Kenya in close presidential election amid prayers for peace
"Kenyans are voting in a rather unusual presidential election A long time opposition leader backed by the outgoing president faces the deputy president who styled himself as the outsider East Africa's main economic hub could see a presidential runoff for the first time economic issues could be more important than the ethnic tensions that have marked pass votes with some time deadly results The top candidates are regular Odinga whose vibe for the presidency for a quarter century and deputy president William Ruto who stresses his journey from a humble childhood to appeal to millions of struggling Kenyans long accustomed to political dynasties I'm Charles De Ledesma

JFK's Moonshot Speech Inspired a Nation to Greatness
"Into space, this was something that was not looked at as easy. There was not a genuine consensus by the time of this speech that this was where we know to be spending money, that there was a real fascination with what can we do and what can we become if we choose this path towards space exploration. It was interesting that he also then quotes William Bradford and the founding of Plymouth bay colony. Who said that all great and honorable actions are accompanied with great difficulties in both must be enterprise and overcome with answerable courage. In other words, this angle means he's laying it out. He doesn't want anybody to come to think, okay, this can be just easily conquered. This idea that we could go to the moon or space exploration is going to be something that is going to be fraught with without danger that everybody can do it. He's laying no, this is not what is happening. But what he also then continues on. He says that man in his quest for knowledge and progress is determined and can not be deterred. The x-rays of space will go ahead, whether we join in it or not, and it is one of the greatest adventures of all time and no nation which expects to be the leader of other nations can expect to stay behind in the race for space. He also then as an interesting paragraph, the next paragraph basically is a real direct threat, direct shot across the ballot, Russia, when he says, look, we're going to go there for freedom and we're going to continue invention and we're going to go to space with a manner of freedom and peace, unlike the conquest that many would fear Russia or others would have. Again, setting it up in being very contrast terms that the people would understand and what they're looking at. This gives a speech that is looking forward, examines the reality of the world, and then looks forward as we go. Then
Was Paul Newman Bi-Sexual?
"That led into my fascination with Paul Newman. I've always had a theory. The guy married Joanne Woodward who I think is plain Jane. This guy was the most beautiful man in Hollywood history, perhaps. He married plain Jane, and he was with us since they were studying acting in the city, like very young. Doesn't make any sense to me. And then the guy goes on to teach Tom Cruise how to drive race cars and I'm like, oh, this seems like a little bit of a may December romance to me. Then he makes salad dressing in popcorn. Come on. Macho men don't think of salad dressing recipes and the wrong with salad and popcorn. I just don't think most men think about their face on those products, but God bless you made millions and he gave it away. Good, good, good man. So I started looking into Paul Newman, and I always go to these gay sites because the gays know the gays know. And there's a bunch of stuff on this site. I gave to the patrons, and I'm going to talk about Paul Newman possibly being gay next week. I think it's a crazy story. I think people will be interested. But this is what I read on this gay site. During the making of cat on a hot tin roof, whole Newman, if you've seen the movie plays a repressed homosexual by the name of brick. James Dean was supposed to be lined up for that role, but he died in a car crash before production began, so it went to Newman. Now, in the film version, the direct homosexual references were taken out from the Tennessee Williams script in order to satisfy the current production codes, if you will. So the film script kind of dances around the reasons why brick and cat played by the gorgeous Elizabeth Taylor hadn't slept together in years. But the mention of the suicide of bricks close football chum skipper was kept in. Close football chump. That's the way things were mentioned back in the day if you want to talk about gay. He's my football chum. You know, oh, really? At one point, Paul Newman told Tennessee Williams. The role of brick is perfect for me. All my life I've been split into two different directions. One side of me wants to live life with my gay football buddy skipper. The other side is tempted to fuck the living shit at a Maggie the cat and be their heterosexual stud most of my fans want me to be. Um.
Beyonce's New Album Is Causing Controversy
"Her latest album is called renaissance. It's the first one she's released since lemonade. Remember that hoopla 6 years ago? It's causing quite a stir in the business. Remember she's saying in the Super Bowl? Oh my God. A lot of shit in the business now because of this album. A couple of singles were secretly released. I don't believe that for a second. I'm sure it was coordinated without her consent. Yeah, sure. She knew what was going on. Another pop star, kelis, and the police, my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard and they're like, it's better than yours, right? That's kelis. Kelis went on Instagram to give Beyoncé some shit. 'cause her album has 16 tracks and it pays homage to dance music and she samples some iconic hits from Donna Summer and Robin S, Robin S recently said she was thrilled to have a work included. But now everybody's thrilled. Apparently, kelis is not thrilled because milkshake was incorporated to Beyoncé's album on the 5th track called energy. So now she's speaking out to claim that the song was used without her permission. And without getting too in the weeds, let me just say the production duo of Pharrell Williams because I'm happy and if you feel all right, Pharrell Williams and his partner Chad Hugo, they're known as the neptunes. They're listed as two riders of milkshake, which was released back in 2003, and kelis is credited as a sole performer. So she and the neptunes have a long and complicated history. We don't need to know that. They worked on a first three albums in 99, 2001, 2003. Who even knew, kelis has three albums. I didn't know. But either way, it's not my world. But according to new track credits for energy that you see on Spotify and Apple music, both Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo are listed among the numerous co writers on the song while kelis goes on mentioned. And despite not being listed in the song's credits, her involvement in renaissance was teased earlier last week after Beyoncé released an official track list naming the artists set to be sampled in each song and as a fan account on Instagram that put up the list, she repulsed the list of Beyoncé put out. And that got a response from kelis, who said that this was the first time she'd heard that her work was being used on Beyoncé's album. And she wrote in response to this fan, it's not a collaboration. It's theft. So right away, shots fired. And kelis went on to say, my mind is blown because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance of all three parties involved is astounding.
Nancy Pelosi's Delegation Departs D.C. With Fighter Jet Support
"You care? If Nancy Pelosi goes to Taiwan. You know, the Chinese government has made it pretty clear. That if Nancy Pelosi goes to Taiwan, there's going to be some consequences. Now, a buddy of mine in the Washington D.C. area does a local TV show there. My friend's Armstrong Williams, for those of you in the D.C. area who might know of Armstrong. Armstrong since he and I, in turn, in senator Strom Thurmond's office, many, many years ago, Armstrong posted some video on Instagram, showing what was supposedly Nancy Pelosi's delegation leaving the D.C. area. And it was quite the showing. There was this huge, some type of U.S. Army airplane, it was a monstrous airplane, had several fighter jets, next to it, and then the next plane behind it was supposedly the one that Nancy Pelosi was in, again, accompanied by, I don't know, 6 8 other fighter jets. And obviously that is needed, I guess, I suppose, because of this threat, from China.

Eric's Latest Book Recommendations
"Okay, number one, book recommendations. What are you reading? Now you notice how clever that is. Book recommendations. That's one question. And then what am I reading? That's another question, right? So book recommendations, I always recommend the same books. If you haven't read them yet, what are you waiting for? Chance or the dance by Thomas Howard, with a forward by Eric metaxas, chance of the dance orthodoxy by G.K. Chesterton. How about that? Have you read that? No, I would jump on it. What about death of a guru? Now that moves over to the second question, whatever I've been reading recently, there's a guy that I have had the privilege to know Robbie maharaj, who wrote a book in 1977 called death of a guru. And it really is from the inside view of somebody deep into Hinduism, which is a cultic and horrific making his way through that culture and then eventually finding the God of the Bible. It's called death of a guru. So those are my recommendations. I'm also reading Nancy pearcy and old friend has a new book out and she sent it to me for possible endorsement. I am just beginning to read that and enjoying it very much. Anything by Nancy pearcy, my goodness, that's another recommendation. So a lot of stuff. I just read John's mirac book on William rupp, a biography, just read the book tell us by Jacob Boney as the last name. We're going to have him on the show very soon. But amazing stuff.

Barb McQuade on the Secret Merrick Garland Memo
"Everybody's freaking out over the, you know, I guess secret Garland Merrick Garland memo, right? That is sites bars demand to flag the AG at the agency's investigating a presidential candidate. Am I wrong not to freak out? Because you know me, I'm prone to freak out. But yeah, no one will ever accuse you of not freaking out enough. But thank you. I think this is not a freak out moment. This is really, you know, I object to a lot of what William Barr did as attorney general. He did a lot of bad things in wrong things. I don't think it's wrong to say the boss should know if you're going to open an investigation on a political candidate for president. You should know. If you could have a prosecutor go off, either because they're rogue, but more likely just because, you know, they got excited about something that they see. And the attorney general should know about that. That's all. That's all it says. So I don't think this is something to freak out about. In fact, I think it's just good management.
Trans Wokeness Has Created a Hostile Environment for Women
"Girls rise up, don't tolerate this woke mind virus bullshit. Leave a comment as William Thomas. He's a man, he's not a woman, never will be, never had a period, they're at a baby. They had menopause. He's not a woman. Unfortunately, the walk universities out there, and the government have created a hostile environment for women to object, you can't object to these abusive demeaning condescending undermining and just flat out disrespectful behaviors. And because of that, you're now being threatened by loss of opportunity, loss of scholarships, loss of status, loss of advancement is a big civil rights issue, man. William Thomas is a dangerous sociopath, we got to start making it clear since all the nut job lefties is so confused biological male is not equal women, period, end of discussion. If they feel like playing dress up, I ain't go ahead. I don't care. You want people to call and she and her, they, whatever the hell, go ahead, do what you like. I'm not going to follow that lead. But biological man wants to compete in a woman's sport. No. We got to draw the line somewhere. Not going to happen.
Lia Thomas's Nomination Proves Women Are Erasing Themselves
"The other idiot I wanted to bring up today is William Thomas. The transgender swimmer. Because now she's been nominated for woman of the year. Woman of the year guys, what the hell is wrong with the NCAA? This guy ranked nearly dead last when he swam against young men, pops a few hormone pills and presto change O maybe tucks his print to the right tapes it down. Now he's a woman. And then he jumps like 465 places to become the number one female swimmer, how can anybody accept this insanity? You know, girls in the quest to be seen as equals. Women seem to believe that in order to be seen as such, they must also surrender their femininity. But in doing so, they not only achieve that, but they've helped all but erase themselves. It's meaningless. They've turned everything into nothing. But this is Biden and the Democrats world,

I guess my question is how back in the order appraise business. Do you go with the vehicles. We all regular basis. I appraised brass. Eric cars to eighteen ninety. So they're all you know some of their original vehicles that you know from the from the day i remember that stands out the most one of the original portions a big wagon wheel type of vehicle but it was electric back in the day. I hope myself accountable and the things that bring me. Joy love chien-yuan people food laughter. That's really what brings me joy in. It's the same thing that i do deliver myself up. If i'm feeling down or feeling overwhelmed. I've learned how to self regulate. I even know how to dismiss myself from an area or even this weekend at the believe nation experience you know it can be overwhelming at view of the parties that took place for the platinum ticket holders. I knew how to. So if i ever see somewhere in you see me. Leave the room for a few moments at think. I'm an introvert more than what led on. But it's literally. I had to step out of a room and get air to breathe and just recharge to myself and i think it's because me being with myself this long. I found so much peace in that. It's so it's peaceful and quiet. So when i get around a allowed air you're out party party it's like sensory overload for me in a second. Whoa whoa whoa. I need a break and music really helps soothing music on that i listened to when i'm feeling down just taking baths poured all that epsom salt with the lavender and eucalyptus and what it does to the body what it does to your senses. I thought that cramps were just supposed to be painful. And they're not so listen to your body. If you're cycles are are getting too heavy. You're not supposed to have like heavy heavy side. Goals men guichard checkups to istra checkups. If prostate cancer runs in your family you know you got to get your checkup. And they've lowered the screaming age for colon cancer because younger people are starting to get colon cancer. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. So guess what. I wrote this book checking in to those willing to go through. The journey of transformation even pie has is to continue pushing you for your own journey on of for your transformation in it takes work you know and i think the phase of the journey that i mean of my transformation journey is just staying the course you know. I've done tons of therapy. I still do therapy. Weekly sometimes bi weekly. It just kinda depends on what's going on. I know when i released the book. I was in therapy every week. Because i just wanted to make sure that was staying peaceful and i had. I had an outlet. I had my therapist to talk to. If i had any concerns about what was going on she is the bomb. So what phase of my on this journey astill process with my therapist and that doesn't mean something is wrong. That doesn't mean i i'm still. I'm ben i'm finding depression. You can talk to a therapist to not only process pain but the process transition to process your fears or anxiety about a decision that you have to make. Yes it really is okay to process that with someone because sometimes when you processing transition or something with the loved with sometimes they can project their own fears onto you. Or they can project the fact that they didn't go out and pursue their dreams so they might dissuade you from doing your art and some even might mean will on some of the things they say. But i love when our process mind with my therapist. I just love how. She's not biased and she helps me to see all areas that i need to see in. I just want to encourage you to be bold enough to stick with this journey as well. What do you mean bold. No shane walk with your head held high. I don't look back at my past anymore with any guilt or shame. I look back at my pass. And say wow i really display some emotional strength there to admit that i needed to help to admit that i was in a dark place into admit i was not safe by myself. And i'm really a homebody. I love being by myself. But at that time i did not consider myself to be.

"Choose to respond to as a boundary. Now you just don't be abrasive and rude about it. Sat in a boundary can look like when say somebody calls you and you love them and you don't mind talking to them but sometimes they can just be really negative. Would i choose to do. Sometimes is i i choose to say. Hey what you up to. And i'll say something like Had about ten minutes. And then i got a jump off you know and they kinda lets the person no it will. They don't have long talk or when they start talking negative. Then it's like. I tried to change the subject or something like that. Or if you're really bold in somebody's always negative when they call you can always say you know the past three times moosewood spoken. I'm you you've been a little negative there anything. You want process. That's only it had the emotional capacity to do that guy. So that's just kind of some things that i've been doing over the past year of my life so this birthday episode. I am the special guest. Now that you know ten minutes in i am the special guest all right. I just wanted to check in with you guys just to let you know how i'm doing. How often failing. And i'm doing good definitely because i had to support a you guys may twenty fifth. I released my first book checking in and y'all responded so well to it. I've got a journal coming out. That accompanies map but checking in. It's called the daily check in so just like i check in with you guys on a weekly basis you'll get the chance to check in daily with my journal. Caught the daily check in. Listen july of two thousand eighteen. I checked into a treatment facility for depression. Also july's birthday. So i also tried to make sure that this month is full of joy and a month of me creating new memories and i just remember ya. It was dark from me. That just felt so hopeless. You know as i write in the book. I went as far as writing my own funeral requests. That's when you're in a really dark hopeless place. But i definitely do not have those thoughts anymore because i choose life and i think what happens is you have to not come into agreement with the lies that are whispered into your ear of. You're not valuable. Nobody loves you. Nobody sees you. You're worthless and most of the time you have those thoughts because of words that somebody that she really loved spoke over you. Sometimes if a stranger says something it might you know staying a little bit but you might may owing no me kind of dusted off your shoulders but when a loved one says it to you when i mean a loved one i'm not talking about just a mother father could be. Your boyfriend has sponsored partner. A loved one can be somebody that you really looked up to an admiring. And they've been in your inner circle in they say or do something to you and you begin to think is person does not love me so am i not lovable. Am i not valuable enough. That they would say such cruel things to me or they would do that to me. So i just refuse to give in to sites anymore in so i just wanna discuss the fullness of being able to enjoy a perfect day birthdays. Hit differently for me. Now especially when i reached a point in my life where. I didn't think that i would see another birthday coming. And i know my podcast. You know because. I have other guests. Sometimes i'm not able to really talk about myself which is not what you do on an interview. It ain't about shoo michelle like you can insert you know inexperienced here and there but the podcast is not about me necessarily my guest. They're checking in with me letting me know out there doing what they've got going on in so i just wanted to definitely dedicate this episode to really checking in with others. That's one of the three pillars mapra Checking in k. One of the pillars is checking in with others. Checking in with yourself checking in with guy today like i said we're checked. I'm checking in with you. You are others so Checking in with others simply just looks like picking up the phone calling. Some were checking in seeing how they're doing letting them know that you are right. It can mean checking. Somebody like your accountability partner. You know checking with somebody that says girl. I'm tempted. i said i wasn't like me. I shouldn't have dairy right. But man. I love off gratin potatoes. Y'all those thinly. Lee sliced potatoes baked in cheek. Saw i need someone to hold me. Accountable says you can't eat that all the time. But i definitely had some for my birthday weekend. And i love cheese pizza. Yup pray for me. That i i. I don't know if i can do. What am i going do. What am i going to do. So i'm just really grateful to check in. And i'm really grateful to also reflect on some Favorite podcast episodes. You guys have to let me know what some of your favorite moments were is. Well i know emmanuel actual listen. He said this cast on fire. Didn't he that to carolina. Leave dr amira. Oh goulet doctor. Is nicole. Lynn abbey mckinney. Kierra sheard. there's been so many people that have been so awesome. Siamese you to let me know what your favorite episode has been and you know have had some amazing pivotal moments this past year. I wrote a book. I started a podcast after a period of time where i felt like me and people are gonna wanna work with me. People going to trust me. Will people see me as somebody you know. That's an asset. You know that. I can still bring things to the table. Even though i went through a dark place. And i was wondering will. I have a lotta shame. I was so worried about that moment. When i was in that treatment facility after it was after especially when i got out of the hospital and i saw all the headline aids in i was like oh my god. What am i going.

"Hey everybody it's your girl. Michelle williams and i'm so delighted that you are checking in today on a new episode and today i wanna take a new approach to checking in. I always remind people to check in with themselves with god and with others and on this episode. So i'm checking in with you for a moment of reflection on my own life now. This past friday. Love all the tweets in dmz instagram messages facebook post. I really really appreciate it. If i didn't get around to re posting everything or replying to everything just know that. I definitely saw as much as i could stand intake so i'm really grateful i was in orlando florida for my birthday. This weekend was the i believe. Experience you guys. If y'all wanna know what's been a part of my emotional strain in hilly in building in things just just going good. listen follow. I am believe nation on instagram. And it's helmed by my good friend. David immonen ta. You can follow him as well. David emanates filled. I am all in i t. And he's the founder of believe nation on. He was on a podcast a couple months ago. I'm speaking about the power of believing in. it's not some magic potion. It's not somewhere you rub the genie in a bottle in you know. It's none of that but just amazing principles for success amazing principles of really tapping in to what is on the inside view the power that is on the inside of you. I wonder if some of us are kind of scared to really tap in to the power inside of us that can propel us into great change. that can pro. Pell you integrate. Success that if you can get out of your way and really tap into the power up belief you could be the person that changes everything that changes the game for your entire family for the rest of your life for the trajectory of your life. Like for your children for your children's children and listen. It's so so crucial. Soul we gathered in orlando florida about three thousand people and it was absolutely amazing. First of all to be in a room with that many people you know. When this time last year we could not. What a difference a year makes it was absolute phenomenal. All of us Join together in allstate together will not all three thousand people a lot of friends in over my birthday. That was friday. They gave me a cake. And then saturday. Another cake in the fabulous. David michael wyatt. I'm gonna post yama post. Some of it Sometimes i forget to post a lotta light my life stuff personal stuff you know so. That's what i did for my birthday. I'm so full of gratitude That i made it another year round. The sun and i know people were like michelle. Are you anxious about getting older. And i have to say I am not. I feel like i'm ima- stri- i feel like my swag is like it's it's like i'm cemented in the woman that i love right now if we really think about it and if we stay open invulnerable and committed to growing this time next year. I don't plan on being the same as i was at the age of forty two. Now i plan on having the same joy strength. I plan on having that but there are still levels to this life that i want to attain an. I know that. I will in the great thing about you. Know eappen very honest about what. I've gone through a misfire as my dark days in dealing with depression in for the past two and half three years. I've been taught how to respond to life because you can overcome depression. You can overcome so many challenges but honey life is going to happen. Unexpected death in the family can occur. Or you lose your job or you know. Somebody betrays you. Your boyfriend walks out on. Your girlfriend betrays you your mom your dad. Somebody says something truly hurtful in it. Rock she to your core. That's life happening right. So i'm learning. How do i want to respond when life happens. In december of twenty twenty is many of you know my father passed. And i had to tap into that inner strength at the tap into. How do i want to choose to respond to my father's passing. Did i shed tears absolutely anytime. You have a loss of any kind. You can shed tears alright. But i was like. I don't know if i want to be depressed. I refuse to be down in the dumps right. That was me. That's my choice right first of all. My dad's suffered. He suffered for about the last year of his life which is saw a change in the decline in his own of fifteen years. he couldn't really walk talk Which were the side effects of a stroke that he had so. I really feel like my dad is in heaven. He's walking. These talking is not in any pain. He left in such a peaceful manner. When i thought of those things. That's how i choose us said you know what i'm going to respond with gratitude. I'm going to respond with love. I just start to think of the music that he loves. He loves p funk man. he loves the p. faulk. And i'll never forget not too long ago i went to lunch in a song by p long came over the speaker system in the restaurant. House like dad is here. So that's i choose to respond to that circumstance as it relates to a life circumstance. Things are gonna happen. How do i choose to respond to a text that normally would around me up now. I can just look at a texas say. Oh man that's unfortunate. And either i can choose to respond or not right. But i've definitely made sure y'all this past year i've definitely i continue to eliminate things that disturb my piece sex kind of one encourage you to do the same. What do you mean. You've eliminated things or people that disturb you piece is called boundaries right. It's called a boundary will. What is a boundary a boundary simply is like a line or parameter set. It's a line that marks the limits of an area so the line that marks the limits of area. okay michelle. What area do you have a boundary in. Well who comes in my house even who sits in my car who comes in my personal space. My cellphone who choose to talk to watch..

"That sounds like a character in a movie that i would love to watch denote. I mean like almo- or someone who is like has these romantic longings and pleasures that you seek out and make for yourself. I love that it left me vulnerable in relationships so re. Oh yeah yeah that quality was like here you go. I hurt just hearing that. Because i feel like some part of me gets that longing has been a very interesting word. This is very random. What i'm about to say an. I don't feel like someone who tells the story lot simply because it involves a singer that i grew up loving and i always feel namedrop but one of my therapists at a certain point over the last four years after my divorce sent me to amy. Grant's house he was just like you need to meet amy grant and i was like okay. Love her record. She already seems in djelic the best so i imagine you walking into like a house of light the best person and the most cozy beautiful household and she's married event skill which is like there was this. I mean they probably mortified me talking about it like he came home from the guitar store. It was just very like of course. This is happening. Went numb here. At amy grant house but she talked to me so much about just a terrible divorce she went through and falling in love with vents. And like having all you know like an aching longing that she feels like makes her not only love her husband but like her husband and i just remember thinking like oh the word longing it resonates in me so heavily and i don't even always know what it relates to i just as a kid. I was longing as a teenager. I was longing and even when you know the ban was like on top of the world and we're doing things for the first time that were so crazy. There was always a part of me and it got me into trouble a lot. Which is why. I say like when you say it was hard for your relationships. I relate to that getting manda trouble to that like longing feeling can you identify with the longing was four. Why i think i could guess ally. I feel like most of my deepest wounds or deepest things that really got set in to my foundations or just because of my parents growing up and they divorced. I was like a very dreamy. Romantic kid and i was like. Why is this happening every time we went to the mall. I would throw pennies in the wishing well and just be like. Please get back together. I was like. I just was longing for some version of my life that i thought i would never get and then i became a teenager. My parents became friends again and they never dated again at that point. I didn't really long for that. But i was always longing for what i didn't have an. I do think that that got set in with my parents divorce and then it sort of became applied to other things throughout my life. It was just a groove that was worn so deep it was comfortable. That was a comfortable feeling for me. That made me think about. If you are like me in the sense that i was never comfortable with the idea of a man taking care of me in any way. Yeah i think that that idea..

"Up in the middle a little bit. Well yes this is an ongoing place in my life. I engaged with people through and my friend. Alison sinclair who. I met my first year of university. At the university of victoria in a calculus class was also a writer and we started our universes sort of cross pollinated and the place where her story her engagement with the oklahoma universe began. Historically in the universe was at the place where book for was right so she had already published independently of me in and when she was approached by edge. She said well. I don't have anything up my sleep right now. But there's this thing. I do with my friend so she was really my open door to edge and so we started with the book where her interest began and it was. It was difficult because in the beginning nobody can see. The iceberg has published a book. So where's the book and the publishing industry is very focused. Its we have thirty seconds to explain yourself here. You know So it was a difficult starting with book for because people coming to book for now understand what's going on much more short but it's always hard to make every book interesting on its own but still part of the greater whole talks conversation with linda williams will return just a moment lori buddy. I'm javier hernandez creator of the comic book l. marco now a bill and you're listening to buy and now that then after that you actually started going Kind of filling in the blanks. So i mean this is actually started in. Oh two is is so now you know here. We are eight and the next one is due in may of nine So pretty cool is it. has it evolved. What you thought of or i mean. Do you have a set outline as to where you're going or or how is it that you how what's your strategy in this universe. Well what. I'm portraying now in the publishing. That's coming out on Yokel universe is sort of the payload at thirty years of immersion. My so I do have a plan. There's always been a plan of sorts for the whole series the way it was never created on the basis that well we'll do the first book and if that fails we'll do the next one it was always the whole thing. The last books routes some are in the early books factor introduced in book two for example right just anger and And they returned to cause trouble in in in a holy war which is the second book so yes. There is a plan At the same time it's a big university so when other people do things with me Like ca stories friends allergies and things like that. There's lots of places where there are corners who haven't been filled in or entire vistas of Space and time. The main arc of the main series has always been something that i have known and worked on If volvo it changes Far arena the one. That's coming out in may stimulated to do that when i was watching the oj simpson business. Which for me was that. Turning point when. I recognize that the society with watching things and the heisenberg uncertainty principle. That watching itself was changing. So i thought at trial becoming not about a man killing his wife but about how society treats negroes and it all that attention warped the nature of what was going on and that interested me and so That was part of what Germinated far which is only now coming out so one of the threads in there and you've actually are working with his mentioned other authors I think i read that. Marley billow villa do is going to be working with you Or very excuse me. Yeah and maria is going to be Over the years there's been many different ways that people being engaged with the universe one way or another and marie has agreed to work on a title for to go carell legacy series which published by absolute express and that's a an imprint of haiti's publication. I mean publisher. And she's going to be doing interviews with people that have been involved in one way or another because it touches people who are just two writers who are librarians who in one way or another have engaged with it. And i think that that story is interesting as well because it's a story of community and creativity. I i heard something that there is an rpg and related to this university Well i had a online. I i wrote a story A story in article. Once that i put online about the red reach game and people keep saying that to me. They keep saying. Oh this could be a multi person player game or it could be just kinda game where it could be a board game and the trouble with that if twofold partly it's i i'm i'm a computer scientist by training. I know exactly how much it costs to develop something really new. And i'm not really interested in just whipping some chrome on and instead of having elves and dwarves have relish dentistry or something. 'cause i'd like a game that embodied the spirit of the let's not destroy the neighborhood while we're fighting over status Kind of scenario. So i wrote the scenario about the red reach game and how i felt that that some of the rules of the game could actually underpin the philosophy of oklahoma out but there have been many people expressed an interest and then realize how much work it is and go away so i think that will have to wait for a while. That's excellent That's quite a story so i mean how. Do you kind of combine. Everything i mean. You're you're you're you're you teach you. You're also. I mean you have a job obviously you you have your wife and mother and also a writer how do you kind of. How does everything schedule itself out. Or how do you do well. The writing happens. I i long ago. I realized that if i could stop writing i really should and i guess i couldn't hear i am and I love it. It's it's part of who i am and now i have family members that are supportive and involved with me and in helping keeping it going charging. My battery charging my rail batteries. They call that and some of their fans in my friends do that too. I'm not teaching anymore now. I've taught between college and university and one of the decisions i had to make. When brian said he wanted to book every six months to get the series finished Was you know what was i going to stop doing. So it was a big transition time in my life anyway. And so i thought thought about it and i decided no my that. I would rather have another book done. "Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of the frames podcast. My name is Scott Olsen. And today I am Overjoyed to be talking with Sharon Williams Sharon is a member of the frames Community. She lives in one of God's gifts to photographers Ireland and his doing work that when it goes by on my screen is immediately arresting immediately compelling and someone that I've wanted to meet and talk to about her work for some time now Sharon, how are you today? I'm really good Scott. How are you? I am wonderful. I have to ask because I'm just completely jealous. How is Ireland? What does Ireland look like today? Well, Ireland Spain Four Seasons in one day. I suppose as it is most often. It's a very wet and windy but lots of sunshine in between. Oh man. I've Had The Good Fortune to be there a couple of times and every single bit of it from you know the song Inner City to the the countryside is from a photographer's point of view. I think really compelling you are doing work that is not like the work a lot of people on the commission are doing and work that when it goes by as I said really does cost me to stop and look and you're calling it fine art floral photography. That's not all you do. You do landscaping do portraits that this is all on your website for those of you that are that enjoy looking at websites during these conversations. Her website is s Williams images.com s w i l l i a m s i m a g e s. Tell me how you got started in photography. Did you remember your first camera? Do you remember when you first start thinking of yourself as a photographer? Yes. Well, that's not that long ago and my husband bought me a Camera DSLR nickel and for Christmas one year. It's probably dead. 2014 and and then a couple of months later. I'm thrilled cuz I had an idea that I would like to take photographs and a few months later wage. I work in the local hospice and we were looking at maybe doing a calendar for the first year as a fundraiser, cuz I had me brand new camera. I was nominated as a photographer. So there's no pressure. So it was the best thing ready cuz it really focused my attention on what I was doing and I said about we change the the Hospice and and dairy here boy hospice is set an amazing Grimes. We it's it's on the banks of the river Foyle and it has sneezing Gardens that I've been a script and maintained by volunteers over thirty years. And so that's where I immediately Drew my inspiration from the calendar and the calendar worked out really well. So I was inspired to sort of keep going. And did you have any training at all or was it just you know work yourself off of automatic as as gradually as you could chuck. Yeah. Well, my dad does spend to stay away from automatic and go straight into Nigel. So that's what I've always done. I never use automatic. In fact, if I do I get confused. I like the absolute control over what I'm doing but in the September of the following year, I did take a short course in the local College here and the city and Guilds of course and which really introduced me to page, you know, hire a camera works and and introduced me to a new community of people as well which and it was amazing. And then after that I took another course and it was at that point. I had started really experimenting with this and came across this sort of like pad photography, but I have to say I was always fairly experimental because off The rules were a bit too fast and maybe a bit too rigid for me. So I had always sort of my first delved into like an intentional camera moves. I see em work. Yep. And I love that. I just love the movement you could get from that. And from there. I started working in Photoshop bringing like the Box focused into the ICM work and blend on the two together so very abstract and but seemed to go down well with you know, some people that aren't really appreciated it so long I kept going.
