"And i enjoyed his always by ben limber of the ringer. I'm not as good as the cardinals. But i am. Otherwise fis notice. Did we look. Allow me. I to say i don't believe in ghosts. Don't believe in devils magic. I think I think those are narratives that help people understand and explain their lives and phenomena. So you know. It's not for me. But i appreciate how it is for others. I will say first thing. I don't believe in. I'm sure i'm sure forced to think about it often. You know they sure. Do make me think about it and say i still think that's not true. You know. I still have to engage with that with frequency that i am often shocked by. I did not see this coming. Not just the very long winning streak that they are currently on at least as we speak but just generally the whole resurgence that they had had i kind of wrote the cardinals off at some point this season. They were kind of an after thought. We were all talking about the padres that was seemingly set for months of the season that patriots were going to be the team that won one of those wildcards and then the reds were searching. And in the cardinals. Kenneth came out of nowhere. Slow and steady until recently when it's been the opposite of that has been winning got a furious pace but yeah it seems like a lot of people are like here. We go again no. It's the cardinals and they're going to win the world series and no one wants that it seems like everyone still sorta sick of the cartels. Even though evan like won a world series in the west three years or anything but they've just made the playoffs and been a winning team or at least a kind of competitive team so consistently that i guess they're not exciting but hey they've earned it and some other teams have kind of collapsed and they're still standing there. September had their playoff odds at two point. Eight percent on springer seventh. We had them at two point eight percent and they are now and ninety nine point. Three percent yeah. What happened there. I guess we've talked about adam wainwright and how great he is been and then i guess the bullpen which was an issue earlier in the year and they were walking everyone and wild pitching everyone and having run score and hit by pitches and all sorts of nonsense and that has stopped the bullpens been better and then they've been in a solid defensive team along which is easy to overlook but it still sort of shocking that this has happened. I guess it's good players. Playing well like paul goldschmidt has been on a streak himself. Yeah and as you said they have that good defense. Which is jay. Jaffe wrote this week for fan graphs and kevin touched on in his piece on. This phenomenon has helped. You know guys like lester and hap and i gotta say. We're all excited about john. Lester and poor jay. Hap is being just as mediocre and no one's talking about him at all but you know that defense has helped those guys to achieve results that have outstripped what they were doing earlier in the season even though they aren't really pitching all that much better themselves and yeah it's just a thing that is is is it was lurking and now it is here and we must confront it and it's really a shame that it's not an even year because i probably could get a thousand words out of you know whether or devil magic were stronger like i. I'd like to engage in some false rigor on that question but the calendar didn't quite cooperate with me. Yeah tyrod yield's been good all year. Kevin wrote about edmundo's sosa has replaced. Paul diong and his not only been a good fielder but has hit as well so yeah credit to the cardinals while the padres are tire fire and while the reds of come short a bunch there have the cardinals been just biding their time winning every game. So yep we're gonna see some cardinals in the playoffs. It looks like they are surprising but not as surprising as the surprising team of the season. And that is how. I wanted to lead off. You're just by noting that our friend and recent guest means of baseball prospectus. Report at the other day that the giants are now the biggest pagoda over performers of all time. Wow so yeah pagoda. Projected them for seventy four wins this year. We're recording on friday. They have ninety nine and counting so they have outperformed their prokhoda projection by twenty five games and that puts them at the top of the list and pagodas been generating team projections since two thousand three. So we're almost up to twenty years of projections at this point and yeah they have now surpassed the two thousand twelve as were the previous leader at twenty four games over their projections. And then legendarily the twenty fifteen royals acceding by twenty two wins and the twenty twelve orioles. Another team that caused a lot of discussion twenty one wins those royals and orioles teams for a whole period. There were kind of repeated over performers lot as a molest which is not surprising at the two thousand twelve. As at twenty four wins two thousand eighteen as at twenty one wins two thousand nineteen as at twenty win so the as of surprise this a lot and then you have some royals teams that two thousand three royals and other sort of surprisingly decent team. Nineteen wins two thousand. Four dodgers nineteen wins. Two thousand five white sox worked out well for them. Nineteen wins twenty eleven. Diamondbacks nineteen wins. That was the team that had a negative run differential. I think then the two thousand eighteen red sox who were great of course nineteen wins and the twenty nineteen twins nineteen wins so the giants take their place at the top of this list and unlike some of those teams that were like run differential over performers as well the giants are just good which makes them more content take care. I didn't know that twenty five wins was the most or that the giants were the most but that feels fitting because they are basically the story of the season at least as far as team centric stories. Go i just appreciate that. A bunch of relative olds out here doing great within their best lives. It's really exciting. Mostly still younger than we are. Which is disconcerting. We dwell on that part. Ben friday seltzer and a beer open right now. So i am i am. I'm saying let us let us lean into the things we like and not the things that make us sad. Although i guess i might have heartburn in my future so true over here this is something that has been occurring to me more and more lately as i think. Oh that guy's old wait. Are you mixing chasing one with the other. Which goes i was just. You know it's important to hydrate. Because i live in the desert and so you gotta hydrate and i have a seltzer for that purpose. And then you know. Sometimes as i've said before when we recorder friday show the rest of my schedule allows. We'll have a little A little beer with our recording. It's nice 'cause i enjoyed talking to. You sends me into the weekend on a high note. It's great not double fisting beverages. It's not one after the other. I see okay by the way. I have to correct what i said there. The twenty eleven diamondbacks were not the team that overperform they run differential. I was thinking of the two thousand seven. Diamondbacks who famously outscored had a pythagorean record of seventy nine and eighty three and ended up winning ninety games in the west but the two thousand eleven diamondbacks. That was a good team. They went ninety. Four hundred sixty eight and they had the run differential of at least an eight win team. So not quite as weird. But yeah the giants. I still don't know whether they will win the western. We're still speculating about that. That has been. I think the weirdest part of the whole division races just the way that these teams win every day seemingly the giants and the dodgers than they always win on the same days and lose on the same days and and we did a stap less about that not long ago but it is just so odd to see them both winning so often and yet. The dodgers barely gaining ground. And i know it's been frustrating for our pal cruelty dodger's fan like tweeting daily of how just the experience of watching the giants and seek them somehow. Pull out win after win after win. Well rooting for them to lose. It has been a very strange but also wonderful season. I'm worried that they are like The we're going to get a netflix stock about A true crime murder and it will be these two teams conspiring to kill. Craig and i don't know what he ever did to them. You know like I guess that the giants are really mad about that The pagoda projection. They had but believe poor craig alone be decisive wondering so we can rest. Yeah yeah patrick. Dubuque of his perspective just wrote an article about the giants projection. Basically looking at like how it missed an as he noted like you wouldn't really want a projection system to have pegged the giants correctly this year. Because if you did and if you were able to find one that had anticipated this it probably would be wrong about every other team..

No firefighter friend of mine named Mike Angeloni was in here on Thursday who went back and sent me pictures from the ceremony in New York for the 20th anniversary. And then Mike McAvoy, whose brother was ladder Ladder three with F, D, N. Y. And his best friend Jimmy James loudly, who died who worked for Cantor Fitzgerald in the towers. I think That, um You know, we remember the people that we lose. We remember the people that sacrificed so that others could live. Yes, it was the first responders that were down there. 343, firefighters and 40 almost 40 or so police officers who died that day. But what about the average American citizen that just helped that helped other people get to safety? That might not otherwise be able to do it, Um, sacrificing risking their own lives to make sure other people were okay. That's something about us. There's an American principle in that and something that I wish we could get back to there was you know, over the weekend, I change my profile pictures on social media for the twin towers and so many people. You know, they're 18 years old. This happened 20 years ago. So anything they know about 9 11. They learned from us and the politics that permeates our schools is infuriating the so many of us and his motivated so many people to action. In Washington state. There was a high school and these kids Over at East Lake High School, and some Hamish wanted to, um Have a ceremony. Everybody's wearing red, white and blue, and the players wanted to wear red, white and blue. They wanted to come out onto the field. Um, and they weren't allowed to. Since it was not a home game. There was no opportunity to have an announcement about Patriots Day and the share. White students were dressed in red, white and blue. They also reported that it seemed to be taken by surprise about the decision to call off the theme. Um so I want you to hear a quote. I do want to clarify the schools do not have the right to ban students from wearing anything as long as it's not lewd or vulgar and the theme of red, white and blue definitely would not fit into that category. But what they did was they stopped the players and others from having this, um, Memorial or this tribute. The beginning of the game. I want you to think about what tributes mean go out to Cardinal Stadium and go look at the the statue of Pat Tillman out in front of Cardinal Stadium in his Cardinals. Uniform. Um, go and go to ask you. And look at the tributes to Pat Tillman in Arizona State University. Um and I don't know that it's the same, but the way it used to be in my I'm sure it's still is that when the players walk out of the tunnel, there's a you know, kind of a curtain over the tunnel, and it is got Pat Tillman like they're following Pat Tillman out onto the field. Things like that are amazing. When you look here, the 100 Club, um, doing the steps walking the steps. In honor of the fallen, You saw firefighters in full turnout gear. Walking the same steps that those firefighters walked in order to get people out. I should say that the steps to the same number of steps to commemorate the loss of all the lives that happened on 9 11. And and to me, I look at this and I think what are we doing when we teach history? You know, And if we're going to if there are people that are just angry and and don't like our country and their history teachers what do they teaching? You know, what are they teaching people what they talk about indoctrination and and how they're going to tell the truth. Um the truth is in America is not perfect. The truth is that we've done as a nation are government. We've done some pretty bad things in this world. Um, but the truth is also that there's never been a greater country on the planet. That generally speaking about the American people when bad things happen. America is usually the first ones in the last ones out, and it's not just our government. But yes, it's our government to the American people Give Graciously and they give in huge amounts. Um Sometimes stretching themselves thin in order to help others. You look what happened recently in Louisiana and with the storms that hit and you look at the number of people from Arizona that went 9 11 who went, um wildfires who went from Arizona How many of us sent money or sent supplies when we had the floods and globe in Miami? Um, you know, the organizing of Matt Salmon organizers..

I remember this from when I was young faith, Hope and love are some good things he gave us the greatest is love. I remember. But you know what? That's not what we're gonna talk about this hour. I can't remember exactly where I was. Hours at home in my shower. And Jennifer ran and said, You've got to get out here. You've got to see this. And I spent the next hour literally. Shaking. And crying in rage, absolute rage. And I hope this surprises you to hear it. But as a young man, I could give you the phone numbers to my five sisters. They can attest to this. Uh, I had an uncontrollable Temper. As a young adult and and as a young man, absolutely uncontrollable temper. It was not pretty. Uh, the good lord and my sweet wife beat that out of me. Think goodness, And I hope none of you have seen it. I think I've only straight displayed it three or four times. In the last 40 years. Um, but I had A rage that day. But today I invited absolutely one of my most special guests that we ever have on the show. Associate professor of history. Dr David Dean from Grand Canyon University and said, Doctor would you consider coming on our show and I don't want to talk about 9 11. I want to talk about the patriotism. I want to talk about the unity. I want to talk about the love there was manifested on September 12th. Welcome, Dr David Dean. Good morning. It's good to be here, man. I got that text from you. I think I replied back in about what? 10 15 seconds. A. I'm not even true. Was that long? Yeah, I'm happy to be here and you're absolutely right. There's a lot to be said today. As America and Arizonans remember and commemorate this day, but it shouldn't be a day of somberness. It's a day to remind us that as uh, on that day America was Unified. We were outraged. We were anxious, but we were also willing to give the shirt off our back to shoes off of our feet. Uh, donate blood, donate water, anything that we could do? To help Americans wanted to respond and to help each other. Well, I think we were kind of we woke up the next morning. And here's how I remember it. Um Some of the headlines were The twin towers is capable of holding 50,000 people. It could have been So much worse, right? It could have been so much worse. They say that the first responders the work that they did save 30,000 lives. It's the greatest evacuation in the history of the world that they saved. 30,000 lives in a matter of Lesson 40 minutes or so. I mean, it's just amazing. I became familiar just in the last couple days with a particular man by name of Rick Rescorla, who was at Morgan Stanley, who occupied six floors. Of that building. He alone is responsible for saving almost 3000 lives. Wow, that's incredible. I saw a story about a man who they had gone down together and the his One of his the men had had loafers on and just in all the rubble and everything. They were just gone. His feet was bare and, uh, the man with him pulled out a pair of gym shoes and gave them to him and said, Put these on your feet so you can get Help get out of here. I mean, that's how people that they wanted to help if you'd like to share your story of patriotic hope. Of 9 12 Fif free to join us here this hour one Triple eight. 767 43 48. On 9 11 Well, and the Pentagon is another example where people helped one another. The hallways were crowded. It's a very confusing building to be in and then the dark people. Held hands. They held onto each other's belts, and they crawled their way through the rubble and got out. Uh, with people saying I've got you follow me, you know, And so it's a great thing and, of course, Um, it Shanksville, Pennsylvania Flight 93 the Heroes flight. What talk about, you know people who said we're going to not just worry about us, but we know it's happening. And we're going to save thousands of other lives in.

What's the home run hitting contest? Right. It was It was, uh, it was the most exciting night of the year. So far because baseball that boring that was at least something I'll tell you. What man that should maybe the end games like after they get to 10 innings, So just like all right, you pick your best. I love that, like, you know, like the soccer but it's like it's just shame that ends this way. But it's so exciting, but it is awful, but it's a shame. But it's awful. "Diamondbacks. The Giants beat him 11 to 4. And I point out the 1962 giant team. They went to the World Series. They lost six in a row. No one went crazy there and they got everything straight and ended up winning a playoff with the Dodgers to go to the World Series. So during the baseball season, you're going to go up and down. You're going to win. Some lose some And there will be some streaks. But the Giants pitching has been outstanding. It continues to be outstanding and as long as they pitch and do the things that they've been doing for Half a season now. 51 30 51 30 81 games. They are going to be okay. They've got a half game lead. Over the Dodgers. The Dodgers play Washington tonight. Kershaw and SP No. There There are 3.5 ahead of San Diego. San Diego is in Philly tonight. Darvish and Zach Eflin in that one. But for the Giants, they've won 12 of 16 24 of 34. They have just had a tremendous, tremendous season. And I know everyone worries about the trade deadline coming up and what are they going to do in this and that and I don't think they're going to do much. I think this team that's taken him to 51. 30 is pretty well intact. They've got some injuries and players are going to come back and to be like getting a new third baseman when Longoria comes back. Where second baseman when La Stella comes back, but they will have players coming back. So I think for everyone, just to sit back and relax and be glad that the Giants got the prescription from the doctor, and that is when you lost and you are losing four in a row. You say Who do I want to play? And then you answer Arizona, the Arizona Diamondbacks in May and June, Arizona eight and 48 that's correct eight and 48, 3 and 24 in June. They're one and one in July, And when you look at Arizona there lasted home runs given up. The Giants are the best in baseball and hitting home runs and their last an earned run average for their pitching staff. So Not hard to understand why the Giants have won seven of eight against Arizona. Arizona is going to have a lot to do without this National League West ends up the Giants have 11 more games with them. And they've got to win. That's a nine of 11 to, you know, take care of business here with Arizona. Arizona's got the trade deadline coming up Who knows what they'll do and if they'll even be weaker. But we've got these two games here on the weekend. Obviously, tonight and tomorrow night and then the Giants come home for the Cardinals. But in August, the Giants get six. With Arizona in August. We'll talk about this as the weekend goes on for me. August is going to be the toughest month for the Giants. They're going to play teams. They have not seen. The Milwaukee Brewers have won 10 in a row, and they're beating up on Pittsburgh again today. Atlanta and the Marlins. Of course, playing today and, uh, that's a close game. But the Giants are going to see Atlanta Giants are going to see the Mets. The Mets took care of the Yankees today 8 to 3, and they've got a three game lead. In the National League East, So there are going to be teams. The Giants are going to see Houston and Oakland as well. So August is going to be a tough month. But in the middle of that Group of teams that will challenge the Giants. The Arizona Diamondbacks are there for six games three more in September. And, of course, these two here so tonight, the Giants go to a left hand there left, he seemed to do well against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Diamondbacks are Eight and 26 against the West. They've lost 13 of their last 15 against left handed starters, so we'll see what happens here. But it is Sammy Long on the hill for the Giants tonight. Jake Faria 27 years old 64 to 25. He's been in the big leagues before with Tampa Bay with Milwaukee. He's have 54 games. 28th Major league start. He made one start for the Diamondbacks this year. We'll learn more about him four innings, three hits or run, no walks, three strikeouts, No homers. Against the ST Louis Cardinals, lefties one for 10 against them, right. He's five for 20 with a homer, but he's been around. He was 1/10 round pick of Tampa Bay Wave back in 2011. He made it to the big leagues. He's 27 now. And now he's got a shot to do something here with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He is a fly ball pitcher. Yes, a tendency to give up more home runs than normal. And he gives up more fly balls, then ground outs, which is playing right into the hands of the giants, who have that nice uppercut swing home runs last night, Dickerson weighed and Estrada The big Slam for him. The Giants win at 11 4 behind Alex Wood and a host of relievers, and they get ready for tonight with Sammy Long against Jake Perea, Bill Lasky. Good afternoon. Happy July, 4th weekend to you. Here we go. Arizona and the Giants. Good afternoon, Marty. And Good afternoon, all the listeners out there listening to talking baseball a long weekend ahead for us, Marty, but I think last night by breaking that losing streak they have little momentum going into tonight. And what can you say about Estrada? What a day he had Basit Double Grand Slam love the kids so far. Well, so far so good. I would say first strategy so far so good As we say. When they bring these guys up, you know it is the big leagues, Marie Show Dubon at four hits last night at Sacramento. So But what I liked about him. Bill is the swing and he got a pitch that he could handle and he got under that wall and I'm telling you, it's the game of baseball today, and I don't know if it was the way you played and when you pitch, but boy These swings and you get a picture You can get under with the power of these guys Have that ball goes out of the park in a strategist crushed that one. You know, Marty, they pitched him in when they got ahead of them, and I think he was looking at that and right before he got up to the plate. Vote went out there and talk to the picture. And they were, you know, covering their mouth and everything like that. And I think he just wanted to look inside. He ambushed that fastball in and they were coming in at him hard. You got a base it You know, through the whole ball inside, and I think that's their their scouting report to try to pound him in, but I like what you said. I think he's got a nice lift. He hits the barrel of the bat. And so far, even that ball in those first at bat against the Dodgers. He ripped it all the way to right field all against the wall that Mookie Betts caught so, so far so good. And you know, Johnny Daskal gave me a little rundown on him. He's a contact hitter. He doesn't strike out a lot, and he pushes the ball all over the place. And you know, that's one thing that far, unlike to bottom, the Yankees, really, you know, let them go. They really didn't give him an opportunity in much at the big League level. He came over to triple A. He played every day. He did his job. He worked at different positions, and this is what he's granted an opportunity to play in the big leagues, and the Giants took advantage of it. So what do you do with him here? Uh, obviously, the stellar will come back and you've got a ton of infielders. What do you do with Estrada? I think you play him at all different positions. Third short and second, give some of these guys days off. He's going to be well in the defensive side, and I think he fits in until some move has to be made. Of course, Longoria is probably going to be the first one coming back. You don't know about belt. We don't know how long that's going to take, but it's not going to be surgery, so that's going to be rehab. And then you just start figuring out where can he fit in? Solano's in there. Also, we keep forget about Solano. He's going to get his bats. He had a day off yesterday. I think he fits in and if he keeps hitting, he's gotta play. Thank goodness for the Arizona Diamondbacks. That's all I can say. Boy, they come up on the schedule just when you need them, and they're going to be there in August, when the Giants need him again. You know, Marty, I looked at that at 23 61. I shook my head. When I looked at that this morning. I was like, Wow, that is a bad record, And that's a tough record. And you know what? I got Bob Brenly on later tennis our and we're going to talk a little bit about this team. Compared to 1985. Whether Giants lost 100 games and some of the similarities and there are some Well, I would say there are and it's probably start with the pitching, but this is the reverse of your record. You were 61 in 23. These guys These guys are 23 61 so hard to believe. Eight and 48 in May and June, all right?.

"The the Diamondbacks, although they are at home, so I don't know if that makes any bit of a difference. But let's get into it. And everything else. Baseball Tim Kurkjian joins us courtesy of the, um I guess on Hi, Tim. Great. Talked again. How are you? I'm well, tell us how you doing Well, we're hanging in there, and I want to know how you're going to take the best record baseball in the worst record in baseball make this an interesting broadcast. Yeah, well, the Diamondbacks have been so we describe what we had that we always have a saying as beat writers all those years that I did. That was give me a great team. Give me a terrible team. It's the ones that are stuck in the middle that are so hard to write about, because you don't know if they're in or their house. You don't know if they're good or they're bad. But tonight it's pretty clear. The Giants are really good. The Diamondbacks are really bad, and I'm not not my nature. I get no joy out of pointing out how bad a team is. But this team is really bad, and I I'm used to that. I covered 88 Orioles, who have lost 21 games in a hole and Sheldon Ocher and I used to cover the Indians had a bet once who co wrote more losing game stories in the eighties. Me For him, and he decided it's not even close. He was the leader at that. But I know how to cover a bad team, so I'll be fine tonight. All right, I'll take the bait. Here. Uh, carne AC how bad Are they? I mean this team Jim on May the third. They weren't always bad. Arizona had a 15 and 13 record in an off day and made it their mission to third since they have gone seven. And 47. They just finished a month of June where they won three games three and 24 after a May when they went five and 24 we know about the 24. Game losing streak on the road. But are we talking? You mentioned the Cleveland Indians. Are we talking Cleveland spiders, bed or possibly 62 Mets? When it's all said and done, how bad might they be? Well, there's certainly on the pace to do what the 62 Mets did Remember That team had a 17 game losing streak and a 13 game losing streak, which the Diamondbacks have. So they're the first team since 62 Mets to have that. And that's also had an 11. The Diamondbacks tray lost, as you know, lost 24 Street Road games. That's a major league record, and they also hold a major league record now for trailing At one point or another in 41 straight games. No team has ever done that, Um, three and 24. June. That's the second worst June record of any team in history, and they have lost now 43 games in a row when they score four runs or fewer. So the Giants have won 20 games this year when they scored four or fewer. The Diamondbacks have won one game and they've lost their last 43. That's how bad they are right now. Wow. Tim Kurkjian is joining US Diamondbacks and Giants on ESPN tonight. As far as the Giants go, we just saw them. It was a two game series, but they get swept by the Dodgers in DeSclafani. And Gausman lose, and it sends. I wouldn't say shockwaves, but maybe a little bit nervous are Giants fans right now. How do you look at the Giants and and obviously we're in the month of July so we can start talking about trade deadline. What potentially could they be looking for? Well, I think there should be a little bit nervous because they still got the Dodgers and the Padres right behind them. But I'm all in on the Giants. They're going to the playoffs there. Maybe three teams from the nationally West going to the playoffs, but they're going As they can hit the ball out of the ballpark, and only the Dodgers have pitched better than the Giants this year, Um, in the National League, and their defense is great, so they're banged up right now. They got a bunch of people either on the injured list or hobbling around. I think they'll recover from this. And I think they'll be fine. But let's not lose track that the Padres are really good and the Dodgers are really, really good. So I think the Giants are in a really good spot right now. As soon as they can get everybody healthy. I think they become a a great, really good team again. Chairman it at six o'clock our time, half hour before you guys go on the air for the national broadcaster Giants and D'backs. We're going to find out who are the starters are going to be in the All Star game, and we're anticipating Buster Posey will be Starter, which leads to, uh you know, Rookie of the Year. Most valuable Player three Times World Series champion Six time All Star four time Silver slugger. Gold Glove won the batting title on top of the M V P and his second World Series champion ship, But, you know he had years where he was not himself because of the hip injury took all of last year off and here he is, at age 34. Back on top, going back to another All Star game as a starter. So, although the overall numbers are there in some categories, when you look at 100 and 52 home runs and If he was to walk away from the game right now, in your opinion is Buster Posey, a Hall of Famer. Uh, well, these are the hardest questions because he's not walking away now, But I would say he needs more to make it to the Hall of Fame. I mean those numbers. That you talked about, like only Yogi Berra has matched some of those numbers as far as championships and MVPs and a catcher and all this, but I think he needs a little more time. And, um, once he gets a little more time in catches for a couple more years, if you can, Of course, I think he will be a Hall of Famer Joe Mauer's in a similar votes very tricky with catchers but high He's hitting 3 30. Now he's got a 9 78 0 P s. He looks like he's got his power back to right and right center field, but she didn't have in 2019. So I think there's every thought that he's going to end up in the Hall of Fame. I just think he needs a little more padding to get there. Tim Kurkjian, journalists, Diamondbacks and Giants on ESPN Tonight, pop in line here on the sports leader. Obviously, Tim the big story in baseball, and it's disturbing Saw Jeff passes piece on Trevor Bauer today. I don't know what the rules are. I know in football, they can suspend guys and you're You're innocent until proven guilty. But what is baseball do about this situation? One of the Dodgers do about this situation. Well, that's really good question, and I don't know what they're going to do. Um, baseball is going to have to take a really hard look at this. And justice has to prevail here. No matter what, but I don't know enough about the details of this case to to be sure of anything. Um, so we're going to just have to wait till Baseball makes a decision and we find out exactly who's telling the truth on everything. But if everything is true that that we hear rumors about then baseball is going to take a really, really hard look at this. Going to be so great to have you on the giant broadcast tonight, Tim, Uh, I think you're doing it from your home office. Still, who's on the call with you and just doing these broadcast?.

"Giants be home tomorrow night, four games with the Diamondbacks starting tomorrow. Ross pitches Cueto and he misses low ball one. So this will be the Diamondbacks first trip to San Francisco all year. D bags will be back in August for two games in September for three games, but they're here for four games starting tomorrow. One. Oh, pitch credo hits a little dribbler, and it is a fair ball on the first base side. Avila, the catcher will pick it up and Graito only started to run very late. Dealer tags him out. Two down for Mike Hawkman 6 45 start times tomorrow Tuesday and Wednesday. Then we get a day game on Thursday for the final game of the series 12 45. Back to 6 45 on Friday, but then 15 start times both Saturday and Sunday with the Phillies here. The three day games in four days and then the James will have next Monday off. That's the next Giants off day stretch in the schedule. It's a little bit of a grind. The pitch to talk men, Mrs. Inside Ball one for nothing that's in the third. Hawkman struck out to start the game. Hitting 1 82 for the years on base average is sunk down below 300. So even the walks have started to go away one. Oh, pitch high, too, And no, And part of that is if you're not hitting teams aren't going to nibble. Nobody's nibbling right now against Hawkman. We'll draw the occasional walk with a pitcher who's wild, but teams are just attacking him, so he's going to have to counter with some swings to get back in the mode where he can Kind of be his normal self. Here. He swings and fouls this one back out of play case in point. That's 94 miles an hour, but it's middle middle just right down the center of the plate. And instead of hitting a hard line, drive somewhere, doing some damage. Taking a picture think the next time he just fouled it off. Still ahead of the count, though, too and one here's the pitch and another fastball. Right down the middle. That one popped up down the left field line Schwarber over, but it's beyond his reach. Two and two. That's kind of what I mean by that is that Hawkman is not going to draw walks when the when pitchers are Throwing pitches to him right down the heart of the plate. So it takes away a huge part of his game, which is working couch grinding at bats getting on base. Here's the two to That is swung on and missed. Strike breathe, So he's over to with a couple of strikeouts. Giants go down quietly again in the third onto the bottom half with Ryan Zimmerman coming up for national squad..

"I think this is less ominous and Mork surprising that I'm going to give statistical information similar to what Larry does on the regular That makes one go. Mm. And stroke your your chin. Which may or may not have whiskers. Very pensively. So do we have any like surprising music? I just think like the top that that's kind of ominous, Do we? Not just that was that Oh, there. Yeah, sort of. Okay, but you know what? I'll take the pipe organ. Why not? Uh, I saw this last night. When I was watching the Diamondbacks Dodgers game. And I was surprised to see this. But then when you realized the stat and you, you know, running through your brain, it makes sense. The Giants starters E R. A 268 right now. Over 41 games. That's the fourth lowest E R. A The San Francisco Giants of head since the team moved west and with thank you and you know you think about the great pitching staffs, obviously. You know, Let's go. McCain and Bumgarner and and the other guys that rounded out those championship winning pitching staff should go all the way back to. You know, Mayor Schell and Gaylord Period and there have been some Very good steps. But these air staffs that we know by name, we can rattle them off. And what's this Giants pitching staff? It is gospel and destroy the school. Funny. And where Bob and Sanchez who am I Forgetting? Who am I Forgetting? Would you would you gotta just can't lose? Yeah, s so Johnny's are the guys that are quite ill. Thank you. These are the guys that are right now. After quarter the season sporting the fourth Best E. R a over 40 41 games the Giants have had since they have become The San Francisco Giants. That tells you everything you need to know about with. The Giants are right now, so we're sweating it out with the bullpen, and you think it O made it. They could just sure that up there really going to be cooking with gas, But these starters man and Logan Web last night just keep it going. Six innings, six hits, but he wasn't at his best. I want to know more about this sore shoulder thing, he said. It's not a big deal, but Uh, sore shoulder. Okay. But Webb did his part last night. Like I said, six innings, six hits, no runs and one walk and four strikeouts couple. Um, he needed when things start to get a little wonky. So Starting pitching man. It's It is surprisingly lights out, and it is really Hoping a male right now for the squad. Well in in. We're starting to see guys start to heat up a little bit, You know? Yes, Homeland yesterday to second two days. I think it went like 4 30. Du Bon hit us hit one out to center off a 95 mile an hour fastball down the middle from four dead bear boy didn't absolutely and then and then the floor is three run shot to the opposite field. You know, Flora's if he gets it going, you know, that's another bat that you know, can provide power. So I mean giants of Homeward and 14 straight road games going back to April 19th. It's the longest streak and a single season streak in the franchise is history. Um, since 1947. So you go back to the New York days. Last time I checked out the one up one up me with the statistical information, didn't you? Just You couldn't let me live. You could let me shine. Let me let's go back to the Polo ground. But yet another plant. They're playing great. And the vibe is great family. They're still outstanding. Yeah, I mean, how about that, too? I mean to bond with the Crawford glove. My my son didn't believe me. Last time. My case got Crawford's glove. And um and then, so he's like He paused it and we rolled it right to the to the freeze frame where it showed his glove and Michael gets his Brandon Crawford right there, and he said he was wearing Brandon Crawford's glove. But it's amazing how you know the giant sir are living right, you know, And I wonder if it's I just think that you know, every team knows what their expectation level is. And you, you know, they can play games with themselves, you know, and try to kid themselves. But everybody knows when they're achieving Maura than they were expected to achieve or less. And if you've achieved a lot less than what you're expected, you start to feel, he said. The press But if you've achieved greater than the expectations and really exceeded all expectations, there's like the looseness in a in a good vibe USA around this Giants club. And in its amazing because you know what? What would kill a good vibe? Well, a bunch of bull pen implosions, but they'll have these bullpen implosions, but then they're feeling good. It's like it's like every game. The Giants starter shuts him down. The Giants bats score some runs. The Giants get to the six or seventh, either with like a 45 run lead or the one or two run lead. And then it's you know, then it's flip a coin time, right? And then it's like we're all you know time to say some prayers and kind of hope, hope they could bring the ship to shore. But it's It's amazing. We're seeing the same game kind of repeatedly there. They're getting leads there, sometimes keeping them and sometimes not. Well, they have every reason to be confident. Pardon me. You just mentioned obviously the important stuff. They pitch they hit But they pick up the ball. They don't give away. You know, extra 90 ft. They don't get themselves in a position or they don't extend innings, therefore, extending the pictures outing. You know, they're tighty when it comes to their defense, You know, obviously the guy on the mound, handling things from from the point and the guys behind him and the pictures. Particularly the starters. They don't walk the ballpark. They don't mess around. They don't. They don't give up free passes and get themselves into stressful situations. They just they don't you know again, just looking, You know, Web last night. Clearly he wasn't at his best that that was that an optimal start for him. But he only walked one guy. One guy. How many times over the past few years? Have we seen the giant started? Go out there, and it's his stuff is OK or, you know, maybe not Okay? And he just walked the damn ball park and a half innings just you know, they just dragged on and on and on. We talked about this here over. You know this this early going of the season, you know, really getting the info from, you know, our man bags and and Susan Slusser are can be our insiders or when we talked to John and And Dave for the you know, for the cross talk in the pregame that the mantra for this Giants team with their starters is when time of possession. Farhaan is hipped us onto this, too. And given us some insight, they just go there, man and they just rock and fire rock and fire they throw I love Watching Web pitch last night and just count in between, you know, pitches 10 12, seconds something along those lines. Just get it and go. So when guys were in a rhythm, they're not walking guys. The defense they're on their toes. They're picking the ball up. It's just everything is working in harmony right now, and this is clearly a Giants team that knows no matter who they play, no matter where they play them. They got a chance to win. They're not going to fear anybody there, maybe teams that are better than him. And we're going to find out some interesting stuff here with the Dodgers series coming up this weekend, when the Giants eventually Get back home, but they know they could be with anybody because they have the tools to compete with anybody they can hit. They can pitch they could field and they're smart. You know something he will pin. I'm watching my kid's little League game the other night and you know kids are pitching and they can steal this year. Um, and it's funny kid comes in to pitch. And he is throwing a pitch a minute. I mean, he's not throwing at all Rod because he just the fact that the kids taking a lead, he did Zzyzx Troy ng him, so he's looking over, But he doesn't want to throw over because you don't wanna throw wildly between keeps looking over. He's looking over. You keep flicking on that. Now there's 1st and 2nd. Now he's looking over at first, there's a guy on second. He's three coaches like he's not going anywhere. There's a guy at second. Now. He's looking at second, and he's looking over and he's looking over. And I'm like, Oh, my God. My said to my wife. I'm going to run out there. Make this kid throw pitches. Thrown up. Wow..

"Hundred sixty two million dollars. Three hundred and seventy five million dollars of it was stock You know that that leaves about four hundred. Eighty five million or so in diamondbacks stock. An instance this deal is announced diamondbacks stocks about twelve percent. So you know it's it's already better for for guidance for an for blackstone and If you subtract the pdp out For for the the guide on acreage they're essentially paying about twenty thousand dollars an acre for the pud. So it's more expensive than you on similar deals in in in the permian but it's it's less expensive than what they were paying previously a couple of years ago a little bit harder to with q. e. p. on what they're paying for the undeveloped acreage because there's midstream that comes along with it but Overall diamond back really their inventory Gives gives them a great position in martin county and and And then it'll be. It'll be neat to see what they do with the With the williston basin stuff on the timing. You know with the opec cuts no seems like great timing for diamondback scooping these guys up now month before opec mesa cuts and then go back to that conaco in contra deal you know hindsight now it looks like a really good deal for conaco as well and You know shareholders probably did lose out on both of those deals but in terms of the acquirer. Seems like those will be good deals form if we can hold steady oil prices at fifty dollars above yet there's winners and losers in every deal on the guidance piece it's neat to see that there's a cash component because that's just of note we haven't seen a lot of spin all equity deals and You know it makes you kinda wonder if if are people are gonna wanna get some exposure On the on the equity piece with with equities coming back up So off Ever complain about movement.
