"I'm going to take a deep breath first. Okay. I think pick it's pretty good. I like it. I'm not with you. I like them. I'm kind of in unpick it. You're not with me. So what are we hanging our hat on here? That's my first question. Accuracy. Toughness, what do we got? I mean, I think he's getting rid of the ball quickly. Poised to me is like, I don't feel hassled in the pocket. To me, he is willing to take a hit, but he still feels like he's hassled in the pocket. Like so much of what he has in terms of his target distribution right now is where's the big guy? Can I get a contested ball up in time? Yeah, which is somehow this offense works, right? That should be their offense. What the hell is that? Are they going to do that? If they had a real quarterback pick and looks awesome. But yeah, I think some of that is the function of the offense. But it's not like, and this was true of him that pit too. This was a narrative they had on a pit that wasn't true. It's not like he's a guy who stands in the pocket and goes one and two to three. He never has been, right? Look down one, try to get one open and then I'll start to get happy feet and I'll start to move. I don't mind that too much relative to what he's dealing with right now. At least the offensive line is bad. But I see like an accurate quarterback who's willing to take a hit. That's good. That'll make you some money in the league. Now what, like I said, what am I hanging my hat on? Arm strength isn't there. Athleticism, like these are all just like average traits for him. So he doesn't move very well. He doesn't explain the ball very well. Is he like moving safety with his eyes? He correcting stuff pre snapped. Like none of that's there for me right now. So like I have proof of concept that he'll do it in the NFL level. He'll throw a catchable ball. That'll keep you rostered. But besides that he hasn't done anything yet to me, where I'm like, yep, there it is. If Kenny Pickett successful in the league, that's what it'll look like. I haven't had that moment with him. Wow, that was an assassination of Kenny Pickett. Was it? I thought that was pretty harsh. Aw man, I was trying to kill you fans are coming after you now. Listen, first kept up in that bugs game before it got hurt. Kept them hanging around. My dad's a big steelers fan and he thinks he saw the end of that CEO's game. He thinks it's Mitch time now. He said, Mitch got motivated by the picket, you know, please don't get back. The only reason that happened was Mitch had no time to think about the fact that he was going in. They just put them out there and dropped in the cold water. They should just start him like two minutes before the game. And then surprise go in with that. I'd like pick it. I don't know. There's something about him I like. And I do think for what they need. I like their receivers and I just want to get the ball near them and let them go make some plays. That's the right don't make any mistakes. I agree with you. That's the right way to play. We disagree. What about what about the two guys that chiefs got? Because they had mcduffie and Carlos. So mcduffie is been hurt. Carlos is a solid player for them. Carlos just was always going to be tricky because he's one of these edges that you draft that's never going to be like an 8 plus sac guy, you're going to get that once every so often. But he's really good against the run. He does generate pressure that other people clean up. He's like a yeoman dude, you know what I'm saying? Just going with his lunch pail and get to work. So carloff has been big for them, especially because karlov just can bump inside and play a little bit of like interior rushing stuff, which keeps Chris Jones where you want him, which is between the guards, right? Remember last year that was screwing around and putting Chris Jones as that was dumb. Now they put naughty Jones and Carl off this inside and then they'll put Frank Clark as the one outside Russia and that makes more sense. So they've been good and Brian cook, their second round safety out of Cincinnati. He's learned on the fly, spags defense is tough to get your teeth into it. You do a lot of stuff as a safety in that defense. He's handling his best he can. Alec pierce, the receiver for the colts. He's flash. He's been solid. Luke fortner is the center of the jazz class man with Fortnite center. Devon Lloyd linebacker and Trayvon walker the edge. They hit on their first three in a big way. Lloyds got some warts, but they hit. And that's been a big part why I think they've been a little bit of a surprise. The falcons with London and then Arnold at the cady, their second round rusher, like some of these teams that have been a little bit better than we thought. A lot of it is early contributions from the rookies. And that's something the Patriots weren't getting in the last few years. And then they finally, they hit on a couple guys last year, and then this year, they really hit. Yeah, you look at the top 5 walker Hutchinson stingley sauce thibodeau. The worst pick in that group is the lion's comfort. Everybody else feels great. Hey, can you? He had that three sack game Hutch and everybody lost their minds. None of those sacks are quality. They're all clean up. They're all cleaned up some games, which like it's good to finish a play, but be to tackle. You gotta be a tackle one on one and then stack the quarterback. You're gonna be the number two overall pick. He hasn't done it yet. The lens are like hard knocks. Anybody remember when people really were fired up at the back? Talk me out of pat Bengals tees. All right, so I like the paths on the teeth. I like the past to handle it's gonna be a rough night for fields. The whole ballot check thing of like oh, you guys can't do this. Great. And then it's been tough. The soliloquy he put out on how well coached and how good the bears are. The classic sign that he does not respect you. Excited about that. The Bengals thing for me is that they lost DJ reader. Their nose tackle really important key to their run defense and also middle linebacker Logan Wilson, who they're kind of trying to convince us, oh, you might play this Sunday, but initial prognosis is that he's not going to be able to go. That's the heart of the run defense. And if you lose that, they've been susceptible to the run. You saw what the jets were able to do to them. The cowboys did this to them a little bit. They lost to the running game. Now you get the falcons. The falcons are just a nightmare to prepare for. Like, why are the falcons in 6 O against the spread? Because no other team runs the falcon stuff. So you have to get into work on Monday and be like, we got to learn a whole new freaking defense when they put two full backs back there. They were one of the option and they got all these condensed guys and we have to deal with pants. There's just so much to deal with that other teams don't give you that it's hard to prep for them over a week. That running game plus the weakness that the Bengals run defense is what freaks me out for that leg. So falcons have been a trustworthy team for me so far this year. I would hope that so there's 6 no gets to spread. That's about as trustworthy as it gets. It's been that and it's been their team total overs because that offense has worked. With that said, the moment I mention a team on this podcast, they immediately shoot themselves in the foot the next week. So maybe it's my pro falcons edge that will be a strong for the bank. Or maybe it's my fault. Maybe just the stink of me this season, just getting on you. Through 5 weeks, $1 million pixel was tanking and I was having a great year. And then week 6, I had the worst week of my last two years of NFL betting for me. And $1 million picks finally went up. So we're just, I mean, if Tampa beats Pittsburgh, I would have had a huge week. Holy smokes. I can not tell you the amount of times I like that in the Santa Fe Buccaneers are in that game. It was one of those games where I was 2018 and they're like, here goes Tampa for the two point.

"Difference. So the Jags spent a little extra to get back in the first round to get Devon Lloyd, who's an off ball linebacker. And there are some off ball linebackers who should go round one, but typically there's not a lot, and in my opinion, Devin load was not one of them. So it wasn't a very good draft for Jacksonville, who spent two first round picks on defense and still, in my opinion, has no good plan on to develop their experts overall pick and Trevor Lawrence at quarterback. Trent balke is not the sort of guy you want running your team and we knew that before in the off season and they didn't fire him and we're just reemphasized with it now after the draft. I don't like the way he approached the first round. Wait, there's a couple, there's a couple parallels here that I can relate to. One is that the Jags are owned by the cod family. I don't think this is the number one thing going on in shot Khan's life. He's a big auto parts guy. He's got a lot of investments. And then the sun Tony, who's kind of the heir apparent. He's the guy who runs a W, the WWE rival. And that's what he's basically he's like Vince McMahon on the rise and wrestling. So neither of these guys are that into it, doesn't seem like from afar. And those are always the teams that you want drafting ahead of you in a draft. Those are the things you want to trade with. But I look at that walker thing. I did on TV, I did the draft when Anthony Bennett went number one to the calves. And it was a very similar draft to this one. There was no star, nobody could agree who the best guy was. Everybody agreed, the better guys might be in that 9 to 13 range. And kind of nobody wanted the number one pick so the Cavs couldn't even trade down. They wanted to. And all of a sudden they talked themselves in Anthony Bennett and when they did that, they drafted them and it was a huge surprise and I was on the broadcast and I actually made a noise which you're kind of not supposed to do in your announcement, but I was like, wow, I did one of those. And my mic was on. And Anthony Ben was a bust. And it didn't make sense. It was too high. Nobody really understood it. And this is kind of what this walker thing reminded me of, not to mention, you get the pressure of being the number one pick. If tiptoe is awesome for the Giants, you have that thing, if it's Georgia teammates are good, he's going to be compared to all these other things. He's not a bad team anyway. It's such a bad spot for the guy. I feel bad for him. And what's critical is this. He has to learn how to rush the passer. Because Georgia didn't ask him to. Defensively, when George wanted to get after the passer they wanted to blitz, they wanted to use their linebackers, their overhangs, kind of structurally walker was not the sort of player that they asked. He was in this under tackle role to blitz the passer. So with all of that visibility, number one overall pick, Jaguars, new head coach, Trevor Lawrence is there. You know, a to have just 2.1 pick laid, our came on to win four picks later. Georgia defense incredible, unbelievable athlete, Alden Smith comparisons. With all that visibility, he has to work. He has to develop, but he has to take reps and be bad and then get better. He's absolutely one of those players and the Jags know it. The Jags don't expect him to walk in and dominate. So how long of a leash is this guy get in terms of public visibility and media coverage where it's week ten and he's still nowhere on third down. He's still, you know, the occasional flash about it. It's a bummer. Yeah. It reminds me of the trubisky. The third pick and how many starts today having college 13 starts? And they traded up three to two to go get them. And they're like, well, you know, doesn't have a lot of reps, but the talent's there and he can learn on the job. And I don't know, man. There's a reason why sometimes we look at the college production and you can kind of learn some stuff. Like, I don't know if Hutchinson is going to be better than thibodeau. I actually, I just think the tidbit of the reasons that he felt were so stupid to me. He cares about more than football. He's trying to develop businesses outside. What? Is the guy the most talented guy or not? Who's going to be the impact guy? The other weird thing about this draft was 1213 14 might end up being like three of the best 5 picks in the draft, right? Williams falls to 12. Everybody agrees if he was in the draft he could potentially even go first. Then you get the guy at 13. Decent chance he's better. The guy went number one and then Hamilton goes 14 who might have been the best player in the draft. Absolutely. And yeah, don't sleep on as well a couple picks later. Charger Zion Johnson at 17 is a very, very big pick for that team. Because if they can shore up that offensive line, this team is very well set up. I like Zion Johnson at 17 a fair bit. Chris alaba also at 11 is good ball player for the saints. That was a little early, I think crystal lava was a little wide receiver run, yeah..

"That one could go, I think Gardner is going to be off the board, but they also went corner top ten last year too. Right. They have D.C. horn coming back. They re signed Dante Jackson so that right. I don't know if they'll go over there, but maybe the simulator is just thinking best player available. Right. Although Gardner, I think is a top ten pick. So is Stanley. I have stingley ranked ahead of Gardner. Charles cross falls a little bit. That's an interesting point. I would be more inclined to think that Panthers would go Charles cross with their pick over. I would too. This is an interesting one. Because there you go. All right, Trayvon walker, Malik Willis to Washington. That's kind of feels possible, I guess. Terrific Duffy. So here's the thing. The way this board went and it could go a number of ways. But the way this board went. Early run on corners. Not a great year to meet a corner for me this way. Trent mcduffie going very high. Carl Loftus falls a little bit, and I know you've been big on that. Devin Lloyd, Jordan Jordan Davis eagles. That's my pick. I think he goes to the eagles. We got James. This kills the Patriots right here. These are four. This was a murder boy. We just said that we weren't necessarily going to trade down, but now we might have to trade down because the way that this went was exactly the Patriots worst nightmare, right? These are realistic. We're going to discuss for the 21st pick. Yeah, this is a doomsday. Of course, it's the very first mock draft that we do. And then we have a doomsday scenario. Good straight off the bat. Good challenge. I think that let's talk about it though, because you just mentioned it. Jameson Williams, Trevor penning booth alaba. I think if they come away with it and then Jordan Davis was at 15, right? So he gave us one of those eagles picks. I think 16, 15, yeah. Yeah, so all of our and Garrett Wilson. So this is basically everybody that the Patriots might want to draft just went right off the board right before we could get to this pick. This is where you look at it. In a Devon, Lloyd went 14 is another one a lot of people. Right. So this is where I sit back and I look at it and I say, if this is the way that it looks, they got a trade down. They absolutely have to trade down because the drop off now that we're at is substantial where the guy that they're going to get when they trade down, I don't think is going to be that much worse. Now the problem that you have is that if you trade down too far, then for instance, if we go to the corner, so do we want to look at the best on the board, just laid out? Sure. But I think I would much rather draft him later. Right. Lindbergh's interesting one. I wonder if they would take a job over here and see it as value pick. No, I think it's still too high because he's going to be out for the whole year. The guy that I think is interesting here, if they're going to go that position, obviously, elam, we'll talk about too. I do like Jermaine Johnson from Florida state for them a lot..

"We're the blind spots are for this team. In terms of the draft and player development, jamison Williams sits right in that blind spot. So it's such a tremendous ask for them to take him and get it to work because it's everything that that's been elusive to them for the last 5 or 6 years or maybe longer. Yeah, I feel like that's why I've gravitated towards the guy like a lava if they're going to go first round because he's the type of technician that usually succeeds here. Right. I'm more on day two for that reason too. You know, I think there are other names that obviously we can throw out there and we'll probably I was like, you know, obviously repeating definitely will. The patrons will end up taking Drake London or something like that just to torture me. Oh, you love Drake London. Oh my gosh. Big Drake London guy. The NFL mock draft database. He's not a consensus first round pick. Good. Because here's the biggest problem with Drake London, okay? He's 6 foot 5, 210 pounds. The guy's a green bean, right? He's not Mike Evans. Everybody wants to cop him in Mike Evans. Mike Evans was 6 5, 230 pounds, right? Drake London is not that size. He's much skinnier. He's much thinner than a guy like Mike Evans. He doesn't have the play strength of a guy like Mike Evans. Oh God, foot speed, not there. Route running ability, good for a 6 foot 5 receiver. What does that mean? That means bad, right? Saying a guy who runs good rats for 6 foot 5 is just admitting that the guy's a bad route runner. That's the type of guy that they like because he's big, he can block, he can go up and get the ball and they'll draft him and he will be Nikhil Harry again, right? Like it's just the same thing. Right. If he runs in the four fours and I'll change my mind, but he's not going to. He's going to run mid four 5s. I'm sure of it. And a lot of people that I respect, a lot of really big draft experts, Todd mcshay, Dan brugler from the athletic, you know, a lot of these guys have Drake London very, very high on their boards. So I'm definitely in the breaking from the pack this year between trade London, Devin Lloyd. You just hate to pack 12, clearly. You're just still bitter at the pack 12 for you. It's in the hill thing, right? The thing that I always come back to with Devin Lloyd is I think what happens with guys like Devin Lloyd is that people type in Devon Lloyd's name on YouTube, they pull up Devon Lloyd highlight best linebacker in the nation and they watch 5 minutes of Devin Lloyd wrecking shop on a highlight reel, right? But when you actually go and you study Devin Lloyd's tape and you break down him play by play, he's very, very raw from off the ball. He doesn't understand how to take on contact. He doesn't click into blocking schemes very quickly. He's just a raw processor from off the line of scrimmage and quite frankly, just didn't look very interested in taking on very many blocks. So yeah, I can post a bunch of highlights of Devin Lloyd where he's unblocked and he's just allowed to just trigger to the football and he's a ridiculous missile and just taking guys out, but the second that.

"And he's just really a perfect blend of, okay, he does have that acceleration in that burst off the line of scrimmage to get up the field and create some big plays with his route running down the field, but he also has that ability to run if you're calling him to run it out. He's going to run the yardage marker that you want him to run at every single time. He's not going to drift. He's not going to take ten minutes to get out of the break. You're going to tell him to run. If you dump the run in 11 yard out, he's running the out at 11 yards, right? You tell him to run a 5 step slam. It's a 5 step slant. No problem. Those are the types of things that I think separate him from the rest of these guys. The only guy I have a head of a lobby on my wide receiver's rankings is Jameson Williams. Just 'cause I don't think you can teach that kind of speed. When you have that speed, it's just, it's just a difference. There's just a different pace that he moves at versus the rest of the class. But if I was grading it strictly on who's the technically the best wide receiver in the draft, it's Chris olave to me. Guys like Jameson just different type of speed. And I will always have those guys higher. All right, let's stick with wide receivers here for a second. And I add one addendum onto that. So go ahead. I saw some people in the chat bring nicobi dean and nicobi dean is a guy people have had that conversation with, right? They put him in the spot at Devon Lloyd there. The thing about Niko D is he's basically like, so he's listed right now at 6 foot two 25. There's speculation he's going to measure in at the combine at 5 ten. He's Kyle Duggar. He's right, he's not a linebacker. Bill is not looking at Napoleon thinking this is a linebacker I need. He's looking at nicobi dean thinking this is a safety I already have. So I get it, everybody is all in on, hey, the patriot state fast linebackers in Jacoby is fast and he played linebacker Georgia. That's not he's not the guy. He's not going to solve the problems the Patriots have. He's going to end up just sitting behind Kyle Duggar and Adrian Phillips if they draft him. Yeah, so Adrian Phillips, I was just looking this up. The Patriots list Adrian Phillips had 5 11 two ten. So he's essentially the same size as Adrian Phillips going to be a little bit bigger, a little bit thicker than Adrian Phillips is he's smaller than Kyle Duggar is. So as great as his open field athleticism is, his clicking clothes, like when he recognizes what he's seeing and his ability to close on the football from there is absolutely tremendous. I mean, it's ridiculous. The other thing that nicobi dean's really good at is he's got a great spatial awareness of the trash, right? All of the moving parts and things around him. He's got this like matrix flexibility to just be able to bob and weave and duck under contact that's really unique. I don't know if I can think of another prospect that is able to just slither in and out of blocks like nicobi dean can and he kind of has this 6th sense of where things are coming from and where blockers are coming from. I haven't really seen anybody be able to do that as well as he can. Maybe like a guy like Patrick Queen a few years ago, but it's something really, really rare..
