"Bit by bit. The tough thing is the 2020 was supposed to be her year. It was supposed to be in No Time to Die and blond, and deep water, I believe. And we also had real hope for all of those films. She wasn't a lot of ways the best part of No Time to Die. I thought she was wonderful in it. I had a lovely time watching deep water. I don't think anyone else did, but that's okay. It was a gift to me. You had a nice time. I had a blast. Yeah. I mean, it's very silly and they clearly took the movie away from Adrian line and hacked it to bits, but I enjoyed myself. Yeah. The gray man was not good as previously discussed on many episodes of this podcast. But she wasn't the worst part of it. Classic case of I have no idea why you wanted to do this. I had nothing to do that was interesting. Maybe had one cool scene just like a complete vacuum of her talent. Yes, except I do think that No Time to Die on locked. Charismatic action star as a possible path forward for her. So I can see why she maybe wanted to try it if that's the avenue that she's going down. And I'm having seen blondes that seems more appealing to me than ever making another movie anywhere close to blond. I mean, yikes. Really not her fault. No, not her fault. But yeah, blond, one of our least favorite movies of the year. She does have a big film coming up next year called ghosted, which is Dexter Fletcher who directed Bohemian Rhapsody and it's written by warnick and Reese, who were guests on the show around spider head and who have written some of the biggest movies of the last ten years. I like those guys a lot. Chris Evans, Adrien Brody, the armistice on an Apple film. Could be good. Action adventure movie. She's also 34 turns 35 and about 5 months. So this is de la vie. That's it. You're done, Anna. Thank you for everything you've done. We'll see you on the 35 over 35 list.

"We're gonna be talking about the films of director guy ritchie More specifically lock stock and two smoking barrels snatch revolver rockin roller sherlock holmes sherlock holmes a game of shadows. We're gonna be skipping over man from uncle just because we did review that on the regular podcast and you can get that on i tunes and then we're gonna end off with king arthur legend of the sword up personal favorite of mine and so first off. My name is henry and No khloe this time around but we are joined once again by our good buddy jacob hours or jacob number one as he's known on the show as well so jacob. Thanks for coming on general problem but it'd be back yeah and And first off. Thank you so much for downloading and for for donating all of the the funds. Go to help support the the weekly show and so we really really appreciate it. And yeah so unlike the regular podcast. Were just going to be doing reviews. We're not going to be doing news or listener questions or anything this time around. But that's okay because we got plenty to talk about. So i guess we can start off jacob your guy ritchie's your favorite director ran. Yeah one of them yeah. It's pretty up there. Yeah and so how did you. I guess we can start off by when we were first. Exposed to the work of richie. Well the first movie i ever saw by him was sherlock holmes. But i didn't know that guy ritchie. At the time the first movie. I watched knowing it was guy ritchie was snatch i was like. It's movie seems cool. Disguising school and so i watched it and i was like wow. That's incredible and then. I started watching all his films found out he did sherlock holmes and i was like makes a lotta sense. But yes technically sherlock. Holmes was the first one i saw. But that was way back in high school. When i really care as much i don't really care about like directors and producers. What what do they do. It's kind of funny like people that aren't like really into movies you know. They're just like honor who directed that yeah directors are dislike some faceless background people. You know them well. It wasn't until hitchcock when directors were actually like credited or became famous for being directors. Because before then everybody thought that was just the actors that made the movie good so you know what are the directors do. Yeah but direct nothing. Yeah so i think. The first one i saw was the second sherlock holmes and i i didn't know it was guy ritchie. Either and then. I think i just went back to the first one. And then i think i saw snatch and then i think king arthur was After that and then just recently went back. I mean lock stock revolver and rock and roll. Were all first time watches for me. So i've been meaning to go through them for ages now. some. I'm glad we we did this. It's also funny because i I saw snatch before. I still lock stock in barrels. And i had lock stock on. Dvd for a decade or more Belonged to my older sister. And i inherited that and i just i just. It's just in storage for the longest time. And then when i saw snatch all guy ritchie lock stock guy ritchie. I was like i have that. just went. pulled it out and watched in glorious dvd quality. Yeah it's i was just lost my train of thought here I he said oh. Yeah that's right. So we are doing this in honor of aladdin coming out which comes out this friday which riches directing the the live action very controversial. I remake of disney's aladdin. But i'm really intrigued. You will apparently the first first reviews have been all right. You know better than expected so go the way of of king arthur. You know you're gonna you're gonna like it or you're not if you're a fan of guy ritchie style. You're probably going to like it if you don't know who guy ritchie is or you don't know anything about his style. And you're just going to see a remake of disney classic. Then maybe won't like it as much what. You has a very specific way of doing things. Yeah you know. i'm. I'm just hoping that it's very guy. Ritchie like. Yeah know not not. Just like subdued guarantee those shots from the trailer of like aladdin break-dancing. This is really yeah could be interesting. Yeah well all right. Well i guess we can go ahead and jump ben to the the first film that really that started it all for ritchie which was lock stock and two smoking barrels and this one came out in nineteen ninety. Eight and Grossed twenty eight point million against a budget of one point three five million so yeah really launched him into only one point three five million yeah launched him in to commercial success then also a seven episode. Tv show followed this in two thousand. I don't know if there was any good. I haven't seen it. Have you lock slunk. Yeah it was called lock. Stock dot dot dot. I i did had a tv show snatch that tv. Show i really. Oh yeah yeah. Yeah i had no idea that lock stock did snatch. Tv shows good. Yeah the rupert grin ron weasley and the yeah the movie stars jason fleming. Jason tham sting is in this movie. dexter fletcher. Nick moran and this. One i didn't realize until going back through his films guy ritchie discovered jason state. So that's pretty cool. I mean and just looking at where jas jason stadium is now. It's pretty big deal. Hobson shaw yeah can't most anticipated of the year but and yeah and so st them was a former diver. I didn't know that about him. So that was pretty interesting but Like i said this was the first time. Watch for me. It was on netflix And i popped it in and watch shit but jacob. What's your take on this one Like i said. I watched this one. After i saw snatch in my opinion this movie walks. So that snatch can run as it were They're very similar in style. I two movies. He made Lock stock and then he made snatch correct between yes so he pretty much kept with the same style you know it's got like Why did cast of characters intertwining plotlines comedy Checkups gone all over the place literally. Yeah cheeky romances. As back and i. It's just you know. If if if one day you know i get to direct some movies i would say that guy ritchie and matthew. Von like my biggest. Inspirations like their styles to stare similar. Yeah i've just you know that's that's my vision for you. Don't wanna copy guy ritchie. But that's the i. I just love his style. Things you know just Big ensemble films with zany to cross paths. And yeah you know. It's very when you look at the script for lock stock and i. It's actually very complex. Everything fits together. Yeah very.

Rhapsody had so much promise before. Sacha baron cohen left meet. Yeah no. I kind of agree with that bryan singer was too far. Gone and dexter fletcher. Couldn't save it. It seemed like a more faithful bio-pic of that retelling of the history of queen as opposed to the rest of the band making an ad for queen albums. Yeah that's the problem with all of these. The estate is usually involved right. And they never want the filmmakers to portray the protagonist any kind of negative. Light it just. It doesn't tell the they never. They hardly ever tell the real stories. And that it's a bummer. You know kinda lesser for it. And that's why. I think i don't gravitate to that. I'd like watching them. I do like at home. But i don't gravitate to those theater for that reason. I think it's all claim when you when you censor real life but it's not even a matter of censoring. It's a matter of absolutely shuffling and rearranging the order in which events happened like. That's and that's the.

"Came out in nineteen seventy six. It was a movie directed by alan parker in stars. Jodie foster scott baeau who We have also briefly even happy days. Florence garland john cassisi. Bonnie langford dexter fletcher among others. It was nominated for one oscar for best music original song score and its adaptation or best adaptation score which like great is such a long term. I don't actually know what it means. And they don't call it that anymore. So had something to do with music and box office receipts. Were not really track. Like they are today in nineteen seventy six but we do know it was not much of a hit in the united states however in my research i've seen it was a huge hit in the united kingdom. I saw one article mentioned that children in ethiopia have grown up with this movie. I've also seen. It was a hit in japan so apparently this is a movie that was well loved just not in the united states. I mean the plot was all. Us his history. I mean loose. Us and it was a little bit back in the day and seems like perfect american musical. I know and if you are not familiar with this period in american history and honestly. I don't know why you would be united states like yeah. It's kind of a. It's wildly doing yeah. It was forty years in the past from the time. The movie came out and it was targeted at children. Who absolutely did not live at that time. I don't know yeah so this movie. Think basically what you need to know as before we go any further is that this is a musical spoof on gangster films and all of the rules don't roles but they're played by children. Yes a hundred percent of the cast is children. There are no adults average. Age was twelve so like actual children in ice on. No one was older than sixteen. I saw than seventeen so maybe a birthday foul in the middle. Maybe either way. None of them were legal. Voting age won't at the time they filmed. Yeah which they had to have like teachers onset and they couldn't shoot at night and so lots of restrictions on that but this was the vision that the director had because the son gave the idea which is funny. I mean it sounds like something. A kid would just say about any movie but he happened to say it to his director. Father about this movie sure. Yeah i read an interview with the director in. He said i had four young children in. We used to go up to cottage on the weekends. In on the long boring car journey up there i started telling the story of a gangster called bugsy malone and they'd ask questions i'd makeup answers based on my memories of watching old movie reruns as a kid and it. Yeah like you said it was. His idea has sunset can the heroes kids in the ids. Say can as well as the villains and everybody else. Yup must be box right. No you're not no but that's the best punch. I've saw even coached door taking it up. Nope why not. You could be a champion. There had the chance. I could help you. You know cagey joe. No you must know sluggish as much through you know what's your name anyway Smith leroy smith bugsy malone put it there leeway. You've got yourself a manager in the thirties. Around prohibition and there were two dueling mobs or gangs gangs and loosely based off of like al capone and Another gangster call eggs marine. Yeah it was like it's close. The best part. I think is that because you know you're like oh a mobster. Movie gangster. Movie played by kids of that seems a little grotesque No because the guns shot whip cream and they like literally also took pies and through pies at each other amazing Yes i love it. I love that all of the children when they are getting pied were shot. I guess they're splurged with the whipped game to like no no. What did i do to deserve this out. Like the die when this happens but at the same time like they are very upset and do not want this to happen and you don't see them again so yeah Apparently they did not actually shoot the whipped cream on saturday. Tried doing it with wax balls filled with cream but it actually hurts people to shoot them with it did on adults so instead they shot pingpong balls and then they used editing to make it look like they were getting lurched yeah that must've been so like what a fun movie to be on as a kid who's gonna throw of cream at each other. I feel like as an adult. It would be a blast so yes as a kid. That would be amazing. I'd be more conscious about my hair washing schedule. And.
