"The song. Sure. On their late ninety thousand anyway, great, thanks to the nineties. Hey, if you're out and about well, not so much out in the bow river, you can see out a window, or if you're out and about this is snow reports that I hear from you eight eight eight seven thousand nine hundred ninety four like what what townie, and what's it looking like where we are in old city, John. How would you describe this? It's it's a lot of snow is coming down not ton sticking yet. It looks very there's a, wow, it's almost like a fog of snow looks like it's dick tiny flake snow wall. Yeah. Out there right now. I mean, it looks cool visually. It's really cool. Obviously. Hopefully, the roads aren't to affected, but it is supposed to snow for doesn't look many hours much. No, it doesn't but good. Tell us where you are what it's looking like in your area and give us a a snow report. Eight eight eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four theory on life. I guess you can say like on society. If you will we'll get to that coming up, Shirley. Let's talk to Scott and Ridley Scott your pay. Hi, guys. I'm gonna ask you a series of questions. I'll hang up and listen to your first of all, you know, you're not gonna trade your number one prospect six Sixto Sanchez and bring in JT real mutual and giving up, you know, for a. El Faro to if you're not committed to winning. So all right. You know, real mutual could walk in for two years. So that's my first point questions. I'll just say that real quick interesting. Yup. I wanna see the fills make moves now to substantiate. The talented cheer to try to push him over the top. That's fair. Number two. I haven't heard much about the fan base and ownership are they comfortable with Nick Williams and right field. 'cause I gotta be honest with you. Here's a brutal brutal. I think he's got a week arm. I think he misjudges fly balls. So that would make me a little bit nervous outright field going, Nick Williams. Possibly it could be a two year deal. I mean, you know, do you do you try to flip? You know, if you don't get Harper. What about the kid over in Detroit, neck, ka, ka, stylus, or whatever? I mean. I don't know. And then my third question is I don't know. Why is the fan base are so much against Harper Machado when right now. Yeah, we've made some significant moves but third fourth best roster in the division. We're in trouble. If we don't get, you know, this guy 'cause you know, there's not a lot of guys coming here and everybody keeps jumping on trout. Trout snowshoeing. So I'm I'm gonna go ahead and hang up guys must've to you. Thank you. Thank scott. Nick Williams, John. I it's fair to say, he's he's okay. You know? I mean, I prefer to see better we have seen worse. He's he's okay. And they can do better, and hopefully, they will do better. Yeah. So I, you know, I think that he's not a guy that you get excited about. But he is serviceable if we are I don't wanna say stuck with them. If he is playing right field for this year. Franck are probably the two were starters. It's a major upgrade. Listen Franco gets such a bad rap. I. Franco has has shown such flashes. And if he can put it together consistently can be a pretty special player. I mean last year. I don't know if it was his best year ever it. It had to be. Yeah. I mean, I it had to be right? Like he ended up. I I'll look at his stats. I mean, I think he ended up batting somewhere close to seventy again. It was a hollow to seventy. That's what we always talk. Well because. Continues with the same issues is he's always had. Yeah. I'm you know, he's got a shot. Some guys pulled together. I'm not a huge franca guy. The other thing he said third or fourth best roster in the division. I think that's a little harsh. Look there are potentially three really good teams here and the division has improved. The Braves obviously have talented nationals have town. Now, we got to know where where Bryce Harper leads to be able to really address an answer that question. I mean, impress Harper's here. It's different fills team. If he's in Washington, it's different Washington team. If he's on either team, then it's a different division entirely. See kind of you got to sort of know that answer. Obviously, the the national said pitching the match. So I think a lot of is consider fourth actually have some obviously some really good pitching. And it's a division. That has improved to say that the Phillies are in real trouble. I think is an overstatement. But what I will continuously say as I've said the whole time is. They they really could use one of these two guys. It's down to one of the one guy now because there's only one left, and they don't get them. There's a really good chance they won't make the playoffs. And that's why press Harper would help a hell of a lot of thoughts. Tom in bucks county. What's up, Tom? I was going great wonderful. I just want to get into the whole harbor thing. I don't want. I mean, everyone's speeding a dead drawn here. I mean at this point everyone said, as you know, all the sides, you take on it. But I mean, it comes down to the money, and you got to pay this guy. He's literally vapor. So this generation he's not he's not that Tom. He is. Eastgate. He's not. You know, what though Tom he could be now he couldn't. Sure. Cut it. He's Jimmy said. Okay. Trout trout group. We did it's hard for undervaluing. The fact that this guy is a young man twenty-five like Jimmy said yesterday. The oldest. He's been while playing. Major league baseball is twenty five years of age. He's got ten more great years peak. I'll give you an idea just a quick stat to give you an idea Bryce Harper is one of only eleven players he has the eleven one of the eleven most highest worrying, this terribly, but the eleventh highest home run totals through the age of twenty five in the history of baseball nine of the eleven are hall of famers and the other Alex Rodriguez, Andrew Johns, that's good. Yeah. So I mean, you gotta give this guy the money, and it doesn't matter difference between ten million and fifteen dollars these these people the wrong these teams nothing owner. That's not it's pocket money. This guy going make the amount of money. He's got you give this guy three or four you give this guy. Three fifty whatever it's gonna them where you were you concerned by the comments yesterday from Clinton. Yeah. I mean, I think he's a little concerning because you want him to sail. The right thing is you want him to, you know, be all positive and yet we're getting them these common here. You know, you want to hear what they wanna hear? But I mean, yeah, he's kind of given himself a little out. But at the same, you know, I can understand why he said. Jimmy, something great about the ninety s. Sitcoms. Good answer. They can make some really good answer. Was it was the TGI Friday. Right. TGIF was was ninety late eighty s into the early nineties. Yeah. And you had a comment nineties man because I was in the hotel prior to college football games like coming to and from meeting nineteen September twenty second nine hundred eighty nine for the mo-. But for the most part the nineties like just that very did. I say the late eighties and early nineties. It's the late latest eight the last three months. Saying don't quit. Don't question over here. Yeah. You're right. He gets some family matters. The shows rotate it I think I think Sabrina the teenage witch was in there. I was doing when I was out on the west coast. Strangers strangers was an original one, I think full house. I believe absolutely was and a family matter. Hey, so we didn't talk about what this three hundred million dollars ten year deal. Really does mean for for Bryce Harper. I mean, we all think that it means it's a win for Bryce Harper. Right. Yes. Where are you going here? Were you surprised? I mean, Manny. Yeah. Were you surprised at the Manny price because I didn't think it would be quite that high. And I was surprised it was a little higher than I expected given the stall of the last month and a half and the winds of the owners not being willing to spend money. So we heard they didn't want to give the ten year deal didn't to you know, we heard that the nationals offered Bryce Harper this contract. Ten years three hundred million dollars. He didn't seem interested. I was hoping it was because he wanted to be elsewhere. Yeah. But I didn't think Manny Machado for all those who said that. Hey, Manny is a better player for the Phillies. And I'd rather have him there. There are some of those out there. Not really coming out of the woodwork. But there were some I just felt like he was going to get something, you know, in the neighborhood of twenty seven million a year twenty five million a year. Just not the big thirty banger. Yeah. I was surprised though. Yeah. So it's a win for Bryce Harper that he got what he did me. Yeah. That Banney got you sat. Right. You know? It's a win for Harper's. What he says that while you, okay? He then he gets Harper that Manny got the deal. He got true. Yeah. And I wonder if it's a shock to those in baseball like front offices in baseball who are vying for Harper's services. You know, the giants in us that they're going to have to put more on the table. Then maybe proudly had on the team I feel validated in what I've said about the the players association and all the crying they've done. I mean, maybe Tony clarkin, you know, shot his whole now. I mean that guy's been whining and crying about owners not spending money one of his guys. She's got three hundred million dollars Gary sell areas. Seltzer the defender the players. Seltzer. Also still a lot of players out there. Deals air. Why would you not defend the place you're on the side of the billionaires? Cry for billionaires. Billionaires. Okay. Grammy river, billionaire you Crimea rip. In westchester. What's up James? Hey, what's happening? Are you doing awesome wonderful? Listen you wanted to a weather report. Yeah. Where are you? What's going on? I mean travel around the corner from dick Romeo, and we're having a nice little wet whiteness out here now. Yup. Yup. Tells me it's coming down, very fine. But it's it's coming down. It's not sticking sticking it looks like a winter wonderland out here now, really. John you're not in the city in the country. And it's nice. All this stuff. You know? Yeah. Seventy one years old. On no skis. Eyebrow can walk in this stuff. Yeah. I it can be it can be rough. All right. Don't give me something great from the nineties. Michael, Jordan, Michael Jordan with a second wonderful answer is a great from Chavez who had an entertaining answer in there. Earlier in the day. We just didn't allow to make. Shave say that Davis. Can't go there. But I got a kick out of. Yeah. I another thing we got a kick out of eight eight seventy nine ninety nine for. So we're talking before the show today and John makes a point. Because here we're talking about the nineteen ninety s and John made a statement something like, you know, nineteen ninety s like we're the last decade, suddenly. Okay. So here's the theory on life. And we seem like we kind of agreed. So then the nineties for one thing is the last decade that had a knee. Yeah. Me think about it. If the next caller, Mike in malzahn, it real quick here, we go, Mike and broomball, Mike. What's the name of art decade? Right now. I couldn't tell you. The Mike we're gonna come back to the we're going to let you make your whole point had your phone. Call that scenes, see that's my point guys. We are in a decade. We don't even know the name of this decade is nameless decade. I guess it's the teens would call. No one ever says that no one says. Oh, yeah. It's so we're almost done the team. The teens. Yes, no matter what when I think of like ten years ago. Yeah. It feels like it was just nineteen like we were in the nineties just shortly ago. It's bizarre. And like, yes, the odds you would hear that every once in a while..

"Get together here on CBS sports radio. Jerry, Mack hanging out with you. Can I thank dick Romeo, NUP prop and on the show with us today? He's a great guy. Great coach just a good person who I had the pleasure of getting to know during his time down in Philadelphia. I didn't get the belly till after coach it finished coaching up. The eagles in Super Bowl with them in one thousand nine hundred eighty when I was in college. But I did make it down there in my late twenties to do sports talk radio and dick was still emeritus. One of Philadelphia's sports sons and was doing commercials down there and for media work in a like, he was on ABC at the time doing college football analysts work and took a whole bunch years off from coaching between the eagles before he got back in and took over the Rams, and of course, won the championship with them. But I got to know dick during his broadcasting time dime away from the sidelines, and it just a class guy. I asked him during the week if he would come on. He's a gay be driving south. He's heading down to Florida when I guess extended family vacation and his phone went out on me didn't charge it enough on the way down yesterday. So when he got to Florida at the time that he was supposed to be on the air it already passed. So he call. Yesterday while I was on the air. And I got my phone sitting next to me charging is a matter of fact, and I hadn't turned down the ringer. So my phone rings while I'm in the midst of doing the show yesterday. And I just turned the volume down an icy missed called decorah meal and within two minutes, he texts me and apologized profusely so sorry phone died. Bubba can I do something for you tomorrow. Sized said yet coach if you want to come on board game start will have on right about two forty eastern. If that school and technically back, whatever I can do for your Doug deal. Jody and are tell my producer may engineer, Billy Jacques and Tommy Di would probably wouldn't guess about dick per meal, and I did I did more texting too. I didn't speak to him till we got on here. We just exchange text Dixon his eighties. Now, he's always had that youth will look dig per meal. Doesn't look eight years old. He's sure as hell does. And and if you just quit the interview he doesn't found eight years old either. But he is in his eighties now, and he's like texting fiend double-check. We changed the tax last year last night while I still on the air and said can come in tomorrow to forty he said gas, so I sent him attacked about an hour before he was supposed to come on you. And I now from now we still good coach you didn't get back to me immediately. That's a little worried when the show started. But within ten minutes twenty minutes started show, he takes back. His text response was okay. With a yellow thumbs up a glass of wine and a football didn't take dig Ramiro was going to be a big emoji guy. But he had more emojis than he had letters in his tax. His texts was to letters o and k and three emojis thumbs up a little glass of wine and football. So he's getting ready for an afternoon of football. Like, we all are saints Rams are officially underway. I play from scrimmage was an Ingram or Kamara off. Right tack on that goes Kamara for hotel. I miss a I play. I play was incomplete. So the saints looking at an early third in one ear against the Bacher. Sue, Donald frontline of the Rams. Yes, I'm on the record. I'm taking the Rams to pull the mini upset today. Caught an upset you have to quote it upset because there is a favorite in a game. And that would be the saints by three points. If you believe home field advantage accounts for three points. And that's what Vegas believes it for two teams met on a neutral field. Then you would say there is no home field advantage. And if one or two teams is home how much do you move the line in their paper above and beyond? What would be on a neutral field, and it is usually considered a three point advantage to beat home fainter at three point favorite at home, which means on a neutral field. They couldn't separate these two teams. They think they're that close in talent and sitting on abilities and will meant them in the light both of them coming off their wins in the divisional championship series last week. That was in part. The reason why I was leaning toward the Rams in his game. Because I was more impressed with their effort against Cowboys last week than I was that of these saints in beating the eagles. They did rally for me early fourteen nothing deficit and yet a defence shutdown eagles completely dare after eagles. Did nothing offense over. In the final three quarters that game. But the Cowboys running game was completely stymied. By the Rams last week. And I was impressed by that. So I picked the Rams for those of you who are loyal followers here to the Jody MAC show on CBS sports radio on the weekends. Prior to started the season way back on Labor Day weekend. Yours truly pick the Los Angeles Rams. And the Pittsburgh Steelers to make the Super Bowl that didn't quite happen. Because dealers did not qualify you need to actually make the postseason to be able to make the Super Bowl. And the Steelers came up short in air division site new at best. I was only getting one of two home. And I'll be completely honest with you the last time I got both teams right to make it to the Super Bowl shoot. I don't even know what Super Bowl number was probably the high twenty s we're now coming up on fifty three Super Bowl twenty twenty. Look this up for me real fast. TD today. Packers patriots. Homegrown against sells ninety four ninety five ninety six season ninety seven Super Bowl. So we're now in two thousand eighteen season two. So it's been thirty years since I got both participants right? Many a time I've gotten one out of two you get one right? And you get the other one wrong ought together. Too often I taken over to collar and when you go over to neither teams make the playoffs. That's when you gotta kinda bear your head and Shane I've only had a few of those. Thank you, very much that would be embarrassing, but I'm not getting both right. This year won't be a repeat of thirty plus years ago, and I didn't have the Packers and the patriots this year. Anyway, I wasn't gonna pick. Chalk which I thought was the patriots. I didn't necessarily think eagles with the truck, and you know, quasi-legal guy doing shows down in Philadelphia. But I didn't know that they were the favorite. I thought the saints will just as much a favorite as the Rams were. So I took a and the Packers always get their fair share picks people thought that Minnesota being in the championship game by adding a Kirk cousins that actually made themselves championship level contender. I thought the Rams were the team to beat in the NFC any AMC pick the patriots. If the Rams were considered the favorite in the NFC. I never take both Revich. You'll never see me do that unless I'm so it's so lopsided. And so heavy ended I'm not afraid to take favorites. But it's kind of cheesy and you shouldn't get a whole ton of credit. If you pick favorites on both sides. So when I knew I was gonna take the Rams who in my mind were the favorites in the NFC, even if they might not have been the Vegas favorite. I wanted to take the patriots in the AFC who were the favorites there. So I had to go searching for a team. I couldn't take Kansas City. 'cause I didn't know what Mahomes was going to be. And again, if you're a loyal. Listener here. I said Mahomed could be anywhere from a bust to a superstar right off the bat because I knew how much talent I knew the skillset we were talking about that. He could just don't call hit the ground running and explode. But I thought that might be severe growing pains as well. So I couldn't pick the chiefs while they were no growing pains Patrick bombs, and that's why they are in the game today. And that's why they are favorite along with the patriots who are should always be eight favorite basically every single year until both Brady and Bella check annex themselves from Boston. I thought Pittsburgh was a legit shot. I thought Houston could win their division and they did. But I didn't think they were going to the Super Bowl. I wasn't going to pick against the patriots in east. So I had to have somebody coming out at that division. If I wasn't gonna Kansas City, and I didn't even pecans depict took a shot would Denver a lot of people opt on chat charger bandwagon and dot the charges with the team to come out of the AFC before the year started. I didn't I thought they were a little overrated by the major insiders, and and fell pundits before you started native really nice year. They didn't make it to the final four. We know they got beat last week. But I didn't think going to the Super Bowl. So the Steelers word the logical team to me. I thought that they'd be tested in that division that the ravens would make tough form. And that the Browns were going to be improved. But the Steelers going to be able to win that division and then. They get it rolling. I did not think this was the year that lay beyond bell was going to go. Oh, yeah. I'll stay out all year. Not just hold out till camp. Not just show up first game nights to shop in season one. I still get a full year's credit for I'll stay home for the entire season. Not the John Connor didn't hold up his ended a bargain filling in for beyond. But I thought he was going to be a major contributor for the Steelers. And I didn't know the drama. It's going to continue with. Antonio Brown as well. Which I don't know, by the way. Did you see the tweet from an Tonio Brown? I guess was late yesterday. Maybe you're earlier today. I tweeted directly to the Pittsburgh faithful in talking about the passion of the Pittsburgh football fan. He did want to make sure that everyone understood that his kind words were not a good by just a thank you to Steeler nation. Love when people do that. They tell you what it's not. When it's exactly what they're trying to say they want to dress. It up is one thing but handled handed off as another. People do this all the time with when they say. With all due respect. You know, what's gonna come immediately after with all due respect someone saying something that they're showing you a lack of respect for every single time. Anytime anybody ever says with all due respect. It means they're about to disrespect you. And that's what this is. It's not a good bye. It's just a thank you still a nation. Oh, he's opening the door for goodbye. He wants to get it on record that he loves Steeler fans before he pushed the envelope in. Pittsburgh pushes him out the door. Antonio Brown is playing somewhere else next year. I we do have a I scorn game. Saints move the ball down the field pass into the end zone. Didn't see a was might have been tight end got his hands on the ball. Arnold coulda pulled it in didn't was defended on the play. But he did get bowl Dan's on a bond couldn't come down with it in the back of the end zone on third down New Orleans has to settle for a will lutts feel but about four minutes into the game. Saints have gone down the field and drawn first blood three nothing New Orleans early in their game against Rams will stay on top of the game for you all day. You want to start to talk about the game yet to be played the chiefs and the patriots. I've got forty five minutes open phones. Here this hour. We'll get a chiefs up guest up from Arrowhead to start our number three. But next forty five. I if there's something that you see in game that reather annoys, you gets under your skin that you can't believe you wanna share it on the air with me. I'll keep you updated. And you don't have to go looking for the score anywhere else. I'd keep on top of the score. And we can also talk about it. Eight five five two one two four two two.

"Get together here on CBS sports radio. Jerry, Mack hanging out with you. Can I thank dick Romeo? Not happen on the show with us today. He's a great guy. Great coach just a good person who I had the pleasure of getting to know during his time down in Philadelphia. I didn't get the belly till after coach Ed finished coaching up. The eagles in got the Super Bowl with them in one thousand nine hundred eighty when I was in college. But I did make it down there in my late twenty s to do sports talk radio and deck was still emeritus. One of Philadelphia's fragrance sports sons and was doing commercials down from media working to like he was on ABC time doing college football analysts work and took a whole bunch years off from coaching between the eagles before he got back in and took over the Rams, and of course, won the championship with them. But I got to know dick during his broadcasting time dime away from decide aligns and it just a class guy. I asked him during the week if he would come on Ethan driving south he's heading down to Florida where this I guess extended family vacation and his phone went out on me didn't charge it enough on the way down yesterday. So when he got to Florida at the time that he was supposed to be on the air it already passed. So he called. Yesterday while I was on the air. And I got my phone sitting next to me charging is a matter of fact, and I hadn't turned down the ringer. So my phone rings while I'm in the midst of doing the show yesterday, and I just turn the volume down and an I missed called decorah meal and within two minutes, he texts me and apologized profusely so sorry phone died. Bubba can I do something for you. Tomorrow size said yet coach if you want to come on board game start will be on roundabout to forty eastern if that's cool and technically back, whatever I can do for your done deal Jodie, and my producer, my engineer here, Billy, Jack and Tommy Di what probably wouldn't guess about dick per meal, and I did I did more texting I didn't speak to him till we got on here. We just exchange text Dixon his eighties. Now, he's always had that youthful. Look dig per meal doesn't look eight years old. He's sure as hell does. And and if you just caught the. Interview. He doesn't found eighty years old either. But he is in his eighties now, and he's like texting fiend. Double check that. I changed the tax last year last night while I still on the air and said can you come to forty? He said, yes. So I sent him attack about an hour before he was supposed to come on you. And I now from now we still good coach you didn't get back to me immediately. That was a little worried when show started but within ten minutes twenty minutes started show, he texts back. His text response was okay. With a yellow thumbs up a glass of wine and a football didn't think dick Ramiro was going to be a big emoji guy. But he had more emojis than the ad letters in his tax. His texts was to letters Owen k and three emojis, thumbs up a little glass of wine and football. So he's getting ready for an afternoon of football. Like, we all are saints Rams are officially underway. I played from scrimmage was an Ingram or Kamara off. Right tack on. That goes Kamara for. Oh, I miss a I play. I play was incomplete. So these saints looking at an early third in one here against the boxers. Sue Donald frontline of the Rams, yes, I'm on the record. I'm taking the Rams to pull the mini upset today. Caught an upset you have to quote an upset because there is a favorite in a game. And that would be the saints by three points. If you believe home field advantage accounts for three points. And that's what Vegas believes it for two teams met on a neutral field. Then you would say there is no home field advantage. And if one or two teams is home how much do you move the line in their favor above and beyond? What would be on a neutral field, and it is usually considered a three point advantage to being home fainter three point favorite at home, which means on a neutral field. They couldn't separate these two teams. They think they're that close in talent and sitting on abilities and momentum and the like both of them coming. Unlock their wins in the divisional championship series last week. That was in part. The reason why I was leaning toward the Rams in his game. Because I was more impressed with their effort against Cowboys last week than I was that of the saints in beating the eagles. They did rally for me early fourteen nothing deficit, and yet a defence shutdown. Eagles completely thereafter eagles did nothing offense over the final three quarters that game. But the Cowboys running game was completely spy made by the Rams last week. And I was impressed by that. So I picked the Rams for those of you who are loyal followers year to the Jody MAC show on CBS sports radio on the weekends. Prior to started the season way back on Labor Day weekend. Yours truly picked the Los Angeles Rams. And the Pittsburgh Steelers to make the Super Bowl that didn't quite happen. Because Steelers did not qualify you need to actually make the postseason to be able to make the Super Bowl. And the Steelers came up short in air division site new at best. I was only getting one of two home. And I'll be completely honest with you the last time I got both teams right to make it to the Super Bowl shoot. I don't even know what Super Bowl number was probably in the high twenties. We're now coming up on fifty three Super Bowl twenty twenty. Look this up for me real fast. TD today. Packers patriots. Homegrown against Parcells ninety four ninety five ninety six season ninety seven Super Bowl. So we're now in two thousand eighteen season two. So it's been thirty years since I got both participants right? Many a time I've gotten one out of two you get one right? And you get the other one wrong altogether. Too often, I've taken an over to collar, and when you go over to and meteoroid teams make the playoffs. That's when you gotta kinda bear your head and Shane I've only had a few of those. Thank you very much. That'd be embarrassing. But I'm not getting both right. This year. It won't be a repeat of thirty plus years ago, and I didn't have the Packers and the patriots this year. A anyway. I wasn't gonna pick. Chalk which I thought was the patriots. I didn't necessarily think the eagles with a truck, and you know, quasi-legal guy doing shows down in Philadelphia. But I didn't know that they were the favorite. I thought the saints were just as much a favorite as the Rams were. So I took an and the Packers always get their fair share picked people thought that Minnesota being in the championship game by adding a Kirk cousins actually made themselves a championship level contender. I thought the Rams were the team to beat in the NFC any AMC pick the patriots. If the Rams were considered the favorite in the NFC. I never take both favorites. You'll never see me do that unless I'm so it's so lopsided. And so heavy ended I'm not afraid to take favorites. But it's kind of cheesy and you shouldn't get a whole ton of credit. If you pick favorites on both sides. So when. Yeah. I knew I was gonna take the Rams who in my mind were the favorites in the NFC, even if they might not have been Vegas favorite. I wanted to take the patriots in the AFC who were the favorites spare side to go searching for a team. I couldn't take Kansas City. 'cause I didn't know what Mahomes was going to be. And again, if you're loyal listener here. I said Mahomes could be anywhere from a bust to a superstar right off the bat because I knew how much talent I knew the skillset we were talking about that. He could just don't call hit the ground running in explode. But I thought that might be severe growing pains as well side couldn't pick the chiefs while they were no growing pains Patrick bombs, and that's why they are in the game today. And that's why they are favorite along with the patriots who should always be a favorite basically every single year until both Brady and Bella check annex themselves from Boston. Pittsburgh was a legit shot. I thought Houston could win their division and they did. But I didn't think they were going to the Super Bowl. I wasn't going to pick against the patriots in east. So I had to have somebody coming out of that division. If I wasn't gonna pick city, and I didn't even pecans took a shot would Denver a lot of people have time to chat charger bandwagon, and Dr charges with a team to come out of the AFC before the year started. I didn't I thought they were a little overrated by the major insiders and NFL pundits before the started native really nice year. They didn't make it to the final four. We know they got beat last week. But I didn't think they were going to the Super Bowl. So the Steelers word the logical team to me. I thought that they'd be tested in that division that the ravens would make a tough form and the Browns were going to be improved. But the Steelers going to be able to win that division. And then they get it rolling. I did not think this was the year that lay beyond bell was gonna go. Oh, yeah. I'll stay out all year. Not just hold out till camp. Not just show up first game. Not just show up in season. One. I still get a full year's credit for I'll stay home for the entire season. Not the John Connor didn't hold up his end of the bargain filling in for Liberian. But I thought he was going to be a major contributor for the Steelers. And I didn't know the drama. It's gonna continue with. Antonio Brown as well. Which I don't know, by the way. Did you see the tweet from an Tonio Brown? I guess was late yesterday. Maybe you're earlier today. I tweeted directly to the Pittsburgh faithful. Love when people do that. They tell you what it's not. When it's exactly what they're trying to say, they want to dress it up as one thing, but handled handed off as another you don't have to go far.

"I Rams and faints to find an NFC champion Wendy chiefs. And the patriots Arrowhead to find out who will be representing the AFC and the Super Bowl. We've got a guest up here guy who's pretty damn familiar with two of these franchises seeing as he coached one of the two teams. They're only Super Bowl championship. I was thinking about getting them on last week when the three teams coach we're all in the elite eight of the National Football League might say I got confidence teams will do. Well, maybe we can hold off till next week. Former coach of the Rams and chiefs an eagles and all time great dick remedial joins us here on CBS sports radio. Coach Jody MAC here in New York. How you doing Jody? I'm doing fine. Thank you. How are you? Very good house two thousand nineteen treat yourself are super couldn't be any better. I'm just getting a little older, but I'm still enjoying life still enjoying life and a an occasional glass of wine. You bet for meal wine that is exact. Right. Coach former coach in Rams and chiefs, I guess your routing designations apparently easy to figure out in today's action. Yes, they are. They're pretty well. Defined haven't assistant coach Peter coaching coaching the secondary for New Orleans was my defensive coordinator at the Rams in my secondary coaches achieve. So I have a little sympathy for him. But I'm still rooting the Rams all away. Understood. And when you won the championship put them Rams Grega show on turf, a key guy for that offense was Marshall block. I see a lot of Marshall Faulk in Todd Gurley. Do you see the comparison of your superstar back with the present day ram superstar back? I do I think so. Yeah, they're both good. Runners a great daylight runners. Allusive at great speed top end speed. You know, I think they're very comparable players whether he will continue to end up in the hall of fame lake marshal Foch did I don't know. But he's going to contend for you can bet that. Yeah. Marceau's kind of set the bar little high. Tied up with him. Abo- would not be surprised now when you went the Rams that was the Saint Louis Rams damn cinch. Move back out to LA town. You're pretty familiar promotion where you spent your years out there coaching the Bruins, and the like how much would a championship in the National Football League meanness to the city of LA. Do you think? Well, I think it would mean a lot to the ram Morgan's ation. You know, I started coaching the Los Angeles Rams in nineteen sixty nine seventy one seventy two seventy three before I went to UCLA head coach in seventy four. So I know the feeling of the crowd, I they can get involved. I think you're a little harder to hang onto year in and year out because you got to win your so many things rampant out there in southern southern California. Can do you know that they can go skiing a couple of hours, then go to the oceans a few minutes. There's a lot of baseball teams play basketball teams play. So they can they can be easily distracted. If you're not winning. But I, you know, stand croppies done a great job with the organization there when they get that new stadium. You know, when they'll still it up that right? And supposedly it's going to be a great stadium as well. I hope you make it out there when the Rams Kristen it may be they'll be two time champions by the time that rolls around. I know you're coaching days with the likes of Roger ward ski and Kurt Warner. You like a thinking man's quarterback. We've got two of the all time greats today in drew Brees. And Tom Brady is one of the two better. When it just comes down to the mental aspect of the game in your mind. You know, I don't think. So I think they're both positive reflections of their coaches their head coaches, you know Brady, and nobody does it any better than those two guys. Not in the history of the league. And it seems like they they have lost anything. They continue to do it. So, you know, Andy Reid with his young guy in drew Brees was Sean my God. But you still have to give the edge to build check overall in in great quarterback combination. Great head coach combination the end results of all those wins. Yeah. They've been there a lot. Andy Reid been there done that went to a super went to a lotta championship games. Sean Payton the same with a win. Bella check with his five new territory for Sean McVeigh, if the coaching called you during the week and said coach how do I best prepare for a championship game? I've never done anything like this before. What would you tell the Kellyanne? The key elements are getting a team writer. For a championship Sunday. Well, I don't forget how you got there. You know, you must've done a pretty good job all year long. Don't don't all of a sudden move off your plan in your frozen your preparation? I think I challenge your players a little bit. I think I'd say what guy in this room is played their best game. You know, not one of them would stand up and say he did. So he's all right. It's time for it. Played the best game you're gonna go on from here. He's one guy each one of us collectively have to play the blessed. Best game of your career. You do that. We'll win the football game, dick Romeo. Joining us here on CBS sports radio. Coach the fact that these poor teams have played each other during the year patriots beat the chiefs in Foxborough last second field goal. Saints beat the Rams in in New Orleans where they play today that can be both a plus and a minus. I'm sure you had rematch is from postseason regular season where your team had one earlier in the year had lost earlier in the year. How do you play it both ways? If you got the victory earlier, do you just double down and do a lot of the same stuff or do you have to change things up because yet work, but might not work a second time, if you lost how much can you learn from it how much does the fact that both of these two teams played each other before factor into today's game. Well, I you've had a great opportunity to study the individual physical match-ups, you know, football is a combat sport. Okay. It's not a contact sport a combat sport. And you've had the opportunity to watch your players in combat with the opponent. And. And I think that gives you an opportunity, you know, equal to both sides. But give you an opportunity say where the strength was the weakest was what you didn't debate dissipate. The first time you've played that mistakes, you made that might have made a difference in the first first time you've played in it gives you time and the guy that makes the best adjustments. And I think assimilates most of the positive things a little bit better than the opponent probably gonna win the football game. And the other thing is the guy that plays a smart team. That takes the ball away doesn't give it away. How much is home field advantage meaning a game? Like this for the saints in chief? I think it's big I think it's big normally say the gambler say what three point three point something points. Right. I think when you go to New Orleans just probably a five point advantage Kansas City. I think is probably a five point advantage as well. It's Kansas City is like playing the dome when you're fired up. It is allowed loud crowds gonna be cold. But you know, New England. Used to the cold too. So I don't think I I think the home field advantage is going to be big for both teams fair enough. Dick camellias on CBS sports radio. I coach you get to the championship game. Balkanise all these teams have outstanding seasons and earned their way. Here they had to do a lot right to get where they're at in this big game. Do you need an ace up your sleeve d need a trick? Play. Is this the week where have you been saving? It. You've been thinking about it didn't midseason and Sean Payton rolled out the court down fake punt last week, which he made work with a backup to QB Jack of all trades guy. Mr. hill is this the kind of game where you're going to show off the thing you've been holding onto or are the states just too big to take a chance with a play like that. No. I think each team will come up with something. They haven't done the other thing. I think this kind of game. There's one your big star player has to come up with a big star play. All right for me and the Super Bowl member Bruce and the second half catching the big win for the touchdown. Okay. Someone has to come up with the big play. Biggest you're going to harm a hard time winning four yards at a time in this game. You're someone's going to have to get all of a sudden, boom, they get the big score or the big interceptions. The big fumble pickup or the good. Kick return. You know, I think that could be the decider coach eight to do this to you. But way back when that Brady guy one is first Super Bowl against the Saint Louis Rams coach by dick per meal. And low these many years later there's the possibility next week that it's the patriots Rams again if the patriots find a way to win Brady gets his six ballot. Check gets his sixth any chance Brady says well, I've come full circle. I beat the ram started. I'll beat the Rams Dan did and he walks away from the game. I don't believe. So. Ready for what he says, you know, I don't think he's an impulsive conversation guy. I think he says things that really define what he thinks over long periods of time. And I think he wins or loses you'll be back playing next year you, and I agree on that one. I just ask him that. It'll be fun. All right. You call the NFL a combat sport, which I love that word, which I agree with, but it's less combat than it used to be. They've changed the world certainly from when you first came into the league, even when you on your championship with the Rams they seem to kings the rules for the protection of the players or they want one more offense. Only those guys at Park Avenue for sure why they do what they do is the game as good as it used to be. Is it better? Is it just different? How has the game changed for a guy? Like you over the last twenty five thirty years. Well, I think it's more explosive. It's more explosive. The wide receivers are allowed your for your downfield. Now, you're protected you. Don't see safeties launching and going through the air and knocking the helmet off a wide receiver catching the ball. Therefore, there are more receivers making great pass we and today than at any time in the history of the game. Everybody every game at somebody making unbelievable catch that ten years ago. You didn't see anybody make it, you know? And I it's just a remarkable. I think that's the biggest improvement in the game is the receiver catching the ball. When he's covered. Busy isn't gonna cut the living. Hell mocked out of it. You're gonna get spirit hitting getting broken in half. But he's gonna get tackled and knocked down. Yes. But I think that is opened up the passing game. It's freed up the mind and the wine was wide receiver going across the middle catching the ball. Not looking all over for the guy who's been knocking his helmet off. You know? So I think that has opened up the scoring in the game and the movement of the ball, and it's made it a little more exciting for the fans of the TV ratings up is it better not too. Sure, we just we don't want it to become show business. Exactly. Yeah. I was going to ask you has the lessened physicality. It certainly lends itself to more scoring and more exciting plays in the light. But you, and I I'm a couple years younger than you. But you and I both obscene football for a long time. It's just not saying game. We grew up on. No, it's not, you know, pass rushers are very hesitant. When they get close to the quarterback. Am am I free to go ahead and hit him? I can't launch. I can't put my helmet down. I can't put my arm up and try to block and because I might the helmet all these different things. You know, changed games in one call in a game today. One call. That could be made today that wouldn't have been called a few years ago can change the outcome of the football Kenya. It's happened in the playoffs already. So all that. You know, I just have I I just think we gotta be careful to give the officials too many things to call, you know, and the game is moves so fast and other thing is, you know, they don't fight in the small ring anymore. They're spread all over the field. You know with four receivers and all this kind of stuff. No back in the village spread all over, and you give the officials so many things that call every once in a while it makes a mistake cost. Somebody a football game. All right. If these the saints in pats come up short, the Rams and the chiefs win and a call comes from an executive and owner of one of those two teams and say coach we'd love to have you with for the Super Bowl any chance you go to Atlanta two weeks from now. No, I'm not planning on it. And I'm going to be on vacation with my two brothers in Key West Florida time when we planned for a long time, and they have to fly fly in one from the west coast one from Cincinnati. So I can't bury a walk out on. All right. I'll be I'll be watching it from key west. He's a loyal employee. But he's a better, brother. Sorry. We got family plans. I can't be making it to the Super Bowl. Why am I not surprised coach great catching up with the and your your time down in Florida and joined the games today? And I'm on the Keith and the patriots. I'll be rooting with you. But take care. Bye. Bye. Bye. Thank god. That is dick from meal here with us. I think said chiefs in patriots chiefs and Rams the two teams that coach for.

"Jody max show already in progress. Here's Judy match. Stupor Ono championship Sunday Super Bowl Sunday is in for another couple of weeks down the road. Don't get you had to yourself. Although I do believe I know who's going to be playing some two weeks from now. And that's the Rams and the chiefs those are my tax be just wrong. We'll all know some ten hours from now eight hours hour long. It's gonna take for the games to finish up today. And I did note this again. Yeah. I'm not ferrall who lives sleeps eats and breathes betting. And when you've got a podcast called for and abets, you better be that good. And he is but I follow it, and I pay attention to it. And I actually do have some action because Friday, I was at a wagering spot in Pennsylvania. They just got facial legalized sports gambling in Pennsylvania as well. I was at the south Philly Turf Club, which is an off track site for Parx casino, which has the track park racing track attached to it. Nine. Yeah. I put in a fourteen parlay for today's action. And I took the Rams plus the three and a half. I took the chiefs lay in three and a half, even though both of those lines are down took three. They didn't have any. Plame parlays AM one to have any pushes. So they made all the lines at half points. So I went giving three and a half with the chiefs taking three and a half with the Rams any under all whereas we're both as they still are today fifty six and a half on both games. And when these two teams played both of these two teams in both AMC and AMC played earlier this year saints and Rams combined for eighty patriots and chiefs combined for eighty three the under over on both games at fifty-six AM. I don't know. We'll get eighty and eighty three again. But I think we'll get more than fifty six happen both games. So I've got over in both the saints Rams and the patriots and the chiefs good luck. Selection. You wanna talk about the games do sell you want to get into it. Now because we got a extra added guest coming up in about fifteen minutes. "Hung out for. The last three hours and twenty minutes. What are you doing with your life? Thanks for hanging out at Martin. Going until six o'clock. I if you'd like this guess what we're doing it again. In less than twenty four hours. We start up again at two AM another Marta Chee Kelly extravaganza. Joe in merchantville ninety four WIP good morning. Good morning. Joe? How are you? Good. Good. I mentioned I wanted to talk about the eagles. But I just want to talk about the the the okay the play offs. So I'm like you. I'm gonna win the whole thing. I I think the saints are probably the best team west of four. Yeah. But what I'm rooting? I'm running for Freddie, and I can't for the life of me figure out why there are people who who are have such Benham against him. Make any sense. Why wouldn't you at this point because we got ours? I mean, we we got our one hopefully, we're going to get more. But the guy the guy who brought us are one Andy is Andy is basically directly responsible for because it started it started with MBA and his quarterback here and even before that in Green Bay, and he gave them gave them a shot at a starting job. And then later gave him a shot again is an assistant coach, right? And and and and it's a good football for. I mean, he's there for fourteen years yet. It was ten or twelve of those years were pretty darn. We're pretty darn good. We're pretty darned good where where you expected them, you know, at at worst to be a playoff to win the division and pretty much be a playoff team almost every year. Yes. That was pretty much the expectation around here. So you're right. You didn't win. He didn't win the big one that I guess people get all annoyed about that. But you know, I wonder if those same people. Hated dick Romeo. I doubt it. No, probably probably you wouldn't think. So. Yeah. I I remember being pretty I I mean, I was a lot younger, but I remember being being pretty happy for dick for meal when when when he ended up winning I mean. And then when you add the whole personal tragedy went through wouldn't you'll pull for the guy. That's I mean, that's and that's above everything. Joe? That's that's the thing. And I mentioned this before I don't know how long you been listening but me being a new dad in the last year. I think it's it's been in a just like like anybody who's who's become a first time parent. It's it's an eye opening experience. Yeah. Just just what it's like, you know, and the things you worry about like, I can I can remember my parents growing up being you know, what time you coming home. And you know, where are you going to be in? You're like, why are you like you're nuts? You're paranoid. What are you doing? And now like I find myself middle of the night walking into my daughter's room and like three o'clock in the morning to make sure she's breathing. Out of my mind. I've become my father. We have all I've got a twenty two year old that eighteen year old. But guess what? It it. Never it. Never changed. Yeah. Exactly. Right. My parents have told me that for years, you're gonna worry like we do when when even when you. Yeah. That's right. You want them to be happy? You wanna say, absolutely? What are you got in the Uber? I drive okay. On the weekends. And. Listening to the lady a little while ago about lift where she said Africa Heffer clients, just awful. And I I you know, I've done probably a thousand perhaps over over the time. But I I really haven't had bad, folks. Yeah. Go ahead. Y'all gone. I mean people I mean, maybe some thin-skinned. Yeah. If language upset you well, then maybe. Generally, speaking still see late at night, you're getting people, and yeah, he drank too much. But that's why you're out there doing it. Yeah. It's part of the comedy. Yeah. It is kinda funny. But here's here's a story that it didn't happen to me. But it was told to me by by a woman. She said tell me your tell me your best over story, right? Told her story, and she came back to me and said, all right? Well, I got a buddy of mine, he drives drives over and he goes one day to fix up pretty drunk, and he goes, you know, she they're quiet. They're not talking to each other. He's just driving all of a sudden he feels something right back up again. Side of his head looks down. It was her underwear. He looked back. She's completely naked. Oh my goodness. And he's he's like, oh my gosh. He's like, I'm married. I have kids. What did I what did I get myself into? Did I? Plan on get myself into it. Right. Exactly. Like what what are you doing your? Why are you doing this? I guess they argue back and forth. And he said, listen, I can't throw you off. You have to put your clothes on this at the at the least this is going to hurt my rating. Joe enjoy the games mad. Appreciate the call. Legit. Yeah. Go ahead of it. Okay. Two days later. He gets a notice for movers saying he's he is suspended because she filed a harassment said, oh my. Oh my goodness. He had a dash Cam. Here's what really happened. Yeah. Oh, oh. By the way. This is what I was dealing with. Thanks, john. Take care. All right. Dash saves. It ends up saving the day. Man. See I knew there would be some good stories especially late at night. Yeah. I drove I drove for the better part of two weeks. And it was cool. Like, i'm. Generally. I'm the youngest on the youngest of three boys all of us are a little bit different. My oldest brother rather than for the most part interact with new people. I would just assume, you know, sit home in the comfort of his basement never never have to meet anybody new like ever again. My middle brother is in sales in same deal. Like just doesn't love people. I like generally like people, and I found that I did in two weeks. Like, I don't know. I probably had in the two weeks maybe like thirty thirty or so rides because I didn't really do it that much. But the only one where I was ever like, oh, this this is kind of creepy. I live in south jersey in Gloucester county and in my hometown. There's there's like a there's a building down the road where people essentially go to to get things straightened out like with court. Actually, I think it's where they go a lot of the time to post to post bond post bail. I think if they end up by in the in trouble or arrested in town where my wife, and I live. So I ended up picking up some guy who was like. Yeah. Like it. You know? Don't worry about it. But I just I just got out of jail. Oh, okay. But man, no now, it's cool. It's cool. Man. I was just like I hadn't paid my child support. My my accent up calling me out on. Okay. But like the whole time like then like, I honestly, I think if I had like a record or via done something, and I was about to get into a into a car driven by a complete stranger in order to you know. Kind of lighten the mood and make things comfortable that wouldn't have been the first thing that I was did you realize you were picking them up straight out of jail. No, I know it. Well, that's that's the problem. Not me too. Because like what you do Dr. You know, once you could you you don't really see where you're picking up the person until you hit accept, and that's what's scary about it. Because there there was like there was one instance. Where I ended up picking somebody up in the middle of Camden. And you know, not for anything. It wasn't the easiest part of town that I was necessarily driving through at the moment. Where you're looking over your shoulder a little bit. And you know, that that was like the the one instance where I was ever like really scared where I didn't know where I was picking somebody up and where I was taking them. And then like after that after that happened like the first time like I became a kind of like a try to be a little more cautious. And like there's really no way to tell though. So there's really no way to screen like what you were picking opera where you are picking people up. But that was like the only time that that. And then the guy who told me like, yeah. Just just got out of jail. But no, no, no, it's cool. It's just Chelsea support, man. Okay. All right, good. We're we're good now. And it ended up being fine. We're fine. We have a nice conversation. Actually, I think we talked about talked about marriage. Who better to give advice? Exactly, I didn't pay my ex child support by the way, don't get married. I was like married two years. I I like my wife. Marriage for four and a little girl and still like my wife. I love my wife. One little girl. Probably probably honestly, eventually they'll be they'll be talk of number two. But for now once good. I'm lucky though, like we're really really blessed in that my daughter because like clockwork like put her down at like seven thirty up at like six thirty the next morning. It's really really really easy. It only took about about a month.

"Planet. That's a tally billionaire, Bob. On the last. I look you're still a member of the planet earth. It's one of my top favorite planet. I sent you a text message earlier pointing out Chris Davis's remarkable to forty seven batting average four straight years. And what do you do you send his program is pro baseball reference taback me, and I felt like I already know this. No, I knew it when we wanted to find out if anyone else had ever remotely done anything like that. And boop did is work. Mookie Wilson to seventy six three straight years. That's pretty damn good. How did you find that one out the five thirty eight dot com website, which is the all numbers and suing thing up in New York that does mostly Stockton stuff. They dabble in a lot of sports, and they had written about Chris Davis earlier in the year and mentioned Mookie Wilson. So I've found that story within a minute. Breeze through it saw the milky whiff Mookie real Wilson reference. You style you go to Twitter and search Chris Davis. You'll find that story very easily and speaking of shorter you should follow boop on Twitter at boop stats B, O P as in Paul boop stats, and this whole world is tach will be sent to you free of charge to Bob can figure out a way to charge you. He's working on it as we speak. What he got tonight is to return a bunch of things just like you said Chris Davis something they'd never been done before. As a couple of things that happened this week that never been done before. Big daddy Brockhall. The Red Sox Monday had a cycle the first cycle and major league baseball postseason history. There have been fifteen hundred sixty three postseason games again fifteen hundred and sixty three. Wow. And he is the only one to ever hit for a cycle. You know, the way mine work. My mind works is I wondered if any Phillies never gotten close in postseason games. And we found two Phillies that missed it by one home run Jay Johnstone in game three of the nineteen seventy six and LCS against the reds and Milt Thompson in the seventeen fourteen or whatever that World Series loss to the Blue Jays was in ninety three. They both missed a postseason cycle by only a home run, which is odd because it's usually the triple that's the harder one to get correct. Guess it is, you know, mill his double triple L as I hit in that World Series game and actually came to the plate in the eighth with a chance to Homer and it for the cycle, but I believe he grounded out. So, you know. Yeah. Also on Monday, big daddy, the Atlanta Braves, and you have to listen to the wording of this carefully. Okay. The Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Indians were both eliminated on Monday from postseason play. They both lost their series on that seem might Monday night to Washington, we add this last night joke. And I can add one go ahead. The Blackhawks lost. There you go. And there's another I think there's another team in the mix. Okay. In American Indian a reference chiefs one. They did. I thought there was one more. But maybe not a good job. Good job. You see you? You beat me to that one. So there you go. I can't take credit for it or call a call with it. Yeah. That's somebody mentioned it to me on Facebook. So I certainly wanted to pass it along. It was interesting to me the flyers hold on hold on, by the way that that caller. You might want to look into this is nickname is boob stats real. And just saying, Bobby. There's people trying to rip you all found there. Why would I want to look into boobs? Why wouldn't you want to look before big daddy did two things night one of which they they put in their post game notes and one and what I found on my own are they allowed eight goals tonight. It was the most goals they've ever allowed in a home opener. And that's they put that in their notes. And that's how we know that. But they've also allowed eight goals in a game for the fifty ninth time in their history regular season and playoffs and in none of the previous fifty eight times. Have they allowed eight gate goals to a team that had been shut out the previous game the sharks for Monday afternoon in the islanders and came in here and scored eight goals. No other team had scored that many goals against the flyers coming off a shutout. You would think they'd be chomping at the bit at the being shot at and maybe would well now eight Kohl's is asking a lot and four like in the first seventeen seconds or something. It was just I I sat down to watch TV at my wife, and I looked at the score not even knowing if the game it started yet. And it was tuned offing that was two nights in a row that happened to me. It was like three one Red Sox on Monday night. And then I turn my head for a minute and looked back up, and it was twelve to one tonight the flyers. Yeah. A restaurant called quick water. And it was I I don't know what the two one three nothing whenever when I looked up. And then I looked up again. There was seven hanging up there. Red Sox was scoring every commercial when I looked at that one over there. So couple eagles things big daddy. They have yet to score twenty four points in game. Their high for the year is twenty three Shadley is fifty two years of Super Bowl play. No team has ever reached the Super Bowl without cracking twenty four points at least once in their first five games. All right. I give up. How do you find that one? That was a very simple process on pro football reference dot com. You simply go through their little play index searching for the teams with the most games under twenty three points in the first five games of a season, and you can use as one of your filters played in the Super Bowl talking about return on what's amazing about all this. He can't work his GPS. Spell it. Also big daddy. The you know eagles team has ever made the playoffs after having failed to crack twenty four points in the first five games of. Achieve aren't even more. I wouldn't have thought that I really wouldn't have the only team that ever went through entire sixteen game season without scoring twenty four points. And reaching the playoffs was the nineteen seventy eight Atlanta Falcons big daddy. Nine thousand nine hundred seventy eight hundred they beat the eagles in college. Oh game. Dan did a year with goal? Field goal by the guy by the non field goal kicker. Correct. Yes. Dick Romeo coach at team. Isn't he? Yes. He is. Nick Nick gets hurt during the year. He doesn't replace him. He uses the punter Mike, Michelle. And it just did not work. You know, he missed an extra point early in the game. And then Mr. field goal at the end and. It is just one of hundreds of sad losses in Philadelphia. Sports lure that. We forget to remember too. Well. I have a question for you. Big data might be able to help me with just something that popped into my head in the last twenty five minutes. Lynn Bill Joseph returned the fumble. The key fumble for sixty four yards for a touchdown by the Vikings on Sunday. And by the way, there's been a return touchdown six of the last eight Vikings eagles games, but limbo Joseph's three hundred twenty nine pounds. I think he might be the heaviest player ever to score a touchdown against the eagles three hundred and twenty nine pounds. Yeah. I looked at some, you know, all the return touchdowns against them in the last thirty years, and none of the guys that I could see were quite that big. So should ever scaling hands-on just for those moments like the truck stops along the turnpike. You cannot enter this end zone. If you're this bigger this heavy how not how old? How old again how how he is the free. Twenty nine pounds. But he did not score a touchdown against the eagles. But when I when I went to check dot com and search for TD scores over three hundred and twenty nine pounds. He came up. But then I went and checked touchdowns and they were not against eagles. I believe you had to in a regular season. And you had the one in the Super Bowl. Yes. He did where which infuriated Walter Payton Vance if I remember. Yeah. Absolutely. I I get that. Yes. So I'm not going to the fridge now. He's wait. Let's see three fifty that must've been after breakfast. One quick eagles. Good note before I get to my my Tennessee cheese. Noted the week. The eagles are seven and two all time at MetLife stadium big daddy. That's pretty good. Yeah. One win against the jets and six and two against the giants. You know? So it's this week. Which is I know is short is also a little frustrating like to have a little bit of, you know, something bright there for for the green and white Leslie drew Brees broke the all time passing yardage record on Monday. And I've been putting up the progression of that record quite a bit over the last month from when Sammy ball broke to ten thousand yard market nineteen forty five swinging Sammy ball. Yeah. Lincoln Sammy ball through the Y A and Bobby Lane's and Fran Torkington analogy. Drew Brees breezes the tenth guy on that list. So people wanted to know who the next guy to might do it could be I looked at two guys. And if Carson Wentz for instance, keeps up his average passing yards per game. As it is right now. And never misses the game. He would pass breezes current turtle in game six of the twenty thirty four season. Meanwhile, all the cheese, Patrick Mahomes. If he keeps up his two hundred ninety nine point five average again without getting injured he would pass breezes. Current total game sixteen of twenty thirty two. And now in you, you'll be in front of your television and could your Cheech fan. Yeah. And I'll probably still be watching Andy Reid coach somewhere. Maybe. Good stuff as always follow. Bob on Twitter at boop stats at spe-, O P. Boop stats you won't regret. It. It's a great. Great follow. And I always enjoy having you on the show. My man as I do with you. You have yourself a good day. We're going to take oh gosh is on I ninety four w and there was a good spot. Last time. I talked to the one thing I didn't touch on was you know, the quarterback controversy about touching him killed a quarterback controversy. One thing they can do is just let the offensive lineman hold. I mean, really I mean, it just it just, you know, treat them like we use them for what they are the praetorian guard. They're allowed to hold on the quarterback gets often three seconds, and you wouldn't have many defensive lineman sacking the quarterback. Now, why maybe some people would think wait a minute. Offensive lineman allow no hold. I would have to really investigate that before. I give you a yes or no it, but there is nothing more infuriating. Then owning call particularly when you're told since I was five years old. Did it? They wanted to could call holding on every single play. Exactly now, I would not let running backs who are assigned to pick up blitzes. Do it. I would not let them do it. Because then I the one way you could still sack a quarterback would be with blitzes where you know, the offense align just there was just too many guys coming coming towards the pocket, and they just couldn't pick up. All the all the guys. Let me get what you're saying. Here. You're saying you're allowed. Offensive lineman a whole, but it that defensive linemen gets passed him. Then he's allowed the Hammond a quarterback as hard as he wants defensive lineman but running backs, you know, people that are given the job of picking up as they went. I didn't explain right. Your defensive lineman. You're saying Athens alarming are now allowed old. Yeah. Okay..

"Thank you for that. Not in front of your TV watching Monday night football, a couple of things bombs at just pulled up here. They're down three driving get it into Bronco territory. He's got a tough third down conversion gets forced out of the pocket is sprinting to his left. So he's the right handed quarterback. So he's going to have to throw across his body. Just about to be taken down as he gets close to decide line switches the ball to his left hand throws about an eight yard strike to an open receiver. Who turns it up fielding just about gets the first down as third Nate somewhere. Thereabouts. Made a helluva play going to the left switching hands and throw in a strike. The following a set of downs and nothing I'm I down penalty on second penalty on third down facing second and thirty second and dirty twenty three yard completion gets into third and seven makeable down and takes another shot at the kid goes to complete play. Then he throws the ball downfield got a wide open wide receiver hits imperfectly in stride halibut catch by wide receiver. He actually falls even though he's behind the defense. It'd be it'd been able to keep his feet. He would've got into the end zone. Instead he goes out of bounds at about. I guess it was the eight yard line. Kansas City has it. First and goal inside the ten first play from scrimmage, look like a Bronco guy jumped he connects with Kelsey in the end zone. Kelsey makes the catch. It comes down out of bounds. And got crushed on the play. He's right now on the field recovering. He's down and out. He did hold onto the football made alva- catch they correctly called it a nine catch because he didn't he didn't get his feet down in the end zone. Hard hit by the Broncos secondary person. Kelsey got up mood and then went back down to the ground again. But there's been an unbelievable drive-by Mahomes. First and go from the five because the play was ruled offside Bronco jumped got back. They got a free play out of it. Kelsey almost scored a touchdown. But it was worried because he was out of bounds. But the Broncos the chiefs are in position to at least tie with a field goal. Touchdown would put them ahead under two minutes to play. So we've got a good one going on Monday night football any other NFL stuff. You want to bring to the table. Open phones recipe. Our eight five five two one two four two two seven. I appreciate Mark. From south Philly hanging tough. With me, Mark, you're on CBS sports radio. Back man. How you be good, man. Great. So go to kind of pick you back off of what the guy from Bleacher report was discussing. I think it's very invoked right now that Jon Gruden eight and it's it's tiny strange. Was this raiders offense is only second to the Rams in point yards gained on offense this year? They've they've broken all types of franchise records on offense in the first four weeks. They just put up forty five on the Browns who had it lit up within twenty one all year, and they played some good teams. You know, there's a lot of new pieces with the raiders, it's a complex system. It takes some time to get used to it. It's no surprise to me that they're off to a slow start. But maybe that's the type of team that kind of comes out of nowhere and makes a run. Okay. But what say it's a complex system. That's doing well on offense the explanation on defense. Sons Khalil Mack. And that's what you just talked about what this Monday night game. Here comes Patrick Mahomes bringing his team down the field to win the game. Who's the Broncos highest paid player? Von Miller is he making the play this game. You know, they don't have the big franchise quarterback. They're paying like a franchise quarterback. Is he gonna win this game for them? No they needed another touchdown to win this game. They didn't have the firepower to get it. Not going to close this thing out. There you go touchdown cheese. Understood. And yes, it's a quarterback's league. I get that. But the bottom line is rate is the one in three right? And if there were a couple of calls that had gone correctly. I think Carlos Hyde spot call was just ridiculously bad for them to give them the first down then overturned after watching the videotape replay made no sense to me whatsoever. Now, I wasn't on the field. I didn't have the I level. Look, you are certainly cast to whatever camera angle. You get looked at me like the guy obviously out of first down at the key calling a game that went against the Browns. They could have won that game Chuckie could be on four. So you can give me the stats. All you want about the offense. They're one and three and they could have been on four, and they could have been excuse me to and to also they lost on time expiring field goal to the Broncos in Denver and the wheels kind of fell off down in Miami. But they weren't winning that game to last week. Right. They don't yesterday was the first time they finished well all year that they had the chance late and made the most of it. And I I'm a Chucky guy, I like Gruden I've always been a Gruden guy. Some of his broadcast stuff was a little over the top for me. But does a very good assistant coach Jim head coach you can never take the Super Bowl win off his resume. I root for guys like dick Romeo who left for a long time. And then came back. Maybe it's the old head thing. I got going, but I would like to see Chucky do well, but I think he made a boneheaded trade and don't kid yourself. He was the driving force behind it when they gave up Khalil Mack. You say you can't pay a defensive player that kind of money. All it hasn't kept the bears from going three and one so far. So pay Khalil Mack. All that money hasn't deterred them. It's a long season the raiders could turn out to be much better. You may be right. The bears could go backwards. I may be proven wrong. But right now the team that acquired a Khalil Mack is playing above. What was expected of them at three and one and the team that gave up on Khalil Mack is doing less than was expected at one and three we in co the stats and get sabermetrics and analyze the numbers. All we want the most important numbers ws house and one teams at first place three one the others in last place wasn't three at the ramp sitting at four no paying are Donald like that. True. Now, I think the Rams general manager has done a phenomenal job at some point the chickens are gonna come home to roost when they have to pay Goff. And by the way, Goth is a franchise quarterback the showdown between he and cousins on Thursday night was just phenomenal up and down. If you up and down and up and down and up and down and touchdown pass after touchdown pass. If you listen to me on the weekends here on CBS sports radio. Goth guy. Some people said didn't deserve to be the first pick in a draft. I got that one. Right. I said Goth went went scoff. I gotta take one I picked you can't wait. You gotta pick your guy, and I would have picked Goth and whence developed quicken. And God he was in a better offense would better weapons around him. They turned it over to him right way Goffin again, right away. And under Jeff Fisher, they weren't really good offensive team. So they were reasons after the fact that you could explain some golf struggles. But I liked the kid and he's going to be a franchise quarterback right now, they're taking advantage of the fact that they've got their quarterback on a rookie deal. And he's playing like a franchise quarterback this quickly into his career. When you have that in place, you can spend some money you can go all out to bring in big pieces and pay them big money in other spots at some point. They're going to have to pay it off. And then they're going to have to get creative. And or cut some guy. Is not going to be easy. But there's no question. The Rams are all in. And I thought was an undecided story, and I forget who reported it might have been Schefter somebody. They were real close to getting Khalil Mack. They still had the salary cap room that they thought they could get it done and get him at now that could guarantee that the team's gonna come apart next year because. They just would be so cap strapped after that. But they thought they could cut and structure a deal to get MAC added to that defense, man. The Rams are undefeated think of them if they had Khalil Mack, Dan from Dan bills up on CBS sports radio Danamon, Johnny Mack. What's happening now? UB McMahon up doing really, well, you know, that raider call I hear that living in raider country. All the time down at the local tavern that the raiders could not possibly afford, a car and and Khalil Mack. Which is a ridiculous statement. He's a once in a lifetime player, and they should have signed him. Agreed. No, no doubt mind that if you just assume that would would've taken the same money from the raiders that he took from the Rams, the raiders absolutely could have made that deal work. They chose not to make thought that that was too much to play pay a defensive player when you're the best defensive player in the national police, not too much pain. No, you're absolutely right. Reggie McKenzie at home what he dropped back and Gruden from. What I remember? He doesn't do very well no valuated didn't do very well in Tampa Bay. I think he won that Super Bowl with a lot of these players. So if if Gruden Kannada homerun defensive pick me up come future drafts good for him. Amac, man. I got the game on them listening to you too. And you're right that Patrick Mahomes these each phenomenal that pass he may with his other arm, but he's got the arm. I think of Dan Marino and the mobility of Russell Wilson, which is a deadly combination. This kid can throw on the run. Yeah. Phenomenal the guy that I see here. Most everybody loves a comp every sports fan on the face of the plant. They want to compare someone that they don't yet know yet hasn't proven again is just starting out in their career yet. Well, Losey like the guy looks most like to me is Aaron Rodgers because Rogers has got that same ability to just jacket off his shoulder and throw laser darts with a ton of accuracy. But when need be turn it up and make plays with his legs, damn Rogers. You wouldn't call a running quarterback. But if he has to he can run, and I think homes going to be the same type of quarterback. You don't want Mahomes taken off seven eight times a game. You only want him doing at once or twice, but do just the right times. And when he does he's got the ability to report fifteen twenty yards. So the guy who reminds me most. And this is a pretty damn good complement is at Rogers, no, positively and I got a question for you. I'm looking noticing all these rookie quarterbacks that are starting. Donald Mayfield Rosen Allen on not saying these guys are not capable. I'm not saying these guys are gonna have great NFL careers. I am saying they are benefited by the way, the deep are being a little constricted nowadays. And my question to you is do you think these ball players could have started Ben starters in the nineteen eighties? I know you don't want to compare errors..

"Freddie, Coleman may when the raiders are relevant. It's awesome. Quick update. Raiders RAMSAR our right now. Raiders lead. Ten to seven is the Rams were going for a tying field goal. He missed it wide or right and a certain college football teams or college football is just better. When the blue bloods are rolling like Alabama. We need Texas back. Just just because it's Texas Alabama was down. It's not as good Notre Dame. Brian Kelly scare against ball state on Saturday. Right. Twenty four sixteen but you going where the when the blue bloods are good Georgia being back on the Kirby. Smart, right? Oklahoma where you know? It's it's football. Just back college football, just better. Right. When the raiders are good. The NFL is just better because raider fans, well love or hate him. They're raider fans and to watch them rejoicing right in that hit. The black hole at I'll never go into man. It's it's it's week one. And because Gruden is back Chuck, he's back Meiring. It's like this is a Super Bowl. I wish they were staying there. I mean, I gotta say you don't understand Vegas. I understand the move and everything attached to it. But man, there is nothing like writer Spain's. You said, you know, love me hate them. They'll fight you the way, you know. Fight each other. They'll they'll fight each other like they're gonna fight somebody before the night's over. And they're just so energize integrating for a revitalization. If you will for Jon Gruden to bring this team back, man. I love those fans are great. You don't even have to say something about your mama's? Right. I mean, look at the wrong way. Go. No, no matter. What right. It's on game on ten seven right now raiders lead against the Rams at home on the second game of Monday night football Jetta, the lines forty eight seventeen in game one now to college football, man. The overreaction we get every single week to college football is remarkable like. An NFL season you break down into quarters and coach's coaching staffs do that with our players. You know, it's it's four green four-game increments. You know where you want to win each quarter? And if you do that and get a pretty damn good shot at making the postseason normally if you win each quarter. Well, in college football, it's every single week and having served on the college football playoff committees. Mock committee law two years ago was the last season they all run together. Myron. You know, we games played now in one now like take Georgia, South Carolina. For instance, that game is going to be looked upon as a top twenty five win by Georgia and would be viewed favorably by the committee because games that are played. Now, it's about when you play the opponent. When were they ranked because quarterbacks get hurt, whomever. Maybe can may get hurt right later on Bayview at at the time. You played the team were they in the top twenty five where were you? How did you perform that game by Georgia? Davis mantle South Carolina is going to be viewed as in Wade as heavily equally as a game that is one in November against the top twenty five opponent. So when you look at games played this weekend to me, the most impressive win was by the Georgia BULLDOGS. Yeah. I think it's fair to say you do a lot of college football. I'm a huge fan. I do some coverage is what most impressive win of the year. So far, I mean most dominant win against a really good team on the road. I know Alabama's done some great things. Ohio states done some great things. They haven't played a team like, South Carolina. And even the other teams within the top ten had some great moments, but they haven't had a dominant display to put up forty one points on the road on South Carolina. And then the hold them to seventeen. It's back to me in the half players disappointed by that date from to me is is climbing up the Heisman race I in that race in the charts. Forties. He's proven that. Hey last year was a great year for me and this team, but he's out of next level. And he can lead these guys to the championship. You lose a couple of running backs like Chubb most people don't come back from that shove two guys in the top thirty five in the draft may and they had three bags score touchdowns and swift Holyfield and Harian and he got James Cook back rolling rolling. It's it's remarkable another impressive performance. We talked about earlier as well. Stanford over USC Lance Anderson defensive coordinator for the Stanford cardinal his guys on that side of the ball or hunting against USC and K J Costello you'd better defend him. Because they not only can they towed it with Bryce love who had more yards rushing. After I drive then he did all of last week, you better respect Caja Costello as well. Because they can Chuck it. Impressive win. By the Stanford cardinal over SE battle top twenty teams ten b seventeen. And then I this is my favorite. This is my favorite one of the weekend. And it hurt me because if you don't know about Michigan state in Mark dantonio news relationship, and what he's done for my daughter Rowena, just go Google Mark dantonio enrolling Fitzsimmons. And you'd better have some tissue ready because he is he's a better person and a head coach and he's a remarkable head coach. So this one hurt, but at least we had a friend coaching the other staff so it didn't hurt as badly. My daughter ruined. And give a bleep. I mean, she was hacked off when she woke up and saw the score sixteen thirteen Arizona state over Michigan state. Herm Edwards is one of our best friends. He's a dear friend, and he swore to me. He's got the team in the state and two games in who would have thought that right? Herm Edwards will be here with us coming up on Wednesday right here on on Freddie and Fitz Simons, and and a lot of people right now early on. Oh that dude in Arizona state.
