New York Knicks hiring Tom Thibodeau as next head coach

"So Tom Thibodeau is gonna be the head coach of the next. Here's our guy. Stephen A. Smith, Our first take host was on return to the MBA, and he discussed the positives and negatives. Of the Knicks hiring Fido. Nevertheless, nobody can argue that Davidow has the most successful resume it available coaches that one open market he's one about 59% of the games. You know the job you did in Chicago. We noted he sold it to the postseason first time in like a decade for like, 13 years. We know that he's with one could easily argue whether not Doc Rivers would be a champion as a head coach had it not been for top Thibodeau being his assistant. In Boston back in 2008. So all of those things come with He's got an incredible reputation. Terms of knowing the game of basketball of the entire Lesley committed to the game of back, eat, lives and breathes basketball day and night. Um and you combine that with the fact that again either defense with it, though, that a pluses minuses. The fact that in Chicago there were issues with Paxson and guard form in the general manager In Minnesota. There was an issue with the owner, Glen Taylor, and management, along with the fact that Jimmy Butler wanted to be traded went off Thibodeau, his former coach in Chicago, by the way. Was his president of basketball operations and to coach in Minnesota. And so as a result, you've got a home and believe that Tom Thibodeau has made the necessary adjustments. He's seen the error of his ways. Some respect player relations. And even relations with management and that this is a good deal because I'm here and it's a three year deal. Garrity fully guarantee the other two years, a partial guarantee in excess of about for $4 million. But in the end It seems to be a match made in heaven. Considering the fact that both will you, Wesley Elia Rose Go back over Quarter century with activity. He knows they've known him that long.

"doc rivers" Discussed on The Adam Schefter Podcast

"Every. White Guy in a Beers Jersey. In Knicks Jersey and he looked at me and he says Doc rivers said Yeah Aren't you from Chicago? Man I see. Yeah, he started Craig. Through the story I. Give The guy a big hug. Just walking down the street and I was like that's the quite that sounds right now. My task. WHO's GonNa win the bears quarterback competition. Some. Who Do you think well? You know who it is, but they didn't go get full for him to sit. And that's the way I look at it. Listen I think the best man is going to win, obviously, and then one thing, but nagy did you such an offensive genius I would be shocked to see them both at times, but I don't love. That's just in my life when you decide who it is, and that's who it is, but we have a superbowl winning quarterback now and we also have a very young quarterback right, and so you would think the super bowl winning quarterback. We'll probably get the not. And the other young kids will get the teach. And so in some ways you may win both ways. The way of looking at it and I think they hope it works out that when you did mention. That Philip rivers brought you into. Speak with the culture helped. Arrange that for the Ray Allen money story but I don't know the money store, so I got ask you to share the Ray Allen money in the ceiling store less stock, will it? It's a true story. We lost to the Lakers on Christmas Day in the regular season game, and when you play West East, you only played a west coast teams one time of year in their arena, and we laws and walking on the floor I felt like it was the first time. That our team was down. You just fill it like They knew they thought they were better than the Lakers. They lose to him and they were down so walked in the locker room. Why this came to me? I can't tell you, but it did I walk into the Locker Room I every player every trainer, every coach, every equipment manager to get out of hundred bucks and give it to him, and you know guys like looking around what they need under bucks. I didn't even talked about the game. Game I walked. I need a hundred bucks. Everybody on Kindergarten Eddie, you know. Kevin Garnett the greatest team leader in sports, but he has a very colorful way of expressing himself. You know the F.. Word is now verb an adjective Kevin Garnett, so he's bombing outlet. We're doing this and he's going back and for and I said I'm not. This is not an asset. This is you have to give me a hundred dollars, and so they all gave him his money. And I and there was a ton of. Money in my hand and I had my one security. Guy feel Mitch feel I want you to take everybody in the shower. Is the question you take them in a shower I grab one the system I said Hey. I want to hide this money, and he's like what I said I wanNA hide this body. We gotta figure out a place where they no one could ever find it, and so we finally looked at the ceiling panel. We felt like there's no plumbing and we put the money up in the ceiling. We closed the backup and the players all come here comes in and said. Where's the money? I, said the money got. What do you mean the money? I said the only way you can ever get this money back is we have to come back here and play and the only way we can come back here and play is we have to make to the finals? I believe you're gonNA. Make the final, and we're going to meet them here and when we come back here. We're going to get our money back and so we made it to. The finals went when we got off the bus. It was awesome you saw these. Clare Spreading to the locker. They were waiting. They I walked in that. Locker Room Strasse like. I was laughing because me and Kevin Eastman was one of my only knew where it was. We let him look for another five minutes and I got an. Kevin grabbed a broom lift up the ceiling panel fallout. I swear to God I. Didn't think would be there. I thought someone may have so little founded, and it came falling out, and it was awesome. Player the diving underground. You would think that I I'd love to get you make twenty million dollars in your. A hundred dollar bill. That's. Extra cash. How long was the money hiding in ceiling for their duck? Say Four months wow. Yeah Yeah. We played them in December, maybe longer. Yeah, we played them in December. Six months because our seven because the finals were June. But I wonder if there's any like ceiling tiles in Orlando that you have to scout out now to stick hundred dollar bills. They're inside your team here in the upcoming MVP season year. We'll we're all the funniest call I got? That story got out after it and I got a call from Gregg Popovich and duck and ask you a question with this. Sure you said you. Go into San Antonio. Locker Room said look around. I can find some money. Pop out to tell you. We only thought. The Lakers are GonNa win so no. That's outstanding. Well. Duck like I said I want to get you on. To talk about your experience of the NFL teams, and then obviously with all the events going on in the world, I thought well. This is just unbelievable to build to get him I wanNA. Thank you for all the time that you granted me today. visit time for you It was worth the wait trying to get you on the phone I. Really do appreciate it very much. I look forward. To somehow meeting on the road hopefully Gimme a clippers game at ESPN point I love doing the sideline reporting to these games, and it'll be a great honor to get one your games here while I would love that that would be phenomenal. But somewhere we gotta mid up. Maybe it was doing the rams game. We've run in each other, but I love your word. Keep doing it and all this stuff that we are involved in right now i. think doing the thing, the more we talk about it The more we speak out the better will become as society so I'm hoping we can just keep this going a lot longer than a protests. What we're trying to educate, right, we're trying to educate you and I think that you've done a great job of doing that today, and that's why I appreciate it. I'm going to find you at some point I i. don't know whether it's going to be a work assignment or whether you're going to be coming to new. York to play a game I'm going to confine you at some point in time at look forward to shaking your hand in person and thanking you for your time today. Where I'm looking forward to that, and so are here's the head coach, Los Angeles Clippers who now have to begin to get ready for training camp will be July nine to eleven with the NBA. season. Up July thirty first in Orlando and he's got so much going on and as I mentioned to him, we reached out to him before. All, these protests erupted. We reached out when. I heard he had been talking the bears in the colts, and the rams, and that was what I wanted to bring him on, and I think we're the great things.

"doc rivers" Discussed on Skip and Shannon: Undisputed

"Rate of Band Z.. Lebron James has made no secret that he's anti load management this year doubling down on his stances we can saying quote. Why wouldn't play? If I'm healthy doesn't make any sense to me. Many people thought this was a veiled shot at the clippers. Doc Rivers didn't mince words when asked about it last night after the clippers win over the suns take a listen. It's our philosophy. I don't know what there's are you know. There's whatever the brand says it is to be honest That makes a lot of sense to me but no I think I like overdoing. I think it's the smart thing to do. And you know who knows we'll see at the end. Whoa what's going on here? Dr Didn't need take a shot. He could have easily said like you said he says I don't. I don't really know the Lakers Lakers. How they do business over there but this is our philosophy? Let me tell you about how dot doc is always talking about this now when the Big Three got together in Boston Paul Pierce was always a thirty one year. Thirty years of UH almost thirty one. Paul Pierce Played Eighty Games. Eighty one game. Seventy one game eighty games now Jenny. There's only eighty two games in a season. I'm trying to figure whereas the low management Okay Ray Allen Allen plays seventy three seventy nine eighty eighty. Didn't I'm trying to see where the loan management now. If I'm not mistaken KUWA- Leonard told hold them. So you know what I'd be willing to sign with you guys if you go Paul Peers. So Lebron tells them with Lakers what to do so who tell me what to do because fan press they got. WHOA does podcasts? Ball George agent called Il is that he in Kawai. He'd been talking for several weeks over a month and they would like to play together preferably preferably for the clippers so so duck. I just want you to tell me be honest since we boys we aren't we speak. Truthfully we get a little chuckle here and there did. y'All go recruit Paul George before what made this brought this to you too because let's be all the way one hundred while living told you I don't play back the bags so so quiet. Linda does control had the same amount of control with the clippers. As Lebron has with the Lakers but but but but but don't want to get a little chuckle. Oh they the Bronx is so. I don't think he was chuckling. No no no no. I'm not saying he chocolate. I'm saying the media who he was. They got that I was nervous chuckles because they were like Lou skew dot no dot played with Dominique Superstars have always had more power in basketball than in any the sports. And that's why they can say okay. I don't want that coach. He got out of there even after. We're magic won another championship. Would skip. Paul Western MHM medicine. Now we gotta go and other buses. Okay we Larry Bird. What are the difficulty okay? So it's always been like that this notion. That dog wants you to believe that. Lebron James have some power that no other superstar has ever had of course. Lebron says I want to play Lebron taken which Kawai Lebron said that five healthy. I'm GONNA play that. He got nothing to do with me with them if they don't WanNa play so be it. Ain't knocking them. But why you're not GONNA be for my hustle Um But dot all dot had to say. How the Lakers Lakers clippers? How do business what they don't make because go? We do what we do but he tried to take a shot but little did he know who is pulling the strings over there in docking in a in a bomber and and although Lawrence Frank a puppet wide to set a Japan and why pulling the string. uh-huh Kilbane listen to you. Turn skip what are you got. Thank you doc For for defending your guy. That's what he was doing. Because I was with everything you just said until your last statement. Lebron wasn't taken no shot at Y.. Yes he he was. He has made this whole year about me versus him. And Lebron is preaching to his choir. It is the hugest choir in the history of sports parts. He's blind witnesses number in the billions around the globe. And they will whatever they're the puppets they do. Whatever Lebron says that they should do and he's been telling telling them this guy who thinks it's co I town now? He does a play but I play every game. Lebron got to play games go. I never be the player that he'll get better. That's why they have to run these commercials with limits. Your Question Jenny. You ever seen Lamborghini Ferrari because the audience that they're trying to appear to is not watching on television Lebron's ain't Doodo commercials and because we already know he does every other commercial on what will on. Oh whoa Whoa is light rain. We don't do do shoes native hospital shoes. He got to go online and go to a medical clinic to get those shoes look go to. UK Go to what's called the Fort Lauderdale. The other day got me a period though Gustavo. Go look it up for your pal. hooky boy right on a whole new is even know now which of the nursing station would i. We do a phoebe. s with on the back walls right right there wouldn't why would a nurse. It'd be wage doc rivers. I think their philosophy is whatever. Lebron says it is true. Trust me Lebron has more power overall in that organization. Then has his job. nope Buddha Lebron has his hand hand in everything that the Lakers Do Co.. I just wants to load manage. Just leave me be. I don't need to go and do whatever you want. I will not play back tobacco. Oh he said. Can you get Paul George but keep everything else in Tak. Well obviously Lebron's give me today won't ad. Yeah what's your what's your omitting is. The Lakers are on their knees for to join up with AD and Lebron and he said Nets. Because I don't want to live in his world. What was hollow? If you don't mind me asking what would you do it Do you remember. Would you walk did did you. Do you remember the head of press coverage the man came in with pom pom in his short. Why Windy so what? You're talking about camp. Yep He left Lebron high try or low and we would have loved to have it now. I would have said high and dry if they get a d. but you realize they already had a had him. I got it so we try to add another piece so quiet Leonard said Nah. I don't want to cheer thing over there. I want to take him on. Guys been quoted ordered in the past is saying no. I don't WanNa play with them. I WANNA play against us. Best skilled he can play against him but history will never say why was better than the Lebron. You know that I know that in the basketball historians know well that could change if y wins another championship and maybe another one and another one.

"Are all of his dairy. It doesn't like this is Jason Garrett who he actually loves but he has to. Don't talk during this off season when you got paid. No I know but he get paid at the level. He didn't get paid to level those other guys Japan and draymond green like. Let's be honest the whole hall of Famer Talk Like really you're on you're a hall of Famer and we don't have the last night back in the NBA. The West second best team. I mean the Clippers beat the Suns convincingly won twenty two ninety nine Qui- back on the court. After missing the last game. He had twenty points and just twenty seven minutes before the game. Head head coach Doc. Rivers was asked about Lebron's comments in regards to load management and had some interesting comments in reply. Take listen it's our philosophy. I don't know what there is czar. You know I think there's whatever Lebron says it is to be honest That makes a lot of sense to me. But no I think I like Mike overdoing. I think it's a smart thing to do. And you know who knows we'll see okay. Shots fired you got two sides here you got love it. I grew up in in southern California. The idea that the clippers are on the same plane or in anywhere discussion. The Same Plane Lakers blows my mind like because they're not and they haven't played as such and they won't be at the end of the year but that's fine. We can pretend. This is a rivalry until see. The full season plays out. But you said this coming. From Doc rivers is rich beyond belief. There is no team in basketball that that has been over backwards. More to the will of one player then his clippers with Kawhi Leonard. Her quite said trade these guys and all your your pick for Paul George no problem sir. What else can we do for you? The clippers settle off season. We're not GONNA do the load management stuff that coincided in Toronto. He's missed eight of twenty nine games. The clippers don't want to be engaging in this type of load management putting this you know they love to be able to load manage more. Paul George The guy. I would surgery on the shoulders and had missed the first thirteen games of the first month. That plus the season I think was thirteen games. And but they can't because their load managing managing quiet Leonard. It is unbelievable that Doc rivers would say. Oh the Lakers philosophies whenever Lebron says ask head coach ty Lou how that sounds away he didn't get the job if that it was all about what Lebron says. So it's now there is a history here. Weaned Doc rivers. Paul Pierce. Here's Kevin Garnett have never gotten over the heat ending the big three in Boston. Paul Pierce goes on TV whenever he gets the opportunity and still fixes his mouth to say. Oh I was was better than Lebron. You look like a fool Kevin Garnett just yesterday went on Bill Simmons podcast and was asked about why the heat beat the Celtics ended the big three and he said basically the fix was in because the league wanted the heat to win. Not because you know they beach in five in the first year. Lebron was in Miami with Lebron ending the series series on personal run and then the single greatest game he's ever played in your building in game. Six forty five fifteen and five to officially in the Big Three era doc rivers and that crew have had something a grudge against Lebron since then and this is a needle but it's a needle. That is utterly hypocritical book critical given the fact that the clippers are the team that is doing whatever they're superstar wants them to do. Listen you're right and con hypocritical. It also be fair her to say that Lebron has there were times in Cleveland where he went on a little bit of a he would've been a bit of a Lebron Hiatus okay injury and it's two weeks. Yes but here's the thing is I do think Lebron kind of started this one right. When they asked him about the load management he clearly wanted to make it may get some sort of point of? Hey Man you know I represent the bigger thing in the league. I don't do that. That was a shot across the ballot. What the clippers are doing? You're right the clippers. Could not get into business with Paul with collide Leonard Unless yes. They bowed to his whims of play. Sixty Games no problem. Oh pro and then of course the roster in order to land him they they and the weird thing about Lebron is the hard part about the Bronx. He actually doesn't tell you anything. It's the opposite this the first time. He's actually talked about wanting to play all these games. The Brunt the hard part to coaching the Broncos you you have to kind of tell by his mood and how he's playing if he likes you if he doesn't like he's a guy he it's it's actually the opposite of how a doctor you're saying. But I think that the needle doc is is poking the bear with was poked. He felt like was poked with him on taking a shot at Lloyd. Here's the thing Lebron was when you say he was he was saying ambassador and he's right. No no light and I think Lebron also cares about the health of the sport for are selfish and selfless reasons selfish meaning as far as his long-term financial gain the bigger the NBA is the bigger is and selfless reasons. Because he's been. The face is league for fifteen years so he has that responsibility and it is important. That what Leonard is doing does not metastasized to the rest of the elite. It already has no. It has not absolutely well slowed manager. There's plenty there's plenty of players who have a game. Yes that's but that is not the problem here because there's listen. He's Saint Potato. I say potato. Are they missing the volume of games. That's why thing no but the idea of low. Managing is understanding the player understanding standing his body understanding the schedule and giving him a night off every now and then nobody has an issue with that. Nobody has an issue with guys playing seventy six games. No one absolutely have an issue with some time. When Lebron didn't play was in Memphis two years no of course if Lebron does something that's controversial even if it makes sense but the the seventy six missing five or six games without the the season? That's what the spurs originally did when they invented this thing with. Tim Duncan that was not the issue. The issue is the reigning finals. MVP playing three out of four games missing twenty five percent of the season after last year. Missing Twenty five percent of the season if that were to infect harden and Yannis and Anthony Davis it would be deadly for the sport. That's.

This is a rivalry until the full season. Plays out but you said Ah this coming. From Doc. Rivers is rich beyond belief. There is no team in basketball. That has been over backwards. More to the will of one player his clippers with Kawhi Leonard Quite said trade these guys and all your picks for Paul George no problem sir. What else can we do for you to clippers? Settle off season. We're not GONNA do the load management stuff that collided in Toronto. He's missed eight of twenty nine games. The clippers don't don't want to be engaging in this type of load management putting this you know who they love to be able to load manage more Paul George the guy who had surgery on the shoulders and and had to miss the first thirteen games of the first month that plus the season I think was thirteen games. And but they can't because their load managing quiet Leonard. It is unbelievable. Favorable that doc rivers would say the. Oh the Lakers philosophies whenever Lebron says ask head coach tight lou how that sounds away. He didn't get the job if that if it was. It's all about what Lebron says. So it's now there is a history here. Weiner Doc rivers Paul Pierce Kevin. Garnett have never gotten over the the heat ending the big three in Boston. Paul Pierce goes on TV whenever he gets the opportunity and still fixes his mouth to say. Oh I was better than Lebron. You look like a fool Kevin Garnett just yesterday when Bill Simmons podcast and was asked about why the heat beat the Celtics ended the big three and he said basically the fix was in because the league wanted wanted the heat to win not because you know they beach in five in the first year. Lebron was in Miami with Lebron ending the series on Teno personal run and then the single greatest game he's ever played in your building and game six forty five fifteen and five to officially in the Big Three era doc rivers and that crew have had something a grudge against Lebron since then and this is a needle but it's a needle that is utterly hypocritical. Given the fact that the clippers are the team that is doing whatever. They're superstar wants them to do. Listen you're right. Connor hypocritical it also fair to say that Lebron has there were times in Cleveland. Where where he he went on a little bit of a high he went a bit about? Lebron hiatus wants okay injury and his two week. But here's the bigger thing is I do think Lebron encounter started this one right when they asked him at the load management. He clearly wanted to make. It may get some sort of point of. Hey Man you know I represent the bigger thing in the league and I don't do that that that was a shot across the ballot. What the clippers are doing? You'll write the clippers. Could not get into business with Paul with Kawhi Leonard unless they bowed to his whims of we'll play. Sixty Games aims. No problem right. And then of course the roster in order to land him they they and the weird thing. Lebron is the hard part about. Lebron doesn't tell you anything it's the opposite this the first time. He's actually talked about wanting to play all these games. Lebron the hard part to coach broad. Is You have to tell by his mood. And how he's he's playing if he likes you if he doesn't like he's abide language guy he he. It's it's actually the opposite of how a doctor saying. But I think that the needle doc is is is is poking the bear with was poked he felt like was poked him the Ron taking shouted Lloyd. And here's the thing Lebron was when you say he was he was saying he's an ambassador earns he's right. No and I think Lebron also cares about the health of the sport for selfish and selfless reasons selfish meaning thing as far as his long-term financial gain the bigger the NBA is the bigger he is and selfless reasons. Because he's the face league for fifteen years so he has that responsibility fonts ability and it is important. That what Leonard is doing does not metastasized to the rest of the leak but it already has no. It has not absolutely wells. This is load manager. There's plenty there's plenty of players. Who have this game yes? That's but that is not the problem here because there's listen he's saying potato. I say todd. Are they missing the volume of games. That's why thing no but the idea of load managing is understanding the player understand his body understanding the schedule and giving him a night doc every now and nobody has an issue with that. Nobody has an issue with guys playing seventy six games. No one have an issue with it sometime when the brandon play was in Memphis two years. uh-huh of course Lebron does something controversial even if it makes sense but the the the seventy six missing five or six games about the season that what the spurs originally did when they invented this thing with. Tim Duncan that was not the issue. The issue is the reigning finals. MVP playing three out of four games missing twenty five percent of the season after last year. Missing Twenty five percent of the season if that were to infect harden and Yannis and Anthony Davis it would be deadly.

NBA working on relationship with China after controversial tweet

"Lakers are in China Darren Shanghai right now they're gonNA play a game there Thursday morning early our time four thirty our time and then they're gonNA play another game Saturday in Chins in but there is a lot of controversy swirling around something more the rockets GM tweeted last week it would be would it be misleading to say things have calmed down but Adam silver's over there he's in Shanghai he's attempting to deal with it and it's hard to say if it's down or not the original Durham won't Daryl Morey tweet fight for freedom stand with Hong Kong and China and when I say China it's not just the government it's it's actual NBA Fans in China have responded and said they basically cancelled the Houston Rockets. Yeah I which I don't know that's fair enough but it's it's realistic they really have they shut down the Houston Rockets The Houston Rockets have been the heritage beloved team in China going back to Yao. Ming and that tweet is unbelievably incendiary in Hong Kong there's a separatist movement movement and the Chinese are and when I say the Chinese it's not just the government Chinese citizens an NBA fans in China are dead set opposed that separatist movement and so it's caused a gigantic controversy here's a little bit of what Adam Silver said about it this afternoon. CCTV announced that because of my remarks supporting Daryl Mores freedom of expression not the since of his statement but his freedom of expression they were no longer going to air the Lakers Nets preseason games that are scheduled for later this week a and it's not something we expected to happen I think it's unfortunate but if that's the the consequences of US adhering to our values we still feel it's critically important we adhere to those values my plan long has been to travel to Shanghai tomorrow and I plan to attend the Lakers Nets game Thursday night it's my hope that when I'm in Shanghai I can meet with the appropriate officials and discuss where we stand and again put those remarks from Daryl Morey and my remarks in an appropriate context of a many decades long relationship and see if we can find mutual respect for each other's political systems and beliefs but I'm a realist as well recognize that this is this this issue may not die down so quickly Daryl Morey has apologized actually James Harden also made this state apologize you know we love China we love playing near I know for both of us individually we go there wants to twice a year they show the most important love so now we appreciate as a fan base and we love everything you know they're about in in no way appreciate the support that they give us individually and as an organization so You know we love you if you're wondering why Adam Silver has is kind of taken the position that he has he is he's issued a couple of statements this was too and and you know to give us a little more background Shanghai is fifteen hours ahead of us so it's tomorrow morning in Chiang it's Wednesday morning Adam Silver's already there and he's hoping to have those meetings today in his statement that he issued on Tuesday when he was in Japan he said the NBA will not put itself in a position of regulating what players employees seasoned team owners say or will not say on these issues we simply could not operate that way so he is standing up one hundred percent for not necessarily anything Darryl said or tweeted specifically but for his right to say it yes in in that's why and then as you point out there are many many people's very upset in China and we'll see what happens next but you know Michael and I are hoping touring the Games a Thursday morning and Saturday morning it'll be four thirty am both days if you want to get up early you can listen to us or we're going to simulcast those those our call on spectrum sports net too so we're just waiting to see what happens next in the story but we're looking forward to doing those games I said earlier in the show it one thing I've learned about sports and you understand this steve better than most people because you've covered so many Olympics is sports can be a great unifier it really can it can bring people together you can you can see people jumping up and down and hugging each other we don't even speak the same languages so I I'm hoping we can play the games we can bring him to you and that cooler heads will prevail but we'll see we'll see yeah there's a lot of upset people here is Rachel Nichols who's actually in China the conflict with China top of mind for the League office the NBA is actually facing backlash on both sides here they're facing backlash from those who support the anti-government protesters in Hong Kong who feel that silver hasn't gone far enough to support rockets GM Daryl Morey but they're also facing backlash inside China from those who feel that silver has not gone far enough to condemn what more he actually said one of the loudest voices in that WHO's actually hall of Famer Yao-ming who is now the chairman of the Chinese Basketball Association Yao is one of the people but silver is hoping to meet with when he gets to China which will be on Wednesday yeah he sort of he's taking heat from both sides now sober both from both from people think he didn't go far enough to support Daryl Morey and people in China who think he didn't go far enough in condemning them here's Doc rivers this is new uh-huh doc rivers talking about what's going on with the NBA in China hit for saying what we believe we did as we disagree disagree I disagree with everything you say I have the right to do that and I have the right to Silverstone Tom and that's good that's good that's what this is about freedom of speech and and we should always have who consequences for what you say and that's why we get back to the Lincoln Body before you say there could be possibly and that's by the way what we're seeing we're seeing enormous consequences for Daryl Morey exercise his freedom speech and as of now Darryl still the GM of the rockets tillman for t- to the owner of the rockets came out right away soon as Daryl tweeted that and said he doesn't speak with Iraq it's he doesn't speak for the NBA. I have no problem with Daryl does her his personal views I don't think they're gonNA lose his job over this we we shared with you earlier in the show if you don't listen to US regularly we uh-huh Darryl he's been a guest on this show probably ten times he's one of the reasons he's crazy we'll talk about anything and so Adam standing behind him and saying look whether you agree with what Tara said or not he has the right to say it I think probably means I was going to hang onto his GIG but I'm speculating I don't know yeah a lot of that came up over the weekend and it seemed to calm down a little bit but again this story is continuing to unfold and we don't exactly know how it's going to turn out when all is said and done what will the relationship between China Chinese fans in the Houston Rockets be what will the relationship between China Chinese fans in the NBA be how will the be altered how will that be changed in any way we don't exactly know where it seems to me the one of the things that will be important as if Adam silver can sit down with the Ming who is a great ambassador for Basketball Chairman of Chinese basketball so that could go a long way in mending the damage that has been

"And it's it's not to diminish that but but it's a different sport I will agree with you. what it is yes and for whatever reason it's not looked upon that way for all we want is a reason yeah just for it to be addressed with a coherent reason why the idea now. I think in your profession of of how competitive it is between organizations wins front offices owners are competitive with each other. How much are you ever willing to share with guys you compete against. I've I've had coaches in a league who who are great admirers of yours who'd say I'd love to build a relationship with them. I really we WANNA see how he does it. But you know Miami's a little more close off their. You've been in Miami your whole career. You haven't been the different guys have different places because they've worked. If we're you know lots of people but I think there's always been a sense of like the Miami Culture has been a little more. We don't we're not opening. We're not swing our doors wide open to see you how we do it but sharing among each other like you said when you saw him at a clinic and you're going. I don't know maybe I don't not that. You're going to give something away there that he had scouted her scene. But how do you guys view that within balancing act you know I think it turns out to be relationships ships. As far as I'm concerned I don't go out my way to call share and I get calls. They get a lot of calls and so does slow but it is. You know it's it's a it's a telephone you know when you go to a clinic or something you share with whatever you're trying to share but it is a competition still too and I understand. That's another thing that I've learned. I remember we had Riley opened the door. We had a practice I had practice at your facility because rows at anticipation ship. We'd practice at your facility and we beat you. Guys and Tim comes up to me well. They'll be no more practicing at the Miami Him. Eat you know and that's how you feel like. I have things that I'll do. Anyone can practice in our facility. I'll do that but then I have things things that I am very quirky about you know earlier when I was very quirky about if I saw my assistants talking to the other systems like what are you guys talking talking about what possible conversations right now and this is are complaining about. Ah There's like I say we're not quite as iron curtain as we used to. Yeah we do open up our doors a little bit and you know we don't really necessarily go out of our way to network and kind of an introvert anyway and it just kind out of lines up during the off season. I like to go visit football programs. Just because it's different catches my interest a little bit more on it. You know you talking basketball with your staff and the other people all year long. I like seeing something a little bit different. I relate to them and and it usually ends up being not tactical discussions but it always comes down to personality management and and that's what I find you know probably most interesting about this business. What's the one or two days you guys ever spent outside of basketball whether it was at a football football facility you around ballot check in Boston spinal. You've gone all over. Nfl College football what was one you walk out of there said wow how or a dinner with somebody who was completely outside your element and said I got more out of that than I would have to for a specific reason I saw Pete Carroll uh twice just because not because he's winning super bowls actually before his first super bowl there and there's more just his personality as a so much different than me. I have mentioned I'm an introvert and I like to seek out people. That are a lot different so two years goes you know who is going to see in college. Football is going to see a Dabo swinney any and I'm friends with Butch Jones is very good friend of mine so these to compete against each other but he's such an incredible personality as man if I could have like one percent of so much better coach and ideal relate to my players better but I walked out of both of those not only amazed at thera ability to relate and just the one in nine personalities but also just how you you walk out of their thinking wow. This is my best Ashrat in two days later. They probably have a twenty five other people say to care for me as well just his energy who if you ask anyone. HP Carol Everyone's getting the wrong all coaching and there's no way you see that you know how Bella check with the one for me just because he's so different and I had a chance to speak a couple of times and I love that's phenomenal to there. I would always go to their offense of meetings right before the game I would he gives you great access and you would sit there and I remember the one game they basically said what they were going to they do and they did it and then one guy is outside of sports that just blew me away as Malcolm Glatt well. I had a meeting with him and I realize I said I'm not very smart. You know at that but his ability to kind of understand people was incredible. Docs Bo this was this was a lot of fun. I appreciate you guys doing this. We could do another hour on a whole `nother set of topics but I appreciate you guys doing it. It's data yeah yeah. I love getting spokesman. Listen to what he's really thinking definition of introvert. That's that's great. Thanks for listening to this episode of the woods Pod a big. Thank you to our guest today. "To the rich rich eisen show he is one of the biggest bears fans that i know so. It's a perfect time to have him here plus. He's the head coach of the los angeles clippers and he's got leonard and paul george to throw out there on the court staples this fall good to see you. Doc rivers always nice rich. I mean seniors was attending you money. I think admit that i do believe that i had i had a good day. You did too short game. The day that i played with you was remark. Was i'm gonna say all thaba like while. I'm going to go there well well. That may just fill the soft touch around greens have to have good hands number times. I thought doc is out of his home. And then you pull yourself back in was really i lost my partner that a day was was rough though where i was going to bring him up well okay. Let's so let's talk about last night. What do you think what was that all about. It was awful but <hes> listen. I love their defense. You know that's who they are right. <hes> and you know at the first three possessions with the packers they had minus yards. Yeah you know so. I'm thinking the offensively because we changed coordinator so the defensively i was concerned. Yes <hes>. I <hes> that's going to be okay. <hes> actually think <hes> mitch i think will be fine. I i really do the first guy i'm amazing amazing. None of the quarterbacks <hes> <hes> i had <hes> dinner would golf and it told me they hadn't thrown one pass in the press. I've never heard of that court. He <hes> <hes> rogers didn't i mean brady rarely sits out preseason game number three. He did get a couple and right kristen yeah. He played a little bit but it's but pretty much coach. You'd rather the guy be healthy than absolutely the rust rather than rather than taking rust over an injury. You know now for sure <hes> but it's a great example that you can't no matter how you try to games are different now than anything you can do on the practice they just are <hes> and you could see that from both quarterbacks yesterday yeah i know and plus it was a new system for for rogers in a new coach in his ear new new way of going about his business. He had to be just out of body right. I mean you know he's such an such a veteran. I mean the the passing through the court for the touchdowns. If you know just threw it up and told the guy go get it you know but yeah. That's the new way fan are you. I mean you were you watching the game. At home. I was watching the game <hes> and then the first quarter. I didn't like the location because i didn't like our playing <hes> you in your physical location physically change locations and then in the third quarter <hes>. I'm sitting there with my girlfriend. Were watching the game at a bar okay and i don't like it again and and teller we have to move and go to another location like drive somewhere else was a restaurant in the back part and so i just thought if i changed my seating that things would change nothing changed. I mean you just kept looking at and we're stuck on three forever by the way we we didn't make a real nice ville right. That happens nice. So are you the same when you're coaching but i'm still completely different opposite of that coaching. I'm pretty much <hes> we're gonna do this. You know maybe because i have my own control. Is it true in l. and so maybe that's it. It's probably the way you know watching your kids. <hes> play sports you know i was. I was a little antsy that way as well. You know they have my hat..

After the forty thousand dollar fine it happened at a walk through and after all that the fine letter set off off to the point where he had to be restrained on a practice field in front of the general manager so the raiders have to do something at least to have better standing to get all of their to basically say to antonio if we welcome you back and you do it again. "Again speaking of the clippers the sterling affairs by part series from thirty for thirty podcast of the undefeated now available the sterling Donald sterling era we certainly one that was a black eye for the NBA the thirty for thirty series reported and hosted by ESPN's Ramona Shelburne this story continues to fascinate me because I don't sterling he acted inappropriately for three decades for thirty years and it all came down to a tape why did this tape bring him down well there was something just about hearing his words on tape here you can know that somebody has beliefs and and you can feel that they're not a good person you can feel that the way they they assert their power over players are people who work for them but when you actually hear his words that's what I think did it that's what I think really broke through but I you know I remember talking to mark Mike Walters who is the guy from TMZ who broke the story and he'd never heard it all sterling he'd never he was not sports reporter he didn't know it was you just knew it was a powerful person and it got me thinking like if this tape comes out earlier if we don't have it TMZ if we don't have a different media culture where you could record somebody on your cell phone and then send it to a gossip website exited to a celebrity website does this even come out because there's certainly been people that Donald sterling has spoken like this too who have heard him speak like this before they just didn't have the receipts they didn't have the tape yeah absolutely I mean theknot what with the ray rice case at center as well or sometimes hearing seeing changes everything we were talking I remember being live during the NBA finals and twenty nineteen with Adam silver as news surrounding sterling continue to break in this all came during Adams first few months in office so in hindsight Ramona how did Adams reaction set the tone for the league and the players going forward well I think one of the biggest takeaway is that I have in in re re re reporting that's right going back in five years later is how close the players in the NBA came to boycotting playoff games over this and how how close to the brink we actually war of shutting down the league and not playing if Adam so doesn't act as quickly and decisively as he did on this now he knew that he was going to actually punish him severely he knew he was going to get rid of him it as fast as he could but he had to keep the peace for four days while they investigated whether or not this was Donald sterling on those tapes where they'd been doctored whether it's been altered he had to keep everyone in line then that would that involve conversations with players doc rivers Kevin Johnson who was then head of the Players Association and for Adams over that to work with the players as a partner in this assuring them I will do the right thing really transform the league in the way that players owners in the league work together as partners and now we see it all the time now I mean Adam silver has open line it feels funny last week actually has has that open might actually be became public and had to change a cell phone number because one of the players he give it is not his number two accidentally posted on social media that's all over his locker out the sterling fares by part series and thirty for thirty podcasts all five episodes now available at thirty for thirty podcast dot com slash

"And he's in Johnson, though, he's I'm never in here. And when you mean, you never in here, you're the head coach doc you have a defense coordinator office coordinator, you run the team and from that day Ford. I said I'm doing this. Now, everyone told me you can't do that. Like, you can't do that. They didn't people would think you're not coaching the team. So, you know, I'm coaching the team, I'm coaching the coaches and the team now, but allows me freedom. And so it's funny when I hired Tom Timoteo the best day was the first day of training camp. You know, Tom, and I you know, we come from dig harder. And bet Riley, and Jeff Van Gundy, we all were. And so the first day of practice. We had already decided how we wanted to work. Tom starts putting the defense, and I walk out of the gym and Tom stops where you going in front of the players as like, I'll be back, and I just kept walking. So at the practices like what are you doing that? Like, I said, no, Tom, you're the defensive coach they need to hear your voice if I'm there, adding in the near not gonna hear you. And I said this is what I've been told to do by football coaches in. This is what we're going to do to tips get mom to get comfortable with that. I saw doing it in shoot arounds. And you know, but it allowed me to coach the team, and it it gave me freedom to really hone in the fence, really even more. So now because when tips made a mistake or now when Rex makes a mistake, I go to Rex and said, why did we do that? This is not what I wanna do. And it allows the players here more voices, and it gave me freedom. But you gotta be secure. Here to do that. And and I was young and did it, and that's the best thing I've ever done is it different. When an African American coach doesn't versa. Why coach? Yeah. For sure not doubt. I just think for I don't know why. But it is when I do it. Then that guys coaching the team, you know, or you know, you couldn't have done it with that. Or that? It's just it's just is doesn't make it. Right. No. You know, is it getting better? Yes. There's no doubt about that. But unfortunately, that's the way it is. And especially probably an African American coach who also played the game. You know, there's a lot of coaches when I took the job, then like my success, and that was fine with that the one thing I've not done, and I probably maybe should have or I don't know because I'm very happy. I never played the coaching be friendship gay. I did it would coaches in other sports, but I've never been one of those guys. Is to it. Ever relationship. Great. If you're an NBA, but I always have a release when my coaches, I don't need to have a relationship with every coach. And but I think because I hadn't coach, and then all of a sudden I'm coaching their coaching lifers early on just didn't like I think Chuck Daly helped me because he was the one pushing me to coach, and it was tough with them argue with him Mike Fratello helped me as well. But I was fine with that. Do you still have to earn it? And that's how I looked at. Remember, you said to me once and you said, listen, the ex players who come in have to learn the hours at takes Jess film and the guys who didn't play who know. Okay. My age is being the film room gone. Have come up that where scouting they've gotta learn to be able to command the respect of the players and some were both of them all meet in the middle somewhere. And they we'd each other out. That's exactly right in those funny. I had a long talk Kendrick Perkins yesterday and he wants to get the coaching. I think is knowledge be great. And but first thing I said, Bert. If you're not ready for the hours, and you're not ready to do things that you never thought you would do demeaning at times, you know, checking balls so some kids you're not going to be a coach if you're ready for the hours, then you can coach. But it takes time tight Lou. I made stay in LA one summer. I banned him from going home to us..

"Us, you know, his numbers and his playoff forms as anyone else would have been looked on as a solid NBA players and the deal essentially throw throwaway late second round pick. Yeah. It was basically got him for nothing. And you look at the productivity there. It was a really good. That was a good deal. It was a great deal for us. And you know, but it was because of his my son, and I actually did I was too naive on that one to get the angst that it would create and it really did create. He also became the easy way out Mike if a player got cut or traded a move and wanted to get back at you. Well, their way was that threw me, well, the midtech also. And then it was too bad for him. It makes him tough skinned clearly, but also always had to explain his relationship. And you know, he wanted to always explain it. Well, you know, my dad, and I aren't that close. Did he had he felt like he had to do those things to validate himself, and I got that. But I think at the end of the day years from now. It's going to be great telling Austin stories about me coaching them in the family thing. You know, right now, we have our relationship is as good as it can be. You know, it's amazing how much we talk. Now. I told him the other day, we talk more now than we ever did when I was go to you. And he's like I wanna talk to you go just saw you every day. So it's it's overall it was right in between the reasons you wanted to be a coach, doc, the reasons that drew you to it, Mary, Pat Riley said you kind of late in your career, you're gonna you guys were going at one day, and he said you're going to coach some day, and you're like never ever want to be you. And you know, you'd think about that. But from why you wanted to do the job. How different is the job. Now do the same things. Hold true at the core has the job in this league chain so much that you almost don't recognize what you thought you were getting into. No, it's that's for someone's ever said. It's a great question. Why I wanted to get in to coaching was because I. Wanted to win. I wanted to be a winner. I had this driving goal to be a world champion. I prayed every night when I was a kid. I wanna been NBA champion never wanted as a player got close a couple of times. And I thought that's why if you ask me now that part is still there like I winning is. I just I love winning. I hate losing a loved one. But now the relationships the kids even some of the guys that I've coached that quite honestly couldn't stand me years later, they come back, and like when perk calls you or or durum strong 'cause you or or run though, which we had a rocky relationship in Boston that went up and down around the when I talk weekly now. Kevin Garnett calls you you realize. That's why you coach, you know, coach to be successful. You do everything in life to anyone that tells you they don't want to be successful is a liar. You know? But then the other stuff that makes. Coaching so cool. And for me, you know, watching share right now, you know, from where she was rookie to wear that now in his rookie year. But still riding him every day knowing there's days, he probably just wish he would go away. And I think he realized I'm not going. I'm going to stay on him. Because I do see greatness in him. And I do think it's my job and she's job to get it out of them. So that's why I still coach. Listen guys are terrible at taking care of their health. Whether it's a knee injury, bad back or something worse. Guys are usually more comfortable with rubbing some dirt on it than seeing a doctor, and I'm guilty of it myself. Well, the same is true for reptile dysfunction..

"Then we're going to build a Rosser around. You. You're still giving a pretty big hypothetical feels like with the clippers. You can say this is what it looks like this is what it feels like. Now, imagine yourself around it, and that's a different situation than almost that most of them Brooklyn similar. I think the only team similar, and you know, one of the things that I talked about early on in the front office with Lawrence and micro owner in those guys I told them that go back and look at her Landau, we had a chance of signing. Tim Duncan we he's decided to stay in San Antonio. We tend to sign I think Eddie Jones and he wanted to come at one point. There was a night where we thought Tim was going to say, yes, Tracy grant in any all at the same time we have money for two. Yeah. And we were literally sitting in the. Room. Okay. What sue do we want here? You know, and Tim was the easy one yet. But then it came down to Tracy McGrady and Grant Hill, and that was one heated discussion. But the reason they wanted to come in my opinion was because of that team that I mentioned that I love coaching when forty one and forty one they saw all those row players. They saw guys planned fast heart and fund, and they were magin themselves with all those row players and you hit on it. Right. I think most people think stars just want to join a bunch of stars. No stars would want to write row players around them to make them even better stars in. Clearly, they need another star with them as well. That's why I think this works. When's the last season? You felt like you enjoyed the job coaching is much as you seem to be enjoying yourself this year that that's a good question. You know, the first three years in Boston. What KGAN those guys they were great. I know a lot of things to go. Right. Cagey was a savior of that group because he wanted to win he'd had everything else. He was over him. And that pushed Ray in Paul. They had the join in because of Kevin's leadership other than that my first year in Orlando. You know might bring the great broadcaster, very good friend of mine. He texted me last week. You said are you having as much fun as I think you're having? I said, you know, as a coach there's you wanna drive to practice going thirty five in a fifty five. And then there's as you wanna drive seventy five in the fifty five. I said I'm doing one hundred every time I get the car. I want to get to my guys. And that's how you feel. It's a great feeling when you look at the group of you that were doing both jobs in the NBA things can go in cycles, and it was time typical where we're in Minnesota now across the street time tiptoe here and STAN Van Gundy, Detroit, Mike, moon, Jose. Atlanta, and you out of the four you're the only one still left who had both titles..

"Don't forget to subscribe and leave a five star review. I Chris resorts this with Colin coward to explain the Doc Rivers to the Lakers rumor, Chris Broussard, let's bring him in former New York Times guy, Fox Sports radio, I heart radio. All right. My theory on this stuff, you're a dog at reporter New York Times. I mean, you can't work for the New York Times, unless you're a real pro Europe rose pro that place done just hire any old, you know, loud mouth. Right. So you've broken stories before. And I've always had a theory stories are broken when somebody wants him broken is that they can closed doors very easily to joy, you and me. So the Lakers the narratives bad Luke's getting fired clippers or fun. It's been a bad two weeks of press for the Lakers. Suddenly in a two day stretch docs, interested makes the Laker jobs seemed very desirable. Number one. Secondly, Koby comes out best friends with rob Pelinka and says corset trait all the young guys. Why because Kobe still has Jews, and it sort of looks like, you know, the rumors the little guys got to. Over it, it shifts narratives Rosita Wli for the front office. Kobe and Kobe's juice in LA is rising. Yeah. I mean, he's obviously was all time. Great and beloved by everybody in LA before. But seeing LeBron failed to lead them to the playoffs in all the extra stuff. The Brian is brought people are now looking at Colby and even higher regard than they did before. So. Yeah. For him to come out. And look I think I've said it on this show. I was told that everybody was like, oh, the pelicans were league and everything I was told the Lakers relief and stuff too because they wanted people to know. Oh, we're all in on his we people didn't think we went all in on Paul George people didn't think we went all in on Kawai point. We are all in on. Anthony Davis is trying to get it done. This is a great point. Is that listen the Lakers. This is a big media market. I used to live out in Connecticut. There was no question that teams reacted to WFAN..

"Now. It really does. I can tell you I've broken up and some I've watched because I thought this is good, you know, and it needed to happen. And you know, some you have to get in early 'cause you can see. Yeah. And you got to watch that I played with the Knicks, and we had Charles, Oakley and Anthony Mason. Greg. I mean, there's there's some fights that you had to break up. Yeah. So DaMarcus cousins is still on ice for Golden State says he's going to try to play after Christmas. How will that work? How will that fit? I don't know. But it's going to work. I mean, listen, they were the one team that could take the chance really when you look at it because of his injury. No one wanted to rehabilitate them. And then lose them, you know. And so I thought it was smart for him. And I thought smartphone Golden State and he's too good. Not to help them. Now. I don't know how. But he's just too good. I think is passing underrated. He's a great passer and that fits it does what they do. So it's going to help them. That's that's what concerns me is because to get book at his best. He needs to ball. Well, and they're the ball is hot potato. And I know he wants to win a ring. But in order for him to get that contract that he wants he's gonna have to put up numbers. Well, how does he get the numbers in that system? I don't think you need the numbers. I think in these the wins because if he plays and they win he'll get the number. If he plays just the numbers, and they lose he'll get the blood. But what about when people say well that was he was like that he was on his best behavior and Golden State. How can we be assured that when he comes here, and there's no caught your liking Goldens. Now, he's going to be on his best behavior. And then they'll bring them into a bad. Culture. And he I think, you know, listen, I hope it doesn't work. Just just explode. But at the end of the day, if it does work, you know, I think he would have learned a lot of things, and I think behaviors behavior like if he quote unquote, behaves himself, then he's learn how to write, and I don't think you regress. I think you learn how to win you become a winner. I don't think that changes are guys we're gonna take a quick rake, and we'll have more. Coach Doc Rivers still with us. Thanks for being here. Thank you early over way to practice. Other players women to stay here. So quick thoughts on the Eastern Conference. Obviously Jimmy Butler goes to the Sixers Celtics have been hit and miss, you know, this history there, but Kyrie at a big game last night as they want it New Orleans. Nice win for them you'd beat Milwaukee. There's this team from Toronto the has his number two now to dog. He would he refused to address Kawai Kawai left San Antonio. He. I'm going to the cue word. On my team, your thoughts who looks like will come out of that uses tough as well. They're top heavy. I still think Boston is the favourite, but Toronto's right there. They really are. Then the walkie. I mean, there's some good teams of these right now. Fairly Phillies there too. You know now, they are Philly closer. Now. Everyone said before can they close? Can they close games, you know? Bringing Jimmy they do now have a closer that's gonna make them tough. That's Demi gives them value is his ability to score down the stretch. Will you saw Milwaukee beat them? There's no what do you think about the free? He's he's a mess is tough Durant. Lebron and the him just far as preparing for. I mean, it's funny unless a defensive minded guy, but there's times in the meetings talk that that'll work that's gonna work because they're that good. And he doesn't such different way. You know, he didn't do shot. He doesn't with the attack and his size. He's. To do to try to build a wall sound like Donald Trump, and I never went. Maybe sick. But but you do you have to build a wall at the basket. The problem in what bud has done which is doing is. They all the shooting around. So while you're building the wall. He's throwing it out because he's a great passer..

"Your form. He he needs more than that. He needs to therapist. Doc Rivers will join us coming up. Get your phone calls. What was docked from the line dock strikes me is guess seventy seven percent from the line. Checking seventy seven is the over under. Yeah. Wow. Dance seventy eight and a half percent from the line career rivers. Yeah. Yeah. I'm ever. I'm ever playing Papa shot with Doc Rivers. Dominate. I don't I don't think. So you know, like Papa shots just a little game. Like, this isn't like really shooting though, it's different. But the I think dominated me don't low pop shop. Let me see can I get a couple of phone calls in here. Let's see Mike in Wisconsin leads us off. Hey, mike. What do you have today? Eight six six three spinal fuse to thirty five. I have to agree with Seaton's opinion on living bell. I, you know, I think most of the fans for the first nine weeks of the season didn't realize that they'll play out his rookie contract. He hasn't had a chance at free agency. Yet, you know, he's been take two years. You know, most these get to play and they can test the market, and you know, bell has been taking a lot of heat. I think from especially the fans that don't really understand. He hasn't even had a chance yet. You know? He hasn't been able to do a sign and trade or Pittsburgh hasn't signed him. And you know, you have to respect what he's doing for the year sitting here. Yeah. He made a decision but soda the Steelers. I I just don't think it's fair that we look at the Steelers in there the bad guys here their business. They ran it as a business. They were trying to get him for something cheaper. You franchise him. He's the one that said he was coming back, and he was going to have his best year ever. And then. Never came back in. But if he was told to take the deal, but he he decided that he didn't wanna do it. And that that's on him. But it doesn't mean that you can't criticize what his decision was. I think we look at him. Well, that's a mercenary look at what he did. He did it for his reasons, and we're going to see if it all plays out in his favor. The Steelers did it for their reasons. And we'll see how it plays out for them. You can have both of them that lose. He doesn't get that money in the Steelers flame out in the playoffs. That could be a scenario as well that they both lose. Yes. But at this seem like the team gets the benefit of the doubt where it's like, hey, this is a business. They're running a business over there for some reason. When a player does it it's personal. They're both business. He's a bad teammate. Now. I don't know if I want that guy in my locker room a guy who thinks that it does become personal with the player. Whereas the team it's like, hey, this is just smart business. I think it's both. They're both business decisions. The tricky part is you're bringing a guy back to your team where your offense lineman have already spoken about him. And this is a team that leads the league drama every single year. That's that's where it's it's personal. Because of that. And I look I think Pittsburgh did what they needed to do given the situation there and later on bell vol. I don't agree with it. I understand it. You know, he's basically saying I'm trading in fourteen and a half guaranteed for thirty thirty five guaranteed. I wanna make sure I get the thirty five guaranteed. I understand that avoiding injury. But imagine if he came back and all of a sudden, he says you can use me, but you can use me eleven times a game. Like see that's where it was going to be silly..
