Winter’s Not Over Yet; Snow Expected Friday In Boston Area

"Now look at the four day WBZ. AKI Weather forecast. We've got a lot to unpack here in the next several days, Here's meteorologist in DeVore. Yeah, we're flipping around from kind of spring to winter and then back to good spring. Here is spring arrives. Remember the equinoxes Saturday? We've got some snow on the last full day of winter finds that it looks like we're going to see rain moving tomorrow. Get heavy tomorrow night and then flip over to some snow first thing Friday morning. It's probably a 34 hour period. It looks like in the modeling first thing Friday morning, then could put down and ends too as much as three. In some areas. It's gonna be slushy and slippery as those temperatures are nearer, just below freezing will only get up to near 40. Then Friday, behind the storm with real fields, teens and twenties at least Jeff by Saturday. It's in the mid forties and mid fifties. I think by Sunday today kind of nondescript some clouds and temperatures near 50 low fifties before that rain arrives tomorrow, then flips over to snow. Friday morning will keep up to date as we get closer to that event right here on WBZ. Boston's news rating is still dealing with some stubborn clouds here in Boston 34

I was telling you about the fact that there's a lot of ice under the snow in my driveway. I wish somebody would come here and fix it. But nobody seems to do that. But anyway, so far, no accidents or incidents tell you about so that's the good news. Lori granted, leave eases traffic on the three. Now let's check out the four day WBC. AKI weather forecast and we're joined now by meteorologist in Boarding. Good Morning is Chilly out there going to be a chilly day. Are we going to see maybe another snow flurry Well, what we're gonna really like to concentrate on this this week. I think we're gonna have a lot of icy mornings like this because of the temperatures and we're going to have Ah, quick hitting snow systems. We've got another one on the way, right? Probably arriving mid to late morning tomorrow. So today at least you get some recovery with sunshine. A cold, brisk wind on the high will never get above freezing, so we'll stay in the upper twenties real fields in the teens. And then tonight we're down into the teens and 20 teens all over So again. I see spots tomorrow morning. Things that aren't cleaned off. We're going to get another round of snow, maybe little sleet and freezing rain mixing and down on the coast in the cape, And I think an average of 1 to 3 inches of snow tomorrow during the mid day into the afternoon sons back out on Wednesday, we get just barely two almost freezing, but maybe fall short, most places and then we stay in the twenties with another round of snow Thursday and again that could be If you'd almost several inches, depending on the track of that system, So, Sherry, Here we are. Once I told you winner was going to continue the ground hogs that said that winter was gonna continue. We're right. I'm thank you. Weather meteorologist in Devore wbz Boston's NewsRadio. Otani, Phil Got it right this year. Thank you so much, Dana. Now let's check the region. It is 20 degrees right now in Arlington and aunt over 20 degrees between two that is in Avon and 22 degrees as well. In Boston. It's 5 25. Time now for New England business news. We'll get some melting. And then we'll re freeze that back tonight and have some icy sponsor into the morning commute Tomorrow, down to 28 upper thirties With sunshine tomorrow Friday. I think a little rain mixed with some snow, mainly in the afternoon. Think temperatures in the city warm enough that we're not going to be totally icy with that, but maybe a little bit slippery north and West. Colder As we get into Saturday, temperatures back in the low thirties real fields in the teens and in a bitter blast is coming. "The threes. All right, I thought I saw some brightening in the skies. I guess not quite there yet to the sunny portion of our weather. Let's find out what's next. In terms of snow and rain and slush and freezing joining us this morning. A very busy dean DeVore. Good morning. I think what you're seeing is the clouds aren't is thick for the city and coastal areas. Now, this has been a very amazing storm to watch because it had the characteristics of a coastal storm, but it actually formed to low pressures. And the one that was closest to us here in Boston actually pushed that rain snow line a bit farther inland. Then we were counting on. But then Laurie, it didn't once it's stuck. It's stuck. So it was like you either got nothing, and then you ramped up quickly, almost a foot And there's a definite line from like the 1 28 suburbs all the way down to Providence. Where one side of that the northwestern side, they have it. And it's still snowing, and it's still slippery. Farther South and East. It's kind of dreary and more mixed Temperatures. Air dropped around 32 in Boston. I think they hold their temperatures can ration now it's down to 31 so again. We're getting colder closer to the city. So watch for these things to get a little slippery, especially things that are shoveled and plowed, but maybe not treated as well as they should be. Will wrap around some snow showers into this evening. The areas that were kind of slushy that the Cape will get a little icy tonight and then South Coast to We've got a couple of more winter things to keep in our horizon here after maybe, um, wintry mix more rain situation Friday could be a more potent snowstorm Sunday into Monday and then the cold air that we had last week that bitter blast it's equaled and surpassed colder air. "Guided out to Storrow Drive there so far so good on the lower deck that tell them you're fine Airport tunnels also moving well for us. Laurie granted WBC's traffic on the three Let's take a look at the four day WBZ AccuWeather forecast getting ready Here's meteorologist Dean DeVore. Jeff. We're starting to see some snowflakes flying in the region on a lot to study of snows holding off down to the south and west of us just into southwestern parts of Rhode Island and eastern Connecticut. Seeing the Line and the leading edge of that steadier snow. But That will come up to us here later this morning, and we will see snow heavy at times this afternoon tonight and into tomorrow inland spots likely to stay all snow. We could see a foot or more, especially to go past 4 95. There will be some mixing in the city. So I think 6 to 12 inches snow, mixing with some sleet and rain, the farther south and east to go along the south shore down to the South Coast cable lines were likely to go. Over to rain and sleet. But those areas could end us. Um, so into Wednesday. The other big story is the wind gusts 50 to 60 MPH. The peak is this nor'easter goes by in the Cape and the islands. All things were watching as we keep you up to date on WBZ Boston's NewsRadio, heavy snow and high winds that could spell some power outages throughout the state. We check the four day WBZ. AKI Weather forecast Here's meteorologist Dean DeVore. Do you want more? I can give you more. Wait till Sunday Monday in the early Tuesday. You may not see the snow so nice to look at then Jeff, I'm not being flip, but there's a pretty decent storm brewing here. Now on the modeling is we get into that time period and we have more snow. To go through here. This stuff that we've been seeing near the North Shore city and sound short slips down and centers on the south shore of the south coast in the Cape ears. We go through the afternoon and then it will kind of Go off Cape here this evening Temperatures today only getting up into the low twenties, mid twenties inland spots lower thirties at the coastal areas and real fields, teens or twenties. And then tomorrow's temperatures after we did plunge those real fields below zero. Tonight we drop into the single digits inland Teens along the coast. I think there's another batch of snow that I'm worried about. Especially for the South Shore South coast. Keeping the islands tomorrow could give a couple of inches and may back into the city a little bit tomorrow afternoon. That's that polar air that's pressing in. And those real fields will stay near below zero all day tomorrow into tomorrow night, and then Saturday into Sunday. We kind of ease out a little bit of the time in the cold, and this prolific storm that we're watching could give us a lot of snow inland. Maybe some wintry mix of the coast. But it's something to watch for Monday into Tuesday looks like the center of the storm. Right now. I thank you with meteorologist in before with WBZ. How Do Roly-Poly Bugs Work?

"Potato boats pillbox doodlebug, really police. They looked like a gray shrimp crossed an Armadillo and they seem to have a different name everywhere. They're found though the scientific name for these armor-plated little creatures is armed lithium vulgarity. With twelve known varieties of roly-poly bugs found in the United States alone these tiny crustaceans inhabit the northern and central parts of the country as well as many dark damp places across the world, and yes, they aren't insects, but crustaceans like crab lobster. They're the only stations that have adapted to living completely on land, though like their other station cousins, they breathe through Gills, so they have to keep to areas with plenty of rain or groundwater, and even then prefer damp spaces where the sun can't dry them out. And while you may not love having a cool dozen of these little critters popout when you move a flowerpot Cheka crawlspace. They don't bite staying or carry disease, and there is a very real benefit to having them in your backyard garden. It all starts with the microbes within the confines of the Raleigh Police Innards these microscopic gut, flora and fauna help really police breakdown dead organic matter. Raleigh police. Are Detroit devore's meaning? They get their nutrients by eating stuff that other plants and animals leave behind decomposing plants that animals and poop. Scientists have shown the benefits of the Raleigh. Police Diet on soil. They positively affect the ecosystem that they're in by increasing the mineral content of the soil, essentially turning the waste, they eat into healthy soil. But, it's not just what roly-poly bugs add to the soil. It's what they take out to. It turns out that these guys don't mind heavy metals. After studying the composition of their insides, scientists found that roly-poly bugs can crystallize stuff like lead, cadmium and arsenic in their guts, both preventing these toxic materials from harming themselves and taking them out of the environment. Meaning a construction site contaminated with heavy metals could effectively be cleaned by a bunch of hungry roly-poly bugs. Raleigh police will eat tender plant shoots if there is nothing else available, but it's not their preferred diet, and these bugs will also eat the eggs of some insects that are more inclined to gardens and crops, so they could be a great form of pest control and are sometimes used organic farming. So if you're noticing roly-poly, party taking place in your backyard. Don't worry. These little guys are doing a lot of the heavy lifting involved in creating the healthy soil that will help your garden Thri.
