"He's really established. Central Valley is quite a program and just their 11th years and it's why I'm missing with the style that you don't see, often at least nowadays in this wing T that Josh is gonna attempt to call play by play on which will be quite challenging, But it's gonna be fun to see how how does Central Valley react? To this unique offense. It's interesting why missing has a lot of traditions, and one of them is when they do calisthenics, warm ups. They do it in the shape of a W on the field, which I've never seen at school. Do that and door and I know you can't relate to this, but I feel like At least in my athletic career. I feel like finally I'm the backup that gets called into the big game. Now I'm getting this opportunity to be a part of the big game. Jeff, you're the Burger Pro's pro. You're gonna be fine. You're gonna make sure that everybody is into into this game and get the excitement level toe through the roof. Your approach pro man, I believe in. You can't wait. This is gonna be a lot of fun. All right, guys. Thank you very much. Judge Roundtree, Jeff Hathorn in her she getting ready for the game coming up and they mentioned the wing T coach. Tell us take a moment and talk about the wing T and why it's so difficult to be able to defense against You know, it's a system and the thing that's need about the wing T and what it's been old old offense that has some roots from Tubby Raymond and the University of Delaware, and he was named by many the Delaware Wing T for a long time. You gotta coach it and why missing? Who's been running it for for 37 years? That jokingly said earlier since since Christ was a quarterback, you know, so I mean, he He basically has run this system for a long, long time. And it is the system and that it fits together. You know, if you're doing this, we're gonna do that. If you take away this, we're gonna be able to go to that. And I think the neat part for that system is they get so good at running it and I've seen all the defensive adjustments or defensive theories of defending them. But at the end of the day what they depend on is that hey, we can do what we do and adjust to what you do a swell as possible, And that's our That's our best chance to win during as a player. How difficult is it to make those adjustments when you're talking about Going up against something you've just never seen before. In high school. Well, you have to stay locked in, and I remember playing Navy myself for a year. I was playing defense for the University of Pittsburgh and Navy runs a wing T offense, and you know it's something that you're not used to, but you have to stay with your keys. If you're a linebacker, and your man is the fullback, do not look at anybody else. But the fullback, you tackle the full back even if he doesn't have the ball. If you're an outside backer or for your safety in the box, and you have one of the wing backs, you have to make sure you keep your eyes on the wing back because if you veer off and you do, and you just glance another direction, that ball will be up the field before you know it. So you have to be key sound. If you're playing against the wind T offense and you're on defense. You have to be locked in. All right. We're talking once again. Coach Don Hall of Gateway during Dickerson joining us The play by play and the color on the game from a Hershey with Central Valley and wire missing. Judge Roundtree and Jeff Hathorn will get to them coming up in about 15 minutes From now, with kickoff, however, I had an opportunity just a couple of days ago to talk to Jordan. Whitehead plays for Tampa Bay now and played for Central Valley and talked a little bit about What his high school career meant to him and what he would say to the kids if he had opportunity to be in the locker room and a little bit from Monday night football and that celebration on that interception, where they rode the boat. Interesting story on that, too, is coming.

"I mean, grand scheme of things. We got to keep things in perspective and which we could have went out there, you know last week and battled it out. I'm sure have been a classic game, but Like you said, You're going to put things in perspective. But what about what I did want to I guess kind of ask you. I mean, being shut down for two weeks, because I mean, obviously, I pray to God we don't have to do it and pray to God. Not many other teams have to do it. But how do you? How do you keep your kids engaged? Like, Obviously, you can't practice. Do you try to hold zoom. Practises zoom meetings. How would you go about text? I don't want to think about the thought of that They're still in school. They're all virtual now due to the situation so We still have the school day as a normal You know time or if you will. And then when school is over, we have met each day at a normal practice time in a zoo meeting. Still try to keep him in the mindset of okay at school. And then it's football time, at least for a bit, And we haven't been in a zoo meeting for the length of a normal practice going crazy like that, But we just sort of gone back through and reviewed. Some schematic stuff spent a lot of time talking about, you know, for the rest of the season and and really stressing, you know guys to take care of themselves. And to stay safe so that we can get this thing behind us. But we have had some meetings. You know where we've talked a little bit of scheme we've sort of, you know, taken The game plan and broken it down into smaller pieces and done it little half hour to 45 minute chunks. Um, and again, we reviewed our own film a lot, and then I started looking at film of the last three opponents. I know that we have on the regular season schedule, you know, starting next week? Sure, There's no playbook for it. Hans just kind of figured out as you go. Yeah, That's a great point, because I mean, I don't know. No. I thought about other schools that have kind of gone through it. But the timing is Is unique. You know if you did it preseason differently altogether If he did it if you had it happened, maybe in out of conference games like were fortunately start game with a non conference game, But now we're Now we're talking about conference games. And how do you make him up in Which ones do you make up on DH? What happens next? And then again? I don't know that I've ever had a season by weeks or I've had No playoff bye weeks or that times where maybe you didn't have a game scheduled. But I've never been through a hate 14 days. Can't even get together. Can't even do any football. You know, it's a very They presume that we can do something, but it's just not You know, it's not anything other than our conversation with Don Hall continues as we talk high school football here, where high school football lives. Katy K Radio Don is the head football coach at Gateway, also the athletic director Dan's angrily, Eric Gasparovic, Post goes, It's Mike White. You mentioned the 14 Day layoff done, and a lot of folks have looked ahead. And have been talking about a huge neighborhood rivalry a clash with Penn Trafford. Will there be enough time to get ready to play that game? There's been some rumors that that game could be moved to mid week. Do you have any idea where that game stands right now and if and when you will play Pen Trafford? We're definitely gonna play that game. It's still a little bit in doubt when it will be. Ideally, we kind of talked about maybe trying to get it to a Monday to give us a full week of practice a cz we can start next Wednesday. Um, but again, you know, you gotta consider The other side of it and would throw everybody off. You know, in terms of their preparation if everybody moves till Monday, so we had some conversations about John Ruin line also carry Hetrick Brady and kind of talked about it from All different perspectives. And and you know who knows if we could do a Sunday thing that might be in the offing or or Monday? Certainly, we have to balance getting ready and having enough time to resume. No football and prepare for an opponent on the field with Considerations for the other guys in the rest of their season and and their schedules as well. You know, the tough part is you could be the shoe could be on the other foot at any point and you'll have to try it. I think, find a wayto take care of each other, You know, like we always do in this business. But even more so now, in a time where there's so much uncertainty, and no playbook is Eric, it said. So we're we're just trying to find a way, but, um, some way or another. We're going to play that game and Hopefully, finish the last two games and take it from there. All right, don, thank you so much for the time on the phone. Best wishes to you. We don't wish what you're going through upon anybody. But Appreciate your perspective and putting everything into context, right? We can get lost in football and losing games and things of that nature. But we do I think amidst this virus sometimes do lose. Of the fact that this is about health and safety foremost, and I think you've got that perspective right on on the money, my friend. Well, I appreciate that. You know, there could tell you that you get in a relationship with these guys when they're 14 or 15 years old and you see him growing the young man and they really become like your own kids. So yet. Been a lot of time worrying about them in a lot of different things. Um and this is this is a scary one, You know? So first and foremost. You know, we turned the corner with everybody healthy and moving forward without any after effects, then we'll be fortunate for it. And you know the other part. Just be a footnote to a Steven, That's already been pretty strange. That's Don Hall, the head coach of the Gateway Gators athletic director at Gateway, Do stay with us coming up. "Yard line. Shotgun snap is coming back rolling the pocket toss play, They're gonna go halfback option throwing deep downfield. James Smith. He's got his Robert Dickerson catching a 34 yard strike from Indian to go in the opening quarter. North Hills is within two points of tying it up, and there's some of the excitement that we bring you on Friday night lights with our high school football coverage. This lead you up to Our Friday night game of the week here on the voice of Pittsburgh were high school football lives. Thanks for being with US Quest for the best high school football show dance angrily Eric Gasparovic, head coach of the Pine Richland Rams, Mike White of the Post Gazette. We'll be chatting with Don Hall here in just a moment. He's the Gateway head coach and athletic director. He'll be standing by in just a moment. Ah, a lot of big games coming up around the league. Mike. What's the biggest of the topics in high school football right now, for for our fans and listeners of high school football there that are just tuning in, catch everybody up to speed If you would Well, I think it's always been talking about number one. The crowd stand and number two was gonna have a baby I owe playoffs. I think those are the two things. Everybody's talking about it on the crowd's affect so many people, the fans Cheerleaders and everything. It's what everybody wants to know. And the other thing is the playoffs and hopefully we'll know a little bit more next week. Eric from a head coaches perspective. What is a top of your priority list? What are you thinking? About? Day and night? Yeah, Just keeping the kids safe, You know, and every day coming into the into the facility and you know, hoping and praying that you don't get that phone call, you know, making sure we're doing things right? You know, constantly driving home and I mean it. I'm sure my whole program is just sick and tired of all the messages. I'm sending about making sure we're doing the screenings and making sure your your you know, wearing your mask and all the stuff that you know we're trying to preach these kid. But Just doing things right. Wakes? I I am really, really convinced if you do things right way, and you take care of yourselves and, you know, hopefully it'll all work out. Mike, you did a big story in The Post Gazette, by the way, will be joined by Don Hall, head coach of the Gators athletic director is well, they're right in the throes of covert 19 with postponements and cancellations because Of a positive test right around this time last week, But last week you mentioned Mike in the PG that there are a number of W P A L kids in the NFL and performing in an extremely high level right now, to the point where it becomes a little surprising, and I think I hear in this region. We almost forget about the factory that we are and the success stories that we do indeed have Yeah, and I on opening day running active players Act like mild. Sanders was active opening day. But this is from the NFL offices. They would please up every year and I got Pennsylvania's list from them. But on the opening day roster is 18 for Kyle players that we're after. Like Benvenuti, a former quarterback was an active, um, and that's pretty much an average number nowadays. I mean, you know, I went back and it was like the mid to high twenties. About 67 years ago. John Hammond had all those players until still has three. I think the interesting part is before I sit you just reported. There are surprises some surprises. I think that Maybe on NFL teams that we may be the thing coming out of high school. Someone like just awash in with Tampa Bay. You know he gets in the receiver set. Ah, number of times. We've got four guys playing with Tom Brady it which is absolute, really incredible. That is absolutely incredible on the guy that we had on others program just a couple of weeks ago, Ben DeNucci that played for Eric. At pine ritual. Well, one guy that I think a lot of folks believe as a strong potential. Maybe even a likelihood of playing on Sundays is a guy that plays on Fridays right now for the Gateway Gators, however, when he'll be back on the field that remains to be seen. The Gateway Gators with a positive Covad test last week has shut everything down and is a matter of fact. It's really had implications on the entire athletic scope in Monroeville, and we're happy to be joined on our disk Institute of Pittsburgh News Line right now by Dawn Hall, the athletic director at Gateway High School, also the Gators football coach. Coach, Don thank you so much for joining us. Ah, I would imagine you were about is busy and and up to your eyeballs. And who knows what right now? Considering the circumstances, So we appreciate you joining us Dare I ask what it's like being Don Hall athletic director and football coach during this time? Well, you know, I mean, I think you got to keep some perspective. I mean, All things considered. We don't have anybody that you know, been hospitalized or worse. You know nobody In a bad, bad way. And you know there are lots of people are suffering a lot worse than we are. And I am, but it's been certainly little bit crazy a little bit hectic. Most recently, just things like trying to reschedule. Ah lot of other sports that we temporarily shut down. And try to get that all worked out all the little things like No referees and then used and things like that all at the match up, and we're just trying to get all those other sports, you know, back on track, but all things considered hard to complain. You know, not ideal, but certainly not as bad as many might have right about now. Got my quite here. How you doing, sir? You know I was going to ask you talked to so many coaches and athletic directors through this thing on and even some coaches in some other sports in it, And I'm not trying to put you on the spot here. But the way things are Halliday's Is it hard? To accept and get your hands around that one case, a team to shut down everything for 14 days. How is that it is that hard to accept as a coach and athletic director. Well, I wouldn't. I guess you could say it's hard to accept, but more than being hard to accept. It's hard to sort of. It's really hard to worry about. You know, it doesn't take much, Teo to put everything to a screeching halt. So you know you're Everybody has to be super diligent. Everybody has to try toe. Stay on top of all the protocol, you know, with masks and distancing and being smart outside the facility, but You do all that and you still might have a positive case. And if you do it still It's such a contagious deal and such a concerning thing, Teo to all of us that, um the only thing you can do is hit the pause button to try toe. Try to stop it in its tracks and or get it out of your your team all together, so it's frightening. Ah, and then you talk about other things like The asymptomatic part. You know, we're all afraid that we might have young people who may have it, but don't know it. Um we all so afraid that you know, maybe we've had some people that Um, you had mild symptoms and didn't want to. Maybe go get tested out of their own. You know, idea that they didn't want to be the one that shut it down. So the fearful thing that you have is Is that it's there, and you really don't have any control over it. You know, we spend a lot of time talking about control you can control and coaches worry about every eventuality and every little detail of what Friday night might look like Oh, you get zero control over The reality of this thing other than you know, doing the things you can do to try to prevent it from spreading within your team. Don hall is with us. He's the head football coach at Gateway High School, also the Gators athletic director. He joins us on our quest for the best high school football program. Dan's angrily post cause that's Mike White with Eric Gasparovic. What's up, Don, How's it going, buddy? Been been better, Um Hey, man, I kind of think like you said..

K. RT hoes got out those guys just went gangbusters out yet a terrific powerhouse mourn him and Jack Oliver was over there in the in those people and you just and so now he's our he's my competitor and my stages of all you got to be K. K. RT and ratings and I'm sure they're all this and I'm gonna read tell you why in the ratings in gold but you know that kind of stuff it in radio that didn't matter we don't I wouldn't say we're competitive but then we are but when you get off there were just a bunch of people who have the same thing in common we like to be on the radio yes Sir yeah that I remember listening to all that when I was growing up thank you those are powerhouse morning shows very entertaining and that day is a standout theirs as a PA announcer and Wichita state I had I don't I've never been to a lot of arenas around the country you have you been to a few and I can so I have nothing to compare him to but except that I every now and then I'll hear somebody on on something that the screen and then you can tell they're annoying carrying annoying people and don don was not have knowing he you know he did the job and he did it well I was interviewed by couple television stations yesterday anyone know about something and I try to make this point and I don't know I think I made it with you you're on the air but here but I try to make this move that that the professional the professional real professional does is prep he doesn't preparation help Mike Kennedy is before he goes well yeah does his game and done resisting and us when you listen to those people they make it just sound easy yeah it sounds so easy well and then you take it for granted but those people do a lot of work before they hit the airwaves yeah it sounded good the couple years ago they told us was giving a speech and said the same thing there's another guy all about represent voice of the chiefs so there you go and don we miss you already buddy sure do I miss coming around the corner and morning saying good marking don and hearing him say good morning Steve the second happen again so anyway thank bill will go on and try to be good but try to careers at Donnelly problem yes bless his heart yeah I miss him dearly missed that voice yes right seven forty one now and keep it for editor bill Roy of the Wichita business journal money for paycheck protection all the way Stephen dead on K. and SS let's say you just.

"Reporting is jed says an effect for the cities of your bump into somebody. And you can it's everything's drivable and everything. Final next report later. But they, but right now, let's go ahead and talk about that a little bit now westbound on Kellogg around hillside somewhere like that it was around. I want thirty five they've they've actually stopped people getting on at say they've opened back. Okay. Yeah. They're letting people back on it hillside. All right. So. I think it's a deal where a couple lanes of Kellogg or shut maybe it's down to one lane at Keller westbound Kellogg at I can't get through the people can't get through now. Okay. And it's one of those things where I heard the police officer cold exasperated, kind of all raises his voice. One of those. They get excited with when people start slamming into each other. Obviously, they got to keep things under control. Now. I'm pretty sure that was more than one accident. I think it was one accident that turned into more than drinking. Yeah. Yeah. And. When that kind of thing happens, of course, I don't think we've got any reports of any serious injuries. So far this morning. But anyway, people running into each other. So you've got your insurance card handy. Actually there were two fairly or one critical injury in an accident earlier this morning. That was down in south, Wichita. Woodland and Harry area. It's hours ago, it seems and I saw the trucks out yesterday. So I know the trucks were out treating. You know, just for all those things people. You gotta slow down a little bit us a little give somebody some rude there in front of you. And Don hall was saying when he drove across town on Kellogg earlier today, he had slowed down quite a bit. I'll bet it was getting pretty slick out there. So there you go. We'll keep you posted as well as we may hear this morning. The what's going on with traffic and weather as we always do Stephen Ted. "So being able to expand favor as amazing. I listen to your podcast the other day, and you had said something about that. There was sixty six percent of millennials than have anything saved for retirement. I'm thirty years old, so I guess I'm considered a millennial and it kind of started to worry me because we don't have anything safe for retirement, ten ninety, nine contractors we work for so and we have really kinda struggled back and forth with it. We really kind of hit snowball plan hearts, starting in January, more in baby. Step two. We started out with seventy seven thousand. We've got forty, three thousand dollars last stick. So I mean, I guess it just kinda worries me because we are thirty. We don't have anything sage, so should we just can. Continue to push through the baby steps and get to investing and stuff there, or should we be putting something aside on top of the babysat. Okay, fantastic. Christina. I appreciate you calling in because that's a real world scenario. You know, like you listen to the show, which I appreciate the support. You heard that stat you started to think about where you sitting and then you to started feeling a little bit discouraged or little bit panicked, but it's okay. That awareness thing to me is the crucial thing. Meaning that you see it, you knowledge it and what I want you to do is that a 'cause you and your husband to fueled through the baby steps. That's still the plan. I promise you, you all are ten ninety nine. What line of work are you in? Actually the mortgage field services. I Don hall. Okay. All right. So you're in that mortgage industry. So as a ten ninety, nine person, you don't necessarily have a cap on your income. So I want you all to get intentional about attacking baby step number two. And what I would want you to do this. Don't let. Let me talking about that topic or reading that article 'cause you to be discouraged. What I want you to do is let it cause you to be motivated. I want you to speed up and go forward a little bit faster, and so it's almost like taking discouragment or maybe fear and I'm gonna take it and I'm gonna mold it into motivation, right? If you those who watch the show, you can see me doing the face, right? I'm like, I'm like mold net, right? I'm twisted it because I wanna make sure I moving this fast as I can. And so Christina, don't be discouraged, motivated, stay focus, followed the baby steps in order. Go from baby step one to two all the way through. And again, demotivated you get the more faster.

"L I. Wow. Did you guys hear about this? There's a young Texas girl who she's only five years old has been hospitalized because she got stung by a Caterpillar. And the is now warning everybody that there's some real dangerous caterpillars out there. And I've never touched a Caterpillar. I just I've always instinctively know not to touch one because they look a little spiky. But maybe the memo isn't getting out to the new generations. So again, we need to let kids play outside to learn these things, unfortunately, but we don't want them stung it. Just don't really talk about don't touch that. Don't eat that don't touch that. Because they're never outside that our kids outside. Understanding what's out there in nature. Anyway. Guy. Sorry. Plane outside of daycare this week. Lauren chambers. The mom for them PC five that are five year old daughter Audrey was stung by a fuzzy looking asp Caterpillar known as the southern flannel moth, or plus Caterpillar p u s s that's the name of a Caterpillar and the creature must have fallen from a tree onto her young. Art. Devoutly delivered. They say a painful sting had to be hospitalized. They look soft. They have this fluffy looking like hair, but it's not so much hair hair. There's actually a little sharp spines along these caterpillars because caterpillars don't want to be eaten so nature made them such that they have these spines, and they can actually they're sharp enough to stick in your skin National Geographic report in two thousand fourteen. So they may look soft the asks fluffy looking hair actually, hide small sharp spines a six your skin eight plus Caterpillar sting feels or is it it's not pause because there's too as they say, it feels like a beasts thing only worse, the pain immediately and rapidly gets worse after being stung, it could even make your bones hurt. That's according to an entomologist from the university of Florida. Dr Don hall. Now daycare workers quickly removed. The embedded spies for the girls. Arm pulled them off tape the fight, then ensued with pain and swelling. And she has never heard of aspe- caterpillars part of what happened to her daughter. Apparently, they're common there in a lot of trees and plants. We have a North, Texas, the Ron oaks, rose, bushes, etc. So when winter comes in they go away, but let's let's talk caterpillars. I'm looking at some pictures. There's this rancor list on weird nature, and they have twelve caterpillars that could actually hurt or kill you. What is the giant silkworm moth, Caterpillar, it looks like it has little firms coming out of it? I don't know how porcupines porcupines mate. I don't understand how they do it with this spines. But anyway, fairly their native to South America. It's a very weird looking bug. And it's ends up becoming the giant silkworm off. It's considered to be one of the most dangerous caterpillars in the world. And they say the responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people. When you come in contact with their hair like bristles it injects deadly toxins. Now, they've also had cases of vomiting. Abdominal pain kidney failure. They say if you're ever in Brazil because their native to South America, and you see one of these crawling up to you do not Pettit or give any kiss, then we talk about the the plus Caterpillar, it is a very it looks off to and furry. But it's not these are bad. Then you have the saddleback venom. And I'm looking at this Caterpillar, and it looks like a saddle. It's very interesting. It looks like a sad over you could sit on it. Well, I mean, you you're too big to sit on it. And the spikes are in the front and the back now, apparently they roam the east coast of the US leaves, and they keep would be predators at bay because they are very flashy. They even have green there statal has this bright green on it. And remember anytime. There's a bright bright color on an animal that could be toxic. And they're covered in spines. They also inject poison causing migraine stomach pains. But can also put you at the end of plastic shock was very interesting, though is these saddleback venoms kid cause blood cells to lights causing you to hemorrhage and become anaemic. Then there's the cinnabar moth, Caterpillar. This is scary. This is slackened yellow the weeds. And they absorb toxins, and when they absorb toxins they remain in their body, and then can give them back to you. They say that the state can cause asthma attacks Hemmer, gene and kidney failure. It could also attack the cartilage in the bones. They are a possum Matic. Meaning the bright, orange color. Is it coloration is a warning that they are unsafe to eat again when they're very colorful. Oh, we learned today. A then you have the bag shelter caterpillars. These things are long. Oh my gosh. Their native to Australia, and it's pretty scary. And that they're called or co Gaster Luna for and they could cause horses to miscarry causing an equity Ambien night is which is an infection around the amniotic sac. Fluid, and I guess their spines contain an anticoagulant that causes you to not clot blood and therefore hemorrhage. So these things are pretty bad, and they look long they look long, and Harry, it's not a rope. Do not pick it up. There's also called the buck moth larvae. And these things they're actually beautiful. It looks like they have a bunch is the way their spines are set out. So it looks like looks like a bunch is which you know, they do to full predators. But they also have a real bad sting. The cold leukemia. Oblique, and unfortunately, you can put your dandruff relaxes deadly allergic reaction, then they have the hickory tussock Caterpillar this thing looks like a mink coat. It has beautiful white and black looking mink for or chinchilla. No, really bad. It's touch can cause death very dangerous to kids full-blown allergic reactions. You have a procession airy, Caterpillar, I don't know what to say about that. There's the mouth caterpillars they look like a rolled up spider again, very furry. We're kind of quickly going through these the monarch Caterpillar has yellow and black. I forget that what the snake. Yellow next to black friend of Jack red. I forget anyway when it comes to snakes, there's something with that. Anytime. I see something striped, I run, even if it's zebra, but rose, Caterpillar, the I'll moth, Caterpillar, these things are gorgeous, by the way, then spent a whole day talking about these. But anyway, real real bad stuff. So what do we do? Well, we need to do is. We need to have kids that play outside you need to be outside with them say don't touch this don't touch this and really talk to them about nature. The only nature of these kids really get is going to zoo. If there's a field trip. Or going to like a little habitat. Reserve or something I live in an area, which is really really cool. Because even though we don't have a zoo, we have something called the springs. Preserve? And so you get to kind of get up to animals a little bit up close like little bugs and stuff, but they need to. They can't just see it in glass kids. Don't learn that way. This one is just fell out of a tree. But see I was always taught never played under a tree. To avoid the tree Mavis because the lightning Meza's goes things fall on it. Maybe they're worried about coconuts. I really don't know because I never lived in nearest coconuts. But I was always taught you know, you know, you and trees have bugs on him. So I was always taught to play out of the grass where everybody could see me. Maybe it's because my mom thought that a bad guy could hide behind a tree in the grab you. But I was always taught never to play by treat now mind. You I grew up in Arizona. So our trees were sore a cat die. And so you play by cactus, you get hurt. So when the desert we learned to stay away the heck away. Fact, we used to.
