Fresh update on "dodgers " discussed on Effectively Wild: A FanGraphs Baseball Podcast

"Surgery and then ultimately ends up missing more time than they theoretically could have if they had had surgery immediately, which is not to say that he was mishandled or mistreated or anything. Sometimes it does make sense to wait and try alternative treatments and occasionally that will pay off and there are certain times when it doesn't really matter because of the calendar anyway and so you're going to miss a certain amount of time regardless, but that's always frustrating it was for me as a fan when it was like not only did we lose this guy for a while, but maybe if he had gone under the knife sooner, easy for fans to say, hey, go get a new liquid in your elbow immediately. No, but it can be frustrating when you feel like not only is he gone for a while now, but if we had started the clock sooner on this thing, if somehow we had known what would happen and we had not waited for a few months, then he'd be a few months closer to returning, but you know he was less effective before he was hurt and then he was hurt in a more acute way and I believe he said that what had ailed him in that start had not been ailing him previously about his fastball was a lot less effective and who knows maybe there was some underlying weakness there that was taking a toll. So Dodgers pitching, I mean they are often losing pitchers and somehow finding more and Kershaw of course is hurt too, although Dustin may is about to be back and I believe his scheduled to start Saturday, so you lose one pitcher to TJ, you get one back. So that's something. I mean, it makes the Mitch white deal look a little funnier in retrospect, which, you know, I think your mileage can vary on how much of the load he was necessarily going to carry, but it is depth that they dealt away. And now they are reliant on Kershaw coming back and being healthy and Dustin may not get hurt again, which I don't say, obviously hoping he stays healthy and not knowing anything special or inside, but it's just like this guy was broken recently so the odds that he's going to be broken again are like nonzero at the very least. So, you know, we spend a lot of time talking about the Dodgers wanted depth and how they have all this length in their lineup and now max muncy looks like he's getting it together again and who will stop them and it's like maybe themselves like maybe the answer will just be that they will take too many hits in the rotation and be compromised not in an I don't think they're in danger of losing that division. I don't think that they're even in danger of getting played out of a first round buy, but I think that it does. It certainly complicates their postseason pitch pitching picture. I'm not tired, I'm not like, you know? I'm doing fine. I'm drinking a seltzer. I have water anyway. Just one of those days where my tongue is moving faster than my brain. But anyhow, you know, I think that they have a more complicated October picture. Oh

It's Not Easy Being a Radio Star

"21 minutes after the hour America continue my conversation with the legendary Dodger broadcaster Vin Scully. And sky, how hard is it to get that first gig in broadcast? Well, again, fake play the hand. There was a lovely girl on the campus who was a friend of mine, not a girlfriend, but a friend named McGee, marguerite Clark, and marguerite said, I will type up letters and we'll send them out to radio stations, and I said, okay, let's start from Maine to Florida. And so we had a big book called a broadcast magazine, and it listed all of the stations that you addressed the East Asian managers name, et cetera, and she began typing up the letters, and we came to Washington, D.C., WTO, a.m. and FM, which is a 50,000 watt station. That's the major league. It doesn't get any bigger and brighter than that. So I said to McGee as we called her, McGee, we better skip that. That's too big a station. And to date the story, she said, look, it's only going to cost another three cents stamp. So we put a three cent stamp on this 50,000 watt station letter, mailed it off, and I received a lot of answers from other stations basically saying no job or listen pal. This is a big station and you're coming off a college campus station, which it was not. It was an FM station. But anyway, WTO P said please send an audition disk. So I sent a disk down containing the various bits and pieces of on air broadcast and the next thing I know I received a phone call and the phone call said we would be interested in meeting you, we don't hire anyone site unseen. So I went down to Washington or auditioned again live and got the job. That is

"I want to talk more about Nancy Pelosi's husband because that was very intriguing and as a former police officer I get very interested in stuff like this. So I have the case report here at least not the case report. I have the text from the complaint that was made against mister Pelosi and I'm going to go through some generalizations or summaries from this particular complaint. So according to the complaint that was made against mister Pelosi that the vehicles that were in a collision at ten 15 p.m. had major collision damage. When a police arrived on the scene, mister Pelosi was still bucketing the seat belt in his Porsche. And when the police officer walked up to him and asked him for his identification, he ended over his driver license along with a card that says 1199 foundation. According to the 1199 foundation website, it provides emergency assistance to California highway patrol employees and scholarships to their children. Donation levels show that the membership card is provided for a minimum gift between 3000 to a $100,000.

More on the Legacy of Vin Skully

"But until then I want to play a Montage that continues to speak of the legacy of Vince Scully. Hi everybody in a very pleasant opening day. It's goosebump time. Here in Dodger Stadium. Vin Scully was the greatest broadcaster in baseball that there ever was. Maybe the greatest sports broadcaster. There ever was. One strike away. Sandy into his wind up. I've been around a lot of professional athletes and a lot of broadcasters over the years. One guy who I was in awe of has Vince Scully. In a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened. There was just something to the tone of Vince voice. That, you know, it was exciting. Behind the back. Here comes 9 in the match winning. Exciting and yet soothing. Perhaps the most beautiful and dramatic moment in the history of sports. Let there be a prayer for every life. And wherever you are, maybe you in silent tribute to camp and I can also say a prayer for his well-being.

Vin Scully's Voice Will Live On

"I want to speak about a man who just in a short period of time that I've been researching him is, in my opinion, one of the greatest voices of sports entertainment, one of the great, greatest voices, period. Someone who has a parent integrity, people love him. I can tell you what, when I was growing up, I didn't hear about him because I never watched baseball, but listening to Larry elder and people on the staff who are from Los Angeles, they tell me that Vince Scully was such an incredible man and has an incredible legacy and for those of you who may not know Vince Scully Vin Scully passed away, I believe he passed away last night. And I'm going to read a little bit of information about him and it's just that he was a Hall of Fame broadcaster. Whose voice provided the soundtrack to the summer while entertained, entertaining and informing Dodger fans and in Brooklyn in Los Angeles for 67 years. And he says he died Tuesday night as the team said, he passed away at the age of 94. So I want to play a couple clips just in memorial of Vince Scully and just to show my respect to him and a lot of my listeners that live in California that probably are familiar with him. Also, all around the country, I want to show my respect. So we'll play a couple clips from Vince Scully so you can get the normal little better if you don't already know. Wrote a clip. The only thing that helps me go in 67 years, as I said last night, is the grace of God. Let's face it. And that's out of my hand. The lord has blessed me. He gave me this job at such a youthful age, and allowed me to live and do it 67 years. What am I going to say? Darn it, why didn't I get number 68 or anything like that? No. I am totally at ease, I am so thankful, grateful. I've enjoyed every minute of it, believe me. Every minute.

Early Voting Is Key to Success in Arizona Race

"I'm going to be honest with you guys. I have no idea how Karen is even anywhere near carry. One reason is because I heard she put $20 million into a. Race that, you know, she had no business being there if you asked me. I mean, somebody, I guess, had to challenge the Trump Republican Kerry Lake. But Karen, in a primary, put an end to any $1 million is out of control. I never seen her anywhere on the campaign trail. She has no social media, and I say anywhere on the campaign trail, she's not in the circles that I'm in. Her people have never reached out to me for anything. Even before I supported Kerry, her team is never reached out to do anything with me or anybody else I know. I guess if you got enough money, you can be competitive. You don't even have to really have a good platform. You can jump in and raise late. You put 20 million in, you can be competitive and get 200,000 people to vote for you. But I was at Carrie Lake's party last night and the initial count care was down by like ten points. And I know a lot of people initially gave up on it. Which is weird to me, but they initially gave up on it. Some people thought the care is going to lose. But what people are not considering in this election in the primary and it's probably going to happen in the general. You're going to have people that do what we call early voting in the state of Arizona. A lot of people do early voting. Our participating early voting. And then the Trump lichens, I called him Trump against the Trump Republicans, believe that you should not vote early, meaning that you shouldn't send you vote through the mail. If you vote early, you take the early ballot, you fill it out, then you turn it in in person on election day, and that's what a lot of Republicans believe in, at least the trumps, because there's been so many issues with ballots being lost in the mail and all of the above, people literally physically need to go in, drop their ballot off.

Vin Scully Was Woven in the Fabric of the U.S.A.

"I think I can say with great confidence that this guy was the absolute greatest of all time. And more than that, Vin Scully was woven into the fabric of the USA. Once again, a standing ovation for Henry Aaron. Though the confrontation for the second time, Aaron walked in the second inning. He means the tying run at the plate now, though we'll see what downing does. Alice about delivers and his low ball one. And that just adds to the pressure. The crowd going, downing has to ignore the sound effect. And stay a professional in pitches game. One ball and no strikes, and waiting out for your deep and straight away, fast forward is a high 5 in the deep left center field, but they're both back to the city. That was Vin Scully, calling Hank aarons milestone milestone home run. When he passed Babe Ruth for the most career home runs with his 715th Homer, Vin Scully, the beloved voice of the Dodgers for 67 years. Passed away at the age of 94.

"Looks like. Let's throw our best against their best skull. Man did it last night. You pay one of the best right henderson baseball. What's up. we have breaking dodgers news. Actually okay you require the sounder. You can just hit one. Yeah we don't for using our system is just a one breaking new system this in response to the astros winning last night. John hayman says breaking dodgers closing in on a deal for cole. Hamels great okay. Aunt i said drinking irish me and said breaking dodgers closing on a deal for washed pitcher. Okay cole hamels at one point was one of those guys. Meaning a big time difference maker. All the teams are putting together. These teams that are Near the all star team two thousand thirteen. Did you know that. Us's bringing back running back from the sixties out. They're just not going to bring back harman's going back to play quarterback for ucla. Forget troy leaving old guys. Oh yeah yeah. We're doing at the lakers. And listen cole. Hamels may give you a minute. And all all respect to to cagey they'd be buried. L. a career thirty seven years old and he wasn't good last season as one start and he looked up. You'd really physically taken a nosedive. And i was reading something about scouts and went to a showcase the other day and they were kind of like some of them were like i was expecting more or he has nothing left or he has a little bit more than i was expecting left i. He's very good at listen. And i respect his career. It's been a really good one. I don't know what's left in the tank and if he can give you a little bit okay. But i'm not sure that's real breaking news that's called well. We added a a warm body. And hopefully we'll get something out of him. That's no disrespect to his career. But it it. I don't think it really poses a threat on the national league pennant. You know exactly what you talking about shifts the balance completely. Yeah the balanced baron okay. It's all dodgers all the time cole hamels but over the course career. He's been phenomenal. they broke them. They panicked and they signed an old washed pitcher. I thought you were gonna come breaking news. At did scherzer's he's been scratch. I'm like oh bummer. Because we don't get to see him but okay that increases the astros chances tonight but this a hell of a match up and i'm glad that this they'd have to deal with any like big time starter that everybody's going to be there and we're going to get it on and get the best of the best tonight on a wednesday night Speaking of which we got the best the best. We get our callers and our listeners and there is no no no show in a country gets the fun insight and smart impactful listeners. And callers we get that may be hyperbolic to some. We love him here and we got air. Have you are welcome in on how you doing. Y'all what's up sean buddy. I'm about twenty seven years old. I've been playing baseball since. I was like five years old and i've played that watched it. I love it my favorite sports. I've always paid attention to it a lot. And the only thing. I like compared to astros and dodgers series Nowadays to back then like in the early committed to is like. I know you're a red sox fan but do you remember to read something the yankees series back then now all right there dude my man i do i remember him. I've been in red apart. Oh yeah i've been in fenway park for four game series with the yankees and the socks and Yeah i i. I've i've spent time talking to reggie jackson about it. I've sat down and talked to willie randolph about those. I've witnessed him with my own eyes. Yeah hell yeah and the only the only difference is they get to do it. A bunch of times a year right the astros the astros and dodgers which may even make it more intense. Because you don't see him in short bunch of you know. Oh we only get one heavyweight bout five or however many times a year during the regular season and then you get them in this world series again where yankees red sox hell you can have your playing game after game after game but yes the intensity last night and what we've seen. Recently from dodgers astros havi is equivalent to that regular yankees red sox whether it's hatred by the fan. Base is anger competitiveness. players fights brushback pitches on the. Yeah yeah no question. The intensity matches no question about it. Yeah one more thing it's It's on the dodgers With the dodgers gang. Max scherzer I don't know if y'all heard anything more about Trevor bauer but i really think her bars in In a big pile of you know what because I haven't heard about the guy in week now. But last i heard he got he got suspended for like another month or so or something like that again for that point. I really think the mlb knows he did something really bad. And i mean. I think we might not even see pitching the dodgers uniform again. Who knows even pitching. Emma be again. Who knows we'll see but not me. I gotta go back to work by now. I'm gonna keep on listening on the way to work and thanks for the good show sean. Keep it on tax. Avi appreciate it. Yeah get back to out and we don't want you get in trouble. We kind of like the took a little sidestep and called us in great point about rivalries and the intensity evident as far as bauer goes. I he's destructively was ended. He's being paid and not play via. Hey good he's not gonna be playing anymore. They're they're investigating him and the situation. Should i say what's going on. He is getting paid. And there's a chance. He may never pitch dodger uniform again. Who knows it's above our pay grade on house what the severity is. When you read about it it's a. It's so uncomfortable to read. And it's it's awful but again they're going to go through this. But i'm not sure you're going to see him pitch for the dodgers again this year if you if you do i know. Mc and tyler real quick. Would you be more shocked. If you did or didn't see impinging more shocked. If i did agree. Definitely tyler. Me and i'm not sure it sitting well with many of the dodgers as well. I'm not sure as good as he can be on the mound. It almost feels like with the did it did they can do without. It is players as well. I'm not. I don't want to speak for them. But that's just my opinion on how it feels right. Let's get to my my guy. Beat the big dog and i know he'll come with some opinion. Larry what's up man. Welcome in what's going on sun emcee You know it. It's been a minute man. I just been dealing with some stuff trying to make sure my mom is all right man and i tell you brother i know the feeling. "The top three players in baseball. He's that good. He hasn't played like that this year. He's been like a big term in baseball. Is war wins above for ya. Mookie betts has been adult this year below average. He's been like he hasn't been mookie. Betts and brian assuming it's because of the hip but so think about this. If you get half of bellinger back half of bets back kershaw comes back. You trade started. Because i'm not counting on. Trevor bauer and dustin maze hours gone. Dustin maze gone for the year. So you know. Let's say you get a you get yours or berrios or somebody to help. Shore up the pitching staff. And you get half of those guys back cory seager. Who is our best player in the postseason last year. Giving you nothing yeah. World series mit. There's three guys. I've mentioned who are arguably the three best guys on our team. Offensively seger bellinger bets. Nothing out of all three of them and having said that they've won sixty of their first one hundred games. Yeah yeah so. There's some how i don't know how they've been sort of glue and tape and held together and somehow ripped for that stupid way. They lost last night but the causes not lost. Like even this series. They could win tonight. Walker it's walker birthday today and he's nice on his birthday. Yeah he's their best pitcher right now. I think. I think if i if you made me bet this game. Tonight i bet on the dodgers. Yeah giving us history and game seven. I mean he knows how to pitch in a key situation and out. They need some luck and they need to get some of these injuries healed. But somehow they're staying. In it. Dave roberts little things as what is what. Make a difference in when you're in a really close race and they're not doing a little couple of rumors from john. Paul morosi. these are in the last couple of hours anyway. Sources max scherzer. Trade talks have continued to intensify and those close to the conversation. Believe a deal could be reached by late tonight. Giants dodgers padres are the top suitors. Giants dodgers padres are the top suits and by the way vegas still favors the dodgers to win the whole thing. Yeah oh yeah. I don't know how but also favored the dodgers to get mac shirts. No actually the mets are favored. The dodgers are the second pick. Well bug matt kimbrell him. Here's another interesting nugget. Dodgers have spoken with the cubs about multiple players enclosure. Craig kimbrel is among them. Who else are they talking about. Talking about kris bryant. No i think and this would be pretty radical. But i think they might be talking about hobby buyers because because scott. Boris represents cory seager. And he's going to be really hard to sign so if they could get by as one of those guys would move to second for this year and then at the end of the year you make a choice moving forward. Do you wanna talk by. I think they're talking about kyle hendricks from their starting rotation who's twelve and four right now and has had a pretty good. You're not a great year. It's got a three eighty five. Era but he is twelve and four. But i think yeah yeah so that there are a number of options there but multiple players may be with the cubs. All right coming up. Next the simone biles thing sort of wrapped up when she dropped out of the individual competition so she dropped out of the team competition now the individual competition because of mental health issues. We'll get to that coming up next. Mason ireland seven ten. Espn god you know. I am sitting here trying to write a song about you. I cannot do it. Yeah you're using for at chaka version but you can use it. You can write a song too it too like original song twinkle twinkle little. John you could do. You could do a whore. Hey hor hey it's your birthday use. The swag system in your foot is fat. Hey cheat game games and you love.

This for. these guys azure list yourself sensor creditor never told them to do that correct Super bowl ratings down about ten percent ten fifteen percent which man no wonder what a what a what a bad game it was terrible game was really he was like oh man ridiculing mahomes as the baby goat and homes man what happened he fell apart. Just everything fell apart with that guy. Everything was well. I mean this is hooked a couple of things for bet the betting class out there. This was always signal for people inside because they can't tell everybody at the games rig This happened when the when the tampa bay team played the oakland. Raiders the raiders surreal. Key offensive player was the center. Who has bipolar guy that somebody got him. Hooked up with a hooker the night before and took him off his meds and a guy was didn't play in the game. He was there at a second backup center in the game. And this is a message. Just say hello when the forty niners in their early days when they were playing the lead the i team they play with in their five run. Five game run where they won five the cincinnati cincinnati guard or. Something disappeared. didn't plan to game some. There's always something that happens that it is a giveaway. That here's what i said. Here's what i saw. I saw two Two penalties that i felt were. That'd be even look at the video. Replay didn't happen. I i'm not gonna argue about the penalties by me. I'm still trying to get to my point of what would give away another whereas the message that went out to the gambling class. Andy reed's son. Who was the linebackers. Coach was arrested for drunk. I guess it make it to the game that was that was the signal that was the that was one way or the other to give away the other giveaways where the two tackles for the two. One of all pro tackles which you need on the offensive line for the kansas city team were missing. They were one of them is injured and the other one wasn't playing So that's number. Two there was. There was so many messages bat. Bet and bet heavily on Tampa that the gambling class would have picked him up. We didn't know no we didn't. We're not the gambling class. This this was by far the best sports announcing in the game. It was also for me. The highlight of the game. Second down twenty five three to go. Someone is run on the field. Some guy with a bra chased. He's running down the middle of forty arms in the air. Victory salute his down. His pants pants thinks he's being chased to the thirty. Take from a security twenty down the middle the one in the converge on the goal line. Pull up your pants. Take off the on speech in the players with hands on hips at the other end of the field looking at them and shaking their head. And saying why i thought it was so classic. Rieger a streak. I wish you know watching these. tv over the stuff. They've been playing a lot of vintage television different channels by the way that guy truly incited direction. Yeah when that for me so They've been playing a lot of these vintage and they have questions on the old match game and the answer might be for example streaker. Oh no one. People realize adversary doing a suspect s and because i was i was in that era of the streaker when it was being became very popular to use the a woman at sometimes guy but usually either one stark naked during a football game in the seventies and Mostly in the seventies streaking across the field at high speeds naked being chased by these fat guards. It was very funny to watch the used to televise it and then for about a year they televised and they said we gotta stop televising this because it's universal yes it encourage people so more people were doing it and so they stay took it and this last one was not televised. "The Dodgers to and the Rays. Nothing going to the top of the fifth on the home run by the Villager and Clayton Kershaw after the first inning has been absolutely on his game. He got one swing and a miss for the first time he's gotten 15 in the last three. And here's Joey Wendell look a strike. Kershaw threw 41 hit one walk, No runs and six strikeouts to time. John Smaltz 199 career strikeouts second all time Sixpack of Justin Verlander Wendell had a fly ball to left his first time. And the old one looked good, but it's called outside of all of the strike. You know, when you went Clayton Kershaw and you had a little pause was waiting for you, Vince Scully, the best they have. This isn't that the best little bump on her show the best they have. The best there ever was. 11 fouled off by Wendell one and two, will be followed by William Thomason. Kevin here by her shot at 58 pitches, effective and efficient and remember how many of the key kind of swing guys for the Dodgers pitched in Game seven of the National League Championship Series that was just 48 hours ago. Here's the 12 and a swing a little chopper back towards the bow, waiting for it to come down Kershaw. He's still got time to throw the first one down that that was funny. That ball was in the air a long time after the bounce before it came down to Kershaw, but he's still at times. So Jess Dustin today Tony Consulate,.

"Look to the podcast. I'm your host, Melito with me as always the intro tumbler himself Josh Crocker was Oh Josh. As going new good good good also with us is the guy who demands his own introduction separate from Josh because he doesn't WanNa be grouped with the Intro Aqua Josh Adam K Hill was Adam. I do appreciate that. Oh Man, it's the most wonderful time of the year. The SCOTFISH has finally arrived has right. That's what we're going to get into here. I'm also super excited for today's guests. WHO's joining us? This is the whom me right here. Man. We chop it up all the time. He's making some. You know bold claims and other chats with Josh about me and clock dodgers talking Shit. We'll get to all that more importantly. He's passionate and talented content creator. He's a fancy analyst. Walk into the clogged arteries podcast richer's. What's up, man? I'm good man. Thank you so much for having me and Yeah I think there's this rumor going around. That I'm the clock dodger chiller. That's what I heard. That name to that name this year Holder well. I'm happy to be here sir. Grew on. What is this all about now? Clock does re killer. Jordan. So Neil. Do you want us story? You could tell it. You're the guest. Art, so, so last year I. We were in Scott Fishbowl I know Neil back then. We didn't really talk and so when we connected this year, I was kind of like going through my team last year. We're GONNA see how I, did we? We had a crazy division was Nick Waylon that fancy footballers like whole bunch of really good analysts in there, and so I look at the bottom of my division on like Oh. Wow, like clunk dodgers meal. And that's not good, so then I had to point of ballots. Idea was like Oh. Man, you're must godless. Will designing no you back then like? Why don't we talk? I was like. Probably because your team saw like I, jotted luck it'll be. Like my second round. Pick just retired on me. And, I I almost made the playoffs. She didn't quite make up what. Always so now you I got. Josh. It's we're just we're GONNA. See what happens though. Teams off to a good start, so I'm pretty. Cassette though we own. Josh R- In the same league this year. Oh Lord! Is this just got super interesting and that I mean you can't kneel on his off year, though the year before that he was like top twenty, the Scotfish as rights how to score, maybe I had that on my bill. If you WANNA live off that success forever. I mean it's it's up to you. I. Like I think you're either, but I mean at least I was better than you. So I can say that I, can talk my shit in that regard, and we both ended up in the spot man out of the playoffs. We're going to see what happens this year all right? We're going to see what happens this year good. Good we'll talk. We'll talk more about it. Would I do I do Jordan? We always whenever we have a guest on the show, especially at their first time guest to have some warm up questions. Get listeners familiar with you. If they're not already some, we're just GONNA. Talk a little bit about you, and then we'll jump over to Scott. FISHBOWL so starting off I. Did want to ask you. How did you get started in fancy football content creation football in general, but just the content creation side of it. That honestly Kinda sparked from my own personal interest in it like when I started with this nation Davey and ray and stuff like that it was just an idea that evolved over time, so we started talking like last May or something. I made a video about it on the Youtube Channel, but basically I was like. Why don't you do content launched video content? Content, because you look at the fancy football landscape, it's all podcast and it's all articles. People really want to read articles like I know there's thousands of articles written every day, but you know there's only select few people that actually will read those articles, and so you wanted on tap new audience. You have to go somewhere that not a lot of people are. A few big people in the Youtube space, but as far as dynasty, and all that stuff goes, it's still a very untapped market, and so I. Honestly Kinda came with to round was like Hey, man, why we make some youtube content and he loved the idea. We came up with a few different show ideas, and a just took off from there I was already doing stuff for my company on the side, making videos and taking photos and stuff for them making content, and so it's kind of natural fit where I kind of. Of fell out of love with writing and I naturally went into kind of content creation side. Nice yeah, so you, so you mentioned I think I missed or maybe you're. You're with destination. Debbie Ray re raise a good friend of the show we've had him on. We talk all the time we chop it up. We support you guys like crazy over there and vice versa, of course which we appreciate, but so basically. You're saying you shot. You're shot. Would you just shot over there DM style? d'auray like emails do something for. The funny part is. Is that actually how how it kind of truly is? Is that yes? I did the end him, but this is a long time ago. This is one I had more followers than he did. Oh, like like. Take that in I have like seventeen hundred hours. This guy's well over ten K now, but back when this happened I honestly to be like your videos like kind of trash. And it wasn't. It wasn't because it was bad, but it was just. It needed a few tweaks, but what stemmed from? That is like crazy when you think about it, it was just me saying hey, why don't you change in your video? He took that constructive feedback and we've been friends ever since, and we've just built this brand, and so he kind of brought me on with station Debbie more officially in the now involved with the L. F. and now we're doing our stuff with fayed the noise and it's just like. A bit? It would have been so easy for him to be like. Hey, how `bout! Of US you go to. Trade did because you didn't do that..

"Dodgers but if you look at all at a hundred and sixty two game regular season I think that that that that favors the dollars more compared to the doctor you have so much randomness in just sixty games stretch in social work and and like you said you have these veterans that are trying to couldn't stop you have these the young guys that are trying to prove themselves these guys are about to hit free agency that are trying to prove themselves so yeah I mean I I think you know every game is going to be full on you know putting everything out there even gave hapless talk about this a little bit as far as how is managing to style will be changeable but he's talked about in the past talking to pitchers even going in again saying Hey you know could today if you get around this page count you know what we're gonna be looking at this this guy this guy this guy and this guy in the bullpen so you know so you already know ahead of the game going into it you might you might be looking at a hundred pitches you might be looking at eighty pitches I know how that picture from Ellen now might be a little more like Hey give ME will give me everything you've got you know so I think the giants in their testing as well I'm really looking forward to seeing and seeing how they use that actually Dalton Johnson NBC sports bay area with us on the sports later there will be a T. H. for these sixty games who do you think well based on the way the giants are currently constructed what do you think it is and that's what most of the time yeah you know internally constructed that they obviously know this going into the year so back to the office to be seen at a disadvantage the best times didn't have an off season time to go out and try to find a you know on every day quote unquote D. H. but they actually have a lot of guys that fit that mold you know especially the way that Kapler will like to platoon you can still use your platoon of hundred hand against lefties even out your skin against righties and maybe that gives a chance for someone like me Jaylen Davis who is more of an athletic outfielder to deploy everyday not everyday but but but more more frequently in the actual outfield and everything and then you look at a public stand the ball you know so they actually have guys that fit the mold and I think that they're gonna stay in house for sure even at their rough who was absolutely tearing up spring training before they got shut down this might be his chance of more veteran guy who doesn't exactly have a position on the field right now mom and for that first phase hi but it didn't go in there against lefties and you know like I said be that kind of power bad bad but they've always been missing a little bit so they might not have been able to go out and get that quote unquote everyday DH but they have guys that Catholic instilled a throw in and out and really be able to use platoons and try to you know find the best defense of nine guys as well stall you bring up an interesting point that I think a lot of us have forgotten were so in the weeds on on on cold paid and the argument between players and owners help everybody pick us back up where we left off in spring training so that we can remember who's got work to do I don't know how big the rosters are going to be but how would you handicappers and interesting Dave's interesting positions that have work to do to it to play for the giants this season yeah I think you'll be I'll build something that you know a lot of guys there's a lot of options out there it seems like you know you're gonna have your Mike you're my best friend Steve who's pretty much going to be everyday guy about booking could begin playing all three positions and then you have your platoon guide with a pen a day care center Jaylen Davis really excites them you know he he obviously toward open in the minors last year and he was really able to elevate like but the hopes in in the majors last year but just an explosive athlete so he was off to a slow start in the spring but giants really like him and then you have a you know what to expect cinema Billy Hamilton who can come in off the bench and swipe a bag whenever you want late in the game we can have a great love and in center field all these different guys to eva Marie should do bond is gonna play all over the field you know so there's a lot of different options for the outfield and I'm interested that the specially with the PH now how happened mixes and matches will there be with the DH or whether it be who's playing center who's playing right so the outfield it's something that I don't have my eyes on for sure you know a lot of eyes will also be a Joey bart I saw something earlier today that the giants still probably won't have him all for the quarter to quarter opening day on July twenty fourth do you think that could change what what what are your thoughts on what they do with him this year I don't think so and you know in what works at a strange time as far as developmental goes and I think part was going to find his way to San Francisco this year for sure but they were they were focused on having him work more behind the plate and strip away and get the in you know just a couple of extra pass a bill to work with different pictures that are right on the cusp of all the major so I think it would take for him to have time in Sacramento and that's what was he going to be not what all was going into the year what with complete minor leagues are going to be but he's gonna be a guy that I think will still be maybe stopping down or or whatever whatever it's going to be as far as how the taxi squad boxer looks so I think that people will for sure see his big league debut but they just want to get him more redefined but that they don't want to rush the process with him but he's not he's right there in the big leagues for sure stalled a couple on drafted guys the giants scooped up today what's the skinny on them yeah speaking of the catcher and you know we we shall talk about far home mold is the guy that they added today was brought our back from he was a JC guy that wound up the last two years Alabama actually from California guy and he the guy who he played catch replays of the battlefield third base second base so you know he he actually I mean he was he was Alabama's best player but before this weird sort even if we're still on track he led them in multiple off of the categories this year and yeah being a bit before the year what what was actually cancel protocols players he wouldn't right around four hundred yeah you twice as many walks and strikeouts so he's someone to me that that that's what they're looking for in another interesting arm was well Jensen from pepper dying he signed today and I got about about half Tommy John surgery in the past what what do the sophomore in two thousand eighteen before the Tommy John he was actually leading the nation in zero point seven four E. R. A. so I mean he's someone who was probably you know right on the on those teams radars as far as one of those fifth round guys at the end of the like I said this this we're trapped baseball America really liked he's he's someone like this kind of knows how to pitch you're not someone see if someone is gonna you know junk about parents are ninety nine well like I said I mean if you're really in the ER hat and anytime you're doing pretty well leave the whole nation India and ERA so too interesting guys I mean the the staff the front office they haven't taken it taken any time.

"And I was with the Dodgers what would you say if now you can you had a number years under your belt is there a draft you look and said man we really we really kick but that particular year is there one that stands out over the others that that's a really tough one well you know my last year in Oakland was where could it go but it is staff pick Matt Chapman with a first round pick which was at the end of the first route so I mean I was just a moment pic of terrific players Japanese turned out to be and you know when I was a down south working for the other employer we had a couple good drafts but I I'm sure your listenership doesn't wanna hear about they don't want to hear what about this now we we talked about this earlier far on how much you guys looking at what's going on with the KBO or bonus Liga soccer which is starting but some of their soccer league's premier league and leaguer gonna be certain that pretty soon how much you look at what they're doing and how they're doing it and how there could be a crossover between what they're doing what you're doing what you like what you don't like what you could would change how much do you take take notice of what's going on in others in other sports communities yeah I think there's two different that the learning that we can have from some believe that of start up already won it yet how they're going about it either keeping players safe the tech protocol that they're putting in place an individual teams like us and the legal office of had a lot of communication with those weeks about what they're doing what is working and you know what remains a work in progress the other thing just to the stand you know I'm sure you guys have done this to just tuning in and and evaluating the the TV experience was out of the house fans are going to be consuming our game and you know you kind of think of what could be better what could make this more exciting and you know the one thing about watching the beach KBL games baseball it's always going to every sport can be better with fans but it's interesting about baseball because so much of the television broadcasters picture versus batter and you know the fan interaction or you know you just don't see that many fans in that particular shop center field so I think baseball kinda well set up to have a TV production where it doesn't seem too awkward it's going to be a little bit but watching the KPL game the other day you know I was surprised that you know how much I it'll be kind of zoned out are tuned out on the fact that they weren't banned there because so much of it is just that you know model you mano pitcher versus batter matchup that you watch your course it will take some of that you can get some of the stadiums I know I was watching a game in Tucson a couple day nights ago they didn't have the fans behind home plate the cardboard cut outs one of that stadiums in a camera which one it was but I mean if you looked at him you would tell obviously they're not fans but if you're watching pitcher catcher pitcher batter it doesn't you did that it's Roger the negative spaces and draw your eye balls to that it's like it looks normal because that's kind of what the fans look like other than the fact they're moving a little bit you're concentrating on the game but it to me it's okay how can you make this as normal as possible like the Bundesliga had crowd noise pilot in over the telecast FS one did that and it sounded good you don't see a ton of fans insane in the soccer matches but do anything they can do to make it seem normal that doesn't dry your eyes are years away from a going god this is weird anything they can do in that regard I think is a bonus yeah I think it's going to be there to think they're gonna happen one as fans are just going to acclimate to these broadcasts will be different and you know once you watch five or ten games that way it's gonna feel a lot more normal and to it I just think the broadcasts are going to get better and better and the people that work in that realm you know really talented and I know you gotta figure out a way to make it fun and interesting and exciting and probably get some level of fan interaction gauge mint in a different sort of way but you know I I I think that you know people on on that side of the business are going to figure out a lot of ways to make the television broadcast compel yeah I would think the player input to as much as they want to give I would think player input would have a you know it would be a factor in that as well because the more comfortable your guys are you know especially at home or whatever you know your whole ballpark is going to be in these interesting times I think it's comfortable with those guys you want to make them that would be one of the most important things of this whole process absolutely just in terms of using you know the sound system thank you guys that it's that you know the piping in a crowd this is you know not necessarily just for the broadcast but the books for the guys who were there and you know every team now has the you know the gigantic jumbo tron out in center field maybe there's a way to do that there's a way to type in you know some fans and kind of assume like grade or something like that just to make it feel like more of a social experience and I think all that stuff you know when we get to that point they're gonna be some really interesting things in experiments that you know wind up making it to your point not just a a good fan experience on TV but as normal as possible for the guy to get a feel for hunt from what you've heard has had teams handled this downtime you know in different ways and and did you get did you guys develop any kind of a strategy of how to try to utilize this time to be best prepared other than just say Hey guys stay in shape have you had kind of an over arching plan that you've tried to implement yeah the cool you know captives you know I know he's been on with you guys has been great about being cut to the coaching staff keeping them on their toes stimulating games and kind of going through the in game model so you know once the season starts they have a good deal for the roster and how they're going to use it again you know something that's been a common refrain is is just communication making sure that you know we're in touch with our players know what they're working on provide them resources where we can I mean that's just been a broader societal thieves just staying connected with people will be more important than ever so you know I don't know how how how much you call that a strategy but that's probably been the most important thing just to keep morale up and keep people feeling connected so you know hopefully we get this thing going it won't feel like you know worse we're starting from ground zero will have that built up something over the course of the couple months you know it's interesting I just saw this taxes is going to allow twenty five percent fans at outdoor events which is interesting I don't think California is ever gonna follow Texas lead when it comes to to politics or a lot of other things but it does make you think you know what maybe if things trend in the right direction and who knows to sync it all go to hell in a hand basket and three days of me we have no idea what this thing is going but if things continue along this line maybe there will be some fans I mean it doesn't have to be on forty thousand fans are thirty eight could be ten thousand I'm gonna be like a maze game so you did something like that at least you laughed at that thank you I appreciate that but you could have a little bit Billy Beane online three what what outposts that that would even be funny don't even be like I didn't think that was gonna be possible for housing you will probably have to deal with no fans throughout the season and we may it's a possibility but the fact that they're going to do it again you could you could you could see how it goes and maybe there is a place where you can have like three people per row and have a role in between them and stuff like that so maybe maybe there is hope that there could be could be some fans in the stadium before the season ends yeah I mean you know Thomas as much as you and I like to work things out for our society out during these interviews yes the same thought which is you know you see you know slowly they're encouraging signs that you know more more stores at full retail outlets are opening up you know more parks are opening up and you start saying well you know if we can open up part could have these circles where people have to stay inside you know could you do something like that in a gigantic stadium they usually beds forty fifty thousand people and you know can you do it safely and clearly Texas is starting by adding more and more people are are are are to you better look we we haven't seen the end of fans coming to see him in a reversal we will get there at some point it's just a question of what the case is I do think there's going to be an intermediate phase where you know they're gonna be capacity limits but some fans are going to be let back into the stadiums and arenas you don't want the public health official site that safe and who knows I mean it could it could be towards the end of the season I think that would be great that would upset a lot of people because you know this is ultimately about you know we professional sports are very much a spectator experience and I know you know the front office's management players everybody feels that way so hopefully we get back to that as soon as possible Ron if you if you guys you know court of the reports might be expanded rosters and maybe even I'll see extremely large taxi squad and there may not be a minor league season we kind of were certain understand that's kind of the dynamic of this of what we're seeing I'm just kind of wanted to get like a comarca Luciano who's such a great young prospect in your system is there any consideration to think to put a guy like that on your on your taxi squad so to speak with no real intention of playing in just so he keeps developing as opposed to shutting it down and you get a lost year how you guys doing those things absolutely I think it's gonna went.
