It's crammed and crapped north and 93 from Medford Square, right to the Lever connector. The north on Saturday Expressway is a 45 minute ride right now between Braintree in Boston because of all the earlier issues we had South outside. You're gonna hang up at Columbia Road that continues to Freeport Street. 95 north beyond still stop and go from the dead. Um, Street overpass to 93. I take a look at for the rest of the downtown area. Now the lever connector down wrap is tied up end to end getting out the store or drive. And that, of course, is affecting the Tobin Bridge. It is slow from the Chelsea curves to the connector. But hey, hold on. Before you get to the Tobin Route one as tough as well, Let's go right to David ST Dhoni. With the WBZ NewsRadio Road Report. Immigration Under Biden Administration: Reversing Trump's Policies

"Inskeep. Today, President Biden moves to reverse one of his predecessors. Signature acts, one that separated many Children from their parents. Donald Trump, you will remember ran on promises to build a giant border wall. He never finished, but he did impose a policy of deliberately separating parents and Children at the border. When that policy drew outrage. Officials blamed it on the Obama administration. But an investigation found, Trump's attorney general insisted on arresting migrants in a way that would separate families and didn't pay enough attention to the effects that had on Children. Now violence administration plans executive orders to change that and other policies. Which NPR White House correspondent Franco or Dhoni asses covering Franco. Good morning. Good morning, Steve. What's biting going to do differently? Well, One of the things that he's going to do is revoked Trump's actions that sought to justify this separation and the order will create this task force that will work across agencies and interest groups to help track down the missing parents of hundreds of Children. Task force will then work on the best way to reunite the kids with their parents. I guess we should mention some families were reunited. But in many other cases, federal authorities just kind of threw up their hands is gosh, we don't know how to do this or where these people are. Do they know what they're going to do now? Yeah, it's a challenging job because so many of the records aren't all there. And officials don't even know how many kids there are or who all their parents are. And there has been a lot of questions about whether the Biden administration will help bring the parents back to the United States, which the Trump administration would not do. A senior administration told me that reuniting in the United States was one of the options but that it will be a decision up to the task for us. What else is Biden announcing on immigration today? Well. One directive calls for a top to bottom review of Trump's changes to the legal immigration system, and that would include getting rid of Trump's public charge rule which prevented immigrants from getting permanent residents basically green cards if they were likely to require public benefits. And another takes a close look at border policies that includes ending requirements that migrants seeking asylum in the United States before STO wait in Mexico or another third country in Central America. That doesn't mean they can come back. The team needs to put together a new system to process asylum cases. But that's gonna take some time. So reversing Trump's executive actions is one thing. But Biden himself will face pressure from immigration advocates to do something about immigration reform, which he's already proposed to Congress. Is this going far enough for people? Yeah, There's gonna be a lot of pressure. I mean, you know, a lot of people are a lot of activists are concerned he won't fulfill his promises. And these activists frankly want Biden to do a lot more to counter all the things that Trump did to make life increasingly difficult for the 11 million undocumented people in the country. Obviously, there are a lot of pressing issues right now Cove it climate, racial equity, and these activists want to make sure immigration is not lost in the shuffle. But the Biden team says these executive actions or

Donald Trump and Joe Biden locked in tense fight to the finish

"Inskeep. Good morning across this country, local election officials are still counting ballots. Some have been at it. All night summer taking a brief break and we'll continue today. The presidential election is undecided. As we speak. Former Vice President Joe Biden has 238 electoral votes, which is short of the 270 he needs. President Trump is a bit farther from 2 70. But as enough states in play that he too, could win. We're leading with those facts, and we keep them in view at all times throughout our coverage this morning as we hear claims about them both true and false. NPR's Franco or Dhoni asses on the line. Now he covers the White House. Franco. Good morning. Good morning. I'm looking at the map here. The electoral map it NPR dot org's, which is really helpful. It's based on tallies by The Associated Press. Very conservative. Very smart calls by The Associated Press about what states are undecided in six of them seem undecided. Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia. Some of them do lean one way or the other. What is making them hard to call? Yeah. I mean, it's really been such you know such a last few hours, and there's so much to go. I mean, the states that were that made that difference or states like Florida and Arizona. I mean, there's so much going back and forth. I mean, The night was really interesting because you know, Trump started out outperforming predictions that the pollsters once again you know, those thoughts of a swift victory by Biden were quickly dashed. Trump officials were actually texting me early in the night that they were feeling deja vu from 2016. Especially when Trump took Florida, which was a must win state for the For the president. You know, he's successfully targeted Latino voters in South Florida with his message about socialism. But you know, as we know moment, um, kind of took a turn when outlets started calling Arizona for buying, which was a huge win for the Democrats. Biden spoke calling for patients and then those of us who know the president who could have covered him for so long knew he was not going to allow bite and to have the last word of the evening. And so let's hear those statements in a moment. But first, I just do want to be clear on these six states that I mentioned. We're talking here about what absentee ballots, mail in ballots. That's what's uncounted here. Yes, That's right. There's they're millions and millions of absentee valets and mail in ballots that have yet to be counted in many of these states. I want to mention just one of them. Pennsylvania. Our colleague, Pam Fessler, who covers voting noted that there's something well north of two million. I think, she said 2.5 million or so. Mail in ballots in Pennsylvania alone. That is a state the president's leading that is a state the president could really use and would take him a long way toward to 70, but that he cannot claim yet Michigan is in this similar category. There. A couple of other states that are leaning toward Biden, such as Wisconsin, at this moment in Nevada and Wisconsin has gone from tinted red tinted blue just in the last couple of hours now. In the midst of all this. There were these statements by the presidential candidates and let's hear the president first. He spoke in the early hours this morning. He had previously said he would not try to stampede a victory. He would not prematurely claim victory, and then he falsely claimed victory. Let's listen. I want to thank the American people for their tremendous support. Millions and millions of people voted for us tonight and Avery Sad Group of people. Is trying to disenfranchise that group of people and we won't stand for the president has been talking about mail in ballots, which had been used safely for years as a source of fraud. He's been doing that for months without any evidence, falsely, Franco did he present any evidence of fraud last night. No, he has not. I mean, you made that You just made the case that he's been kind of light laying the groundwork since the spring in the summer against mail in voting, you know, saying that votes shouldn't be counted after Election Day. In a way he's you know, carrying out threats that he made over the weekend, which was to go in with his lawyers, But, you know, he was pressed on this actually yesterday morning by one of his favorite programs, Fox and friends. And he clearly backed off that for threats, saying that Victor will on Ly be called when there is a victory, and so there's no reason to play games. So this is really a stunning reversal. Considering there is no victory. There is still

"You figure we spend on it just in this room just in Ms Dhoni. Whatever it is, why is it that whenever it's time to download an update, say, Mac OS, I can't do it. Why do I have to take my shoes? My machine home to be able to download an update. I've only complained the idea about this for two years. I'm going to stop paying him. That's the only way this is going to get fixed. Stop paying them. They send bills expect to be remunerated. I've got. I've got a Mac OS here up in a 4.5 gigabytes, and it's downloaded. 700 stopped. And then it'll download 10 more and stop and then download 15 more and stop and it's not going to finish anywhere. Close to the time I got to get out of here today, and I shouldn't I shouldn't have started. I should have just waited. Till I till I get home anyway, I'm sorry. Little inside baseball, but sometimes it's the only way it works. I didn't watch the apple show last night I looked up. It's the same old thing, Mr Snidely. Why spend two hours watching a video? When you can learn what you want to know, in five minutes I only cared about one thing. In that whole video yesterday. You know what it was When is the five point of the 6.7 inch? IPhone 12 Pro Mac's going to be available to pre order and when is it going to be delivered? And the answer is November, 6 and November 13. That's all I wanted to know. Cause that's the only one of the four new phones I care about. I don't care about five G because I think five G is not going to be a really thing for another year. I think most of what your phone is going to be able to get is going to be lt. Occasional speed bumps into five g territory, but the networks just haven't rolled it out. Nationwide. I'm in Verizon team. They're there, working hard at it. Don't don't misunderstand. But Apple knows that that in the old Apple would not have even included five g this year. I guarantee it. Remember when Apple did include lt They were a year behind everybody. That was because they wait for everything to be tested out. Make sure it works before they install it on their own devices. That was also back when people genuinely upgraded every year because your phone was on a contract, and so you could, But now people keep their iPhones to three, sometimes four years. So they have to put five G in before it's ready. Since people are going to buy a new phone every year, the phone they by this year. We'll be ready for five G and three years so they're now having to preinstalled things that they not a pre install, but they're having to install these, um tech upgrades sooner than they would Because the upgrade schedule has slowed down since there's no more contract. You know you either pay for the phone, full boat or you pay for it on time. Ah, in a monthly monthly payments. But back when you could have a phone in a contract, you know you would spend. Um, The phone was cheap 200 bucks and they make the rest of it up on your service over the length of your contract. It's that way of doing business doesn't exist anymore. So I didn't care about the other phones on guy. I what else was there? Other than many home. Awesome. Yeah, well, you did say it's pretty cool, Pretty cool Coffee Cup. Um, I'll tell you there was something I knew that they announced. I had no idea was coming. And this is going to be fascinating. Did you hear about this call intercom. That's going to be fat. Now Some people are going to hate it. That's just fine. You can turn it off. You don't have to use it if you don't want to, But your if you have a phone, you have an iPad. You have a home pod. I think it's going to work on every apple device except a Mac. So let's say that you're a home and you have a family of five. And your family of five. There's going total of, Let's say seven or eight IPhones and ipads. You can say If I say you could turn on this stupid home pot over there. But you trigger it with hay and then intercom. And then that triggers every other device in your house to listen. So dawn if you need to issue a warning to your daughter that she's wearing something that's unsuitable. You can do it. And she will hear you. Anybody in the house will hear you. That's cool. It's like a walkie talkie feature on the watch. Except I think it's ah It's going to be better that that I I didn't know it was coming. Okay? Audio sound bite time. We've got to get some of these because there were some strange things happening in the Amy Cockney Barrett. Hearings and a beak Loma Sharpe. Apparently just got Fulfilled. Her reputation is mean, Amy She almost loses it here on Barrett. Let's see if this is Ah, yes, affordable care. Did you know? Did you know? Did you know? Did you have a general standing? The president's campaign promise to repeal affordable care act when you were nominated you ready? No idea. Why didn't we hear? Just listen to it. This is Getting near the end here. They're getting frustrated. We're getting near the Cavanaugh, period when balls E Ford magically appeared. Just keep that in mind. Sound bite number 29 3. To the question from Chlo Bouchard. Did you have a general understanding that one of the president's campaign promises? Was to repeal the affordable care act when you were nominated. As I said before, I'm aware that the president opposes the affordable care act. I know you're aware now, But were you aware back then? Well, Senator Klobuchar, I think that the Republicans have kind of made that clear. It's just been part of the public discourse. Okay, but it just did to them. It is the answer. Yes. And you're rubbish. Are all these questions? You're suggesting that I have animus or that I cut a deal with the president? I was very clear yesterday that that isn't what happened. Who? Senator clover charities? Questions you're suggesting I have animus or that I cut a deal with the president. Very clear yesterday. That isn't what happened. I know what she's getting him. Have you made a deal with the president? Go ahead and make it unconstitutional, and you don't know that. That's what she's driving it and that's why that's why Barrett answered the way she did. She's getting I wouldn't blame frustrated challenging her integrity and her honesty here. Now. What's the Just A second? I think up. Next is Chris Coghlan, Jennifer 30. Here is Chris Coons. This is a baldheaded little guy from Delaware. I saw him at the at the funeral for George H. W. Bush. At the National Cathedral Washington Guy walked in on Who is this? That was behind him. Well, that's that's Crisco. This is the guy that was working on Jeff Flake. This is the guy trying to get Jeff Flake to go against the Republicans on Bulls E board a new FBI investigation. I was so tempted to go introduce myself, but it wass a funeral memorial. So I didn't say anything. So here is Chris Coons, Democrat Delaware. Judge Barrett talking about Contraception. When we spoke on the phone last week, you said you couldn't think of any specific issue of law where he disagreed with Justice Scalia. Do you agree with him that Griswold was wrongly decided? And the state should be able to make it illegal to use contraceptives if they so chose. Well, Senator, As I've said, a number of times I can't express of you. I think that Griswald is very, very, very, very, very, very unlikely to go anywhere in order for Creswell to be overruled. You are a state Legislature would have to pass a law prohibiting the use of birth control, which seems You know, shockingly unlikely out of nowhere. Out of nowhere. "If you eat beets, it's going to protect you from toenail fungus. If you have zucchini it's going to make you know their hair on your head. Stay. I mean, you've seen it right and it's I I don't think any sane person would say one particular food is going to treat one particular problem, but You know, Of course, we want a colorful diet and Dhoni processed foods and things like that. But with the alcohol story Once again another another. I think you you gave it one line in somebody's quote. If you're not Inclined to drink. Don't start drinking because there may be a health benefit, and I think that's again. It's It's a really picky little point, but it It does make sense. Right. And I have to say you know that this conventional wisdom on alcohol consumption I had taken it for granted. Until I wrote this article on actually looked. At the evidence and looked at the studies that called into question the observational data, you know, so there were a lot of times where you could be making you a nice, healthy meal. And you know, I have a bottle of red wine on the counter and say, Oh, well, I wasn't going to drink, but we know from research that's modern making is good for health. So why not complimented heart healthy meal with a nice small glass of heart healthy? Red wine, and I have definitely on more than enough for more than a few occasions decided to have a glass of wine simply because I believe that you know there was nothing but health benefits there. And so I'm not Saying that everyone should abstain. But, you know, you said, um you know very nicely if you're not Inclined to drink. Don't be persuaded by this notion that you should be drinking to protect your health. Right? Right. And you know another another hot area, and this applies to you. A lot of research or how consumers better behave is The alcohol. Lobby. Whether it's the beer industry or or out in your area, the you know Napa Valley and the wine grow the grape growers. Everybody's got a stake in this and It's it's It's easy to I don't want to say fall prey to their pressure, but at the same time, make them the enemy and just shut them out. So what? What do you think going forward? I should be the relationship between consumer and brands and the science. Big boy questions. Yeah, well, I think you know there's a lot that goes into that so You know for many decades had these observational studies, which you know, we now know have a lot of problems with them, in addition to the confounding issues with economic status You know, there's also the issue with you know when they compare modern drinkers to nondrinkers. Um, they later discovered that a lot of people in the court of quote, non drinking Groups, maybe former heavy drinkers. Or they may have preexisting illnesses that caused him not to drink. So there's all these issues with the observational studies that make them problematic. And so the answer to that has been well. Let's do a large, randomized controlled trial where we take equal groups of People and we randomly split them up into you Know, one group that's told not to drink and one group that's assigned to drink. You know, one or two a day when we followed him for years and see how it affected women..

"The coverage will be limited in select cities experts are complex provide differential coverage availability higher I am now in the bottom of the seventh inning of this old met Philly game I'm watching Greg make Michael what we're lined up he had great make Michael the former brave the met reliever I use a matte reliever on two occasions I don't know how to describe his wind up I can imitate it but that's not gonna help anybody listening right now but ray or Dhoni has made a tremendous and I remember one of the few moments from this game I vividly remember I don't remember the situation of the ending but I just saw it so now I know where ray or Dona is makes these great bear ham play on a little ground ball and now I know the situation it was the top of the seventh inning leading off the inning against mark Lewis the infielder and it's low ground ball to shortstop and ray bare hand Farole get some by a stride as Mick Michael pitches through the seventh inning so right now if you are keeping track at home this game is still scoreless Curt Schilling is still on the mound because it's nineteen ninety eight and not two thousand eighteen we probably would've been pinch hit for anything earlier Schilling is still on the mound dealing just put in the sleep this horrible met lineup this is not a very good meant line and shillings wind up exactly the same as I remembered from the mid two thousands basically but why would it be any different I will get back your call eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six let's go to Jim in Lincoln Park New Jersey what's up Jim degenerate gambler I'm going crazy over here we are and is expected to just all right first of all I want you to take a deep breath all right okay you took that deep breath okay now I want you to not get able for a week I don't want you to think about it for a week okay right there are things that you didn't want to tell you because I don't want you to start game plan when you don't need to okay out racing car racing I'm I'm not into the Porsche racing MMA it's the dutiful yes it we had the pleasure to bed said on Thursday records Michigan over that a little game I like me to review your class your day around at home I come home so to be honest okay mom like okay everything is canceled I do have yes my question yes I have the eighties over one on one in the house that's got to be amended if they sort of season bill do Jim is once we know what the season is once we know because right now they're still thinking one sixty two which is to be a fine think whatever you want I think positive thoughts all the time too I'm thinking it's never gonna rain it's gonna be beautiful even though it doesn't rain it's never a water supply I think that all day it's not true so once they realize okay we're good to come back once we're told we're going to come back and once M. L. B. comes up with a plan the woman the number so we have a one hundred and forty game season they'll be a new over under for you to bet on but obviously that that's gonna go away the other option is if you've got grandchildren you can have them race and not that's not a good idea thank you just a bit ago and everything now I think it's very healthy to take a nice break a sabbatical if you will and it'll save you a lot of money so that's a good thing to Marty in Westchester what's up already yes good morning Evan obviously with a lot of downtime now because of the sports topics and everything that's going on I finally got around to reading the boys of summer a couple months ago friend of mine gave me the book as a birthday present and I don't know if you read it it's one of the great books everyone read sports books otherwise I definitely highly recommend the Rachakonda obviously passed away a short time ago it's very unique in that the first half of the book deals with the dodges seasons in the early fifties leading up to their only championship season in fifty five and then the second half of the book he does in the federal interviews with a lot of the great doctor plays no this took place in seventy two that's when the book came out I was late most of the if not all the place was still alive at that point it's just a fascinating book it's a classic book I'm glad I was able to finally read it and I definitely recommend it to everybody also is another book that I read last year I had gone to see runs the photo I'd Stansky and at crane pull they made an appearance at the aerial museum on Long Island and and they will all great and I got a chance to read this for both the book he came out with a book here's the catch it's terrific he's a very good story teller most of book obviously is about the sixteen nineteen points of season tells about his relationship with Gil Hodges it was very uneven at that time because Ron for boda and I automotive to remember he was someone who spoke his mind very charismatic ball player and they just didn't see eye to eye with Gil Hodges I wanted more playing time he you know he was part of the platoon system on at sixteen nineteen and we came to really regret it as soon as he heard that Gil Hodges passed on he really felt bad about the fact that he didn't have a a better relationship with them and also talks about the early part of the roof of his career he viewed Casey Stengel as a father figure he was so much obviously when footballer first came up it's a very good book he's an excellent storyteller yeah I mean certainly love stories with the guys he played with being on the mid sixties Mets team is being on the sixteen nineteen in play for the Yankees at the end of his career boys of summer is one of those books that I probably need to re read because I think I read it as a kid I think for some book report ideas you know I'm looking for for things I'm really interested in anger read it when I was a lot younger and unfortunately I don't know that much about it but it's obviously an all time classic let's go to Ralph in Howard beach New York Kay rouse they're gonna have to go and how you doing I'm all right what's up good good I had two points but the first I didn't get to catch the match against the Astros adequately Lucy on Sunday night out of court on Friday with Palm Beach sorry I wasn't the only grief we are I thought the US was gonna really bad at both places believe or not they got a better home to west palm which is a beautiful stadium that yes the national there's a look at the top there yeah very much so I agree I agree they thought only the thing is though like the one because I was at west palm to free game there aren't that many Astros fans down here in Florida so every game is essentially a road game you know even though it's a home spring training game it dealing with a lot of Floridians a lot of new Yorkers who are down there today dealing with all of the heat for every game that they play that's obviously not going to be the case during the regular season when they got it lit well maybe less but eighty one games in the in the friendly confines of their home stadium your your your your you get you get that when I had my other point and this is unrelated to baseball I love baseball is my passion but with NC double a tournament why did they not just like you know the camp will be completely to me that's just mind blown for some B. schools I construct the all having great years like why not move into July even orders or maybe even June just move the White canceled a hold I don't know Ralph I I the answer to that is probably that it just wasn't a realistic option we're not talking about professional athletes were not talking about kids that are compensated we're talking about student athletes some of which are going to graduate before the SEC tournament takes place so I'm sure that more camera the NC double a wanted to try to figure out something to make this tournament happen I had read this morning that one of the ideas that they had which obviously wasn't a work was to just pick the sixteen best teams unfortunately that wouldn't include Hofstra that would include rockers but take the sixteen best teams are just try to have a very quick condensed tournament over this weekend and it obviously wasn't going to happen it didn't happen but one of the difference is that these other sports have is that you're you're talking about players who make money for reunions there's more flexibility to say we're gonna play the NBA season a lot later the NHL season a lot later than doing that with college kids and and remember we pay most attention to college basketball men and women's look at all the other sports that have been canceled but it the push it back they flat out cancelled it it goes back to something I talked about earlier with nineteen ninety four there feels like there was unfinished business in nineteen ninety four a lot of what ifs well we have sixty eight plus what ifs this NC double a tournament and it doesn't look like we're even going to get a bracket to tell us all right we're not playing it but here's what what it would have been and I have made it a part of that is our selfishness as sports fans to say this is what it would look like we can scream and yell about it for a day or two but I also think it does matter to these kids and it matters these coaches to say yeah you made the tournament Rutgers you made the tournament I know we can get to finish the conference tournaments that leaves some things a little open ended but from what we know here the resumes these are the teams that made it and again I I hope they reconsider because I think that service is not just a distraction for sports fans that's great and all but more than that maybe a little bit of Finnish business for some of these kids not as much if you go to a bigger school not as much for Seton hall we kinda knew they were getting in just what part what region they've been who they play things like that but it doesn't feel like that's gonna happen the Mets actually have a runner on base against Curt Schilling they're doing in the bottom of the seventh inning and Butch Huskey is at the plate who's playing right field in.
