"End, Devin McCourty former patriots safety. How will my brother feel if I did that? He would probably want me to do something. He'd be pretty angry. You're right. You're right. Trying to get me in trouble, man. Will you make the announcement of what you're doing next year with your brother? I'm going to ask my kids, my daughter, she's 5 now. She's been adamant on me not playing football anymore. So whatever I decide, I'll let her decide how we do it. Okay. I think that would be nice. Give your brother something. Help his career a little bit. Well, he makes fun of me so much on TV. I'm not sure. Every time I have a bad play, he puts me up on a segment, but anytime I have a good point, I never seen my good plays on his show. So well, help a brother out, literally. Help a brother. Devin. Thanks for joining us. We appreciate it. I appreciate you. Thanks for having me. Devin McCourty. He won three super bowls there, patriots safety. His brother is Jason Courtney, done some nice work in the media there. Long career, man. 205. Games to play started in 205. There's no load management. By the way, Steve Kerr the Golden State Warriors is talking about, what if you reduce the season? What if you had like 72 games, would that change with load management? And the answer is no. I don't care how many games you play. This is all about gaining an advantage on the opposition. Go back to the spurs with Popovich. He's the one that started this. And he was like, I don't need to send my guys to Miami. I don't need to send Duncan and ginobili and Parker, stay here. It's not the number of games. But, you know, you're going to say to the players, hey, would you guys take a 10% reduction in your pay? That ain't happening. The owners, how do you make up that money for them, but I saw that with load management. I'm like, I don't think that that's going to happen. You're going to go to 72 games here. A couple of phone calls. Sean in Oregon. Hi Sean, what's on your mind today? Hey, I want to just call in defense to Jerry Jones a little bit. Sure. You know, I mean, I think America thinks that the cowboys, if they were healthy and ad poly and they played that game again, the cowboys probably win. And I kind of like Jerry Jones for kind of doing it his own way. He's the only owner that actually played football. You know, he played at Arkansas with Jimmie Johnson. And when you go to work for somebody, I always ask the owner what he did before this. And I always have more respect for the old man when he actually put on the tool bags. Yeah, but the problem I have with that, Sean, is sometimes when you play you think you know more and therefore you insert yourself in these decisions. I want a businessman running a business to hire people who then make the decisions. Jerry wants to make the decisions. Hey, you play defensive line. I don't care. That's part of the problem. Jerry thinks that, you know, I played it. I could coach it. I'm the GM. I'm the owner. He's too many things. It's when I hire somebody and you let them do what they do. I always go back to the Steelers. Ownership, the rooneys, what did they do? Going to hire chuck noll, chuck, be the coach. We're going to hire Bill cowher, Bill coach. Mike Tomlin, coach.

"I think he'll be moving pretty well. Explain to me why Travis Kelce is always open. Well, I will say watching the Jaguar game. Once mahomes got hurt, I would have changed my whole game playing up and we would have doubled Kelsey every play. I don't care. I don't care if we would have had a gaping hole in the coverage somewhere else. We would have doubled them. But I think he's such a mismatch. You know, you try to put a corner on them or a smaller safety that can run with them. He does a good job using his length, his strength. And if you put a linebacker on him, he's just too athletic and then I think the biggest thing he does is like you said, if he plays zone, he understands how to get in the gaps, how to get open. Don't run the coverage. I'm mahomes knows him. So I think you put those two guys together. You have a guy that is a big target and he got a quarterback that understands where he's going to be. You're in for a long day and he continues to do that in the playoffs throughout the regular season. But what's the difference between trying to cover Kelsey and trying to cover Gronk in practice? Gronk just was, I mean, he's humongous. You know, I think, you know, I think Kelsey naturally is a better route runner at a different things. He was able to do it when he first got in the league. For me, I came in with Gronk as a rookie. So the evolution of Gronk of being able to think brilliant has prime when he was really killing. He was a good route runner. He understood how to run right up on defenders tools. But I just think Gronk is just so big. It was always tough to even get past breakups to reach around him and get to the ball on Tommy's to put the ball only where you couldn't get it. It was almost an impossible cover. He's Devin McCourty, the patriot safety, won three super bowls. Your favorite Brady story. Is what? Favorite Brady story. I'll probably say obviously a lot of stories playing with them and winning games, but it was fun competing against them back last year and we played Tampa. I think early in October, later in the game, you know, when you play gravy, you gotta be, you gotta be on it and you gotta be smart and your strategy has to be, you know, on point. So at some point later, and again, we finally decided to go on all our blitz. And he got us a little bit with the snap count. So as he's sitting there smiles at us, knowing knowing what's coming, and he completes the past to break and I'm running down on him.

"Figure skating championships January 26th through the 29th on NBC and peacock that carries our program. Here's a stat for you. Dak Prescott's record 25 or less pass attempts is 16 and one. His record when he throws more than 26 passes, 45 and 35, including two and four in the postseason. Style of the day started the day sky of the day this is the state of the day. He's the better looking of the McCourty brothers he's Devin McCourty to patriot safety won three super bowls and he joins us on the program. I thought that'd bring a smile to your face. I called you the better looking McCourty brother. It's been a rough man everywhere I've gone so far all I keep hearing about is how great he's doing on TV. He's this. He's there. I just don't see it. Why is he not playing? Or why are you still playing? Well, he started a year before me. So I had to make sure I caught up to him. But you know, he got an old and slow, so the other time. All right, we're going to play the Devin McCourty game and Pauly, would you give the official rules here? Devin camp play, but he can listen to this. So Devin started his career as a cornerback, then switched to safety in year three. So he has played 205 career games at cornerback, basically at the end of how many games. 205. He started every game of his career. So I got me thinking, that seems like a lot of games for a safety. Wow. Over 200. Okay, how many safeties in NFL history have started 205 games or more like Devin mccordy hits? And can you name any of them? Can we name it? Did one play for the Steelers? No, I'll give you the teams. There's only three all time. One was a patriot quite a while. One was an eagle forever. One was mostly in Atlanta.

"I mean, they had to win, so they would win the division. But I think him missing those games, you saw the value of him not being able to play in those games. It was just, I think, I think he had to look closer Jalen hurts his season. I think when you look at his season, you look at his stats and you go, oh wow. So he was top 5 passer and top 5 and rushing touchdowns. Didn't have many turnovers. How many turnovers did he have? Just a couple this year. He did exactly what you want him to do. You got a talented team. He took advantage of that. They run the football. That's what I'm curious about with the offensive philosophy, the eagles against the niners. Are they going to be able to rush for a 152 hundred yards in this game? As a passer hurts went from 16 touchdowns last year to 22, three fewer interceptions, his quarterback rating went from 87 to one O 1.5. Yeah. He's most improved, but he's not going to be most valuable. And Joe burrow with what Joe burrow did towards the end of the year when they won ten games in a row, if you include the postseason, he was as valuable as anybody in the NFL. Bob stern is a co host of the hard line. It's an afternoon drive show on the ticket in Dallas and bob kind enough to join us. Bob, you got 5 assistant coaches who were fired. Or they were let go or not brought back whatever the semantics are with this. So what is the message that's being sent here by Jerry Jones? Well, you know, that's always the $1 million question, Dan. And I think to a certain extent, it starts with who's coming back from the coordinator position. But in general, the idea that you're losing Dan Quinn feels relatively assured, Kellen Moore feels like a coin flip and I suppose the opportunity, if you will, or at least the obligation to kind of reimagine your coaching staff and maybe even your offensive scheme, which I would be all for is clear and present. And I guess they're getting out ahead of that with guys with expiring deals, maybe allowing them to go pursue other possibilities. That's fine. I expect we're not just talking about tier three assistant coaches being allowed to expire. I assume there's more sweeping changes, afoot. But again, with Jerry, he's pretty good about protecting his cards until he has to tell the world. But you were talking about offensive philosophy, maybe changing that offensive philosophy. Go into detail about that. Well, in general, and this is a sweeping generalization, but allow me that in the sense that Jason Garrett and Scotland installed an offense that was either for Tony Romo or for very, very young dak Prescott. And very, very young deck Prescott wasn't making a lot of money, but he was also definitely driving the bus. And as this thing has evolved and as Mike McCarthy has taken over, I was under the impression that McCarthy was going to bring in a lot of the stuff that he likes to do.

"Patrick show check in with the cowboys. Also, the Patriots safety, three times Super Bowl champ, Devin McCourty will join us as well. We will speak to somebody who was on the sidelines in Kansas City with the injury to Patrick Mahomes. He is the football night in America's sports medicine analyst Mike Ryan. He was there when mahomes came off the field and he'll give us an update of what we should be looking for with mahomes. Yesterday at practice, or at least what we saw with the limited video there, it looked like mahomes was moving a little more freely, and even when he went to the press conference when he walked away. That's different. Once you start playing, cutting, quick decisions, quick movements there. Can he still beat you from the pocket? The answer is yes. But there's no real pass rush during practice. Nobody's coming in to hit you, and once Cincinnati dials up their defense as we like to say, then we'll get a true assessment of Patrick Mahomes, how healthy is. Here's mahomes talking about the treatment he's receiving this week. Yeah, I was able to do some extra testing just to make sure everything was good. Not after the game and then get a few things done to help the treatment kind of start off and then the next few days is just kind of been I mean all day thing where you're just doing either treatment or rehab or watching film and I had to take Britney a few places with me so I can be around the kids a little bit, but it's a full day thing where you're trying to make sure that you're obviously prepared for the Bengals and the great football team. Mentally and physically. And you would expect him to say he's good to go and that's exactly what he said when he talked about how his ankle is feeling. It's doing good, you know, I've got a few days of treatment a few days of rehab. I'm excited to get on the practice field and kind of test it out and see where I'm at, but it's feeling good so far. And the line is Bengals are minus one against Kansas City. Do you realize the niners game against Philadelphia is the oh, that's right. That's the NFC title game. All of the focus has been on the Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs. Eagles hosting the forty-niners is a that's the other game. That's right. Eagles are favored by two and a half against the niners. Yes, Paul. I was really surprised by the over under in the game. Eagles niners, I thought would be really low scoring. I think people think it's gonna be low scoring because of the good defenses. It's 46. Bengals chiefs is 47, one point different. I hadn't looked at it until now. I would have thought it'd be 6 or 7 point different over on you. See, no Connor, give me the poll question for hour two, and then we'll check in with the cowboys. Dan, let me give you an update from the first hour. The chiefs lose on Sunday, it'll be because of Patrick Mahomes ankle or Joe burrow's arm. Right now, Joe borrows are still winning 61% of the vote. Okay. Are we going to go with something different for our two? We are, as a matter of fact, you want to just do, can we do a poll on just who wins the MVP? Yeah. I guess. You do that? Yeah. I mean, I think it's mahomes, but I'd have no problem if it's Jalen hurts. Yeah. I think what happened with him not playing at the end of the year, they didn't have meaningful games at the end of the year.

"If you're at Wrigley tonight too, by the way, and you see Joey chest, not just start filming. Just take your phone out, just do the thing. Just give video of them. He said he's engaged again is what he said. Do you think it's the same person or different individual? I did hear that again and there. Sounded like a different person. He kind of laughed at me. Oh, you think so? It was kind of like a yeah. You've done a lot of weird things in real life. Have you ever been engaged? I thought so once. I woke up next to someone and we had rings on our last calls. I've been to some chapels, they didn't answer, luckily. Who the chapel didn't answer? Chappell didn't answer, so was that in Las Vegas, Nevada? It was in Tahoe. Okay? Answer your question. Very good. A lot of beer straws that night. Yep. Hot dog beer straw, hashtag it. Oh baby. That is tonight. So you'll be on the lookout for that, right, TJ? No. What do you mean no? Mets are off tonight. I know. So I got to take a day off myself. Last night, this last couple of days were stressful baseball. I know that lead over the braves down to Sarah's very happy. Down to two, was she rooting for the Yankees actually the last couple of nights for the first time in a long time? Yeah. Something happened in the game where I was just like, please get a hit here or something. And it might have been for Alonso, and she's like, what are you talking about? I'm like, I don't want the Yankees to win ever. I mean, with all due respect to your team. And I respect you, sir. I wrote for two teams, the red Sox, and it was ever playing the Yankees. I respect I respect you on that front. And that sort of spite will help keep you warm in October as you watch other people play baseball. That would be great. I'm already looking at the 2023 schedule that's out. Is that right? Yeah. Who's going to be your starting pitcher? First week? No idea. Nick pavetta. As dever is going to be paid or not. I mean, honestly, I have no idea. Nick pavetta. That's who you want to be your opening day starter. He's our best pitcher right now. Guys, that's a horse. Oh, he turned it around because it was coop and I dropped him a few weeks ago. Oh, he's been great. Yeah, he's been great. I don't know. It's going to be great though. Aaron judges return to Yankee Stadium as June 9th. Are you saying what's up with the San Francisco Giants are in? That's when the Red Sox play, though. Yeah, right. That will happen when a spot very warm spot freezes over. You keep on warming your heart by that fire, sir. I saw people tweeting out the Giants like JoJo's return to Yankee Stadium. Got it. Got it. 48 and counting for 99. Is he going to get 61, do you think? I don't know. It's been a rough goal. He's only one off. We've got four against the a's and then three against the arty morenos. So we'll see. But he tells us a week left in August and he's got like the third or fourth most home runs ever before. Well, that'll wrap it up for this edition of the rich eyes and show we greatly appreciate it. We'll see you right back here on our YouTube stream on Thursday. "Good morning football. And I noticed he tapped out of your Twitter account and created his own, you cool with that? Yeah, I told him. Rich, I was finished practice and I will go check Twitter and then we'll be like 20 mentions about his show. Just I haven't watched any of good morning football. I don't know what he said. People are blowing us up about some take he had on this team is not going to be a contender as our bro, you got to get you on Twitter. I can't deal with this every day. And I'm still getting tweets about what he said and I just try to direct the people to his own personal account because I'm sure he's saying a lot of nonsense on there every morning. So again, I don't want to start anything, but you kind of open the door there. So you're saying Jason's bad takes are clogging up your Twitter timeline. Devin, his bad ticks are clogging up your Twitter timeline. You mentioned that? No doubt about it. But I did sell them, man. Be aggressive with your take. And whatever you feel say, don't try to play the fit. Okay. And let's just say on your biweek, Jason once a week off, will you sneak in there and purport to be him and try and trick everybody and spend a week and get off your chest with Belichick won't let you get off your chest and let your brother own it. Can you do that, Devin? What do you think? I'm all for it. But we got to kind of keep that low. I can't get fired. You know, I just thought we won't go well for me. The wife will be angry if I'm stuck at home. I stood understood, I got it. I guess I should have asked you that offline instead of putting that out from front of the people just like that. But your brother's doing a great job though. He sure is. He's a natural actor. He's a natural. He is. No, I told him too when he came on and we'll have him on again and I just think that's not an easy gig that show is freewheeling. There's not a lot of prompter. You got to say stuff off the top of your head, you got to react, and I think he's doing a really great job so far. Really did. He likes to talk. Okay, very good. All right, and last one for you, Devin. We've noticed in our review of Bill Belichick's press conferences. That he's been smiling a little bit more. And thrown out compliments more than usual. Has he mellowed? Do you think? He's a happy guy, man. I don't know. I think you could probably get that out of him. I think you would be able to figure out what's got to happen. I don't know, life. I don't know. Just in football. Hey, grandchildren, man, grandchildren do that. That's right, because you can hand them off once you're done with them. Once you're done with them, you give them back to the parent. Grandparents, it's the best part about it. Man, Devin, thanks for the time, greatly appreciate the time calling in from Vegas. And let's chat during the season. Always appreciate our conversation. Take care. That's Devin McCourty right here on the rich eisen show. Don't worry about the offense, Chris. That's what he sets the message. Is he off the phone? He is? With all due respect, Devin. I'm very worried. I'm very worried see the reports that they had their worst offensive practice of the summer? I'm reading all the tweets. I can't get enough. It's just like, you know what I mean? I'm not happy unless I'm unhappy, I'm very unhappy, which means I'm happy, but I'm reading all the tweets, and it's driving me insane. How many more days until the season starts? Well, September 11th is when the Patriots visit Miami. Today is the 20 fourth, is it? Yes, I think we're like 14. There's still time to get started. There's still time to go. Two plus weeks. There you go. And get someone who knows what they're doing. That won't happen. And Matthew trusts, bro here we go. Not in Patricia I trust and judge I trust. Oh man, what if can you put the patriot schedule up? Let's put the patriot schedule up, please. There it is. 200. You have not. You want to do it? Yeah, did you pick them to win like 12 games? I think I did ten and 7. Wait a minute. I feel like I did this already. Hold on a minute, let me get you 1000%. Let me write this down. He has not done it. I write these down. On my book, and we have not done it. He has not done it. Maybe he did it with you guys. Maybe did you do it? Did you do it? You weren't buying my rakish at? You didn't do it. You didn't do it in July. You can't do it in July. No, you made me do the cowboys in July. Well, it's because you were talking some game. I barely let him 11 and 6. You had an 11 and 6 and I had the eagles at 12 and 5. And a fan of the show, I didn't write whose name down had the Giants go 9 and 8. All right, well let's do it. Can you give me please? Yes sir. NFL films music. Chris brockman after just hearing from Devin mccordy, you say, don't worry, the offense will be okay. Mac Jones is much more confident, believes in him. Everybody chill out, Patricia's always done more than just defense he's done offense before. And so after hearing all that from Devin McCourty, Chris brockman still is all wound up about how bad the offense reportedly looks. They had a good day today, apparently. Perfect timing then, Chris. Let's go. I need the music patriots schedule is up. Chris brockman week one at Miami. Loss. Week two, the first team to visit actress year stadium. Bounce back win. Win. Home for the ravens. Loss. At the Green Bay Packers.

"And then the way that the season did end, despite the terrific stretch in the middle, it was a learning curve. And I'm just wondering if you think he comes in more confident. This year. Yeah, I mean, this is probably one of the hardest places to be. You plan for a franchise that has won multiple super bowls. You come behind Tom Brady is just I think everything was stacked up there and I think last year he came in and did a great job of just going to work. He spent so much time in the facility working with different guys, figuring things out. And I think that was a good foundation for him. And I think this year, it's like all right, I've done that now. Let me try to advance the move to the next level and ignore all other things and just try to be the best version of myself. And I think the group that we have player wise on office encouraging them upbeat guys. They love to have fun. I think that's made a lot easier for him to come out and just kind of sling it and have fun and play football. And then they defensive side of the ball that do your job aspect of that. How is it coming together? Obviously, JC Jackson's not with the team anymore. Two cents on how things are looking on that side of the ball that clearly you're part of Devin. Yeah, I think we've had some really good moments, I think. We have a lot of good players up front. And I think that's probably the strength right now. When I look at guys like borrower and judean, it got shower and Bentley. Those guys have been so aggressive. We saw here over the last two days getting after the past and are making plays and I think in the secondary, we have a lot of familiarity right now. With guys doing multiple things like Jonathan Jones and miles Brian and then our safety group return in the three guys that played a lot last year myself, AP and Doug. We've just been putting it together. I think we've kind of challenged ourselves to kind of take it up a notch. You saw we step on the field and I think that's been the battle and obviously like I said, we've had some really good moments and we'll figure things out as we get into game plan and doing more things like that as a season comes. But I'm excited with some of the things we can do as a defense and growth from there. But I think having some of the older guys, the guys that have played in this defense for a while will help us especially earlier in the season. We had the former head of NFL refs, Mike Pereira, who now works as a rules analyst on Fox talking to us the other day. Devin McCourty about the league's emphasis on the illegal contact rule and how there were so few penalties in that regard last year, the competition committee has instructed the officials to put more of an emphasis on it to see those numbers go up. Have you noticed that? And if so, what is Belichick already counseled you guys knowing that is coming? Well, we always talk about do businesses business being done. So you've got to kind of gauge how to call it, but I hate it. I hate why do we need more illegal contact. We can barely touch the receivers and stuff already. So to think that they're going to that they're going out there and calling more. We met with the rest and they told us the same thing of how they're going to be trying to see that more call it more. So another challenge for defensive players and particularly in the secondary of how we can get the office to score more points. So when the officials came to camp and told you that, did you push back? I mean, you're 13 year vet. I did it. I've learned, I've had, again, now 13 times where we met with officials. And it's usually a back and forth, and each Sunday, I would say it's a little different. And you got to figure it out through that first quarter. How's it gave? Do you call it? Not just for you, paying attention a little bit when our offense is on the field. How are they calling it? What calls are they calling it a DPI going to be called close holding legal contact? Like all that stuff you watch and then you kind of go as they gave me a call and I will say the good referees in this league, they call it however it goes. They kind of call it like that. And I think you got to gauge off that and play from there. I mean, you're a safety. You got guys much bigger than you sometimes coming at you off the line, you know? I mean, sometimes you got to grab a tug a little bit. You got to get good at it. That's what I'll say, that's what derral rig has taught me. It's not that you don't hold. You got to get good at holding. What a line. It's not that you don't hold you got to get good at holding. That's what he said to you, huh? Wow. That's what it's about. You got to learn the trick for the trade. Devin McCourty here on the rich eisen show. Devin, I don't want to start anything but I'll do it. I know how about that is a wind up for my pitch here. No, no, no, your brother is now part of the paparazzi part of my world at the NFL network now.

"So the rich eisen show is moving to the Roku channel for free. This September. Joining us here a long time veteran in this league and of course of the New England Patriots, Devin McCourty back here on the rich Eisenhower here doing Devin. I'm good, how you doing, I'm doing great. I'm gonna jump right into it right here. Who gets the cirque du Soleil tickets? You were Belichick. Who gets that for you guys? Definitely not me. So bill's on it, bill's on it for you guys. The blue man group. He's all on it. I definitely see him doing that for us. Sounds like a good day for tomorrow. Don't you think? Yeah, you should ask him. Have you seen the blue man group tonight, Bill? I mean, we're in Vegas. Why not? Why not? Although everything that happens there stays there. So I appreciate you trying to keep that keep that under wraps. So walk me through what's going on in your world and how and how different things might be in this training camp based on other previous ones in the ever changing world of the New England Patriots, Devin. Anything? Yeah, I mean, I think at the end of the day, man, it's back and forth is going back and forth. I mean, obviously last week, parking is Carolina was different. And I think just being out here in Vegas, we obviously opened week one in Miami so that heat and the weather. So being out here in the last three days, we practiced by ourselves on Monday. So being out here and then practicing against this quality team, I think, has been a lot of good work for us, some back and forth. There are talented groups. So I know just speaking from a defensive side, we got a lot of good work seeing against seeing against guys like devonte Adams, guys, we don't see all the time. And those different guys, I think we got some really good looks out here. So yeah, and Waller as well. I'm sure he presents a challenge in a practice in a scrimmage. He hasn't been out here this week, so we haven't gotten to see you. Okay. He's probably yeah, they're ready to unpack him at some point. I imagine. Okay. So what's going on in the world of the offense on that side of the ball? Devin, there's so much concern about the way the offense is being run and who's coordinating and who's calling the plays. What insight can you give us on how the offense looks right now? For New England. It's a work in progress and I think a lot of those guys have been talking about that in speaking about it and I think that's what it is. I know for me, it's my 13th year. I've never worried about the office. I've always felt like my concern needs to be what I do for this team, that's why I'm defense and being a lead on a defensive side. And I think everything comes along when it comes along. I've been in camps before where offensively it felt like we were behind and then it sees a hit and you can see the game plan and then everything gets rolling. So I know there's a lot of questions from the outside. I think, but inside us as a team, guys, it's just been kind of trucking along figuring things out and you know there's some real good moments out here on the practice field on its fund in these joint prices getting a chance to just share the office on having fun and I think we got to do a little bit of that the last two days. Weird seeing Patricia huddle up with the offense to you, get weird seeing him doing that? I would say at first, but I think coming off of last year, he did so many different things. He helped out with the he held out with the defense. So he was just all over the place and I think now he's still figuring out and doing multiple roles for the team at right now and I've been more offensive. I think it's been good for us. So he's doing more than just calling the plays. Is what you're saying? I have to tell you the truth. I have no idea what they do on office. I love it. Okay. I appreciate that honesty right there. Devin McCourty. Here on the rich eisen shows, you just mentioned your 13 for this terrific professional football player and we're back here on the rich eisen show terrestrial radio outfit talking with Devin mccordy calling in from Las Vegas, Nevada, where the Patriots are going through a scrimmage right now. I know you just mentioned how you don't really know what's going on in the offensive side of the ball because you're focused on your side. Do you notice a difference though when Mac Jones at all the way he carries himself the way that he's walking around, the team, the way that he huddles up anything like that? Do you notice a difference? No doubt about it. I think he's just been way more of himself this year, I think. When you come into anything in your rookie, I think everything is on how do I learn? I need to learn to do this. I need to learn everything possible. I feel like this year he's kind of let some of that go. He's obviously still learning, but he's being himself. He's leading. He's doing the things that I think he did at Alabama that he did in high school. And that's the things I've been encouraged him. Don't try to be a type of leader that you think you should be just be yourself there has been a lot of fun. I also see as an older guy to watch him grow in just a year and do different things. It's helped us out a lot offensively. And I will say overall even as a team. Yeah, he just seems to be more in command or at least more comfortable. Obviously being a rookie in the league, it couldn't be helpful as well as he's trying to find his way in his place that Brady returned, right? I mean, that had to be something different for him to deal with.

"From injury, pressure on Sean marks on Steve Nash. On the entire organization, I think from top to bottom, I think that meeting was important because everyone has to be better. So there's no doubt whatever word you want to use, whether it's there's going to be a very thin line to this season. No question. When that adversity hits, when you lose games, how will those star players those stakeholders take it? That's going to be very important. But those habits are going to be built in training camp. And we're going to know as training camp goes and as that's going along, what the tenor of those relationships within those fine lines is going to be. But there's no question. There's going to be pressure on this entire organization, really the moment media day tips off on September 20 6th. Okay, and last one for you. Omnibus, what's the latest steps for the Lakers Russell Westbrook his future? Now that LeBron has signed an extension, what do you think? I would expect the Lakers to continue to look at the marketplace to make their team better. And I don't think there's a concerted effort to moving Russell Westbrook. I think the concerted effort is, can we make a deal with certain players on the roster with picks that we have to improve this team? And there's not going to be a deal out there, then I think this team is pretty comfortable standing pat. And running it back with darvin ham, newly at the helm, but I think I would keep a close eye on guys like Patrick Beverly boy on bugged out of it, those are the guys that are still on the marketplace right now that could be available. I didn't know Beverly was available. Until he blamed it all on Durant that he's still available. I saw that today. That was great. Did you see that one? Sean, did you see that one? I did. I think Utah has a bevy of guys. We look at domino Mitchell. Those talks with the mix of continuing other teams around the league are talking about jazz about Donovan Mitchell, but I think the best aside from Mitchell when you look at Beverly Bogdanovich might calmly Jordan Clarkson, I Malik Beasley, I think all those guys at a certain price tag are available. Sean, thanks for the call. Really appreciate it. I always love picking your brain. Thanks for the time. Look for more of my calls, please. Thank you, sir. Thank you, rich. Have a good one. The one and only Sean sharron, I follow him on Twitter, you should as well. Let's take a break. We'll come back and Devin McCourty of the New England Patriots is just called in will take his call in just a few

"Well, the only thing that really changed in the last few years was a rival of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. So I don't know how those two guys took it, but that was something that did occur. And then I think you have to look at the Kyrie Irving extension negotiations. And the fact that both sides were not able to get a deal done, Kevin Durant has vocally supported privately supported Kyrie Irving over the last 6 to 8 months while I think a lot of people have come down on Kyrie Irving. And so I think you cobble those two things in the situation. Adam Harrington and assistant on the nest staff who was very close with Kevin Durant a guy that's known throughout the league as a Durant confidant, he was fired at the end of the season. And so you take all those things to account and just a lack of communication that existed between both sides and again that's something on both sides, right? That's something on the player side. It's something on the team side, because at the end of the day, the only way you're going to get resolutions, the only way you're going to get past moments in life that are tough is through conversation and through a real relationship and through an open form and it took these guys rich two months to get in the same room in a meeting together. Well, actually, more than that, it made June, July, August 4 months to get in the same room. And two months into trade requests. So that tells you everything you need to know about where this gulf existed. Here on the rich eisen show, the athletic and stadium senior NBA insider, look, I mean, I'm sure you've been involved in negotiations in your career, doing what you do. I have as well. Anytime you agree to something based on the fact that management doesn't give you what you want and presents the reality as a theta, it doesn't really sit in well with the person who accepts the fed accompli and that's Durant, the fed accomplishes that we're not getting the value that we place on you. You should take that as a compliment, although that prevents you from getting the exit Visa you want. And you don't want to hold out. We don't want you to hold out. So let's just, you know, let's just go back together again and let bygones be bygones. Is that really the way it's going to be? Is that the way they're entering the season with this still bubbling beneath the surface? Or was this conversation in Los Angeles airing things out? And they really have come to an agreement. And it's all hunky Dory. What do you got for me? I think it's a little bit of both. And that's why these things are complex. It's not just a black and white situation. I think this is very, very complex. It could be both things. Now, in a perfect world, in a perfect life, I think Kevin Durant clearly would have loved to get traded. And I think the nets in a perfect world, they wouldn't have had the restrictions of The Rookie designated extension rule that didn't allow them to get a guy like bam adebayo or Donovan Mitchell on the roster because they had been Simmons on the team. And in a perfect world, the nets would have gotten teams gutting their roster and giving every last asset like Joe sci and Sean marks had wanted in any type of Kevin Durant trade. So that's in a perfect world. But as we know, rich, the world and life just isn't perfect, especially for a guy like he's got four years left on his deal. So trade like this, if this was going to go down during training camp before training camp during the season, it was going to get uglier than what it already was. And that might be tough for the listeners to believe and tough for people to believe, but that's a business. And in the NBA, if a guy wants to trade, it's going to get ugly. If a guy on a four year deal wants to trade, we saw what happened with Ben Simmons, we saw the side of that took place. And I think both sides at the end of the day, Kevin Durant, 33, going on 34, the legacy at the end of the day that he's built the stature that he's built in this league. He's going to go down as a top ten to 20 player of all time. Do you want to put yourself in a position where you're holding out of games and clearly he did not want to go down that route, including the nets didn't want him to go down that route. So and on the same token, I do think this opportunity from everything I've been told, they left that meeting energized and ready for next season. I don't think this meeting was Kevin Durant left and he's like, man, I still want to get traded like what the hell. I don't think that's the tenor. I know that's not how the tenor of that conversation ended. Best you can tell her he and Kyrie Kool, because again, he Kyrie returns, and Durant, in rich climate, are very astute. He had a no, like I'm going to ask for a trade, and I know that in this day and age, those people like Durant are accommodated because they're Durant. But they had to know that they could end like this as well. So why would he opt out after Kyrie opt in? Why would that happen? Yeah, I think a couple of things. One, I think, yes, I mean, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, they continued their relationship. You know, the one guy since the NBA since the next season ended on April 23rd, the one guy with the nets that Kevin Durant had remaining communication with from everything I've been told was Kyrie Irving. That will go one guy that he was communicating with on a regular basis. But their friendship, that relationship goes beyond just basketball.

"They have half their roster, right? I mean, they have a big hole to fill there. So I actually think that they could draft over that quite easily and be able to just make sure that this team not only has some plug and play guys for 2022 is obviously the main goal. But looking ahead to 2023, there's going to be a lot of turnover again. And at some point, we're going to start talking about some of these other Devin McCourty, for example, and Matthew slater said this to us this morning. There was a conversation there between those two guys like, are we going to come back? Are we going to do this again? And if we are, we're doing it together at some point they're going to look at each other and say we're done, right? So you start looking ahead at some of these needs in 2023 too, which I know the Patriots are going to do in the draft. They're not just looking at it as a one year prism..

"At a certain point, miles Bryan, I think it's just a matter of miles Bryant's not physically fast enough to cover his aim McKenzie. McKenzie's one of the fastest players in the league. I think anybody is so at a certain point you need to recognize that make a change. Whether it's, you know, giving Deangelo Ross a shot. And would that have worked? Would Ross have been able to cover? I don't know. But you don't know until you try. And it was kind of one of those things. Honestly, Devin McCourty is probably the fastest player in the defense. He played some corner. I would have given Devin McCourty look there. Just a look to see what happens. They were so good. The other problem is, you know, you like to think Sean wade could get a look there. He's an actor. Juan Williams. I don't know if this is a matchup for Juan Williams. Maybe you come out with Williams who significantly bigger and he just jammed at the line. He upset the timing. He's an active. They weren't ready on all of I think they expected the bills with all their COVID cases wide receiver to come out and just run run and run. And I don't know how you can expect that from that team. Yeah. They weren't ready. They weren't ready for it. And they were caught totally off guard once and started happening. No adjustments whatsoever. Again, I think miles Bryant's a good player. I think he, there's a role for him on this team and he can do a lot of things that they need. But at a certain point, you know, he didn't play well, but at a certain point, it's on the coaching staff. At a certain point, the dude's getting beat time and time again. You can't just leave him out there to try like that. It's not like, you know, he was covering them all game, and then Mackenzie started popping off in the fourth quarter. If that happens, that.

"He doesn't feel like a rookie when it comes to the preparation for talking about the game. I think he's come with that and I think part of that is what he did at Alabama those guys are always playing for championships. The other guys that play a quarterback in front of them are all in the NFL right now. So I don't think anything is new to him. What we're trying to do as a team and I think that's really paid off for us and I think he's just a focus a lot on what he needs to do on himself and I think a lot of us as older guys kind of told him I don't change that. That's how you become a good player in this league, keep doing those things. All right, and a couple of minutes I have left with you, Devin McCourty. First one, I got two more questions for you. First one, I'm going to go in that third rail direction, which is making you talk about your coach Bill Belichick, but you've been around. You've been there for 12 years. Do you think he's got a little bit of a reinvigoration because of what's happening this year after last year that Mac Jones is there that you seem to be back on the patriot way track based on somebody who's just watching it. Do you see Belichick in any different way this year, Devin? I want to say different, but I would say last year, less of that face that everybody mouth thought. It was it wasn't what we wanted. It wasn't an expectation that wasn't the standard. And I think all of us kind of walked out of here last year after that last game against the jets. I'm happy that we won the game, but also that feeling of like, well, we don't want to be living this way again..

"The New England Patriots getting set to play Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills to wrap up week number 13 in the NFL is none other than a longtime pro and it's 12th season out of Rutgers right now for the New England Patriots Devin McCourty. How are you doing, Devin? I'm doing all right. How you doing? I'm doing fine. I appreciate you just joining us fresh off the practice field right now. You've been around some championship teams. They're sir, and you've been around some teams that have gotten hot and then made the Super Bowl. Is this one of those teams? Do you think? I don't know, man. I would say all those teams are not at all. I would say in the process we didn't know. And I would say some of those teams, we have some tough times on adversity that hit where if you look back there were a lot of people down in the sand, there was no chance of that. So I think all those teams don't have one thing about it, they were willing to work hard and not worry about everything else that was going on outside but just kind of focused on the team and that's what we've been appreciating here all year. Obviously starting two or four was an idea, but I think the mentality of all the guys in this locker room almost staying focused on each other staying focused on the team has enabled us to go on a little bit of a Wall Street and I think you've heard it in the last few weeks from a lot of different players. We want to keep that mentality and we want to keep that going for us to play. So then what I have seen, this isn't my first rodeo at the NFL, as you know. I have seen many patriots teams certainly on defense play this way before, but it usually it's right around now when it begins to gel because so many guys who come in new don't understand or conceive of what the do your job mentality is and how this defense works, but you guys have been balling out for weeks. Why? Would you say, Devin? I think it's just a combination of guys understanding their roles, guys going out there and doing it. And I think the biggest part we've done a better job at comparative beginners is situational football. And all of a key situations call it two minute where we know they're passed and they have to pass..

"To see what he's got. Either way, they're testing him and they're and they're trying to see how good he is going to be, but we can talk about Mac a little bit more in a second. I want to go back to Camp because I do think I have seen some steady progress from Cam Newton out at practice in the last four days. And what we have definitely seen is in structure wage when the play goes as planned when the defense gives him, what? He's expecting. Much more in Rhythm timing, accuracy type of throws from Cam and what we saw in khong. Last year during the season last year at times and in minicamp in June. So when everything is going, the way that he expects and when he reads the defense and he's comes up with things that he's expecting to see. You are seeing him make to me more high-level throws in this training camp than maybe we have seen in making the past. They work a lot in the Red Zone. He did throw a bomb to Nelson agholor on day 3, which was kind of like a wow moment and was it was a great throw and a lot of the throws that I have seen in make high-level in the red zone or to the corner of the ends of the back corner of the endzone. The guys like born, he threw one to push and we'll call in on day for a through a couple to Born some to a gal or in the back of the end zone where you see him get to the right read, make the right decision, put the ball on a good spot and hit it back in Rhythm on time. Within the framework of the other of the offense and with the Playbook that, that's what you want to see from cam. Now he talked about it after practice on Friday, when we spoke to him that the dog A little bit of hesitation that he still has, is when the defense changes, right? Like, when he mentioned Devin mccourty's, you come to the line of scrimmage and Devin McCourty shows me something. And Kyle Duggar shows me some thoughts, a Hightower moves over a little bit and then it's like, kind of like, you gotta reset the whole board, right? So when he goes into the meetings and he says and Josh, McDaniels puts a play up on the board and he said, okay, I'm defense shows you cover one. Where are you going with this ball? He's got the answer like that, but when the defense changes on him in the picture changes and then he has to make an adjustment on the fly off until maybe a little bit of hesitation, but I do definitely think that we've seen some improvements from Camp. I do, and I think there's been specific throws to. There was one, we talked about it, a good amount. I think it was day to the one to Boldin, right? And, and, and we talked about it that good a good amount where he was in the Red Zone. Yeah. Old and runs an option route to the sidelines in cam. Just the balls out before the turn. Nice, touch, perfectly placed like made the pre-snap. Read everything that came didn't do last year. Every night. We said, cam needs to be better at home was embodied on that throat now, it's just one throw he did make a similar one..

What's the significance to be mentioned amongst? The legends of the game that have also contributed so greatly to communities and endeavors like that. Yeah, man. It's unbelievable Honor, I think especially because I'm gonna lock me where there's so many guys who can get this this nomination and to represent our team for me. You can learn more about this award at NFL dot com slash Man of the year. It might be an old guy, but you're a good guy. Devin. Appreciate the time this morning on the show my bad. Okay. You to Devin McCourty joining us this morning on the show, and that answer about Matthew Stafford is the perfect answer. Which is the exact opposite of Teddy Bruschi's reasoning behind Matthew Stafford not wanted to play New England. You know, Devin McCourty gets it. Accordions there saying, Hey, I can't say the guy is soft. I can't say the guy doesn't want to be coached hard. I don't know that guy. I don't know. I'm not one to say what a guy wants or what a guy doesn't want. If he says that we play him. It's up to us to show him that we could beat him, but If you didn't want to play with us or somewhere else, he's got his reasons. I'm not going to say this because he's too soft. Devin McCourty nailed it. And he says, it's easy to say that basically That what brewskis, saying? It's just kind of like hogwash. It's easy to say you're the guy soft. Just want to play with us. But in reality, there's a million other things that go into it. And like I said, it's interesting. One of our listeners sent an email along this morning. Robert in South Carolina. Southern California actually The other s C. Of the Matthew Stafford clip, and this clip is extraordinary during commercial break. I'm like, Oh, my goodness. Pete's like what? You watching What's happening? So watching this Matthew Stafford clip again? Because I've seen it before. It's at the end of the game. I think it's his rookie season against the Browns. They lied. They trailed by six points. 37 31 With about eight seconds to play, Matthew Stafford winds up and throws a ball downfield. He gets absolutely crushed by a Browns defensive lineman. He separates his shoulder on the play. He's writhing in pain, the game would be over, except there's a penalty in the end zone, lining up one final play at the one yard line. Stafford is on the ground. He needs to be helped up by his teammates. And he's saying Hey, don't touch my shoulder. He goes to the sideline as the doctors bring him off the field, and he lies down on the ground. Yelping and pain, his shoulders separated. They're like, Hey, we got to get to the locker room. Brown's take a time out. This gives Matthew Stafford enough time to say I'm going to go back in there and the doctors go. Whoa, whoa, whoa. No, Matt, you can he goes, I'm going back in there. I can throw He pushes the doctors away. Says. If you need me to throw it can throw Is he separates his other shoulder. He goes on the field, untimed down from the one yard line takes the snap throws a game winning touchdown pass. Goes off the field before the extra point is kicked, because that ties it up and says You can't touch my shoulder. Calvin Johnson comes over Megatron to congratulate him. Yes, that just tap him. Because you can't touch his shoulder. Matthew Stafford is carried basically off of the field regular season game against the Browns. That guy's too soft for Bella checks coaching and come on. What? Just like a such a cheesy, stupid thing for brewski to say it is such a dismissive, disrespectful thing to say about a guy like Stafford, who's played all 16 Games nine of the last 10 years with a myriad of injuries. Belichick reaches milestone as Patriots top Raiders 36-20

"Everyone is time for the bonus episode postgame recap for Vegas Nation podcast. I'm your host Heidi Fang and I'm joined with our readers writers, Ed Greenie, Adam. Hill we're going to break down what happened here in the Raiders Lost Thirty six to twenty against the New England Patriots here Gillette Stadium in Foxborough at an ir up in the press box Adam back in Vegas a from my vantage point it was. A lot of mistakes made by the raiders, which is something you can't do against the bill belichick coach team. So we're GONNA get all into that here but I I want to remind everybody that we are brought to you by Salmon Ash, indeed visa and also favor. So make sure to subscribe wherever you're listening and what was your first take on what you saw out in the field today with the raiders. You're right. They did everything you can't do and win on the road or anywhere turn the ball over three times. Once rent on. Didn't protect car when they were driving. Me fumbled the Fumble Alina Game Matter Games already overby fumbled the end zone. In the second half, they just wore down defensively I actually done the first thirty minutes be interested at him. I think thought the first thirty minutes they played. As good. A defense as they haven't a while let's be honest. Thirteen points here cam help them a lot. He wasn't any third, but they were down on the second Apple Sikhism Derek. Carr in the offense couldn't stand field. He gave up two hundred and fifty yards total rushing late Sony Michelle when expert in its players per talking, you know these of League so they were down and they just couldn't match. Match up. So a bad game they printed everything you can do and what on the road so Adam how much in fact that these running bags like just through the defense offered their game because I don't think they were looking to contain the likes of three different running backs in this one I think they prepared to contain Cam Newton? What was your thoughts on the running game? I think I was definitely a part of it and I think there was definitely adjustments made. By the Patriots coaching staff because as as ED put out for the first half of the, Patriots were able to run the ball somewhat. But I thought a it wasn't. There wasn't those explosive plays. There wasn't those big plays downfield and it was a kind of picking up some yards here. They're moving the ball effectively but not really gashing the raiders defense and then. They figured out something in the run game after halftime and I'll be interested to find out the later in the week. Interested to get the the all twenty two film comes out like Tuesday. Look a little what happened but I think just at first glance without really looking into what they were doing on the line maybe differently. They definitely started to go to some more cutback plays where they I thought really were able to take advantage of some over pursuit of the writer side in particular from Jonathan Abram, who you know, we know what he can do. In terms just flying around offensively and having people would kind of sending a message for that defense but at the same time. You can use that aggression against him and I think the Patriots kind of figure that out a little bit and it really hit him with a big plays on a place where he got into the gap, he was near the bulk area but just couldn't make up Adams exactly right and and they're going to have to here's the thing about a player John Neighbor might think they love is aggressiveness in his hitting all that he's got a swagger Jim and I. Hate to say this, but sometimes, you just have to you have to balance that it's hard to tell a guy like that. Don't play this way but Adams wait we should for resod against Christian McCaffrey, over pursues too much when you take the battling new pursue Sunny Michelle Christian McCaffrey, they're gonNA come back will go so Yeah. They just didn't play the run wellness second atoms right they adjusted and you have to give Michelle credit like I said when you go For, an average of thirteen yards of Kerry and I don't know if he's ever average per carry more than seven in a games and you also have saved in job I am. But they did they didn't play offensively were out of rhythm Waller. We'll talk about that I know atoms writing thoughts. Darren WELLM was non factor when you get a lot of good at the bill Belgium at he talked about. How good daring waller as well. Guess what he must have died because they ran every defense coverage double team run in stem and stopped him. So atom I know you you wrote about this mean, what did you hear the game to her? How they? You know bottle up there wall I thought it was a group effort I. think that's what of expected to hear from the Patriots Bill. Belichick obviously didn't go into detail about what he did. I think it was just a lot of deception what they were doing offensively disguising it and Bella check pointed out. Hey, it wasn't somebody covering him necessarily a lot of zone. We played a lot of you know bracket coverage a lot of. Men under there was a lot of different things. Defensively. On Waller but I think it was more just about the looks of they're giving up the line and never letting the raiders. No. Before the play what kind of coverage is GonNa be on Waller? Want Credit Anybody I. Think mccourty would be the one that you would like added. Say. Devin mccourty that Dinnie. Tremendous job on him but it was a little bit of everybody kind of in the mixer.

Let's overreact to Week 8: The 49ers are the NFL's best team

"I think that what we want to talk about our vise lows the NFL season so far and highs at this point are the Sansko forty niners it's the New England patriots to undefeated teams and then we want to get into Adam gays who want to get into Freddie Kitchens in WanNa get into the Chicago bears those I probably don't need to say are the lows of the nfl let's start with the great teams the teams that are that are undefeated mic Bosa and San Francisco Forty niners so this was so we talked about this last week where essentially both of the undefeated teams have been dogged by this Weirdo they haven't played anybody and eventually as maze I talked about last week eventually you know this is just the NFL they're beating up on these bad teams because there's just too many bad NFL team that's sort of the way things are going right now there's like five good teams that are quote unquote nice schedule winds and then there's twenty-seven teams who are who everyone considers inferior one AA competition Ravin said that the forty niners host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday they win fifty one to thirteen the panthers where the fifth ranked offense in the NFL all fifteen th ranked defense Nick Bosa three sacks three tackles for loss one pass break up and one interception return for forty six yards the forty niners I I I don't feel the need to say there will jit because we already knew their religion you've written about this this was the type of win that I August isn't very analytical this shuts people up oh yeah I mean this is this is what they call a statement when I think the most points they've scored since ninety three or something like that I saw that today Yup yeah type of win where if there was college they would get like twenty more first place votes this week exactly kind of win they wouldn't jump over the Patriots but it'd be getting close yeah I mean this what stood out to you when you just looked at I mean it was as complete performance you can get it turning that stood out that maybe I mentioned already I mean yeah obviously the defense I think has been the foundation that they've been operating on this year they've -pletely remade that front seven I should say the front the Front Line Nick Bosa you know changes everything default has been good deforest buckner is just playing out in elite level still Eric Armstead has been playing really really well as you know two and then I actually saw Solomon Thomas make a really good play today too I mean they've got guys they've got it reminds me a little bit of the rams of old in one sense that they spent several years of like accumulating talent and it's finding all starting to kind of click together her and their defense is looks like a juggernaut and then on the other side of the ball run game is just so dominant You know we saw we saw what they could do today. Seven Coleman really really good they've got like woman baby yeah they've got like four backs that could that could be their starter yeah they're just really really good so they they control the clock they it's such an old school method in you know it's it's funny because in the in the stage when passing is so much more efficient they're kind of breaking that rule that passing more efficient because when you can run with that level of efficiency in that level of explosiveness I mean it just you don't Oh you don't actually really need to pass that much because they've just been doing it sufficiently my favorite maybe event of twenty nineteen so far is field yates tweeted out most pass attempts prior to first career interception history number one is Dak Prescott number three was Kyle Allen after the game yeah Richard Sherman Seen this yet Richard Sherman quote tweeted that tweet which is I'm so happy to have Richard Sherman back in our lives I talked with a couple of weeks ago but just like the thing where he may be made up that thing with Baker Mayfield I'm fine with it leveraged do whatever he wants he's back in the spotlight he's GonNa Talk unquote tweet field Yates tweets about say element Mayo hundred percent on the rich German experience back to hit a piano yeah I know this is a pro Richard Sherman podcast now I think it's really interesting what happens now in the NFC obviously the Green Bay packers won tonight there are no drew breeze comes back with the saints and they look like they didn't miss a beat obviously you know teddy bridgewater is a very good quarterback while he was aperture breezes he's wearing your mind is the pecking order in the NFC and are the niners significantly above those other two teams man that's such a good question I really like The saints still I think the fact that they were able to do what they did go five zero at bridgewater and just Kinda keep going you know keep them momentum going forward I think they are still one of the favorites I would say you know it San Francisco New Orleans one and the packers just slightly below that but with the way that Aaron Rodgers has been playing last couple of weeks there certainly scary I think their defense has taken a little bit of a step back so there may be not quite as balanced as we thought they were but yeah I mean I think those are clear top three teams there's no question about that and then you could you know make arguments for the vikings or whoever but yeah I think those are like the like the cream of the crop for share in then there's a bunch of other teams speaking of the cream of the Crop New England patriots okay so the stats from the NFL the browns I can barely get throughout the browns had turnovers on three consecutive offensive plays against the Patriots that is the first time any team has done so since week one twenty twelve only the seventh time it's been done since two thousand this is not good if you're the browns we're GonNa get to the browns and are very robust stocks downs section a little bit but this patriots team unfortunately this is not kind of the schedule will win that we thought it was going to be you know the niners get there's the browns are not as good as the panthers the browns have been kind of a disaster but this was just another performance Devin mccourty looks like maybe defensive player of the year candidate the defense he just unbelievable in Baker Mayfield after the game said that the Patriots didn't do anything confuse them they were just playing really well yeah and you you kinda wonder like isn't that the worst case scenario for a team is the they're not doing anything new there just being the crap out of you I mean it was amazing when you think about this patriots defense what comes to mind yeah I think a couple of things going to mind number one discipline that's kind of a hallmark of the belichick teams is just being really disciplined like you know obviously Cliche do your job or whatever that's the first thing versatility you know they're able to play it's
