"Now on Colorado's Morning News has all Star festivities conclude here in Denver. We're reminded of how politics played a role in the events and why it was moved to Denver from Atlanta. And it was because of George's new what some people perceive his controversial voting laws were looking at the politics and the political conversation surrounding the Oster game. With Republican strategist Dick Wadhams and Democratic strategist Mike Dino. They joined me this morning. We affectionately refer to them as the deck. Andino Show, Gentlemen. Good morning. Hey, Marty. How you doing, Running? Doing very well, Dick. I'll start with you this morning. What is your perspective on the decision by Major League Baseball to move the game out of Georgia to Colorado because of the voting laws. First of all, it was a great coup for the state of Colorado and I listen, I give all of autocratic to governor Polish for being so aggressive to move the The game. But let's not forget Marty that there are hundreds of not thousands of small businesses, many of them black owned in Atlanta, who now are suffering serious economic consequences. Because of this, uh, which was was a political decision. My major like baseball. And I don't think we can take any comfort or pleasure in that reality, but it's a great event here in Denver, and I applaud the state for doing it might get curious your take on this. Is there really a distinction without a difference between the two states laws? Well, I do think that the Georgia law, which was really one of the first to be passed, you know. In 17 States, Republicans have passed laws since then limiting ballot access. And claiming fraud, which is rarely found, and I think I think you know that's one of the things that Colorado pointed out where the gold standard for boating Georgia just happened to be the first to pass the more restrictive Ballot access, particularly for those with voters of color are going to be restricted more so in that state and an MLB acted fast, you know, within a week they moved it. And Colorado in Denver was really the only place they could come to. A lot of these changes are based on the big lie that there was widespread voter fraud, but at the same time There are some ways to make elections of humans safe, safer, more secure. First of all, Marty, let's remember the big light started with Stacey Abrams when she lost eight, an election for governor. She's the Democrats in Georgia. She wants the election. She has never conceded the election. Just like Donald Trump. Listen, we've got our problem with Donald Trump and his refusal to concede but predating Donald Trump was Stacey Abrams. And she claims the election was stolen from her. There is absolutely no interest, no indication no evidence that the election was stolen from her, and I just find it interesting that the national news media will focus on on Trump buying Trump. Trump deserves criticism. The Stacey Abrams and Georgia Democrats have been claiming fraud and a stolen election now for going on five years. And so, um, let's let's keep that in mind. It is interesting to me that Democrats scream voter intimidation. Voter restriction every time there's an attempt to keep the process, uh clean, and I don't and I got to tell you, I think that They are. They are testing the limits of the public's patients on this. There is nothing wrong with voter ID with requiring an identification requirement and all of a sudden after the public indicated 80% of people supported that Democrats backed off on that, so we're going to continue to see backing off by them. Mike, What's your Take on that? Well, number one. You know the Republicans continually, you know, cry fraud, And if there's any fraud, most of the cases have been found have been Republicans who have been committing fraud. So the bottom line is is that Georgia had to pay the price first for restricting voting. You know, the players went along with it, and you know, the bottom line was when Major League Baseball looked around. They wanted to find a place, they said it pretty quickly that they wanted to find a place that had less political tensions in Georgia. In Colorado and Denver were the ideal place. I mean, one of the one of the MLB organizers quoted it was Denver or bust, and I think, you know, a year ago, Dick and I were lamenting how bad downtown looked, and now it's so vibrant and alive with with people and fans. It's great to see the turn around, and it's a victory for us. It looks great. Right now. The cops have been that have On every corner downtown. They cleaned out the homeless. I don't care what Hancock says. They basically got the homeless out of downtown for a period of time, Crime and homelessness have not been removed from downtown. Those problems still exist. It was really pretty this week. But it ain't going to be that way next week and and in months to come. Denver is is in decline and with crime and homelessness and they've got to do something about it. I'll end with you on this one. Mike and I'll ask you the same question as well. Does this kind of battle? Does it win voters or does it win elections? Well, I think the president's going to speak about the fact that we need a federal law and we need something that is Is more across the board than each state, doing their own rules and trying to rig the elections in their favor, particularly for the Republican side. Take your response to that. Yeah, there's no rigging of elections, in fact that that charges is also as Donald Trump, claiming his election was stolen from him. There is nothing wrong with it with them trying to reinforce the integrity of elections. And there is some responsibility on voters to abide by that. And Donald Trump is dead. Wrong to claim that the election was stolen from him. Democrats are dead wrong to say that Republicans are trying to keep voters from voting. Republican strategist Dick Wadhams and Democratic strategist Mike Dino. Thank you, gentlemen. Appreciate your perspectives. Thanks, Marty. Thank you. Hey, coming up here shortly. It's a chance for you to win $1000 with the keyword for cash. Keep it right here. Colorado's morning News on cable news radio. We get ready for the 6 30 news cast weeks..

"Some of the really damaging stuff Polish has done or not done as governor or Bennett and you had just pointed out a couple of examples, including his, You know, 97% voting with Bernie Sanders, and I think the vast majority of folks don't know that because the media is so friendly to the Democrats. I totally agree with you, Dan. And it's just like that very damning story by Colorado public radio of all things about the way that poets mishandled the nursing home. During Covid. And clearly there were people who died. That should not have. Yeah. Based on the performance of his Colorado public Health Department. I mean, you can. You can just the crime figures. I mean, the way I mean, wait. What I would love to see is the ad About showing me damage to the capital night after night and and and co. Was not giving any kind of public response. That's right. A lot of these things. The issues have to be taken to poets, and that's why we need strong candidates where the strong campaign to do it. Amen. We'll take Kate appreciate the time my friend didn't look forward to the next visit. Thank you, Dan. Thank you very much that his dick Wadhams breaking down this new poll from a Democrat pollster. Great reason to hope for the GOP 8554058255 the number when we come back how young is too young to be charged with the crime Right here in Colorado. We're talking about two South Carolina case main killed on his tractor by an eight year old and a nine year old. They've been charged in South Carolina. Would they even face charges in Colorado? Would it even be possible? We'll talk about that when we come back 8554058255 I'm the Dan Capital Show. Duncan has a tasty way to take an afternoon break without breaking the bank..

"Of Colorado 30 years in the ring, fighting for truth, justice and the American way we And Catholic so much to fight for so little time. So glad you are here. 8554058255 the number fire at will, if you want to text this show 57739 started D a N and Please do text early. I want to start getting those as soon as possible. So much to talk about on this. Gorgeous afternoon going to talk about Hey, how young is too young. File criminal charges against and we're going to talk about that in connection with 62 year old Danny Andrew Smith, who was just out on his tractor doing his job in South Carolina. When he got shot to death and the perpetrators were eight and nine years old. Not 89 9 18 19, but Eight. And nine And they are being criminally charged. Should they be? What kind of punishment what should be charged. But the big question how young is too young to charge 8554058255 the numbers, So it's going to be getting your take on that. And I think you're gonna be very interested to find out what the law is in Colorado. And what kind of danger that creates. But is that really a loophole that you would want to close so we'll get to that in a second. Also at Dick Wadhams will be joining us at 5 36 to talk about Poll just came out from a Democrat group. And I'm sure it has a Democrats, you know, dancing around. You know the ballot box are probably out buying dumb already. But I see an awful lot of good in that poll for conservatism for the GOP, and by extension for the great state of Colorado. So we will break that pole down with Dick Wadhams at 4 36. Also in the show today, I want to get your take on an interesting idea whether we should have cameras. In the classrooms. No. Because with all this craziness going on right now, just the moment we're in, right? The craziness going on with critical race theory or remember, I mean that Title has sort of become a trap, You know, So what it's it's really about is all of this teaching going on right now out there wherever it is happening, and it's not everywhere, But if you don't stop it, where it is, then it will be everywhere. All of this race, hate teaching going on no matter what name not what title you want to put on it? So some parents now saying there should be cameras in the classroom so we can see what our kids are being taught. So I'll get your take on that, of course, and we'll talk about a covid restrictions. Have some interesting sound from Biden administration now talking about maybe The rebirth of some covid restrictions says this Delta or that Delta variant starts to cross the country. And will Colorado ever go back. Would you ever go back? If we were in the exact same situation? We were with Covid 19 with some variant? Would you support the same kind of restrictions any kind of mandatory restrictions, so all of that ahead, But I want to start with something that Is more personal. But even if it wasn't more personal, it should be just as important just as important to me just as important to you and to everybody, even though it occurred in Chicago. Because again, you know, we are experiencing the same sort of thing here in Denver. Same sort of thing in different parts of Colorado, and if it's not stopped now, it will only get worse and will only spread further throughout. Our listening audience, But it does affect Colorado's as well very directly and talking about you. You've probably heard this story in the news at this point. It's a national story. As it should be. I mean, you've got this wonderful 20 year old student. His name is Max Lewis. He's at the University of Chicago. And he had graduated from Colorado High School. Kent Denver. And by all accounts, a wonderful kid. And so Max Lewis is in his third year at a tough academic university, and he's working a summer internship in downtown Chicago. So he's writing their train. You'll hear it called the L because it's elevated above ground. It also dips down into a subway of written it countless times growing up in Chicago and afterwards, so he's on the l when he is shot dead. You know, they're calling it a quote stray bullet. But this is an elevated train and he shot in the neck and he's killed. You know. He was shot last week last Thursday, and he died on the fourth of July 20 years old. 20 years old, and so you know, it raises these big issues. What's the cause of this? Who is to blame in the critical issue of what's the fix? But we can't lose and there is that danger, right? It's human nature itself. Defense. It's It's to protect ourselves from going mad. We cannot lose the humanity in this of each and every one of these. These victims. He's innocent victims, no matter who they're that same weekend in Chicago, you had at least one infant shot. I think it was more than one. You had other Children shot each and every one of these precious human lives. But Max Lewis The last time I saw Max Lewis That I can remember. He was sitting at my desk in my study. And he was working on this impossible. I I t problem that none of the I T professionals could solve But Caroline said, I know the smartest computer guy in the world. In fact, he had a double major. I think computer science and economics at the University of Chicago and so Caroline brought Max over. To help solve the unsolvable problem in my study, and you know how it is. If you have high school kids, you know that there are lots of kids coming and going and they're all great kids, and they're all nice. And but Max really stood out and it's not like I knew Max. I didn't But he had and we've all met these people who just the light just shines so bright. You remember them, and I can still picture him. Sitting at my desk in the study. Hi, Mr Catholics. His big smile on his face. Single, Max. How's it going? You know, nobody can solve this says I'll figure it out. So you know It is so wrong, but But yet it just keeps happening. So how do we change this? How do we How do we bend the arc? I really want to hear from you on this, but it just I can't even I'm sure you can't either. I cannot even be begin to imagine. Um What his family is experiencing. I just cannot even begin to imagine that But all of us involved in this conversation right now know that As this gets worse and worse, says crime is violent Crime gets worse and worse in Colorado as it is all the time. And it gets worse and worse around the country. That the chance that it will happen. You know to God forbid somebody in your family or somebody close to you. Somebody you know, just gets larger and larger and larger and as a civilized society if we ever get to the point where we're willing to accept that Then we're going to get what We're going to get right. Yeah. Just unimaginable so You know your thoughts. What is the cause of that? I mean, and let's talk about Chicago because they're important.

"Position is the number three Republican in the U. S House. Is really hanging in the balance Right now. She's facing growing criticism from members of her own party as she tries to steer them away from former President Trump's false claims about the 2020 election being stolen. Congresswoman Cheney has said Trump can't whitewash his role in the deadly ride at the U. S. Capitol. And speaking of that Facebook yesterday upheld its suspension of the former president's account on its platform and on instagram for at least six more months. We take a look at all of this and more with local GOP strategist friend of the program. Dick Wadhams. Dick. Good morning. Hey, Marty. Label a deck. We are. We're asking our social media platform say about the Facebook Continuing the band on the present. What are your thoughts on that? I think Facebook needs to be more consistent in their policies. I mean, they allow Ah, Far Western screaming. Spew hate on Facebook. They allow horrible leaders from countries that have committed genocide against their own people to use Facebook s So if they're going to ban President Trump from using Facebook, I think they need to be much more consistent cause I can think of a lot of lot of worst bad actors in the world who they do not ban. President Trump. I had a problem with a lot of his tweets and Facebook posts over the past several years, But I got to tell you there's a lot worse actors out there and they need to come down on them as well. Let's just say in the merits that maybe Facebook shouldn't censor. But when you have 160 House Republicans who believe if you want to say the election was stolen, rig whatever nomenclature in language you want to use and this dovetails into Liz Cheney. Is that not problematic? And then on top of that, it's amazing folks like that will question Liz Cheney's, You know, conservative bonafides. Is that so much shocking to you. And doesn't that show you realistically you're GOP guy. The party is totally shifted to Ah, place that is not observation, all easily accessible, Observational reality. You know, I'm Marty. I'm very concerned about what I'm saying in the House representative. Well, Cheney Was a very effective spokeswoman for the National Republican Party in her leadership position, and I really am very concerned and, frankly, not happy. About this move didn't take her leadership post away from her. If our party is going to start a penalty, analyzing people for disagreements over whether this election was stolen or not, And by the way, I firmly and strongly believe it was not stolen, and we've got to get off of this stuff before we get into the 2022 election cycles. And we're not going to win. We have an opportunity to win back the House of Representatives in the U. S Senate in 2022. If we continue to fight these stupid battles over whether the election was stolen, and frankly, it would not. We are not gonna win in 2022, so I wish they'd get off. Is there an intellectual, disconnected dishonesty with leadership? Dick in that are the ones that think it or at least are saying it. Did They really believe what they're spewing? Or is this about currying favor with an electric we as citizens? That totally believe in these conspiracy theories, and they don't want to lose if you want to say that voting block in power, so they're trying to curry into it or or curry favor with them. Even if they know it's just ingenuous well. Recent polling Marty shows that about 70% of Republicans nationwide do bleed. That Biden was not elected president that the election was still went from from a president Trump and and that's a problem for a lot of Republican elected official because the state run counter to that They are inviting primaries over there inviting other kinds of retribution like it was chaining facing today, and I don't know. I think we're just gonna have to have this play itself out with over the next two years until the 22 2022 election. And see how this shakes out. But I gotta say, I'm very concerned about this on beer. Probably going to see it here in Colorado. There gonna be some primaries spot along the same lines eventually here. Yeah, we'll have to have you back to talk about that new congressional seat, but quickly will trump be the party's presidential candidate. 2024. I don't know what Trump's going to do. I don't think so. April I think he will put he will try to play a big role in Republican primaries and 2022. I do not think right now. He will. He will run in 2024. But I didn't think he'd run in 2016 year. Thank you. Dick Dick Wadhams, That's local GOP strategist Dick Water friend of the program. We're asking this morning on Facebook and on Twitter if Liz Cheney good or bad for the Republican Party right now, on Twitter, they say goodbye about 60%. All right on Facebook, Derek writes in Republicans are the party of independent thinkers. We have to not freak out when somebody disagrees. Lisa says she's a rhino. No true conservative likes her, Scott says. Wrong question. You should be asking whether she's good or bad for the people of Wyoming and America and one more to Joseph on Twitter says she's proof that there's still an element of rationality within the GOP interest, saying We'd love to hear from you on both platforms this morning, Facebook and Twitter about Liz Cheney interesting to see what her future will likely be. My driving this morning I heard people talking about her, saying she's going to become a martyr for this issue and that she is going to make her party vote her out of that leadership position. She's not going to go easily, not going to go quietly, not going to resign, right. By the way we are efforting to get her here on the program on Colorado's morning news, love to have that conversation with her 6 29 on Colorado's Morning news, we check the drive again with John Morrissey. "Thank you. K 46 our top stories on Colorado's morning news Facebook up holding former President Trump's suspension on their platform. However, the oversight board says the social media giant must reconsider the indefinite suspension. Facebook now has six months to reassess what the board called an arbitrary penalty. A local woman underwent successful treatment for blood clots that developed after she got the Johnson and Johnson covert 19 vaccine. Morgan Wolf got her vaccination April 1st and started feeling ill. A few days later, she went to the emergency room and was diagnosed with blood clots. Doctors used a blood thinner and help reduce clotting and make her feel better. She says she wants people to know there is treatment out there, and they should not shy away from getting the vaccine. About one in four Americans have been vaccinated against the vibe. But health leaders say we have hit a plateau. Dr Charles Learner with the Texas Medical Association says. We need to start enlisting the help of influencers. They realize that this is not about their liberty. It's about somebody saying to them. I don't give you permission to put me at risk. He says influences ranging from religious leaders to sports stars and those on social media can help. And House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy is throwing shade at Wyoming's Liz Cheney. She's the third ranking Republican in the House. I haven't heard members concerned about her vote on impeachment. It's more concerned about the job ability to do and what's our best step forward that we could all work together. Instead of attacking one another. Cheney has been very critical of former President Donald Trump. She voted to support his impeachment earlier this year. Well, coming up here on Colorado's morning news. "April and Marty here with you, Fox 31 pinpoint whether already for 47 degrees highs today we anticipate to be in the low to mid sixties, Maybe Yep, seventies after that, and we're talking 80 degrees on Friday, So it's gonna be really nice rest of our week. But then Mother's Day I was looking ahead. It's gonna rain. Okay, That's kind of too bad. Sorry. Mom's our top story on Colorado's morning news. Facebook's oversight board is upholding former President Donald Trump. Suspension from the platform with one caveat. The Social Networks quasi independent oversight Board said Wednesday that the company was justified in removing Donald Trump from the platform after the January 6th riot, the capital. But while the board concluded Trump should have been suspended from Facebook and Instagram, it also found that it was not appropriate for Facebook to impose an indefinite suspension. The board ruled that within six months of the board's decision, Facebook must re examine this arbitrary penalty and impose one consistent with its own rules. This penalty must be based on the gravity of Trump's violation and Prospect of future harm this time period allows Facebook to implement the board's extensive policy recommendations. I might've our reaction to Facebook's decision from Colorado Republican strategist Dick Wadhams, who joined the show earlier, he says Facebook has to be more consistent, nail our farm west of screaming. Spew hate on Facebook. They allow horrible leaders from countries have committed genocide against their own people to use Facebook. Bottom, says he's had a problem with a lot of Trump's past Tweets and Facebook post, But he thinks there needs to be more enforcement across the board. We are asking them Facebook this morning and Twitter what your thoughts are on the band being continued for the president responded. Those platforms. Governor pull US and state lawmakers unveiling more than $5 billion worth of transportation bill ideas to fix Colorado's largest infrastructure problems. The governor says the average Colorado loses 600 bucks a year in lost time being stuck in traffic, but it goes beyond that dollar value. How do you put a price on missing your kid's soccer game? How do you put a price on? Not being able to visit your alien mom after work because the traffic is too much. The 11 year plan has bipartisan support, including Republican Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers. Well, I personally would prefer perhaps a greater contribution of general phoned. More money in the highway construction lesson. The multi motile I'm a political realist, honey understand political compromise. I don't see a better package coming from the Legislature or the voters anytime soon. Bulk of the funding you two come from new fees like slightly higher gas taxes. There's also gonna be contributions from the general fund and revenue in federal stimulus money. President Biden will be speaking later today about his administration's implementation of the sweeping American rescue plan known as the Cove in 19 stimulus package. After setting a new goal for vaccinations today, NBC's Chris Maloney reports. He comes as the White House faces a showdown with Republicans on its $2.3 trillion infrastructure bill Republicans drawing the line in a much smaller $600 billion tab. Focusing solely on roads, bridges and highways. With the GOP, signaling it doesn't plan to budge. Democrats are facing the prospect of going it alone on the infrastructure plan, as they did with the American rescue plan. "Their lives. Eight forty five down thirteen ten. Kfi am a thirteen ten kfi k. A. dot com. Dick waddams is a republican political consultant and former state party chairman. All right Elections have consequences. This is something that we are as conservatives republicans abundantly aware out coming off of cpac president trump speaking at cpac and the question there was as the future seems to be. I won't say a chasm but a rift in the republican party. When it comes to well will. They adopt a trump ultra trump light or trump zero. And then i want to take that conversation from the national level on down to the state level because you wrote a great piece back in november about the case for colorado republican comeback and. I wonder if that's even possible. But let's start on the national level. Well there's no doubt gail that Donald trump still immensely popular With republicans and within that crowded south at cpac they they did a poll and ninety seven percents had strong approval of president trump. The most interesting number that came out of that same poll. Who do you support for the presidential nomination and twenty twenty four and he only got fifty five percent governor. Scientists have florida got the votes and others debt. What that tells me. They're not saying we don't want we don't like president trump. What they're saying. Is i think a lot of those conservatives gathered in at cpac were saying we understand that trump will continued to be a presence but we also think that maybe we need to take a look at some new people Who can express this This philosophy in two thousand twenty four And they're gonna be if trump does not run they're going to be a dozen or more strong candidates but there's no trump is still the dominant figure in the republican party. There's no doubt about it. Now as you wrote incomplete colorado page to by the way that piece is still if you want to check that out a complete colorado dot com. Just click on that page to link this back on november thirteenth twenty twenty the case for colorado republican comeback democrats have already declared colorado to be permanently and deeply blue but if there's any solace a republican could have in the election of the doddering joe biden. You know. world leaders are getting a little worried about The basement campaigning. Joe that seems to be putting a lid on it with wild. Abandon these days but if there's any solace we can take in. The election of joe biden is president. It's at the exit of president. Donald trump will potentially remove the most dominant if not the only reason democratic wins in twenty eighteen and twenty twenty expand upon that well I really do think gail that trump was the dominant factor in colorado and twenty Eighteen and twenty twenty and when when republicans really took a real bad defeats in in both elections Because a lot of these new voters who moved to colorado several several hundred thousand by the way are frankly they're not only more liberal in their outlook Than i think most tall rams but they were. They were horribly anti-trump And they saw every every republican candidate through the eyes of the prison of trump and so now with trump off the stage and he's not off the stage. Well he's no longer president what we need to find our candidates who can appeal to the new voters Because they are registered unaffiliated thing might They voted democratic. The last two elections. We need to find candidates who can transcend the republican base and an appeal to these new voters. We'll never get the win. An election again In colorado And every need to find a candidate for governor who can articulate an agenda that can attract these voters like owen fit back in one thousand nine hundred eight by the way bill. Owens is now the only republican governor to be elected in fifty years in colorado. that's which which is mind numbing. It really is but if we if we put up a candidate who cannot appeal to voters will we'll lose another gubernatorial election But i think we have a shot at twenty twenty. Two biden is going to be very unpopular. In my opinion. I think polar some of the stuff is finally going to start bringing him down a little bit and his numbers. And i think we've got a shot in twenty twenty well on that positive note at certainly. Do appreciate your taking the time. For let you go weld county wyoming. A lot of people looked at that movement and said oh boy here we go back to what was that. Twenty thirteen in the secession fifty first states movement. But it's interesting because well though governor jerry pola seems to have it out for weld county rural counties throughout the state well when the wyoming governor said. Hey well county. We'd love to have you pull escape back hands off well county where you think. That goes well by the way. I don't think that the governor police completed the sentinels. What he really meant to say hands off well county. Because i'm not done destroying it yet. "Morgan times coming out with an editorial this from their editorial board the headline says it all support a rancher. Eat meat and lots of it this of course referring to the Proclamation issued by governor. Jared polas declaring march twentieth. Meet out day. Well didn't take the weld county. Commissioners long and other county commissioners following suit. I believe in logan county as well by issuing a proclamation of their very own declaring march twentieth meet in day. What is this assault on rural colorado eight thirty eight now. Thirteen ten a thirteen ten k. f. k. a. dot com northern colorado's voice mornings with gail from the auto collision specialist studios joined this morning by dick waddams a republican political consultant former state party chairman. Who ran campaigns for governor. Bill owens and us senator. Wayne allard mr waddams. It's been far too long. Gale a nice to talk to you. It has been to hog. And you as well so yeah. This is just the latest. I would say sallow. I think of it more as a scud and not a very well thought out one at that. As you had governor. Jared paula swell taken a shot and a pretty significant one at agriculture which brings in a ton of money. And then we'll get to oil and gas. But what was he thinking. I love how the administration is trying to walk it back and for me. It's kind of an epic fail. They cannot walk it back again. I mean he didn't withdraw the the proclamation. He's not he's not Repudiated his own remarks about about the efficacy of fake meat. And that people should should avoid real meat He's it's His his agriculture commissioner Had some lame comment about how they're trying to promote to colorado beasts a across the country. I say i don't believe it and It doesn't even if it doesn't it doesn't do anything to mitigate the damage they have done I do think though they have on so many issues. Dale they're playing with fire on this one because there are reports now that Some of the breed associations that Have always been in denver for the stock show right now considering staying in oklahoma city i think again off the top of my head. It was the national hereford association. If i'm not. I might not have the exact name of that group. But yeah you're absolutely right. Not sensibly didn't Governor police Basically and you know we can't get through the day without a nice juicy rationalization and justification. But didn't he say he issued this proclamation to help the national western. Oh my god he might be I gail you know i. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He'd be he was elected governor I not anymore. I mean his actions are punitive and they are always directed at rural colorado and whether it be oil and gas with her now. It's agriculture We aren't we already saw this earlier when he appointed that ellen kessler the state veterinary medicine board. Who is an anti she. She is a radical animal rights activist and she's attack to the four h. program which is meant so much to rural america not only real colorado. She is a radical and he put her on the veterinary medicine board. It just boggles the mind. It seems as though he's talking out of both sides of his mouth and we in weld county can't help but take it personally. Because well it started with oil and gas and then it went to the rather arbitrary and capricious ever-changing covert nineteen. Dial in which the weld county commissioners took a pretty firm stance on saying. Hey we're adults. We know how to do the right thing during a time of covid. Nineteen we know. All about social distancing But we also want to support our local businesses. Well that didn't sit well with the governor. So it didn't surprise anyone in weld county least of all the weld county commissioners who have been in its crosshairs for quite some time When he came out with this meat out today. I mean it's starting to punitive to me. Dale there are there are policy differences On these issues but it is starting to look to me that this is politically punitive on his part. I mean everyone of his major policies. He's things like rural. Colorado is in the crosshairs. I mean you oil and gas now agriculture What what else. He destroy That in the comments read with the areas that are most affected by this are Are the fact that they have voted very heavily. Republican weld county in rural colorado or still. There's still voting very republican and it. I beginning to believe that this is. This is a conscious strategy to try to destroy the parts of colorado. That didn't vote for him or other. Democrats these if you election cycles. I didn't have that. I did not think that before but This latest Attack has led me to believe that well in from an economics perspective. It makes no sense whatsoever when you have you know along with tourism you've got oil and gas you've you've got agriculture of primary drivers of the state's economy. What is he thinking and does he understand that. Well there's a lot of folks particularly in agriculture. Taking a hard look at november. Eight twenty twenty two because that's general election day in colorado and well governor police you're on the palate. Well he's under a he he he's not going to win. Walton county a rural colorado. But he frankly. I don't think he cares but the what he what he was. Totally underestimating. is that these. Actions will take a toll on him in denver metro area for instance because there are going to is going to be or problems. Downtown denver with Oil companies. Who are putting Office space up for that. They're going to be fewer workers downtown. Already gonna see a change in how companies overall Operate their offices. I if the i think denver the nationalist and stock show is in the is strengthened by what he's doing because arnold breed associations collectively decide to not come to denver and to stay in oklahoma city that will undercut the national western star. Show well that affects hundreds of thousands of people in the denver. Metro area I under i think pull us and people can The very liberal democrats. Don't think there's any relevancy to their lives in colorado Or or in weld county. They really don't but i think they're going to find out that these actions are relevant to.

"Editorialize point excerpt from the fort. Morgan times editorial board headline kind of says it all support a rancher. eat meat and lots of it. I'll tell you what to eat. That's totally up to you. Unlike governor jared police who issued the proclamation that march twentieth would be. Meet out day supporting Well the consumption of plant based products. What is he thinking. You talk about biting the hand that feeds you eight or seven now thirteen ten. Kfi a thirteen ten k. f. a. dot com mornings with gail from the auto collision specialists studios and mine. I add Biting the hand that feeds you both literally and figuratively as the assault from under gold dome and yes from behind. The governor's task continues on rural colorado. Well yesterday no surprise here. And kudos to the weld county commissioners as they issued a proclamation of their own declaring march twenty fifth as weld county ranching livestock and meat in day joining the colorado cattlemen's association. Of course governor's office is doing some damage control. But in my humble estimation it's about it's feckless as was governor. Andrew cuomo's air quote apology for well. Making people feel uncomfortable as we heard from the governor yesterday. Joined this morning by weld. County commissioner perry buck commissioner bach. Welcome to the show. Thank you very much jail. But after tell you first and foremost i wanna thank you for being the voice of northern colorado. I do listen to you every morning. And i appreciate your support for what we try to do. When in northeast colorado and in weld county Do you get it. You know not too many people do but you get it. I appreciate your very very kind words but Yeah as this assault continues. And i'm sorry i it seems to me that much of this is targeted at weld county. We look at the war on oil and gas the ongoing war on small businesses and of course the most recent salvo scud. I should say attacking agriculture in weld county. And i'm sorry what a meat had thing for the governor to do well and i i agree And i like. I said i was insulted. i think if you look back and the thought of doing another day would be promoting just vegetables instead of doing a meat out. I mean it. The thinking is just again. It just encourages the rural and urban divide. And that's what we've got going down there in denver. It's so frustrating Well especially for you. This really hits close to home because you have a long tradition. A long history of culture in your family absolutely and i am so proud And honored to be his daughter. Bill webster who had webster feedlots Eight miles east of greeley Twenty five thousand head custom caffeine operation. And i just know in my heart of hearts be at all where i am without My father and throughout his career it was all about Livestock and as he was the former past president of the colorado livestock association. I'm just so proud of what my father's about. And i just give so many kudos to him and but but it's it's more than that too. It's it's a culture. It's a heritage that we have in the rural colorado right areas aware. You know you. We helped neighbors in times of need. And you're you're the dinner table is set for family time and The important life lessons could be learned in a barber shopper. A hair salon and and we do stand for the national anthem and we do respect the police and we do appreciate the veterans we. We just have a culture out here. That is so different than the. I you know i have to tell you. I just think we are two generations of knowing where our our our food comes from It's absolutely terrifying. We have the chance yesterday to talk to former congressman bob. Oh pray Also an author two-time candidate for colorado governor. Whether the list goes on. And on and i i gave him a a new moniker calling him a bison boss because he's got thirteen hundred acre ranch in jackson county so we spent most of first part of the interview talking about well the proclivities of bison but he feels the same way that you do but the question is. How do we turn this around. I mean given the fact weld county leads. The state in agricultural products sold Brings in two billion dollars annually of that revenue. Roughly eighty five percent comes from livestock poultry and other meat related sales. Can we turn it around. I don't know it's a good question and you know. I just wish every legislator had to spend at least two or three weeks out in the rural areas as well as maybe we need to spend some time in urban areas. But i think we we kinda get how they live out here. They need to do the hard work and the long hours and get their hands dirty for the greater good absolutely absolutely want start that bus. We'll get it. Yes absolutely totally all on board so tell us a little bit about that proclamation that you issued yesterday and and it's funny because again. I'm not minimizing the issue whatsoever. But i kind of have laugh because the minute governor. Jerry poll came out. Let's see the port morgan's times editorial board calls him. A governor impossible walker. I gotta love it but the minute he came out with that i said oh unsure the weld county commissioners are going to have a little something something to say about that and indeed you did. Well we did the Again it's it's our way of Standing for our agriculture industry. And if i i would encourage to go to the video because there was a gentleman That set it all He was a four h. in ffa leader and he spoke so eloquently and just nailed it in terms of What agriculture for does for his family. And he's got kids. Now that are that is in four eight and so it's kinda interesting when we started the proclamation process so many other counties followed suit and so again we can't. We can't fight enough for our values. Astier maybe yeah they definitely can't be cancelled and they can't be forgotten because they're critical not only to the future of the state but the future of this nation and i think the governor might need to remember a particular date as meat producers undoubtedly will. That's as the fort morgan. Editorial board fort. Morgan times editorial board points out that is november. Eighth twenty twenty two general election day in colorado and guess. What governor paulus your on the ballot xactly right exactly right and and so just i like i said encourage The people that came in.

More directives are expected from the Oval Office after President Biden signed 17 executive orders and directives. After yesterday's inauguration. The new president wasted no time getting to work, signing in order to mandate masks on all federal lands and taking steps to undo some of President Trump's most controversial moves by rejoining the Paris climate accord and undoing that so called Muslim travel ban. Now the new president can do a lot on his own. But that big plan of his that big ticket item that nearly $2 trillion stimulus Bill T O provide some relief from this pandemic that is going to take Congressional action. Maybe she's Mary Bruce. "Demonstrators becoming writers on Capitol Hill breaking into the U. S Capitol building, shutting down congressional meetings, and it begs the question of what direction the National Republican Party will take in the near future. Well, joining us now is somebody who knows that who's intimately aware of those things and more. It's a chair, a former GOP chair in Colorado, Dick Wadhams in a political analyst, Dick Good morning. Good morning, Marty. Before we get into some of the granular I just want to get on your thoughts of what unveiled yesterday. Murdered Diana about as everyone else. I was appalled by what I saw, uh, happened to our capital, and I worked in the U. S senate over the last over my lifetime total of eight years. Um, I just anybody who's worked in that complex or visited the complex had to be just appalled, but and I think President Trump is it was reprehensible What he said in his speech earlier in the day to the to the rally. Hey, did incite people to go to the capital and I hope I do hold him greatly responsible for what happened yesterday. No individual citizens must be held accountable. But That the body at the same time last summer when we had night after night after night after night of rioting across this nation, Joe Biden and the Democrats were silent. And so I think both parties have got to rise up and take on the extremists in their party. Both sides I I think that's what's got to happen. I I don't disagree with you there. But this dick seems like it's it always gets to this case of what about ism or will they do? It is well on the merits of this actually stand on their own, and I wonder from your perspective. At what point if the old cliche If you broke it, you bought it. This has become President Trump's Republican Party. This is not the conservative Republican Party I think you identify with and my writing, characterizing that And what does that go? This is what's gonna happen, Marty. We obviously on January 20th at noon. We're going to be into the post Trump period in the Republican Party. It will be a chaotic time in the party President Trump and his two sons are already threatening primaries against any Republican congressman. Who did not support the effort to overturn the electoral college. It's gonna get messy, and I think Republicans have a have got to stand up to that kind of behavior. I think President Trump did a lot of good things during his four years. I mean next to Judicial nominations, deregulation it none of those things excuse what he did yesterday or this notion that Republican members of Congress should be punished. For not joining him and trying to overturn the electoral college. And that goes to my next question At what point is if you want to say getting what you want become political expedience, But then it's not expedient when he does that. I guess it's like Hey, he enacted things. I know that that many who identifies conservatives like But what point are they issuing his character in this life that that character mattered in the conservative movement in the conservative party, Yet they always seem I feel make excuses for because well, he did this He got tax cuts. At what point are you like? This doesn't make sense, if if morals and character matter Well, I mean, his era is ending, Marty. I mean, this is so that discussion is over with, but, uh And I know you don't like him Well, that they did it to How many Democrats never took on Bill Clinton when he was having sex with an intern in the White House, But he's going back already. Yeah, that's it. Get control of this stuff. Right side. Those parties have got to stand up. To the extreme voices in their party eyes. This is not an isolated incident. Yesterday's been going on fine. Well, the president may be gone taking you're right about that. But there are many what people to call Trump loyalists that are going to still be there, And obviously he's got a heck of a voting bloc. So so maybe maybe the person goes away. But But what? What plagues If you want to see that there's there's still around. So what do you do about what is the current, for example? Like a Ken Buck? We'll talk to later. Or any of those who, to some degree have tethered their wagon to him yet separate when it I think again doesn't become politically expedient or they'll realize Whoa, this I'm getting a little too close to the embers for this. Marty with a Zeiss a work these next two years before the 2022 election. There were there will be a want of debate and discussion in our party. There will be Republican primaries front for nominations and the The trump Loyalist Element in the party will be a big part of that. Um, it's gonna be a messy time. It just gonna be a mess. A time in the Democratic Party to Joe Biden is gonna have to fight off the Alexandria Alexis. The Cortez, a constant Cortez is in his party who want to impose this radical agenda. They went. So both parties are in turmoil right now, Marty, even though the Democrats won the presidency There's a lot going on in their party, too. I think that's just gonna be the nature of both parties For the next two years. As I wrap up with you, you obviously the president will be gone. You have said that. But does he still represent the head of what is currently the Republican Party or is there somebody else that steps up? If you want to say to fill that void that maybe at least is still in some form of office. Well, any time a party loses a president there is there. You cannot replace the president. Whoever that president is, I mean, the Democrats went went through the same thing. When George W. Bush got elected, there was no leader in their party and parties go through a A time of debate and that what the party stands for, And so while what Trump is gonna have a big impact on the Republican Party, even after January, 20th People. He will not be solely the head of the party like he is now, uh, that ultimately won't be decided until we nominate a candidate for president and 2024. I have no idea who that will be. We have no idea trample run again, although I would say Marty after yesterday. I think Trump's Trump's potential to be elected president again or be nominated by the Republican Party is pretty tarnished. He's a political expert. He's a friend of this program, and I always enjoy having conversations with him. Dick Wadhams. Thank you so much Happy New Year to you and yours, and and obviously we'll continue the conversation. Thanks so much. All right, Marty. Thank you. It's 6 30 here. We got the newscast ahead. The drive Right now.
