"Passion and pageantry of college football lives here. This is the Paul fine bomb show our two podcast. Second hour, let's continue with more phone calls and we'd have more guess as well. Mentioned John clay early in the program, he's been covering Kentucky for the better part of a 150 years talking about Mark stoops hitting the portal. We usually talk to John about the vagaries of John calipari. We might save that conversation for later in the summer. John, thank you for being here. It's always, by the way, how is Cal doing? We haven't talked to you since the day after yet another early ending of a college basketball season. This calmed everyone down and have them believing in next year again. The way I don't know, I'm not sure I'd go that far, but he's been he's been busy. He's trying to put together a roster. He's still waiting to see what happens with Oscar she way who's at the NBA combine is actually playing pretty wealthy NBA combat. I think most people thought Oscar would myself included would not get drafted, but he has looked pretty good in the compound. So whether he's come back comes back or not, it's a big question, whether Chris Livingston comes back or not he guesses he's not coming back Antonio Reeves is probably coming back. So Cal's kind of inputs right now as far as Russia goes for next season. Nothing unusual there. John, let's talk about the next season, which is college football and Mark stoops trying to get things back on track. He had the cats ranked in the top ten and then it all came undone, what's the vibe? What's the feeling about the upcoming season with a big quarterback coming over? Yes. Yes, it's a big question. Devin Leary, quarterback from North Carolina state transferred to Kentucky. A lot of people considered him the number one quarterback in the transfer portal. At least at the time that he came out, Liam Cohen is back as offensive coordinator, Liam came to UK from the rams, was up at the corner for a year then went back to the rams and now it's back to Kentucky and Leary basically said he would not have come to Kentucky to win for the fact that Liam Cohen was NFL experience was back. So obviously, will levis is a big data replace that I think they feel like Larry will do a good job. He's really accurate pastors. Not as big as levis, but not many quarterbacks are. And then they got ray Davis from running back from Vanderbilt, who register for over a hundred yards against Kentucky last year when Vanderbilt beat UK and risk for over a thousand yards of Vanderbilt feel like he can replace Chris Rodriguez a running back who was Rodriguez was also drafted. We got two good young wide receivers in barium Brown and Dane key, but those guys, they look good as freshmen, but they need to improve as sophomores. And they've got some questions on defense, lost some players over there linebacker and then there are nose garden Justin Rogers transferred to auburn. They picked up a guy from North Carolina that should help their big question is Paul is the offensive line. It was bad last year. They think it will be better this year. You mentioned the transfer portal stoops went into the transfer portal hard to get on the offensive line. And I think that's going to be the big question mark going into the season. John, I mean, I saw another commitment yesterday. I mean, it does seem like recruiting has taken a notch up. Is that just a long period longevity? Is that cone coming back? What do you think it is? Yeah, yesterday, yeah, they got Carter bullies from right here in Lexington, of course, four star quarterback they got a commitment from him. He's another kid who basically said he not sure he would have committed to Kentucky if it wasn't for Liam Cohen. So that's really helped. And they've made some good moves in the transfer portal and they've shown in the transfer portal obviously getting will let us from Penn State. They got one day, Robinson, a couple of years ago from Nebraska. They got Jack quiz Jones, who was a starter at linebacker from omission Smith of cornerback per moment. They've done a good job in making evaluations and getting guys who fit in the transfer portal. And they've kind of gone all in on the transfer portal this year with 13 guys coming in, including a place kicker from Georgia southern. That might be the outside of Leary. That might be the most important guy that got because they struggled in the kicking game last year. So they're hoping that he'll be a big improvement over Matt ruffalo overall. I had a good career, but he had some spots last year, which when he just couldn't make a kick. So they're hoping this place kicker they brought in will help as well. Let me ask you about Lee and Cohen because he's if I remember he's with the rams, he goes to Kentucky, doesn't he go back to the rams and then he comes back again. I mean, this guy's chalking up some frequent flyer miles between Lexington and LA, isn't he? Yeah, right. He was assistant quarterbacks coach with rams what he came to Kentucky the first time you had a chance to call his own plays as a young coach and they conducted the development of will we ever say here they won ten games and then Sean mcvay called him up and said I've got an offensive coordinator opening on what you to come back to LA and he said he couldn't pass that up. But obviously the season did not go like they hoped it would. In LA last year, things did not go the way they hoped they would at UK with rich kangaroos the offense of court airs just stoops decided to make a change. He was able to get Liam to come back. Liam has said that he's a college guy. He really enjoyed the college experience. He sees his future in college as a college coach. We'll see, but I know people here are thrilled to get him back because he really improved the offense a couple of years ago. They have become so run heavy and they were so predictable on offense. He really balanced out the offense. Of course, having led us in one day, Robinson really helped that. We'll see how Leary in these young receivers do this year, but overall, I think that's had a lot to do with recruiting. It certainly has almost everything to do with getting that four star quarterback commitment yesterday. And having said all that with all those news, I think he's only 37 years old. Right, right. He's a young guy. He's a young guy. He's up and coming guy. And I think what they are not afraid of. I mean, obviously they wanted to succeed, but I think they see him as possible head coach down the road. So he's got a bright future ahead of him and for whatever reason things didn't work out last year with risk kangaroo through their brought in from the forty-niners hoping he would basically be able

"We're talking about Devin Leary who starting the most recent season was considered he was at NC state. He was considered one of the better quarterbacks in the country and then he got hurt and the whole season came undone. So I think with Cohen, he's got a chance to be at that level. I mean, we'll leverage right now he's considered one of the best prospect. The schedule is really complimentary. I don't think you could it's quite frankly when you look at ball state eastern Kentucky in Akron. I mean, that's one of the most inauspicious beginnings I've ever seen at Vanderbilt is your first real test and then Florida, Georgia. I mean, Kentucky's got a chance to get really a really fast start. You know, they do have Alabama. In November, that is a really intriguing game. It comes in a bad time for Alabama. Not a great time for Kentucky either after Tennessee and Mississippi but it's a really, I don't like the beginning of that schedule because it's just hard to maintain a lot of momentum. However, I do think it does set up well for a new quarterback making his first trip around the SEC. Ryan is up next in Illinois. Hey Ryan, hey, Paul, first time caller. I just had a few questions about Alabama basketball. Sure. I just wondering for the semifinals that Alabama's going to probably be up against Tennessee. I was wondering, do you think they have to be Tennessee to get in the tournament? Well, I think what Alabama is facing this week more than anything is the number one seat overall. I don't think they can get that right now. I think that may have slipped away the other day, but you win three games here and somebody else Houston, UCLA, you see, you know, who knows what's going to happen during conference tournaments, but I think Alabama is pretty well guaranteed a number one seed. They'll play next week and Thursday and Saturday in Birmingham, which is a tremendous advantage for them. Darren is up next in Missouri, hello, Darren. My question is, I'm Missouri. Do you think they are going to get hurt from the double by? Or that's going to help them, which is a streaky. You know, you don't know who's going to show up. It's a good question. But I think when you're Missouri, not to extoll any more preys on getting escapes and he's already gotten, but he deserves it all. I mean, that's such an amazing accomplishment when you consider how chaotic this program has been in recent years. Thank you very much for the call. Mark is up next in Tuscaloosa, hey mark. Hey, Paul, how you doing today? We're doing great. Thank you. Hey, you remember, since you're a Nashville, you remember country boy Eddie used to do a little something like this here and call. Oh, sure. Yeah, no, I remember any well. Well, hey, I wonder if you don't mind, I want to do a little trip to the woman that died and took to lose and to, you know, you're right there in Nashville and country music and this won't take just a second and I think it'll mean a lot to the people of your show. That's okay. Give it a shot. Okay, thank you, sir. No, that was memorable. Dan is up next. Hey Dan, go right ahead. Thanks, bob. Don't even know what this possible you can even go there, but I think Brian Kelly has got into Nick Saban's head. I really do. You know, I didn't. I think it started with when he was out. Coach. In the last ball game without you and Alabama. And it goes to the other coaches, you know? They replaced their coaches. That's hard for me to, I mean, I appreciate your sentiments. We've been hit three hours another hour to go. We are live in Nashville. Thank you for listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. The Paul fine bomb show airs weekdays on the SEC network beginning at three eastern.

"I just, as somebody who walked into that room, the very first year of the college football playoff, the very first ranking and saw Tom Osborne, Condoleezza Rice, Barry Alvarez. That first year was a wow factor that set the bar high and just in terms of star power has been hard to match. Yeah, I mean, I don't know. Do you know how they come up with this? The people really want to be on this committee. After they retire or is it just a matter of the luck of the draw? Well, the ten FBS commissioners and athletic director Jack swarbrick are tasked with choosing these committee members. It's an interesting process. I can't tell you how many people have they go through who say I don't want any part of this and how many people are beating down their door. I don't know the dynamic there, but I do know that they do try to diversify it and for a lot of people, it is a bucket list thing, but you do have to be not retired from business, but you can't be an active member of the media in order to do it. No, I guess. That rules me out since I'm barely active. Heather. Let me talk about a couple of other things before you go. I know you've interviewed, this is a good time of the year to grab coaches. You talk to Pittman and Mark Stewart. Let's start with Mark stoops at Kentucky. New quarterback in, not a new quarterback transfer quarterback. What's it look like for UK trying to bounce back this year? Yeah, Mark stoops was very excited about his quarterback room with the addition of Devin Leary and he played phenomenal in 2021 at NC state last year was cut short by a pectoral injury, but stoops told me that Leary is almost full go. They're gonna monitor his throws. This spring, just make sure that he's not obviously overexerting himself and doing too much. But he will be practicing with wildcats and just in general, he's excited about this group, knows that they have some work to do, but definitely had a positive attitude in terms of that quarterback situation. And that should help them. But we also talked about will levis and I know there are so many questions surrounding him and what he's going to be like and stoops was very confident that levis is going to be a franchise NFL quarterback has the capability of doing that. I mean, he was sacked. I want to say 36 times last year and stoop said we didn't put him in a very good position. And he said that he was throwing to young wide receivers and obviously the offensive line had some issues and that was another thing that stooped and I talked about was his offensive line and just this year him being able to move some of those guys back around to their natural positions. He thinks will help tremendously. And finally, Edward, what did you learn from Sam Pittman, who had a very disappointing year with a high expectations. He did, but we had a very candid conversation about that. And he talked about not only the improvement he expects to see from KJ Jefferson. He said he thinks he's going to be throwing more on the run. They can do more with their passing game. He expects growth from his quarterback this year, but also in terms of the chemistry there. He's just talked about sort of rebuilding that team essentially with some players not wanting to be there leaving and bringing players in through the transfer portal and just being very honest about how the secondary wasn't very good and they need to be better and bringing in a new offensive coordinator and how he thinks he's going to be able to work with KJ Jefferson. So he is encouraged and when you look at those games that they lost last year, he said those were some close games that we were able to win earlier and it's just a matter of he thinks that chemistry and getting better on defense, which he thinks they'll be able to do. It may only be the second day of March but it feels like football season is nearer with Heather joining us to start the show. Thank you so much, Heather, great to see you. We will talk soon. I hope. And let's go over who else will be joining us today in addition to Heather Dennis. Dan Murphy, joining us, pat 40 a little bit later on and Ari wasserman. He did something that few would want to do. He sat down with urban Meyer for an interview. And your phone calls right around the corner at 855-242-7285. You

"Was nobody in there. Exactly. You know, you're gonna get the royal treatment. And in this day and age, now you can have your game in your pocket. Just pull out your cell phone and you got the game right there. That is really the greatest situation I can imagine. So I'm actually thinking about going to New Orleans, catch a flight and be back here by the way. You should do that. Yeah, I could go to giacomo's during the sugar bowl. Catch a flight and be back here for kick-off. It's perfect. Southwest? No. Oh, we're in Atlanta. Come on. I know, but I'm flowing a lot of Southwest. A certain airline that pretty much runs this town. I've heard that rumor. And I flew on that airline yesterday. So I'm well aware of it. Talking to Andy Staples, Andy, let me zip around the SEC for a minute because thanks to Sam Pittman, the SEC record is a little better than serve. They tried to give it away. They tried his best they could. I don't know how much that really matters considering that Georgia is the favorite. And you may say, you may have Alabama in the sugar bowl, Georgia right now, South Carolina is holding on. But I'm asking you about Florida. Well, they performed as expected in the Las Vegas fall. You live down there, you see all this, and. Florida fans don't take anything well, no hole. No. Winning included. I actually think they've gotten worse. Over the last few years, and maybe it's because looking at Georgia. And this is probably how auburn fans felt as Alabama was dominating the way they've dominated the last decade. Where the program that you are most closely compared to, you see them as right now, Georgia is probably the top program in college football. And you go, wait, we're supposed to beat them, but if we could beat them, we could beat everybody. And that's where that's where Florida is. And right now, they've got to flip that roster. This is a roster flip that probably should have happened last year. They didn't do that. They gave everybody a shot, but you saw what poured into the portal and that was basically guys who'd been recruited by Dan Mullen, who hadn't played very much. And so they're going to need an almost new team. Out of the transfer portal and they better get working. Yeah. Well, they brought in Billy naper to improve. National signing day was an improvement in terms of evaluation and that sort of thing. But it didn't, it wasn't a top 5 class. It wasn't a big splash in the transfer portal. You know, right now you're looking at a Jaden Rashad a Graham mertz quarterback competition in the spring. I think it's a good name. It's a good name, but it doesn't. We don't know what that means. There are quarterbacks in the portal, Devin Leary went to Kentucky. Is he going there on the JT Daniels scholarship? That's the will levit scholarship, man. That's the one that gets you into the first round. And on the right one. Yeah, the JT dans, that is an amazing thing to me. Like, if you went to someone in September 2018, after JT Daniels has debuted as a freshman at USC and he's looking great. And you say, JT Daniels will be the opening day starter on a national championship team. He will also be the quarterback at rice at some point. I was trying to call him the other day and they kept telling me he doesn't live here anymore. No. And he's thankful, so great to see you. It's a pleasure. Thank you, Paul. Thank you, Andy. We take a break. A Hall of Famer, not that we didn't have one here a minute ago. We'll join us champ Bailey in the college football Hall of Fame, the NFL Hall of Fame, probably everybody else. Every Hall of Fame that exists. The name Hall of Fame.

"Are back and we appreciate you joining us. So let's continue with more phone calls here. And chuck is up next in Ohio. Hello truck. All right, Paul. Thanks for having me. Why don't you show quite a bit like it. I was going to comment on one of your previous Ohio State fans. And I'm from Columbus, so I'm as much a Buckeye as anybody and for any Buckeye fans to be complaining about NIL is kind of silly. We are one of the biggest college markets in college football. I think we're one of the top 15 cities population wise. So there's going to be no lack of NIL money and Ohio State alumni is huge. So there's plenty of money to go around and if we lose to somebody because somebody would pay more. That's just the way it goes. I mean, when you came here for a year and he got a big contract from somebody, I think it was a sports card company. And he left after a year because he was not going to play. He was going to get the starting job over CJ Stroud. The guy that backs up CJ is a 5 star recruit and Kyle mccord and the guy that backs him up is a four star recruit. So to lose the loser guy here and there, you know, we're going to get guys on the back end through the portal and other means. So it's going to balance out. There does need to be probably some oversight on all this because it is a little crazy, but in time it'll work itself out. And other than that, you know, I think one of the other call I mentioned how talented Ohio State was. Well, I tell you watching them all years where I have. I did not see them improve. I saw them regress and I know losing Jackson Smith and Jake Bo their wide receiver was a great NFL prospect, probably a first round pick. Losing him is a big deal, but they didn't go. They didn't go forward. It looks like in defensively. They kind of went backwards. I mean, Maryland's worth 30 on them. A week before they played Michigan. And I mean, Michigan struggle with Marilyn two a little bit. But the bottom line is just Georgia team is far more talented than anybody they played, including Michigan. So I think they're going to struggle defensively more than anything else. So I like the over in that game if I was making a bet. But thanks for having me, Paul. Thank you very much. Bill is up next. Calling from Kentucky. Hey Bill. Thanks for taking my call. And I hope you're doing well. Thank you. Well, I want to talk a little bit about this play out that's coming up. Well, the last three national champions took unlocked bridge and I'll get to it real quick. I think it's been LSU Alabama and Georgia. Correct. Okay. All right. I've got this for you and I have coffee with a bit more. I mean, I actually locked this guy, but it's real heated because he's actually a foreigner. He's from Ohio. He's born and raised in sandusky. But he wants to tell me Big Ten is better in football than the SEC. And I'm like, you know, when I ask you this question, I'm not being I'm not making fun of foreigners because I'm the son. I'm the grandson of immigrants, but does he speak English? If he believes the Big Ten is better than the SEC and football, I mean, he obviously doesn't comprehend well. Well, how simply telling that? And he is, but that's why the compensation and on another note, just curious, do you know what the Kentucky to the transfer portal got out of quarterback? From north Carolina state. Yeah, Devin Leary. Do you talk about that? Yeah. I mean, at times during the year Bill, he was, I think he got hurt, but at times, before he got hurt, he was considered among the premier quarterbacks in the country. And really, his team and his team struggled for a lot of reasons. I think he was part of it. I mean, they were a top ten team when the season began. And much of the reason was him. So I lost track of them as they started to lose games, but I believe that is a big deal for Mark stoops to get him. Paul, this quarterback that leads on will live. Are you are you surprised as I am? That he is listed as possibly being the third player taken in the draft. Yes, I am. I mean, I know he got hurt on this game, I think, and was never really quite the same, and he was hurt. He got ideas. I kept hearing the levitt says, the Todd mcshay of the world who know more than any person on the left I never understood it, and I'm not a quarterback evaluator, but I'm with you on that. Happy holidays. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You'd be well. Give us in Georgia. Hello again. Good afternoon. Good afternoon, so. Long time. First time caller. Thank you. I love your show. Thank you so much. In relation to all the bad mouth in my next serving. I think this loan for a long time. He did not have the team he's had in the past. I think the last year you brought up a thing early on when that 2021 recruiting class was and he didn't have the top one or two, he was chastising his boosters because he needed more money. Right. And you brought out that somebody asked, what was he doing? Hey, he wants more money to get in the ball game. And so I think he's known for a long time, but he did not have the team he normally had. And I was surprised the only last two. Well, yeah. I mean, I think let's just say they win the game Saturday and finish 11 and two. It's going to look a lot better than it could have looked because we all know that there were two games lost on the final play. There were two games one on the final play, and there was another game one in the final possession. So if everything had gone against Alabama this year, they would probably, and this is not a stretch, be sitting here at 7 and 5. And I think you were a lot. I think he knew for a long time. He did not have that challenge. Well, he knew he knew one thing that he was losing players that he normally would have gotten, he was getting Saban is not someone who wants to spend an enormous amount of money on a player because that's not how he coaches. He knows that once you start buying players, you lose your ability to shape them to your system as opposed to shaping your system to

"An hour live. We're always appreciative of Pete Hamill's time as we head toward the playoffs and the ball season. Pete, thank you for joining us. Let's start with Deion Sanders hire and just what you've heard around college football in relation to what it's going to look like and the impact that it will have. Well, I think Paul that it immediately becomes the most fascinating destination in college football, right? And look, the excitement is incredible. That is for certain. And I mean, I have coaches calling me like, what do you think? Do you think it's going to work? Do you think it's not going to work? And I think it's divided. I mean, clearly from the early reaction and recruiting, there's going to be a lot of talent and clearly Deion Sanders showed he could coach going undefeated at Jackson state this year winning the winning the swack and there are drawbacks there. He is inexperienced. He's only been a college coach for three years. Colorado is way behind in NIL. They have significant issues with transfers. Colorado has not been a good football program for 20 years. And there's a reason for that. There are gaps in what the leadership could have done. A majority of their best players left last year, including Christian Gonzalez from Oregon who's going to be a first round pick and a couple of guys starting at USC. So programming, they need to be able to meet Dion's ambitions. So look, there's people think you can win a national championship and there's people who think he's going to completely flame out. And I think that's what makes it pretty interesting. It's been easy for the pundits to say, hey, this girl should have hired him. And that's cool should have hired him. But I've talked to you about this over the last couple of weeks and the specifically about auburn. It didn't look like that was ever going to happen. I don't know if he came into other coaching searches, but what do you know in relation to how close to eon came elsewhere? I think everybody talked about him and they researched him and their captivated by him because it is an undeniable adrenaline jolt to a college football program to have Deion Sanders as your coach. So that part is unquestioned. But look, these decisions are made Paul by risk adverse athletic directors and more risk adverse presidents. And Deion Sanders presents some risk with his inexperience. There's a flamboyance that Deion Sanders brings that may not make university leadership comfort. I can't imagine everyone was thrilled with his first speech to his team where he demanded upgrades, basically. So Dion is the show. That's one thing that's undeniably clear. The show is Deion Sanders and Colorado signed up for the show. They have an athletic director whose toil drew a couple bad coaching hires and they have a president who's been criticized for being disinterested in athletics there. And it's a place that honestly it feels like they needed Deion Sanders. They needed this, they needed this Joel. And they have it. And how it unfolds is going to be fascinating. I'll say this, Paul, The O.C. hire he made in ten states coach Sean Lewis. I thought it was a really inspired hire. He's a veteran coach, he's been at the power 5 level as a coordinator. He has managed the transfer portal. He has managed a roster, he has done things that Deion Sanders hasn't done in terms of managing a program holistically at this at this level. So he also runs a fascinating system. They were the fastest offense per snap in the group of 5 last year. And I just want to tell me that part of the reason that Dion and karo brass were intrigued by Sean Lewis is that they feel like that tempo combined with altitude and the athletes that they are inevitably going to recruit could really be a really potent combination. And so I thought that was a pretty wise thing to basically tailor the offense around your it's like Wisconsin having a bad weather offense in running the ball. So I thought that was that was pretty wise, but Sean Lewis is a north star to me of what Colorado's identity is going to be. On the offensive side of the ball, they are going to be fast fast and faster. They're going to run it, they're going to throw it around a lot. They're going to run a ton of plays and they're basically just going to try to wear you out and leave you on the levy on the campus. Chatty with Pete SAML ESPN Pete, everyone is trying to keep up with the transfer portal. I know it's a big, it's a big sea of players right now. What is your, what are your sources telling you? What are people saying in the game about what is currently going on right now and how much is it likely to get larger in the coming days? I had a recruiting coordinator, tell me the other day watching the portal is like watching the national debt. Just like a slot machine, it's just like rolls and rolls and rolls and rolls. And look, these are a historic unprecedented 72 hours were in college sports right now. I think it's like a thousand players in the portal. You think about filter COVID. Devin Leary drew pine, you can go to Hank bak Meyer who started four years at boys. Keaton slovis has been a multiyear start. These are all like giant names that individually them leaving their schools would be huge stories and they've just kind of completely just thrown in this ball of chaos. Locally, they've been big stories, but it's been hard to it's been hard to cut through DJ Louis jungle LA is another one. I mean, we could keep going. I'm sure I'm missing something. 6 ACC starters. Just to start the season, have left and gone and gone elsewhere. So I really think when you when you look at hit Paul, it's literally like we're walking through the looking graph last right now and Monday was the first toe to go through the looking glass to what the sport's going to look like on the other side. Another question to many are wondering about and we heard from will levitz today, other players are announcing some are waiting for grades to be given thinking that maybe the opt out would influence professors. But what are you hearing across the board on opt outs for the bowl games? Well, I don't think that number is going to drastically change. As we go on, since Christian McCaffrey first did that a few years ago, it's been well established that it got generally guys who are going to be high pitched, don't play. So there will be some interesting decisions at Alabama looming call, obviously. As they get ready for high profile board game. But all around the country, I almost think it's now more of a surprise if you do play. And you're going to be a first two round pick than if you opt out. I just think that's the way of the world that's where we are.

"Of thought about this week from a John finestein book about coach K, where in 2013, coach K said, you know what? This whole thing about a young team, an old team. It doesn't matter. Your team is your team and it's just one and dones now. He understood with new landscape for us. Nick Saban understands that high school recruiting forms for backbone. It forms your culture, but you have to augment through the portal in the same way that John calipari and coach K and Roy Williams shifted to one and done because that's where the talent was. That's what these college football coaches did deans of the sport Kirby, dabo, Nick Saban, they're going to have to augment it with that. I mean, you look at some of these guys. I don't think it's just the Jordan Addison's in Caleb Williams of the world, Paul. I think it's the Jared versus of the world, who was at Florida state now, and it's playing like a top draft pick who was at Albany last year, and he wanted to go from a program where nobody was watching him to a program where he's on Saturday nights at 8 p.m.. And so you think about someone like a Johnny Cornelius, who's at Rhode Island right now. He's a plug and play offensive lineman who's going to end up playing in the NFL next year. You could add him to LSU right now and all of a sudden they've got one of the best lines in football. I mean, there are so many things that go into it. Think about the alternate history here, Paul. If the less miles era LSU, for instance, had a future review just go buy a quarterback. Whenever you wanted to. And he was ready to play a Devin Leary type, a Sam Hartman type. There was an amazing quote from Dave Claus. I don't know if you saw the other day, re saying well, Sam is going to prepare at wake forest for the NFL Draft next year, but we wouldn't begrudge him if he got a life-changing offer from a huge school to go play last year eligibility there. So that's the state of play right now where you can say I have a whole, I'm going to plug it. There are no such things as down gears anymore. I'd say maybe the top ten or 12 programs there shouldn't be after the first year, any diminished expectations because you can just go out and get these guys. Yeah, I was talking to a parent of somebody that's in the portal today, Kevin and it's insane in there because unless you're at the top of the food chain and you mentioned some of those guys, you're just swimming with a thousand other fish, not really sure where it's going to go. I realize this is where we are in college football, but is there any evidence to indicate that one program we know we know it's hurt Alabama, but do we know if it's helped other than that obviously FC last year, they benefited greatly, but some of that was inside inside an inside straight, so to speak, with Caleb Williams following his coach. I think it's going to be year to year, frankly. And I think that there's, you know, I follow the NFL when I do college, it's my job. And I don't think there's such thing as a super scout in the NFL. It doesn't exist. The guys who we think mail on draft picks every year after a while they don't. A lot of it's luck. And so unless you're going to sit there and watch a bunch of Rhode Island tape and understand exactly who you want who could fit who has the speed, all of that stuff. It's going to be really hard. I also don't think anyone's going to dramatically outspend

"State leading 17 to 14 and threatening here once again. I think about MJ Boris the poise he's shown in coming off that win that second half comeback when the second largest in FBS this season where he said, I feel like a kid in the candy store. I never experienced anything like that and he has a chance here to increase the lead against wake forest. It's been so fun to hear him talk and he talks about how important Devin Leary is to his development, said he treats him like it's his big brother and it's really helped him out in the early going. Second down in gold from the one Jordan in the back of the Morris from the gun two wide receiver split either side he takes the snap looking to the end zone intended for Daryl Jones and tucked touchdown wolfpack. There's the poise of the freshman once more. Sloane to even call that play shows the confidence that they have in MJ Morris. Down here on the one yard line, center in offensive line, grant Gibson, all this great stuff. You could just hand it off three times and say it's on you guys. They gave him that RPO option to throw that ball out there if he got one on one coverage because they trust him to stick that in there for the wide receiver. Christopher Dunn coming on for the extra point to try and make this a ten point lead. For number 22, NC state, the kick is down and up. And through. "Trailing 17 three at halftime number 14 NC state scored 16 unanswered points in the second half defeating visiting Florida state 1917 Chris Dunn kicked the game winning field goal from 27 yards out with 6 33 to play while NC state defensive back Devin boykin sealed the win for the wolfpack with an interception with 38 seconds remaining They had scored earlier and that same route So I kind of knew they were going to go back to it And just it just came down to making a play on the ball NC state quarterback Devin Leary left the game with 5 minutes to play in the third quarter but NC states rushing attack gained a 182 yards on the ground on 48 carries I'm Dennis Cox

"1207 on the clock remaining in this game. A couple of ACC heavyweight FSU and NC state, a one point game here early in the fourth and after a 56 yard field goal That kick off will not be taken out of the end zone a touchback and Florida states offense coming out onto the field, but an update on the NC stateside quarterback Devin Leary was spotted on the sideline in street clothes with a sling on his right shoulder he left the game in the third quarter back up Jack chambers taking his place. Absolutely brutal. Devin Leary, authored a record setting season, no ACC quarterback had ever had a 35 touchdown 5 interception season, just one of four quarterbacks in FPS to do that in the last decade and a huge leader in important cog for this team that they're going to be without for the rest of the game. First and ten from their own 25 trade Benson off the right hip. And he will take the handoff going up the middle he is quickly wrapped up near the line of scrimmage Drake Thomas came to make the stock. And if you're Jordan Travis and company, you got to start shooting down the field again because this linebacking core and D line. Teeing off, getting up the field on you. You try to go misdirection on that one, but when you've got an offense that featuring a lot of pullers right now, and you saw two offensive lineman pulling them at play. It creates seams. And when you've got this three three 5 defense, you have guys coming from all different levels. It gets you so off balance as an offense and a backed you up there. Second and ten from the 25. Travis takes the shotgun snap, play action, still on his feet, and he's going to throw it into the ground incomplete. Let's pause ten seconds to station identification. This is called football Saturday night. This is the great voice of the Great Lakes, 7 60 W JR, Detroit, a cumulus media station. Third intent for Florida state's offense still from their own 25 1124 on the clock in this game and empty back you'll 5 wide receivers coming up for Jordan Travis. His team leading by one all their points coming in the second quarter shut out in the first and third. To affiliate is going to motion in after the snap in trouble he's forced from the pocket Travis shouting directions. He throws over the middle of the field incomplete, kentron portier not able to hold on after that hit from Drake Thomas. Who else? But Drake Thomas back there. A great pass

"Devin Leary some information at quarterback. You saw the motion out there. He doesn't see a linebacker or safety go running, so he knows he's got his own coverage. And now he knows the flats are open for business. He gets the ball to see bro, caught his first touchdown pass last week against Clemson. And now you get into a third and still wrong about 36, but a lot more manageable than what you had. 6 foot four twins from Georgia sat in Fred. Third downing three from the 47 dropping back is Larry's going to throw. I get incomplete at the 45 looking for Jordan Houston. He had a real estate in front of him too. Another really open look, they cleared out to the short side of the field and ran that wheel route there. He got a great kick from Devin Carter and that time the throw just a little far outside threw it back shoulder on him and Jordan Houston not able to reel that in. They got exactly the look they wanted on the outside. Jordan Houston had two catches today has been a go to off the handoff or in the backfield as well. It's fourth and 7th from the 47, the punch team. Shane McDonough is ouch. That's plainly away. It is high end over end and fair caught at the 15 for Florida state leading 17 to ten, all those points coming in the second quarter. It was a barrage of big plays. We talked about what Florida state how much you've got to prepare for as a defense. 5 different leading receivers through 5 games means it's been a variety of the spice of life offense. And when you've got so many potent flavors to extend that metaphor further than it needs to go, it makes it really difficult for a defense to key in on just one guy. Johnny Wilson's a good place to start because of the size, but then you start to get to the Micah Pittman of the world that hurt them last week the way they did against law wake forest. First contender from the 15 trips right for Travis in the backfield trade Benson, 7 14 on the clock here in the third quarter as Travis walks up to the line of scrimmage to shout instructions to his teammates. Motion to the other side is Benson and he will get faking the handoff as Travis. He's going to take it himself. He gets to 25 and another solid run. He has one of 71 yards earlier in this game. And you've got that we call it a key motion, right before the snap, you take the running back from one side of the quarterback to the other. And so now all the keys to the defense shift a little bit. You've got different plays that go in the running backs on that side. Great chance for an open run from the quarterback. First and ten from the 29 of FSU 6 45 on the clock Travis 6 rushes already a hundred yards he's got today, obviously aided by that 71 yard burst. This time he hands

"Down on dependable let's hit a couple more of the seniors before we wrap up here. Let's go Devin Leary from NC state. Devin Leary, I thought did some really good things on Saturday night against Clemson. He had, it was like they're opening driver like their second driver. I actually tweeted it. He had like an S tier, one of one throw in that game. I think definitely has got a pretty good arm. I do think Devin Leary and NC state had a lack of run game on Saturday night that really hindered what they could do and really handcuffed them. I think Leary will be an intriguing prospect. When we come around in February and March to this discussion yet again, and I'm interested in how this shakes out. He's started like fucking 40 something games. I mean, he's a veteran guy. So he has certainly been around the block. And like I said, it'll be curious to see how the league evaluates him. Because Leary has how do you evaluate a guy like Leary who's it's kind of a Kenny picket thing, right? Like Kenny Pickett was a guy who had played a million football games. Versus these guys who kind of came out of nowhere and rocketed through the quarterback process, kind of at a more accelerated timeline. Devin Leary is going to be kind of that guy. Like Devin Leary started football games in 2019. You know, and some of these other guys who are going to come out in the draft weren't even college in 2019. So it'll be fun. You know what? I'm staking my claim on what's going to happen. Devin Leary is going to get taken in the third round with a fourth round of the NFL Draft. And some insider for NFL network is going to tweet like strong pick by insert GM name here. Some evaluators had him his first round talent. We'll provide quality backup options slash starter reps down the road. And it's the same thing we said about Ian book. It was the same thing we said about who's like another who's another Kyle Trask. Oh, yes. I guess that is you know what I mean? Now, definitely has way more armed out than gal Trask or Ian book could ever dream of. But yes, I do know what you're saying. He does look cool throwing the ball though. I will say that. The vibes are good. The vibes are good. Good vibes. Hand in hooker, Tennessee. He's a little bit buzzy from what I can pick up from just sort of glancing over the old social media. I think hanan hooker is another guy who plays in an offense that's just like, what are we doing here, bubba? You're never doing anything close. To this on Sundays. It's fine. The object of the exercise for a college football coach was to win games on Saturday. They should never care about how their offense projects or protects a starter for the NFL. It's not their job. But that offense is just so unlike anything that you will ever see on Sundays basically down and down out. And there was a problem with RG three, for instance, guys coming from that system, or something like it, when they get to Sundays, different deal. So I think hen hooker is an interesting player. I think he's a very fun college player. But I'm not going to say I'm selling the stock. Let's see him get drafted and see what happens. But there's going to be a buyer beware on a guy from this kind of offense. Is the head coach at Tennessee the same Josh hype that was like a quarterback at Oklahoma. Yes.

"To your phone calls momentarily. Got the ACC announcing which players will be at ACC media days, 9 quarterbacks in that conference, as I said yesterday on the show, I think it is one of the best collections of quarterbacks I've seen at the ACC in the ACC period full stop. Filled your COVID is going to be there for Boston college. Jordan Travis for Florida state, a good statement on where he's at on that team. Malik Cunningham, Tyler Van Dyke is a very good player for Miami. He's going to be there Devin Leary very underrated for NC state. Brennan Armstrong, of course, like the one man 500 yards of offense show for Virginia Sam Hartman, who's thrown like a bazillion touchdowns and started 4000 football games for wake forest, which is a record. He'll be there. And of course, Garrett Schrader for Syracuse is going to be there as well, a guy that's really athletic and fun to watch. So 9 quarterback's going to be there. The big 12. At their media days, the conference commissioner Brett your book, the brand new conference commissioner basically said, we are open for business. As it pertains to expansion. So taking all phone calls, if you've got a football team and you want to see if the big 12s interested, give the big 12 a call, give old Brett your mark a call and see if they're interested in see if they're interested in your product. Joining here. But 8 5 5 two four two. 7 two 8 5. Again, the playoff is lost in all this expansion conversation. Like we're still trying to compete for a championship here. And Alabama looks like the best football team. Georgia looks like the second best team with the best schedule setting up to be 12 and O in Atlanta. I think Ohio State's clearly the best team in the Big Ten. They get Michigan at home at the end of the year. And I have the best offense in America. I think those three are in. Barring some major upsets, which is obviously why we watch. But I think those three are in. The problem is figuring out the fourth team. It's the most difficult prediction I can remember since the playoff became a thing in 2014. I've only got a handful of teams that I would argue belong in that conversation. But you can make the case for a few different. Somebody made the case for Penn State. I'm not buying that. Somebody made the case for Clemson. I'm on board with that. I think Clemson has a very good chance. To get into the playoff. But they're going to have to be perfect in conference because they have to go to Notre-Dame in non conference. 855-242-7285 convinced me of who belongs in the playoff with the big three, Bama, Georgia, and Ohio State. Is this butler from Atlanta? Butler, welcome to the welcome to the Paul fine bomb show. How are you? Hey, hunter. How you doing? Hunter, sorry, I apologize. Yeah, no problem. Yeah, so I was just listening to the other radio and you were naming the 15 teams. You can consider taking that four spot. And you said, I heard Mississippi stayed. I heard a and M, or Tennessee, maybe Florida. I mean, I think it's hard to mention those teams. If you're not even going to mention old mess, I realize we just lost Matt corral, but lane kiffin's done and amazing job of turning the program over in these past couple of years. We got Jackson diet to replace him. We stole Zach Evans, the PCU, and I don't know if you've seen almost a schedule this year, but it is rather easy, starts out with four free wins that will help Jackson get acquainted. And then from there, it's just what did Wayne Kevin can really finalize the deal. I mean, I don't really see any big competitors, the final stretch, they go, a and M, Bama, Arkansas, and Mississippi. And obviously bam was going to be going to be a major challenge. But if any of Nick Saban's old assistant coaches can do the job, you know, I think lane kiffin be the one to do it. I appreciate the call, hunter. I think it is a major testament to the job lane kiffin has done. To look at last year's team with a historically epic productive quarterback in Matt corral, ten regular season wins, a record for olmes, to lose so much and to say they're going to be as good. And frankly, to be in a quote unquote, reloading, rebuilding year, whatever you want to call it for all this. And if they go 8 and four, I would call that a huge testament to the job that Lincoln has done. But I am not, I have all missed at like 6 place in the west. So I am not picking oldness to challenge for the playoffs. To be honest, I don't Florida is not in that group either. The only reason I said Tennessee or Kentucky is because they could finish second in the east. Again, I'm not picking any of those teams to go. 11 and one, but Kentucky won ten games last year. So let's not go. They haven't lost as much. They still have their quarterback. I think the west schedules are tougher too. So I don't think it's Arkansas Mississippi state LSU or old miss because they the schedules are too hard. A and M would be the pick. If you're trying to make a case for a second place team in the SEC to make the playoff, it would be Texas a and M but then you're asking Texas a and M not to do Texas a and M things. Which is to be perfect. In every other game, not named Alabama. And I don't know if I'll believe it when I see it. With Texas a and M I think they're ten and two. And I don't think that's good enough to get into the playoff. So I really don't think a third SEC team is in this conversation to be fair. I do think oldness is a really good program with lane kiffin and their schedule is real front loaded. They could go 7 and O and then own 5. It's real tough in November. So I still think I like Mississippi a lot. I think that's going to be a real dangerous football team. But their schedule is nasty. Nasty. 855-242-7285 ray from San Antonio ray, welcome to the show. How are you, sir? Hey brother, how you doing today? Doing well, man. Blessings to I am an Aggie class of 1980 and I'm a really try to not include any bias in this, but a and M to get over the top. It has taken step one by beating Alabama here at home, but they're really going to have to beat Alabama in the way big game. I think to really command the respect that Alabama already commands, I think that can happen. And if it does, I think a and M will supplant Alabama. Obviously, and I think that if they go take care of business, you just said it and I totally agree with you when the games that they need to win and win a big game or two, then I think they can be right there.

"This is a team Paul the last three or four months spring practice to even before that, that Lincoln Riley came in there with a plan and that was to completely reverse and flip that roster, which is exactly what he's done. I think USC has I want to say 15 transfers. He salvaged a sim I decent recruiting class for 2022 cycle as well and look, we know Lincoln Riley's offense is going to be able to score a ton of points. Caleb Williams, as I mentioned, Jordan Addison, the top receiving the portal, one of the bullet in the call last year at Pitt. I mean, those are two game breaking players, but it's that other side of the ball, like I said, that is going to determine this team's overall worth. Shane Lee from Alabama linebacker. Edge Russia from Arizona state to former elite guys that Lincoln Riley has signed. Everybody's talking about USC's offense going into fall for the defense should be pretty good too. Let me move out of the national worries for just a second. You follow the college football world very closely. We just got to we came back from Dustin and everybody was speculating on the obvious picks Alabama and Georgia, but who's under the radar? Who are you studying and think could leave us breathless at the end of the season? Yes, if you're asking for an SEC dark horse type pick, I think Tennessee has the dark horse label written all over it. Namely because I think they have a quarterback who's a top ten player in college football. I deposition and hinden hooker and then one team I think Paul outside of the top ten. We had a number 9 in our early probably too high right now, but NC state. It's a team that has a favorable schedule outside of a road game at Clemson. I know the tigers, I think they've won 36 straight at home. That leads college football in terms of home winning street, but Dave Doran's group and Raleigh brings back 17 starters, Devin Leary is a future draft pick at quarterback and despite losing a top ten tackle in an iguana institute is going to be very good. And we know Paul that if you can win 11 games in the ACC and you can take out Clemson, you're going to have a shot to make the playoff. Nobody would better information than Brad Crawford here. Brad, it's great to talk to you again a fascinating list. We appreciate you brightening up our day and we'll catch you up very soon, I hope. "Going to get to the North Carolina game. I'm still in October. Yeah, no. It's an incredible season. An early proud of our guys. And we were able to sustain and get better, even with some injuries, you know, on defense, we finished in the top in the league with 7 starters out, and all those kids are back now, but yeah, it's been a process. You know, when I first got in the league, we couldn't beat anybody. And at that time, Louisville was really good forward to state was at their peak with Jimbo and in dabo did a great job building Clemson up and went on those championships and for us to be able to knock them off in a double overtime win was pretty special. Yeah, and I remember watching it and naturally it was rooting for NC state I have a close friend who's a big fan of yours that I mentioned to you and when you're watching your team and you did it later in the year as well, seemingly have the game one and then the insides of a coach must I would like to see it. I can't read x-rays, but I would have loved to see what was going on. That had to be tough. Yeah, when we missed the field goal, it was, you know? And it couldn't be in a better situation. And I tell you, I put everything in the world on Chris done our kicker. I hope he gets another opportunity like that because I know he'll come through for us, but the insides were not feeling good at that time. But you know, you got to be the pulse of your team. And so I couldn't have that on the outside. You know, I had to turn around. Guys, we're going to win this game. Let's go, get your minds right. Got into double OT and found a way to do it. Devin Leary and Devin Carter on a great throw and catch. Now if I remember correctly, it was the inverse of that against North Carolina. You guys were done. Yeah, I mean, we had a 0.1 chance of winning the game, so we had a chance, you know? But yeah, Devin and emeka is too touchdowns in 28, 26 seconds. Pretty amazing. Chris Dunn with the onside kick recovery, you know, to get us the possession. When something like that happens, I mean, I'm sure you do some soul searching, you're thinking, I must be doing something better than I was doing in the past. Yeah, I told the team, our will to win is so strong and I think the chemistry of your team is built on love and relationships and we had a really close net group. And I think that's why we won those games. These kids have really invested in each other. Coach, I would like to talk about some of the issues that everyone is facing and had a lot of coaches that have been through here in the last two days and they're all in different places when it comes to the portal. NIL. Some embrace it some privately just are spitting bullets, including a man that was in here yesterday from your league. But how are you approaching what is now on the tips of every tongue in college football? Yeah, well, two different topics, but they're tied together, you know? And I think the portal, I think we're just looking for windows of time that make that a little bit better for us. Roster management wise as coaches. I don't think it's a bad thing, you know, for players to be able to leave if they're not happy where they're at. We just, when you have a scholarship cap like we do, I would like to have a couple whatever it is a month at the end of the season a month after spring ball. And outside of that, let us have our roster the way they are, you know? The NIL piece for the players on our campus that are performing well and doing great in the classroom and earning the university money for them to be able to make money off their name image and likeness. I have zero problem with that. I think it's great for them. Professionally. I don't like how it's being used in recruiting. That's where I'm struggling with it. And so we'll just have to see how it goes, you know? It was a university we're putting together a collective right now to be a part of that conversation. It's called the pack of wolves and excited to see how that helps us as a program. But there's a lot of things that need to be done on this to make it have some guardrails, I think, you know. But the part of it, I think that frustrates so many people in the industry is that the organization that is supposed to be guarding it is almost out of business. So how do you put I'm not asking you, but I'm asking you in general, you're a football coach. But how do you put guardrails up when nobody's enforcing the rules as it is? Yeah, it's a great question. You know, I think definitely big things need to happen. Whether that's a commissioner that oversees the power 5, which, to me, makes a lot of sense because we have issues that are different than the non power 5 schools, financially. I think that would be a great change. Whether it's the president or the NCA and then there's a commissioner for power 5, a commissioner for non power 5, a commissioner for division two, FCS, and so on. Where things can get done that fit those places financially. That to me would be a great start. And I know they're already looking at the governance, but we're currently working in a system of rules that don't fit what's happening on the sport and it's very challenging. And I always wonder, I think you're on to something in terms of somebody running the power of 5, but how do you find someone that everyone will agree? Agree on. I think is the issue. And I think it has to happen. Yeah, I think there's people out there though, you know, I think it's more along the lines of who would want the job, you know? I know if you get to ADs together like we do as coaches at times, you can sense their frustration too, because you'll have a 100% ACC coaches, we want this done, give it to our ADs, they back us a 100%, and then it dies on the vine, because somebody at a one double-A school doesn't financially, it doesn't make sense for their university. And so, and that's what they should be saying for their university. But they need to break them apart so that we can all do what's best for our schools at our levels. Before you go, I want to talk about you for a second because you mentioned it was a big tough beginning, the school had perseverance. They stayed with you. And then when things started going well, your name became a hot commodity. We reported on this program, Tennessee was after other schools were, how do you finally decide, okay, the school took a chance on me. We had tough times. Things are going great now. I stay here or do it a lot of coaches and bail. Yeah, you know, I think it's a tough, tough situation. You know, what are you done for me lately in this sport is really a big deal. We love where we're at, first of all. My sons love the schools they're at. Sarah and I really enjoy living in Raleigh. And it's a place we could see ourselves the rest of our lives. So to leave here, it has to be the right fit. And I feel like I have unfinished business here, you know? And I want to finish what I started. That's a big part of who I am. And I like these players that I have, like, the parents in my players, you know? So I'm at home and this is the longest I've ever lived anywhere. So literally I can call this my home now because in these fans of back to me through some tough times, our athletic director has backed me through a tough season. So there's that back and forth loyalty that's built. Coach, thank you for making time for such a pleasure to have you on. Pleasure to be on your show. Thanks so much. You bet. Coach day door in the head coach of the wolfpack and we are done with the first hour we're live in Las Vegas. We're coming back..

"In the limited action that we saw last year when he was in there. Him versus bailey. Hawk and like bailey. Hochman was fine but devin leary was a different a different cat. All that is what they were missing so if you throw him in the mix if you can keep him healthy if you can combine him with the bam nights and ricky persons and a a really experience wide receiving core. I'm really excited about this team. Nc state is a trainee. Pick what you'll find making up down. The atlantic is that there are a lot of trendy picks out there. We can talk about boston. College can talk a little bit about wake like trendy pick for what exactly i think a trendy pick to surprise some teams lose respectively to clemson. Okay or to get to eight or nine wins. Eight or nine wins. And that's and that's where it's at so for nc state. You look at the schedule. It's a tough schedule. It's a tough schedule. They've got a non conference game against mississippi state and week to their home against clemson there at boston. College at miami there at florida state of north carolina on the schedule basically have to play the top three teams in the acc. So it's no picnic to go through the schedule. But if you look up and down the team it's got a lot of talent. It's got veteran. Leadership if devon leary stays healthy and they don't get to nine wins. It's a huge disappointment. Huge disappointment i've seen some power. Nc state as a top ten team. I'm not willing to go that far damp. But that's that's what we're talking about here with the level of talent with level veteran returning production so the three most dangerous teams on their schedule appear to be what north carolina miami clemson north carolina. Miami clemson. yeah okay. They.

"At north carolina umass at clemson. Nc state. miami was college at florida so my only point. The only reason i bring that up is that last year's team would have gone one in six against that sleet assuming they run the table after the notre dame game. If florida wants to get to a bowl they have to win. At least two or three of those seven games that i just listed they have to so who are the wieners in there. Maybe boston college maybe. Nc state maybe miami. I don't know but that's enough spell right in the middle there. They're going to have to contend with those last seven games. Yeah okay so. I would point to wake. So you're three games and now notre dame jacksonville state so you have a good idea of what you are and what you aren't by them. Sure exactly. I would point to to wake on the road. They beat north carolina behind a huge. First half and second second-half last year. So i would say competitive against north carolina. Even though they're going to be on the road and chapel hill and then probably nc state where they are as a program. Because that's what a letdown. Look ahead situation after clemson before miami. So what they look like at home against. Nc state so really. It's the north carolina schools which is very vague. Considering there are many north carolina schools in the acc but nc state and unc. To me are okay. So we're halfway through the season. What do they look like are they. Are they losing thirty. Four to seven or they you know at least giving north carolina's defense which isn't lights out a good amount to handle. Are they losing that game. Thirty five twenty seven you know what. What are we talking about with florida state. By the time they play north carolina. And what do they look like a letdown. Look ahead sandwich situation against the pack that to me. Yeah those those will be like the bookmarks of the twenty twenty one st season vegas for what it's worth has florida state at five and a half and five and a half wins as the over under. Most people were betting the under you get even money odds if you go over which is actually a pretty good number if you take the most possible optimistic view. The florida state. If you assume that mackenzie milton goes out there. And his incredible can find seven. I can find seven or eight. So i would go over that five and a half. I think wins over jacksonville state syracuse umass and then three of wake louisville. Nc state. miami. Maybe even notre dame and week one. I don't know well. We'll talk about her name. But i think there's a path they're for florida state. It's a really tough schedule. Brutal schedule fourteenth most difficult in the country this year. It's because it's book ended by notre dame and florida and then they've got games against clemson and miami some of these other. Acc powers between so. It's it's going to be a bumpy road. Altogether i think florida states in a much better spot. I feel like they finally got this thing turned around and going in good direction but Quarterback will be very instrumental in houthem. Horace goes ahead. What does that room look. Like behind. Mackenzie milton all it takes. Is you know and average hit and he might be a little bit more vulnerable. So yup they. Where are we going next Let's go. I'm going to save notre dame for last okay. Yeah you're only a half. acc team so. I don't know you tell me what what's go to. Nc state nc states really appealing to me remember about your father started going you. You're playing the sounds for everything now. i'm not i'm not. I'm just okay as the spirit moves. Sprinkle didn't for florida state. I wanted to get serious but nc state nc state was eight and four last year. They lost virginia tech north carolina and miami during acc play and they lost close to kentucky in the bowl game the best quarterback on the roster devon leary only three and a half games that was impart due to contact tracing early and breaking his leg late right so is move forward now. The appeal You want me to play. i'll play it. What the hell all sit down diesel tones. I think we're guaranteed to get some improvement in twenty twenty one. Because there's nineteen starters back devon leary is recovered. Bailey hawkins gone. He transferred to middle tennessee. State everybody is back on offense with the exception of their tight end and right guard. We've got bam night. We've got ricky person junior in the backfield for the wolfpack. Really good running back unit We've got every starter back on defense with the exception of lean mcneil who went pro. Probably the second best front seven in the sea. Behind clemson anchored by willis isaiah more at linebacker. Good secondary miami Interfet niba generate more turnovers. But it's a good team. It's a team and one of the recurring themes that kept coming up and going through all the preview content. That's out there is that this is. This is a crazy experience team. And dave doran has done a good job. He's now been extended four times. I believe why his tenure at nc state because they believe in the job he's doing it hasn't always been sexy most of the time it hasn't but this represents a very unique opportunity for nc state a very unique opportunity in that they bring back a lot of their talent pretty much all their talent from a year ago. And if they can get devon lear to be healthy devin leary's of very interesting player. I think it was clear in the limited action that we saw last year when he was in there. Him versus bailey. Hawk and like bailey. Hochman was fine but devin leary was a different a different cat. All that is what they were missing so if you throw him in the mix if you can keep him healthy if you can combine him with the bam nights and ricky persons and a.
