"Obviously, in 80 four. 85. And so 84. Villeneuve said if I beat Georgetown, Georgetown one 84, NC state 80 three, UNC 82. Which I thought was interesting. I wanted to actually, as someone who grew up on the metro, but also has spoken frequently about big John and Georgetown, again, you've got like 13 years on me at this point. So your memories are a little more clear on this. Was Louisville the program of the 80s or do you think it was Georgetown? Because I think they could have a one a one B but if you had to lean one way or the other, which one would you go with? Georgetown just like and I don't have the I don't have the numbers in front of me. So I'm not making a numbers argument. I'm just making my memory of it was like Georgetown was just a monster of a program. And I wonder how much of that was just the physical presence of Patrick Ewing and big John. Like both of these guys are just big guys. And. They were, they seemed physically overwhelming as a basketball program. I was much closer to the Louisville stuff because it was Memphis state and Louisville battling in the metro. It's a joke, but I grew up on Memphis state and Louisville. I didn't grow up on Celtics Lakers. I grew up on Memphis Louisville and Denny crome was obviously a big part of that and Memphis. Memphis has always considered at least always in those years, 80s, 90s. You know, they left conferences and came back together, all that stuff. But Memphis always considered Louisville, it's rival, but I don't know that Louisville ever considered Memphis its peer. Because it wasn't. Louisville was obviously the superior program. And if not the best program of the 80s, certainly certainly one of them. I remember Georgetown being the bigger badder thing, but I remember Louisville breaking my childhood heart an awful lot. Georgetown made the final four in 82, 84, 85 in the 80s. Louisville made it there in 80, 82, 83, 86. So it won more national championships and had more final fours. I don't have the total wind tallies there. It could be one a one B, but I do think that crumbs greatness, his impact, the way that he lifted up Louisville, by the way, the Kentucky Louisville rivalry was resuscitated in the 80s after going, what, like almost 30 years without being played and. Planted the seeds for that to be. Kentucky Louisville fans maintained that's the most fiercest rivalry in the sport. They only play once a year and all this stuff and it's literally stayed a lot that they play and all that. But a lot of this was when it was patino in caliper. I think it was the best, you know, with caliper Kinney pain. It doesn't feel like I know, but just kind of all encompassing. Yeah, I think you're very strange. But the point I'm making here is that Denny crumb, what he did was was incredible. And it did end in a way that wasn't the best, but remembered for being just an absolute gentleman, he went to the tournament in 23 out of 30 years, and a lot of those were before we had 64 teams in the tournament. And Naismith memorial Hall of Famer. So rest in peace, Denny crumb, certainly one of the best coaches of all time. And on the relative short list, I think there's about 12, 13 of them total of people in the men's college basketball arena that has multiple national championships to his name. Shout to Devin Downey. Shouts to Chester South Carolina. Shouts to hulk, shell stellar now. Thank you guys once again. Watching, listening to the I on college basketball podcast, be not subscribed. Met a man last night and my son's baseball game is in town from Houston, visiting some friends. And the friends he was actually family members. And the family members who he was coming to visit, like our Friends of ours, and so I met this man literally first thing he said to me. Even before his name, GP, there's more of us than there are. Wow. Did you know you were meeting this man just you didn't know who this guy was? I did not know him, but I was told, hey, you know, so and so's friend is listens to the podcast, so can I introduce you to him? That type of thing. That's it, of course. Of course. My little guy's already hit a home run. All right, talk to people now. Yeah, there you go. The legit home run all the way to the fence home run. That's playing around anymore.

"Then a different way, but you know, if I'm going to dock oats, I don't know if they wind up really document that much. I don't know if he would have been a B plus if this had never happened. But he was involved in a high profile major embarrassing incident with Wisconsin that became the story of, I don't know if the week, but for a solid 72 hours in the sports cycle, juwan Howard going after Joe crabb and Hoffman, getting into Greg gard's face, was a negative impact on that program. He served a suspension that lasted through the end of the regular season. And so that still has a little bit of staying power with him. So buzz and Howard, I gave both those guys bees. That's fine. I think Joan's largely been good there. I know some folks have soured on him because of the incident in the handshake line with Wisconsin and this past season, obviously disappointing, but I still think generally speaking, he's done a good job at Michigan. Michigan, how about this? Let me phrase it this way. Michigan loses John B line to the calves. Yeah, that was four years ago, people. And we fast forward four years and we say, where's just worst Michigan basketball right now after losing beeline? And I think if you really take everything, put it on the table, you say, you know what? It could be a little bit better. It's certainly could be worse, we take it as we have it right now. And I think they need to be satisfied. I think that I think a B is fair. And that was, I mean, that was a big 2019 was a big year, man. And as we do this, I was kind of spent it forward on you, heading into next season. Oats has job security, mustache job security, Pope has job security even though he's coming off his worst season. We'll see how BYU adapts to the big 12. Cal is Mark Fox has gone at Cal. Bran has gone at Cincinnati. Howard has job security. Koi Berg is entering a hot seat season, Golden Gate Mike, four years in done, obviously, Williams has job security, cronin has job security. Stackhouse does have job security. I gave him a C there's always a little bit of noise around there, but he does have, you know, he signed a new contract a year ago, and his buyout is pretty significant. So I don't even know if he's true. I don't think he's entering a hot seat season. Mike young has a solid amount of job security. I gave him a P minus and Kyle Smith because that job is so difficult, you know, obviously one of these coaches winds up winning 11 games, which I don't think is going to happen. Then the factors can change. But really, hoiberg is the only one in that group that enters next season, I think, in a fair hot seat situation. And then real quick on the mid majors and we can get out of here. We can make this a shorter pod. It was a good year that year on the mid major ranks. Dustin kerns has app state in one of its best four year runs ever. Casey Alexander, even though Belmont has not made and simply tournaments with regularity, you go look at the record. He's continued to win dare I say it at near Rick bird levels and that's no easy feat. Dennis Gates went to Cleveland state that year. He's now at mizzou. Rob Lanier, went to Georgia state. He's now at SMU. Amir abdurrahim was hired at kennesaw state. Bone, who do you? Whoo. Yeah, this stand for. Oh, God. This is your field? Yes. Bill? Organize. Yes. Ends the best one. Nourish. That's right. Caste nourished. An electrify. That's right. Who do you? Who do you? Danny sprinkle went to Montana state. He's now at Utah, state. Darren horn went to northern Kentucky still doing well there, Jeff bulls has done a good job at Ohio taking them to the tournament. Todd golden, which is San Francisco. He's now at Florida. Air Henderson went to South Dakota state and Mark Matson went you don't have valley. He's now at Cal. So a lot of those mid major hires four years ago, those guys have already scooted on up to the power conference ranks. It was a big year and you're right. It's a good way to fill the content void in the off season. I have fun doing this each year looking back and kind of just, you know, maybe pushing back ever so slightly against the hot take culture that's out there a lot. Why not just let things play out naturally and then try and assess grades as fair as possible. And I appreciate you indulging me on that. If you're interested in the piece, we will link it in the pod description. And you can also find it right now at CBS sports dot com. I gotta go ring some basketball teams. Let's get out of here. I was an old by the way. You're going to love this. Yeah. Okay. So I'm reading a story about Jackson mahomes. You know, that fella? I do, but I gotta be honest, I am completely ignorant to anything that he is doing. I know that he is a bit of a sideshow to Patrick, but whatever happened, I don't know what happened. Okay, he got arrested and charged with sexual battery for forcibly kissing a woman in a bar. And there's video of it, and it looks like he is doing exactly what he's accused of doing. So I'm reading about this and I get to a partner since Jackson mahomes attorney released a statement. It read as follows. And then the whole statement, and then it said,

"Okay. So before we get out of here, if say you had the option between who Brandon Miller was for Alabama, off court stuff aside. Two Brandon Miller was for Alabama during the 22, 23 season. You could have that player or you could I think. But that's different. You know, yeah, yeah. Yeah, when I say that about these freshmen, I mean like the ones who are so that are awesome prospects and awesome players immediately. Like I want, then I'll take those guys. Like Brandon Miller is the type of freshman I want. Apollo bank Caro is the type of freshman I want. Like those guys, you take them over the transfers because they are so gifted that they can overwhelm college basketball even as freshmen. But when you take there's only three or four of those guys in most classes that are like they were projected one and done, but when that one year in college they are absolutely balling out. There's a handful of them. There's like 25 5 star prospects and about 5 of them rise to the level of that guy you can win the whole thing with him. Brandon Miller was one of them. I want those guys. I'm talking about the other 20. Like the 5 star guard who's ranked 12th in his class and he's gonna do what a typical guy ranked 12th in his class does as a freshman. Kelvin's point was, I'd rather have a Jamal shed who's been with me for three years in his physically mature. I'd rather have that guy than just an 18 year old who is talented, but not Derrick Rose Eric Gordon talented, just talented enough to be listed as a 5 star prospect in his class. Yeah, and if you're Texas, you'd rather have max a smith than AJ Johnson, who decommitted and is going to play in Australia because Johnson was a 5 star prospect, but he could have turned out like arterio Morris and then your 8th man or whatever and played 9 minutes a game or something. And with AMS, you've got a proven track record of production that suggests he's going to be an incredible player for you in the season ahead. All right. I'm sure you got to update your transfer rankings any moment now. Oh gosh, what happened while we were talking? I don't know. I'm just assuming something else. I'm just assuming something master. So let's get out of here on that. Shout out to Devin Downey. Chelsea chest in South Carolina, Shelton hook. Just to learn now, thank you guys once again for watching. "I saw it out there. Well, you don't have the NBA doesn't have to say if the Lakers beat the grizzlies in overtime and the crypto dot com arena court is stormed, then the Lakers will forfeit a home game against the grizzlies going through it. This isn't a thing anywhere else. 'cause this doesn't have the pageantry and passion of college sports. I know it's part of the, it's part of what goes on. I'm not saying it's right or wrong. It's just being floated out there only by the SEC as a reminder. I don't know if this also I don't think it passes, but the fines are not stopping people. The fines have reached the point where this happens. And then, you know, school athletic directors and presidents proudly put out statements saying, we don't care. We'll pay this thing. It doesn't matter $250,000. And so they are looking into possible changes for it's mostly for football, but it actually would apply to basketball as well, and you would have if it was instituted, you might have the rare situation where a two teams in the SEC would wind up playing. It wouldn't be a home at home. It would just be an away away or a home home because you would lose if you played twice in the same season. You'd have to do that. Yeah, I don't like messing with schedules based off of people doing something you've asked them not to do and they're not supposed to do. I'm in favor of mass arrest. Mass incarceration. For court stormers and field stormers. We should build more prisons and put this story in turn for you on this episode. And I can't say I saw this coming. Yeah. I didn't realize you were such an authoritarian. Let's clean the prisons of people with marijuana charges and swap them. Yes, okay. And replace them with people who storm fields in courts. I should run on that. As an independent. I should run on that as an independent politician. Why did I even bring this up? I don't know. Let's go. Shouts to Devin Downey. Chelsea chest to South Carolina shelter now. Thank you guys once again for listening to on college basketball podcast. You're not subscribed. Please subscribe anyway. You subscribe to podcasts, including apple and Spotify at Apple, 5 stars nice review. There's more of us than there are of them. Oh, I got one thing before we get out of here. Okay. Good, good response to my request for advice on the trips. Because my wife and I, listen, we don't take international trips often. We went to Italy 9 years ago, haven't gone anywhere. And so we're looking forward to spending our ten year anniversary together and taking a trip. We have decided a lot of good stuff on Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Ireland. Very intriguing. Oh, you know what you can do in Amsterdam, don't you? I know, I know. Vape pens everywhere. Yeah, I got it. And hookers. We have decided, I think we're just going to do because we want to see all of Iceland. So a few people said, listen, if you're going to Iceland, you can go for three or four days. That's fine. But if you really want to see Iceland like you really need to dedicate at least a week to it. So we've decided we are going to we are going to do that. So I wanted to appreciate it. I want to send a note of thanks to everyone that sent their kind advice and tips and all that and a lot of that stuff will be safe for the future because ideally we get to go again at some point. So there we go. I've never been to Iceland. I've never been to Iceland. Never even thought about going to Iceland. Looks really intriguing, actually. Yeah. Yeah. That'll be, that'll be sometime in the fall, though. I can't believe it. I can't believe I let you beat me to Iceland. You know what? I should go this summer. I just text my wife. Right now. I left it. We're going to Iceland. We're not going to let that beat us. I think you need to go back to the Amsterdam trip number three for you. I think that's what you need. I enjoy Amsterdam. We've had a good time there. Yeah. So if you are listening and you have been to Iceland, shouts to CBS at Gmail dot com. You can send more because we are in the process of booking what we need to book there. But yeah, there we go. So I'm excited. Are you excited for you? Where are you going? You're going somewhere. We have not we don't have anything planned right now, but we are playing to go see our exchange students. Oh yeah, you told me that. On the flight adventure together, you talk about that. One from Germany, one from Italy, they're both over there, are German, I mean, we don't possess her, but we like our family. Our German just had a baby, so we want to go see the baby. And so we're going to do that at some point. We're going to be doing this podcast so long that you talked about the German exchange student when she was living with you when she was 17 and now she has a baby. Now she has a baby, right? She's doing well. She's doing great. They're about doing great. So we're going to do that. My wife and my body talked us into a weekend trip to Minneapolis for ten years. That'd be fun. We're actually going to have fun. Yeah, you know, two K on Taylor Swift's tickets ain't no thing for GP. So I wish it was only two kids. I'd be thrilled if it was only we can get out of here real quick. You know, it's two episodes. We're out of here way under an hour, so you should be thankful. But I did see appreciative that were brambling and babbling. That's right. I did see one or two of these things shared recently where these people are paying all this money to go see Taylor Swift. They're paying all this money. And they get there, and what do they have when they arrive? Either right next to them behind them in front of them. It's just some 15 year old girls scream crying her heart out for two straight out. Oh wow. That part of the deal. You got to know going in though. You gotta know, you can't. I assume that's part of the deal. So we're doing that. We'll play the TPC course in Minneapolis, so that'll be fun. So, and then we'll do a beach thing at some point. You know, like, you know, 'cause if you're going, listen, if you're going over to Germany, it's

"Everyone <Speech_Male> <Silence> <Advertisement> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Male> on the NBA side likes <Speech_Male> it because it <Speech_Male> allows <Speech_Male> you to level the <Speech_Male> evaluation <Speech_Male> playing the playing field <Speech_Male> doesn't allow agents to <Speech_Male> steer prospects to some <Speech_Male> teams and not to others in <Speech_Male> the high medicals. <Speech_Male> Yada yada, et cetera, <Speech_Male> et cetera. But we're <Speech_Male> talking about some NBA <Speech_Male> decisions. "More of us. The plane. It was a wild scene. The whole thing was a wild scene. But then it turned out we had a nice flight home. You know, we had space. We did, although my guy in front of me was leaning back even more. I had a glass water in front of me. You said something rude. I would never say anything to somebody. So if you lean your chair back on me, I won't say anything to you, but I will privately hate you. I'll quiet. No, I understand. I didn't say anything. The third time he did it, the chair hit my laptop, and I was like, hey, all I said was I was like, hey man, just so you know I got a computer here, just if you can be a little more cautious when you're leaning back. And that's what gets it done. I'm not gonna lean back. Ross is in the chat denying this is how it happens. That is how it happened, my friend. The plane was quiet and you said, more of us, and it was perfect. It was note for no perfect. The flight home was mostly good, although the first like ten 15 minutes it was bumpy, and then I don't think you heard this because then we got off and we got our bags. You thought, I'm not going to quote you because I'm not going to curse on this podcast, but you thought that your bags were going somewhere else because you had other flights. Your bags came through and my bag. Carousel. Right. Because I know what it sounds like to keep saying this over and over again, but we're just telling the story. Because I'm like Skype, my bags usually come out first. That's why I never mind checking them because they're the first ones out. I'm never waiting more than a few minutes. And yours come out first and other people start coming out and mine haven't come out yet and I'm like mother. Because I'm like essence of bees. Set my bags. In that moment, I'm like, they just sent my bags on that other plane. When I rebooked myself on another flight, they put my bags on that flight. And so I went to the delta baggage thing and I talked to the lady and she's like, well, are you sure that your bags didn't come through? And I'm like, no, ma'am, I'm just jumping to conclusions a little bit. She's like, well, honey, why don't you go back outside and wait, like everybody else? And then if you don't see them, then come back. That's a good idea. That's what I'm gonna do. And by the time I get back out there, they were out there. So everything was fine. Then, hey, you ready for this? Another car service. Straight into the city. And everything was good. But boy, you know what, just like most things in life, in time, it felt like it was the worst day of my life looking back on it a week later. It wasn't that bad. It was worth it was worth a podcast segment then went ten minutes too long, but that's how we do it here. And the thing about it was like Paris and I would almost never be on the same flight ever together and the fact that we were the flight got delayed, he didn't have computer battery. The flight was a 105°. We wound up in the same row together going to the same city and made it all very, very much worth it. And she's like, can I get you something to drink? Oh, yeah. I said, I want 9 of those. I said, do you have vodka soda on this cart? She was like, yes, of course. I said, okay, yeah, I'll take how many of those can you give me? And she goes, and she goes, I'm gonna start you off with two? Cool. I'll take two, but come back. All around, what an experience there. Before we get out of here and we do the shouts, here are our top four finishers in our bracket games. We never remembered this night at the television because there's so much going on. All of them obviously had Yukon to win. We had more than 1500 brackets submitted this year. We'll get that number well north of 2000 next year for sure. 50 exactly 50 of you had Yukon winning the whole thing. Top four, Brandon rotary, 121 points. You win the whole man. You've got the top prize. Although I'll see what I can do about the top four here. Michael, second, Brian yarrington third, Jared Crockett fourth. You're a top four finishers, and I'm gonna see if we can make sure that all of you guys get some sort of prize. If you don't get it right now, I'll stay honest. Email us. We need verification of who you are shouts to CBS at Gmail dot com. We'll make sure that you guys get recognized. And I'm going to give a shots right now because Paris is going to be the rest of the show. She doesn't know the who won first. Again, man of the people, trying to look out for the rest of it, like I can't be bothered with this. Who is that? Shout? To Brandon. I hope I'm pronouncing your last name, the correct Brandon router. Shouts to you. You want our bracket games challenge. And congrats on picking Yukon to win it all. We have cruise. This is our first, this is not going to be common. I promise you. We're going 70 minutes in our first. This is stupid. This is a dumb, even for us. Ridiculous. If I'm being honest, this is dumb even for us. I know. I know. There it is. You can see the leaderboard right now on YouTube. That's all I got GP, we can be done. Shouts to Devin Downey's house to Chester South Carolina just to hug us to Laura now. Thank you guys. "And third was Brandon Miller. Brandon Miller was my national freshman of the year. I had Cal Philip haskey second on my ballot. Grady dick at Kansas. For me, I thought he'd know on balance was if you look at the stats narrowly better, but it can. And then you had these fans like, oh, it must kill GP that Brandon Miller is the national freshman of the year. Like, I voted for him. What are we talking about? Like, I'm capable of separating these things. I do not think he should have played uninterrupted. But given that he did, and he did what he did, he's the national freshman of the year and the first team all American. That seems undeniable to me. And then my coach of the year, number one, dusty may. Number two, Jerome Tang. And I still had number three Bill self. I still think it's just wild to lose everything you lost off the last year's team. And have a number one seed in the NCAA tournament. So that's the ballot for better or worse. Those are our awards. Are you by the way, drew Timmy? So Edie was the only unanimous pick. Timmy, three straight years, first team all American and CBS sports. GP has been doing this in so 6, so I can't speak to that. But I feel like this might be a first, maybe hansbrough probably did it three first time team. So if he's not the first, he's number two or three ever at CBS sports to be a three time all American in three consecutive seasons. Which marks and I wish marquise Noelle had some more eligibility. He could maybe get there, you know? Yeah, no, I hear you. This is our last podcast before we play the final four as a reminder, GP is going to be on CBS Sports Network all afternoon and evening on Friday. He will be doing studio stuff from just outside. Andre Johnson stadium on Saturday, I will be in on set for CBS sports headquarters. I was today. I'll be overnight. I'll be there Friday. I will be doing interviews and everything for CBS sports headquarters throughout it. We will have a reaction podcast Saturday night after the games are done. Yes, it will be late. Logistics on that still need to be figured out. But I think that's it for programming, I guess. No, it's not. What's happening? Sunday. Because remember, we got to, yeah, we actually had this has been decided. Oh, yeah. It's happening. Detriment of to the detriment of me, it's been decided. No, because I got to come to you. You're not having to come to me. Well, you know, I don't know. It's fine. It's fine. I'm looking forward to it. How about this? You'll be you'll be indoors, climate control. It's about to get hot down here. If you look at the world or two, I was Sean Miller through my shirt when I was done today. Not good. Yeah, it's not great. It's not great. It's not great. So on Friday at noon eastern, 11th central, we have the four hour practice show live from Megan thee stallion stadium. So we'll have a set inside a set outside, all four teams will be there, practicing for an hour, Jim nantz will be there. It'll be fabulous. So make sure to turn that on if you sit around on Friday. 11 central noon eastern CBS Sports Network, then we have another show from 5 30 central to 6 30 central live from just outside the stadium. And that'll be that for Friday. On Saturday, we got pre game stuff on Saturday night, the games, and then we'll be podcasting Saturday night after the double header. Once the national semifinals have been decided and then on Sunday, I want to say it's noon central, one eastern. It is correct. At the CBS sports headquarters set, which is invention center. So this is the place where everyone is going. We are next to the big basketball court. Now, we will be elevated off the ground. So you won't be at eye level with us, but if you want to enjoy, I don't know if they're going to set up speaker so you can hear us or not. But we are doing it live podcast Sunday from the convention center to preview the title game. Oh, I can't wait. You sound you sound sight. Let's go. No, I am psyched. I'm glad I'll be honest. Earlier in the week, I sort of hit man, I'm just exhausted. I'm just beat down. Now I feel good again. I'm ready to go. That's right, baby. Let's get out of here. Surely we got something to do. Are you staying in? Are we doing dinner? Are we doing dinner tonight? I've got dinner plans already. I hate them for me. Sorry. I'll tell you about it when we turn the mics off. All right. It's me and marquise Noel. We're going to The Cheesecake Factory. So Cheesecake Factory or below me or something. That's correct. So that's why I'm taking marquise Noelle to celebrate. His edition is on my ballot as a first team all American. Shouts to Devin Downey, she also suggests to South Carolina's just a heart. She has to Lauren out. "As we were recording this podcast, Zach Edie was named NABC national player of the year. We will have our player of the year in all American teams come out on Thursday. So we'll touch on those on our next podcast, our ballots have been submitted. We'll have to wait and see who winds up winning. The results of the tournament obviously are quite intriguing and I think they might have impacted some ballots in some ways in ballots. Maybe not in others, but we will have our awards as we always do on Thursday. And also, we don't have details yet, and we can't even confirm this is happening, but I want to give a heads up if anyone is listening to the pod, but you're getting it to it two, three days later than on Tuesday. I think Paris and I are going to try and podcast in person together in Houston at a site to be determined. It could be on the headquarters set. We tried this last year, the schedule's didn't line up. We don't know if we can do this. But if the potential is there, the headquarters set is somewhere near the fanfest stuff down in Houston and if you would like to come and watch the pod, that might be out there, but I want to repeat. We are not guaranteed to be doing this yet. But there is a loose plan. At least want to give folks a heads up if they listen to this one, but they miss the Thursday, Friday, one, whatever we do, we will see. But keep an eye out. There are plans in place and basically it's all on Gary Paris to make it happen. How am I supposed to keep an eye out when I can't even see my eyes on it? You literally hate to see it. Standing in the shower and I had this moment of realization. This is actually what went through my head. And your eyes. I said, dude, I can not even open my eyes. They were burning so bad. I could not open my eyes. Life is full of challenges, you know? Every day is something new. Every day, you know? Just you just got to come overcome adversity whenever it's placed in front of you. It's true. I've been there. I've been overcoming adversity since the moment I woke up today. Yeah, you got through. It's great to be back. Listen, we love our rotating cast of characters. Thank you to the listeners for, you know, riding through this as it's been just different folks, the schedules are just outrageous in March, but we know you most prefer when it's me and GP and so here we are again and so not everybody. Not everybody feels that way. There are people out there who hate my guts. Okay. I guess I'm not the utmost fan favorite either. No, I think people with you are either they either like you or they're neutral on you. I don't know why anybody would hate you. There are people out there who hate my gun. But people out there who think my guts and they don't even live with me. Yeah, imagine that. Imagine if you lived with me, how much you would hate my guts. You're like, no, but you're like, you're like that. You're like that commercial, you know? At first, maybe it's a little annoying, but by the end of the night, you're just singing it. I meant it. I don't know. I don't know if it's very perish. Guys, we'll see you again soon. What's up? We'll see you in Houston. I think it's time for us to go. Oh yeah, okay. There are people out there who hate my guts, you know? That's fine, you know what? I hate them back. Oh, come on now. You're going so so well here till the end. My eyes are still burning. "Today? I have to die. I'm not sure, actually. I'm not sure. I guess I might be interviewing drew Timmy on headquarters though for tomorrow. So keep an eye out for that. Get him to cuss at you. Should I try it? I will have to run that by the bosses. If they are clear, if they are clear with Timmy cussing on headquarters, then maybe. That's become a thing, by the way. Everybody's constant. Everybody's cussing. Everyone's just like F it. Jamie Erdoğan handled it the best. Did you see Jamie's? I did, yeah. I mean, Jamie didn't cost. Who cussed with Jamie? Was the FAU player. By the way, nada, we're doing this live in real time on YouTube. Is that going to be is that going to be on the audio version that Montage I sent you? So people will have actually heard that? Yeah. That Montage that I completely spaced on doing at the beginning of the show. Yeah, that will be on the audio version. It will not be real. I apologize for that. If you've got to the end of this podcast, you heard our headquarters producers had this awesome Montage of first weekend stuff. And in that is the erdal is the ear at all clip with. Yeah, he cusses, and then he goes, oh, I'm sorry and Jamie's like, it's fine. It happens to all of us. We're on truTV. We're on truTV was the funniest part. I think it was Janelle Davis. That did that. But no, it was, it was awesome, and you had. Jamie, Jamie had an awesome weekend on the sideline. She had the moment with Tobin Anderson where she put her arm around them. It was a nice visual. I think having, you know, having done some sideline reporting myself. I felt like she was just trying to make sure you're not leaving me. I got my camera, we're right here because there's a hectic scene, but also it just made for a nice visual. I thought she had to agree. I thought she handled that great and then it's okay. It's okay to cuss, we're on truTV also excellent. And Shaka gave her the milkshake. And Shaka gave her a milkshake. It's a big weekend for Jamie. Big. Big boo week on yeah. It's been awesome. It's been an awesome tournament so far. Two days away, sweet 16. Coming right around the corner. I might see you in New York again. You might. You very well mind. I'll be there Thursday night for the garden party. And that'll start with MS UK state and then FAU Tennessee is after that. And the other two are Vegas and Yukon Arkansas the first tip and then Gonzaga UCLA is the second tip. Those games are on CBS, the garden games are on TBS. I think that's a podcast. It's a podcast. We're good to go. Shouts to Devin Downey shells to Chester South Carolina shelter honk shelves to larnell. Thank you guys once again for listening, watching the on college basketball podcast. "Going to the final four and I had Kansas going to the final four. I would replace duke, probably with Tennessee. I think Tennessee is probably the favorite to come out of the east region. And then in the west region, I think I would pick UConn. To make it out. I know UCLA is there. Gonzaga is still alive, but one of those teams is going to obviously cannibalize itself. Yukon to me looks like it has kind of channeled the mid season success that it found where there was a stretch if people remember where Yukon legitimately looked like the best team in college basketball for like three weeks straight, the polls did not reflect that, but a lot of the metrics backed that up. I think as high as number two in the AP poll, they're starting to hit their groove in a way that I think we saw during the season. So yeah, my new final four picks, I think I would go Alabama Houston, Tennessee and Yukon. Would you change it in your picks? Well, I have to change one because I lost perdue. I had Purdue in the final four. But my other three are still alive. So I told you in the east, I lost Purdue, but I would replace Purdue with Kansas state. And then I would just stick with my originals, which are Houston, Alabama, and Yukon. I had Yukon. In the final four from the jump. So, you know, as always, we'll see. But it really should be a fun sweet 16. 11 different conferences. Have teams. In the sweet 16. The breakdown real quick. The SEC's got three. Alabama Tennessee Arkansas. Big east has three. Yukon creighton Xavier. Those are the leagues with the most. Three and three. The big 12, best league in the country, only has two, Kansas state and Texas. And then you get one from the mountain west, San Diego state, one from the ivy, Princeton, one from CSA, Florida Atlantic, one from the Big Ten, Michigan state, one from the PAC 12, UCLA, one from the West Coast conference, Gonzaga, one from the American Houston, and one from the ACC Miami. I kind of like that. You just got like a whole bunch of leagues represented and now let's, you know, you're not going to get a whole lot of repeat matchups and it's just, I don't know. I actually asked you before we started this because I've been on TV for three straight hours. If there's stuff, there might have been stuff out there that I've missed. So I knew there were 11 different leagues represented in the sweet 16. What I'm unsure of is whether that's a record. But it feels like it could be. And if it's not, it's got to be close. Yeah, it's definitely seems like it. It's great. I think it kind of speaks to the parody of the sport. I mean, you've got the Ivy League representative. You've got conference USA represented. This is the first time Ivy League has been represented since Cornell believed in 2010. Conference USA has been a long time. I think it was Memphis the last time conference USA was represented. So obviously Memphis is not in conference USA anymore. So it's fantastic. I think the parity gets increasingly more as the years go by in the answer boy tournament. I mean, we've had two number one number one seeds lose in the first round to a 16 seed here in the last few years and that seems like it's not going to be a trend, but it seems more likely to happen than ever before and so it's great. This is what makes college basketball so awesome. There's so many different teams represented, so many different conferences, represented a lot of parody. This is why March Madness is truly amazing. It's now two 21 a.m. on the east coast, which seems to, it seems like a reasonable place to stop for now. So shouts to Devin Downey. She also Chester South Carolina. She asked the hawk shouts to Laura now and think you guys. "You're worried about the bears? A little bit. You see Santa Barbara almost beat creighton in a first round game a couple of years back. A team that won't be intimidated by this and Baylor is two and four over its last 6. So in terms of the Alabama's path through this region, I actually think that the two and the three and the four in this region are not all that intimidating and Baylor falls into that category for me. I mean, I know they've dealt with injuries, but man. They are not the same defensive team they were two years ago when they had Mark vital and davion Mitchell playing defense. I mean, from a defensive standpoint. Golly, they missed those guys. The offense is great. The backcourt is awesome. But the defense is wolf. So what is your sweet 16 elite 8 and the winner of the south regional? How's your bracket unfold? Yeah, so I've actually got Alabama, Charleston, NC state, Arizona, getting to Louisville. And then from there, it's an Alabama over Arizona. So a little chalky on my end, but if you're seeing this Alabama team in person at the SEC tournament in Nashville, my question going into that week was, is this a team that you need to over time to beat South Carolina and then lost to Texas a and M in the regular season finale or is this the team that rose to number one in the a people for the first time in 20 years this season? And to me, they answered that question pretty resoundingly, even amid all the off court hoopla surrounding them. So Alabama's supremely talented, incredibly long. And I do to a certain extent by the narrative they want you to hear about their team, which is that on the court, they are an unselfish and type of team that likes each other. And I don't doubt that they've bonded in some ways through all this stuff. And I think there is a camaraderie there, and I do think they have the intangibles, obviously, to go with the talent to make it out of this region. So Alabama, you know, you kind of got to hold your nose to do it, right? But I think they, I think they are the team in this region. Yeah, this is where, you know, you just have to separate the basketball stuff from the other stuff. I think it's shameful, frankly, the way Alabama has handled this entire situation. I still think Alabama's an awesome basketball team. And I like you have them coming out of this region. I got Alabama San Diego state in the sweet 16. I've got crate and Arizona in the sweet 16 Alabama against creighton in the elite 8 in Alabama advancing out of the south to take a very complicated and uncomfortable awkward story to the final four in Houston. And yes, I have Alabama playing in the national championship game. Against Houston, if you've seen my bracket, I've got Houston winning at all, but obviously there's nothing far fetched about Alabama winning this. They have proven over and over again as the outright SEC champs and NCC tournament champs that they are legitimate national championship contenders. I agreed with the selection committee, Alabama should have been the number one overall seed in the NCAA tournament and now we'll get to see if they can make it out of the south regional. I do think they're apparent path to getting there is simpler, not simple, but simpler than any other number one seeds. Like I feel safer about Alabama getting to the final four than I do any of the other number one seeds, which is perhaps sensible and appropriate given that the crimson tide are the number one overall seed in the 2023 NCAA. Tournament. Shouts to Devin Downey shouts to Chester South Carolina. She also learned now, thank you guys once again for listening to the on college basketball podcast.
