You may have heard that Elon Musk is no longer interested in buying social media giant Twitter. He wants out of the $44 billion bid, but Twitter executives say the bid is rocked the stock market price and they want to hold mister Musk accountable. Naomi nicks is watching it all for The Washington Post first. Why does he want out of the deal in the first place Naomi? Legally is that Twitter has not been forthcoming and operating back to bed misleading about the number of spam accounts on the platform. He says that it must be much higher than what the company has said, which is that it's lower than 5%. And that this represents the material enough difference that it essentially changes that it violates some of the provisions that Twitter agreed to when he made the deal. Twitter is saying, work, we'll take it as court. The company has said that the number of Salem accounts on the platform is lower than 5% and that it's been truthful and forthcoming about that information and that Elon has to go forward with the deal because he agreed to legally. Yeah, certainly doesn't sound like it's been an easy time at Twitter since Musk first announced he was buying the company. Twitter stock is off about 50% since that first bid was made. It's really been a bit of a roller coaster in part because this is an acquisition that has played out in public in a way that few acquisitions do. And so Elon has publicly criticized specific people and executives at Twitter. He's criticized the platform. He's indicated that he would be potentially open to seeing president Donald Trump return to the platform in a Twitter ban Trump over his role in the gen 6 events.
