Pedro Gonzalez on Republicans' Lack of Follow Through

"Folks, I'm talking to Pedro Gonzalez, he writes for chronicles magazine chronicles magazine dot org, you were just making a point Pedro I want to let you finish that. So it's good when Republicans react to the base and like I said in this case, parents, you have Republicans in some cases reacting to the demands of parents, which is good, but the problem is that when you don't get follow through, and so operation load star is a great example of this Abbott decided that he was going to build the wall in Texas on his own because his opponents like Don huffines and Allen west suggested that if elected, they would do that. And I mean, it's documented that Abbott never thought about this or talked about it until his opponent said they would do that. But the problem was that it was so like it was so political. It was so theatrical that when Abbott did it, it was totally haphazard and in some ways it backfired. Like in some ways, operation lone star actually made the problem of illegal immigration worse in Texas. And so what I'm getting at with these parent movements is that I hope that that's not the case. I hope that when Republicans react to parents that it's actually, it's actually going to yield some good.

He had the best names for people who at chuck schumer has come out and he says look we need to get every single. Haitian into this country. You know what the problem is that we have not yet colonized haiti. You know what's really interesting is the overlap between neoconservative warmongers and the open borders crowd because deep down. They both want the same thing. They wanna colonize vast parts of the world and bring them into america. They just have different ways to do it. Chuck schumer wants to do it through allowing every single haitian to come into america. Where someone like mitt romney or liz. Cheney they want to execute an invasion of haiti that might be an exaggeration. I'm being sarcastic. But maybe venezuela chuck schumer comes out and he says i urge president biden. That's more vouch. More obedient activists. That's what this is all about. Cut sixty three schumer continues by saying that we have to stop deportations because of whip gate whatever that is because by the way there really wasn't even a whip gate. You'll actually look at the true picture. It was a guy on horseback a cowboy grabbing some criminals shirt cut sixty three images of haitian migrants being hit with whips and other forms of physical. Violence is completely unacceptable right now. I'm told there were four flights scheduled to deport these asylum-seekers back to a country that cannot receive them. Such decision defies common sense. It also defies common decency. So i urge president biden and secretary my orcas to immediately put a stop to these expulsions are am i living in the same countries him. Rep. Jim Murphy says the Texan elect Texas election integrity bill could actually pass the full Legislature on Thursday. The bill was really negotiated heavily before it came into this session after what happened last session, and so I think it reflects those changes. There may be some more proposed, but the bill is a very common sense measure that makes it easy to vote hard to cheat, and I think most Texans would like to see it as it is today. Yeah. You see how fake the refugee claims are of almost everybody on the southern border when you compare them to real refugees, he notes. Most Southern border refugees are fleeing things like poverty and bad weather. If you're talking about people fleeing Afghanistan because they're going to be beheaded because they were working with the U. S Army, that's an actual refuge. "Get back to Afghanistan later. Not. I mean, figuratively. Not literally. We're not going to go anywhere near it. But here in Houston, Texas school just started. Well, I think in most of the state for those of you who do not know kids in Houston, I SD You may be surprised to learn the Children in our city are wearing masks. Today. They're all messed up. This is what I imagine. It sounds like at a Houston public school today. What was that? We're sure to, uh What was that food? Can I take my mask off? No. Put your mask on. Anyway, I thought we passed the state law. You probably thought that to that said there would be no mask mandates in Texas public school, So that was a very long time ago. Uh, it actually wasn't it was earlier this summer. We passed that law earlier this year. Well, now we have mask mandates in public schools. Enforcement in the state's public school system of governor Abbott's ban on mask mandates has been dropped 20 while and this information come to it earlier today, courtesy of the Texas Education Agency, the T. E. A in a public health guidance letter, the TIA said. Enforcement was being dropped because of ongoing court challenges to the ban. I think that's kind of legalese. It's legal talk for Governor. Abbott didn't have the colonies to get this done, The letter said The new guidance is effective immediately. Further guidance will be issued once the litigations are resolved. But Why All the best science. We have says there's no need for masks, especially masks on young Children. I get it. Maybe an elderly person an immuno compromised person. The science we have about Children is very clear on this. We don't need to mask up young kids because they rarely get sick. When they do. They're almost never hospitalized. They rarely spread the virus. Most studies confirm this. There's very little so called scientific data to suggest the opposite. I'm speaking specifically about kids here. In the 18 months we spent experimenting with masks have done nothing to flatten the curve. There's no correlation between states with strict mask rules and ones that don't and lower or higher covid rates. So why isn't Abbott doing something about this? Well, he won't say he's been pretty quiet about the whole debacle. All his silence seems to demonstrate to his critics is that state laws do not matter. Here to respond to this news is Texas gubernatorial candidate Don Huffines, Don, thank you for some time this afternoon, sir. Hey, Thank you, Katie. Glad I'm here. Don. Why isn't Abbott doing anything about the mask mandates in school today? What should he do? Well, Well, look, This is just very typical behavior from our governor. He's all talk and no action. He's just a very poor leader. He's not only supposed to be the leader of the state attacks. Is he supposed to be the leader of the Republican Party? And and this is just look at his actions and just you know that that is not happening. Unfortunately, he's he's just really more of a of a rhino. And I say that because Look, this is a guy who could get any of our legislative priorities done if he wanted to, or all of them and you know, and then 15 17, 19 and 21. We get like two done every session out of 10 at out really out of 300. And you know why it's because Abbott doesn't want him done. He doesn't believe in our Republican Party of Texas Republican Party. Legislative priorities are really what we are as Republicans, and so I'll put it out There is, you know, he's just not a Republican. He's just a rhino. I mean, he is my buddy Michael on Twitter earlier today, said Governor Abbott is the Mitt Romney of Texas. You're absolutely correct. Don Abbott also promised there would be no vaccine passports in Texas. I got to think if this guy is not keeping his promise on mask mandates in school, does the promise about no vaccine passports in Texas hold any value? Well, of course it doesn't. You can't rely on anything, the man says, And I mean, what about securing the border? I mean, every year for eight years he's talked about even talked about his attorney general, securing the border borders more wide open it's ever been and I'm the only candidate to run for governor or will be governors got a clear plan to secure it, And I'm never going to ask permission from the federal government to do that. I'm going to use the U. S constitution to do it, which is Article one section 10 and use all the military. We need. To close the border down. I mean, he's always talked about property taxes being too high year after year, and I'm the only candidate that's got a clear plan to phase out property taxes entirely. And so I mean, it's just tax ins and Republicans. We're just tired of being lied to. We're tired of broken an empty promises. And and that's why my candidate at my my campaign is doing so well, Yeah, I appreciate that. And you are your poll numbers are up. You have a lot of people are donating to don Huffines campaign, especially since Rand. Paul endorsed you, Um, I'm with you on getting the national guard at the border. It feels like we've done that in the past. If my memory serves me correctly, this is something our friend Brad Johnson at the Texan News just tipped me off to apparently, the feds. Are now converting the the abandoned oil and gas man camps. To house illegal immigrant Children a very bizarre move. I'm sure most of our listeners would probably prefer those camps still be used for energy industry workers. But fracking has been banned. What do you think about that illegal immigrant kids are now being housed at these facilities that were previously being used for oil and gas jobs. Don, had you even heard about that. I don't think most people knew. I did hear about that and look, they're throwing money and everything they need to down there. They've got playing the federal government doesn't There's plenty of money. That doesn't mean anything to them. So they're buying hotels, motels. Man camps, anything they can Because this is really an invasion As my third trip to the border. I just got back recently and and Border Patrol estimates two million illegals on apprehended a flood into Texas and one year Since the beginning of the year, they called illegals from 150 different countries. I mean, it's an invasion, and that's why I'm going to use this United States Constitution to stop and and and we're gonna close all 25 bridges over the river for inbound commercial traffic. To put the heat on Mexico mean can we got to make Mexico secure their side of the river? The federal government's never going to secure the border ever. That's why this election so important. If Abbott wanted to security could have done it seven years ago or seven days ago, his border plans a joke, right? It's it's true. I always assume that with the Democrats, especially look with Joe Biden that nothing you see as a coincidence like this whole thing in Afghanistan falling apart right now, I think they botched it on purpose, but Going back to the thing about the oil and gas camps. Is it possible? That that Biden crippled the energy industry because he knew he could use those facilities for the wave of illegal migrants that were coming in. Well, I guess that's certainly possible. But I can tell you it is a premeditated attack on Texas to keep the border open. Like he's doing that That is the definitive, premeditated attack on us, and it always has been. Texas taxpayers are the ones satellite. I mean, we we have 500,000 approximately 4 to 500,000 illegals in our school system that we've been.

"After midnight in the Sunday looks to be a good deal wetter right now at W B a P. 77 degrees You know, Scott, the actions that, uh, the governor's listed to take to get the grid all fixed up. It doesn't as far as I know, it hasn't given her an end date. To have it done by so and so we'll know they're not. I mean, they're tangible things, but they're not like on this day. This has to be done right. It's just like they we should encourage market to may establish a maintenance schedule. We should encourage the development of projects to fit. It's just kind of like, uh, It's not like okay by August 1st. This needs to happen. Otherwise you're fired, right? It doesn't feel like even a very strong statement at all. That's what you know. I And I believe that's what people would want to know is okay. When do we not have to worry about this? Could we have a date like Thanksgiving? Or could we have you know something? A plan where We expect this to be fixed by Say the end of the year. Oh, just something instead of because I could have written this can we at least see a bulldozer? Clearing ground for a new plant. Right? You know? Yeah, the thing I see with this with this whole archive story, it's really easy when you're just looking at it politically for the governor and all of his challengers to use the border is a big talking point, because the problem and the solution for the border are both very clear Cut. People are coming in. We can put up a wall and increased security that would theoretically solve the problem. I think a lot of people are still really confused. How to solve this air Kat problem? I mean, when we talk to don Huffines yesterday, you know, he was just like, Oh, just leadership and holder Cat responsible. But what does that mean? I mean, like Governor Abbott with this. What does this mean? I think a lot of people still are scratching their heads. And another question. If you don't mind is that here we are. We could ask bread about the temperatures we've had so far this summer. We haven't had a summer basically. He had in Texas, right? We well, we've been kind of like it's been rainy, which has brought in some cooler stuff and just crazy. The temperatures we've had, uh and, uh, so with all of that in mind with Have. We saved a lot of energy along the way I've been. Is it in another little energy holding building that? No, That's that's we don't have to worry about it, huh? When we had the the your coat representative on Or the I'm sorry the uh, energy lawyer that we had on the expert on this. The power that's generated in Texas is sold immediately. There's no storage. Because they can't make money on power That's not being used. So what needs to happen is the governor needs to you're in this special session. They need to pass a law that says, If you want to do energy business in Texas, you have to build in 20% extra Coming up at 5 37 Be careful of door to door vaccinations. Um, the president has something to say about that. Also, I got a thought on should cut Dallas is Shikhar E. Wilson. Um and that's coming up at 5 37 Nicole say has the 5 30 news next? "It's patent. Stupid. Glenn On the Olympic programme, Triple 8727 B E. C. K. There's a new poll out. That shows Governor Abbott with a 39 38% lead over Matthew McConaughey. Now nobody even knows what Matthew McConaughey his policies are. What's his agenda? He hasn't even declared. Are you a Democrat? Or a Republican? Nobody knows or an independent or an independent who knows, which is probably what he run is because You know if you're anything but a left wing Kook Democrat. You can't declare that if you're in Hollywood right, so he'd probably have to say he's independent, but 39 38, whereas McConaughey months ago was way ahead of of, uh, Abbott in a head to head competition, at least according to the polls. Now, Uh, there's another Republican who is probably not well known outside of Dallas. And that's don Hofheinz. He's got a big car dealership empire here. Uh, Abbott leads him 77 to 12. So he's probably not a real threat. Uh, but Just entering the race. Uh um Is, uh, Colonel West. Yeah. Allen West who? Former Congressman obviously been very active and conservative politics for a long time. He's going to be running. He was the chair of the Texas Republican Party. For about 15 minutes. Yep. Uh, I'm not very long, but he's very well known and well respected. I think in the conservative community, and I think he's actually in a poll that they just conducted a little bit ahead of Governor Abbott interesting that it is. He's a threat for sure I would think. Yeah, but you know, of course, our own Chad Prather here from Blaze. TV is running as well. This is a crowded field, and it's interesting because Abbott is not like Greg Abbott is a guy who, if you if you're not from Texas, you might not have a huge um uh, impression of Abbott. It's interesting when I talk to people outside of Texas. What I hear typically is I wish we had a governor like yours who didn't lock down the whole time and has lifted all these mandates and all that. Exact opposite of what I hear from people in Texas who are just angry at him forever having the mandates? Yes, right. That's basically the way this breaks down. You talk to. I was talking to Andrew will cow also from police TV, Our friend from up he lives in New Jersey. I think No, his impression of how good of a job Greg Abbott is doing is quite different than I think. Someone who's living in Texas like he's positive so they wouldn't let us out of our house for 14 months. So we're we would love to have anyone who would who would allow that? I mean, you know, we I everything closed down on Basically it was March 16th was March 15th or 16th with the day that Trump did the 15 days to start this to stop the spread speech, and that led to, of course, another month of victor of slowing the spread so turned into to the end of April. We're basically nationally we were shut down for six weeks. On May 1st. I went out to a restaurant down the street from this facility. It was 25% capacity. I don't even know if they hit 25% capacity at the restaurant I was at, but damn, I was at it. I was there shoveling food down my gullet. Isn't that where you contracted Covid as well? Not so later. Okay. I got it at a restaurant in Texas. Much later pad. Uh, you know, you bring up a sort as a covid 19 survivor. You You bring up a very sore subject there, But yes, that, uh It did happen. It's not a terrible point by you, right. Uh, but I guess it did happen and again happened. I mean, it's definitely is risk. But again, it was my choice to go out and shovel food down my gullet in the middle of a pandemic. Yeah, that's my choice. And having covid 19 for you was a lot like not having covid 19. Right? Yes, it was. You had no symptoms was asymptomatic for me, which is basically staying home for 10 days. Yeah, which was not fun and didn't necessarily enjoyed our whole We did have some fun family times. But you know, when you really can't go out for any reason, Yeah, you know when you have it, but still I mean, you get through those times. My point, though, with Abbott, though, is that it was it's compared to the nation. He was definitely on the leaning freedom side of the transaction, however, for Texas, you know there's nothing but you know, perfection will do in these situations and have it has had some problems. I mean, he has He's you know, but some people just got unreasonably pissed at it. There's like Really like, Yeah. Done with him. I'm done with him forever. Yeah, Yeah, No, it's it definitely was at least around. Look, I work at the blaze, which a bunch of people who are very conservative and very outspoken, So I did hear maybe more than the average Texan did. I mean and you look at it. It's like they just did a poll on Greg Abbott's approval rating within the Republican Party. He has a 77% approval rating among Republicans, You should be able to win that way. If you have a 77% approval, you should win. It's amazing that he has this many challengers when he when you have a 77, that approval rating, though he's got some challenges, and some real ones like Allen West is a real challenger. Allen West is a real is a real challenger, Chad break. There's really popular expect, particularly in Texas. You know, Don Huffines has a lot of money. I don't I don't know, but again like it's it's a well funded candidate is a big challenge to to to a person in the pool. I just saw Prater was actually ahead. 42 to 35% over Allen West. And then I think, um Abbott, was it 30 or somewhere in there? He was actually in the lead. As far as the Republicans are, Christine. I mean, it's interesting. Yeah, I don't know what's going to happen, but I think these things are we're in the middle of a cycle to take it out of Texas here for a second. We're in the middle of a cycle where.

"70 K l i f Morning. It's 8 40 David, aiming on Tuesday morning. Retired Lieutenant Colonel Allen West is the third Republican to launch a primary challenge to well, is the third Republican in the race for governor, along with the incumbent governor. Greg Abbott, and we talked with him earlier this morning. One of the things we asked was if his primary effort is to make Texas redder than ever. Good morning, David Amy. Pleasure to be with you. I guess your your primary effort is to make Texas redder than ever Would would. Would that be one way of putting it? Well to keep in Texas, a strong constitutional conservative state, no doubt and to protect our borders, which, when I was down at the Roma district at two o'clock in the morning, standing on the real Grand reverend, watching 80 illegal immigrants across the river and Just be collected up and transported by the board Patrol. The No. Tell it well, though, end up So we have some serious issues We've got to deal with here in Texas. For our future. You were the former chairman of the Texas Republican Party. What were your primary concerns with Governor Abbott and the way he is running the state? Well, I think that when you look at how it was handled the covid issues I mean, we lost close to 10,000 small businesses during the Covid issue. The fact that we had the governor that was really not working with the Legislature, which is what you're supposed to do after 30 days of emergency call the Legislature in Doing a lot of things by executive Action Executive order. Uh, 200 almost $90 million were appropriate about the governor not through the legislative process for contact tracing appropriations supposed to be done through the through the Senate Budget Committee or the House Budget Committee. And several other things, but most important, we've got to do something about our border. This legislative session that we just saw was not a very strong, not a successful legislative session, which is the reason why they have to come back on the eighth of July. I think you'd have to agree that the whole pandemic issue was one of, you know, once in a lifetime deal an emergency to be sure if the governor were to take the time deal with these issues through going through the legislative process, couldn't that just bogged everything down so that nothing would have happened or or been nothing would have been done except for watered down solutions. Well, The first thing is that you never even an emergency. You don't get rid of the rule of law and that that's the case that we will start establishing dictatorial rule. Which is what I think we saw happen a little bit because no elected official has enumerated power to decide who or what is essential. The most essential thing in the United States America and in Texas is liberty. It is about if that Benjamin Franklin once said, those who would surrender essential liberty for temporary security will at the end, deserve neither liberty nor security. We're talking with Lieutenant Colonel Allen West is a former chairman of the Texas Republican Party, also a former congressman out of Florida. Now he's running for governor here in the state of Texas. Incumbent governor Greg Abbott has quite the campaign war chest. I think something like $40 million. He has the endorsement of former president Trump. How do you compete against that? Well, first and foremost, I'm not running to serve President Trump, and I'm glad that the governor has his endorsement. I'm here to serve God country in Texas. And the other thing is 10. Years ago, when I was a freshman member of the United States House representatives, I raised $19 million and I think that with the name and face recognition, I have the fact that I traverse the state of Texas. In the past year. 33,000 Miles. I'm well known at the state, so I'm not worried about a war chest. I'm worried about making sure that message gets out and we connect with the people and they'll make a decision to come The primary next year sometime, probably May, June because of redistricting. Alright speaking, Let's stay with that topic. Just for a moment. You just just announced officially your candidacy. But do you have any organizations? That are already supporting you or vowing their support in including funding. Well, I mean, you know, we announced on Independence Day July the fourth and yesterday was still a holiday. So out of that we have too many organizations out. But we already have endorsements that are coming in and the most important endorsements that I have so far from my former soldiers. The people that I've served in combat with, so I'm not concerned about you know the Pac's and corporations or whatever. But when you have the endorsement of people that you have, you know, shared the blood and the sweat and the tears with that's the most important thing to me. Earlier in our conversation, you mentioned illegal immigration. What do you think about the governor's plan to rebuild the wall here along the Texas border, using Public money. I mean donation money. Well, you know, a wall is not a panacea. If you take the time to go down to the board, you'll say to that we have a lot of systems that make up this a legal immigration issue that we're facing. So I think first and foremost when I saw National Guard troops aiding people that were being Ferried across the Rio Grande, wherever we need to have a full deployment of our national guard. They're not. They're assisting people to come into Texas illegally, but they should be there to interdict and to stop the flow of people coming into Texas illegally. We need to also start looking at instead of go fund the accounts. Maybe we should Tax the Remittances that people are who are here illegally or send it back to these countries, which is up in the billions of dollars. But most importantly, we've got to go after the funding and the financing of these criminal and terrorist organizations that we call the cartels. And that's something that we could do right here in Texas because that's their center of gravity. They're making $25 million a week. And you know when you consider the Texas is the number one state for human sex trafficking, we have got to stop this thing and we have got to get to the root cause of it. That is former U. S representative, former chairman of the Texas Republican Party now Candidate for governor of Texas. Allen West, and you can listen to the full interview at K l i f dot com including the interview with fellow candidate Don Huffines 8 46 Right now, let's have another look at the Tuesday traffic. "When I go home, Mhm traveled down a very well known Texas highway, a state highway and then I have to turn to go towards our little housing development and where I make that turn. There's a huge billboard with Don Huffines smiling at me. Mm. As I make the turn to go home. Well, he's running for governor. Yes, he is. I know that's why, and that race is getting a little crowded now because on Sunday, lieutenant Colonel Allen West announced he's running in the Republican primary as well. And we have don Huffines on the line with us, and he joins us. Good morning, Mr Hopkins. Good morning, everyone. Good morning. First off. What was your reaction when you heard that Lieutenant Colonel Allen West was joining the race. Well, look, I welcome him to the race. I think joining our campaign to show that Texas Republicans can do a lot better than having a career politician like Greg Abbott in office. It looks like it looks like you all are trying to move moved to a little bit further to the right than than the other candidates. That's the impression I'm getting at this point. And I know that Governor Abbott has taken a lot of criticism, especially since the covid pandemic the way that he has Ushered the state through that process. What in particular? Are you concerned about? Well, look, Texans are smart Republican voters are very smart. They know a failed administration when they see it. I mean, let's just look at the issues affecting taxes, huh? Look, I'm running because unlike most Republicans worked, I'm tired of being like to I'm tired of broken and empty promises and our as our border secure. Are. Are the property taxes going down? Do we have confidence in our election that our votes are being properly counted? And of course, the answer is no. No and no. And I can just go all the way down the lift, and that's why My border plan is resonating so well across the spectrum and why my campaign is so exciting and getting so much energy and so many volunteers and donations. I mean I'm going to secure the border. Texas border and I'm never going to ask permission than the federal government to do that. This is our border. We're not going to be asking permission to secure our border. I'm going to engage the Texas military. All of our Texas military obscure every crossing over the river to stop inbound commercial traffic, and that's going to make sure it puts the economic pressure on Mexico to secure their side of the river. I'm the one that's going to finish the wall Trump's wall. We're going to build a Texas while we're going to build it for hundreds of miles wherever it's needed. We're going to do whatever we need to do to secure that border. The governor made that announcement a couple of weeks back that he was going to use federal money to build finished building that wall he had the former president. Who has endorsed him alongside him, Um and he's raising money through, um, online donations. Um, and I think you had said that That was your idea that he stole right? That is correct. Of course, that that's very true. And look, his idea to build the wall is really a joke. He was going to build used donations to build like 100 ft of it and maybe built 10 miles of it. I'm going to build hundreds of miles of the wall. Whatever is necessary, and I can tell you I'm not asking permission from the federal government to secure our border. We're going to use the military upon all the illegals back across the river, and this is an invasion. This is an invasion of Texas. It's the borders run by the cartels. Everyone pays the cartels across that river and its sex trafficking, human trafficking, You name it, It's going on down there, and we're going to put a stop to it once and for all, because I'm really the actual Republicans actually going to do something there. Abbott wanted to do something he could have done it two years ago six years ago. He didn't want to secure the border. The results speak for themselves. You repeat the phrase and you just said a moment ago that you're tired of being lied to Texans are tired of being lied to. What is it? That we're being lied to about. Well, it's just the border for once every year. Our our governor says he's going to secure the border. Let's just talk about property taxes every year. We're going to get property tax relief. Texans are tired of renting their homes from the government. We don't own anything in Texas. All we do is rent our property. All we do is rent it from the government. And every year the rent goes up and up and up. I mean, just let's just visualize for a moment what it would be like. If you didn't have any property tax to pay, Imagine the wealth that you could that you would have in this pursue your own happiness and not the government's happiness. This is your property, and all we do is rent it from the government and the rent goes up enough. You can't budget for it. And everyone's going to get taxed out of their homes are out of their businesses. I've got a great plan to phase out property taxes over 10 years, and then everyone's going to get a chance to vote on. It will be a constitutional amendment so the voters can weigh in where they want to eliminate it once and for all. This is very doable. It's been a priority. The Republican Party on an offer for years and years, So how do you happen? How do you plan to raise money to fund the state government then? Well, the best way to do it as women is to limit state spending, So if we can't state spending it at a low increased number, like 2% are revenues generally grow at about 8%. We can apply that growth in revenues to buy down property taxes. We can also shift some of it over to the sales tax consumption tax. And over time, we're going to be able to eliminate it all and still fully fund the schools and in the cities in the counties that rely on property tax. It's imperative, though, that we get the state of of this being relying upon property tax. And we'll look this. This isn't going to be easy, but we can do it. I'll keep asking the Legislature to come back every 30 days to get it handle. This is going to create more wealth in our state, and we can really possibly imagine billions and billions of dollars and that wealth and we're going to finally get our economic liberty back. Welcome with Don Huffines, Republican candidate for governor of Texas. Mr. How often do you mentioned the Legislature, and they've been called back into session starting Thursday specifically to deal with the election reforms. The election. Um, whatever you want to call it. The Democrats call it restrictions, but it's not that. How do you feel about that whole issue? Well, there's nothing more important than having confidence in our elections. I'll tell you that it's It's the foundation of our constitutional republic. And when people don't have confidence in it, the foundation breaks and and all heck is going to break loose. And look, we've got a lot of laws on the books that, uh did you can't cheat an election. We know people treatment elections, people cheating relations, since there ever been an election. The key here is enforcement. And I know the Democrats like to say, Well, this is voter suppression. Voter suppression is when millions of taxes I think their votes are being stolen because they think well, what's the point of voting? So we've got to get confidence and we got to get enforcement. My plan is real simple. I'm going to make this a law enforcement issue. I'm not going to let the parties be in charge of voter intent, integrity or election integrity. Want law enforcement to be and in every every aspect of voters of the ballot boxes following the ballot boxes, how they're counted, and they're going to be specifically trained for that. We'll have a separate division for that. We need to separate court system separate prosecution system It's going to be we've got to do what I'm going to do whatever we need to get done to make sure that Texans have confidence in the elections. Don, Thanks so much for your time this morning. We do appreciate it. Hey, thank you guys for having me and let me just tell you something. Excuse me as you a new day. It's going to be a new day for Texas and I can just go to my website. Don.

No, no, no. I think you're right now. She was talking to a group of other Republicans. But you're right. She did use words that a lot of the progressives like to use Trump said. The things that we all believe I believe everything, Trump said. He said the stuff before didn't have enough guts to say he would say it. We all think the same thing. We just don't stand like nobody talks about the white elephant in Chicago. Nobody wants to say why there's so much crime and there. I don't have to say it. You all know it. We all know it. What are your thoughts on that? Don't think we're getting too close. I don't think it's anything wrong with anybody getting too close to Trump. And it's the term neo patches is a remake of the Democratic narrative. Absolutely. That work should ever be mentioned. Absolutely. Yeah, she sounds like a Republican strategist. That may be changing ships, if you know what I mean. That's very possible. She didn't really have much to back that up with. I heard a great Speaking of Trump a great, uh, description of Donald Trump, which I thought was a great great way to look at it. He was chemo chemo to the swamp. As far as he came in there, he was going to get it done. It's it could make you sick. It could make you throw up. It could hurt but he did it and nobody wants chemo. Nobody wants chemo. It's not a very good analogy. Well, I think it was very good analogy because it can make things better. But it can be ugly getting there. In early June, former President Donald Trump. He endorsed Abbott's 2022 reelection bid, praising the governor's policy on guns, immigration jobs and law enforcement and crime. In fact, Greg Abbott is a fighter. And a great governor Well for the incredible people of Texas what Trump wrote an email to supporters. Now the new Quinnipiac University poll Texas registered voters released on June 23rd before Let's announcement and his candidacy. 46% of the respondents said Abbott deserves a third term. While 48% said he does not. That, according to the Quinnipiac poll, you know, I guess one of the things I like about Abbott, the fact that he has been paying close attention. What's going on right here in Austin? And what's going on Right here in Austin is, you know a symptom of what's going on so many places around the country as a politician, Austin is perfect. If you're Republican politician, it's great to have what's happening in Austin. That way you get to speak out against the progressive lefties. You get to speak out against the Democrat Party. Yeah. Yeah, Yeah, no doubt. You've got the turf to do it. Yeah, and what's going on? Kind of serving it up for him, right? But I You know, I want to see some action. As far as I really do think that if things keep going the way they're going with our crime here in our lack of police that DPS is going to have to be a bigger part of of of our law enforcement here. I don't see any other way because it's going to take. I don't like that idea, but I understand where you're coming from. I don't like it Don't like it at all. I don't like the the need the reason. How about we just vote out guards and vote out the this city Council? How about we do that? Great. Okay, Great. Greg is checking in from 1 83 35 area, Greg. Good morning. Good morning, sir. I agree about voting out the City Council. But what I actually called about is about how many people got shot over the Fourth of July weekend. Yeah, and we already have laws that it's against the law to shoot someone with a gun. It's against the law to commit a crime with a lot again. But instead of going on, let's let's Let's enforce those laws. We go with what we have to have gun control, etcetera. And you know it's my opinion if there was a federal law that if you committed a crime with a gun against the human being so not protein or something, but a human being that it was a life sentence, with no parole that this would stop overnight. Yeah..

"Welcome to the tide and don show where we're number one in calling out. Number two got something to say. Join the conversation at 51283605 90. Now here are taught and done more than 250 people shot and killed in the United States over the holiday weekend 99 shots just this weekend in Chicago alone. We had maybe four here in the Austin area. Yeah, nothing to be proud of. That's for sure. Jump in at 51283605 Niner sobering. What's the problem? What's the problem That's going to take generations to fix. And I know that the left wants to focus on guns because that seems like a quick, quick fix and something they think they can have control of. The other aspect of it. The human aspect will take generations to fix this generations. To do what I mean. What, also also, uh, we need more police, obviously, uh so you could jump in at 51283605 90 generations to fix. What does that mean? What do you mean? Well, you know, as we've said Listen, Texas GOP Chairman Alan West has announced that he is running for governor challenging the incumbent governor, Greg Abbott, in the Republican primary. You like you like Allen West. Why? But you also like Governor habit. Is I I I have, uh am I am I have strong government Governor Abbott. I just think he's done a good job. Overall. I think he is still someone to take seriously as as as our governor. Abbott will face West and former state Senator Don Huffines in the 2022 Primary West announcement came during an appearance. Where he said he and his family members since November, he launched a campaign video and and he was out this morning on Fox talking up his campaign, he says, he says, it's our time to stand up and honor the words Texas Our Texas in a video and to secure the future of our Children and our grandchildren to make sure that the growth and the opportunity and the prosperity the economic success That we see here in Texas continues West, posting that over the weekend, and he says Texas should remain energy independence. He received a standing ovation from his church goers. You know his the congregation there over the weekend, he says. I couldn't think of a better place and a better day to make this announcement is what he said They're at church Sunday morning. Jump in at 51283605 90 in the video West can be seen reading Bible verses and the Declaration of Independence two churchgoers on July. The Fourth West did not directly mention Abbott in the video when or when. Speaking to the churchgoer Sunday. The video included a platform of West campaign and mentioned securing the state's border and fighting human and sex trafficking. Some of his top priorities jump in at 51283605 90. I've always liked West as far as the image that he conveys or portrays. Uh, as a strong leader, I think he's someone that really would be really serious about our our border security for sure, But as far as you know, being able to point to, you know, changes that he's made for our country. And, uh, you know, specific achievements in politics can't really find any. I mean later, the Texas Republican Party. Uh, Congressman from from from from Florida. A rep from Florida. Uh, things like that. But, you know, I just have a I think he would be a fighter. I have a good feeling about him. But I can't point to any specifics as far as because of this, and because of that, because of that. And you said yourself that he hasn't necessarily done a great job as chairman of the, uh, Texas Republican Party. Actually, What I said was is a lot of people that a Texas Republican Party at the highest levels are concerned about his inability to raise money and organized the fundraising mechanism that it would take to be governor. That's what some top Republicans have said on Social media. Now there's another Republican strategist out there. And I'm bringing this up because Allen West is the only one of the three on the Republican side seeking that primary that have not cozying up to Donald Trump. Greg Abbott did at the border. Don Huffines says Abbott did that because I'm the trump candidates. That's what don Huffine says. Allen West hasn't done that yet. And the Republican strategist is lashing out at the extreme right of her own party. Susan del Percio. She really made the remarks in an interview, saying that I've been looking at the new word for Trumpism because I hate it. And if it goes deeper than just Donald Trump within the Republican Party, she goes on to explain. Forget Trumpism, its neo fascism. That's what the grassroots of the party looks like. Right now. She's a Republican strategist. She fears the wackiest wah keys are going to win the Republican primary. But they're going to lose the general election after enough losses, as we can see, maybe normally returning because of the neo fascist in our own party. This is what she says Susan Del Percio. Jump in. We'd love to get your thoughts your opinions. Greg Abbott has set shoulder to shoulder with Donald Trump at the border in that press conference invited him here. Don Huffines calls himself the trump candidates. I haven't heard Allen West say that. No, I'd love to get your thoughts at 51283605. 90, Thailand, Dinesh L. "To the American people and the American people alone During the certification On January six, the mob of Trump supporters stormed the capital, some chanting Hang Mike Pence. President Joe Biden won the Electoral College on a 306 to 232 vote. Tanya J. Powers, Fox News. All right, there you go. Get a full reported that story on our website at news. Radio. K l b j dot com Joining us on the live news line, The constant Austin City Council agitator. His name is Brad. Swell, and, Yeah, Good morning. How you doing, man? As a pain in the ass. Sometimes he is sometimes he can, and he wears it with a badge of honor. I certainly do. I'm actually calling you all live from the range down in South Austin. I came here to buy a brand new F 15 and some recreational nukes. There you go. It turns out they don't care that they don't carry it there. But that's what you will need. As Joe Biden, the president of the free world threatens us with nuclear weapons. If we try to overthrow the government got that going man on me, If what he basically did is he basically gave us a true definition of why we should cherish and protect the Second Amendment. Made me want to go buy more weapons is what it was. Looks like it did. Apparently, he hasn't heard of Vietnam or Afghanistan. But he said, We said, Yeah, he did. Hey, listen, there's a lot in the news, especially with the City council that we need to talk. About. One was earlier this week, Mayor Steve Adler and a big conversation about reparations. He's making a big push he and a bunch of other mayors across the country. Reparations as a way to guess lead to equality in America. Is that the goal? Is that what he's thinking the race history? What do you think? I mean, it will certainly lead to division that's for sure. You know, I don't know about you guys. I've never owned slaves, and I don't think anybody laugh today is a slave. So I don't know exactly what I did. It's sort of a sense of my father situation being punished for something our ancestors may or may not have done. Um, but you know, he was appointed organization mayors for organized reparations and equity. You know my question to the City Council, The city Council people that actually support this benefit. Flint has tweeted about it yesterday. I think You know, the top driver, Madison City Council and all when they talk about race, they talk about power dynamics. You know me personally, I'm not more powerful than a ta Sharper Madison. You know, she's a Councilwoman. She actually can. Really affect change in Austin, whether I like it or not. So how much money do I personally owe the Taj Harbor? Madison? And why? What exactly is it for? How much is it? Who would get it? And how much Right? Exactly. Yeah, And yeah, that's pretty interesting. Now. Adler's also along with a couple of other city Council members, part of another big mayors push across this country for u B. I A universal basic income. You breathe. You walk you stand upright, You could get a monthly stipend. If you will just just exist. You deserve it. And, uh, you know, cost lower than that. It is it actually is. Part of it's true. It is. I mean, it steals a lot of ambition, Doesn't it steals a lot of dignity and and and we've kind of had a sampling of that during this this this pandemic when people got extra benefits as part of their unemployment, we kind of had a A sampling of this socialist idea. Yeah, absolutely. You know the the idea that so Yeah, he's a part of an organization. Mayors were guaranteed income and on their website, they will meant the fact that the social safety net does not actually cover all needs that there were not mine. So they want to add this on top of that. You know the argument for a universal basic income. Maybe if you got rid of all other welfare programs, perhaps that might make a little bit more sense. But that's not what they're arguing for their arguing for on top of everything else, and of course, it's just a vote buying scheme. You know the Adler saying that now $500 a month, I think is the number right? Um, And you know the next next year when there's a mayor's race? Who's going to promise 501 Who's going to promise 1000 Who's going to promise 2000? Why stop at 500? Why don't you Why don't you just get them done? Yeah. I mean, if 500 bucks a month, which stimulate the economy can imagine what 10,000 month when I just had a texture pointed out. By the way, those reparations will will be paid by All races. By the way, That's true, who are taxpayer? That's true, Even Oh, yeah, and all of these programs we've got to ask, you know they're going to they're going to Dole out a certain amount of money. How much money are they going to take to actually perform that task? Is it going to be like the democracy dollars situation where the cost of the program across two million Only 800,000 come out, You know it's going to be a bad deal for everybody, and we have to remember Mary, and there is one of the wealthiest people. Perhaps in Austin. He certainly on the city council. So humble work is 200 Some odd million? Yeah, Why is it Why doesn't he just put his money where his mouth is? That's true. Have a little skin in the game. And show us how it's done. How well it works with his own money. Show us. Yeah, that's a good point. So you saw that Paul this morning? I You know this this Quinnipiac poll about the governor's race. In Texas, Texas voters appear according to this poll and keep in mind. You know, polls these days are very questionable. Right, Uh and and and and it appears Texans are divided on Governor Greg Abbott, whether he should run or whether he shouldn't run and and a lot of people are interested in Matthew McConaughey, a Yeah, I don't know why. I mean, it's kind of weird, right? I mean, have we heard from Matthew McConaughey on this front? While we were in recent months? We saw him in that that green suit at the soccer match. I mean, come on. You don't mean as a green suit. Come on, Brad. You don't like green big, good governor, because because absolutely absolutely. Yeah. He came out there playing bongos and I don't really understand why he's at 42%. No one knows what he stands for. Um, but, you know, Beto overwork is, of course at 34%. I don't think that that's gonna you know, I I doubt he could win in Texas is still pretty red Red State. You know what I find interesting again? I've talked about him before on your show. Uh, former Texas senator and Republican challenger. Don Huffines. You know he got 8%. I would like to encourage people to go out and, you know, look more of his platform. You know, I don't know exactly how he's going to accomplish some of his goals. But I will actually be talking to him later today to find out more and you know he's I would like people to just check them out. He's interesting. He's kind of a shoot from the hip kind of guy. He's he's been a lawmaker before in Texas, he said. I guess you know he's well. He's got investments in a lot of things up in the Metroplex up there. Don Huffines I've met in years and years ago. He's a He's a sharp guy, and and I want to say he's trump like but not as sharp on the edges. Does that make sense, Brad? Yeah, I think so. And you know everyone is in love with Rhonda fantasy right now, and he's doing I think a lot of great work. You know if we want someone like Rhonda Santos, I don't think Abbott is the right choice for that. He seems to be just sort of following Ron defenses lead And, of course, remember Abbott shut down the economy just like everybody else for this pandemic and That doesn't sound very conservative and freedom loving to me. Yeah, yeah, but Abbott comes in with 49% McConaughey 42 Aurore 34, Then Allen West, the former Texas GOP chair Alan West 25%. He didn't hold that position very long and from Republicans I talk about talk to at the Capitol..

"Floating in Florida. Floating as a raft and they look like they're having a good time. And then seven sharks big sharks surround the raft look like a couple of them at least was a hammerhead with the with the fins popping up out of the water. Yeah, they're doing the whole shark thing where they got the fin up, and it's that you know they're circling and looking, very threatening. Whole shebang there? Yeah, pretty crazy. Now they tell me, you know some of them. The hammerheads are not supposed to be that aggressive. You tell that to the surgeon who's trying to reattach your leg wells, Hammerhead. I don't know what he was thinking. You know what I although this crazy is a valid point. It's a very good point A on the floating girls sharks and in their waters. Yeah. You ought not be messing with the sharks. That'd be my advice. Guys stay away from sharks. And while you're at it while you're doing the two for today, stay away from the New York Times. Uh oh. This is just nuts. We We just t said a few minutes ago. This this sheer reporter editorialist or all of the above. Apparently, she is an editor and a reporter, and she's one of the top ranking people. Creates content for the New York Times. Her name is Mara Gay. Don't laugh, Billy. Add. That's not funny. Why are you snicker that that I didn't say nothing? Her name is she says she feels disturbed. When she sees American flags. This is a woman that is supposed to work at one of the biggest news outlets in America, and she's disturbed by American. This is really going to continue. I was on Long Island this weekend visiting a really dear friend and I was really disturbed. I saw dozens and dozens of pick up trucks with, uh, you know, uh, explicate IBS against Joe Biden on the back of them Trump flag and some cases, just dozens of American flags. Which you know is also just disturbing because essentially, the message was clear. It was. This is my country. This is not your country. I own this. What? And so until we're ready to have that conversation, this is going to continue what really is concerned? We didn't have the conversation about the American flag being a threat to Americans. Now, she claims. This is all being taken out of context. Here's what I'll just briefly explain to you what was said before that, so you don't have to watch five minutes of care What all you know, she says, And does she's being interviewed on MSNBC contributor there, and she says it bothers her. There are still people in this country that think that Trump won the election. No, no. And then from that she goes right into you know, I was in Long Island the other day, People were waving American flags. And it was disturbing to me and Explica Tibbs against Biden. I think she meant expletives. Does she mean in Guatemala? Is that where she was? Is this long Island? Um, some other countries, Central America? Yeah. Is this a long island in America? Kamala went down to Central America and people don't learn for a devil or something They actually Was looking for the devil went down to Georgia. I think alright, looking for some souls. Yeah, Yeah. She probably already met the devil and sold hers years ago. Um, Texas news. I don't know if y'all are keeping up with what's going on. But you know who Allen West is right? Allen West was the leader of the Democrat Party. He's a retired colonel Publican Republican party. I'm thank you Retired Colonel from the military. And now what else you notice about him right away. What is a black guy? Uh, yeah. I mean, he was a sharp dresser. But if you noticed Skin color Canada Just tell me a lot about you. You set me up. You did. We all know what you were getting at there? Yeah, but he is like the leader of the GOP in Texas that he was top dog conservative, And then he resigned. And you know why? Because he's probably gonna run for governor against Matthew McConaughey against McConaughey bait. Oh, Greg Abbott. Uh, don Huffines. I think the only Republican we just actually mentioned from Dallas Fort Worth, I think McConaughey is going to be a It's kind of a Republican. Is he going to Is he going to list himself as a Republican? Well, he hasn't announced. He's running. I know. Maybe you don't actually want to run. Who knows, isn't it Well, Mitt Romney says. He's a republic. Great thing about America. We get a choice. That's true. More choices, The better we can weed through them. And if Allen West is still standing when it's time to make the call right there, buddy. I'm pulling that lever. Of course I'm told I'm a racist. So I naturally it would have to just vote for any white guy. Even a communist before I could vote for him, right? That's what I'm told Allen West would be a great candidate. Don Huffines would be a great candidate. Um, but you know who else resigned their job recently? Who? That Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman. Yeah, I saw that. I know her. Do you think she's gonna run? She was that direct. She was the head speaker at the Reagan dinner up Grams county just last month, And she was good man. Why is she Quinton? Brilliant woman. Uh, well There's speculation she might run for attorney general. Now I hate to be the one to point this out here. Okay? Eva was born in Chicago. Now, technically as somebody that's from Chicago. I think I can use this word if she runs Doesn't that make her a carpetbagger? Rosa rules, guys and I, And if I was if I was running one of these campaigns like if I was long has she been down here, though? Did she just come down here to run? No, no, no. She's been down here for a long time. I think that excuse Is it okay? But technically, people are saying Allen West is a carpetbagger. How long has he been around here? Not long, just long enough that he ran the Republican Party for what a year or two. He didn't do that for very long. And then before that he didn't live in Texas. Well, maybe he came to the rescue because he saw what Abbott was doing. And he saw what Beta was trying to do to Texas. And he said, somebody needs to get down there and straighten that place out. If I was running any of these people's campaigns, it's all about branding and messaging. If you're running against Matthew McConaughey, Hollywood That's Hollywood. You guys don't want Hollywood run in Texas keeps saying Hollywood over and over again, and even a lot of liberals and moderates will agree. Oh, no, he's born in Texas. Yeah, but he's been spent more of his life in Hollywood. Well, that's true. Well, who's doing better for Texas? Now? Him or him or her or him? We'll probably her, but even still her and Allen West if I was running a campaign against them. Carpetbaggers, right? Both of them Carpetbaggers. Alright. So do you know who the attorney general is now? The attorney general right now is Ken Paxton. Okay. And, uh, where's the file? I don't know where he was born. And let's find out. Okay. Why? What do you What do you think of compaction? Well, if we find out he's from somewhere else, we just dog on him. Okay, well, Ken Pakistan Has not announced if he's running again yet grinning again. Maybe the Supreme Court justice Guzman has noticed that there might be a need, but perhaps an opening to fill. Oh, I would like that. Because George P. Bush is the other guy that wants that job, and he can't know, uh, ain't a friend and and uh huh. Yep, not. She's got a fan in me. Paxton was Army brat, So I guess he lived all over the place Moved around a lot. North Dakota, Florida, New York, North Carolina, California, Oklahoma. An air base. Here is what it says He was born on the Minot Air Base. That's kind of cool. Um, yeah. Matthew Makani, Hollywood Allen, West Carpetbagger. Greg Abbott Rhino liberal. Well, you want to be dog and Allen West man. I'm not. I'm just saying if I had to run soon as you found out, he was black. You turned on him, man. That ain't right. A friend of mine named Chad Prather is a comedian, and he wants to run. But some people think and I'm look, Does he find that funny? Well, chat is chat is funny. It's part of his routine. He's running, and some people say that his campaign is just liked, er. Doesn't it mean to talk about running for governor when the governor can't run? Um all right. I get these comedians need to stop that. That's rude to make jokes about that. There was just a guy on hold, who wanted to talk about Chad Prather and I was going to take his call..
