"Food and do testing and understanding your body better interest that would became your lifestyle right versus someone who didn't do any of those things right and so you know is it really a stroke of bad luck that you have a weakened immune system well ultimately what you just said doctor Wilson is true Hey you know we we we actually either earn our our health and longevity or we earned disease obviously that that's really what what happens now we we already discussed that you can be born with with with certain you know weaknesses but you don't have to inherit the disease I mean you talk about this a lot hate you know the genes can load the gun but to your lifestyle pulls the trigger okay and and that's a good way of putting it a good metaphor our lifestyle plays a huge role in whether we're going to win or lose these battles and so if we expect to have an ongoing healthy immune system we have to implement certain things in our life we don't have to become addicted to Kaplan runners we don't have to be perfect but we we do need to implement certain things into our life to win absolutely now here's the question that I'm getting and I want to address this is okay so I have a weakened immune system because IT was not perfect and I ate poorly and just I just now making health a priority or I weakened immune system because I'm older I have a genetic predisposition I am one of the points or is there a one percenter right so what do I do it's one of the things that is really important understand here is that listen if you are in a category of you have a weakened immune system for whatever reason and you like okay so what about me well here's what's the most important is and I want to hear your thoughts on this too is you have to double down more than ever on the things that are necessary to build a strong system that the invoice for who is the destroyer muse system right making sure that you're supplementing that which you cannot get from food and making sure your behaviors are appropriate right and now does that mean does that still mean eliminate all exposure to all germs I'm concerned about these people who are eliminating all germ exposure in masking and disinfecting on the backend what's going to happen to them now when they re expose themselves to everything on the back end after six eight maybe twelve weeks of non exposure right well first of all go back to what I first said we have an immune system why is it there you know we can't just dismiss that it's there because we're going to need a minute to to things that's about you know our liver his is there to do filtering in fact I can filter is five hundred forty gallons of blood a day why is it there it because it's gonna need to filter something okay we got designed us knowing we were going to be exposed to invaders and toxins and things it's just that when we don't follow the principles to keep the body well look we have cell renew all the time ourselves are renewing some faster than others and so aging doesn't always have to determine whether we have a bad immune system okay it's whether we have the material in the body to make those new cells well our our healthy and we're seeing more and more information on this so aging doesn't have to be that but be a factor here okay it it's it's really more about what we're doing and back to Louis and B. shop are the territory our environment is determining whether these germs and problems can set up camp it's not based on what you just got a great set of genes yeah yeah so the next part is really Hey I want to build a strong immune system how do I do this in this next part when you go through the food yes and then maybe some of the supplemental things that you can do to help as well and so but some let's cut it from here and then let's come to the next part we're gonna talk about food yep I look forward to it they were back in doctor Nichols this is doctor Phil Harris is our natural Pathak researcher and history buff all things natural health glad to be here and so we are talking about the muse system and you know we just kind of talking about the the the germ theory yes the germ theory versus train theory and we know that it's not all about the germ that causes one to become sick that it's all about how the body reacts and responds and adapts to its environment right that's what's called the terrain theory building a strong immune system building a strong body so they can overcome and resist anything yeah and so then now let's talk nuts and bolts how do we actually do that and food plays a big role when it comes to the strength of your immune system does so talking about that what are some of the things necessary when it comes to nutrition to not only build a strong immune system but also to avoid having a weak one well first of all this particular concept is not not really new it just keeps getting reinvented because when we don't eat the right foods we keep visiting disease let food be thy medicine has been around for a long long time doctor Henry Bieler wrote a book called food is your best medicine this was a classic back in the sixties even and that he was a medical doctor and and and believe this so this isn't new it is a foundation however that we have to realize is true our body does not run on chemicals it does not run on plastics it not it does not run on things that man creates an advance it runs on things primarily come from the vine and so if we want to have a healthy immune system we have to eat I like the little saying I have every time you dine have something from the vine and it needs to be assessed and live in ins I'm rich and so this is what keeps our body vibrant and strong so many people because of lifestyle we're busy we don't have time we've got a microwave this we've basically process or package or can virtually everything that we eat and we can look at this and see that it affects our health it's very clear if you look at the world map and I love to use this example because you have to be assigned just understand it's just look at the diseases that show up in different areas of the world if you look at the people their environment how they live and eat whether they get more sunshine they walk more they're eating live foods the diseases that show up in in in different regions are directly tied to those lifestyles would you agree I agree how to percent so when you understand that the disease that we get as Americans are very much lifestyle induced chronic disease what are some of the disease right now that we have to concern with yes we have that we have to cope with nineteen scare epidemic and pandemic whatever you say there but really the entire time was actually killing way more people than that was heart disease cancer diabetes you look at some of the chronic illnesses that were developing I just saw there's a two hundred percent increase listen of this bill two hundred percent increase in Alzheimer's and dementia like disorders for those thirty to sixty four well so we're saying dementia like disorders in and I'd say young people and thirty that is a two hundred percent increase why are we saying that well part of it is our lifestyle induced behaviors right and so when it comes to food we know that there are certain food molecules in certain substances substances that destroy our main system absolutely well and you may just a great example there and again not intending to to make fun of anyone I just want people to think don't check your brain at the door I like to say that don't check your brain at the door even when you go to the doctor don't check your brain at the door keep it turned on these stats a doctor Wilson just talked about which need to be a spoken of it they need to be in our minds server smoking kills two hundred fifty thousand people a year it doesn't count the millions it mains and yet we haven't put restrictions on up on people there we put the labels on the cigarette packs and things like that thanks to see ever could but the truth is what if we just put masks on to stop us from drinking diet drinks working cigarettes I mean I'm just saying we're losing more people to our lifestyles then we are to quote germs were I need this yeah we need to start and and why are we not concerned with that that we should we need to ask a question or not concerned enough right now we know sugar has a profound effect on the immune system yes it does medially and that so when you intake sugar there's a lot of four to six hour window where your new system is shot yep yep so now allowing yourself to be exposed to so many other things yep and so if we're concerned about I like your knowledge about wearing a mask to not eat crap this call is if we just had a duster a lot of those not eat crap and I think that would go a long way it is as opposed to disinfecting and and and not being exposed to only save a lot of lives we would save our lives and so okay so we know sugar okay we also know that the life giving foods allow the body there is our exes owns with in nutrients that actually talk to our DNA to express itself within berries as an example right I'll tell our body hate you need to protect you need to be vital here and you need to be turned off yeah comes to the things necessary for survival right and so these exosomes are incredible and so we understand that there are like vite vital nutrients not just the things that you can study with vitamins and minerals but there is a vitality within living foods there is absolutely taking and vitality for life giving foods help to support strong immune system what are some of those types of foods what are some of like by vitality richer life giving foods that we should be loading up on in consuming in large amounts right now when it comes to building a strong means is that what you mention one of them berries berries are great because are typically low in sugar and they're they're very very full of of life giving minerals and nutrients in out we need to buy them organic and made that clear because you can study about this if you want but there's in the dirty dozen or is it on at twelve particular ones that we have to watch over and and you can look that up online and check it out but please buy organic pay the slight extra because if you don't you're distracting your body again with with you know problematic chemicals okay so which is problematic chemicals also a profound effect on your ability and your body's ability to combat foreign invaders of course it's a distractor absolutely yeah I'm we don't need it we have enough distractors in the world that we can't totally avoid we don't need to add to them on purpose we will we have control over that so many people as we you and I test people and I meet with the patients and we're finding out that their exposure is extreme and they don't show their exposure and most likely you know a you know it's very interesting it's almost like a financial planner is meeting with somebody and going through their financial lifestyle if you will and finding out they are exposed everywhere and it only takes one little thing that's going to kick the domino to cause this chain reaction to that example in our world that sickness that's disease that's chronic that's cancer that's hard to see this diabetes it only takes one illness for you then to.

"Have done in the past year for more this new report KCBS anchor Rebeca corral spoke with doctor Wilson Compton deputy director of the National Institute on drug abuse what factors are behind the increasing use of vaping marijuana well I think what we're seeing is that vaping as a way to deliver drugs to that body into the brain has just surged in popularity over the last few years and we first saw this with the E. cigarettes but we're seeing an across the board with marijuana being an extraordinarily popular way way to administer eBay being being extraordinarily popular way to administer marijuana now what's the difference between smoking marijuana in a Piper to join verses vaping it well the difference is that the what when you smoke it it's literally burned into vaping device it's actually the oil so it's not necessarily marijuana itself but it may be an extract from marijuana that heated up to a significant degree to produce a vapor product now what we're not sure of is exactly what's in that because it may not just be marijuana there can be contaminants that's what the CDC has been all worried about with the pulmonary illnesses lately so vaping may not be the same at all and smoking marijuana all right so you know they're they're been all these reports of of the lung disease lung injuries that have happened and pot has been implicated in quite a few of them that's right what that's what the CDC has been telling us that there were pretty sure that it's contaminated THC or or marijuana vaping products that causing these long injuries it may not be the THC or marijuana itself but it may be other chemicals other substances that are added to cut the product to extended in and by unscrupulous manufacturers is pretty interesting that one marijuana use is up all coal consumption among teens is down what we are seeing of some improvement in alcohol use we saw reductions in cigarette use we've also seen reductions in many other of the so called harder drugs the teens may use so in general drug use show some very positive signs for teens across America marijuana has remained stubbornly elevated despite these declined in other other substances and and I think the word stubborn because generally the substances go up and down sort of in parallel kids tend to use either all of them or none of them there's not a lot in between yeah but you know pot is becoming legal more more states I think that maybe that sends a message to teens it certainly does it change or not immune to the changing social attitudes this survey has been documenting the teens are more favorably inclined towards legalization of marijuana than they used to be they are more permissive in terms of not disapproving of marijuana use than they were just a few years ago and what's been a little bit of a surprise is despite the softening attitudes we actually haven't seen major increases in use although the rates remain stubbornly high I'm not physically daily use of marijuana we've got to go on a sec but do you think that there's a link between increased vaping M. decrease drinking and drugging I actually think it may be the opposite that is we see an increase in vaping what may be a concern is that in the next year or two will see an increase in these other substances that's what has me as a public health official so concerned about vaping nicotine and the overall vaping issues that may be a a marker of increased risk that teens are willing to take this doctor Wilson Compton deputy director for the National Institute on drug abuse we are on to your money one fourth it was a mixed finish for Wall Street as investors digested a batch of corporate news prices pulled back just before the bell the Dow Jones industrial average lost twenty eight the S. and P. five hundred slipped one the nasdaq composite rose four Boeing faces what appears to be the first shareholder lawsuits stemming from the seven thirty seven MAX fiasco a pension fund accuses Boeing's board of failing to implement systems to make sure the Jack complied with federal and international laws during its development Instagram is laying down some rules covering content in influencer advertising they'll no longer be allowed to promote products related to vaping tobacco or weapons former worldcom CEO Bernard Ebbers is getting out of prison a federal judge granted the seventy eight year old a compassionate release nearly eight years early Evers was convicted in two thousand five of overseeing an eleven billion dollar fraud that bankrupted world com Larry Kaski Bloomberg radio the satellite lounge presents an evening with.

"Skin type do you have the and then they will probably look you over head to toe looking first for what could be a skin cancer most skin cancers it's important to note are painless the general we do not hurt although pain and itch can occur they usually look like a slowly or quickly growing red or pink spots on the skin and sometimes they will rotor ulcer rate or break down or become elevated and and hard but it will basically be something on stable in the scam how often should someone I guess age also is a factor get a regular check up if you will so that's a difficult question because of the shortage of dermatologists available for a routine scan checks and and the fact that many primary care physicians are capable of doing routines contracts so we tend to answer that question based on what your risk factors are in what you had previously so the patient is then seen the clinic what does the dermatologist due to evaluate an area that may be suspicious for say six skin cancer so once again it's important to understand that any of us can have IT keratinocyte cancer and although they tend to occur in areas of the body that have had the most sun exposure they could be anywhere so your dermatologist is gonna look you over head to toe and they often will aid their exam with something called a dramatic scope which is a handheld magnifying device something that we become expert in using over many many hours in years and this helps us to know whether or not we have confidence in what that growth is and whether a biopsy is needed a biopsy is the gold standard if we think we have a skin cancer and that is in in office procedure usually perform the same day thank you so much doctor Wilson thank you very much the latest word on medicine is now heard every Friday afternoon at two and is.
