Even those we perceive to be the best of us or not without warts. We all make mistakes and some of us learn from those mistakes, but many of us do not seemingly doomed to repeat those same mistakes. Infineon the politically correct culture we live in today is not humanity being its best by any stretch of the imagination. I dare say we are seeing ourselves at our worst. We are called up in the outrage as if we've been destined to perpetually be pissed off about something or someone Liam Niessen actor best known for his taken series of movies. Among other things was explaining time in his life to a reporter. When he spent a week walking up and down the street with a club, hoping a black man would give him calls. To beat him to death. This reaction was in direct connection to a close friend being raped by someone. She said was black. I'll tell you a story. This is true. Knocker use. Any names ISO and make him bike. And she told me she'd been raped but see handle the situation of the rape, mostly star me. But my immediate reaction was. I asked the did, you know, you know, what color are they? Were they she said it was black person. I've been done Aereas the cauti-. Been. I'd be. Approved by some I'm ashamed to say. I did it for maybe a week hoping some. Like bastard would commit of a pub and a go of me of something. So I could. Kill. Took me week. Maybe we have to kinik overnight. Mcgrady going some just for walk wrong. Sure. Horrible horrible. When I think back, but I did that I've never admitted that Senator journalists forbid. But I did learn a lesson from eventually the fuck you doing, you know. And I come from a society agree up our Northern Ireland troubles. And you know, I I knew a couple of guys that died at hunger strike and acquaintances. Very caught on the troubles on. I understand the need for revenge. But it just leads. Two more veins and more killing more killing in Ireland. All the stuff that's happening in the world of the violence is proof of that. So. So, but that's young prime lead. I understand that. And now, of course, there's outrage forget the fact that the man admitted his shame and forget the fact that he admitted he was raised in an area enduring time that made him understand the desire for revenge. Apparently, we must forget all that in focus on a singular word a term a label that is tossed around as casually as gifts on Oprah's. Former talk show. Racist. I'm so fucking tired of this recreational outrage culture we live in today. We're in a world today that many only see in two colors black or white. There are no graze here. It's binary you're either a one or zero in you can't be anything else. If one is good zero was bad. You suddenly shift from being a one to being zero. Well, sucks to be you. You're now a big it a racist a privileged asshole with no path to redemption, the world has simply gone fucking mad. Mary Poppins a childhood favourite for many not me with a sequel that came out in two thousand eighteen in two thousand nineteen now considered racist due in part to a scene in the nineteen sixty four version where they came out of a chimney with soot on their faces the point of contention Mary takes out her compact and freshens up by smearing the soot around her face a bit holy shit. It's black face racist. There apparently are other points of outrage in the sequel, but they're just too damn stupid to talk about please someone tell me that this is all satire we all make mistakes. We all are products of our raising our environments, and sometimes our environments are wrong and win. We're able to stand on our own two feet and decide for ourselves. That's when we can say this. This is a right. I know what I was taught, and I forgive those responsible. But this is how I see the world with my own eyes. Not those of my parents that was born in raised in the deep south from an early age. It was indirectly instilled in me, those of darker skin were lesser, they weren't as smart, and they were responsible for their or a quality of life. Many of them seem to have my grandmother would casually toss around the N word in public places. Typically restaurants, much to the embarrassment of my mother, if for no other reason than she didn't want to cause a scene, my grandparents, and my parents were products of their raising an environment. I'm not saying, it's right. I'm saying we should be able to understand into forgive. When the old guard realizes their mistakes and attempts to do better, my wife, and I did our best to instill in our children better behavior to look at. People for what's on the inside not the outside. Character matters skin color. Does not personally I'm not a zero or a one I'm something in between because life in the world is not black or white as a society, we grow, and we learn that's the point. It does us. No good to shun someone for what they did what they said ten twenty thirty or even fifty years ago, unless they still hold those beliefs and thoughts or what they did was a crime at the time. Otherwise, what's the point of evolving and becoming better? I'm starting to think that recreational outrage is an athlete descriptive term for what seems to be bored. Men and women trying to entertain themselves in virtue signal at the same time by tempting to make themselves feel better about themselves. I have a suggestion for recreational outrage IRS before you, call someone L Schick yourself and make sure you have solid footing before you leap. Someone who doesn't watch any sports or follow or. Okay. Let's be honest. I I really don't give a shit about sports. I do find this is a bit interesting number fifty three hit a ten year low in the ratings which were already headed downward for the fourth straight year. It was also the lowest scoring Super Bowl in history. Thirteen to three patriots over Rams. I do love me some statistics. Many people watch the game for the commercials. They're almost a bigger vent than the game itself. And we good reason the average cost of a Super Bowl. Fifty three commercial was five point two million dollars for a thirty second spot. That's one hundred seventy three thousand three hundred thirty three dollars and change per second. For us to watch Harrison Ford in an Amazon echo, commercial, an inspirational piece for Microsoft in Jason Bateman, go up and down a damn elevator. Cost of a commercial for the very first Super Bowl in nineteen sixty seven forty two thousand dollars. Anna sounds low. Right. Well, if you adjust that for inflation and twenty eighteen dollars some would say the five point two million would be a steal because at forty two thousand dollars in nineteen sixty seven would be forty two million. And some change in twenty eighteen that's a seven hundred and ten percent. Cumulative rate of inflation. What I find even more interesting is with the amount of money spent on these commercials to air during one of the most watched events in the United States annually the commercials actually debuted online. I. Why what's the point? Now, I haven't seen any of the commercials from this year's game, nor do I care too. So you tell me did you watch the big game this year or did you do something actually constructive with your time? What about those commercials? Did you see them I on TV or online and which ones where your favorites? And finally, are you a maroon five hater not sure where the hail that backlash came from? But you'd think Nickelback was playing the halftime show. That's it. For this episode of Don to-, follow the show on Twitter at the Don talk show on Facebook.
