"They were pretty high yesterday, but I Look, I said that they could have lost yesterday. And still been relevant in November and December. So a loss against the Giants doesn't depending on how they lost. They got blown out if they got You know if they lost to the Giants the way the Packers lost to the Saints, maybe I still think that the Packers Are going to bounce back. I don't think I would say that about the Broncos, certainly if they would have lost in that manner. To the New York Giants. It was a bit as big of a game as a week. One could be But even if they lost it, I still think that they had an opportunity with the way their schedule set up to be relevant late in the season. To have A much better year record wise than they had the year before. I hope that Vic Fangio continues. This way. I mean, what? What economy Or what a role reversal. From what you've come to expect. The Broncos on Sunday played a game think about this. The Broncos played a game where they had the less turnover prone quarterback. And the coach. That was less prone to making ridiculously Dumb decisions. In terms of challenges like Joe Judge threw a challenge flag on a touchdown. They're all reviewed. What do you throwing a flag for? He's burning timeouts said. Wrong time. What kind of freaky Friday alternate reality. Were we living in yesterday? That the Denver Broncos go into football game with the less turnover prone quarterback. In the More aggressive. But in the same way smarter Coach like even the Giants late in that game. It's like, why are you running the football and Barkley was averaging and look, say Kwan Barkley is not back to 100%. He's got he was on the pitch count. Broncos old friend Devontae Booker was in there for a lot of the game, like, Look, they didn't get the full power of, say, Kwan Barkley. But After three quarters of not getting it did Joe judge think? That all of a sudden, say Kwan Barkley was going to come alive and start running roughshod over the Denver Broncos. So I I even thought that the Giants lacked urgency when they needed to be urgent. The Broncos had urgency when they didn't have to be. URGENT. But just like I talked about to start the show with Teddy Bridgewater going back to Alberto going back to KJ Hamler showing that confidence in them Big Fangio, no matter is reasons. Whether he feels like he's got nothing to lose whether He? He's punch drunk. Whatever. Uh, whatever the whatever the reason why He chose to go for it on fourth down when he did it manifests itself in the eyes of the players. This guy has our back. This guy believes in us. And you thought during the preseason that maybe, and I know because I heard from Drew lock supporters. Oh, well, He just wants Teddy Bridgewater to win the job. That's why he's letting him go for it on fourth down against the Rams. Regular season game week one. He's letting Teddy Bridgewater go for it on fourth down. He has confidence in Teddy Bridgewater. Somewhere in there is a lot of confidence in him. Certainly more than the last guy. Hat. I'd love to see it for the entirety of the season. I don't think that we will. But really the only thing That you come away from that game. And and are disappointed about is that Jerry Judy injury and even then you got better news. Then you thought It looked bad. But look, it's a high ankle sprain and they're going to be they're not going to have him. For a while. And that's a that's a big loss. There's no two ways about that. But even the injury report on Jerry Judy, the prognosis was better than maybe you initially thought it was He didn't I didn't love the running game. I thought that Javonte Williams had flashes. But overall just wasn't consistent enough. Got bottled up quite a bit. Melvin Gordon the same thing and then all of a sudden, Melvin Gordon, but the 70 yard run and you feel much better about the running game. So even the things that didn't go that well for the Denver Broncos in the end, or actually better. We're actually turned out better. Then you thought they would two quarters in three quarters into that football game yesterday. Continue to take your thoughts on the Broncos. You could call or text into 522987 to. Of course, there are a whole bunch of other teams playing. On Sunday heard from Jason and how he feels about his New Orleans Saints deserves to feel the way he does. How about your favorite team? If you don't align with the Denver Broncos? How do you feel about your team? Yesterday. Open up the conversation, but Coming up. Next. I do want to talk about The other college football teams that call Colorado home. We talked about Air Force. Get back to them a little bit later. I want to talk about CEO and I definitely want to talk about CSU. On the bus front. Not a big moral victory guy, but Another day. Another unknown they could bring your biggest order yet, or a new cyber threat. Whatever happens,.

"I do want to get to some of these news and notes from around the league because NFL football it is here and it is here in just amount. A matter of hours, Courtney and we know that Tyrone Matthew, he was activated by the Kansas City Chiefs. He's coming off that reserve Covid 19 list that makes him eligible to play tomorrow against the Cleveland Browns at Arrowhead. So that's big news there. For the Kansas City Chiefs. Richie Incognito he's injured for the Las Vegas Raiders. That means that the Raiders are going to be starting four. Guys on that old line who are all new starters who have not started before on that line. That feels very bad for the Raiders there, so they're going to be missing the 38 year old who suffered a leg injury in a joint practice with the Rams, and say Kwan Barkley, Though good news for the New York Giants, he has been medically cleared. He will be ready for the season opener against the Denver Broncos. That seems like very big news. For the Giants. Courtney What's your reaction to say Kwan being available to go? My thought is already looking ahead at week two because they've got that short turnaround where they play on Thursday night Football, So I'm not anticipating. This is going to be a 25 30 carry game for Sega Juan Barkley. He has been medically cleared to play, which means that he'll be ready unless something happens between now. And game time, therefore 25 Eastern game tomorrow against the Denver Broncos, but I think it's good news. I think this is where this thing has been trending amber for a couple weeks now in knowing okay, say Kwan. We didn't really see it. We didn't see him in the preseason. That was by design. We can really see a lot of the Giants offense in the preseason, which is also by design, but nonetheless like that's a very, very good sign, considering they're out Evan Ingram tomorrow. Um and they also have all these offensive line issues that are a big concern. So if you can get something going with Szechwan Barkley early against a really, really good Denver defense that sets you up to have some high expectations. Early is higher expectations for for all that you could accomplish this year. So another A lot of fantasy owners myself included, who see this and a little bit of trepidation of okay, well, how much? How much run is he actually going to get considering they have such a short turnaround with that week to Thursday night Football game against division rival in Washington. But very good sign for the health of Steak one Barkley overall considering he tore that HCL week to last year, it hasn't even been a full year and he's expected to be back. He is expected to be back. I would be cautious as a fantasy owner about starting him just that yet because I would imagine with those two games in 10 days, he will be eased back into action. I would imagine he'll be splitting a lot of time with Devontae Booker there in the backfield, so they're going to protect their assets. I mean, the Giants, frankly have proceeded with extra caution surrounding Barkley and his rehab anyways, all summer long, but Like you said he progressed and he has progressed at an expedient ID rate that a lot of people maybe didn't even expect some very good news. They are ultimately for the New York Giants, even if they're pretty conservative with him here over the next couple weeks. So NFL football here 15 hours 14 hours. I'm really bad at math, but the point is, it's really soon and I 13.5 all right. Chris 13.5 hours. That's what we're going with. How excited are you on a scale of 1 to 10? And what are you most excited about Courtney? I'll put myself in a 10 because this is like Christmas Eve for NFL reporters. This is my fifth season covering the Minnesota Vikings for ESPN NFL Nation six season Overall, it covered the Oakland Raiders in the San Francisco 49 are San Jose Mercury News in 2016, so just wild for me personally to be like, Wow, I've been doing this for more than half of a decade. And, you know, five seasons with the same team in Minnesota. She's absolutely crazy. So in the world back on the road this year Covid 19 through such a wrench into everything Last year, it finally feels normal. Like I'm doing my doing Game night on ESPN radio from my hotel room, and Cincinnati like this didn't happen a year ago, and it's something now I'll never, ever take for granted like that. Travel element. Of going to games and getting to see other stadiums and you know, I'm really excited about that. But league wide we have talked about these rookie quarterbacks ad nauseam. All summer long all spring long dating back to when they were all drafted in April with five going in the first round. I'm excited to see how everybody does tomorrow. Those that we know That are going to play Trevor Lawrence. Can he be the first number one overall pick since David Carr did it back in the early 2000 to win his first game, and he has to go on the road to do that against Texans? Well, what about Zach Wilson when he faces off against the Panthers and Sam Donald trying to get a win over. You know his former team. What does that look like? And then, of course, Um, you know, elsewhere in the NFL or looking at Mac Jones and the New England Patriots going, you know, host playing host to the Miami Dolphins a couple weeks after Cam Newton was released, and then he puts out this video yesterday night, saying the reason he was released. It's because He's so great that he would be a distraction to the backup or distraction as a backup. There's all this conjecture and I'm just like, okay, let's see. These rookie quarterbacks actually play Amber so we can finally put those what ifs storylines behind us and talk about actual ball. In fairness to Cam. There has been a lot of talk about the reason that other teams are cautious about him is because he's not a backup kind of guy. And some of that is personality. Where, Hey, if you're a guy who was an FX calendar, he's in the same..

It is a football Friday being presented by Bud Light and Man, We could not be more excited. The Denver Broncos about to get this season underway. That happens on Sunday in New York against the Giants. We do know a police, according to the injury report. That state Kwan Barkley is now being listed as questionable for this game, and Ingram is already being listed as out. For the Denver Broncos. The one person listed as listed as questionable, at least at this moment right now is Bradley Chubb. It's a It's a contest that we've been all waiting for, and I think when you start Looking at the Denver Broncos, and I want to start off like By saying this, okay? I was reading something today. That was shocking to me. Uh, it was an opinion. Uh, negative reaction of teams. In all of football. Do you know that? The online I think it was done through. I wanted the betting services. The team with the most negative. Uh, Fan Reaction number three Denver Broncos. Can you believe that the opinion of its fan base and the people that follow them online is one of the worst in all of football? I think that when we start looking at the lines for the Denver Broncos, I think that you're going to start to see that Not a lot of love is going to be given to them early because I think the lines are set so that they can get the bets. Even is that right? Yes, okay. So with that being said that I think the Broncos are gonna win this weekend against the New York Giants because they have a better team. They have a better line. We have something that's going to happen here. Um, I don't know if if Nate solder is been named the starter Or if it's going to be, uh, Matt Peart, but they're right tackle is going to have problems with Von Miller. Okay, that's a guaranteed. Whoever they're right tackle is they're going to have problems with Von Miller. You're going to have to leave a tidy end in the game. So maybe Kyle Rudolph is going to be there to do one thing, and that's one thing only, and that's blocked. To help on that right side. Okay, that left side of that offensive line features a guy Andrew Thomas, who was a guy that had a tough time last year, They moved them the left tackle again, and now now he's going to be seeing Bradley, Chubb and everybody else. If if that's Cooper, whoever they put over there. To be that third pass rusher. Our defensive line versus their offensive line is a plus for us against it and against the New York Giants, okay? Broncos D Line versus the Giants offensive line. That's a win. Take one. Barkley is an issue. Okay, Steak one. Barkley is an issue for the New York Giants. He's a great player who gets open. He can catch the ball. But if he's If he is, if he at all Okay. If he's if he at all and they want to protect them for the rest of the year, then whoever they put back there behind him, Uh, whether they're Devontae Booker somebody we know about a little bit, right? Yep. He was a Denver Bronco or Gary Brightwell. I mean, that's another guy who is Uh, we know a little something about but let me tell you something. That's a That's a win for us. If a team beats us this year is because they have a running back. That can break down our linebackers and get open and coverage. That's the only position where we don't have great coverage, guys because every place else we are stacked and loaded. So if, say, Kwan Barkley, if they're only going to use sake one Barkley for half of it, Joe Joe, I'm telling you right now, that's a win for us. Well, let's just talk about the New York Giants for a second with Jaquan Barkley. And without, as you just brought up with Jaquan Barkley. They averaged 21 a half points per game. 345.9 total yards 57.1%. From the red Zone with Jaquan Barkley. Without him, 17.6 points a game. OK, 295.4 total yards per game and they're down to 46.3%. Touchdowns in the red Zone. So you immediately are taking 10% of your entire offensive output out when she Kwan Barkley is out. Yes, and that's the matchup. It's their best player, which is their running back versus our linebacker group, which is our weakest position on the entire team. That's the weakest position that we have for the Denver Broncos because every place else it feels like we have so much great depth and great ability and pro Bowl players. That we are solid. One position where we could lose that edge is at the running back position versus our linebackers. If his Devontae booker, then I feel really good about that. Okay? Because we know that he is the guy that a pound the ball in there. Of course. You pound the ball in there, Okay, He'll catch the football, but he's not making you miss like that and open space. Take one. Barkley is as good as any running back that's ever played the game, catching a football out the back field, making you missing and scoring. We need we need. I don't want to say we need them to be injured, But we don't want him to be at his best We do. We don't need him to be playing every place, right? Okay. We don't need him to be about 50% usage. Basically because it is the first game and you know if you're the New York Giants, Alfred, Do you think you look at the Denver Broncos and how good this defense is supposed to be and say to yourself? Let's not get say Kwan hurt in this first game when it's not 100%? No, because You have to win your division. You got to win your division and this team, you know? You know, the Broncos are a good football team. To us here in Denver. Okay to us here in Denver to every place outside of Denver. His team has five years in the road that has no playoff success and no no real. Uh, offensive identity. Just think about that. Every everybody in New York is thinking. Hey, man, That's a team we gotta beat. Like we're seeing. It's a must win for us. In New York. They're saying that's a must win for them. So I'm telling you right now, this game is going to come down to how we handle that running back position for the New York Giants. Offensively offensively, they match us our offense versus their defense. They.

"Detailing. How if your Houston maybe you do think about accepting that deal, knowing it's on the table, knowing Shawn Watson may not get what you're hoping for, especially if he ends up serving a long term suspension. The suspension may come next year. There's no guaranteeing that his legal issues will be all gone. By season's end. This thing could linger into next year. And then if that's still looming over and you're trying to get a trade done, you might not be getting three first round. First rounders in return. Yeah, to me. It didn't make sense because I thought Houston should take the bird in the hand. Yeah, because you just don't know what the situation is this legal stuff and You know you're not going to play in this year. So what's the point? I think they think that they can get more for him at the end of the season. I'm not 100% sure that's the that's the smart move. Um, but they're trying to play hardball about it. And I wouldn't be surprised to see a deal done before the trade deadline. I wouldn't be surprised to see no deal done and and see him set all season. All right. Next story here. Steak one Barkley expected to play on Sunday. What are some realistic expectations for him? They're going to try and make him a four. Go now. The backup is Devontae Booker. And so, you know, I think we're all familiar with him in Broncos country off me with what he did the revenge game last year. I wouldn't be surprised to see a healthy dose of Davante Booker. Um, maybe a more rotational approach than you'd normally get. But sequel Barkley. They're playing on rolling him out. And like I pointed out Uh, you know, it's a call. Barkley changes the dynamic of the Giants offense, which isn't very good. Daniel Jones quarterback rating is 22 points higher than, say, Kwan. Barkley is on the field of play action because defenses actually have to respect the play. Actually, the run game the run threat with him there. So, um, you know, he changes the dynamic of an otherwise more about the offense. Okay, Next story here will go to an article here from NFL dot com. Projecting the wind totals of the teams in the A F C. Surprise can see chiefs are at 12.4 there at the top buffalo Bills 11.5. It's all reference or rough results here at 10.9 for Cleveland, they win the A F C North Baltimore 10.8. So on and so forth out of the Broncos. They're the 10th team on here. The projected win total is at 8.6 only 0.1 behind. The L A chargers, But I find kind of interesting here. We're both of those two teams. The ceiling is basically identical, according to whatever thing they ran this through. The ceiling is identical. It's the floor. That is the biggest difference between what the Chargers and the Broncos are ultimately expected. And that, of course, affects what the over under is right now. The charges at 9.5 and the Broncos at 8.5 For the Broncos, though I mean at this point, they continue to have a pretty wide variants that go from 11 point through the ceiling all the way down to 5.9 as the floor Well, I think people are overrated the charges this year I think they're going to take a massive step backwards. We'll see. Maybe I'm wrong on that, But that's one of those teams that everybody's like hyping up this year. I I just feel I feel like we could finish last in the division Raiders might finish over, Um I just think there's changing offences changing defense is in. What they had set up last year really was to maximize what Justin Herbert does. They're changing their offense to an offense that honestly Matt Stafford struggled to run. And you know, Herbert has some similar characteristics to Stafford. But he's nowhere near as developed. The Stafford was at the time he was asked to run this. So, um, I'm not bullish on the Chargers. Maybe I'm wrong on this, But I think the Chargers making a massive step back this year. That's it's interesting. Where do they have? Washington D. C. Do you have that in front of the energy? I do? Washington? I'm very bullish on. I think they're going to be a lot better than people. Okay, I'll tell you that Just second, I want to see the Broncos were ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers. They were ahead of the Raiders way ahead of the Raiders. The Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, the Jaguars the and a Texan, so those are the teams that they were ahead of the Steelers, I think would be kind of little eyebrow raising for some, but maybe not so much for you. Let's go, really. I'll go over to the NFC really quick for you. You wanted to know Washington. I wouldn't know what their total was because I'm very bullish on the Washington football team this year, so he's number one right. Prized Green Bay San Francisco Rams Washington comes in at number five. Okay, so nobody's sleeping on them anymore. 9.2 with the ceiling is 12 floors, seven points for world, Okay? All right, Let's go. Next story here. Uh, let's go to Mac McCain. You may not know, but he was a Broncos practice squad player. The Eagle signed him off of the Broncos practice court. Don't see this very often. But it does go to tell you a little bit about the depth and the view of cornerbacks around like something we talked about Just the other day. Teams are definitely thirsty for corner help, you know? Signing somebody poaching off the practice squad is not something that happens a lot. But I will tell you that the Broncos between waivers and everything else, like eight players that have either claimed by other teams are signed off the practice squad..

"I mean, he had what? Six and has Saxon very limited snaps last year. You get him on the field board. You got a healthy von Miller, Bradley Chubb. Shelby Harris. Mike Purcell out there. I mean, that makes it a lot more difficult to focus on a guy like that. I think that That could be a lot better for him. Um, you know, I think KJ handlers gonna gonna be a lot better than people thought. You know, we didn't expect contributions from last year. But watching him in the preseason man, even the mid routes, and he's not just a one trick pony anymore. He can work some of the mid routes now, and I think he's going to be a lot more involved than people think a lot of the Tim Patrick stuff and they play a different position per se. But a lot of the balls that went to Tim Patrick, I think age is going to be on the field more this year. Last as we wrap up our show, Benjamin operate popped in the studio. Two guys that him practice much lately. Bradley, Chubb and Noah fan. What are you hearing on them? Both for girls. Bradley Chubb. Definitely a full go that a precautionary thing with the tweak of his other ankle there, and fans is expected to be a full go perfect banjo. He's been out for a while. Yeah. Which chopper fan fans? Yeah, He's been out for a minute, but they expect them to be a full go for this game. So by the way, if Jaquan Barkley doesn't play the Giants backup running back as our old friend of anti Booker I saw that. Yeah, they really What? We're definitely going to see some Devontae booker this week. Probably He was kind of a Broncos killer last year. A little bit for the Raiders. Yeah, right. Good. It's the revenge came and they said he had a great camp and a great pre season two. I mean, one thing about book Um, he is a hammerhead. You have to. He's not going to shy away from contact where you have to really want to hit him because he's going to want to hit you a good way to put it. Yeah, Ben. Thanks. No problem. We'll wrap things up. By the way. We had a chance earlier to visit with Teddy Bridgewater sponsored by the law offices. Dan Capital is a serious Law firm for serious cases. Well,.

"Round, Heisman Trophy winner Electric wide receiver, You got your weapon, but The same things that were kind of questioning him in college are already starting to come up with his size. Can he take the NFL load? He's not the biggest dude but He as fast as anything. He runs routes like one of the best running route running as we've seen coming out of the college game, and from everyone who has seen him in training camp before he got injured. He did look the part. He looked like somebody who is ready to contribute. From day one. There's just so many more question marks. Those Philadelphia Eagles, which I don't have with the New York Giants, which I do believe you don't have questions. I don't. Uh I don't have questions. As far as like. I know who they are. To me. It's been about health. And it's about holding onto the ball with Daniel Jones. I think out of the four quarterbacks in the NFC East, I think after Dak Prescott Daniel Jones is probably the second best. I don't necessarily trust Ryan Fitzpatrick as much as I talked about how much I loved him. You'll. He's got that two sides of the coin. Yeah, I got that card where he's got half of that season where you're like, OK, This is why he's the backup. And then there's other happy season where it's like this guy is the greatest quarterback ever and he's from Harvard. And then he got back Prescott, which injuries permitting, He's probably the best dude there. Jalen hurts, still has lots of prove Dana Jones just as a straight thrower of the football. He's got all the throws. He's got everything. I mean, the data dives nickname wasn't just a great use of alliteration like he was diving people up for a while, say Kwan Barkley. That offensive line. The defense, I think is probably they probably have the best secondary in you know, in the NFC East and when it comes to say, Kwan Barkley and coming off that the A C l injury I saw a lot of him and training camp. Talk to David Deal a lot. He's out there. Madeline Burke, all the folks over at the New York Giants training camp. I see them every day, they said, Say Kwon looks amazing. They say he looks just like he'd never missed a game never missed a day and that's great the same practice and great stage for any camp, But he's such a physical specimen. You would think that quotes like that. Would, you know? Carry a little bit of weight. You know, You just want to be able to see that he can move pretty well. Take the hits and you know once that first game kicks off, either Not really later tonight because you don't expect him to play a whole lot when the when the season starts, you want to be able to see him still be that physical specimen that he was coming out of Penn State and just being one of the you know, most can't miss running back prospect we've seen and, uh he's once in a generation actually disagree. I think their offensive line is pretty bad. It's going to be a problem. That's the issue with Daniel Jones is that His maturation. Uh, you know, people are going to remember the stumble. Um, they're going to remember this guy being drafted at a Duke and just being lambasted by draft experts and such and looking exactly like Eli Manning and sessions like No on the field. He's been good. He's not been Electrifying by any means, but he's not lights out, but you see the flash. He seems to be trending in the right direction. And I don't think he has a lot of excuses after this year, because it's say Kwan Barkley, uh and and the running back room there with Devontae Booker and Corey Clement from my Philadelphia Eagles, plus Alfred Morris around it out. Kenny Kenny Golladay get Aria's Tony from the University of Florida. Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton, and then the tight ends or even a gram and Kyle Rudolph. There's talent. Yes, there are no excuses. Yes. So what is Daniel Jones do after this, and then my worry for, say, Kwan Is he's coming back from an injury. I expect him to be healthy. He's look great in training camp already. If the offensive line doesn't do their part, how much can say quant overcome And it is the narrative in 2022 is like well, say, Kwon just wasn't the same came back. And you know you always His leg was hurt number something, Then you know, whatever. Does that offensive line? Let him down? Yeah, And that's how much the offensive line I think. Now The pressure is starting to come up with, like, say Kwan himself and that draft class and Daniel Jones, so it's like It's one thing to miss out on your draft pick. It's another thing where the people that came after ST Quan Barkley that Josh Allen's of the world the Lamar Jackson's right, You know you got quarterbacks have proven themselves to be Really damn good, you know, And there's still a whole lot of questions about Daniel Jones, where you couldn't answer those questions very early and gotten the running back with plenty of NFL teams. I've proven that Don't really need to go that hard to get them. You know, You don't need a goal number two overall to get somebody that could fill in that spot if you got a quarterback and offensive line, which you know, isn't that great? But you know, you got Lamar Jackson or you got Josh Allen or any of these folks, you get a young quarterback, you can go out there and pay for offensive line to keep them upright. They haven't necessarily done that. So far, so I'm hoping that say Kwan is good to go this year. I'm hoping Daniel Jones is trying to fulfill that promise because you mess up on two of those first round draft picks that sets your franchise back. Years. You know, like you can't mess those up, especially at those positions. You know, in the position that you draft them in, you don't necessarily need to go Super high. To get an effective running back, especially in this NFL where everything is in the air, and everything is getting thrown up. And you know all the rules are coasted and just Just chilled it to protect all the quarterbacks right, so you don't necessarily need to get anybody like that. So I think Daniel Jones has a good season is here, though. I think he's going to be somebody who like you said they have a whole lot of weapons. Um he's never really had a problem with accuracy. He's had a problem with turnovers is that a problem of holding onto the ball pocket has had a problem with pocket presence. But when it comes to just slinging the pill He's always looked really good..

"I mean, that guy can also get it done. In a way, that's sort of unusual now, right those mid range Jay's just step backs over players much taller than him. They have a number of ways to attack you over there. The Bucks due to And it could be Lopez. If you're honest is out, but more likely, you're looking to holiday or or or Milton, and it's just which guy shows up that night and go ahead well, and that's why I like to me almost look at these. Like, you know, old school. Not that I was particularly great at math, but like when you had division problems, and you had to take like denominators, that sort of crossed each other out sometimes if I'm just putting the roster over here, I'm like man Middleton when he goes off Goes off so I can just take Middleton and cross Middleton often cross CP three off right like those are the two guys that I think I think those two guys can eat in this series. No matter what happens, and I would say the same to a large extent about Booker and drew holiday. That's why like for me, I think there's such great offensive performances. There are real questions about consistency, though, to your point. I mean, we've seen Middleton just absolutely destroyed teams and then we've seen where he just can't hit the broad side of a barn. Right. It's pain and fit. Sarah, Spain, Jason fits on ESPN radio. We're talking about Jen ladder hooking us up with tickets, which was a really good idea for me, and I think we need to follow up on that. But also Jen ladder has some great insight on this series. And this is what she had to say about her way of looking at the Bucks having to figure out life without Yanis. The box are like my me and my husband when my husband is out of town, Okay, when my husband is home if one of the kids yells for us to kind of wait a moment and see if my husband is gonna Tend to it right. We're both there so either one of us could do it and she goes, and sometimes he will, And sometimes he won't. But when my husband's out of town for work, I have to do everything. So there's no hesitation when the kids shouts. I don't wait for a moment to see if my husband is going to step in, she said. And that's what it seems like the box are doing when Yanis isn't there. You're not waiting to run the offense through him. You're not getting into the dunker spot. You're not being dropped defense When you're on, David, you're not doing some of the things that you only do. What Office is on the floor and it felt like they were playing without thinking without that hesitation of got to get the ball. Be honest. Where's your honest? You know, we got to make sure we run the offense through Yanis. Yeah, I think it matters. She said that on K. J and Z this morning, I think it's a great analogy fits. It's something we kind of mentioned his aura. Stevenson just now, too, is that idea of like, you just stepped into a different role. When you know that guy is not going to be here or, you know he's going to be here, but he's not himself. It's on me. Whereas even if somebody tells you to do that, if you've still got a two time M v P on the court with you, a part of you is going to differ. Is there, not? I mean so much proof of concept of that idea from just the other side of this matchup, like when we lost Chris Paul out of the Sun's last series, we saw a different level of Devontae Booker, right, and so like you can, you can turn around and look at Booker and be like, Oh, my just calm. Devontae Booker's column Devante book. That's amazing. What do you think is going on there? Well, Avanti book. He's a back of running back for the Raiders a couple of years ago. So what we're doing? I was just going to go right past the Raiders found their way demands final. You are really Hungry for some Raiders. Oh, my God. It's almost here. You know. Now I'm going to have to put the Vontobel girl my Madden team. I feel like I owe that to know Devin Booker. But we did see the next year from Devon and then remember when Chris Paul came back like I said, there was conversations about well, now there's piece of play issues and has this team taking a step back and like all of the then you get the is the team better without Chris. Well, like all of the hot takes come from that the box are going to go through the same thing when Yanez comes back because it's an inevitable adjustment. Yeah, And that's going to be the fascinating thing because I've been real tough on coach Bud and I think, rightfully so about adjustments. This is a series that's going to take a lot of them if Yannis is in or out, or he's having to adjust to to like levels of availability and effort. And I, That's where you look to the other side and say You've got a coach of the year candidate finalists and then you've got someone who's on the hot seat. Vince Carter also addressed the idea of what the other guys need to do when Janice is in or out. If they can get the honest back. You want your knees on the floor. He demands attention, regardless of where he is with his health at the same time, I'm still I'm telling Drew Holiday I'm telling Chris Middleton, for sure. And then my big I need the same game from because you want us to take his time. Maybe you don't play them as many minutes early, so you can get himself back into game shape and playing state because he's been away from the game. Uh, for for for a while now, the honest that is so I want my four guys in that holiday Middleton in both my big importance and Lopez to stay aggressive. And let Janice work his way back. The one thing for Yanis that is great is if he doesn't settled, he plays in the paint. Yeah, I think fits. Summon whatever it was that you brought to the series clincher against the Hawks. And, yeah, they were short. Trey wasn't himself. But what we saw to that team was a team that knew the assignment. And they need to bring that in this series and not need to catch up when they realized that they need to be the guy without Yannis. Yeah, and you can feel the intensity by the way in that came also like there's just all of that coming together. That really needs to happen. "Stand on this as my car alerts me that I'm not wearing my seatbelt. Jen, Please be safe. We care about you. Thank you. I should pull over. Absolutely. Um, That's a really great question. And it's interesting because you know, I'm doing the Telling me this week with Kevin Negandhi, Um and I know that most people don't consider spellers to be athletes. But you guys might be shots at how much mutual respect there is between elite athletes, NFL players, NBA players, and these Sellers who are in the fifth grade to eighth grade because, like you guys mentioned the work ethic, the appreciation for like devoting oneself singularly to being the best at what you do. You mentioned your music career fits like I think there's a mutual respect there, and we've heard from several athletes who are pulling for certain scholars and whatnot. So all I don't think spelling is necessary in athletic competition. It certainly deserves. You know a lot of our Respect, and we see that from outfits as well. I gotta get back to you on the competitive eating one because I definitely I'm having an internal debate. Right now. I love the fact that that's a great answer by Jen who's just smarter than all of us Jen ladder Joining us from ESPN Milwaukee. Alright, let's change direction here a little bit and get to why we really wanted to have you on. Obviously all eyes are going to be on the bucks. So how much of their game plan will revolve around if and when they can get honest back or do they just In your mind, focus on what they know they're going to have and not plan on any honest for this series. Listen, I think you have to have both game plans ready? They probably know more than they're letting on about the timetable for Janice's return, but I think you always play it strategic and you always forced the opponent to do double the work to prepare as though Yannis is on the court and to prepare as though he's off the court. The good news is the past two games for the box when Janice wasn't able to participate, gave them incredible confidence and really Of of you an alternate universe of how good they can be when Yanis isn't there, So if you're the box, I think you've got to have both game plans ready, But I think there's a confidence level guys that is really high. If in fact, the two time M V p defensive player of the year cannot be on the floor, these guys are really good and they play really well together. Now. That's not to say that they are better without Yannis. It's just to say that it's different. And I want to tell you guys the analogy that I use this morning. I'm Keyshawn J. Willens Zubin, which I cannot take credit for my girl. Friend as we were enjoying a few pops, watching the Bucks win at the Dear District this past weekend said, You know, John is not being on the court is kind of like when my husband is away on business trips. When he's home. The two of us kind of look at each other. When the kids need something to see who's going to respond first, right? Who's going to react when he's not there? I just do it. I know he's not there, so I just do it. I don't have to think about it. And I thought, Man, that's such a good analogy for the way that the bucks seem to operate. When Yanis isn't there, it seems as though it's just a little. Easier, and they're not thinking so much about trying to push the offense through Yonas, and it just felt a little more effortless. I thought that was such a good analogy by my girlfriend. I have to give her credit for because it didn't come from me, but makes perfect sense, doesn't it? It does, Jen. I actually heard you make that analogy. This morning. I was driving around. Listen to you on with Monica and Alan Hahn on K. Jay Z. And so the The Next thing for me was All right. Well in that process, then it would also, maybe in theory work. Where are you find out? Hey, there's something I do pretty well, in this process that maybe I wouldn't have learned if I hadn't gotten that time on my own. So, Jen, is there anything from watching this bucks team where drew holiday and Chris Middleton had a little more control over things that you think they should take with them, even when Janice does come back? Well, absolutely. I mean, the aggressiveness that drew holiday has shown it didn't seem like he was hesitating over the last few games, sort of just taking over. You know, he wants to be a facilitator, and he's really, really good at that job. But you've seen that he can be a scorer as well. And I think you have to go back to you guys. Brook Lopez Brook Lopez, who is the top score in Nets history, because he's so good in the paint, but because he's a team player when Janice is on the floor, he doesn't play in the post. Right. That's Yannis his space and he is damn good when he is going downhill and he is putting it in, you know, with the dunks and the electric play inside, So that means the book weapons actually somewhere else so that they're not clogging up the lake, but you've been reminded in these last two games. Just how dominant he can be inside. So I think you're right. Sometimes, when a transcendent generational player is on the court with you, you get forced into a different role than you would May be taken on a different team in a different situation, and I think you're seeing these guys realized, like Oh, I got some skills here. I got some some tools in my tool kit that I haven't used and good to be reminded of that. And, oh, yeah, I'm going to be using those in this series of Yannis is out. So Jen, if we all agree that Chris Middleton and True holiday will get the focus of attention on one side, and obviously Chris, Paul and Devontae Booker will get the focus of attention on the other. I guess I keep looking at DeAndre Ayton like what's the plan for the Bucks to slow down eight. I mean, it's got to be that that physical post present and you've seen it from these guys. They can play physical fall, and I think that just again seeing Brook Lopez, even Bobby Portis, who were again famously did not play in some of those games against the Nets, who made himself into like a cult hero here in Milwaukee because he accepted his role and then was ready when called upon. Those are the kind of guys we're going to have to bang around. We're going to make their presence known. We're going to have to give that young kid a hard time. Going to have to try and give that kid a hard time and that is going to start very soon..

He think he did sign that he was on the move. Um, yeah, I got tell you guys something you know Quietly. The San Diego The Los Angeles Chargers are doing a good job of building out their team Gray have made solid picks for the last three or four years and over time. I think that's gonna pay out. You know, just looking at our division, you know, just And seeing what everybody else is doing. I'm not worried about the Raiders right now. Because the Raiders are the Raiders. Okay, They're doing that. They were in very raider like things and I'm not worried about them. But what the charges have quietly amassed a lot of really good talent, and so has the cardinal, that the Cardinals are one of those scary team that we don't get it. You know, I'm glad that we don't get to see because You know, you look at what they're doing with their draft. And then you also say, Ah, God. Like JJ Watt is coming over to bolster that that defense when Chandler Jones will be back. Um, I think I think that NFC West That used to be the dominant player in who determines who goes to the Super Bowl. That division is it's interesting. It's really interesting alone with that in that NFC South. The NFC West man, I tell you, and then our our division is getting stronger because you know that we're gonna have a leap from year one a year to out there with the charges at the quarterback position. And I just need people just to pay attention. What's going on here? Because the charges of quietly amassing a lot of talent. I'll tell you what I hope. In normally speaking, you're right with quarterback play. You're going to get a leap from year 1 to 2. But, gosh, there's good is Justin Herbert was last year. Let's hope from the Broncos. "To a one or two-year deal. Somebody did mention a very interesting name in this guy's more like like you were talking with Damien Williams not just a pass-catching back but a guy who give you a little bit of everything is Marlon Mack. I don't know that they're paying what it costs to bring Marlon Mack in but if his Market slides a little bit, that's absolutely their kind of guy. Whoever I don't know who brought that up, but that's a great name to to kind of attached if the market comes down a little bit. Yeah, that's not a bad one for whatever reason they're kicking tires. I'm running backs and as much as I hate we just went over the reasons there are reasons. Yeah, there are reasons. I just don't want them to pay anybody anything right? Like if you want to bring in a guy like a Chris Carson you want to pay him three million. Yeah, three and a half million dollars to play here next year fine, right, you know fine. If you're going to sort of real money, especially after the season that we just watch Damien Harris have for the Patriots and they finally got on the field. I don't know. It seems like a bad to me. So there's another great name and somebody brought this up earlier to Phillip. Lindsay was given a a a restricted free agent. So the Broncos would have the right to do much but they don't have to give up a pet. He's kind of fallen out of favor there. That's a guy and he's got the buy into we kind of learned a little about him when he had that breakout rookie season and he's a guy that appreciates the grind appreciates hard work all of that. Yeah. I could I remember thinking that earlier today I'd forgotten about it, but it's a great Point bringing in Phillip Lindsay. I to me, that's probably on short money. That's a home run see if they can get him for like two or three four million dollars a year, right? The other element of Phillip Lindsay like is that he's a little bit undersized and somebody that's dealt with some durability issues. So if you put him in the running, yep, By committee where he doesn't have to carry the ball 250 times. You probably keep them healthy keep them fresh. He's somebody that is a pretty explosive ball player when he's healthy and he's on the field. He was like a bell-cow and off for right when he started sending him and devontae Booker bolts kind of were in that Nixon Denver when he first started but starting he's a guy that was their lead back and was a pro bowler and all that kind of stuff. Yeah, no I so I'll fill up lives in that. That was that's probably my favorite. But again, I just think if it's the big back if it's the Carson if it's the fournette that to me tells me that that may be a Sony Michelle trade is Courtney certainly think it puts his option in Jeopardy, but I'm not convinced. They're done with the running backs at that point or they're done with the running backs at that does happen. I think he loves them even if they've he loves it. He's got some good ones and he's had some fat now. You're going to tell me some of these running backs Patriots have had I mean some of the most valuable players some of the most important players..
