"The massive curve inversion on 15 spreads that are the convention of your world? I mean, is this curve inversion like 78, 79, 81, 82, or is it different this time? You know, I think coming from a zero base makes it a little bit different. We've operated for most of the last 14 years in a zero rate environment. And I think to a large degree, what has built up from an inflationary perspective, what has built up from a business cycle perspective is a little bit different than anything that we've had in the past. So I do think there will be, you know, we're expecting either slow growth or a mild recession, but in either case, I think the important part that is distinctively different in this business cycle and why it may look different from a curve inversion and a blond market yield perspective is coming from the base of zero makes it different. A Debra coming into Wednesday, where do you think there is scope for surprise? I think perhaps you're going to continue to see the fed voters and the dots themselves you were talking about before I came on the segment before I came on. I think you're going to continue to see that go higher. So I think the higher sooner and for longer, just as missing the sooner right now, I still think the fed is very much on a glide path that is higher for longer. So I think you're going to see that terminal rate and that central central rate go increase. And I think the time frame for which it remains at that higher level will be a longer, longer time frame. Well, longer will come down to the data and we can talk about that time frame now. As for the peak, I think Goldman's got it at 5 to 5 25. I think others have been the same kind of ballpark. When it comes to longer Debra, I want ask you to guess where the data comes in, I want you to help us understand how you think this fed will respond to that income information. How high is the hurdle for the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates at the back end of next year? How bad would the data need to be? Well, I think you really have to see inflation, inflation is the key. So we've seen it go from 10,900 depending upon what measure you're looking at down to, let's call it 8 7 6. And so you've got two percentage points from an annualized perspective taken out of the system with 300 plus basis points in increased rates in that time frame. Now, we're on a path toward that end. So it should take less, increasing rates to get another 200 basis points. And then another beyond that. But getting down to 2%, I think, is pretty difficult. I don't think you get there quickly. And I think the fed will have to look at the data and sacrifice to some degree the inflationary side of it, maybe they get to three or 4%, but I don't think they want to sink the country into a more severe recession. And as such, I think that they will likely have a time frame when they have to sort of weigh the differences between am I going to have inflation and other 1% lower, but a recession that's maybe two or three or 4% worse or do we think this is an okay place to stop for now. And I think that takes us well into 2024. Deborah Khan again, a Federated Hermes fantastic as always, Tom, this is the conversation right now, high for longer. It's the longer piece of the high for longer phrase, whether it's greater than when you have a market pricing and cuts in a Federal Reserve is basically saying we have nothing to do with it. I mentioned this in a previous hour I mentioned it again for people just tune again. Cray Torres and Liz Kappa McCormick add on Bloomberg over the weekend with this article. Over the last 5 interest rate cycles, the average hold of the peak rate was 11 months. 11 months. And when you go back to the 95 cycle ton. They held for 5 months. Peak rate is 6% and they went back to 5 25. And you wonder if we do get a reset Tom? Is it a reset of recent memory where you go all the way back down again or is it just kind of an adjustment away from 5 Baghdad to something like four? To the strength of their article or one of our bond axis with a great Craig tour of economics is nobody has a clue. Of course, I think what I would say, John, is look at consensus and be very wary of it and consensus has been that we come down with some rapidity. And I just am like, okay, maybe. We don't have a crystal ball. No one does. And my question really is not about where you think the economic data is going to be. It's how you think the fed will react to it. It's a reaction function. I think the fed is going to react on a reality that they don't look at 3.7% is any type of success. That's not mission accomplished. Hugely. And to me, that's the heart of the matter and the heart of our discussion on Wednesday as well. We've got dharam coming up. Good. And FX need that. Looking forward to that. "Let's talk about why you are so famous today. It's your fight for the truth, especially against Russia collusion the way that weapon was used against president Trump falsely. Let's start at the beginning what happened 5 years ago in this nation. What does the event? The election of a man who never run for political position before who'd had no relations to the swamp, what is the significant of Donald Trump's victory in 2016 congressman? Well, he ran as the outsider who was going to make America great again, and he did that. He accomplished so much. Most successful president certainly in my lifetime, maybe in the history of this great country, and he did it. So many things he said he was going to do that he actually got done, which was just amazing because he got him done in spite of every Democrat in his town against him. Everyone in the mainstream press against him. Everyone in the bureaucracy against him, and a bunch of Republicans against him and in spite of that accomplished so much. So it was that's why this town thought him so much. He came in here and really took on the swab, upset the apple cart, pick whatever metaphor you want. But he did it, and that was such a threat to the establishment to the people who think they're smarter than us regular folks who think they run this town in came a guy from the outside who said, no, I'm going to defend America first. We know we're the greatest nation in history. We're going to fight for the values and principles that make us great. And we're going to get control of our border. We're going to cut taxes. We're going to grow our country. He did it. So it was huge. And the American people were yearning for that kind of leader. And now that we have Joe Biden, they realize, oh my goodness, how good we had it and how bad this guy is and what we've seen in just ten

"Little story, the whole thing that the Democrats saying that Trump was colluding with Russia reminds me of a story my grandad used to tell me. About being congratulated during The Great Depression for making a $100,000 in the stock market, and he said he appreciated the congratulations, but it was not a 100,000. It was only 50, and it wasn't the stock market. It was a bond market. And he didn't make the money. He lost it. And that's kind of the story with the Democrats. There was collusion here that was collusion among the Democrats to put a false story on to Donald Trump and to insure that FBI investigated him. You ask a question earlier, why did they keep doing it after the election? The initial the Hillary Clinton's goal was to get elected. And none of this would have come out. Had she been elected while all been buried. But after the election, it was useful to the Democrats because as long as they could keep floating the story with media support, they could tie up the Trump presidency and prevent him from doing anything, and that's exactly what they tried to do. You're not alone here, Kimberly strassel, she's the award winning columnist with The Wall Street Journal in a column just last week, titled Hillary Clinton's Russian helpers. She makes the point that it's quite conceivable that the central role of the Democrats were involved here in every aspect of the steel dossier and the FBI investigation. My guest is professor Charles lipson from the University of Chicago. Now, Trump recently said in an interview that the dharam findings are quote only going to get deeper and deeper and Trump will no doubt use these indictments to justify his point that he was subjected to a political witch hunt which could astonishingly fuel his political comeback. But let's take a step back here. He's in a true still Charles that Trump did have shady dealings with Russia and moreover, remember several Trump campaign officials. You think about Paul Manafort, the campaign chair. His national security adviser Michael Flynn, they themselves have been indicted and they went to jail, Charles lipson. Manafort, I think was quite vulnerable. The problem with Flynn was that he was a very senior espionage agent in the U.S.. He ran a whole defense intelligence. So if the clanton people really had been involved in dirty tricks like this, he would have found it out as Trump's national security adviser. They had to get rid of him and pin him down. So he couldn't look at anything. And that's exactly what they did. There were there was a little bit of outreach to Russia, but the basic claim of Russia collusion was that Trump worked with the Kremlin work with Putin's people, to get elected fraudulently..

"America. First with sebastian. Gorka failure to enforce laws that exist in the united states lisa chaos thank chaos lease to inhumanity. The body ministration is a manmade disaster of inhumanity of epic proportions a manmade disaster of in humanity of epic proportions. That was the governor of texas. Greg abbott just moments ago before we started the show very excited to welcome our first guest here on america first freedom fighter power excellence on capitol hill former chairman of the intelligence committee representing california's. Twenty second district congressman. devin nunes. welcome back to america. I always a pleasure thank you yes indeed. My friends call me sea bass. Don't ask why so. It's a special reason we've got to talk about dr. We talk about the only time to come out after almost two years. But first things first your reaction to the tragic footage coming out of the haitians under the bridge and del rio and then today what happened. Now with the un. He's leaving biden. Says we're going to get it under control. I thought they fixed the border that we broken. The trump administration congressman. Well like always there up you skating. And they're hoping that the press covers them. I mean the challenge that they have now is becoming impossible because there's so many people at the border remember. You've got the del rio crossing where the haitians are. But you still have multiple other crossings where there's thousands of people a day that are coming across. I was just down there a couple a couple of months ago. It just never stops never stops because the binding administration changed the rules on where you can apply and how you can apply for asylum. That's all that's going on here so I would like to know how these haitians all arrived here. It has to be that they paid money to the drug cartels. Essentially what you have. Is you have the drug cartels running people into the united states of america where this is now a money making scheme and and i say that not to go into something This was the california border. But just a just a month ago or so. I was down there and i ran into people and i thought they spoke spanish and then i realized they didn't speak spanish at all. It was because the cartels had brought them from romania of all places family so so this is now a mexican drug cartels running a money making operation and the by the administration refuses to do anything about it. So guess what the more money that can be made the more you will get it. And so the cartels. I'm sure are running boats and planes as we speak just plugging the pipeline and putting money in their pockets. What do you think of the idea that republican governors along the borders. You simply deployed there and national guard elements. Well look they already have down in texas already have to some degree. I mean you can bet that in california and new mexico. They will not do that because they're blue states run by left-wing governors But the governor of texas As i understand is doing everything he can within the law. When i was down there They were they were putting people down there and the the texas rangers were down there. But look you know the the governor. The state of texas is a big but really hard for them to secure the border. I mean it's hard to secure the border at all. And i think that's why you're seeing the state of texas moved to finish the wall which you know at least if you've finished the wall it's not one hundred percent cure but it does allow the border patrol. That's down there to focus on the problem areas and really target the drug cartels. But look until you change the laws back to the way they were and implement that you that you can't apply for asylum in the united states. The you're just there's too much money in this right. Yeah people paying anywhere from ten to fifty thousand dollars per person To get delivered to the border to claim asylum. Yeah just moments ago governor. Abbott said that texas is arresting anybody who trespasses on private as well as public land. But of course it is a manpower issue. Follow this man. Nunez dot house dot gov on twitter at devon newness and check out. The incredible movie made about his fight for the truth on the russia collusion hoax. It's plot against the president. That's pat movie dot com. That's plot against the president. Based upon the superb book by the same name written by lee smith. A have to ask you since the news broke. Serve after we last spoke. Is this arrest of Some lawyer nobody's heard of before who liked to the fbi about the pp dossier the sources for that opposition research. Does this mean anything goes. Just john dharam with little fig-leaf to show us he did something in the last two years. Well as you know. We've talked about this a lot on your show dr. I am the one who has been actually very supportive of durham. I have thought for a long time that the fact that there are no leaks coming out. I thought this was a good sign. And i would say this that. That sussman was the target of our investigation and in fact in that twenty-seven pages died. Which if you haven't read it it's really worth reading because it's much different than what you see for lying to the fbi Indictments typically. they're pretty short. And its when you've been interviewed by the fbi. This is totally different. And there's so much in that indictment that a lot of folks that cover the russia hoax closely Have discovered new information now. We always knew that the way this was working a a laundering type of operation by the clinton campaign where they use lawyers to launder money And hire people so that they can go do nefarious things. Now look all campaigns. You know throughout history. Have all done this. That's no secret but the difference here is that they went to feed this into their buddies at the fbi. And that's so sussman and a lot of ways is the traffic cop. He was the one that was ordered to do it. So now the question is has anyone in the campaign is sussman. Gonna say i just did it or ultimately when put under oath and interviewed is he going to say well. It wasn't me. I was told to do it. And that really is the question so you know. He talked in court last week. Let's see what he actually says When when he has to testify but given the the only other indictments so far was the low level. Fbi lawyer who forged the cia document to obtain the feis warren despite inkatha page he didn't spill the beans on anybody and there's no way a low level. Fbi lawyer forge the cia document with or without being ordered to buy komeito brennan. So do you have hopes.

"Newsrooms in america Our our liberal people and they increasingly weird on their sleeves it infects the stories. They choose detail and it taints the way they tell those stories with me. Very conspicuous bias. And so they were all in And really tragic for journalism is a whole is. They abandoned any semblance of fairness and objectivity and neutrality And they either. They relied principally on their anonymous sources without doing things like finding a separate source or independently investigating the veracity of what they ru being fed and most of their sources were simply lying to And in many cases you know the journalist jump runniice conclusions on their own by being sloppy and unethical. Or did they actually. Yeah wittingly at join into a propaganda campaign. The two books are witch hunt and the russia hoax. Check them out right now greg. Let's let's jump in with all the Materials that you have worked on so diligently that provide the backbone to Your works and you'll publications and your op ed pieces and everything you do at fox talk to us about the utility of let's talk about special counsels. Let's talk about mullah. Let's talk about the mysterious. John dharam. I don't know if he actually exists as a figment of somebody's imagination. And then i g reports. That i put them all out. I read them and they're fascinating and the detailing their rarely makes it into any media coverage from the legacy media but what is the utility of three hundred page. I drew report. On hillary clinton or russia hoax is when they seem to have zero consequence. So let let's talk about the mechanics of a bureaucracy and how we become as a hungarian. Philosophy used the phrase to describe post-communist nations after the the fall of the berlin wall where nobody was punished for. Anything have we become we becoming greg. A nation a land of no consequences in many ways. I think you're right about that. I've never been a fan of independent counsels or a special prosecutor were given carte launch and know for people who've read both my books witch hunt and the russia hoax predicted With the appointment of baller that he would find zero evidence of collusion. And i i also said wait a minute. Let's examine the facts here. There's no obstruction of justice. Under the law and i went through the fax compared to the law and drew the inexorable conclusion that too was a hoax in both turned out to be true. Let let me ask on muller. Because his tests and they're still people think he faked his doddering testimony. I don't think so. I think that man was not in control who ran the mullahs pro. Was it vaisman what it seems to me. That muller was a figurehead. What what is your conclusion as to. Who really call the shots. All i think it's true i think he was Suffering cognitive difficulties. It was readily apparent during his testimony. Afterwards look the first thing muller did when he was appointed in a he should never have been appointed as i explained the book multiple conflicts of interest that prevented him from doing so and not only that mere appointment was in violation of the special counsel but once he was appointed the first thing he did was call up andrew weissmann weisman was a guy who was hillary clinton Pretend supposed election party on election night in two thousand sixteen. We're in the end. She lost and he's a partisan and the kind of guy who hates trump so he he was appointed to basically lead the muller special counsel investigation and muller left it to weisman to handpick all of the people on the staff and they were you know ninety three percent of them were liberal trumpeting in a partisan and and yet that team composed as they were could still find no evidence of collusion between trump and russia. And we're forced to admit it in the report. But i think you're right about bob muller i mean i'm not even sure. He was acquainted with the report that was published under his name. It's clear that he he didn't know what was published under his name when his response to the questions on on capitol hill. He just simply didn't talk to us about the utility of the the south policing of bureaucracy. Is there any validity to inspector general's g reports. And what is your prediction or. Do you have any expectation that john dharam will deliver anything when it comes to the russia hoax. Well what point. I was optimistic. The durham would end up doing the right thing and crossing all the people. Identify my books as having in my judgment broken. The wall surface originally prosecutor one person who who clearly fabricated documents to implicate donald trump. but i-. Jeez i do. I do think they have great value because many of them not all but many of them have uncovered wrongdoing and illegal conduct And i think it's necessary to have a watchdog within a particular agency whether it be you know within the department of justice inclusive of the fbi are elsewhere Because you know. Our bureaucracy is so enormous there's so many people that there will be some malevolent characters who abused their positions of power for either personal or political gain. And that's certainly what we saw in the great witch hunt. The books are the witch hunt and the russia hoax. Get them. if you haven't read them you need to read them and follow this man at his website and on twitter as well great. Let since you've been doing you've been a watchdog for decades now. Can you tell us when it comes to the balance sheet of corruption Is it totally bipartisan. Or do we see more of it when a democrat is in control chairman of a committee. What what's what's the trend line being. I mean there's always enough corruption to go around on both sides of the aisle. But i think democrats demonstrably Have a greater track record of Engaging in illicit activity In in many ways because they can get away with it. They're partnered with the mainstream media and that has the ability to drive the narrative in the nation which furthers You know a certain level of corruption and so yeah. I mean you're always gonna find people of republicans democrats independents in in american politics who will breach their sacred duty of trust now and that's a shame. There is another individual. Who's a very good friend of the show. Another truth teller products alonso. He's america's mare and he's trying to uncover what happened in the last election. The left as the result is trying to destroy him. Please favor to me. If you like this show please support our good buddy rudy. Giuliani goto rudy. Giuliani freedom fund dot com. "Did say that there is ample evidence entity there is of collusion of people in the trump campaign with the russians. Loads of evidence everywhere from a man with top secret clearances. You've written two books. The russia hoax in the witch hunt. Whatever did you find of any kind of collusion on either side greg. Well zero collusion. On the part of donald trump with the kremlin would i did see was collusion among various characters in our government the author of the dossier and the hillary clinton campaign and our acolytes to frame donald trump for crimes. They made up that he never committed. Adam schiff is you just played it truly one of the most notorious liars and biggest fools in washington and among that crowd. That's saying a lot but he's head and shoulders above everybody else. I take direct. Aim at him in this little thing called witch hunt story the greatest mass delusion in american political history and he was one of the big proponents of the russia hoax. He drove in many ways. His books is incredible books The russia the russia hoax and witch hunt as well as his webpage with the greg. Jarrett dot com greg. I'm a it's a kind of perennial issue. The the depth of the swamp the breadth of the swamp the breadth of the corruption Now they're saying they using the phrase big lie to tower. Anybody who asked questions about the last election today. We have reports out of the uk over now. The laptop hunter biden Lost which had videos of him with drug dealers and i. I'm not even going to go through the details again. we ever you've mapped all of this. Is there ever going to be a resolution. Let's start with with john dharam. Does john dharam even exist at this point disappointingly He does but we haven't heard from him and you know the the longer this goes on The less optimistic i that he is going to hold people accountable And you know. I i have the same feeling about you. Know hunter biden. Joe biden incorrupt business deals and influence peddling. I'm glad you brought that up up. Sebastian i mean you know you watched it. I was on sean hannity last night and he played the three minutes of video clip. Where hundred biden's naked talking with a hooker and you know and confessing. Your e thinks. The russians stole one of his three laptops. He lost all three of them. I mean think about this if the russians stole the laptop is hunter implies they blackmail joe and hunter biden at the very least. They tried to blackmail him or are they holding in the laptop containing all kinds of potentially incriminating information to leverage as a bargaining chip against the president of the united states to the detriment of the american citizens. He you know. The president would be susceptible to blackmail in three ways the salacious videotapes themselves on the laptop which would be embarrassing to biden sensitive government information contained on the laptop which we know joe biden sending his son who doesn't have security clearance so and then of course any any evidence of corrupt business deals involving jill and hundred biden and on one of the laptops there is a plethora of incriminating documents. "Was on it to visit afghanistan. Just five years after nine eleven i traveled to four different provinces to see what was going on and at the end of my tour of the provinces i ended up back in kabul at the isaf headquarters then i was taken from the isaf. The international security force to the military academy america built in afghanistan and i was very impressed by the young officer. Who was my chaperone. Who was my briefer straight out of central casting. Six foot one blonde fit and his name taps had strong. Yeah major strong belief it on may strong briefed me gave me the command group briefing on the success of the afghan miniature academy america built along with her nato partners and it was really very impressive. I mean you know. I'm used to death by pipe. Powerpoint having spent six and a half seven years as a dod civilian and then on the faculty of the marine corps universities. Five seen a lot of powerpoint presentations in the military mode. But this was a good one. How much was invested each year. How many nco's how. Many offices were passed out from our training academy to become members of the afghan national security forces. But then i decided to dig a little deeper. Not just to take the word of the official power points. I sniffed around in a little bit to find out. What is the true impact of what we had done. In that nation a nation that the british couldn't conquer the soviets couldn't come come from the blue eyed redhead. White skinned afghans. Find find today. not alexander could conquer. Yeah they do exist. It's really quite something to say in the middle of herat in the middle of water that province. A caucasian redhead with colleagues. You would see in dublin as much as you'd see anywhere else. What did we think we're going to achieve just one metric for you. I found out of every passing out plus every intake of offices junior. Nco's senior nco's that had gone through some form of training small unit tactics leadership. What have you that we had graduated off. They received their last per d. m. Pay in cash of course nice crisp green american dollars more than forty percent of them up. They passed out from our kademi disappeared from the ranks of the nsf from the ranks of the afghan machosky forces and went back to that tribal regions to join their local militias and their local offshoots of the taliban

Durham Report into Trump-Russia Investigation: Has It Uncovered Criminal Activity?

"John solomon so much. This guy's first things first you've reported about it devin. Newness intimated kit kit. It be the dharam report is finally going to be released. There are certainly a lot of signs that durham is in the final stages his investigation. I've talked to people that have talked to him or lawyers that are representing people. There's been a lot of activity a lot of writing a lot of questions. A lot of follow up and the real question is. Are we just going to get a report telling us what we know happened or might we get some criminal charges. Devin nunes think there'll be some criminal charges that's consistent with some of the behavior i've seen had going on with grand jury activity and other things but you know there are other also intimations that just going to be a report. We'll have to wait and see no matter what it is. We waited for it a longtime nearly three years. It will be nice to finally get the complete story of what really went wrong in the russia collusion investigation but this this went from being an administrative report to being a criminal one over a year ago so if if it if it was converted. Surely that only happens when you have evidence of some kind of punitive crime. No john there's no doubt they had evidence of a crime. Clearly we saw already right one. Fbi or former fbi pleaded guilty to falsifying evidence. There's clearly other evidence of crimes. The question is in this political environment. Can they get an indictment by a grand jury in a city like washington or new york. Which are the two most likely indictment locations. That's a question we don't know But you know the facts clearly layout other examples of fraud or deception. Intentional deception of pfizer. Court the only question is can they get a grand jury to do it. What i have seen though is very thorough evans. A very thorough investigation. John durham has been working every angle. For for many many

The Big 10 has not Mr season since it was created in 18 96 playing through the Spanish flu pandemic and two world wars. The absence of college football this year also portends a major economic fallout. According to ESPN, canceling an entire college football season for power. Five schools could result in billions of dollars of revenue lost those estimates Conservative. They exclude potential losses in corporate partnerships and media revenue for local communities such as Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, whose names are synonymous with the universities and college football programs They host The economic impact could be devastating. There is really nothing like Columbus on a false Saturday, but it just goes to show you the severity of this pandemic. City Council member Emanuel Rimi is the chair of economic development in Columbus, Ohio, home to the Ohio State Buckeyes. He's concerned for local businesses in the region. Power Five programs like the Buckeyes could collectively lose $303 million in revenue on Game day spending, according to ESPN. That has ramifications for the local economy. It's devastating to those campus bars and restaurants and retailers that rely on game day. Revenue from some estimates that up to 50% of their annual revenues come from game days anywhere, you might go after a game wraps up to shop and hang out. Might not survive. I think it would be unrealistic not to think that there could be closures as a result of missing out on the season. Dante Lucas, he helps to run one of those local businesses. He's the director of operations at Champs Sports Grill, a bar and eatery in State College, Pennsylvania. Home of the Big 10 school. Penn State. We really based our year upon probably about 10 weekends. Seven of them are football weekends in the fall when the football weekend in this spring So taking that away from us really, really, really hurts us chance is one of those local bars trying to survive the pandemic in the postponement of the fall football season marks just another financial blow. We weren't surprised. But it doesn't mean we're any less devastated. I just think it's been exaggerated and ATT. Least in our case. Ronald Philip Ellie is state colleges. Mayor, he says Penn State football brings in huge revenue for the town believes with a limited fan base and student body this fall Covert 19 It's still the town's biggest problem was my assumption, and I think the assumption of many others They would play without fans. The fans aren't here. They're the ones who patronize the local businesses. The issue of whether or not you play in my mind doesn't really mean that there's going to be a different economic impact. Think about the impact on municipalities like State College. We've lost a tremendous amount of money as a result of the Pan Derek For example, our parking revenues of dharam practically a $1,000,000 Sure for State college. They're hoping a Corona virus relief bill can help them get through this fall in that there's money for municipalities like us. Help us cover the costs of the pandemic. We need that money for these local towns of fall without college football is unprecedented and economically devastating, but their top priorities like that of every other town in America. Getting the fire is under control. But we can hope for us people follow health guidelines. And let's get this thing over with her back to reality and some sort of normalcy and 2021 not every business is likely to survive the cancellation of the fall season. These college sports town's air, hoping inventing together to fight the corona virus that many will be ableto weather the storm and survive until football comes back within six months to a year's time and stayed will bounce back. Stay college will bounce back champs will bounce back Reporting for perspective. I'm Eric Mollo, ABC News

I think it would be unrealistic not to think that there could be closures as a result of missing out on the season. Dante Lucas, he helps to run one of those local businesses. He's the director of operations at Champs Sports Grill, a bar and eatery and State College, Pennsylvania. Home of the Big 10 school. Penn State. We really base Ah, year upon probably about 10 weekends. Seven of them are football weekends in the fall. Everyone's a football weekend in spring. So taking that away from us really, really, really hurts us chance is one of those local bars trying to survive the pandemic and the postponement of the fall football season marks just another financial blow. We weren't surprised. But it doesn't mean we're any less devastated. I just think it's been exaggerated and ATT. Least in our case. Ronald Philip Ellie is state colleges mayor, He says Penn State football brings in huge revenue for the town but believes with a limited fan base and student body this fall Covert 19 It's still the town's biggest problem was my assumption, and I think I'm sure, many others. They would play without fans. The fans aren't here. They're the ones who patronize the local businesses. The issue of whether or not you play in my mind doesn't really mean that there's going to be a different economic impact. Think about the impact on municipalities like State College. We've lost a tremendous amount of money as a result of the Pan Derek For example, our parking revenues of Dharam practically a $1,000,000 Sure, State college. They're hoping a Corona virus relief bill can help them get through this fall in that there's money for municipalities like us. Help us cover the costs of the pandemic. We need that money for these local towns of fall without college football is unprecedented and economically devastating, but their top priority is like that of every other town in America. Getting the fire is under control. We can hope for is people follow health guidelines. And let's get this thing over with him back to reality and some sort of normalcy and 2021. Not every business is likely to survive the cancellation of the fall season. But these college sports town's air hoping and banding together to fight the Corona virus that many will be ableto weather the storm and survive until football comes back within six months to a year's time and stayed will bounce back Stay. People in their 20s are injecting face fillers to look like their selfie filters

"This. Marketplace podcast is brought to you by the university of Florida Warrington college of business transform your future with an MBA from one of America's top ten universities. Learn more at Warrington dot ufl dot EDU slash MBA. People in their twenties and thirties are getting injections to look more like their selfie filters from American public media. This is marketplace tech demystifying the digital economy. I'm Ali would. Selby's are an art form on social media. But some young people aren't happy with just a Snapchat or Instagram filter. They want the lip cheek and forehead injections. So that their real life faces match the doctor itself fees. The American Academy of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery says there's been a twenty percent increase in botox injections among eighteen to thirty seven year olds in the last five years. Marketplace reporter, Eric embarrassed, it's reporting on this recently. And she told me that the makers of injectable fillers which smooth out the lines on your face like a photo filter. Does are starting to spend a lot more money on social media marketing, our Gan, which is the company that makes boat talks makes Juve Dharam does cool sculpting. That's where they're paying influencers to do a lot of the work. So people are on Instagram anyway, looking at other people's faces all the time. And then they're seeing people that they might follow women that they might look up to. And they're seeing that they also were are actually, you know, talking. About these things, you know, they're like hash tagging Sunday afternoon. Hashtag tocks hashtag filter. Hashtag fillers. You know, the whole thing. Yeah. Tell me more specifically about what people are getting done like what specific procedures than what are people trying to look like. So the most basic thing that most people are getting done is just getting, you know, likable talks injection that kind of freezes your face and kind of makes you look relaxed. But then after that there's a lot of small spas that have opened up that are offering things like institute, which is some stuff that you can get put in your cheeks that give you like sort of a higher cheekbone. You can get your lips done and make them a little bit plumper a lot plumper. There's all kinds of stuff that you can get done. I understand that one woman told you she really has heard of people asking to look more like the filters that they have seen on social media. Right. Yeah. So one woman I spoke with who's Twenty-seven-year-old in Rhode Island. And she says she just gets her lips done. She gets imbo both talks. But it's pretty like normalized amongst her group of friends, and she has a couple. They get a little shot of Duve Derm in the tip of their nose. It makes them look a little bit like that Snapchat filter, and I just thought that was kind of fascinating like the idea that you wanna look like what your online reflection looks like do you have a sense of whether any of the doctors are ethically conflicted about this. Do they resist it at all? Yeah. So I did talk to one doctor who actually is the head of one of the plastic surgery. National plastic surgery associations in Memphis, and he refuses to give anyone any kind of injectable or bow talks unless they medically need it or if they're under a certain age. So he's adamant lead not doing it. But at the same time, he knows that there's like clinics just right up the street that you can just walk into. I think the big part of it is is that because you know, it's it's an elective procedure. It's a lot of money. And so you're budgeting thousand or two thousand a year, you know, it can be hard to say no to that. Erica barris is a reporter with marketplace. Last year. Researchers at the Boston University school of medicine Warren. About what they called Snapchat, Dismore FIA and said, it could lead to body Dismore fic- disorder, a mental illness that causes people to obsess about their imagined defects. And now for some related links head over to our website. Marketplace tech dot org for a link to a longer story that Erica did about this four marketplace and more stories about Snapchat, Dismore, Fiat, and how it has plastic surgeons worry earlier this year doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital published a guide for cosmetic practitioners to help them figure out when they're dealing with someone who is beyond normal discontent with their appearance and onto the obsessive compulsive spectrum that is body this Morphing disorder their research that as many as thirteen percent of people seeking cosmetic surgery have the disorder and in a fun. Fact, I learned that dissatisfaction with your appearance is so common in basically, everyone that researchers call it quote normative discontent. There is a hopeful story from Taylor Laurenz over at the Atlantic though from just a couple of weeks ago about how even though those twenty and thirty somethings or getting the nose injections, look more like their filters. The next generation. Of influencers is actually rejecting the carefully edited super stylized aesthetic, and they're going for a quote, Messier and more unfiltered vibe, the story quotes, a fifteen year old influencers who says that avocado toast and posts on the beach are generic and played out and that it's not cool anymore to be manufactured. So maybe the children really are our future. Unless allergen comes calling with the big check. I'm Ali would. And that's marketplace tech. This is a PM.
