Okay you watch him and cast you watching that. Oh yeah yeah. I dig it me too. I got something for you that you may not be aware okay. I was watching the program a few years ago. Meeting had jim brown. Gale sayers on the show so the whole was asking them about fantasy football so we asked him brownie said What would you who would be your backfield mate if you had to pick anybody said i p gale sayers so you said Who the quarterback he said johnny unites so they got around gale sayers. That skill says the same thing he picked jim brown but the quarterback he picked with peyton manning. Also i got something for you that you old enough to know dan. Beard off was doing a indianapolis colts game. And he says something that always resonated with me he say for all you. Young people who've never seen johnny united's play. This is what it used to look like. So why always pick. John unites and the greatest quarterback. Nfl says you know we we. Thanks for the call on do we did a on on on Our our hall of fame coverage this summer. A mount rushmore of quarterbacks. 'cause you know peyton was going in and none of us included. Johnny unites and boarded twitter. Light up at us big time. Like what is your malfunction. So i i put brady manning and elway and montana. Those are my foot. That's the whole thing with mount rushmore. You're never gonna get it right. But it was elway montana brady in manning. How can you get that wrong. You know that's not yours. You swap out man. I know you know. I would have made me. I was a big pain manning. Fan growing up I don't know if joe montana's in there oh them's fighting words from. I remember when you guys did that segment. I wanted to talk about some god. We're them fighting words come on. I think it's easy to wami. He played in a very comfortable era of no free agency so he had the same players on his team every year for a decade. Plus right so did i mean soda did not didn't well not not since two right. Obviously one free agency came into being in the middle was right in the middle of the the cowboys or or right after the cowboys Triplet run so. But i i mean you can't sit there and say jerry rice with a walked or john taylor walked or whatever you know but so then you don't do so then you don't love pays them well. Everybody does so you think you remove you have to include more modern day people more. I'm more in the modern era because free agency and having that sustained. Excellence making your teammates better. That's a that's important. Who is your four. So then you haven't given me your four. I'm still thinking about it. Who's your man for. Greatest quarterbacks you know i i love. I love doing these things in brady's once radio three brady's one and you know i always love to pay respect to those who came before hand right but i never saw johnny united play football. I know that johnny did either. You know. I know he's great. I'd never saw him though. So it'd be hard for me to put him on my mount rushmore. Even though i know he probably should be on So that's tough. But you know. Obviously joe montana from me. Being a teenager really quarterback he was the men so say brady. You have to say montana. What's the difference between joe. Montana and terry bradshaw. There's there's there's a it's just a different flavor in what you liked what you didn't like you know i don't know montana is always the king of winning at the very end and winning when you needed a most and that's why put them up there. I mean you. The name do was joe cool and that made it sounds could put like he was joe cole labor up i put notre dame guy on the list i get it but go for you got. It's hard rich. But i'll tell you this much right. I've said this for years about aaron rodgers. i know brady is recognizes. The goat aaron rodgers makes throws that. I've never seen another quarterback. Edsa may soon have this conversation about ten years from now on the homes is on it. And i'm kicking somebody off you know. That's this john. But john elway did it before aaron rodgers. That's why he's on my list true. That's why is this is a tough one. You gotta do it. I did it so you gotta do it now. Go brady yeah montana. Yeah yeah i is marino. Oh man this is tough down with way. I'm gonna put the homes on these. Okay so what is it. What's your mount rushmore. It's it's brady. It's peyton it's elway and it's patrick mahomes. Okay so you're going more more up to speed of modern day all right while put mahomes on there. I mean it's a little early in. I got nobody surrounded by. Chris has got a great point. Like patrick mahomes is going to. I know he's going to. He's frontloading the longevity that required come on now all right brady. He's willing to do. You need a phone a friend. I feel like i'm reach us all of a sudden but do you need elway. Your get fifty fifty marino was on. I think kurtz lists. I thought he was marina was on. Somebody's list. I'm like oh marina. Oh okay so what are got its brain whereas the ellwood brady. Yeah montana yeah marino and dak tariq. C'mon let's go with it. So you're mount rushmore. Is is who again one more time. Brady marino mo montana right aikman there you haven't. I gotta be a dallas homer. I think people are expecting. This will give the people what they want their government. It's tough man to talk again. He did not take the middle k. Eight four four. Two zero four rich did on friday. And cody rhodes coming up here on pico. Because as i said my back was turned. I didn't see which ki- i picked and i've never watched the episode. He's definitely did not take so you're like the guy who loses the super bowl and then never watches the game film. I have it recorded on my tv. I've never watched how you can't walk. Why would you watch. I mean look you're gonna learn from your mistakes is one of the greatest thrills of my career to be on the daily show with john stewart. I cannot watch that appearance back. Game fills the he's look. We've looked you know what. I've watched multiple times so happy about that. You guys reaction video the what we did live day. I've watched that so many. I watched it last night and i laugh about something new almost every time. I've watched that. But no i've never seen the episode it sitting there just seven watch. Why would you. I mean it's not like you're gonna go back on that show again. You can't write ten years that what it is. It's a little ridiculous to make you wait ten years. That's a long time. This music is the introducing the products. Music adheres tj. It's either eighty dollars zero or fifty four dollars and tears rather bacher popcorn machine..

"Dial set up the rest of our show. The roads family cody and brandon talker. Will wrestling more football. Coming up okay. Couple of notes that wound up being at the bottom of this shoebox. The i hadn't seen in a year because we're moving offices. Thank boxes that rich. A call hong collection shoebox comfortable shoes math. After i was nominated for my first emmy award at Nfl network big moment for me. I'm seen this nears. This is on. Nfl films stationary rich. Congratulations on the emmy nomination. You have not only done well but you have made everyone around you better awesome. Good luck sad claim to i mean. I don't know why did before but and it was a big moment for me man. You know leaving indication. It was so big. Everything was so big earlier on you know it and and it all started off on very neat note. Steve bornstein Who who i said is my i call my rabbi. An all time great executive sports executive i say he was so smarty hard twice at espn and nfl network. And i remember talking to him. You know I remember talking to him early. On when we were you know was talking to me about coming to nfl network. What was going on at espn. And i'll just said you know the thing that really kind of upset me to be honest was that they had all these sportscenter anchors that they were doing bobbleheads for and i wasn't one of them. Oh at that point. I was there focus. And i'll like that. Just shows you that. They don't view me as marketable right like they don't view me as a face front marketable person that they're going to do that. So i told that. The steve bornstein and i got a note from him when i finally agreed to be with. Nfl network. and here's the note right away in. His voice were welcomed nfl network. I can't tell you how pleased i am. That you're my new quote unquote franchise go-to guy number one draft pick. You will you. All you are always you have always been bobblehead worthy to me. Ask dope man. That would that's it and he handed. That came along with that note. Was this bad boy. There's only a handful of these. We've had this one up on the wall. That's the story behind. This bowel really edgy. That the he created a handful of bobbleheads he had one. I got one. You know some other people who helped launch. Nfl got one to as to give it to the. I got one rich. But i have not seen the note and forever great idea. The note was at the bottom of this box. Run running the to steve's sable and bornstein bread that brought when you get a bobblehead no i do not have employee of the month so those are some interesting notes. How about that. They're in great shape. You know why. I haven't seen time. It's my favorite impression. You do by the way you buy ritchey boy back here on the rich eisen show eight four four. Two zero. Four rich is the number to dowling up my bobblehead. Right.

"I don't win the title to come back and teams up and try to do it again and answer the credits and face the fire And put yourself out there. That's what makes four so great because when you actually are able to pull it off you realize two things how hard it was is the one thing which i don't think people appreciate how hard it is to win and and so And then the second thing is that you can based fire and go to it. And that's what makes it great. So yeah that's the only way to quiet them Rich by winning. So where does everything stand right now. What's your game plan here if it is in fact true as part of the bomb that that that there's been no communication since since he told you his intention to stay away from training camp. No communication over the last couple of week But we we still talk to his agent. several players. Still talking been You know. I always look at you. Know use aaron rodgers as the example. I remember that the spurs trading on elliott now and the physical failed. He said i'll never play again there. he comes back and they win the title together. So as you know. And i know things can change but we just gotta keep communicating and get through to them and maybe we can chase and then the other part after there's been a four year deal so this is all really into teams in on what we wanna do and we're just gonna do what we feel is right for the tape and i think that's the most important bar and that is to keep ben simmons right now okay right now doc. Rivers here on the rich eisen show. Do you think justin field should be starting what do you think what do you think about that. I trust the coach. I coach nagy just appeals to get out there and get hurt from from lack of blocking But i do love him. I think he's gonna be actually quarterback. Sometimes we have to be patient in this world. Is that a word anymore. Patient now i i. I know it's just you know. The the concept of take your lumps now and you know can can get you where you need to go faster. You need. Take a look at justin herbert year to if if he had sat last year you know he'd be taken his lumps now. Just that whole concept. Obviously you just don't know how the lump taking can actually even a permanent mark literally or or or stunt the growth that's-that's. Obviously the you know. Justin herber is more of a fallback quarterback we're fields is so athletic and runs You know. I think she would actually take more lumps. Say so you know. I love the bears to my team. i'm frustrated in really. What's the coaching. it's More sometimes with the are picking process. Let's just say that And so I feel like he's in good. So we're all podcasts can be acquired right now Everybody should check it out. Some fascinating stuff from speeches and discussions and interviews with doc rivers and that one with urban meyer and and tim tiba where they together. Did you get them together. Or separately fabric. That would have been phenomenal separate same day. And what was great as you could tell they'd been together for so long each one tote the same story a couple of times without the other one being there and i was like. Wow these guys are really tied together doc. Thanks for the time really. Appreciate it at doc rivers on twitter and of course this documentary podcast called. It was said sports were all podcast. Gonna be acquired. New episodes available on wednesday episode. One is already out. Don't go anywhere without. It was said sports in your phone. Doc thanks for the time. Thanks rich high. I will do that. Should that by the way. Those are favorite words in the history of this show. I'll be honest. I said hi. Magus doc rivers right here. On the richeisenshow texter. Tell her dachshund. What do you think six fan. I think he's right. Now he's gonna be there and to both look they have to they have i mean they have to make sure that he's there so they get the best trade value for him if that's what they really want do him come back and just saying we're gonna do it again. He basically said he's got four years left on his deal. I mean let's four years left on a deal number one team last year in the conference. It's just like i you know obviously caught up in the rapture as they say in the heat of the moment. But you've calmed down a little bit. Now it's like we're not going to get value for him so we got to find a way to make it work because dame lillard unfortunately isn't coming through the door just yet So just again thinking about here. The even that mrs i think the jets how to get rid of sam darnold for new coaching staff not to own his three years of misfortune and injuries and and and everything that had been done to him and not enough for him and all that don't don't sound that a new coaching staff. The differences here is that you know. Obviously it's not a new coaching staff. But the point. I'm trying to make by pointing out. Darnold is that had darnold state. And even if he had won a couple of games to three or four games and then it didn't materialize. Same thing different. Coaching have same thing. And now what that. Even if ben simmons and everybody kisses and makes up and he realizes what rogers i realized in green bay's i i'm not being traded so i'm either staying home or threatening retire and neither of those are great options because i like to play and that if that is in fact finally dawning on ben simmons and they do get together and they do have a regular season similar to last year and the playoffs hit and he starts missing free throws and passing shots all boy. Then you're back to square. One doesn't matter doesn't matter i think i'll has just take back. Take a shot. Like we see him. Go for twelve in over one. The be completely honest with you. Might i think the fate as a fan. I'm sure that's what just the says. He wants back magin sitting in that room. And him saying yeah. That's not gonna work out. Ads spoken in two weeks. We'll take a break. We'll come back eight four four two four rich number to.

"Wherever you get your your podcasts doc let's let's get to the here and now With with you and your team the wo- do bomb as it is in our profession about a conversation that ben simmons reportedly had with the franchise. And you are part of said franchises. The head coach that he never intends to put on a sixers uniform again. Is that what he told you. Doc rivers in that word. But it's so you know it's funny. Retro wasn't much of a bomb because we already knew it but for the world it was. I guess the world being Making us feel like a lot more important than what we really are Before sports fans it was But that doesn't mean that's to happen. Richie around sports long enough is i'm never coming back. I don't wanna come back. And then the next thing you know they're back And so you know we don't take it lightly We do understand The frustrations we understand You understand this when you're in sports and You have your dream but winning some. it doesn't happen for you The mental told her that takes on you and each individual. And so this happened more than we know Then you know i would say But yeah so. We don't take it lightly but we intend to get them back and we wanted that dablam back well in terms of that What did he say. Were the issues Now up to something you know. Many of them are completely obvious. I mean the the fans reaction to his playoff series And of course him not dunking a ball and passing it was sort of a microcosm of whatever potential problems he was having. We're going through. Do i mean. I think it's all that but it was funny like that. One play got so much. Playing people forgot that he did make ask in in Matisse got filed matisse miss one maybe one throat so that play was only it cost one point you know what i mean We didn't come up with you at play having said that it's gonna get into all the things That that he voice a lot of was pass stuff that You know happened years ago. obviously the frustration. How you know just being went during the play offs but one of the things i kept reminding ben and i remind things up. Is that trio with five for twenty four in game seven He wasn't five to twenty four because no one was guarda. He was five to twenty four because then guard. You know. embiid has a value rich To the team. That is not as obvious as the integrate score. You know. it's so easy to look at a guy thirty points and you can equate that value to the team is very difficult to see. The value that been less has or dennis rodman has or charles. Oakley has been tim on the team because he's he doesn't score As natural as some of the great guys but he does so many other things for j. It's but what about the statement that again. This is one of the many reasons why i'm bringing them up to. You is because these are what's being discussed In the medium and certainly being reported that your comment after game seven one asked a direct question. Your post game. Press conference if whether simmons could be a point guard and a championship. Team your responses. I don't know how to answer that right now. And that is apparently what he is so pissed about. That's a great example and enrich. We've known each other a long time. I think i've ever said that's a great example of the media misleading. Something i'm saying. Okay but i'm gonna say that and and i say that if people didn't even take it the next day what i said was the guy. It was the first question after game. Seven and i say exact words guys. I'm not answering that question. I don't even know how to answer that question. Right now I was answering the question. Not about being that. I was saying the question was stupid and so i'm not answering their. It had nothing to do with them. And what was disappointing. Is everyone on that on that. On that zoom call. Because that's what we do at the game knew that that's what i was talking about. And then the next day this thing takes his own life and you know me. I don't get out and try to. I'm not gonna call me. But that's not what i said But i had the opportunity to do it now. And i'm doing it And it's obvious you go back and play What's been reported. Then i met what true And i'd say that the next day. After that i said i absolutely believe we can win a world championship with benson and just the last one on this subject for you doc. I mean you've been around the block many many many times. Certainly in the northeast. Even if you. And ben simmons or the franchise and ben simmons can can tend to get together and ben's issues that he has can be bridged in the same way look at Green bay did with rogers. I mean it was the same thing throughout new offseason. Use a bears fan. I'm sure you're rooting for the other result with rogers. Not showing back up in green bay. But you know it can happen. What about him with the fans. It just seems that the fans and i that was my assessment. Ben simmons is a terrific player but in philadelphia. He's maybe no longer a viable athlete. There how how do you deal with that. You know. I i listen they. I been all year as far as with the fans and this crazy narrative somehow they have about him Been stripped terrific. I know that our players know that And but the only way to quite vans is we have to win. And that's what i you know. I don't wanna get too dramatic here. But isn't that would make sports great like every year every year. You know. Chris webber speech in the hall of fame. was phenomenal because he talked about not ever winning title but having the opportunity every year each year..

"These are all our new partners. Essentially after a long time that we were on the air on audience I right here on the campus of direct tv now at and t. these bringing up one of our first guest that we had in studio was when he was a head coach. The los angeles clippers. Doc rivers came by diehard bears. Fans always likes talking about the bears He's but there's there's some other items on the agenda right now he's got a new podcast coming out and he's also got A player who is very famous. Who apparently doesn't wanna play for him anymore. Is he on the phone right now. Has a new documentary. Podcast is out. It's called. It was said sports featuring some of the most important and inspirational sports speeches throughout history folks like muhammad ali billie jean king and hank aaron it's written and directed by noted historian jon meacham but narrated and i hosted. I think one could say by none. Other than the coach of the philadelphia. Seventy sixers doc rivers. Whose back here on. The rich eisen show on the mercedes benz vans phone line. How are you don rich. I am doing fantastic My bears one last week. s the podcast out okay. jon meacham. Everything's good okay. That's good so let's take this one of the time we'll put a pin in the bears will pull that one later So so you now get to say what many people in the world said including myself. I have a podcast. You get to say these words now doc. Those awards i can tell you. I never thought i would never say i am You know i've never done anything like this but job mitchum. If you don't know you should know you wanted to. Great political writers of our time Actually wrote john Joe biden's Acceptance speech president biden's acceptance speech and he called in today. Would you like to do a podcast together. And i'm thinking an nba coach and a political writer. What do we have to talk about number one and and can we pull this off. I thought it was just so interesting. That i jumped for and i had a ball doing it. And so you spoke to our michael's urban meyer. Stray michael strahan and so each each one of these. Podcasts includes a conversation based on a famous sports speech that you're pulling on some of the threads at from the speech of the time and how it works today. Is that the way that this works really. None was just the speech but sports happenings like henry. Aaron tastes To break babe ruth record you know talking to people Do the dusty. Baker stuff is is absolutely unbelievable Just what hank. Aaron went through You know mohammed ali and just you know what he went through with not going to the draft and going you know through his career and what he stood for ten people speech. You know the promise And talking to tam. Urban meyer You know the first one came out last week and that was the nine eleven jack buck. If you remember jack bucks speech and the role that sports play in that in society and it's bigger than just bored sometimes. So it's it's it's been great. I tell you for me. The interviews were great but doing the readings for me. I found it very difficult now. I have to say this rich. That's hard for me to say. But i have new respect for you. Let me just say that just being a narrator is not easy you know the words and the time but you don't realize it until you have to read the mom plus your voice You know you shoot it. Basically between november and june right. I mean so you just. You're screaming and yelling. You gotta save your voice. Your voice is definitely distinct so What did you learn doc. I mean that did you interview dusty for for the hank. Aaron episode is out. The stuff was really cool. And and that you know obviously oppressor that that was under but the press of the whole teams under but you learn other stuff more like does. She was talking about when they travel Or all the black players no matter what city they would go to. Obviously they had problems eating at restaurants and saying hotels but the stars every team would invite the other black players from the opposing teams over the debtor. He said every trip you went on. You would go over someone else's house And and have dinner In talk The black bears. It's like when they go to cincinnati. Pete rose would invite them. Oh so it was just really interesting to see the commodity that the sports have Back in in baseball Some really neat neat stuff. Tim tebow told her really could story about athlete said the speech even in the elevator and a bunch of reporters are in there but he had his hood on. They know he was in there and they were talking about. Can you believe that guy said that speech. That was awful really. Yeah that's really cool to hear all these guys and all their stores did he take his often saved my floors here and just get off and then press all the other buttons and then run out they would be elevator. That's average in people's way offers and then he went right back up to the locker room and send them winning. Start working out. That's what tim we do see. That's it. I'm more spiteful a definitely more spiteful new yorker doc rivers here on the rich eisen show documentary. It was said sports With some terrific stories. Some terrific speeches memory lane stuff and then as doctors point out. Make you smarter and you hear some great story season. One launched on september eighth new episodes available wednesdays..

Dj congratulations on on On everything that's going on with you we're going to keep an eye on new throughout the season Definitely flashed but you also have what it takes to be a football player outside the flash and that's part of the reason why you're the toughest player on planet earth this week. Thanks for the call. Thanks for everything. You got it adds. Dj graham right here. The toughest player on planet earth on the rich eisen show and the award is brought to you by gorilla. Rela glue for the toughest jobs on planet earth that i love meeting these kids. Man at school love mutinies. Kids all stories. I know cool stories. And just like a defensive player to say i i will wreck something just to put it back. Let's take a break doc. Rivers on the other side. What is up with ben. Simmons is relationship with him the organization's relationship with him and more that's next. I've got my box good. He still from boxing. You're going this is These are some relics here. Here's one relic When paul tagliabue's said he was retiring and then it was wide. Open competition. If you will for commissioner of the nfl on nfl total access. I decided to have a campaign would be commissioner worse and they made up buttons. That's a rich eisen for commissioner button at got made up right there and i used to wear it sometimes. My suit and the people still do buttons and twenty twenty one. I don't know but back five six. Oh seven and now. Here's something from my. Espn days now tj. This is i think a good lesson for you. Okay and that you're gonna hear all sorts of crap from people certainly online. You see everything that's part your job is to see everything in and nothing is personal. It really shouldn't be taken as such because everybody's got opinions just like you know what's right true that so this came across. I put these two together these things together at my beginning at espn to teach me. That lesson tacked it up against the wall to different emails because back in the day on sportscenter they were asking people for help on the digital knows that ended sportscenter remember they. Did you know that we would always rely on research. Sometimes they said hey email research and that was just like so. These are two emails that i got. Put it up on the screen. The top one did you. No okay somebody wrote and did you know keith. Olbermann and rich eisen of the best sports anchor since the beginning of time right then that was in ninety seven and ninety six. Somebody sent to did you know. Did you know that rich eisen is actually a circus. Monkey dressed in poorly tailored suit. And that is why as a completely incompetent sports broadcaster two different suggestions for did you know and i take them together. That's all and i would. You can see. There's a whole up here. Pinned it to the board. That was in my prefabricated cubicle. And espn and then. When i cleaned out my desk i on pinned it and took it with me. And i put it in. A shoebox sat in my office. That i just opened up after however long it's been i have not seen this in a long time about it and i am still two things one of the best sports anchors of all time and a circus monkey dressing poorly so kind of a message that you're gonna hear all different opinions. Don't take any of them. Don't read the combat all. Don't.

"You know corners out the biggest on the field so when we do what we do again in the cases you have to bring it. That's bring bring all of us you know. We can't just put in there on okay. I love this. I love this. Dj graham because you know one thing you did leave out is is you know fundamentals being situationally smart so i am mandated. Say since you are a rich eisen show gorilla glue toughest player on planet earth. You do realize that the interception that got everybody's attention was on fourth down. Your should've batted the ball down right. Dj you're wear that okay. I wanna make sure. Because i think if i'm not mistaken lincoln riley was thinking of challenging. That hoping you did not in fact grab it with your one hand and come up with the wild play of the year because it cost a few yards of field position right dj. I was a little. You know. I guess looking at in ad i had a even think like okay i. I did them back. But you know. See ball get ball see your and then ballers like trae young. Put you on instagram accounts. And then trae young wasn't the only basketball player that day. I think shawn kemp was there. Took a wait a minute. No that's you coming to the game. Aren't you coming to the game in shawn. Kemp gamers dj live. I'm sorry i thought that. Was you in a shawn. Kemp gamer coming to the game. That's not you know it was no no. Yeah that was that was last week. I was in a i i was. I was a little throwback. Talk kim yeah okay. Because i thought that was you. So what's what the shawn kemp jersey. What's with that well. Well rich i. I do have a lot of jerseys okay. "Mean. I think it's not the same but one that what what i'm saying is one one. One quarterback is learning system and learning league. The other quarterback has learned the league already. But it still learning system in needs needs the crotch jared goff cow needed crutch of of of a wristband and even payton in in the manning cast was saying at some point. He's got to get rid of that because he's veteran. And the way he's been in the league we could literally parse this out down to the final syllable but the concept of apples to apples being that there is a veteran that needs a crutch to actually call play. And there's a kid that actually needs to be brought up to speed to have the ability to call a play. Are the apples to apples. That i'm pointing out right here and there was a choice. I just thought it was a wrong choice. Did you think it was the right choice. Is that what you're intimating right here. I'm just saying if you're going to start the kid week one you don't. You don't have a veteran there because then you always start. The veteran coaches always do that. We've seen this for years and years and years unless you draft him so damn high and you've been waiting for kid like this. Also though we never saw practice will know how he looked. of course. I know we're not there. I'm just saying you'd rather have had that experience against aaron donald they sprinkle elemental bit all night long. Getting his brains beaten and potentially year in los angeles would have been helpful. But now here we go and i think he's never coming out. That's what i think. It's done a threat. amanda you. you're going to say i mean unless he is so overwhelmed and overmatched. I don't know if they have to hit his laws. But not i mean zach. Wilson looked so overwhelmed and overmatched. And i have no problem. Thrown him back in. Because i have no choice. I think the bears really have no choice. Not just because the kids. I mean if the guy andy dalton andy dalton will be starting i would be livid livid if that happened probably going gonna go. Far needs this time livid this time is valuable him getting his brains beaten in being you know being lit up by twelve year old on tick-tock which apparently just happening right. Now everybody sending me this video. Show it later on here. That's helpful all of it. The booze helpful all of it the headlines the twenty four seven three sixty five roasting he might be taking locally in new york city. You're gonna have to go through the lowest man. That's what i think. And if he can't handle you chose the wrong guy we'll see but that's the news out of chicago. Let's change gears now. Let's give away a thousand dollars and free glue product because the name image and likeness laws in college athletic world. Allow us to. We have hooked up with our friends at gorilla glue each week. We handed out the award called the toughest player on planet earth and this week. We handed to a kid at a position. One time out of the toughest position on college planet earth has to be in my mind right defensive back in the big twelve where there's no conscience literally the big twelve offense. They play like their twelve year olds hopped up on a bag. It skills playing a video game. Sixty six to sixty three final scores right. I mean just. It's nonstop and so to me. That's one of the toughest position on planet earth and toughest player on planet earth at that position. Certainly this past week. For oklahoma is dj graham known as dj graham the second on a fourth and log against nebraska and a tight game you know nebraska on the plus side of the field deepen oklahoma's n. Thrown for the end zone. Dj graham leaps up and makes a one handed grab and it goes viral not only go viral on twitter calling one of the greatest interceptions of all time but trae young is standing on the sidelines. Their rights in front of him unreal and he popped out his phone and he recorded it and it went on his instagram and it went everywhere. Ten tackles as well. Seven solo in the game in three games played this season and converted wide receiver. Now playing defensive back. Dj gran is Is our guys. Is he on the phone. Line right chrispy is he. Is this week's gorilla. Glue toughest player on planet earth from the oklahoma sooners. Please welcome dj graham here on the rich eisen. Show you us yes dj. I'm doing great how y'all doing i'm doing fine. Yeah you're doing. Great congratulations on on winning this award. In holding down the The secondary along with your teammates for oklahoma obviously part of what put you on our radar screen. Was that one handed interception that you came up with this past week. Did you see trae young. Got that on his instantly. He put it on his grandma. Did you see that dj. I did Matter of fact even even before the game warm us. Who's soon who's dude this mountain kelly. I didn't even. I was like wait a minute. I thought the big chains on the okay. There's gotta be somebody big time but no i. Yeah i had like of course. I saw everywhere like trae young view and i saw trae young's reaction which was because prices but now it was. It was really cool. It has to be really cool. Who else did you hear from after coming up with what people are saying is the interception of the year in college. Football period Adrian peterson's Cd lamb kenneth. Murray kenny stills and kovin. Just do that. That are oh. Yeah joe makes it also like just you know you register and it's it's so it's so weird to the to be in. I'm like that especially amongst like you know players like that and it replays. Also people players that i that i grew up watching in players that you know. They made such a big impact. Oh dell has have you heard from beckham. oh my god my idol by all of that was literally those living my my Which was i guess. I probably most proud of that one. sorry oh you alumni but short down when that just me away he did he did he send you a message. Juror d d m you or do you put something. I'm not. i'm not that big time yet. Paul he makes me into tweet You know he said Allows that was a heck of a grab take number nine but you know that's why that's enough that's all i need. Well i mean look And and it is not easy doing what you're doing. I mean. I can only imagine being a defensive back in the big twelve. Talk about being on an island. All my gosh. You are on an island so obviously this is a spectacular single play. But what about your your approach to the game. You know we. We've heard about you. We looked into it. That's part of the reason why we also appreciate giving this award to. You is your approach. And i'd love for you to just put that one out there By opposed to being being a corner is first of all. I mean it's football Division one and you know there's there's the on the other side of baldur's there's a person that is athletic or more 'cause you and he's just football and football players are going to happen So you have to accept that part that okay you're not gonna be perfect on every rep and they're going to get beat on someplace and you have to have a short memory as a corner. My coach michael's mickens. You always used to tell me you can't you can't you can't lingering on on place you have to have a short memory but it put it in your mind and it's the next rep In the next day you gotta have you gotta take Everybody's good now. Everybody's fast everybody big if you have technique. Nobody's y'all sanders. No i mean you. Don't wanna i don't wanna ford one so for two so i have to. I had to bring to the table and And i and then once i bring to the table talent and my boss will take care of everything else and I would say the last one I don't think football players not physically. I don't think there's any any soft football players I think physicality is a big part is almost one of the name of the games and football believe is your physical Yeah but you the edge in the middle as on on your politics and.

That the rich eisen show hands out every week with our partners at gorilla glue. That's about to happen for dj graham oklahoma but Before we get to him. And i know You know he's he's waiting. There is news that just broke out of chicago news breaking news maker line chicago illinois. Matt nagy says justin fields will start against the cleveland browns. And don'ts got the old bone bruise in the knee and so it begins unless dalton is healthy next week unless justin fields balls out and interestingly enough it is in the state of ohio where he will be making his first career start. Cleveland oh first of all. I can't wait because you got all those browns fans who are also ohio state fans and i'll be just like i. I can't compute all. This is great. I'm lebanon you know. I've got the the napkin tucked in in the knife and fork. That's a delicious meal for me to chew on. but i've also i'll be consistent. This is why just field should have been starting against the rams in week one. Not ready doesn't do. This doesn't it. But lend take his lumps. oh yeah. He's not ready for aaron donald but now he's got to be ready for myles garrett. What's the difference. The difference is we had to do it. It's we had to do it. Well invariably you're going to have to do it. I thought it would invariably we had to do because the house from the fan base would just making an untenable situation but to nagy's credit is sticking to his guns entire time plan was to keep him out as long as possible sprinkle a man and get him up to speed and get him learn. Whatever will now what deep end of the pool. Cleveland browns baby justin fields v baker. Mayfield here we go. Browns defense can pioneers back. I don't know fields can escape that rush. I don't know david montgomery's in my mind at top ten running back in this league you can even push him up higher. Let's say but this is what i say. Get him going get him going because at some point he's gonna have to go in that points now. Wouldn't you wished him to get all of these other reps. I know in theory. The answer's yes. But in practicality the answer was no we got to be smart about it on that or he just wasn't ready. How is that means. If he wasn't ready in week one house ready now how much. How much studying on the sideline in film learning. And now. Because andy dalton's injured he's gotta be ready now. He's no choice. Correct me no choice. Like albert said before. He's he's reading back. play calls by memorization. Not because ours. Them and jared goff was needing respond. Your goals on a new team.

You've got the answer to that from thirty thirty podcasts. And the undefeated the life and legacy of south. La robert nipsy hustle. I'm just intensely seeing reporter for the undefeated in this episode series. I explored the shared experiences of life as a black man in america with nipsy brotherhood of nba players. Listen now on amazon music or wherever you get your podcast. We are back on. Get up. I want everyone to understand and what exactly is about to happen here. So dominique isn't on tuesdays with us and on tuesdays jeff. Saturday has his feature about great block aches and then marcus spheres as feature about sacks and i think i just show up to work warning all of a sudden i think dominique's ego has said we need something for the corners out there and so we present niks corner so you're welcome mike there make your show better because sacks and blocks are not nearly as much fun as washing corners and. Db's have good time. What do we got i. I think it's my graham mike edwards. I'm mixing up places. Mike edwards sitting zone covers right here. The first of two picks sixes which is outstanding considering that. I never had one. Well i had one except those blocked in the back. That man got back. Call back but this man right here. Sitting zone jumped on it takes it to the grid and deserve to celebrate even though the rest in life the way celebrated on the second one but yeah that is fantastic. I love anytime. tv's ends on the second one. We got jalen ramsey. Now this play when you see a new quarterback come in you know what you yell precipice on the line. Less healing ramsey saw them putting in a rookie quarterback. He saw the sack alignment anticipated against cover for that. They were going to go to the scissors route and everyone knew this game was over. Except for jacob and don't throw it five if you wanna stay alive last up. Dj graham this is from college. The guy at the oklahoma sooners. He goes from the right corner always. I'm sorry my i i. There's nothing to be said for that me talking over. That makes it worse unless let's look at it. Lord that is incredible. I know is fourth down to play right there. Maybe some people would say that you bet it down but i say make a play. It's one of the most spectacular obviously plays that we've ever seen little known thought on that. Did you know that his own coach challenged that.

"Let's see if our defense can actually hold onto this and yeah yeah looks like with three minutes. Left three minutes left in the third quarter they go down and they score on us. And i'm sitting there wondering what in the world are we going to do here and then we go run down on them and three minutes or so. I'm just like right. Before the end of the third quarter we go down and we score on them. And i'm like okay. We answer back. That's that's good. And then yup they block the point after and dude. I just my. I laughed. actually. That's what i did. I laughed. I was like and like the most hysterical laugh i was just like oh my gosh. This is the most nebraska thing to happen right. Now Yeah our offensive line. Just let them go right through. And then kellyanne kicked a pretty low kick. It was it was pretty low so it was like in the less our offensive line. Just did what they were supposed to do. And you just get lucky and it goes right in between hands there would have been hands high enough to to knock that ball down anyway so Yeah it's just it was just completely demoralizing But i was. I was like well. Let's see what happens because they get the ball right back. Oh you're going to get the ball right back. What's going to happen here. And i i. I was really trying to not invest myself in the idea of winning the game throughout the entire third quarter. I was just waiting for something to go wrong. And then yeah having right at the end of the third quarter having a conversion for a us just like yep there. There's so yeah i i don't really have other thoughts about the third quarter other than that really but I suppose i'll just moving to the end of the fourth quarter. We start off the fourth quarter with a us possession after the blocked extra point and they go on a twelve yard sixty or sorry they go on a twelve play. They go on a twelve play. Sixty five yard drive for a touchdown making twenty three to nine. And honestly at that point i was that was the moment. Prior to the end of the third quarter was like blocked extra point. Let's see if our defense shows up. They didn't they did they didn't i. I'm pretty sure in that drive alone. They converted to third and longs. I'm not one hundred percent share on that. But i remember we had them on third down twice maybe even three times and they converted all of them and went down and they scored on us and my thought was. Yep things are about to. This is when hits the fan But yeah it. It really didn't but it still did. Technically roy nex- next possession is what led to the incredible interception by dj graham like watching the matrix..

Also tell me david and harry why you expect. It might continue going forward. David review the florida gators. I know they've all. I know i know what i was. I was impressed with what. I saw the hill alabama ninety one yards rushing. Outgained them by over one hundred ten yards like this is. This was an impressive especially the way they start. It was twenty one to six before you could blink. And they fought back and gave alabama all they could handle. I don't think florida's going anywhere. I think they did a really good job this weekend. And i think they'll continue that throughout the season. David i'm going with fresno state here. Look they were obviously pick early in the season. To upset oregon. They didn't do it but they did. Hang with them and then obviously this weekend they beat. Ucla one of the hot teams from early. In the season. I love this team. Jake hainer was playing through some pain. Great quarterback at the very worst. They've shown that they can hang with every single team the pac twelve. I think that they should be the favorites in the mountain.
