"Band called the Ohio players. You're familiar with the Ohio players, doctor demento, right? Yes. Okay. So the Ohio players had this album these album covers that they do, and they were pretty pretty extremely provocative album covers in one cover in particular was a the the band an album called Honey. And it featured a nude woman holding a jar overflowing with Honey, and it was dripping all over her body. It was just a sexy cover. I mean, essentially just pouring. Honey, Downer phase is going down to the chin, and it was a hit single from called love rollercoaster. Yeah. Remember that song love coaster? Yeah. Okay. So what makes this song completely bizarre? And I'll tell you what makes it completely bizarre. Is that sometime around nineteen seventy six there was a rumor is in the song. There's this embedded scream. Is in the song's instrumental break sometime around the second verse. I mean, you can hear it. If you if you, you know, the the song about two minutes and thirty seconds to minutes, thirty two seconds. And so during this period of time, I remember, and I don't know how how accurate this is. But I remember hearing that said this is the thing that scared me when I was a kid American top forty Casey Kasem, American top forty and he I think was the guy who spread this rumor he said that the scream heard on the song was that of a woman being stabbed just outside the recording studio where the song was pressed, and I remember as a kid hearing about how this model that was all glazed with the Honey on the album cover was burned because the Honey was too hot. And so she went to the studio and she threatened to sue the band for damages. She allegedly showed up to the studio during the recording and the band manager as she threatened the band manager of the bad manager pulled a knife and stabbed her today. And so what added. To this urban legend was the fact that love rollercoaster, the song was featured in a film in nineteen ninety eight called urban legend, and there's actually a scene where this guy is trying to impress his girl by telling her this urban legend story he plays the song. And he explains that the screen was this girl being murdered and crying out for help. She can't believe in need and says that it was lifted off for nine eleven tape or something or nine one one tape. Well, I wanna play that just to show that I'm not crazy. I got the clip from love rollercoaster. This is the song liberal closer just a little portion of it. I'm gonna play for you. I actually got repeated the scream so you can't miss it. But this allegedly was a woman being murdered during a song. Here's a song love roller.

"I do. How many stories about anybody in particular? I will. I can tell you that really really amazing guys. They are superheroes. I talk about when Rockstars were super heroes, and the misfits really do fit that Bill. I think that there's no one else likes them in music because they're the real deal. Removed from the original punk scene. But they have the vigor. And the ferocity of Metallica ten times over I just love the b movie fame. I love I love the crimson ghost. I love it. All I mean, that's the thing. I love about the misfits. What I what I saw that. And I saw the crimson goes tonight. Saw some of the songs that they they were saying, of course, Glenn's amazing. And I'm a big misfits fan. So let's get back to a doctor demento wonderful story about how. Okay, so. A lot of people don't know the doctor demento lived with the band spirit the band that gave us I got a line on you, babe. And and so, okay. So tell us a store you lived with the band spirit. And so what brought you guys together? Well, the club called the Astros in Los Angeles where I worked and the club was owned by Randy California's uncle, so of course, when the ban came together they played there. So that that's how we got together. That's the short version. Okay. And so you were you were living in the house with them. Nineteen sixty seven and you're doing some writing. And then okay. So tell us a story about how Charleston. The living room the band was playing on they were rehearsing and. Windows world but a hot day in July or August. And so people would wonder up from down the road and listen to the music normally they didn't mind, this guy's and spirited lying. But one of them Mark Andy bass player came into where I was writing. And he said there's this guy out there. He really gives us the creeps can ask him to go away. So I went out there. And I said, well, we'll, sir. You know, this is private property and the band would really like their privacy. And can you please? So. Go out you go off the road, and in a way, and he glared at me and turned around and started walking away and saying you got bad Kerma. So we really words he said, but I certainly registered his face in my mind, and it was about oh, maybe a year and a half later after the murders happened and Charles Manson was arrested. And so there was a big picture of the front page of the LA times. Oh my God. That's the guy. So I have I have no proof positive. You say she would forget. Well, you know, that's funny because every time I've had an opportunity to talk with people in my career. I mean, when I was younger, I was a lot of people from Timothy Leary media. A lot of people in my life. A lot of people in the music to Charles Manson always came up in conversation for some reason, you just one of those guys was getting around. But see, you know, one of the things that impressed me. The most was when I was able to have a short meeting with Robby Krieger of the doors. He was touring and we actually had dinner with him. I was then married to someone else at the time, and we were having dinner with him and the movie the doors was in theaters at the time. And so I was actually they're just my ears are listening to everything that Robbie was saying about Jim. And of course, you know, Jim was a complex character. And at times Krieger said that he was scared of Jim that he was a scary person that he would verbally attack the audience. Sometimes you call them names, the excoriated them from even being there, and I had a friend who actually interviewed Danny sugarman who was the manager of the doors and sugarman said that he believed that Morrison was more dangerous than Charles Manson. He said that he was called. He was married to a wiccan a wiccan Richard something like that. He said he was in the sex magic that he claimed there was an Indian spirit in his body. He called himself, the lizard king, saying, the reptile blade. And so, you know, when we hear about, you know, Morrison, and of course, he died in nineteen seventy one Morris was in all these occult stuff and crazy stuff it really I did some digging into some of the rumors about Charles Manson and there's actually met Charles Manson, but Jim Morrison. And the thing is is that you know, Morrison had connections. In fact, his father, I guess was in the military. He was he was military Intel actually and Gulf of Tonkin all that stuff was connected to to Morrison and for the longest time there were saying that Morrison was alive. Now, what do you think about that idea that he lived or he faked his death for awhile eventually died? You think there's any truth to that? I know idea put to look at all the stories about when he died. Yeah. Well, I mean, we see. Its natural. Somebody who plays a big part in so many people's lives as such a magnetic personality. Even if you're just here is music, right? Suddenly, he's dead. People are going to have a hard time believing that and so they kind of search for clues that maybe it was all all the fake and then he's still alive somewhere working flipping burgers. A lot of people would say that for example. There was a guy. I can't remember his name. He was a Bank teller at the San Francisco branch of the Bank of America. Wall Fleischer, and he said seventy Seventy-three some guy came up and wanted to withdraw money and his name is James Douglas Morrison. And he said he looked like Jim Morrison, and that you know, that it was kind of bizarre that his his he was still on file there and somebody was withdrawing money that claim to be Jim Morrison. And of course, we talked earlier about the twenty seven club where Morris. Twenty-seven Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, you know, what Kurt Cobain Amy wind house all dying twenty seven l Wilson of canned heat, a dear friend of mine. No really did. He died in twenty seven to see. And that's another thing. There was a guy by the name of Dave McGowan who actually wrote about the mall. Holland kids, the hippie movement musicians. Frank Zappa, John Phillips, David Crosby. Stephen stills. In fact, I met David Crosby. But you had a lot of interviews with Zappa Zappa comment about any of those times. No interested in music, and he wasn't really interested in rumors and stuff like that. I mean, maybe he may be interested by himself just for his own amusement. But it wasn't the kind of thing. He wanted to talk about he wants to talk about his music, right? He wanted to promote is music and promote other musicians that he loved who's who's music influenced him. So that we just talked about that. Did you ever get a chance to meet any of these people like mama Cass? She worked with John Phillips mamas in the pops. Did you ever meet any of these bans when you were? Not not them specifically, but others metrics a couple of times you met Hendrix. A person and you met Dylan. Yeah. I met Hendricks. He was just he was getting ready to play at the Monterey pop festival, which we the kick that really broke him wide open. He was very shy. I said that I'd heard his first album an import from England and. And. That I loved it. And he was just whole. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Wow. Very shy and soft spoken and really nice. The other times that I met him. He was done done some sort of chemicals and wasn't really insult. So. Okay. Well, the first time, you know, it was quite amazing Dylan I talk about him for a long time. Because I'm I'm from Minnesota. And I met him back there before we ever went to New York. That'd be that'd be great to, you know,.

"On the show to is amazing because this guy has got a rock and roll pedigree. That is so long and so amazing working with the misfits. And of course, bringing back Glenn, Dan Zeke. And and you regroup the entire Bandon you back. Yeah, they are. And they're better than out or I mean, it was something that I always believed possible that people for years just said would never happen could never happen. And I just never gave up over the course of fourteen years every once in a while, I would inch towards it. The timing was right at everybody. Agreed. And and they're just doing phenomenally they're playing sold out arena shows on having a great time doing it. And we have no idea how long it will last. There's no timeline on it. They're just taking it one step at a time doing one show at a time. Meet one of them could very well be the last time that they do it. But that's kinda the beauty and the magic of it is that you're really experiencing history. And you just never know if this will be the final one, but they're really genuinely having a great time. It's Glenn dancing and Jerry only the two original members, and founders of the band come back together for the first time in over thirty three years, and it's just been absolutely incredible to witness now. Speaking of bad, boys, glens are pretty bad. Boy, I've heard a lot of stories about Glen, do you have any good tour stories about Glen, maybe some weird encounters with him. I personally I love Glenn. I think that he's great, and I really wouldn't comment because I can't betrayed the trust of of the simple that I work with. If I do. Stories about anybody in particular. I will share them. But I can tell you that really really amazing guys. They are superheroes. I talk about when Rockstars were superheroes, and the misfits really do fit out Bill that there's no one else like them in music on because they're the real deal there from the original punk scene, but they have the vigor and the ferocity of Metallica ten times over.
