him pretty rapidly. Do you share that concern? Do you have any concern that a prosecution would strengthen Donald Trump's political hands? I don't think that it's appropriate to think about it that way because the question for us is, are we a nation of laws? Are we a country where no one is above the law? And what do the facts and the evidence show? And certainly, I've been very clear. I think he's guilty of the most serious dereliction of duty of any president in our nation's history. You've had a federal judge in California. Say that it's more likely than not that he and John eastman committed two crimes. So, you know, I think that we're going to continue to follow the facts. I think the Department of Justice will do that. But they have to make decisions about prosecution, understanding what it means if the facts and the evidence are there, and they decide not to prosecute how do we then call ourselves a nation of laws.

"So she rolled her eyes. She was not happy with me, but you know, I don't care. Because the truth is, is that our country can not survive if people have to bend the knee to Evers in charge politically. Right. That's not what our country is based upon. And the very people they say they're trying to help would be the worst stricken by energy crises. If the danger hoods across the entire country suddenly had no power, no heat. No furnace is working. No washers and dryers working. They would be the ones that are suffering the most. So yeah, it's so disingenuous. I know we're up here. One quick thing I'll say. Paul Pelosi and Nancy Pelosi will not have a problem heeding their homes because I'm quite sure they have a solar panel array that Paul bill with all the money that he's made over the years. And God bless him. I don't care. Do you. But the truth of the matter is that if you don't have clean and consistent energy, if you don't have cheap inconsistent energy, poor people will suffer. 100% full stop. No doubt. And congressman, I think this leads into our next topic before we let you go. I just wanted to jump into the written house trial because I think both of these things we're talking about. The energy crisis, the written as trial, it's almost like that side, the Pelosi's the Schumer's, of course, AOC and the squad, they're full of good information. It seems like they don't look at any data or facts. And we can go into COVID on this too, right? Every piece of data in this written house trial, if you watched it, if you looked at it, shows, wait a minute. This is not a race situation. This is not even a question of self defense. It was self defense. Even the witnesses for the prosecution made it out that it was a self defense case, right? So go with the energy, too. The gas prices are skyrocketing. You can't fly planes on solar energy or electric, right? Why do they not? Why do they not look at these things? And again, is it intent? Are they just playing out intelligent? What is it? I'm firmly committed that they're trying to accomplish their policy agenda. Whether it's cultural, whether it's the political culture wars we're in, in other words, economic. They're committed to accomplishing their agenda. And anything that needs to be used to accomplish the agenda will be used. That is this Kyle rittenhouse situation. Now look, I'm going to talk about a lot of people about this. You know, I got friends who were like, man, what's he doing with an AR-15? Can I show you something to be there? Where is your mom? Where's your dad? Los Angeles. All that stuff. But people have these questions. Here's the reality. The reality is, is that the prosecution, frankly, has completely overcharged the situation because they're responding to the politics that were set by a narrative from the big from big media and from the Democrats. And the narrative that they wanted to set in 2020 is that America is irredeemably racist because of Donald Trump and that's why we need Joe Biden to be president. That was the narrative. That's what they tried to set out and set in stone. And so it didn't matter what the story was. You were going to be used to push that narrative. Kyle ray house falls into that category. You got a 17 year old white kid, in Kenosha, where they haven't, where they're having rise associated with the thing with Jacob Blake and things are burning..

"The 2020 presidential election had nothing to do with Democrat policy. It was all about all about Donald Trump and them having to restore our democracy or save our democracy and have faith in our institutions or whatever nonsense that they spewed. And it was about him not having a plan on COVID-19. That was the 2020 presidential election. No more no less. Joe Biden didn't run all policies. Joe Biden barely was barely to be seen. People are waking up to now in America. They're like, oh my gosh, we elected a man who was an incompetent who doesn't know what he's doing. And when he's supposed to have a plan on COVID, the reality is all he's doing is executing the Trump plan. And he's doing a bad job at that. So that's why he has to show he's doing something. That's why he jumps to these vaccine mandates, which are unconstitutional, by the way. And so I think what the 5th circuit just did is more to come. I was actually telling the SBA administrator because she was all like when we're looking forward to the vaccine manage to help get small businesses back on their feet. And I'm like, you don't know what you're talking about. Small business owners already have a problem finding employees. These vaccine mandates are only going to make it harder for them to find employees, which is going to further hurt our economy. But when you have somebody that doesn't know economics, but he's quote unquote in charge. This is what happens. And I think the worst part congressman is, it seems like it's not just him that doesn't know economics. His whole cabinet and his whole party don't know economics, right? You hear these people and then Joel will tell you, well you guys don't understand supply chain. No, no, no. We do. You don't, and that's why we keep having gas at, you know, I was down in Florida last week. I was paying almost $4 a gallon. That's worse than New York right now. And I can't believe that all over the country. I saw California, they were almost at $7 a gallon. That's a major problem. They don't understand the economics. No, they don't. Because they don't talk to anybody about the economics. They always talk about what their plans are. Their utopian vision, Pelosi's always talking about, she's doing everything for the children, even though outside of her own grandchildren. I don't think I can't remember the last time she's actually talked to a child. She doesn't know what she's talking about. And so this is what you have a pair of Capitol Hill. These bills that they've been pushing through this Congress, there's no debate on these bills. They come out of Pelosi's office. They drop into rules. The rules committee is the size of somebody's living room. I'm not kidding. That's how small the rules committee is. And so you're sitting in somebody's living room and cameras all over the place. The votes are already pre ordained no matter what the members from the different ranking members on a Republican side actually tell the rules committee about these bills. They vote them off there. They go to the floor and they vote him off the floor. There's no debate in Washington, D.C. about these ideas. These quote unquote bills, whatever Joe Biden's plan is, which frankly isn't a plan..

"Be right back. Again, congressman Byron Donald's coming up. All right, folks, welcome back to TFD truth. We are now joined by Byron donalds. Byron donalds represents district 19 in Southwest Florida. This district includes if you don't know folks, Fort Myers, Naples, gorgeous beaches, Markle island. Byron, I have to say, you couldn't have picked a more beautiful place to represent. Not to mention, you have governor Ron DeSantis and now Florida resident Donald Trump. Welcome to TFT truth, and thank you so much for joining us. Thanks for having me on. I really appreciate it. Yeah, that's just a gorgeous place. I know you actually, you grew up in Brooklyn, is that right? Yeah. Born and raised from the New York. Wow. And then you end up going to college down in Florida and ended up saying, yeah, this place doesn't suck. I mean, look at decision really was. Like, you know, I kind of like having wide open space. Anybody that lived in New York when you understand that right open space is not a thing that comes with the territory. No. So for me, I got to Florida. And I was like, you know what? I think a mistake. It was really that simple. Well, 75 or 80° in November, December and January doesn't hurt either. Yeah, I mean, that's great stuff too. Yeah, so to leave Washington, D.C. and go back to Southwest Florida. Pretty cool, pretty cool. I like it. So again, thanks for joining us. We want to get your comments on some of the recent activity in Congress, including that impassioned speech that you had. You get so much so limited time when you get your turn, I guess. But on October 28th in front of oil industry leaders, we want to get to that because that was just I think that just you hit it out of the park and suddenly and anyone else who felt like we believe in energy and the way energy is delivered, we were all on board with you. Can you give us your thoughts though first on vaccine mandates? You faced off with Chris Cuomo on July 26th..

"An envelope. That's been handed to you. I see that as two of many interpretations that could be written. But aren't there funny. Yeah then some of it gets Almost inscrutable Particularly towards the end when you have those sort of marginal intersections in crucial intersections and you have Someone who's going to turn you off. Old exercises onto new exercise becomes a bit abstract. Yeah but is there is there meaning behind. The abstraction is only so much you can puzzle out here and you have to accept it for what it is just like you accept the balloon. Yeah i mean the same thing is true of. I bought a little city which all those years ago we have to assume that the narrator is really bought corpus christi texas and is making changes to the city. You just have to take it as it is You know there's only so much interpretive. Work can do these stories our experiences. They last for as long as we're reading and then they last beyond that say you say you were reading this for the first time and you get to the last paragraph and you discover that in fact this balloon is not any of those things that have been positive but it's this autobiographical symbol manifestation. Does that then change how. You've read everything that came before that does for me. It does at this point. It did when i. When i read it to my wife and and felt the emotion for the first time in it. I'd read it any number of times before that barthelemy was very important writer for me. When i was younger felt free. You know but when i read it this time several years ago from maria and i felt that emotion it changed the the way to the story entirely for me gave the story much more weight and much more gravity. Do you think there's any contradiction in the fact that the story insists on meaninglessness the meaninglessness of the balloon the purpose looseness of the balloon. And yet it's a story. The love story And love stories are filled with meaning. It's all about the meaning right but we get a bit of that meaning at the very end is only a short paragraph but we find meaning in that maybe we find more meaning than we do in the balloon but no. I don't really see a conflict there. I don't think i do given my life. No i i. I don't see any problem. There obviously bartha did not ever construct story in a traditional way. I mean how do you think he constructed this one. Do you think that he knew all along where it was going. Was he writing towards that ending. Barthelme writes in essay called not knowing which describes the importance and the value of not knowing that of not knowing where you're going what you're writing is against the outline that the writer fills in. I am too. It's hard to say i mean. He may not have known where he was going with this. He may not have known until he got in the end. What that in was when when you start a story do you know where ending. No no never. I mean i'm thinking of your novel. The verification est which starts with kind of scene of inflation and floating upwards and when you began that book did you know how and when these people would come down. I didn't know a bit. It took a long time to to make progress Because i didn't know. And i'd been stuck that and the beginning for a while and then i had the idea of in floating to the ceiling and that was greatly liberating but i still didn't know what it was gonna be what he was gonna do. I've never known where i was going. When i was writing. Section grab says part of why why barth is such a touch point for you. Yeah yeah yeah. The balloon is a much taught story. It's much red story at sort if you read. Only one far story in an anthology is probably the balloon right. Why do you think that is. How does it stand out from his other stories. It's accessible. i mean it's less abstract Well short to the probably homes but this is a very contained story. Know and i think it would be teachable with that ending like that you know people talk about endlessly talk about barthelme as opposed modernist or a writer of fiction. Do you buy into that kind of classification of what he does. I mean when i started reading donald karratha me. I didn't have any sense of what those things were. And i still don't a way. No i just think of him. As a great writer that's acceptable. Who has an element of play. Always always is fooling around. Yeah i just love him. Yeah that's why. I wanted to read this again after reading bottle little city if i come and do this again and read for a podcast. I'll definitely choose another reiner. I won't will. You did choose another one in the middle. You read dennis johnson right. The story work which is also a very playful and inventive story. What is it. The most attracts you to a particular story or writer A convincing world you know in bartholomew's making a world here it's new york but it's not our new york but it's a world. Dennis johnson and work makes a world. So i would say that that the concrete fully describe world or enough describe world is something that draws me in and not just a balloon drifts around. And that's all we know about it. It's got texture. It's got extent it's got borders. It can be blown about on a wind. It requires helium. It's a very to me a very concrete story. Well thank you so much. Thank you almost barthelme. "Choose a story from the magazines archives to read and discuss this month. We're going to hear the balloon by donald barthelme which was published in the new yorker in april of nineteen sixty six disability on the part of the balloon to shifted shape to change was very pleasing especially to people whose lives were rather rigidly patterned persons to whom change all the desired was not available. The balloon for the twenty two days of its existence offered the possibility in its randomness of getting lost. The story was chosen by donald antrim. The author of three novels and the story collection the emerald. Lighten the air. His memoir one friday in april a story of suicide and survival will be published this month. High donald. Hey how're you doing all right. So in one of the first podcasts in this series in two thousand seven you read and talked about a different donald barthelme story. I bought a little city. And what made you choose barth again. I loved donald barthelme for one and the balloon is one of my favorite stories of all time and seem too short to read for this. But it's not apparently I have a soft spot. Why do you think you have a soft spot. partly because donald barthelme was one of the first writers. I ever read. Who made me feel like. I wanted to be a writer. I read barth in highschool and there was some sitting on my few copies sitting on my father's shelf and i took them off took them to the beach. We lived in miami. That tom and i just couldn't be bothered while i was reading them. That just went straight to me when you when you first read them back then as a teenager and thought maybe you could write. Were you thinking he would write in a style like that. Not exactly I'm not really sure what it was. I didn't begin writing for a very long time after that. I was still reading when i was younger. I had the feeling that. I had to read everything. And before. I could right before i was allowed to write. It wasn't until i was in. My mid twenties began to write anything in earnest and with the balloon. He said it's your favorite donald barthelme story. Why is that. what is it about this one. It's a love story and for a long time reading it. I didn't really realize that because it comes so subtly at the very end of the story but not long ago i read it allowed to my wife and it really hit me that aspect of it that that fact and i had tears the emotionality. The story is intense for me. It's interesting we'll hear the story but that emotion is well. Maybe it's it's an undercurrent but it's not mentioned explicitly to last paragraph of the story. But you feel it earlier feel it earlier now know after reading it again and again and do you remember when you first read up. Oh i must have been about seventeen or eighteen. I think when. I was trying to read if i were going to be a writer. One day reading everything i could get my hands on reading gauge lawrence reading donald bortolami. Does it very different writers. Sure but you've got to do that. I think you gotta read around. Yeah well we'll talk some more after the story. And now here's donald antrim reading the balloon by donald barthelme. The balloon the balloon beginning point on fourteenth street. The exact location of which i cannot reveal expanded northward all one night while people were sleeping until it reached the park. There stopped it at dawn. The northernmost edges lay over the plaza the free hanging motion was frivolous and gentle but experiencing a faint irritation at stopping even to protect the trees and seeing no reason the balloon should not be allowed to expand upward over the parts of the city. It was already covering into the airspace to be found there. I asked the engineers to see to it. This expansion took place throughout the morning. A soft imperceptible sawing of gas through the valves. The balloon covered forty five blocks north south and in regular area east-west as many as six crosstown blocks on either side of the avenue in some places that was the situation then but it is wrong to speak of situations implying sets of circumstances leading to some resolution some escape of tension there were no situations simply the balloon hanging there muted heavy grays and browns for the most part contrasting with walnut and soft yellows a deliberate lack of finish enhanced by skillful installation gave the surface a rough forgotten quality sliding waits on the inside carefully adjusted anchored the great very shaped mass at a number of points. Now we have had a flood of original ideas on media works of singular beauty as well as significant milestones in the history of inflation. But at that moment there was only this balloon. Concrete particular hanging there. there were reactions. Some people found the balloon interesting as a response. This seemed inadequate to the immensity. Of the balloon the suddenness of its appearance over the city on the other hand in the absence of hysteria or other society induced anxiety. It must be judged to calm mature one there was a certain amount of initial argumentation about the meaning of the balloon. The subsided because we have learned not to insist on meanings and they are rarely even looked for now except in cases involving the simplest safest phenomena. It was agreed that since the meaning of the balloon could never be known absolutely extended. Discussion was pointless or at least less meaningful than the activities of those who for example hung green and blue paper lanterns. From the warm grey underside in certain streets or seize the occasion to write messages on the surface announcing their availability for the performance of unnatural acts or the availability of acquaintances daring. Children jumped especially at those points where the balloon hovered close to a building so that the gap between balloon building was a matter of a few inches or points where the balloon actually made contact exerting ever so slight pressure against the side of a building so the balloon and building seemed to unity. The upper surface was so structured that a landscape was presented. Small valleys as well as slight holes or mounds once atop the balloon a stroll was possible or even a trip from one place to another.

"Sean. You are on the show and tell us who's with you. This is the boss kenny. Hi gay ninety. You guys are white. I'm telling the audience there in white lab coats wearing. They're wearing math surgical. Assuming you can't take off your mask because you're working. That's the rule okay. And that's all we know there's a sign behind that says no eating or drinking inside. Thank there appears to be fluorescent lighting. just a little bit of a hint of a cloud picture. Deepen the background on maroon. Wall all right. What's up guys. Where are we what's happening. Yes so we're in a conference room at the innovation centre beyond me and beyond meat because there was an episode. I think in season sewers access. Like oh yeah. I pretty good all weird. A couple of shots were like. Oh man maybe that's our way in so we're list is your way in because i listen i want to. I'm glad that you will dwell. Who can't be here right now. I'm glad she organized us. Because donald and i are Are both having varying degrees of success. Getting off land animals. I am one hundred one hundred. Say ninety eight percent there. I usually have a dabble. Donald's back down to pretty much eating everything good work. I'm closer to around. You know twenty five percent. But when i you did reduce reduce points for reduction yes i will have to say and i don't think beyond even a but i will say they should be. Tell you. tell your friends in marketing. I will say this thing when my personal biggest thing when it came up to like giving up meat was all but i love cheeseburgers. That's my thing. Yeah and yeah. And i and i have to say you scientists over there have figured something out. It tastes good. What's this yeah not just not. Yeah how do you turn pee into red meat. P. protein that we're using. Oh yeah tell us about that. What's the secret. I mean you have to give us the secret ingredient. You'll probably be fine. We can stare here. But yeah i mean did down. You know what we're doing here at the innovation centres. We all come from various different scientific backgrounds. We're trying to take the knowledge that we know from all of these different areas and really understand what's going on with the animal me what's going on with our body but we can really take that science and understand you know. How do we put this ba'athist protein these minerals water kind of constructed in a clean label way so that we can kind of get a more realistic and more representative and a plant based product as the work that we're working on here and so ultimately raising a lot of clean label ingredients where trying to make sure that we can get those things process with the minimal amount of processing so that just eat Aperture time kind of controlling how we can mix all of those things together really. Were using the same equipment that you find in a kitchen. A scaled up or in any type of bread possum making assessing accurate in twisting. How we can think about it. So thinking a little outside of the box out of processes. They're usually done try and get something that's realistic. So what is it. It's wait before we go for it. So i could make. I can make beyond meat in my kitchen. I think if you look on youtube there's a lot of people try and make what we make the different levels of success. I would say but we do have some proprietary parts that really cracked down here are texture or It'd be funny if that was me. Few proprietaries names like no question. I listen i. I honestly think it tastes amazing Do how does the price point come compare because obviously that's on people's minds they go well. I'm not going to pay more for it or sure. Knowing that's something that we're working on you know for the last couple of years so it is a little bit more of a premium product right now as it stands compared to the animal There is a lot of things that we have to take into consideration there. The subsidies at the animal meat industry is from yes. The government from taxes on our scale as we as we increase you know when i started here six years ago. We were working on the original burger and We were making that in a little kitchen here in l. a. You know and of a mandate is in oregon hundreds of burgers a day and heck on a scale compared to where we're at now and the thousands of of ads for day or whatever we're their everywhere and he asks have sausages we donald and i got you guys are probably responsible because someone sent us from the motherload care package. We gotta get us. Some work is a we have then. I'm but then donald whether there was breakfast sausage there was All there's joel there were well joel. It's been a very masculine show without you. We really i'll. I'm so happy to bring my feminine energy to the podcast. We need it. But we're learning of these are telling us all about beyond donald. You had a question. Go ahead yeah. I so it really delicious. And there's some people like you order it from restaurants and they've really mastered the way in cooking it whereas like if i cook it. It's not as juicy. And you know what i mean like. It's a little bit. But it's still like i like a burger. Well done so. I don't mind a burger. That's not that you know that juicy but then you get from a restaurant and they've figured out a way to make it so it's literally like you're biting into a hamburger. What is the what is the difference. Are you guys giving people like a d a different way to cook. Like how do you cook it to make it. So it's just like a hamburger. Maybe kind of boils down to like burger like we do have some work to get it perfectly there. You tasted it. There's still work to do here to make it where we wanted to be like an animal product and replicate with animal visas. But like when you're picking a burger home if you cook that on the griddle some way you know. The the restaurants can probably do that a little bit better and they always do. He said that in the nicest way possible. He's a professional fucking chef. No actually scientist. Yeah but Yeah questions all right now listen. Impossible burger there the competitor right now. Who who's winning in the space. You guys you them from on questions. Got great question does it. I mean. I know you guys you're scientists and you're not in the fucking sales department but i wonder who's scientific point of view and really you know. This is our point of view. We're not representing anybody. Right now is we're fans of you guys van the so and we want to be on here. We can talk about this stuff. I'm you're saying do you guys as scientists take apart. The impossible burger much. Like i'm sure. The scientists had three musketeers. Might take apart the snickers and see what is in it and how they make their nougat. I think i think everybody when based industries probably taken apart everybody else's product for sure. But you know. I think the thing possibles during some great stuff and they have you know. They're pushing for the same real change that we're trying to push for sustainability affect impacting. The climate change health animal welfare. All of those things are the core of what they're trying to do this for change. Maybe the biggest difference..

We've been friends with zach for. I've been friends was act for fifteen years and our oldest is almost eight and two days ago was the first time he's taken us to disney. Let us go to disneyland with our kids. Yeah yeah no. I think sacks just kind of coming around now you know we your kids when i'm with them crannies. Hey i get it. If i didn't have kids. It's not appropriate charge people for that. We should make it a ringtone joel ringtone. You need to be on cameo. We're not to be on cameo by you know. i think it's i think we have to do just as much as act as far as meeting in the middle. Because i really. I think i'm very conscious of. If it was up to donald donald would be like well. Fuck it if we can bring our kids. We're never gonna go anywhere and i still. I still like to go places without my kids. "Atonement for me donald He magic misfits. It's kagan i've you and welcome back to tone meant for me. So i've been talking a lot about my art lately and some of the things that i work through in my designs and in my art and people who inspire me and drive me and a couple of weeks ago. I said one of the biggest prisons that i have created for myself as been trust and that is always going to be the hardest thing for me any relationship whether it be a friendship or family or romantic. But i haven't had very much opportunity and least a decade to make art. That is hot. Be and that represents me in a happy and safe space and the only well. Not the only reason but the main reason that i'm able to do that right now. Is the man that i met who i'm dating. And his name is donald. He is my biggest support right now and i don't know what i could have done without him. And if you've known me for any amount of time you'll know how difficult it is for me to hold people close to me and acknowledge that and tell other people about that Relationships to me have been super super private but also a huge mark of shame for me just because of how terrible my recent relationship then and getting myself into super awkward relationships having been abused in a romantic relationship will change you for ever and he has been so patient and kind with me that it sounds so strange to say this out loud but he makes me feel like a human being and that should be a basic. But i just discovered that i could be a human being and that could be treated like a human being and equally and fairly and that is terrifying and amazing and mysterious to me. I don't know all the time what i'm doing and i'll look at him like i'm just waiting for the other foot to drop because i am terrified and i tell them all the time that i absolutely terrified but it's also something that i don't wanna lose having lost so much in such a short period of time and having lived with nothing for so long that being given the other half of your soul is just miraculous but at the same time like what you when you need that and i don't couple months ago v was talking about who they saw for me the perfect partner and i didn't even know what i wanted. I couldn't even conceptualize what i wanted. And what they described is what i have with donald..
