"Best job. It's the best job in sports was being a starting pitcher broadcasting right. But speaking of somewhat jaded former players, Thie Yankees buried the raise in the ninth inning last night Cap by Giancarlo stands, Tower and Grand Slam, but some took issue. They seemingly innocuous steal by Glaber Torres that that occurred after the Grand Slam with the Yanks, leaving 931 of those people on the TVs. Postgame was Pedro Martinez, who went as far as to say, quote. I don't like seeing disrespectful things in the game and quote by yourselves. Stealing a base up six runs in a playoff game is disrespectful. I mean, I'm on the new school, so I love you. I'm a Cubs fan. I was I was written from against Don Zimmer. That's that's how much I love Pedro. But I mean, come on, man. Talk about disrespect. By the way, I know, I think. Look, I think there's a point where this is actually a worthy point. If if the Yankees air up 12 or 13 some obnoxious number of runs, but is that I've seen comebacks. We've all seen crazy things happen. Every advantage every run you, Khun score. We're not playing for tiddlywinks. We're not playing for pride. You're playing for a World series playing for a championship. You're playing to advance. Get out of here! Every pitch to you in the bullpen. It's game one of a Siri's Aktham throw as many pictures as you possibly can. On a stressful as much as you can. Dominate them psychologically destroy their self confidence, which there's something going on there to these two teams have been going at it. For the whole season after the stand homerun. There was an up and in pitch on the very next, and I had that I love so I like it, though, Like I want teams not to like each other. I want there to be some edginess. So sticking in that serious just a statistical anomaly from this Siri's earlier in the game, Aaron Judge homered off Blake Snell that meant his last four playoff homeruns had been against Cy Youngs, Snell,.

So I know that the Braves won the NL East. Let's see from 91. She's 05 right. So 14 consecutive. I'd like to know the years that the Jeter Yankees won the division in a row. I would imagine it started 96. I guess. 1998 06 90 70 Orioles won. The Yankees won tonight from 1998 to 2006. The Red Sox did not wanna division until 2007. It was a raisin eight. Okay, that's interesting. 98 06 So in 99 The Sox were wild card They met in the A L. C s. That was the throwing Don Zimmer down on the ground game or serious by Pedro that n 03 the Yankees with innovation and the Red Sox, the wild card they meet in the LCS. The Red Sox didn't wanna division they wanted 95 in the morning. Get in. Most of them went 12 years without winning division. But making three a L. C s is a wild card. And winning one world. "Study it looks like the White Sox are starting Doubleheader with Cardinal's great field We're going talk with got lurking in about 15 minutes as the white sacks get ready for their doubleheader. Ryan before we get a couple more callers. I want to bring up two points I wanted Before so I could get to him at least before 20 times That show's over. Go. Damn! I forgot to do this. So last night. Sousa penchants for Hayward. And frankly penchant for kept this now Josh hater was in. He's a tough lefty. I understand that So far in the game last night. Hayward and Kip has had three of the six hits the Cubs had for the night. Hayward's him better. We talked about that haters numbers. Against left handed hitters. They're hitting 1 17 against him. With a 47.9% strikeout rate. Right handed hitters are only hit 1 55 against them with a 43% strikeout rate. So it's a wash. I kind of think so. My only thing was the way Hayward's hitting and after having two hits already in the evening, I think it was two hits. Bring Susan up now. Susan drew a walk that was rated worked out. But then, frankly, was up and hipness had an R B. I single earlier, so You know, there's always mean as years ago, said Hey, that's what you do question man used to say the same thing. We make moves, you question I don't know if I was questioned those moves. What those air once if I may have just left Hayward hit And kept us the way they've all been hit so far this season. Yeah, And then we talked about Jason Kipnis having the nine pitches baton turning into an RV I situation And so he did say after the game, you know he's not questioning the managers that I don't turn down any it back. He understood the thinking behind it. But you know, some sometimes managers are going to go with statistics or matchups, even if it's a slight edge. Other times you have here you go old dog, Don Zimmer and match with your gut. You just say OK? This guy's in a little bit of a group and he's been coming through for me. Zamora veteran guy Why wouldn't let Jason Kipnis go up there and see what he can do in that situation. Right. And you know that if hater got those two out, we'd be sitting here this morning saying, Why don't you pin ship for those guys so That's what we have. We get. We get that opportunity were not the one making the decision right at that time. Yeah, Well, look, I I guess so. Steve Greenberg tweeted out, saw my first Ross's of moron common on social media. So apparently, the honeymoon is over. For some people you bring Joe Maddon, Beck. Yeah, well, you know Devon Williams, Josh hater yesterday two and 2/3 innings in relief at the end of the game, six strikeouts to walk a hit no runs. So you know the Brewers even though some of their starting pitching's not as good as they had hoped for it to be. The back end of the bullpen is pretty good now, but because those two guys went to a 2/3 we'll see if they're available today if the Cubs and birds are in another close one out at Wrigley Field, Remember a 2 21st pitch between those two was supposed to be 7 15 but storms are coming back down the hatches. It's not another day ratio, is it? Yeah. No, I don't think so. I think just rate for what I understand, and I had heard earlier in the week. They said they're not even sure it's going to be that much, so we'll see what happens if you want. Take Craig Counsell off. Just wipe out the game right now, like they did was it two years ago that they have their shopping on Michigan Avenue in the sunshine, even though they're rained out? We got a sunburn. I don't understand it there just for old time's sake. Just bang the game. Yeah, We're gonna take a quick break. We're going to have to get Scott Birkenau. We come right back. Haley inhuman right here on ESPN 1000 ESPN 1000 Chicago's home for Sports Golf Club podcast, unlike any other getting weak on the all new ESPN Chicago The ESPN.

I skip all seasons because like you said we I had about fifty dollars your bumpers in passing but I found out. Of at, six three white guys, it couldn't jump very well didn't have a long life and then basketball. What was your first contract for? well, I signed a bonus contract with Cleveland and sixty line I they gave me forty thousand dollars bonus. You know if you go sixty, one fifty. One years ago. That was a lot of money. but my first contract was for seven hundred and fifty dollars a month. For two and a half months and When they got to the big leagues might contract with seven. Thousand. Who is Alex Cintrón, the Astros hitting coach who instigated brawl with the A's?

"Brawl in baseball yesterday. Ramona Reynaud went right after Alex Cintron, who is the head coach for the Houston Astros, And this whole thing was bizarre to Maine. We know that there is a beef between the athletics and the Astros. Mike Fires used to pitch for the Astros was on the on the athletic still is on Lorraine. Oh, gets hit twice in the Siri's that the 2nd 1 I didn't see the first of the 2nd 1 was not intentional. But he was walking to first base is so John boy pretty much tryingto figure out what was going on. And I guess Laredo was trying to tell the picture had to throw the ball. Cintron asked, get suspended from saying his name correctly, If now I apologize, but the bench the hitting coach has to get suspended, has to get a lengthy suspension. Because he is basically egging on Lorraine. Oh, who's at first base? And it was gutless. What the hitting coach did he goes? Oh, yeah. You come over here You come over here. The guys 41 years old, if this is not A 60 70 80 year old heading coach. This is not who is the Mets pitching coach? That's your Phil Regan. This's not him or or the late. Great Don Zimmer with Pedro Martinez, where you see potentially an older person get thrown to the ground. That was not this. This a 41 year old yellow Nazareno basically, Tom come over and fight him, and he did the ultimate Gutless move off. I'm going to tell you to come fight me. But the minute when you take a step forward three for my players are going to step in front of me. And then I'm going to become Mr Hold me back, bro. Type of guy. That's the worst person in a fight. Someone that instigates the fight and then doesn't throw the punch and doesn't actually fight when someone comes charging at you because of you just being ridiculous in the dugout. That guy doesn't get popped if Joe Kelly gets it with what it was an eight game suspension. If this is it, the heading coach here for the Astros doesn't get At least eight games, then that's ridiculous. Albay have no clue how to figure this out. They'll mess it up. Did you agree with that? Then we have a heading coach, basically telling Laredo to come over and fight him. Or Laureano. Excuse me. To come over and fight him. And then he lets what 34 of his players take care of it that was weak. Yeah, it's weak and it's like extra dumb when the league is begging you not to have a bench clearing altercations, and then you instigate won as a coach, not even a player for seemingly I don't even understand the reason. And it even begins. So, yeah, you would think he's going to be in big, big trouble, too. We

That s s under categories. That's under stupid bets. Yeah, yeah. Let's talk to this fella about it. Former player for your Cincinnati Reds. Scott Service. How are you doing? Great buddy. What? What? So what did you do Wood me, but actually back in 86 rookie ball. Nobody's making money. So we've got seven guys living in the house or by $150 a month. Anyway, we're playing poker. And everybody started, like 25 $30. Whatever. Anyway, I'm not gonna say a full name, but Steve runs out of money and he dips. Everybody dip Copenhagen, he said. I'll tell you what, for 75 bucks you can pass around the table here in had a Dixie Cup full of 75 bucks well passed around the table and he chugged. It ran in the bathroom for, like, five minutes. Of course, he drank it. Copenhagen and everybody else where they want to put in there came back and grabbed the money. It's all right. Let's play cards. Five. Don't get tobacco drip it on his chin. Oh! Oh, my God, Dude, that is that's sick. But it was bad, but he did it. He actually take everybody's money if we got them playing cards, so I guess it worked out for. Yeah. He looked at it as an investment. He I'm gonna take this $75. I'm gonna turn in tow. 500. Alright. Nice hearing. You guys great. Get to hear from you, man. Thanks. That's that's that's God. Think about that. Like I said, everything has its price. But that is way high. Not 75. Straight in the spit cup. A George, How about you talking about stupid bet? Yeah, they're not made. But this is Don Zimmer. I heard Pete Rose Tell this story. Don Zimmer was with the red for a very short time in the early sixties, and if it wasn't a rookie, it was the next year, so their spring training and don Zimmer born and bred Cincinnati, Pete Rose, born and bred in Cincinnati. John take him to the race track after workouts one day on their way out of the hotel. Someone get's imara hat they get to the track. He looks at the racing form. First rate top hat. That's gotta be a sign. He puts $100 down on top hat. The win, which is a lot of money in the early sixties. A lot of them had to have a second job in the off season just to make ends meet anyway when and top hats win and top hats winning down the stretch of 51 long shot. Comes up and beat hat by a note that 50 to 1 long shot Sombrero. He says. If them is no Spanish, he would have been rich. That's pretty good that it's great, George. The takes buddy. Good stuff. Steve, Let's get you and right quick. What do you have? Hey, guys. Yeah, He used to play poker a lot between the ages of like, 17 and 31 thing I used to do I grab the car, just shuffling them playing around when we were having like a neat break or something like that. And I say yes, the next card. I'll give you 100 bucks. If you miss you owe me a dollar. I did this for 10 plus years and never lost. And I mean, I was for 10 15 but they were drinking. I could get 25 30 bucks a night. Well, one night inevitably. I guess this card. I'll give you 100 bucks. Well, they guessed it. Same spot on so I gave him 100 bucks. They will. After today. Tried again. Try it again, kid. You not a different person. Next card. I guess they guessed it exactly, But I'm not to 100 bucks say I don't do that anymore that it was all those years of wind and just playing blackjack. You connects you win win win, but eventually it all either evens out and most likely. That's one of the reasons that I haven't played in a long time is that I figure I'm one of the few people who are up, man. I'm not sure you're all right. So I'm not. I know, but I'm not. I didn't get rich from it. But as far as I know, I'm up for my career. I'm good. You want to die saying that you're up. I got get. "That's that's an all time sub name for the for the leadoff spot. I'm all about it. He has no idea what he's talking about the leadoff spot. I heard coach show wake up with cope. Dave left's our van giants. Get the win last night. Four to two over the dodgers days are always better sun, shines brighter, food tastes better. When the giants beat the dodgers, man. I don't care what the record is. It's fun to get away. Down a Los Angeles dainty overnight. Dave seven zero seven says all man running late this morning. I didn't get a chance to hear the star of the show wake up with cope. They say no seven I'll give you at the start of the show was it was screw the dodgers giants. Get a four two win. Brandon belt Mashan after a I think a bad managerial decision by by Dave Roberts. You can say it's a it's a pitch count all you want. He still went to a guy who got rocked in his first game this season, Joe Kelley throws one pitch gives up a home run to Brandon belt, if so didn't they have Don Mattingly before who really couldn't manage a major league team either around Mattingly's down at Mattingly's put in some some complaint to the league about getting some some calls reviewed are like, I don't know. Man, Magli just go away. You never want as a player Dongola in the thing. That's funny about Mattingly as I'm always wary about guys who were interviewed a bunch and never get like think about Mark Jackson. I I don't think anybody would say well, Mark Jackson was some incredible coach for the warriors. I think you have to credit Mark Jackson with. Building the foundation of defense that then Steve Kerr took over and helped helped home this team into the greatest dynasty. That is maybe ever been around one of the greatest dynasties and all pro sports, but you also could've anticipate never have anticipated that Steph curry was going to overnight almost become the greatest shooter of all time. Right. I mean, he he has the the MVP sets the three point record in the single season. And then continues to do it year after year, then he wins, a unanimous MVP. I believe that if Mark Jackson were around Steph still could have had that MVP sees right? I think that having Steve Kerr certainly made them a championship caliber team or made them a powerhouse dynasty. But you look at what Mark Jackson did. And how nobody after that is really giving them a call and said, hey, you're you're a focal point of our coaching. Search that says wonders now Joe Torry advantage. The dodgers are the the Yankees forever. Right. And and Mattingly had been his bench coach after Don Zimmer got thrown to the ground by Pedro Martinez. Is that by the way, one of the most bizarre memory? These are like photos in your head. You got Karim Garcia getting into it with whoever on the Red Sox. Then you've got Pedro Martinez throwing at dudes heads and then throwing Don Zimmer to the ground by his head. Dave dulcimer was an old man when that happened. Pedro martinez. Grabbed a senior citizen by his head and just throw him to the ground. No big deal willy nilly all part of the game of baseball. Yeah. I thought I could not believe that one. I couldn't believe that. You know, he went out there to yell at Pete. But when he hit him up side ahead like that. I mean, you know, he could hurt him pretty bad. I think he cut his head. It's not a good look on Pedro Martinez. But so after after Joe Torry decides he's not gonna manage anymore or I'm sorry when the Yankees move on from him, and he goes to the dodgers, I think Don Mattingly tried to get that that Yankee job, and they said now we're going to switch regimes were going with Joe Girardi who by the way before he signed with the Yankees had won manager of the year with the Marlins and been fired. The Marlins fired Joe Girardi after winning manager of the year, and he goes into Windsor world championship with the Yanks. So following that Mattingly goes to LA with Joe Torry. Joe Torry does managing Grady little had been there for a minute talk about guys talk about bad managers, man. Crazy. Little little goes to LA, then Tori goes to LA Mattingly. I believe was his bench coach there momentarily for the three seasons. He managed Manny would remember that was the Joe Torre era, Casey, Blake Manny Ramirez. And then after that they finally give Mattingly job and then Bruce bocce just kind of manager circles around the right calling him out for rules. He didn't know about you were a player to man, you got know your Joe Madden and you scrap a ruler. You forget a rule. I give you maybe a little bit of a break. Give you a little bit of a breather. I say, hey, dude, you didn't play in the league. He didn't play in the bigs. Whatever Don Mattingly notes, no excuse. So I'm always wary. I always question when a guy has had a coaching job. And then he's only ever hired by another really, bad organisation. Alah the Miami Marlins, Don Mattingly down there. I mean. This is a guy who when he brought him bonds as a hitting coach he was just some weird stuff going on with Don Mattingly. So always worry about managers who arc it. Looks at other from other organizations after one team gives. Him a pass seven or seven says, I would not have had I would not have something about Pedro, given the people's elbow. Tons zimmerman. Six five O don's element has a metal plate in his head from being hit by a pitch. Come on, man. And then to and I just says blanked the dodgers you'll people checking in on the the top Zimmer. Pedro Martinez fight seriously that was one of the weirdest fights. And also probably the last time the Yankee red sock rivalry was at its peak. Right. Any any Yankee Red Sox rivalry now to me pretty fabricated, right? It was back when THEO Epstein called the Yankees the evil empire. Guys. You got a two hundred million dollar payroll. You swung and missed on getting Alex Rodriguez yourselves. Have the Red Sox gotten Alex Rodriguez? I don't think there's Herlin those insults across the bowl at the Yankees. Right. He said on his death star complaining about Darth Vader. Exactly. And then he goes to Chicago. These are like cities that can spend gobs of money. He's not going to Tampa. Or I don't even know where I'll Kansas City. He's going to a city that's owned by their own by Wrigley credit. I mean, give them credit for what he's done in Chicago in Boston not to take away. But it is funny. When you're payrolls two hundred million. And you're you're taking shots at the team. That's got a three hundred come on just get some wins. And you know, maybe manage games better, Allah, Dave Roberts, four and five. Jason on the text line and says, do you think Dave Roberts is being told how to manage as a five three? Oh, sorry. Yeah. I absolutely do. But I think Dave Roberts is to a point where he says, hey, my managerial record looking pretty damn good. I got a contract extension. We've won back to back National League pennants. Clearly, there's something to be said about how this analytic stuff works. I do believe that this is a a new model of managing in that the general manager and the president this industry's Andrew Friedman down in LA helping make decisions for what. Happens on the field directly in a ball game or within the lineup. I don't know that they're calling down during the ball game. I don't think that's happening. But I think there's some back and forth that happens before the game in the managerial office and don't forget, it's not like Dave Roberts had been managing for years and years before this situation, right which I think makes this a little bit easier for dodger fans and further dodgers general to accept or maybe for Dave Roberts to accept Bruce bocce. He's been managing the old school style away for twenty years now. Right. You bring in a new manager like a Gabe Kappler like Dave Roberts. You can say you're coming in under this umbrella. Everything happens under the umbrella of the general manager and the president helped put this roster together. Help decide what the optimal lineups are. And then you go out. You execute it on the field. Now, Gabe Kappler who former ballplayer himself who was hired by the Philadelphia Phillies last year to be the face of the analytics movement in Philadelphia. They were a fun project to watch. Remember they made that mistake early on last year. We're Kappler's running guys out there who. Who had not pitched prior? They had not warmed up prior. And he said, no they did throw through prior. He's running guy south. They're getting a perk. He's he's running infielders out there to pitch saying we're going to go through through prior co with this guy who can who can pitch and play some right field. They were trying all sorts of different experiments to optimize their lineups. Then you get to the off season and two team that goes out and gives Andrew mccutchen a three year forty million dollar contract. Where by all means is the exact contract that nobody is getting in baseball a thirty plus year old player perceived to be past his prime or at the back end of his career at least for the next four to five seasons. If he plays that long. Those are not the guys who are getting forty million dollar contracts. Not when you've got young studs in the minors or guys he'd rather be giving it bats to analytically that is against the philosophy of of which direction. Major league baseball is going, but they did it because they invested in their roster the invested in depth. Now, the Bryce Harper was a little bit different. He's a unicorn, right? You go and you catch one unicorn you lot that thing up because you may not see wanna get is why they went out, and they give him thirteen years, by the way, a report on ESPN this morning that when Bryce Harper got his offer from the nationals it came in the form of an envelope. David. We're going to write down a number. We're going to slide it to you across the table. You take a look at that number Harper city look through the number two went oh, great. It's a jumping off point ten years. Three hundred. It didn't have a picture of Ed McMahon on the front you been a winner of the Pacific, whatever that publisher's clearing house over my head over my head on the Ed McMahon. You don't remember the publisher's clearinghouse? I'm out doing my God. Yeah. I guess I am old. They used to send that in the mail all the time, and you had to just go for magazines and go I can go back for like highlights. You know, what I mean in the doctor's office that's about as far back as I some goofy and gallant, maybe goofy. Does not wash his clothes before he comes in the house gallant always rubs his feet on the mat? Goofiest and gallant you at the punk ass kid. And then the the stuck up kid. All right. Let's get to this game Kappler sound though from from Sunday night. This is good stuff. Because Kappler has now done a season of the analytic style a ball. And he says as a player and as a manager. Here's what I learned. He's talking to book shall be here. Actually, this is what he learned coming into this season about managing players and their consistency. Versus just listening to computer. Would you learn from last year we were just talking off the air about maximizing lineup as opposed to or I should say maybe including or contemplating player comfort. Yep. So last year, I really utilized information. I was really interested in utilizing information sometimes a stoic way in an unemotional way this year. I think I recognized how important it is to put players in their most comfortable positions because that comfort could lead to confidence. And one thing we know is that confident baseball players are good baseball player. So although we are still going to try to get tactical advantage where we can not at the. Expensive of stripping away comfort for players. That's an extremely important thing to hear. I think listening to a guy who decided when he came in and member that's sort of the the drum. He was banging I'm going to tout the analytics I'm gonna blow that horn. And I'm going to say, hey, I'm going to be the new age manager. And he realized that he was a former player I was a little bit surprised about this. But he realized that there's a way to balance both of those things it's not all I'm gonna use the computer to put this lineup together. It's about finding consistency for God's. It's what what it's exactly what Jeremy Affeldt was saying to Murph and MAC last week about when a guy does not know. And and I'm getting used Connor Jilin Mike rita's as examples because they're the two that fit. If a guy doesn't know that he has a job or does not know if he'll be in the lineup or doesn't know what his role on the team is exactly it's a lot tougher for one of those younger guys to be successful. And be consistent. I think I think we we're taking a lot of the human element out of the game of ball..

"NFC championship art three or three zero five on Sunday. And then the pats at at the chief six forty. So that's just set up to see who's going to the Super Bowl, and we'll get into football and get into the basketball. But I wanted to start with the passing of Mel Stottlemyre. Everybody knows the basics. The one with the Mets. Path. It's every seven from blood cancer. Perhaps looking at some eleven years pinstripe twenty game winner three years. Five time all star sixty five league eighteen complete games. Two hundred ninety one innings sixty nine three hundred and three innings. He always said if you're going to get them get them early. He'd give up like a run or two in the first thing, and he couldn't get anything else. Audible. But you know, it's funny. Besides the Mets and Yankees. I knew he was with Houston. Also, but he was a roving instructor with the Seattle Mariners from seventy seven to eighty two domestic eighty four to ninety five then Astros from ninety four to ninety five. Lost the year eighty. Eighty nine four with the Mets. And then. Houston and then back through. At the end of the back with the Mariners in two thousand eight as a pitching coach his last year. And then he got let go and that was it as he'd been around for a while if anybody's a hall of Famer. We're like being a coach he'd be he'd be that guy. Funny story about him. I I couldn't if I had him on the show a long time ago. I just I couldn't remember it used to keep a list of all the guests. While ago. But I remember we is kids we played a game some people call a strike out some quality pitching in you put chalk on a wall to indicate strike zone. And you have a Spalding Benham stickball broom handling and he played baseball. And it was always, you know. No, no umpires. You throw some crappy looking pitch, and you say the guy struck out looking that wasn't a strike and you hold up the ball. There's a chalk Mark. And that was that was the coolest thing you the chalk this settled all arguments, and you to make sure you wipe the ball off. So there was there was no more chalk you and trying to keep or anything like that. But I was. I was pitched to play. And all of a sudden the guy started calling me Mel. Melania? Why do you keep calling me? Mel who's? Mel he said your delivery is the exact mirror image of Mel Storrow Stottlemyre is. And I looked at it. You know, what my pitch one day and just I guess subconsciously. I picked it up with a real simple, easy delivery. Tag died. Then the thing about it. But he was just everybody. I've heard and talked about it. It's a great guy. Great pitching coach knew how to deal with with every picture because every pitch is different. I was reading a story. He was in the times. When doc Gooden was pitching his no hitter. And Yankee Stadium. And it was two nothing Yankees. First and second one out J Brunner up through a wild pitch. And now, you got the second and third went out and. Sarah, my went out to talk to him. And he said, I'm not here to take you out. I'm just here to give good. You're you know, you it's all yours unless you tell me you can't do it. And he said, I can do it to go get him and he sat down, and he said he struck out struck out Brunner and the next guy popped out to Derrick jeeter. And there was a there was a no hitter. Have you ever if you ever need a semi could could help you picture? He was the guy. Think about the the Mariners twice the Yankees the Mets the Astros. I think you call it a pictures coach. Pitching coach. He was he was everything. I just wanted to. I always liked watching him pitch. Came up with the Yankees in sixty four which who little do we know at the end of the dynasty went nine and three and then the World Series and sixty five when the team was getting older we still won twenty and sixty six when you really were bad lost twenty. But he always always. He wasn't. Throw like Colfax didn't didn't blow back the way the great thinker. And you know, he, but. I don't know what he would be today if he came up today. What would he be specialty guy out of the bullpen? Would he be give you five innings? I it's funny. How I grew up watching guys who just weren't coming out. When I was a kid in for picture was out in the sixth inning. They will they must have been losing big or he was hurt. Because guys just finished wasn't a question. I still remember Watson met game once in rube. Walker the pitching coach at was sitting next to hydrogen the clicker in his hand and. I forget who it was maybe Ralph Karen somebody said that that's a clicker that they keeps track of how many pitches the pitches through and it wasn't how many pitches the pictures through comma because when he got one hundred pitches, they were taking them out. It was just it was the reference how many okay? It wasn't like ooh, he's at eighty five after six hundred. We got to take him out. It was just it was just a like a ledger. That's all it. Didn't mean, you know, when he gets the two hundred let me know. He's just that's that's the way what has changed now. Mine today if he was the starter. I guess they'd have the bullpen radio all the time because they're going to get too early. They figure they're gonna get to all the time. And that was just his style. You you might have got him early. But that doesn't mean you're gonna win the game because he's still he's still be out there. Battling all the way to the nine anything nowadays. Or we don't we don't know if we wanna pitcher a starting pitcher to see the lineup for the third time. Back. Then was like so my job supposed to pitch a complete game. And a lot of guys with fits into the ninth inning and have to come out and get ticked off. They wanna finish. Today's pitches have nothing left, and you know, but they're watching the pitch count watching the endings county. Okay. We gotta get out there. Get the bullpen ready. And the way the pictures today. You couldn't tell them. Look, I need you to go nine you have to go nine they know how to go nine anymore. How can I go nine when you taking me out at the six and third. Pitching.
