"There's the dino ratio. There you go. There you go. So much better. Is that a two O 6? What do I call that thing? Yeah. So small, but two O 6 two O 6. Wow, I'm not too bad. All right, now that is a dino and maybe he named after dino, 'cause that's a target that he named himself dino. Well, we have to find out. 18 years old he bought that guy. 18 goddamn years of age. But also what year did he buy? It's 60. Oh, it's 76 was when it got sold back. And so what was $30,000 worth back in whatever 60 7 or 70 or? Well, let's just put it to you this way. Hard to tell. But 30,000 bucks in the later 60s, you could get yourself a decent ranch style house and canoga park or something out here. So it was minimum wage was a buck ten an hour, whatever it was. It was good. It was considered $211,000 according to. Okay, that's an expensive car for an 18 year old. Yeah, I was $11,000 is an expensive I agree. So we gotta figure out Chris, what one of those may have, I've not seen one of those cell in a long time that I'm aware of. But what one of those traded for in the last few years at any of the major auctions? Right, okay. Because I don't think one of those one Le Mans because that was the era where the four GT one. Yeah. And then it went into the 9 17 Porsche era after the Ford GT era pretty much. I don't think there's a Ferrari win. 69 or something. I think there was shoehorned in there. So you're not going to get Le Mans wins, but you're going to get but you are going to get a you could get Le Mans history, not this car. But the movie Ford V Ferrari had one of those prominently displayed. Well, look, if you're honestly getting famously getting beat by the GT 40s. Right. That's part of the story. What do you think one like that might go for? You know, that's I haven't seen it come up, so it's a crazy crazy thought on what something like that would go for. I mean, you know, Ferrari's always do very well compared to anything else. And Le Mans history even unsuccessful. And what was their 30 something of those cars? I have no idea. I think there was like 38 or 33 total of the peas. Yeah. How do you know? I think it was just up on this. Oh, that's been roughly in one of the descriptions. It said something like that. I don't know what it is, 10 million bucks. Yeah, I'd have ten to 15. Minus any significant Le Mans. Right. Because that's a game changer as we know. Yeah. I think it's a $10 million. It was funny. We were talking about there you go. Go ahead and read read it. What it says, max, finally. Surviving four 12 P cars are worth approximately ten to 15 million at auction. Well, there you go. We're both right, but I'm a little writer because you said ten and I went ten to 15 and it says ten to 15. On there. That seems about right. But so good purchase for dino at 30 K yeah, but he probably sold that a significantly. Well, if you buy it in 1970 for 30 K and then it sells in 1976. You've sold it for 28 K yes. I agree. The other thing I was looking at just as long as we're talking about Le Mans price and stuff like that, we were trying to figure out the other day we're kind of talking about the Porsche 9 56 versus the Porsche 9 6 two or stuff like that. And we're talking about some of those not really knowing what some of those Porsches were really worth and there's a couple of Porsche 9 56s which came after the 9 62 a little more aerodynamic. And some were brought at auction and didn't sell. I thought they were going to get, I don't know, millions. They got 2 million high bid or whatever. But I was looking it up just out of curiosity and one did sell like 5 years ago. Gooding a rothmans one for 10 million plus because it won Le Mans overall. Yeah. And so we've always said there's the price of the car to sort of the base price of a Le Mans factor. Well, it seems to me that at least 5 times versus one that ran at Le Mans versus overall winner Le Mans, you're going from 2 million to 10 million plus and that's sort of the story you're paying for. I think the Le Mans factor like when you're explaining is it's a little it's a little bit more when it is a very prestigious marquee Porsche Ferrari. I think the factors definitely a little less, maybe it's maybe it's not 5 times, but if it's, I don't know, Aston Martin or Nissan or something, maybe it's a little, it's a little less. But for Ferrari and Porsche for sure. But again, when you start with a big base, when you're starting with a $2 million base, getting the 10 million doesn't seem for some reason as crazy as I don't know a $100,000 car going for a million or million wine because of some, you know, that feels like it's a bigger jump, but yeah, that Le Mans factor is I think one of the most sustainable things. I read something else recently. I forgot who was talking. A notable investor, I forgot who it was. I don't know if it was like a Mark Cuban or something like that. But it was just somebody big in the investment realm going you know what's going on with the dollar what's going on with investments and what's going on with that world. And he was basically saying he's like art. He's like, cash is a mess and this and that and he's like, look at our look at the history of art. Right now it's the returns on these things are 14 to 17% and I know he was specifically talking about art, you hanging on the wall, but this is what we've been saying the whole time is something like a painting or an automobile with the right marquee or right artist or right story behind it. Is it the better place to invest money? I think it is. It's certainly more fun. Right? I agree. All right, let me tell you about our friends over at rock auto. All right, so let me bring up another subject here. Let's see. Jeep's got a grand Cherokee update, not interested. Although the grand Cherokee looks pretty good these days. And the new one looks pretty good. We're just getting into this era of small engines, hybrids and, you know, I gotta tell you, it is a halcyon days for anyone who's looking for an SUV. You know, SUVs, they had the Jeep Cherokee kind of first second gen, whatever. And then they had a Ford explorer and it was like, yeah, it was a truck that had a back seat. You know, just pretty bare bones. There's a lot of offerings out there. I mean, it seems like every day I see an explorer that's all done up or I see a Jeep Cherokee, or I see the Hyundai or the genesis or whatever, and I go, that's good-looking ride, man. Like, it actually is pretty good. The Jeep grand Cherokee, and there's a long wheel base, then they got their wagon ear the big one that's coming out..

Interesting piece. Anyway, some collector got hold of it, and worked it out. Yeah. Yeah. And then restored back to its original spec. Right. When do you think that? Oh, I sold that was probably 86. That was probably down the line. It probably didn't get back into its original spec until 2000 or something like that. Once the money started the valuations really started to make a difference. Yeah. Now who the hell knows what that car's worth? Well, okay, so now I would argue because our original statement do you restore it back or do you keep it the dino car? Without la ma history, I think it's more unique as the dino car. If you didn't port it back, if you left it the wacky spider, I think you have a P three without Le Mans history without significant racing history, but has a very, very unique, wacky Hollywood history. Well, it has decent race history. It doesn't have Le Mans. But it has racist history. It's not one of those backup cars that never got raced. It got raised. But you know, you showing up and bringing it to Daytona gives it race history. The point is, you just have to picture it going across the blocks, pebble beach, at gooding, looking kind of funky 70s style. I just don't think that's getting all the money. I'd be curious to know like to see the detail shots of it in street trim to see. How well was it done? I'm sure it was decent, probably had a nagahide tuck and roll on the inside. Here's the whole point. You can put that car back to how it was because when it was finished with its racing career, it looked like a P three. Then some Hollywood son got hold of it and put glass packs and everything else on it. I think you're totally justified to just put it back to what it was when it left the track. And I think with the Ferrari collectors, that's going to get all the money in the world. Okay. It seems easy to put it back except for the hole in the roof. Yeah, well, they're going to do everything. Let's see. However, pawn, let's see. Two wins two second places were recorded. In the mid 1968, was sold and purchased by 18 year old Dean Martin. And they just didn't have a fossilized um to two thousand nine study found the fossils to be at least partially articulated at the time of debris flow reworking. And they're saying this alternative idea that the group was killed and transported before being buried was unlikely because the soft tissue should have resulted in articulated. Skeletons yes another words. It looks like they probably live together. Because they don't look scattered enough. Yeah or they died together. At least at laurie site articulated bones were found most of those bones show damage including being crushed and the damage appears to be due to trampling. So it's possible that a gregarious herd or group died together. Maybe they died. Congregating are waterhole during a drought. And then we're scavenged and the bones were disarticulated. And then the remains transported and buried on a flood plain or they died from a mass drowning of a herd migrating while forging a river and that's based on distribution of the bones being similar to wildebeest drowning mortalities with carcasses concentrated on a flood plain. We learn it as babies older animals that are born knowing all the sounds already. That's a good question. I didn't read up on that. I just read that. We're considered vocal learners. Because we learn it. Yeah i guess that implies that there are some animals that just like come out all the ready to talk or ready to vocalise that might just have really limited vocalisations so they don't really need to learn much because it's just like whatever little noises they can make that's all there is to it. Maybe or maybe it's that we're one of you types of animals that can communicate with each other clearly more complex vocalisations. I guess yeah 'cause we're vogler but then there's only a few other animals that can acquire vocalisations. That list includes some birds like parrots hummingbirds some songbirds some whales seals and dolphins some elephants even some bats. If i think the most famous one is the lyre bird have you ever heard they can imitate like chain sauce. All sorts of like really complex. Noises sounds just like they're pretty amazing. "Years before. Sabrina and carrot ritchie had ever met. They spent separate childhoods being completely enamored by dinosaurs. Let me fell in love and move to the east coast. Their passion project traveled with exploring the new area. They took field trips to museums and historic sites. They especially loved the american museum of natural history time and time again. They found themselves drawn to the dinosaur halls now as adults their love for the ancient reptiles was anything but prehistoric. The couple started a website called heino dino which included a map of dinosaur exhibits around the world. Their goal was to visit as many of them as they cut. When they got married they even had a dinosaur themed wedding soon after the newlyweds realized they wish there was a podcast on dinosaur news. But it didn't exist so sabrina and garett decided to start it. Jurassic times call for jurassic measures. They had no experience with making a podcast but they were avid podcast listeners. They knew what they liked and disliked about other people shows. They made sure to use that knowledge when outlining. There's format wise. They decided on a few different segments. First the introduction would contain all the recent breaking dinosaur news then they would take a deep dive into their dinosaur of the day and finally they'd have an interview with a dinosaur expert. They also decided that. I know dino would teach your weekly episodes. Although this podcast was mainly for fun they also knew there was a chance they could make money from it from the beginning. They wanted to get an apple's new noteworthy section. This was originally itunes now apple podcasts. And they knew that apple favorite shows that released frequent episodes plus they learned that a new dinosaur is discovered roughly once a week so the schedule would fit well with the pace of discoveries side note. I had no idea new dinosaurs being discovered so often. I'm going to have to subscribe to the podcast. Learn more ticket started. They spent one hundred dollars on a microphone and paid five dollars a month. Host the podcast. They also continued paying five dollars a month to host their website. I know dino dot com six months after the initial idea the couple officially launched dino the podcast in january twenty fifteen ironically. This was just six months before the movie jurassic world would be released and wasn't really planned but it turned out to be a perfect marketing technique for their new business. They got about five hundred downloads. That first month and grew from there with their consistent posting schedule and star class interviewees. I know dino was opt to a great start a few months later. Sabrina and garett set up a patriot and got their first listener donation in the next episode. They gave that listener shutout. Just a practice. They've continued to this day from there. The couple of focused on remaining consistent and They tried buying paid ads but found that they didn't produce a positive return on investment. So instead they turn their efforts towards collaboration sabrina. Anger reached out to other podcasters for interviews swaps and cross promotions rather than advertising to the general public. They knew that the people listening would most likely already be interested and not only that but they wouldn't have to sell the idea podcast to them because believe it or not. There's still a lot of people out there who don't listen to podcasts. Or don't even really know how they work so. This collaboration has been the greatest marketing technique. They could have imagined since using it. Their listenership has increased dramatically and through that success. They were even able to start selling ad space. That first advertiser was a dinosaur museum. A perfect fit but since then they've attracted many others and six years in. Sabrina and garrett have grown i know dino to fifty thousand downloads. Every month they've interviewed all kinds of fellow. Dino enthusiasts from paleontologists paleo artists including some who worked on jurassic park and jurassic world's to writers and even dinosaur dancers over the course of more than three hundred fifty episodes. They make about five thousand dollars a month from ads in addition to selling merchandise donations in books. The overall income fluctuates but sabrina was recently able to quit her job. As a product manager to commit to i know dino full-time the couple is also added another side hustle to the mix. An online class called the complete podcasting. Course they want to teach others how to create grow launch and monetize a podcast. Just.

"I think we talk a lot about ghosting in the romantic context right But it also happens with friends. Obviously and the reason. I want to talk about friend. Ghosting today is. Because i think it's an example of a larger problem with how friendships tend to end like what happened with one of our listeners. I just remember. There was one particular instance where she called me. And i looked at the phone and i was like oh i can't do this. I just didn't answer. This is dana lucic and a couple years ago. Dana goes did a good friend of hers when she learned her friend with pregnant. Oh my inner feminist is really angry at me. Because i know that women are able to do everything and anything to be cleared. Dana was excited for her friend but she was also worried about their friendship. Changing i am now thirty years old and i do not want children and i struggle when my friend start to have children because i feel like they change and i feel like they you know of course obviously wanna spend a lot of time with their kids talk about their kids and i'm just not interested. Gina this is like oh. You're having a baby. Congratulations you just lost a friend. It's like the exact opposite reaction society. Expects you to give exactly exactly. I really respect her ruthlessness about it. Yeah and dino wasn't always like this

"This other places cited this as their primary defense mechanism. It's a terrible defense mechanism. I guess it's effective. I think it works horribly. Effective there was some sources to saying that like vultures don't have to worry as much about nest predation as other animals do because they smell like rotting heat. All their animals like not going near that. Did we see turkey. Volterra recently did. And i was walking kind of close to it and then i got maybe forty feet away and i didn't wanna upset or anything so i stopped and walked away and now i'm very glad i did. Yeah projectile vomited. Especially considering it was sitting up too high. It was like on a roof yet so it probably could have gotten some more distance. Net would have been awful stay away. I think they mostly do that. If they're on their nest and they really want you to go way generally probably just fly way because they don't want to give up their one was not near anything that looked like a net. No but yeah. It's not something you want to get near for sure. And apparently when they do this it smells incredibly awful as you'd expect because you know vomit and it's also rotten meat vomit but also highly acidic so it can irritate your skin and if it gets in your eyes it can also burn really bad remember. They have unusually acidic stomach acid to so it's like it's not just that it's gross. It's also like really bad for you. Yeah it could be dangerous so yeah. Stay away from turkey. Vultures really just volunteers or wildlife in general. That's the fun tip at the end of the fun back. You can still go birding. Look for far. Yes from afar. "The twenty first of october and they're estimating it's going to sell for one point four to one point eight million dollars. Us dollars here. That's that's a healthy some for a ceratops in as you can imagine. There are debates online about this about it being sold. Yeah just dinosaur skeleton going to auction. Yeah i mean. I don't think that's without. I don't think that's outside the realm of something. That museum could pay early some of the bigger museums. Yeah maybe so. If somebody really wanted. I think it could end up in a museum but the bigger question is is there enough data that was collected with it to make it something that a museum watts already being like fully prepared somewhere. And it's just like a big pretty triceratops than that's not as interesting for museums as if they did the preparing or they know all the details about where it came from and have good documentation and all that kind of stuff true. The having so much of the skull complete is interesting. That's cool. i didn't realize that seventy five percent of the skull was unusual me either because we always hear about or see big sarah topsy and skulls. Yeah but it's always hard to tell how much of it is original plaster the slap dot after that's true but sixty percent of the skeleton in general is definitely a lot. 'cause yeah you find a lot of ceratops skulls. But you don't find a ton of sarah topsy and ribs and vertebrae things like that So we'll see what happens in yokohama. Japan at the pacifico. Yokohama convention center. They've got a dinosaur display right now called dino science the dinosaurs of layer media and that includes another triceratops known as lane. Wayne tracy adopts. I liked the all these names. They also have on display a gorgeous oars with a brain tumor another young triceratops and a young t. rex and they've got. Cg images of dinosaurs sounds good. Yeah they exhibitions on from now until september twelfth. You do have to make reservations at least for weekends. I think it gets pretty crowded and lane. The triceratops is on loan from the houston museum of natural science. So if you're in houston anything that's really cool. You probably see lane at a later date. Yeah they might have put a replica on display or something true in new zealand. I'm gonna try to pronounce this but we couldn't find a pronunciation online the weary nakae where tonga museum trust. Yes it has exhibit called dinosaur revolution secrets of survival. And that was made by louis vera and gondwana studios you can see fossil castle nest of dinosaur eggs animatronic dinosaurs at big t. Rex towering over. An armored dinosaur couldn't tell which one exactly by the picture. Yeah that's all it can do can only tower over it. I'm sure i'm sure there was a time where it did damage to something in the back. Yeah i mean they coexisted with ankylosaurs and those are pretty tough. Yeah that's true. Media is a new show coming out garrett at the end of the month september thirtieth call the dinosaurs. Is this a flintstones related. Things here is about pebbles and bam bam i kinda liked pebbles and bam bam. Yeah they hang out with dino in the crags which is like samari outside a bedrock. They're little older than in the original original series of babies. Another older kids old enough to hang out in the crags as though like they run into a lot of dinosaurs. I really like the stock. Couldn't remember what it reminded me of bitter. Writing me of the animation style reminds me of some shows. I really like that. I wish i remembered for some reason. When you're describing this. I just assumed it was live action. Because i feel like everybody's turning all the cartoons into live action but it's still a cartoon. Yes it is so. I'm looking forward to it. There was another preview of jurassic world dominion too but i think they're spoilers here. Okay i'll take your word for it so he'll wanna know guess fast forward a little bit here. They showed about ninety seconds of a preview at cinema con. Two thousand twenty one and there were a lot of different scenes in that ninety seconds so colorado told people at the film. Drastic dominion is looking to answer the question. If dinosaurs lived amongst us would you be safe. that's what i was hoping it'd be like The answer is no. I would die immediately here. A lot of dreams about this as a kid. I've explored it from multiple angles and all answers lied to me getting eaten now. Good thing that's not happening so there were a few articles about this and one of them. I think it was the gizmodo article. They said you know. I've tried to remember everything but there so much flashing ninety seconds. Don't remember all the details exactly but yes. Some of the scenes were like a pair of brackish. Zora's being led by a bunch of vehicles in snow covered query. So there snow. I think we might have known about the snow earlier. We heard about where they were shooting. After we were just talking about how. Ted hanover's need warm environments and have high body temperatures rate. Wonder about this. Maybe these breakfasts aren't trying to lay eggs so it's okay. Oh good point. Yeah and then. You've got own grady. Riding a motorcycle after some dinosaurs. There's a couple of scenes of elliott. Sadler is one where she's in a lab and then one where she's in some cajun water's pouring in does a rampaging t rex screaming officer risk screaming to love that was described. Yeah also trae. Sarah taps smashing a jeep. I guess to lavas or has made quite a roar before it spit the venom in the first drastic park. And that's what they're gonna kill it on. I think there's going to be a lot of call backs probably There's obviously shots. Have alan grant ian malcolm clear during. She's being chased by possibly rafter. Then there's a clip of a moses or eating a helicopter. what's the thing moses. Sores really liked to eat. Chunks of metal never had the chance before so it's meant to be a conclusion to all the other previous five movies which is where. I think there might be call backs. Yeah that's how it goes. You make six in a row and then you go back and you do the prequels and then you do the inbetween like star. Wars in the yeah. I guess they only did three before. Doing prequels yeah hope. It's not the end the end they're still camp cretaceous. Maybe there'll be some other. Spinoffs looking forward to dominion so jurassic.

"Apple as everybody knows because we talked about it. I'd i'd ad nauseam Was going to use the database from neck. Mchugh were closely with back for twenty years. An organization found started and funded by the government but non-governmental their non-private but they do maintain they're the only place legally allowed to maintain a database of child sexual abuse material. They create a fingerprint hash. That almost everybody uses to detect it on their own servers. So they don't have to send the images around just the fingerprint and google microsoft facebook. Everybody uses this. to detected. apples proposal was a little different. Instead of scanning right there on i cloud as everybody else does. Apple wanted to scan the images on their way to i cloud in in other words. Put the scanner on your phone. And i don't know if that was what triggered people but there was something about this sancrosanct phone that made people say no apple in apples. I think listening mulas. Ads apple ran. That said what happens in your turn stays in your phone. Yeah apple have been. That could have been why people thought this about. Yeah i think you're right. They created expectations. And of course apple fought the good fight with the fbi around the time when the fbi wanted to break their encryption around the founded the dino shooter the thing that i think apple had a bad messaging over the semi part of the problem is the kind of stuff that apple would have reported to neck. the national center for the team's poor children. "Maybe it did. Maybe you know what. I don't want to defend the tortoise. Lots of humans. Eat birds to right. You're right. some people probably consider that murder tortoises have the nonni bones an snail shells for calcium and scavenge. When there's an opportunity because who doesn't unc. Turtles are basically carnivorous. Some species of them. They like nothing. But we're talking about land turtles tortoises. Yeah there hadn't been any record of tortoises actively preying on animals in the wild before this though. Apparently they have squashed birds under their carapace and there are anecdotes of turtles. Squashing crabs. Why because they're hungry. The same reason that sewer pods stepped on them in eight now because they're easy meals. I don't think that's what happened. It's just like the allosaurus. It takes a lot of energy to go out and find food. So there's food right next to you. You squish it and you eat it whether you're a tortoise with a little baby dinosaur or you're a big dinosaur with a little baby torness anyway. I think this proves that sora pods were right to be wary of tortoises and They did everything right. The moral sabrina story is a sore pods. Did everything right so abouts for the win. T. Rex Was a 'Foodie,' Scientists Find
"There was a paper that came out recently called complex neuro vascular system in the dentistry of tyrannosaurus and it was published in historical biology by so chiro koby and sochi tori. And it's around how t. Rex may have had a sensitive tip of its snout like that displayed. A source horny yet but the headlines were more about it being a foodie or a picky eater. Where's the display a source. One was like it was a tender lover. It it's a really interesting. The two different headline types. There's a lot of reasons. It would be useful to have a sensitive snout so to kind of summit up. I liked the way the new york times article. Put it quote. T. rex to eat blindly and basically t rex had these complex nerves and the tip of the jaw may have been sensitive and that would have helped. Tell the difference between soft tissue and other parts of the meat. It was eating so then. If it was available it could choose to eat the soft parts interesting. Which is why people were talking about being foodie. So what the others did was they. Cat scan a left mandible or job. t rex. It was an immature specimen. That was found in the hell creek formation. And they also. Cd scanned some other orna. Fisken's like triceratops montessori fuqua stores and they looked at extent crocodilians and birds and what they were doing was they were looking at the neuro vascular canal. That's this combination of where small blood vessels and nerves collagen fibers and sells stored fat. Were and in t. Rex the neuro vascular canal in the dentistry has this complex branching pattern actually similar to extend crocodiles and what they said were. Sorority activated the dynamite and the enormous media suddenly became very sleepy within moments. It was fast asleep. Sprawled across someone's shiny new truck work. Everyone said sircar. Las raising his fist in triumph. Especially you sit. Said serarch was very brave. Thank you said said. Was that how the dinosaurs had arrived. If it was the circles didn't hang around for long as nobody had reported seeing one. I need to be quick. Said sid and urged his triceratops through just as the black circle blinked out of existence sit had arrived and only large room of strange machinery. It wasn't like any technology he'd ever seen before up above he could see movement as figures moved around the walkway. It was then he realized he was actually in some kind of pit presumably to keep the dinosaurs that being sent through the circle away from the people above suddenly one of those people was leaning over the walkway and pointing at him. There is a manny down there. It screeched moore faces peered over the edge and it dawned on sid that he wasn't looking at humans but dino people up above they went into panic unsure of what to do this intruder the machines around sid drummed into life and a fresh black circle appeared behind him with nowhere to go and not wanting to be captured sit turned his triceratops around and charged back through. Sid shouted lady alice. Why did you go. We would terrify you've been eaten. The three dino knights were now stood guard next to enormous sleeping carnivores. I think i just found out where the dinosaurs coming from. Explain sid and he told them about the strange machines. And the dino people that controlled them. The dino knights listened fascinated. Why are they doing it or car. Las they clearly don't like humans if they're going to all that trouble said serarch. I think we can expect more terror from these dino people which means we're going to need more help suggested lady. Alice definitely said sircar loss. But we call it. "I'd get blasted for excommunicated at the end of this. No i think everyone knows. I love the community. But it's like you know we have problems. Every martin was community has problems and i think. Let's try to fix those. And i think i it's. It's it's impossible to fix some of them. Just because of the the history of a lot of asian cultures. But you know i just think we. I think we could just do better and again. This goes back to writing about asian movies or asian stories like a. We expect so much from people who are closest to us and when they don't deliver it makes us pissed off and we like still furious. We're like i'll do better. So that's what i kind of i i might again. I'm in this weird transition phase of my life and especially with diaspora whatever's going on. It's like i just urge people to do better and to urge our asian brothers and sisters in siblings to just look out for each other because no one out. There is gonna fuck and help us until we help ourselves. First and hundred percent and in a you know there are solutions. And you know if you don't like what one organization is doing. Start one that you want someone to do and then build synergy off of that. It's like don't ask anymore. And i think a lot and i'm still having that problem. I mean it's hard to it's hard to be so deep in it and and to feel the bigness of something that is big but also release small like the the paradox of like you guys like a really work frying about and this is the hill that we wanna die on. And i've been in that universe for twelve years like hardcore making it my entire life in those parts of it that i'm super grateful and i learned so many things and i got so many great relationships like that are very genuine. That really gave me inspiration and education. That i wouldn't have gotten anywhere else and then also there's parts of me that i'm like why did i give so excessively to something that i was just upon in somebody else's game or feeling that feeling of lake even though i understand like you said it's a transactional situation and we are here specifically to build an industry in get in. Get us headway. When it's not received with a thank you or with any sort of you don't have to like throw me a parade but it's like a it's acknowledged or appreciate it or not you know also it that can leave a very lasting. It can limit a person's ability to have faith in something or want to be generous or want to have their fuel tank refueled cause for you and your org or your people or whatever. There's a so neighbors ends where in this particular industry there's a lot of people out to get. There's and i've been in that space you so i'm not even like judging that hard but we like very small insular community and i hear like the more. I'm not in the community because i stepped down from collab- like i hear more freely from other people because i'm self regular civilian now The shade that they throw in. I'm like. I wonder what it was when i was running an organization and things to you know and i think there is. There's i think there's two kinds of shade right there there. Like there's plenty of instance especially like i think there's constructive criticism you know if you don't like something you or if i don't like something i am going to go to the source and be. Oh hey man. let's talk. You did this. I don't agree with it. How could we make it better. We see i two. I don't think we may not end up seeing ida eye on things. But at least i think i'm not really a person to to talk behind people's back i will in the beginning when i that you to your face because this is just me like trying to figure out how i approach this. I'm all about doing something constructive and not just throwing shade for the sake of throwing shade. Then there are those people who just are an e or or a. They're just there to just kinda bring a toxicity to the community and most of the time when people are really really harsh on an organization or person or this that another. They have nothing going on in their lives. They're unemployed and i keep that in mind when i'm talking shit you know. Everyone talks but it's like all the shit make sure you something constructive. The back it up you know or or just like you could provide something rather than just insult someone exactly tearing down. Don't tell you know it's like. I'm not here to bring down the community and when i said before i'm not here to be your megaphone. I am. I know. I am a megaphone to a certain extent but i am not here to be your disposable megaphone like yeah we we did what we want with. You know. it's like yeah. We could still remain. You have some sort of professional relationship. What professional or community oriented relationship and continue to work together. Don't just say again like i said before. I felt that for the longest time people were just like throw it too dino. He'll do it. He's asian period. That's kind of one. I just felt like. I was being used like i think me and you have this. You know you've worked on collaboration for so long and people are going to use you in a certain way good or bad but at the same time it's just like all i think it's all about respect and all about like all. Yes you know. I know you're using me but you know at least just respect me as you use me. We're using each other like the talented. This what. I was trying to remind talent from being a the actor myself because something. I started in the middle of collaboration. But before that i was the pre i've been the producer in person like booking talent. Unlike we need each other. You know what i'm saying like you. We need the talent to be on the stage but you also need the people to organize and put the show together to have for you to be on. Like i'm like there is a mutual. What's biology ward right now. But it's like there's a synergy there that is that is necessary if you could have that be genuine and not be so like shitty for of words we can all not feel so like torturous going through this process. 'cause really do need and it's not like you're so no one's above anybody else i've had i've had artists dino at some of the shows i've put on talk shit about the show next to me right before they get on stage and i'm just like you which is like i'm not i ever. CNN comes on with the your most trusted name in news. And facts matter. And they just suck. I see an I mean, honestly, I wish I wanna puke and all the people on it like Nurse Ratched. She's on the morning show with now what's her name? What's her name? What's the lady's name on them? I never watch it. I only see it if I'm walking through an airport. Seriously, it's the only time my eyes touch CNN broadcast. Now how did they get that deal where you have to watch CNN when you're in an airport? That makes the world think of us? That was a brilliant move, though that they did marketing was, but too bad they just turned away. I will say this. Even the most liberal media outlets are beating the sour just a little bit on our commander in chief. Yeah, based on what's happening in Afghanistan. It's almost indefensible. And think about this. I mean, it's one thing to be how do I want to say this? Cognitively impaired. As the president. My bad's been wiped. But when your national security advisers and your military advisers, when asked what we should do in Afghanistan, tell you, we need to get our people and our allies out before you announce that we are pulling our troops out and we're done with this war. And Joe because he's so much smarter than these guys. I got a good idea. I need a bump in the polls. I need people to say, oh, he's bringing the boys home. He's bringing the troops home. He's bringing the men and women in uniform home. And so he brought them home and he put the card before the horse. Absolutely. So all he had to do was whisper and everybody's here in Afghanistan. You know, get the fuck out of here. There's a couple weeks get out of here. You get out. Yeah, don't tell anyone, but don't tell me about it. Everybody's out. Then you announce we're done and we're pulling our troops out. Now, we've announced it, the Taliban is in a rushed in. And here's the worst part. Bad enough to be demented enough to reverse the cart and the horse. Now, he is actually negotiating with Taliban. He sent an envoy over there to say this. Would you mind if we took a little bit longer to get our people out of Afghanistan? Maybe I know I know we said September 1st. But if we could just have to like the 5th of the 60s. And by the way, you keep our guns and all the guns that got our tanks that got all of our stuff. So we're asking for permission if we got a little more time to get them out of there. Because you still need to make sure that whatever name you choose is already being used with dinosaurs. Well you don't technically since i c. n. is a separate organization plants and fungi and stuff can have the same name as a dinosaur for example. But you're right with butyl since they're all animals they can't have the same name but yeah when there are so many more plants. There's going to be a lot of overlap. And then all three thousand of those species to have to have a unique species name which would be tricky to do you get creative. Yeah and one last little weird bonus fun fact is that the naming organizations can be pretty rigid about their names so there is that rule that the name should be inoffensive and there was a beetle that was named. After hitler in nineteen thirty-three a hitler. I and then after world war two. There was a proposal to change the name. Because who wants a thing named after hitler nobody but it was rejected by the ics because they said the original name didn't break any of the rules. And i guess the not causing offense is technically a recommendation. Maybe that was a recommendation came later. I'm not sure or maybe it only meant swear words. Oh that could be that. That's what they meant by. Not causing offense. Yeah by those kind of a weird anecdote about binomial nomenclature wayland and you've covered lots of weird stuff to like ultrasauruses versus ultra soros. Known is confusing things that happen. I think the names are just going to get weirder the more things we find that need new names. Yeah but it was surprising to me that technically you're allowed to name a holiday type for an animal that doesn't have material available whether or not it was described at all before it disappeared. She switched her primary focus to secular music. She moved to new york city parting from her son to state with her family in detroit that year in nineteen sixty aretha signed a contract with columbia records. But if you couldn't get that to work i think sarah topsy ends are probably the best bet. As long as they're back aren't too rounded because on elephants for example the riders tend to sit just behind the head to sort of avoid the sloping ness of the back. But you can't do that on a ceratops. Because he gets squished by the frill. If it looks up basically and you can't ride on the frill. No no you gotta stay in between the legs for sure. Don't you can't ride on animals heads chatrel. So yeah what would you a pod. Oh yeah no question which store pot though maybe brakha source who is adding a whole other level. I could see. Actually that might be better for the rains. Because maybe if you turned its head it would make more of a difference in trying to turn the really long head our you. Yeah like a giraffe. You'd have to train them like an elephant. Were they like take a knee. So that people can climb up onto them Maybe build some kind of ladder. Maybe you can only ride juvenile sore pods. Oh that could be here. You got a short window though because they grow fast. Yeah yeah. I do have a backup plan to in case this problem ever rises okay and that's building a dinosaur chariot or buggy to be towed behind the animal because before people learned how to ride horses. That's what they did. They use the chariot instead. Because we could. It was easier to sort of guide them in a general direction and they would tolerate being towing something rather than having it on their actual back so that could work to maybe or use it as a pack animal first step though to have a non avian dinosaur so can out of luck. "Say what's up to fire nation and what is something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with. Hey john yeah well first off. Thanks so much for having me on today. I'm super excited to dive into today's episode And yes something that. Most people overlook when it comes to becoming successful I would say mindset. And and the reason i to say this is because we hear so much right. You're you know it's who you surround yourself with a two year mentors are. It's kind of sometimes lack of the cards. Your strategy here. A lot about that and all. That stuff is absolutely Accurate but nonetheless i think your mindset is so crucial and here's why right is that your mindset naturally when you decide. I'm going to become an entrepreneur when you take that leap. I'm leaving my nine to five job. You are instantly in the one percent. And i'm talking not one percent of the wealthy. You know maybe perhaps on your way but you're instantly in one percent in the sense that you are going against the grain of society right. Society is teaching us. Go go to get good grades. Go to good college. Get a good job. Save for retirement all of those types of things and as soon as you decide. No i'm gonna go and beat that one percent of decisive to create something to be an entrepreneur to build a business to impact people as soon as you decide to do that. You're going against ev. All the programming in the world. You're going against what what is taught to us as a culture and and so it's going to be
