"So the bracket broke right from them, but you know what? You still got to beat the teams in front of you and they did. And credit to them for that. I just don't think they can get any farther than that or even reach that again. If he's the worst defensive player in the league, which and Zach, it's also, look, we're all going to be colored by recency bias in this thing. And Miami took him out. They took him out. The other thing I was going to bring. I mean, that's most recently we saw him in the playoffs and they, you know, when you are in all MBA superstar caliber player, you know, with, you know, with great blessings, comes great responsibility and he got just completely taken out of a series. Completely. By Miami. And that's the other thing I was going to bring up because when they did make that Conference Finals run and I wrote about it and I talked about it at the time. One of the changes he made to his game was he would get off of it early, even when it was not necessarily going to lead to assist. I see that second defender coming at me on the pick and roll here. Kevin herder, you take it on the wing. I'll get outfit early. You make a play. Maybe the ball comes all the way back to me around the horn when I do that. By the way, the Kevin herder trade, which was partly to save money, I think they could really use Kevin heard her right. All the way to save money. Yeah. They could really use Kevin herder right now. And I'm not sure that he's getting off of it early enough again in that style. I do think Trey and Dijon day, like we all knew what the fit issues were going to be. I said at the time that I didn't really like that trade for the hawks. I thought it was too big of a price to pay. Even though I think those two guys are so talented that they'll find a way to make it work. They'll iron out, it'll never be Trae Young is never going to run off 20 screens a game. He's never going to go around setting screens. He's never going to be the off ball threat that you need around Dijon Murray who needs to have the ball. It's never going to be perfect, but they're so talented that they'll make it work to some degree. It's just not 25 games in. It's almost regressed in their level of cooperation from the first week of the season. And I just don't like what I'm seeing, I don't like what I'm hearing. I don't like it. And it's just a team that I would keep I had them as a play in team, like I had them 7th or 8th, I think in the east before the season. The 6 teams that if you had forced me, here are the 6 teams you're picking for like the 6 locked in playoff spots. Boston, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, team benefit of the doubt. That's Miami. Brooklyn and who am I forgetting in the east top of the east? Not Cleveland. Who am I forgetting? You like Toronto? Toronto, Toronto, who another team that I would there's a lot of Toronto buzz out there and we'll see how they look and I think they're curious to see how they look over the next month or 13 and 12. Those were my 6. I think I'm going to be wrong having Cleveland in the 7 8 spot. Hold on, you can't just get away with that because I listened to your podcast all the time and you do this and thank God Chris Vernon's on here today. Talk about himself in the third person. Yeah, you like that. I just Reggie Jackson. Do you? Or my favorite was Bobby Jackson back in the day when he was playing for the grizzlies. "Big gap between Boston Milwaukee and the Atlanta Hawks right now. And look, I think the hawks during that Conference Finals run, they had a measure of luck, look, they won their series, no question about it, but Kevin herder needs to play great in that game 7 against Philadelphia, and that was a lot about the sixers and how they kind of imploded in that series. So if I'm Trae Young, I've got to get my mind right now I'm gonna get my game right here because the numbers don't lie. He's averaging almost 28 points per game, but the shooting numbers are abysmal at this point. And for this hawks team to be a true finals contender, he's got to be right up there in the 46% range 47% range from the field as he was a year ago. He's got to be high 30s, even low 40 from three point range, and he's got to figure out a way to gel with the gente Mario, which I don't think is really happened at the way the hawks needed to happen yet. Well, that's the concern, right? Because in the off season, you know, I think most people, not everybody, but most people liked the move for Dijon Murray. Most people liked the idea of it. The Dijon Murray's gonna come in, take some of the playmaking burdens off, allow Trey young to be perhaps even more dangerous as a shooter off the ball. Certainly provide a lot of backcourt defense that trade young does not provide. And then of course, when Trae Young's on the bench, you've got dejante Murray to take up those minutes and still have elite playmaking out there. I'm always curious when you get two guys of that caliber together. And this is the same thing with Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland or any combinations like this. How do guys manage the shot distribution, right? His usage rate, Trae Young's usage rate is unchanged. So I don't know if that's necessarily something to worry about or not, but you would have thought that both guys would have come down a little bit as they learn how to kind of share the responsibilities. So there's that. You noted career low 30% from three. Career low 46% from two. He's not being as efficient and I don't know, I haven't gone deeper into it to look as like, is he just not taking the best shots for him? Is he forcing it a little bit? Is this part of the discomfort of sharing responsibilities with Dijon? So now when he does get the ball, he's forced and shots that he shouldn't be taking. Like, I'm not exactly sure where that lies. But, you know, you would hope that the ideal of course is that he has his best year in his most efficient year, getting another top level ball handler and scorer next to him. It shouldn't bring him down. It should, it should make his life easier. So that, again, that's a warning flag to me. And then of course, you know, behind all of this eventually, we get to the, this is making Luca trade debate spicier every day. So I looked at there's plenty of time to write the ship in Atlanta. They have had the injuries John Collins has been heard Deandre hunter has been hurt now Trae Young is hurt, but I boiled out of this. I'm more concerned with the way Trae Young is shooting the ball than I am with any disagreement with Nathan Miller. Like Nate McMillan is a very kind of in your face type of guy. I'm sure. Go back to the Seattle days. I'm sure I had plenty of confrontations with star players. It happens in this league from time to time, but Trae Young's game. That's concerning the way he's shooting a slipped during the season.

"You said, Jimmy's gonna have his annual ten, 12 games and betting against our exposure and this team that knows its identity knows this defensive identity. Didn't really play a good defensive gaming against the sons, a son's team that didn't obviously have cam Johnson didn't have Chris Paul. Dwayne Washington was going off from three. But just kept kind of churning through on the defensive end and then had a scheme in place to, you know, every time Devin Booker had the ball or in a ball screen action, they would switch it and then double them and force a pass and force someone else to beat them. And they just kind of know what they are, who they are. And still managed to win that game with Jimmy at the end, getting that great stop against Devin Booker. But the fact that it was so close at home and their schedule right now, they're about to go on the road. Road heavy schedule coming up. It could get pretty, I don't want to say ugly. I think this team is just average. I don't think they're very good. I don't think they're very bad. Their average, but that's just not really going to cut it. They have these sequences here and there where things look good, but Duncan Robinson is not hitting us three as game Vincent's not hitting his threes. It's just a thin team, really dependent on Jimmy Butler and Jimmy Butler's third on the team right now in usage. And I always want him to be a little bit more aggressive, offensively as a score. They needed him in that Charlotte game and over time, I want him to be like that more often and then that's just not who he is until the playoffs happen. But yeah, going back to the hawks, wait, hold on, can we finish my aim and then we'll go to the hawks, but absolutely. The butler thing. So last night, if you just watched the last three minutes, you're like, oh my God, Jimmy Butler. But it only took 12 shots. He has the ability to kind of, I don't want to say coast, but he picks his spots because he's older. But then you watch the last 5 minutes. The defense he played on Booker on that last play was out of control. That was like game 7. Defense. And I was watching it, wondering, in the back of my head, I wonder if he's putting on a little show just in case, just in case Phoenix wants to make an offer to 500 Miami team in two months. Maybe I don't know what it is, but I do wonder, I just don't think butler's made to be in a 500 team. And I think that's another subplot to watch with them. Clearly, they won three in a row. They kind of read their ship a tiny bit, but I just think that's a subplot that we have to watch. If that team is 24 and 28, because a couple injuries happen or whatever. I don't trust him to just be happy in a bad situation. Anyway, putting them on that hawks. What do you see? Always been a sucker for the hawks. I love Trey young. I think he's one of the 5 best offensive players in basketball. Pick and roll genius. His shot has not been falling this year, so I see a little bit of upside when he kind of things turn around a little bit for him. 34% of his shots last year were pull up three is now it's down to 25%. I want him to, you know, Jack things up a little bit more. They're not really falling. They will. Dijon Murray is just the offense is still bad when Trey is off the floor regardless of who's on it, which is a little concerning, but their net rating is positive because of Dijon, I think. He's just such a great, such a great table setter, such a great pick and roll playmaker, settles things down. There was one play last night against the bucks. By the way, they beat the bucks twice this season. One of those games was without Trey, the bucks are ten and three, two last week against the hux, which is pretty impressive. But there was one play last night in transition where he just squeezed, bringing the ball up in the open floor and he screams for John Collins to run through the paint, run through, run through. Drag his man hits Deandre hunter in the corner for a corner three. Just like a really smart communicator settles things down, I've always been a huge fan of his game all around player, doesn't really need the ball even though his spot up shooting from the outside is terrible, but his pull up from the mid range is great. The one thing I'll say is really concerning about this team. Really miss bogdan Bogdanovich really miss Kevin herder, dead last in three point rate. First and mid range frequency, I just don't understand there's some players on this team that just should shoot more threes and I don't understand why they don't and I hope that that kind of tilts back in the right direction as the season goes on, but you nailed it with capella. He looks great on Kong whoo basically guards Giannis and deku kumbo better than anybody in the league. Incredible player. So I just love the depth in Atlanta and what's really funny, I just want to say is that they make this trade I don't want to say it's a panic trade for Dijon Murray but you give up three firsts. Which is a lot. And you look at the roster and it's like they want to win right now, but in two or three years, that is when this team is going to peak

And you're saying that they'd get the first overall pick and traded to the Celtics. And through something that's going to ruin me for the next 15 years. That's great. We should do that. Man. Come on. You know, you know. Anybody that's thinking of tanking for when by Anna, somewhere Danny angel saying, hold my knock alcohol. It's jazz. It's not that easy. It's rockets. They're going. "Adjusted in their terminologies. And Murray is going to help a lot because I mean, I think one of the big things is if you have Trae Young and teams are going to attack Trae Young, you probably need to be really solid at the other perimeter spots around him and with Dijon Murray and Deandre hunter who I would like to see force more turnovers was probably part of that issue, but is a really solid on ball defender. It's now much easier to shift Trae Young to whoever the weaker of the opponent's perimeter players is going to be. And I don't see any reason why this can't be despite Trae Young being one of the very worst offenders in the NBA. At the point of attack, a, he won't be at the point of attack as much as you point out and we've seen them hide him on lesser offensive players, most famously in the Knicks series that they won two years ago in the next just couldn't exploit him at all. Nor could the sixers in the following round actually. I don't see any reason why this can't be at least an okay defensive team. A lot has been made about the fit of Trae Young and Dijon Marian offense about how these were two of the most bald dominant players in the NBA. What you want to say something you just made a face at me, what do you want to say? I feel like a lot has not been made of it. Oh, I feel like it's kind of been glossed over. Then make something of it, mister pelton. So I don't think the question is, I think part of the issue is that people will phrase this is, well, can they play together? And like, yeah, they're both really good players and, you know, hopefully Nate McMillan will adopt the Mike D'antoni strategy with Chris Paul and James Harden of one of these two guys is going to be on the court at all times. So we've got like 12 minutes a night where it's trae youngest team, 12 minutes a night where it's Dijon Murray's team. And then you're only looking at 24 minutes a night where you're actually playing the two wheels of the skies together. And Murray also is not, he's not a terrible catch and shoot three pointer. It's actually interesting having looked at these up for Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell last week. We think of those guys as much better three point shooters and they are overall than Dijon Murray. But in terms of catching shoots, he actually shot better than them last season according to the second spectrum data. They were so good. But off the table. So you never know what to make of those numbers, but continue, please. But that's not necessarily the relevant comparison for gente Murray. Kevin herder, who is now in Sacramento in one of the change that led to them getting Justin holiday that happened since we last talked about the hawks, when he was the guy who was facing the floor for the Dijon Murray John Collins or Clint capela pick and rolls, he hit 45 42%, I should say last year on catch and shoot threes. And he's also taken 7 of them per hundred possessions where Murray, you know, the other aspect besides his track record before last season is he was only attempting three and a half of those per hundred possessions. And sometimes it's as much about your gravity as a shooter is as much about how frequently you're shooting as it is about how well you're shooting it. So, you know, I do think that is going to be an adjustment early on and one of the things we talked about when I last came on is maybe if Trae Young is willing to at least do a little bit of off ball movement and be more of a threat there because he only attempted a 1.5 catch and shoot threes per hundred possessions last year, then maybe the most dangerous play actually becomes dejante Murray running pick and roll with one of those bags and its Trae Young spacing for him. I don't think Trae Young is going to love that personally. I don't think if Nate McMillan was like, all right, when you guys are on the floor, how about two thirds of the pick and rolls are dejante Murray and Trey, you're running around off the ball. That's not gonna go over well. And frankly, it doesn't really worry me, and it doesn't worry me because a Trae Young is just that good with the ball. He's so good with the ball that even if the spacing is a little bit worse with dejante Murray on one wing versus Kevin herder, I just think he's such an artist getting in the lane, floaters, free throws, has every pass in the book. He's a wildly underrated passer. Partly because he sometimes doesn't want to pass as much as he should, but he's a really good pastor. And I just think dejante Murray, what you lose and shooting, you gain in speed, athleticism and driving where if his guys sloughs in and Trae Young kicks in the ball, shoot, like a lightning bolt through that diagonal gap, he's in the lane and making things happen and you add in the defense and the rebounding and the turnovers he's going to create in the transition opportunities that will create. I think it ends up being a kind of a wash offensively, even if Trae Young doesn't change at all. If he changes 10%, 15%, he's never going to be Steph Curry. Everybody wants him to be Steph Curry. There's one Steph Curry. There's not even anybody who really resembles Steph Curry. But if he gets 10% of the way there, great, that's healthy. I don't really, I'm not that concerned about it. And to me, you named the guy who and you can expound on the Murray fit more if you want, but I want to make sure we hit like, I think to maybe the most important guy on this team now and going forward in terms of what their ceiling is as a team. Obviously he's not the best player or the second best player, the third best player, even though fourth best player on the team. I think Deandre hunter needs to make a leap for this team to really become a contender anytime in the next two or three years. And that leap is going to come a, he's got to take more threes, four and a half threes per 36 minutes is not good enough. He's got to take more because he's a pretty good three point shooter. And B, his decision making with the ball on closeouts. He's never going to run a million pick and rolls. That's fine. He's going to get the ball kick to him 'cause he doesn't have a ton of gravity. Teams leave him not wide open, but they're not super stressed out about him. He's got a pump, go catch, go more decisively and get way, way better as a passer on the move when the floor is kind of in flux. He had 68 assists and 69 turnovers last year. That's just not good enough. And to me, he's got to become the three and D and D where the second D is drive. He's got to become the apex of that for him for this team to hit its ceiling. Yeah, I think the idea of Deandre hunter has been better than the reality of Deandre hunter so far during his career. And he's had his moments. I mean, particularly during when he was healthy at the start of that playoff run, I feel like that was it. And then leading up into the 21 playoffs, that was a really strong stretch for him. It's interesting because you sort of mentioned it got to this with the volume of it. He hit 38% on threes last year. That should be out. We've found this ideal three and D without the drive part of it player. But because of the fact that he went from hitting 58% of his twos in 2021 to 47% last year, even though he hit 38% of his threes he was actually less efficient than he was this season before and had below average efficiency on league average usage. You'd expect that usage maybe to even go down a little bit further this year with the gente Murray in the mix. So at that point we need him to be ten to 15%, I think, you know, above average in terms of true shooting percentage to be a good offensive player for them. And it's also especially interesting because he's coming into a potential contract extension here and we've seen a couple of sub max extensions already signed by wings, obviously a lot of attention on the RJ Barrett deal, then also the kelton

That team is a perfect mix and I think removing one ingredient could have some serious consequences there, but I'm with you. I mean, I feel like I didn't see you take a ton of just like mid range stuff this year. It feels like in between game is a big spot for you to make an improvement. How are you going about kind of working on that in between game? That's one of the main things I've been working on this summer just jump shot in general, but taking the shots I get because I feel like I can get to a spot most times like whenever I want, it's just like it was just a confidence to shoot it and I've been working really hard this summer and I feel like I'm gaining the confidence to shoot. I feel like I've gained the confidence to see that for myself. But it's an incredibly important part of the NBA game, right? Like you watch NBA games, I'm sure and this is something I'm going to ask both of you but who were some of the guys that you watch that you try to pull little things from to put into your game? That there was a chance that Durant was going to ask for a trade before the start of free agency. We knew about it. We had talked about it with our sources. We had talked about it with ourselves. So, you know, just like when Dijon Murray gets traded to the hawks, Tim and I were on air. I can't remember what show we were. Oh, I think we were on, it might have been on get up. Or maybe we were doing the podcast, whatever was Tim and I were on air when that happened earlier in the week. And instantaneously, Tim and I, we'd already talked about it. We've already talked about the sources within 5 seconds of hearing it. We were able to give analysis of it because we were prepared for it. So the day before, on this just in, Tim and I were off, we were on, we were sitting over on the side. And the report comes through. And it actually been getting ready. The Big Ten, I'm sorry, I'm rambling here, Jimmy. Had just done the thing with USC and UCLA and they were lining up Pete family. To be effective, you know, we were in a break and Pete samo was lining up his shot and getting already and he's talking to Dan Graziano and we were getting ready to go and Tim and I were off on that segment.

"Had to come up through the NBL, went on drafted, ends up here in the NBA. I get one into secure it, like just finishing up, make sure you get your $22 million. Make sure that you are set for life. I think that it's smart. He hadn't made a crazy amount of money in his career at this point. Malik monk to 20 Bruce Brown two 13 Ricky Rubio back to Cleveland for three 18, any of those stand out. I think all three of them are pretty good deals on pretty standard monk in Sacramento was like one of those deals that was done very early so it seemed like they were keyed in on him from the jump. And I'm very curious to see what they imagine his fits going to be in terms of, you know, I think you could play him next to Fox. You can play him next to Mitchell, but that's a very undersized back court. And so I'm so curious and then sabonis at center already leaves you vulnerable on the defensive side of things. So I'm curious how they're going to manage that. And they just traded for herder as well, which I actually like the herder trade. Yeah, we should talk about that. That was an awesome deal. I enjoy hurt her as a player. I don't really think they gave up anything of consequence. I don't know what the protections on the pick were, but I think they weren't like, I don't think it was an unprotected pick. I find it bizarre that Atlanta seemed set on getting off of the herder contract. Because I actually really like his fit with Trae Young and Dijon Murray. The thing with Kevin is that Kevin struggles defensively when he's asked to be like the primary defender of a great player. He's actually pretty good as the secondary defender. I don't really get why Kevin herder is not valuable. I think Kevin's actually really good at basketball. It's also, you know, you mentioned as a secondary defender, but he's also, I think, pretty solid as a secondary play creator too. You can put them on and run ball screens for him. He doesn't have to be just a handoff guy. He doesn't have to be an off the screen shooter. He's got some off the dribble game. And I think I enjoy that for Sacramento. I think that's a good fit with sabonis. I think it's a good fit with Fox. They are certainly continuing to add versatile wings, who can shoot. It's a good trade. I like that a lot more than I enjoy. I think the monk signing is value wise correct. I'm just skeptical about the defensive fit with what their other back court were heard or you could see them. You tell me they start Fox and hurt her in the back court. Love that. That's a solid back court. Yeah, I agree. Like that would be what I would do for sure. I think that's a really, really fun offensive team. You know, obviously now you have Keegan Murray, who's blowing up several league right now as we're talking apparently. Justin holiday, I guess that you can make the case that he's a good three and D guy to play next to the John Murray and Trae Young, good lord, my brain just broke. But I don't know. I think I would have rather kept her..

"Probably my favorite guy in this draft. Very cool. Yeah, everyone loves him. And he's like the exact type of player. Classic spurs pick, right? Everybody on NBA Twitter, everybody who analyzes the draft. No one's really saying anything bad about him. He's a modern player, fits defensively guards multiple positions, selfless can go into any system. Plays with an edge? Yeah, so I love that pick makes a lot of sense for where the spurs are and who they also already have on their roster. And not trading Dijon Murray. Also, big win for the spurs. It's really crazy how many rumors his name is popping up into. I don't like that. I'm not surprised you don't like it. I don't like it because it's like, I don't think the spurs are trying to squeeze value out of digit Murray. I don't think that it makes any sense whatsoever. To get scared about paying him the max when his current deal expires. He's young he just made an all star team he improves every single year. He's exactly what you go down the line. Every team that's good is like, I wish we had Dijon day Murray. How do we get to John T Murray? He's just a cultural tone setter for the spurs and a team that's trying to build itself back up. He's the last player I want to say. Yeah, he is the last player from who's played with Manu and Tony and was there when Tim Duncan was on the sidelines and around the organization every day and I think that matters. So I would just be stunned if they moved him. I don't think they're trying to and to see his name and all these rumors just like, I don't know, it's kind of a silly. It's a bummer. I hope they don't move on from him. Yeah, it'd be nice if they could find a way to get a star. In San Antonio without having to give up too much because like sohan, Dijon, those are nice pieces. Those are nice pieces. I liked what the hornets did in just getting their center. Yeah, got the center they wanted. And then moved on the other pick and yeah. I like that Mark Williams, my guy, my boy. God, they desperately needed a center. Yeah, and they got one who I think could be maybe the best defender in this whole draft. We'll see. It's actually a 99 mantra now might not be playing..

"And I wonder, you know, at number 21, I mocked Christian Brown at number 21. I wonder if we get another one coming up here with Christian Brown. Because I think of these two very similarly and am a big fan of both of them in the way that they impact the game. Yeah, Christian Brad, one of those guys that you watched postseason and pushed me in that direction. So just rewatch, just rewatch them a little bit. I like Christian Brown two. I moved them up. I ended up having him at right there 29. So a few spots below you. San Antonio spurs on the clock here at 20. There's a minute 30 ticking away. Spurs took Jeremy sohan. We had kinda said, could it be a 5? They're taking somebody else up front. What direction do you think they go here? Is this their talent accumulation? Is this their swing for best on the board? We've talked about malachi random. That's a guy that if he hits could be really good. If you take a wild swing at somebody like Jade hardy, do you take a swing on a more of a small ball 5 at EJ Liddell, you're dispersed GM, what's your move here? Best player available. I'm not thinking twice. For me, that's how I Washington, like I would take time. I know that Josh primo, I know that I have. But I'm apparently for some ungodly reason considering moving Dijon Murray, I don't understand what they're doing there. But also, if you don't move the johnse Murray, tie fits perfectly with someone like that. Very similar. In my mind, not quite as big as Derek white and not quite as good defensively as Derek white, but the offensive impact as is similar, I think, to what Derek white can bring. This was our concern the whole way with Thai Thai. Like he's kind of the one that seems to be dropping just a little bit along with branum, yeah. I don't know. Are we on mute now is the pick in? Now we're good. We're good. I am awaiting. So it's the pickets and we're going to a few last words in here. So I'll let you catch up on the trades, the tweets here, Kemba Walker's being bought out. Is that true or no? Was that a sidebar? I see the Jacob producer Jacob has told us that kem walker is being moved. You know, another guy here that could make sense is Blake Wesley, I think. That's a really good one. Sensible. Yeah, no. This is fun. This is very, very fun..

"But the thing that bothers me the most is any time you suggest trading one guy, well, who's it going to be for? Or what do you mean? You don't like him? No, it's not that you don't like him. I'm saying all things being equal. If you could move this around, that would be something that I think would be worth doing. I would rather move those guys around, have them at different positions, have a different type of point guard who can initiate the office. I think that team sorely desperately needs that. And absent of moving absent of moving Tatum or brown, you're not going to get the guy who you think is an upgrade over smart. So you can't ask for it unless you're willing to pay that price. So those are the two conversations. People want things, but you can't have them unless you do something really drastic. If you could wave a magic wand and move all the pieces around and reset building around one of those guys, yeah, maybe you would think about doing it, but it's a lot of moving parts. It would be very difficult. You'd have to find a willing team. It would have to work out. And even then you're not sure it would necessarily work out. Great. But again, that's kind of where we're at with this. I'm not saying do crazy things. I'm saying you could run it back with this core, make a couple of improvements, and that's the best you're going to get. And at the end of their season, realize crap, I still don't think that's good enough. And then recognize that you probably do need to do something drastic. And or not, or maybe you, it puts you over the hump. And you might have time and flexibility to do it later. It doesn't have to be now necessarily. And that's the good part about adding salary and maintaining your future assets there, whether it's that first next year and all the first in years after that. That's a good thing about you. That's why I talked about my Brown for Dijon Murray, Brown for Halliburton, not just straight up, but I talked about those players ascending with other pieces coming in, trading to a city that's not going.

"So here's the thing. I worry about how playable jacopo is in a playoff series because I don't think you can punish teams offensively. Like Jacob hurdle is an incredible defender. I agree with you that the functional difference between Deandre ayton and Jacob hurdle. I think the Andre is like very slightly better defensively because I think that he can switch a little bit better. And I think that makes him a little bit more valuable in the playoffs. But the functional difference between those two defensively is very much smaller than what people would think. The difference is that Jakob can't punish anybody offensively and frankly, like I think would be a significant liability out on totally totally reasonable. And to me, that is worth the functional difference almost in their salary. If you think Deandre can play in the playoffs and has real offensive upside beyond that. I tend to be someone who thinks Deandre has offensive upside moving forward. Like if you can get Deandre who has shown flashes of being able to knock down like a 17 footer, if he can knock down that shot consistently and you still have someone like Dijon Murray to feed him the ball in pick and rolls,.

"But they also lost LeBron James to an ankle injury. He got it out and played the rest of the game, but very clearly it was not anywhere close to 100%. And afterwards, told us that his ankle felt horrible. That was his word. And then admitted that it had swelled up today. We got our media availability of Frank Vogel admitted that it swelled up. The ankle did and LeBron James is officially doubtful for tomorrow night against the Dallas Mavericks, Anthony Davis, meanwhile, got upgraded to doubtful. So there's some good news. Went through a full practice. Today, including scrimmaging and all of that. So bad news, good news. Both LeBron and AD doubtful for the game against the Mavs, but hope that LeBron is not a long-term injury and Anthony Davis sounds like he is decently close to returning for LA. Yeah, it's getting down to her, right? Time left in the season standings wise. They have by far and away far more difficult stretch to close here than either the Republicans or the spurs do. They're just a game up on the spurs and you just gotta imagine Greg Popovich would love to knock him out. They actually asked after the spurs beat the pelicans on maybe Saturday, it might have been. I think it was Saturday. They asked Dijon Murray, do you guys want to get into the play in tournament? And he's like, yeah, absolutely we do. So yeah, we'll see organizationally if that's still the goal. If they pull any more of these games where everybody sits, that starts to tell me a different story, but if they're going to play, play it out, there's the way. You know, it's going to be a battle to get in. And yeah, I mean, it didn't look good when LeBron went down. It was one of those gets up and he played and it's like, man, this dude's just like where we see his cyborg. He's a robot. Nothing can take him out. But you could tell by the end of the game. He didn't have any lift. He just wasn't moving well and just, you know, and then as you said, the rest of the guys just don't step up and it just kind of falls apart and becomes a mess. Yep. Yep. And that's the world that we're living in right now. Certainly, but LeBron James, hopefully his ankle does heal up, but I mean, air travel doesn't help with that. And that's what the Lakers are doing a lot of right now. Speaking of injuries though, we've got almost our whole shows injuries today..

"The the chronic injury concern risks are for real. I know he had if i remember. I don't wanna like spout off information correct but if i remember correctly there were some real medical concerns. An injury concerns coming out of gonzaga to So it just giving him a guaranteed three or deals like a little bit odd But regardless i do like that. They're willing to to at least look at that because he does make some sense for them if he's healthy but that's just a big if But so i don't mean to keep taking words. You're good so i'm pretty confused. By what the spurs have done. But at the same time this is a roster that is like desperately calling out for some kind of aggregation trade or something like that. There were some noise that Dijon murray was potentially going to be moved or something like that to clear out the the kind of logjam in the back court that you talked about earlier Damore derozen will almost definitely leave in in free agency Whether the spurs can get something back from sign and trade perhaps remains to be seen. I kinda bet on their ability to do so They've they've still got the rudy. Gay thing to figure out maybe they can get a sign and trade going there especially if you know the lakers are potentially interested or something like that another team. That doesn't really have any options. Or any assets available to acquire free agents but who who could make something work inside and trade but yeah they need an aggregation trade and this is a roster that they can make the playoffs playing game again without having a roster that makes sense all credit to them but I think there's some reconfiguring of the players. They have on their books that needs to happen. And you know credit to them for getting guys in the building and for keeping players who are good around even if they don't fit you can figure that out later and they maybe they will but for now it's it's a little bit confusing and this is a great time to remind anyone who's listening that like we're recording this. It's ten twenty two pm central on. Was it monday. The opening of free agency day so There are still probably some things yet to come. And the spurs are a team that has cap space. john collins is still free agent So i don't think they have enough cap space to sign him outright but not one hundred percent sure on that. So they're still shocked. But i wanna say they had other than the next thing. They're the most money to work with creation. Yes yup that's the case at least as far as i remember so There could still be something you have to come for the spurs that would make this roster make a little bit more sense or give a higher ceiling but for now..
