"Off of a plane flying just low enough that the ice wouldn't melt on its way down. For it to happen six times there have been six leaking low flying planes in August nineteen ninety-four. Each of those would miraculously have blue eyes plummet all the way to Earth without melting. That sounds pretty unlikely. This theory also doesn't explain why. The blobs only fell during rainstorms. If they came from planes. They'd come down rain or shine. According to Dick Mayer, it was absolutely impossible for the OAKVILLE bluffs to be human waste from a commercial airliner. However, he did have an idea of what they were. He explained that the FAA only regulated waste disposal from commercial planes. But the blobs may have been dumped as part of a military exercise. However this only raised another unsettling question for sunny. If the military had accidentally dumped waste material over OAKVILLE, they would've tried to clean it up. Unless it wasn't an accident. Perhaps, Oakville wasn't a dump site. It was a target. Coming up, we'll debate whether the OAKVILLE blobs were part of a much larger government conspiracy now back to the story. Mysterious blobs rain down in oakville in August nineteen ninety-four Four. They carried strange bacteria as well as fear, uncertainty and speculation researchers believed that they could be jellyfish or human waste dumped illegally from passenger planes flying overhead. But another explanation existed one. That perhaps sounded too outlandish to consider. Many covert operations, the truth is stranger than fiction. The Week of August Fourteenth Nineteen. ninety-four Jim and Kathy bellinger woke to the unmistakable sounds of a bombing raid. They witnessed a weapons test conducted out of nearby mcchord Air Force Base. At first, this knowledge supported the theory that the military had blown jellyfish sky, and that was the source of the blogs. But, soon enough some Oakville residents came to believe that artillery wasn't the only thing. The Air Force was testing. In interviews on the television show unsolved mysteries, Oakville residents expressed concern that they were in a plot straight out of a dystopia novel. They feared the government had used their small town to test the efficacy of biological weapons. Locals Sunny Bar Clifton dotty hearn claimed that during the summer of Nineteen, ninety four, they cited many military aircraft hovering above OAKVILLE. Bombers and black helicopters flew slowly over the town. Many past at low altitude disturbing the citizens below. According to Oakville. Maurice Go. Prior to the BLOB fallouts. The town was often a target of air force testing. He told unsolved mysteries. They let things in the air all the time here. There's testing done all over the place. There are lots of places you can't go into. Unfortunately! Go Bay didn't go into detail about what those experiments in tailed or where he got his information, but we know the air force tested bombs fifty miles away from oakville in ocean shores. This is an undisputed fact confirmed by the military, but if they were only testing at ocean shores, it seems like over. Billions wouldn't have seen military aircraft so often. To fly from the mcchord air force base to ocean shores, aircraft must travel approximately one hundred miles due east ocean shores is practically on the same latitude as mcchord, perhaps only a degree further south. OAKVILLE on the other hand is roughly twenty five miles south of the latitude, no line between mcchord and ocean shores. To pass over Oakville while traveling between the base and the coast, any military aircraft would have to fly in a giant curve. They be forced to go at least twenty five miles out of their way to fly over OAKVILLE. The bombers and helicopters Dadi and sunny witnessed wouldn't pass directly over Oakville if they were heading straight to the ocean. This means they must have flown over Oakville for another reason. Their Unorthodox. Flightpath, points to a shocking possibility. That the ocean shores bombing runs were merely cover story. Instead. They hypothesized that the air force specifically targeted OAKVILLE. In the real weapons being tested weren't bombs but blobs. The Gu's chemical makeup bolsters this theory. Five different times independent researchers tested the OAKVILLE blobs some identified white blood cells, floating in the Goo and one, even discovered a white blood cell with no nucleus something that shouldn't occur in nature. Mike Osweiler at the Washington State Department of Ecology also uncovered two types of bacteria. They could be harmful if ingested. Because the germs would naturally die outside of human body. osweiler believed that the Goo was a man-made Matrix. It was a vehicle and someone was using it to transport dangerous bacteria. osweiler's beliefs coupled with the frequent military flyovers. Make it simple to connect the DOTS The United States military might have designed the blobs to carry biological weapons in the form of bacteria. Throughout August nineteen ninety-four, this version of the story goes. Military planes allegedly dropped blobs containing mildly toxic bacteria over the town. The military then monitored the symptoms of Oh Cvilians aliens who fell ill to track the effectiveness of the bio weapon. If this theoretical test, run win well. They'd end up with a model for biological attacks on other countries. If the BLOBS wreaked havoc on Oakville, containing only gut bacteria. Imagine the destruction. They could cause if implanted with anthrax, SARS or Bala. But in order for the tests to work, the military had to keep it a secret. So when they believed that might osweiler was getting too close to the truth, they intervened. One morning while researching the BLOBS osweiler unlocked his laboratory at the Department of Ecology, he planned to test the blood sample. He kept in the lab, but quickly discovered that his specimen was missing. When he questioned his supervisor about the loss sample. They reportedly responded. Do, not ask. osweiler lab was overseen by the State of Washington. As a government owned lab rather than a private one. It's very. That the air force could have asked the supervisor to confiscate as.

"Download. Outside of that. There are a lot of great trails in western Pennsylvania. The ghost town trail being one of them the huddle bug those are past past our Blair's Ville, Mark there's a potential pedestrian walking and trail bridge that's going to cross route twenty two and it's in the final planning stages, which is super exciting to think that we can connect Salzburg to the ghost town trail and Evans Berg, Johnstown, and then looking the other direction the Westmoreland heritage trail is connecting from Salzburg all the way to Trafford at some point then beyond that, Pittsburgh. The rough diamond trail is a really cool project. It's basically again, it's it's a rough diamond if you get online you can see some videos that were made it would connect through various trail systems. From the point in Pittsburgh through homestead and Braddock out here to Salzburg up through freeport, and then back to Pittsburgh. So that creates a hundred mile loop for people to enjoy the there's there's other waterways along that trail and kayaking all over, I know, Courtney, send us some videos, and I use the googly web and the videos and articles on the rough diamond trail that when it gets completed. It's going to be a pretty neat thing. One of the things that people often want to do if they're going to make a trip to someplace that. Maybe they're unfamiliar with and maybe people are unfamiliar with Salzburg as they wanna make it a destination to do something specific like a race or an event you mentioned a couple of events and again, this is outside of my wheelhouse. Because I generally don't go east of the city, I generally go west or south because I live south, but you have a triathlon. Here you have a soldier nd and I think you mentioned a couple of other events, and I think it's pretty neat. The triathlon is not a swim bike run. But you actually use the river in canoes kayaks if you can talk about some of the events that people might have the opportunity to do in the Salzburg area. We'll also have show notes with links to these. So if you're slightly off on the dates or you're not sure of the dates. That's okay. Okay. So yes, the first thing that we have coming up is actually a brand new five k run walk series on the trail. This is an opportunity for people from this area or from Pittsburgh to get out. And. Maybe get a little introduction to the trails in this area. We're gonna have a series of six events from April through September think. And that will take place on west Penn trail Westmoreland heritage trail. There's a trail in Johnstown called the dick Mayer trail, but is going to participate ghost town trail. So it's a great opportunity just to maybe some of these towns that you haven't been to this would be for each of the events. It's on a different trailer different route each of the vents takes place on a different section of the trail indoor different trail in a different town. I believe that we are going to award the top three in the male and female categories, and maybe in the different age groups and at the end of the series if someone competes in more than four races, they'll be a combined score at the end, and they get the league with bragging rights, maybe a little prize. It sounds like a really fun event. And I think I think it's a great way to to to meet the trails. The sojourns next one after that that's going to be the first week of June the sixth through the ninth is Thursday Friday, Saturday Sunday, you can come for one day. You can come for all four you can camp. You can stay at hotel. If you want of camping's, not your thing that event covers forty four miles of river from the stoney creek river in Johnstown to the Connemara and then onto the kiss key minutes. So it's a great opportunity again, you can see Johnstown from a different perspective. You always get to be in the river and see that and go through the Kandhamal gap. And then I mentioned the packs out about those are two of the deepest gorgeous in the state. They're beautiful we provide most meals for that event. And we can also provide rental boats for that as well. If you're hearing this and you're interested in that. I would imagine contact you as soon as possible because both go it's not something the day before you can call up and say, hey, do you have a boat if you need to rent I would recommend signing up soon and registration is limited to the first one hundred people for that event. So if you wanna get in do it soon, it's a great event. So the five K run, there's a sojourn. There's also a triathlon five K runs, plural. Going throughout the summer and spring summer into the fall. You also have a triathlon is a typical for people said like to do a triathlon. But I don't know how to swim or not jumping in that river because they remember what it was like when you and I were kids, right? So our sojourn is none are so Durham sorry. Are triathlon is entering it. Seven th year. It's growing every year, and it's super fun event. You can compete solo you can compete in teams of two or three. And it is what you said, it's a kayak bike and five K people are always interested. What are the kayak distances and the biking distances? And then also with the bike is on the trails the rails trails. Yes. So that is one of our major fundraisers for condom valley conservancy and the west Penn trail fund participants will first kayak, and they'll do that from the Ahmad damn right to salts. Berg, it's seven and a half mile trip after that they will enter the staging area retrieve their bicycle and they will ride that bicycle. Fifteen miles to the Connemara damn and back after that. They will take the trail down the kiss ski minute aside for the five K. So they'll do half of that. And then come back to finish it about occurs. I think you said in October October second week. So I think this year is the twelfth or the thirteenth and the advantage of that for people who are thinking is maybe if they're lucky it's a nice fall day. Not quite as hot and humid as a typically in the summer. It's usually beautiful we've been talking with Courtney crow. She's talked to us about kayaking in Salzburg. She's part of Salzburg kayak. She's talked about the rails to trails and definitely check out the Konta Valich servants do a Google search for the rough diamond trail and realized that if you get a little bit farther than twenty or thirty minutes outside of Pittsburgh. There's a whole new series of trails and rivers and other things that can really make the outdoors a significant part of your lifestyle Cornell. And thank you for telling us about all the things Salzburg has to offer. For I have to confess I suspect. I may try to come back and do the triathlon in the fall. Oh, you're welcome tail. Thank you. Thanks
