And I remember to this day I was like, 12 years old to be 62 September, But those Pittsburgh pirates fans what there must must get happy. Yeah, well, woman, they werewolf in us. Events came up and he hit a ball that was clearly out. It was left of the foul pole, and it was like a corrective collective groan. Oh, my God. And he has that next fall, And I'm never seen Ben hit a home run straight away that thing. What? Straight away to center field. Unfortunately, that was brutal Committees last game. But when it just fairly clear, dispense and shit, I sort of got I think that the concrete shook in that place. Oh, wow. I never felt anything like that in my wife And then Perez hit a single foster, who wasn't even a regular Tensions run for Perez. He scored the winning run on a wild pitch, but you talk about a memory. Oh, my gosh, I'll never forget that I live outstanding. And how old will you Rick? How old were you? I was 12 at the time. Yeah, I'm gonna be 62 September, but, you know, my late mother was there and uses can't take us like Sparky so close that when they closed the place down me and my mother with that softball game You're not well, not scape, not certainly ahead of myself. The last game was Sparky spoke, he said, bigger tear this place down, but I can't tell where the memories You know, once said any better. You're exactly right. Sure. I love your show, man. In fact, I'm on my way home to enjoy it after umpiring a tournament for a couple of days all day long. Enjoy it Beautiful, eh? Couple things one. I'm from comas. I played with the team called Thomas. All Americans in high school. Okay, It was summer baseball, probably one of the Ah lead level travel team starting to come around, and we used to have some of the most average battles. With the king down your way in Cincinnati called the Cincinnati Reds and just sat order. Every night. We play each other. We played each other, often at a young man named Pete Rose Jr was on that team. And, uh, we just course no one would miss out on who he is. But we just had great. I got a chance by division to college baseball on and on. But my greatest memory with a compass. All Americans, we were treated like kings. My memory out what I vision when I just think about baseball and I closed my eyes. I'm in a front row. The Red seats game to the World Series Bob that bidding Joe Oliver. Gratitude Ball down the left field line. Foreign Billy Fate for the Wind O in tow tow. Watch that again on Fox Sports, Ohio. The replay Josh. Just awesome, wouldn't it? Oh, man, just amazing against you, the chills and the thrills all over again and you will get a chance to see that with this aim this year, Mike, what was incredible and watching. The World Series victories for the Reds. How how The manager's kept his starters in the game so long and how different it is in today. Unbelievable. That I get a planning bringing Oh, what they go to the next guy? Well this year, man, it's like every game is like a World Series game. They're going to use multiple pictures..

"But one season ah, member of the Lexington Legends, Public Relations staff came and invited the beat riders to come down. For a game. So Kevin going into the Cincinnati Post and I, we got together and checked out a game on a Saturday night. I believe what you did Friday or Saturday night. It just had a blast at the elections and Legends game and they did a promotion that I absolutely love would love to see more of it. And that is after alleged hit a home run, and there were two or three home runs hit. There was a guy sitting in the box seats behind home plate near the nearthe Legends dugout. The kid would come out after his home run tip his cap. The guy would take his cap in Rome. This seats the box seats from third base to first. Your first to third base behind the dugouts and right in that area there and collect money and folks were tipping him, You know, putting a dollar $5 whatever in this guy's cap And then the guy racing around the stadium, hands the ball player his cap with the money in it. Is a is a tip for hitting a home run. I thought that was so cool. I was hoping that the Dayton Dragons would do something like that. And I don't know if they did or not. But I just thought that was really cool. And that was my memory of Ah. Going to a legends game and really an awesome promotion. But what I'd like to know is where did you play Little League Baseball, Not whole baseball. In suburban Cincinnati. What field? What do you remember about it? The chick stir grew up early on Grand Avenue, right up the street from Holy Family Church in school, And then we moved in 1960 when I was in the first grade to ST William. At the We lived at the corner West Eighth and Rosemont. We had a hoop in our driveway, Little driveway, legend and the ball. We set up a fence. My dad did, but the ball would bounce And the next thing I know I am racing down west, a street trying to chase our basketball. But anyway, Jem See Park US camp. Dell Hi Junior High del High Park into Rome. Those fields in Boldface Park, which became Pete Rose Park. Now it's back to bold face down on the river. Ah umpired played down there many, many times so Hey, Where did you would love to hear from you? Where did you play Little League Baseball. And what do you remember about it? Man was a candid park in Redding. Was it Yeah. Where you and Ah, but I'm travelling around and going to a lot of different places. Man, Wittenberg University beautiful. Baseball stadium. Wow, He's just awesome. But I've been to Riverside Park. I've even going out to beach acres in Anderson Township toe umpire but have no field in white oak. And Waterworks Park and Fairfield. Fairfield is just unbelievable. The number ofthe baseball fields and stadiums and That's where the job Joe Nuxhall Miracle Field in Fairfield, Man Just Ah! Riverside Park on round bottom, rode all over the place, so we've been staying busy and that hiss really helped fill the void. With no major league baseball. Coming up to the top of the hour. Don amrhein. He's coming in studio veteran fast pitch softball coach and instructor and really looking forward to talking to don And He's also a terrific umpire. But he's the head Girls softball coach at ST Ursula Academy, and he also has ties to the Reds working with the Youth Academy. And ah, the Cincinnati Bengals. So looking forward to having don in studio. It's awfully awfully hot out outside, man. Be sure to hydrate, but it's so good to see the Reds back at you know, part half the team is a great American ballpark. The other half is it Presque au Park. I wonder what is going through the mind of Aristide Ease, Aquino. I'm not saying he's been banished to Fresco Park, but to hear, you know, Nick crawl, the general manager and Reds officials talk about roster balance and everything, though Punisher. Maybe there's not enough work for him at Great American ballpark. Maybe they need him at fresco. I just I just kind of We shake in my head that he's to me. It just sounds like he's getting cast aside here and, yeah, he had an unbelievable August. He struggled in September. But let's not forget The awesomeness. That is, and was, and is, and hopefully will be Aristides Aquino, looking forward to the 60 game sprint for the Reds and really looking forward to Extra innings. Putting the runner at second base. I love it as soon as they talked about that. That's what happens in fast pitch softball. It's called the TB, the international tiebreaker rule. Whoever makes the last out or if this say the number seven batter is due up in the order Number six goes to second base number seven batteries up. And you conjugate decided that way and I absolutely love it is going to be a roller coaster. It's going to be, you know, Ryan type moment. With the excitement of extra innings coming to Major League Baseball. Hates.

"They probably win two of those three games if they stick with Andy Dalton. I think Zach is still the same guy. He's probably smarter a little bit wiser. I think he learned a lot as a play caller will be the first to tell you that he wasn't very good in the Red zone last year. I think that will be the biggest difference we see this year. But I don't. I don't see a big change in him as faras personality wise or outlook scheme. Anything like that. He is who he is on. I think Bengal fans could be glad about that. Yeah, and, yeah, I'm sure it was a big time learning experience for him. He's definitely gonna grow from that from a writer standpoint, J. Morrison These have been easier or more difficult to cover the club remotely during a virus pandemic. Yeah, way more difficult. In the in the off season. The way it works for us. You wants a week you were down there for. Okay, There's an open locker room. You could wash practice. Uh, there There was zero access this year than the last time the Bengal had any kind of media availability was made a talk about the schedule. Now it doesn't mean We were able to reach out to those guys on our own. If you have a player's number, if you have the coach's number, or the media relations will help you. If you want to get in touch with a toast. They put me in coach with Jim Turner for an article I did on the offensive line. In terms of just having those guys right there on a regular basis when you can just walk up in the locker room and kind of chat up the rookies or chat up any player. None of that happened so that we had to get creative this offseason, which is one of the reasons that you saw the 20 most memorable moments in programmed holograms Stadium. 20 year history Absolutely, Jr. Story lines that you're really looking forward to when the players to get on the field and I would imagine Joe Burrows grasp of the offense in his leadership ability. Gotta be high on the list. Yeah, That's number one, obviously. But you mentioned Jonah Williams to see how he looks coming off the injury and the little bit of practice he got last year. Flip it over the right side. Right tackle Fred Johnson. Bobby Hart. That's that's the most interesting Position battle in my mind, and then what's gonna happen at linebacker? They draft three other seven picks they spend on linebackers. They also dread they also find Josh finds in free agency. Mom. It is the position ofthe biggest need on this team. And you know, outside of Germain Pratt, who really kind of came on at the end of last year, is rookie year last year. Linebackers wide open, and that's going to be a really interesting Competition. This training camp is even seventh round pick markets. Bailey, That's 1/3 or fourth round guy. He's healthy well. He wasn't healthy, but he didn't fall behind. Because if they had th then Yeah, he falls behind. Everybody else is on the field doing work, and he's not. But nobody was on the field doing work if he comes into training camp healthy. He could steal one of those spots. I wouldn't surprise me at all. All great stuff, J Man. I know you're ready to head out on vacation. What a weak weak from now, man. Enjoy yourself. Police say hi to your daughter, Vada for me, and I look forward to seeing her at Hamilton Garfield Middle school this fall. Yes. Second year teachers. He's looking forward to it. I'll tell her you said Hello. All right, Awesome. J thanks so much, man. Thank you all right, really appreciated and like I mentioned at the top of the show. Tater Chip Pratt, Tonight's producer. We wish you Ah, just awesome Fourth of July weekend, we know that it's hot and Ah, I realized the heat today because I owe umpired three girls fast pitch softball softball games at the chaos tournament in northern Kentucky, and I'll be there the next two days. So Well, we're just getting started here, man. We're going talk baseball. And we're going to talk at the top of the eight o'clock hour. Mike Dyer is going to join us to talk about the challenges. Not only that the coaches in the players of high school sports this fall feel How about the referees and The umpires and sports officials and Mike gonna have to wear gloves, a face covering and use a hand held the buzzer. Whistle device for volleyball this fall. That's what I want to know. And Mike Dyer is goingto tryto explain all that to us in the eight o'clock hour. We're having an in studio guest here at seven o'clock, Don amrhein. Johnny Great story. He's got ties to both the Bangles and reds but a long time fast pitch softball coach an instructor and he's going to talk about the Cincinnati Ridge's Youth Academy, where he where he works. It's closed right now. It'll start back up. Hopefully this fall in September and a don He's going to join us for an hour in studio and a lot of great insight. Coming from him, so we're.
