"They're starting in may fourteen fifteen and then taking their first pro fight at eight hundred. Nineteen some fighters like some of the fighters in one chabert. Making pro debuts sixteen on things like that so there's no right or wrong way to make an injury and mma but wanted to big stories. This past week was two thousand. Twenty olympic gold. Medal is gable. Steve's and had flirted with wasn't gonna do anime was he gonna go back to wrestling or was he going to go to w. w. become a personal wrestler now ultimately he ended up signing one of these new name image likeness deals with. Wwe he's going to become a professional wrestler but he is going back to college to wrestle for another year which i totally respect and i think that's pretty awesome but i put her tweet out last week. I got mixed responses. Because i said you know the story goes like this that he talked to the ufc. Talk as people and the idea was that they said you know go get some regional wins and then come through the contender series and that is a very legit path to getting into ufc. These days much like the ultimate fighter has been and still. Is you know from years to come. But i argued. I wanna get your opinion on this and this is obviously part of the debate. Here is that that was like listen. Gable steve's and to me is a once in a lifetime athlete he's a. He's a heavyweight wrestler which you know heavyweight wrestlers come a long way what it used to be heavily used to be to big giant bear looking dude just kinda crashing into each other now laid. You're getting some seriously athletic. Guys a heavyweight. He's twenty one years old. All the potential in the world already making buzz in terms like talking to media and getting the buzz out there like to me. Signing gable steve's into uc contract and even if it's an i l. dilfer right now like a name rights deal and then you bring him in like a year from now or maybe two years from now to me. That's an investment for the future. Does that mean gable. Stevenson's going to be a champion. No there's no guarantee there's no guarantees with anybody. I mean you know mercer shogun who is alleged losses. I i knew you'll see. There's no guaranteed a guy. Mccrone cobb one of my favorite heavyweight fighters ever. I would've told you bet my house that he was going to be a champion never really came. Close I don't like to me. Investing in a guy like gable. Stevenson is an investment in the future. You invest in the in the prospect that he could become a superstar. Am i wrong. I don't know how do you feel about like should do you love siani organization for that matter making investment in kind of an unknown in kind of an untested product. But the potentials there. Well yeah. I mean who's to say they didn't do that. I mean so go get. They told him go. Get some regional ends. I'm sure they were willing to put him on a development deal and then bring them into the contender series to showcase him before signing into the ufc. Which i think is like a great way to bring somebody up so other. You know there's been other people that have been been put on Development deals that. I know of that were able to compete on the regional scene. And kinda get that experience and it was really really good for them. you know. There's there's some superstars in the ufc. Like henry sudo fought on the regional. Seen mackenzie turn thought on the regional. Seen a dimitrius johnson fought in alaska on the regional seen in alaska before he was signed to the ufc. These guys you know. There's some of the best fighters in the world in the. I think it's important to bring a fighter upright like we were just talking about how great till i am that i had so many up and downs and had so many fights before getting to this level because it can be a lot of pressure it is very real this is not the wwe were wits kinda scripted. And and you know what's going to happen and and This is this. Is the real shit honor. This is this the fucking ufc. This isn't game and so too. I think to bring somebody up like that. Especially somebody gable. Stevenson that's going to have so many is on him could be such a force. It's important to give them that experience before they come into the ufc. You can't just take a guy like that. Give them a you know a couple easy fights thrown in there with like steep amyotrophic or something like that. I mean you're just asking for disaster and then all this money in time that you've invested into this prospect is gonna be wasted because you know they get smashed on super fast. That's a huge chance for the ufc c. To take so. I think it was actually probably pretty smart for them to be like. Yeah go get some regional experience. That see how you see how you do in a fight. It you know. Emma may as D- unexpected happens all the time when people get hurt bad sometimes in so you know a guy like able stevenson. Probably can't take care of himself in handle themselves both in the media and in the cage but experienced there's man experience towns for a lot a lot a lot and so for the u. of c. To want him to have that before they before he came in i think was probably the right move. Now let me let me offer a counter arguments. About 'cause i'm like to me i think able uses the kind of guy you just live the checkbook out and say maybe he'll become a champion maybe now but the the perspective the the you know the talent is so deep with him. You gotta take that chance now as the different animal than a lot of their sports because you know a kid playing basketball in high school you see playing basketball and you know a college recruits them and then there's like a. There's a system to get up to pro basketball. I guess what. I'm getting baseball. Same way. football the same way. We don't really have that with anime. If you're fighting you know what. I mean like you're fighting is a professional. It's a little different animal than and you can do. Amateur of still different animal with m. a. and other sports Here's the counter. Argument will make though because brock leser is my counterargument. And the reason i say this is brock. Lesson was an nc double a. Champion from the university of minnesota just like gable stevenson after college. He got recruited by everybody went to wwe became a superstar became a massive global superstar. And then when he loved them be he wanted to do fighting he did take one fight in k.

"Fights means that we're speaking about the all time great fighters or the all time greats within that era oscar de la. Hoya fighting is there same thing. With connor mcgregor color mcgregor ran through rip roaring. Beat everybody knocked out the great josie aldo at the time had been knocked out hadn't been beat in almost a decade ruled the featherweight division in. Wabc and you have seen for awhile though. L. metaphor know look like three or four years. That maybe maybe the mcgregor was going to be on his way to becoming one of those guys to becoming a john jones to becoming a chris. Cyborg to becoming anderson self to becoming a dimitrius johnson to become one of those guys but when everything is all said and done i can't base three years of greatness from mcgregor in compare that to or put him on the same level as those who dominated were great for a longer period of time but beadle on the money fantastic also wonderful. That doesn't mean that when it comes to the art of fighting for a promotion that you should be considered one of the greatest even though you were a great talker even though you were a great promoter hell that was the case kill chill. Sonnen should be considered a lot better than what he actually is. We're bringing in. You know how someone performs on the mike and help. Someone can sell a fight. Don't give a fuck about someone selling the fight. You know what sells me on the fight. Can the guy fight or not that sells me on the fucking fight. So that's how. I come up with my thoughts and opinions about fucking conor mcgregor all that trash talking and all that bullshit and everything man when he's not gonna josie aldo when holloway and poor for the first time. And all these great fighters and still talk shit. All right. i'm i can I can understand that but when you no longer there fighter and you're still talking that shit you can go fuck yourself.

"But do you think this is the stopping point for this line? I mean, where do you sort of expect this thing to go as we get closer to the fight again? Yeah. I mean, when you it's hard to tell what this because a guy like Woodley does not generate a ton of public support at the betting window because frankly, people want to see him lose. He's not an exciting fighter. He's you know, the version of a appoint fighter if you will. So it's a it's a little bit weird. Because I don't think I think the value is certainly gone from a guy like when you look at this across the board. You know, when you look at past victory foods men, you know, maybe his striking is definitely gotten better. But it's not on the caliber of Woodley and people forget, you know, what the Israeli evolved his game into this type of fighter when he was more one dimensional. He's really been all come full circle a little bit here. So you think all right? Who's been is been so dominant in the takedown department when you look over at the other side of the board. And Woodley is ninety four percent takedown defense. So I get people taking the shot in the you know, upwards of plus one fifty range. I think the the line is probably the value, quote unquote is gone at this point. But I don't know if that's going to stop the public from, you know, looking to bet against a quote, unquote, boring fighter in Woodley, and you know, the night, quote, unquote, Nigerian nightmare at plus at plus money makes makes sense. So I wouldn't recommend it. Now that the values gone, but I could certainly see it getting down into the, you know, minus one thirty even money type of range at most. But this is probably where it stays another really intriguing fight here between Robbie Lawler and Ben aspirin. This is the UFC debut for Ben aspirin, and he's out here against a well known commodity in Robbie Lawler as a minus two seventy five favorite over at the sports book. This is another flight that you, and I were talking about a little bit before we started recording here that there are a lot of layers to this one too certainly are infringing on that doesn't know Ben aspirin the UFC effectively made the first mixed martial. Arch trade in history to get him on the roster. Trading Dimitrius Johnson out to his organization receiving you know, his contract receiving Benasque back. Then aspirin is got. He has been unbelievable. He is. He may for anyone. That's a fan of could even American-made off this guy by NASCAR may have better chain wrestling, then could be in. It's really something. That's sounds crazy to say, but I've never seen chain wrestling on this level now on the feet. He has nothing. Let's just say that, you know, when people always talk about myself included, the quote, unquote, strike overs, grappler, and all those cliches, this is the fight where all those, you know, start from all those terms. This is deep your striker verse grappler matchup. I have probably ever seen inside the UFC Robbie Lawler so famous for coming back from the dead and these blitzes and these seemingly impossible knockout, victories, submissions, everything and everything along the way Lawler has the advantage in this fight as long. As it stays on the feet. The thing about this is lawler's coming off at tourney CO. We don't know the status of that injury. We don't know kind of where he's at their. And he has been he has been able to he's fought wrestlers in the passan and done very well in the takedown defense department and all that type of stuff. So it's very I hate to sound cliche and say that this is a classic strike averse. Grappler matchup. But this is the classic striker. Verse grappler, aspirin is going to go for take downs morning, noon and night from the second the bell rings until the second the bells goes down. And if he's able to land just one again if Lawler stops ninety five percent of them, and he is able to get one while there's not going to be able to get back up. That is how good Ben aspirin is. If you have seen, you know, early Khabib fights against, you know, bottom of the barrel type of opponents where he was able to just smother them and even Daniel call me to to an extent in some situations..

"She was going through the division with with Robert still needs to find that it factor. And maybe that is the foil of Israel Sonya out of a very heavy favourite against Anderson Silva that matchmaking built for outta Sonya to win that fight end to impress. So maybe that's it. But I know you're saying keep him in Australia's long as you can at some point for his star to really match what he brings to the table as a twenty nine year old twenty eight year old somewhere in that neighborhood stud champion you need to make him. There needs to be something appetizing about him to the public at large outside of the sphere. You the three of us can watch it. And a lot of people listening can watch an appreciate his chin against y'all Romero in P predate, his striking ability, but for his star really rise. And for those paper view numbers to get to the point where he is must see television. I think ultimately he's going to have to come stateside and make himself more accessible to the. Public at large. Well that factor though, does exist this not in him. But in his presumes next opponent. If he gets by gasoline on Saturday night, Sunday Sunday in Australia, very confusing. If he gets by that fight either guy he were were to fighting that I mean, really we're talking about Assan you as as he is like it factor with capital IT. But, but you know, magic of Anderson Silva on Saturday night goes out and just just just shuts down the sign your hype train and just takes care of them. Like he took care of so many guys over the years. Anderson civil is back. Yeah. And then he goes in there and has to fight against Robert Whitaker the next time around and what if then Whitaker goes out and just demolishes him. Well, that that is a lot of star power at your disposal right there. So again, I think that he's a guy not everybody is going to have is going to become a star by what they do in a microphone steep. A great example where he just he kept. You know winning fights. You know, some of these other guys will Dimitrius Johnson as you said Phil that's probably the best example we've had history historically, Robert Whittaker's, just not one of those guys. And maybe he's not going to be the one who's going to go and talk talk as way to the top phenomenal point. Because I really do believe that the Anderson component in all of this is somewhat being overlooked. It's rare that guy has a title fight coming up in a couple of days. And the next fight is infinitely bigger, regardless of what happens right between Israel and Addison tier point regardless of what happens. The next flight is bigger. So he has to get by this one little challenge. And then it seems like he can really cash in. So let me ask you guys. You have see would never admit to this. But we all know that they have hopes and dreams if you're the UFC. Let's see on the same page for the first part of this question. You want Robert to win this fight? Right. Kelvin. You can't go anywhere now sell out with Kevin Gassama's champion with all due respect to him right now. He's just not that guy creek. You wrote Australia you New Zealand with rubber. So we agree on that. Dana white has said that he does not root for fighters. He just he reacts. I'm deep down gut. We want Whittaker to win it for the UCLA. Joe? Yeah. Of course. I mean, certainly the marketing people there see a lot more potential with him than they do with Kelvin gasoline. Okay. So Whitaker's the champ after Saturday's slash Sunday who we want to win the comb event. If you're the seed you want the New Zealand versus Australia matchup, or do you want the return of the king engine Silva going off? I think that they're gonna want. I will part of it is is it's not just winning. Let's say I decide you goes out and wins a close tight, you know, have split decision. Neither guy really takes advantage. I don't know that that really is is a clear cut, you know advantage. For whitaker. But I think that you have see would would want the rising star. They always gonna want that rising star. You know, there's Silva course legend, but his legend also got a little bit tainted from from from the PD stuff. So there's always going to be questions about that..

So, you know, Betty. Last time. I spoke to Darren you talked about weighing your options. Am I going to try one eighty five and we're gonna stay at one seventy Indian? Why did you choose one seventy just because I think I've still got some unfinished business left at seventeen is a lot of fights. I want you know, I did make the court not found..

Just finished say Vati Darren when I said to people that you were going to be on the show today the number. What what do you think the number one question was? Don't know. They were asking me what were you on about this past week and on Twitter? It seemed like you were going in a million different directions. Talking about a lot of different people. Where was that coming from? You know, what I'm like, I don't treat a lot. But when. To go full. What was going on? Why were you so riled up? This you know, it's just good people people love this mytalk. They do this talk. It seemed like everybody. Why are you driving right now? Now, I'm I'm binding got my Mandra. Okay. Good. I was worried there for your safety. I don't want you to drive and talk me at the same time. You know? I don't know if you know this. But we have a fight the headline on March sixteen tickets go on sale this Friday. You know, what time it is? They'll sell out, and it's yes, you're expecting. Yeah. Hopefully, that's what your shows if people. If it sells out quick people definitely interested in the whole cards, take the main event Komai, I think, you know, the whole main Cada prelims, I think it's one of the best events London's I've hot.

"It's like Tyson. He just run that guy's bell be fighting anymore. Whatever in MMA the guy scrambling and trying to grab the guy shin. He's in the fight going on. I don't know why why they ended. I don't know. Why either I was so upset TJ is still the chant and. And you know, that they're struggling with that way class anyways. Adam they don't want that class. Anyways little. Yeah. It's a little too small for the fellas. Yeah. Starting to starting to think. So it's a crazy. The reason the sport is exciting mixed martial arts is because mighty mouse was the guy who dominated that division unbeatable and thought to be unbeatable and pretty much everyone's pound for pound guy. Even though he was Dimitrius Johnson minute sky. Then he gets beat by this Huda guy way out of the blue like no one was this guy was on beatable, but it gets beat by Huda. And then now so Huda beats dillashaw kind of weird tough fight. But you never know you never know. I grew up a whole life. I'd be watching Muhammad Ali, and they put some guy in front of them with love handles and red hair. And it's like all right. Well, I guess we know how this is. You know, we know what is going to Randall Tex Cobb for fifteen rounds. Irene know, how this is going to end later on. Larry Holmes later on Mike Tyson kind of know in mixed martial arts. You never know. You never know what I miss about the old days, like those way classes, they stayed in the way classes, but I mean. Cooling about Ali is he was he was a light heavyweight when he went in and was still crushing guys. But he gained way to go in. I feel like when you lose weight. That's such a big disadvantage. I don't think it's fair. I don't think I'll e was a light heavy. He came out as a light heavyweight when he was on grow. Nobody went in as he wasn't happy. Light-heavyweight? I think he went in as a heavy, but he was still light heavyweight a lighter. But it's weird back then because the, you know, the guys like the guy guys like rocky Marciano one hundred eighty pounds fifty now. All right. We have some I know you love the fight stuff. So Adrian Brodie got his butt kicked by. Brunner was I interviewed him. It wasn't easy guy to interview because he's one of these guys. I don't know who the guys you do the interviews. Don't wanna do interviews. But they're doing the interview they know somebody like, I guess like. Like, somebody told you to do the interview like somebody wrangled, you like hustle, you up and do the interview when you want? I don't want to do the interview couple of things you're we're on the same business, which is like, hey, go talk to this radio guy. I wanna sleep in that you want to sell your comedy special your book, your fight or your favorite or you wanna move some tickets, right?.

"You know, there's so many nuances to getting older now, it's not just the things slow down or got mileage on the odometer, and you had a lot of fights. It's also your body just decides we're not gonna make wait anymore. You know? So you got you have to get to a much tougher time. Let's do one more five. What about the main event? Henry Suharto versus T J dillashaw to champions, the Dilshad, savannah way champ. He's dropping. Yeah. I've heard of I mean, obviously, I've seen dillashaw a lot. I've heard I've I haven't seen pseudo fight. I've I've heard good things about him as well. I rate dillashaw Ray dillashaw but looking at the. And he's he's he's the favourite. I mean, who would you guy? He's the guy that just uncrowned. And he's Olympic Olympic gold medal. Whoa. Close very close by s-. Even if it's a close fight. Wow. Also, why don't they don't rematch with with with the matrix? Decided to sign with an organization called one championship at all. Right. You've seen how they're doing. That's what happens when you got a white running you. All the companies are going to stop paying, and they're gonna leave. Wow. Wow. So wow, Johnson's gone. Wow. I heard a lot of things going. You know, you guys call me, I'm taking it in. I'm picking beat them not to be fair to meet meet him one. So it was one one which he would have been great. It would have been nice. But now one is going to try to grab pseudo the trilogy. Maybe we'll see. Here's another thing. That's the flight way division. We're talking about a hundred twenty five dollars coming down those laws coming down. But there's rumors at the UFC may rid themselves on one seventy five. And if they do then you're right that either so who has to move up and become lying with them. Or maybe they're not there. Say they've never liked it. Have you noticed? Never supported. Remember? The UFC didn't go below like one forty five. Right. Exactly. And guess the fifty five or BJ Penn. Remember, he had the find a new home? They did away with that division for a long time. And then all of a sudden, they, you know, oh, wait a minute. We met we done messed up and then forty fives and thirty five remember women to women's well onto rouser comes along. And all of a sudden a million dollars was like, hey, welcome. Welcome women's of amaze. So yeah, they've got it wrong quite a few times as well. You know, what is he still loose sporting comparison? So I think they're still like trying to find their bearings. As to what's going to sell them. What's not? So a lot of things in the changing. I mean, I just hate that fighters lose opportunities when you eliminate weight classes and things like that. Because I'm always for the fight early. Yeah. I want to be able to make a living and whatnot. And if you eliminate classes, you know, those guys are going to have to be the fine that home or fight weight classes that are much tougher for them to compete at you know, so I grew up in the eighties. And I caught the tail end I caught the tail end of. Ten norton. Joe Frazier, Tom and all the right? And so Home Depot, I'm thirty eight thirty. Okay. I'm forty nine but in the eighties, golden arrow, man. So you were a teenager. Exactly, I got two hundred eighty seven flourish. And I kept saying you've see don't don't get rid of fifty five and start looking at what WEC's doing because I'm telling you that class can those cons can also be more key. You know what I mean? And sure enough, you know, there's some Conor McGregor their biggest star ever start off as a forty five or he's now fifty five or and I don't know whether or not giving those those divisions A chance because people wanna see them. Okay. Maybe they don't sell a million papers. But not a lot of divisions. Do it takes awhile? It's it's the right combination. Six the right character. You know, the right fighter to do. It wasn't Dimitrius Johnson Johnson was beating the shit out of everybody. Nobody can beat them. But he was just kind of like Joe lunch bellied, go home to his wife and kids, and that was it didn't really wasn't didn't she life or anything? But so that was nothing to do..

"All right, so Friday now, talk fights and Trudell next segment Sadako show UCLA so data show here on ESPN LA pretty prints junior hanging out with us all show and mama. Momo's going to be in the house. A little later Trudell is going to join us in about six or seven minutes. But it is a fight weekend. Boxing. We've got UFC. Let's start UFC T J dillashaw gins, Andrew pseudo. That's right. That's the the big draw. First of all, it's all on ESPN. Now, by the way, if you just been hiding under a rock somewhere. It's coming your way. So three o'clock they start with the first fights on ESPN. Plus, you guys see my homegirl just Capanna fight. She's going to be on the prelims down in San Diego support some southern southern California love. Yes. And then at five o'clock on ESPN on main on the main channel on ESPN. They'll have some of the fights there. And that of course, the main event around seven o'clock, we'll be. The main event fights will be on ESPN plus again, but you'll be able to get a little taste of the prelims on ESPN at five o'clock tomorrow. So why did you dillashaw so awesome? Okay. This is crazy what he's trying to do. So so hear me out. He is undisputed. Right. He'd be he'd be Cody twice. So so there's no more question that he's the best in that division. He's now moving down to a division that probably after this fight win or lose is going to be gone eliminated from the you have C won't exist anymore which lets you know, why they were so ready to trade Dimitrius Johnson for Ben aspirin in a higher division, by the way. Right. So if TJ goes down and wins and becomes this to division champ. And legitimately is the killer of a division. He already holds the title of snake? Right. That's what that's what alpha team alpha male branded him. Yeah. So who tow has embraced that as well? Killed a snake at the. Conference take one. Yes. I don't Peter to go after it was a rubber sill tell them out. So now if he beats him he's saying he wants his next fight to be against max Holloway, which is a couple of divisions would be to higher than where he's fighting. So who'd one higher than his right before max moves up in weight to try to get one of those guys like Connor hubby or Tony Ferguson. Yeah. Which would be really the only three fights max would want if T J dillashaw does this and becomes a three division? And you're saying he can't that's crazy. It's crazy if he goes up first and then tries to cut way short just scientifically break you. Right. So if you seen photos of them lately, he legit looks like skeletal or from like, it's it's crazy. You could see his organs. I saw his heart beating creepy. But if he pulls this off and becomes the three division champion. Yeah. He cannot only then star. To say, I'm the greatest of all time. Right. It'll make people hate him so much. Yes. That the UFC can finally have a villain. Yes. That fights serve Brock listeners like once a year, or if that right, but TJ could seems to have embraced it. And there are people who love him. But he has that like, I'm such a jerk smile. He's he'll if he started going like, I'm a three division champion. Nice to division champion of like he just can own that on that can really start to mainstream the sport. Because everybody needs a he'll when Floyd Mayweather junior decided to do that that twenty four seven and really commit to. Now, he ended up living the gimmick, right? But really commit to that. He'll it skyrocketed. His box office is pay per view cost and his career which for a boxer was already grant..

"Ben Evita's was telling me, and I'm the guy who's gonna make sure that families and the these fighters have opportunities, and I'm gonna prove that there's a legitimate market for a real one hundred and twenty five pound guys. And on the other side, you have T J dillashaw doing the exact. Opposite. Just sees me meat. I love this contrast heading into fri- or Saturday. I suppose how do you feel about it? I think it's right. I think it's perfect. Just like you said, I think that pseudo specially is better cast in this role. I think he wants to be a good guy. I think he believes what he's saying. And I think that that's probably true. I mean, the Soto the snake was an act, of course, you know, what I mean? But the rest of you get to the dole shots, I know we've seen many different dillashaw. So it's kind of like you go through. That's that's where it's a little bit interesting. But I can appreciate him actually taking a heels the sponsor to all of this event enjoying changing. And it's almost like he's instinctively now going to be the opposite of his opponents. And I I find that somewhat fascinating amount. So think that he is that kind of guy, and he's a little bit of a rob arouse, or you know, What what I mean? I mean? And I it was fun to it was fun to watch that. I I think that he's kinda come along with you remember him from the early days if you ever interviewed him early on. He he was like he reminded me of small Ryan Bater they were both like these kind of athletes who grown up kind of watching pro sports. And you thought everything you ask them was going to be very vanilla. And what they would responded what an evolution for that guy. You know? So I I'm enjoying it. I agree with, you know, the only thing I was going to say is that you mentioned this permission. Like, the reason it didn't make sense original because we were talking about Dimitrius Johnson and dillashaw for a long time that fight made all the sense in the world two guys at the top, right? Henderson Huda wasn't in the picture. And it was almost like you couldn't justify him. You know, inheriting that Mojo by beating Dmitri's Johnson. It didn't make sense to me on that level. But as we went on and he's position him. So it's because he's positioned himself in that way. And because he's has this greater purpose. That has that that that I have now by the fight on its on its big on the big level, the Dimitrius fight and the trash talk does build of feels very natural. It doesn't feel like, you know, you're being you know, forced to like consume this this the storyline. Just kind of a little snake thing, we should know. But everything, of course, the the the. The same thing better. Just just going back and forth and just feels very natural in that sense. And honestly, even the snake thing if very feels it feels like very pseudo esque like him was showing up on brand. Yeah. So it feels it feels cool. And also, I don't know if you guys get the sense. But like these two are I mean, those not forget so who won an Olympic gold medal. Wrestling TJ dillashaw everyone's talked about how how competitive that guys. Even in the training like I can feel their competitive competitiveness bleeding through their trash talk. Like, they like, nobody wants to leave like, you know, everybody asked to have the last word, and they're kind of just going back and forth. And you know, who does bring out his medal. And I it's great. I'm really enjoying it. Right. I think that's a great way of introducing this next one about about TJ. I saw a really interesting movie recently. Have you guys seen this? It's came out last year. It was in black and white for all but five seconds of it just seeing this movie, the captain. It reminded me of T J dillashaw sort of is going to sound like I'm I'm being mean to him. But I'm not here me out. It's a true story right here. What happens this private in the in the German army two weeks before the World War Two ended? So before the allies one day, he comes upon this, abandoned caller, and it is a pristine German captain's uniform and it fits him..

"He's not he's actually the teachers extra very nice guy. It just doesn't come off that way all the time for the fans. And now, he's endearing in abrasive wearing snake t-shirts shirts himself going along with it, which I think is very smart and very. Wise, but are the teacher is the credit for actually being a sportsman of being a really nice guy in one of the things that has happened. Here is TJ former teammate Joseph Benedict, this who trained with every single day, and who Joseph will openly tell you was a lot for Joseph to deal with TJ will never speak on that Joseph will come out and say that Joseph fought Henry and Joseph feed him. And I think when you have that common opponent, even if it's a practice from partner versus competition if has its close as you can get them. That's what you've got to go off. But when Joseph comes out and goes, look, I felt them bowls, and I tend to lean towards TJ dillashaw. I think that it's really relevant the point that I would like to make for you though. If you go and watch Henry of who does career from the time, he fought Dimitrius Johnson. The first time the way he not only closed that gap but overcame it in the second fight to even the time when he met Joseph bene- Vitas it was very young in his career. So who is young in his career right now. He may be the world champion right now. You may be in a mate of it super fight right now. He may be an Olympic champion right now. He's still young in his career the way that he's growing any vulgar is very relevant to the Henry Saluto story, particularly if you're trying to make your pick for this weekend. Why the evidence that we've seen in the past may lead us towards TJ villa Shah, myself included, you have to take into account the strides and the games that he's making. I don't think that we've seen the best Henry saluda. In fact, I know that we have not I'm very confident telling me, we have not the Henry so little that. We saw the matrix Johnson. I do not believe could beat the Henry Saluto that's going to be in there with DJ dillashaw. The Henry Saluto that fought Joseph bene- Vida's. I do not believe the beat. The Henry little that's going to be there Saturday night against dillashaw. He's one of those guys that keep stepping up any all you can even see that Israel out of Sonya. I'm very big on him. And I'm very big on his skills and abilities, and I'm very into his fight coming up with Anderson Silva for multiple reasons, but the thing with Israel on a Sonya that impresses me. The most is is the gaps and the gains and the leaps that he's taking in this war in between fights as good as he looked on the contender series was nothing in comparison to how we look in his UFC debut. His fat is fight with brand was nothing in comparison to how he looked against Derek Brunson. It's the steps in the leaps inbetween time. And that is what is so hard to gauge. And that is what is on Henry side. You could take the best Henry that you ever saw which I imagine you would say was Henry versus Dimitrius Johnson. I think you would be right to do that. I just also think that you're right. If you were to assume there's going to be even better Henry and a year from now in even better Henry is that Henry enough to bring down TJ village? I do not know the answer to that. I won't make believe that. I do. But that's one of the obstacles that you have. If you're TJ you're in the TJ camp or your TJ trainer in Duane Ludwig. You don't fully know what suit of going to do or how. Well, he's going to do it. You just know if you follow his career he's going to do it better this time than he did last time..

"But but having a little bit more trust in faith in what would transpire made it a little easier to let go fighting. So as a positive is something that's gonna like you started doing one thing Domino's lead to you being on that. Or was there an interest of like after you kind of got butting post fighting for fighting was this like, you're like, okay. I wanna I wanna do that see guys TV on fought a lot growing up and loved it. It was like the only time where I felt real peace. Ironically, like, I just felt like I didn't think about anything else, you know, to only one hundred percent present. I think if people read a book like the of superman or stealing fire, and you begin to understand what flow states, look like, I wasn't an adrenaline junkie. But I was a flow state junkie and fighting brought me flow in a way that nothing else could not football, not anything and. Not knowing if fighting another trained professional would would would give me the same kind of feeling or not you know that that kind of kept me on the fence. But there was a guy I was training with who ran a local promotion rezone called rage in the cage news like just get in there, man. You're you're big. You're heavyweight look good. Get your feet wet. If you like it, you can continue if you don't you never. You never have to fight again. I'll do one in one of my first two fights and under thirty seconds. So pretty and that's mostly just on us. Lettuce is coming off a football and things of that nature. Lot of guys in lower promotions are barroom brawlers that are just they're trying to fight through JAL tissues, not really gonna they're not gonna out to shit as a fighter, you know. So it was easy to to just overwhelm with speed and power instead of actual technique. Did you notice funny that you brought that up? Did you notice that people generally had out of like psychological issues were holding him back in like that's what led the near? The only reason guy would fight sixty time. Times with a about a fifty fifty record was if they had some fucked up to them, right? I mean, there's that's something. I said from day one was if at any level, I get to a point where I'm batting five hundred. It's time to get out because it's too much damage on not wasn't fighting one hundred twenty five pounds like Dimitrius Johnson. And those guys take damage to. I'm not trying to discredit their TI issues in C T in all that shit. Devon's at every at every level, but certainly light heavyweight we have chocolate Dell and you Ortiz John Jones dente Cormie disguise that hit like Mak drugs like to to put myself in that especially for the lackluster amount of money that you make as a fighter it just didn't make sense anymore. You know as I was winning. It was very easy to stay in there for shitty. Pay because I was winning and the opportunity to move up the ladder fight for title. It was always the, you know, the carrot from the horse's mouth can be going. But the second started losing again once that. Got to where I was foreign foreign the USC. I said if I lose this one amount than lost that one and retired in heaven really looked back. Yeah. Did you notice that you had anything that works while you prepping mentally for a fight during that got all sorts of later on you, should that was really holding me back point biting taught me, you know, we had on the human optimisation our podcast with me just a second ago in we're talking about, you know, your background. And what led you in health and wellness fighting for me taught me everything about how to treat my body in my mind. There was a reason to learn that stuff I knew I had to cut wait to to make it down. So I wouldn't be a super small heavyweight. Right. So I figured out how to cut weight and how to get lean in lose fat for just so I could fight it to a five at light heavyweight. And then from there it was lower systemic, inflammation out our recover faster..

"Look at that, bro. It is tearing him up. And then he's sagging his way to the other side. And so this way head is on the same side as the overhaul that makes no elbow possible. Right. Even though you have the under hook a lot of guys like. A lot of your really good fighters in MA like your Habib number good made obser- Dimitrius Johnson's they'll keep an under hook. And they're like next time, you watch an exchange with somebody, and it's fifty fifty so they have one hundred hook and they have won over hook watch who dominates because ostensibly that's a neutral position where you have as many advantages as I do, but I've noticed that the very best fighters will take that neutrality that perceived neutrality, and they'll set you on fire with it, man. Dimitrius Johnson does go back into watch never gonna made off. You think you have an under- hook. He will in that to your body. And then take you in that direction because he's using it as a blocking mechanism. He's amazing at it. So it's not fifty fifty at all you gotta get double unders on those guys or some kind of a different strategy. So here they are. They're all locked up. He's going to push them to the fence. Now watch look he's already covering that side because it's killing him. Yeah. Is going to drive into the fence here. And he gets his back off of it for the most part turns turns turns and then look at this. As he tries to force his hip. He wants to force his hip square to push them back into the fence as he does DJ brings him into that very same side and then cracks and with the knee just like that. And then all hell broke loose thumbnail quiz, right? So what did you see? They're just dig into the body dig into the body controlling turning turning whatever way you're going. You're block he's digging. Then you're coming this side. And he's bringing it up high. He was so accurate with his knees in the clinch. So. Flexible, Ryan, he could do so much with it in that regard amazing to watch. But the rematch would not be like this. So here's one instance, you can put it back up. He learned from all of this Henry Suharto did. We are so watch. This Henry get drives to kick them. So hudo grabs it excuse me. So hudo throws a kick DJ grabs it, right? What are we doing here? All right. Pushes him back into the fence. There's a lot of ways to get your leg out. I don't know exactly. What's happening here? So if a wrestling coach does my hunch is that what's happening here is you see that they are tied up here with their hand control. So it's got nothing to do with that. What I think happens is to hudo pulls on the elbow of DJ. And then drives his foot to the Matt. I think he wanted to drive DJ into the fence because it actually enables you the stop harder if I can push down and out, right? Think about it. How am I going to get my my leg to the ground? If someone's picking it up, it's actually a little harder than you think. But if I can lean my weight for it if I can push you back, and I can pull up on your hand or your elbow. I can just loosen the mechanisms that are keeping it in place, and I can stop my foot to the ground, which is what he looked here. I can't quite see it though. Right. See that pseudo kinda turning and pulling it up and then driving us foot to the ground. Yeah. Or? Or at their. I think that's what happens. So number one's nice job. I who toe to get us foot to the ground. They're in a situation dead to rights. Now. Look at this space. First of all look what he's doing. He's got high side over hook here as opposed to a high side under hook like Dimitrius had. He's got an high side over hook which can still be problems. But look at that right hip, it's inside like their dance partners like the doing the, you know. No, they're out there doing the salsa in Cali Colombia style. Right. He's super in on them. So there's no real space to generate momentum or get those knees where he wants to go and on the inside space look at that elbow..

But it happened to be tied into the news of us going to a new time slot on serious excitement. We're excited about that. Because we've done morning for a long time. I know these after doing for us it is technically afternoon. So we've done morning early afternoon for a long time. Now, we're gonna do early afternoon evening. And you know, it starts Monday. That's that's exciting mill. Yeah. I get a whole new demographic as well. Yeah. Exactly. We we've done primetime shows in the past.
