"All right, now we head over to the NFL where an all pro linebacker is making his return to Seattle, and he might be the key piece they need to make a run in a wide open NFC next season. Yeah, that's right, John on Saturday, the Seahawks announced that linebacker Bobby Wagner will be returning to the 12s, Seahawks fans are known. For his 12th NFL season, and Wagner posted a short video for those fans on social media Sunday. What I would have 12 is Bobby Wagner here, excited to be back, excited to be back on the team. I missed you guys, and I look forward to this season. This is a big homecoming for Wagner, the star linebacker played his first ten seasons in Seattle when he made 8 straight pro bowls, while also leading the franchise to its first ever Super Bowl title. Last season Wagner played for the rams where he was named a second team all pro, but Los Angeles released him this off season for cap reasons and Wagner now returns to Seattle on a reported one year $7 million deal and Wagner is joining a beefed up Seahawks defense. I do dare. I mean, think about it, John. The NFC west is totally up for grabs with the rams dealing with cap issues in the forty-niners quarterback situation in flux. Not to mention Aaron Rodgers looks like he's leaving for the AFC, Tom Brady retired, and the eagles lost a number of key pieces. So there really isn't an NFC team that screams Super Bowl contenders, so maybe we Seattle could be a good dark horse contender for a Super Bowl birth. And you can at least get nausea, some of the stuff that he wasn't able to get somewhere else. Now, I will caution our audience that I had a very, very similar saquon Barkley Daniel Jones take. Almost identical and that never came to fruition. Mostly though, because I think saquon might be maybe had some fatal flaws with his backfield vision that we never really came to realize. But the guy I circle and I made this point a little while ago that defensive line, but Devin bush is a guy at circle here because he was coming off the ACL injury last year. The defensive line was not very good in front of him. And again, I thought they were linebacker plate was really, really poor between Devin bush and Joe schobert. However, you would feel, you know, if you threw out last year, you would feel pretty good about Devin Bush going forward. They've certainly upgraded up front not only with the aloha coming back, but I love Larry Elgin Joby. I think that's a great addition there. I know we had some medical stuff. So they might just have the same issue this year where they can't stay healthy on the defensive line, but if you can cover up Devin bush a little bit and let him sort of run free, I think you might have something of a mini breakout year.

I think cameras just played the best game of his. Nfl career to this point. I mean that. Because i think he's the hardest role he's had to play and he was really good so for me. Cameras sutton great rate game. We've onto james pierre. James pierre was not coming on nickel plays like they thought they might you do instead. James pierre came in on dime snaps. So cameron sutton in the nickel was outside. The kept cameron sutton outside. They put traynor would in the slot for nickel in dime. James pierre came in for one of the linebackers he played outside and sutton slid right back in to the diamondback role that he has played so well for the last three four years. Pierre was solid again not great. You don't need greatness from your number. Four cornerback right outside of one incredible. Pass up he had in the fourth quarter they kind of bit of a blown coverage and you see james pure comment and just you know tomahawk chop the ball right out of the receivers hands and it was a cool play. But it's it's even better when you look at what happened after that. And this is one of those butterfly effect place of course. The butterfly effect is the theory that like a butterfly flaps his wings over here and a soon nami happens because a chain of events occurs right james pierre on second and six knocks the ball out of a receivers hands comes in bloom. Covers receivers wide open jane spear hustles over bam knocks the ball out pass broken up its third and six on third and six cam hayward sacks josh now fourth and twelve on that fourth and twelve play miles killebrew bursts through blocks the pie and the steelers score a touchdown if james pierre doesn't recognize that there's a bride receiver wide open on that play about to catch the ball. It doesn't make it there and knock that ball down the bills convert on second six instead of third and six and a hayward sack you have a first and ten very different drive and quite possibly a different result in the final score. So that's one of those moments. I'd like to pick out where people are like. Oh you know this play was super important. Sometimes there's plays that someone makes like that it's just a hustle play just a just a catch up play. That has a bigger impact than just. Hey you know that's the now. Go to thirty six one..

Devin bush is already devon white or roquan smith. And they're just like okay. You're going to get devon bush back in the history of the steelers defense at inside linebacker. Incredible it's like. I haven't seen that out of devon bush like he is a flashy player that you see with with splash plays i. I don't know if he's been particularly effective. And he's coming off of a major injury and that that is a thin position for the steelers if you wanna pick on their defense. Their defense was number one in dvd last year. It was a good defense. But they've lost a couple of people and they need devon bush To be to take a big step and people are just kind of assuming it's going to happen. It's like i got to see that happen. I mean also. I think the thin at cornerback. I'll stay in the afc north. And you know if you wanna talk about a team that could be experiencing some shortness of breath. Maybe even heart issues. If they don't get production at the pass rushing position it could be the ravens. And greg points out that you know every year it feels like they lose their number one dude and like that happened again but the now of thomas bowser pernell mcphee and jalen ferguson as their lead dudes who last year. And you know they have the rookie too. But last year those guys combined for seven six you're asking and the ravens aren't necessarily like when your rookie jumping in play as much as you normally would like. They kind of slow bake them so they're going to need help there. I also look at their backup quarterback position. If anything happens to lamar jackson i guess. Maybe it's cliche to say you worry about lamar jackson getting injured. But he's that kind of a quarterback. Your backup is trace mcsorley. Who i like is like a maybe a little gadget type player here there. But i wonder if erica who is always enacted. Gm might look for some veterans in both of those spots heading towards the end of training camp to patch that up. I think we got a glimpse of what the ravens would look like with trace mcsorley in that monday night. Game against the browns. Leaving are jackson had to run to the locker room. Thankfully he's able to overcome the quick cramps and come back in time to only individual. But you wouldn't want to be caught in that same. And you'd have david decastro but i'm not happy about tackles from this point right now in another next gen dive. Real quick this dealers were second. Last in the league in expected rushing yards per attempt which basically measures how effective their offensive line is the only team that is worse than them was the browns but the difference between the browns in them was the bras. Running backs overcame that consistently. They posted the best rushing yards over expectation in the entire. Nfl the steelers. And that was it Plus one point one five yards per attempt so the running backs were consistently exceeding expectations and doing their job to a very high degree. The steelers were at negative zero point. Zero one yards per attempt so the running effective and their offense of lime is also ineffective. So if you run back a line that looks very similar this year you add nausea harris. That's a lot to put on the shoulders of a rookie. Who does have lot of mileage on him. coming out of alabama. So i think that's gonna be a big thing to watch For the steelers this year. And how in the chances for their offense if we're carving up the afc north. I might as well plug in on the bengals here and greg. You pointed out and it makes sense. There's potential here for this offense to take a big jump now. The joe burrow. Acl situation ripped up his knee. Something fierce And it's good that he's back practicing not as and you hope he's close to the same guy there's a bit of projection here that he makes the second nearly and improves as a player of the knee cooperates. And then you have. You know you got your march as they're now You have tyler boyd. Underrated guy t higgins joe mixing running back. I don't know what to take from the joe mixing experience at this point but we know fantastically talented and he still has prime years ahead of them. The offensive line. As you point out greg maybe Maybe penny sewell would have been the guy a logical pick there but you know what there are pieces there that they that are developing at the offensive line gets better and they did bring in riley review of course there to help on that end with these weapons and boroughs potential. I'm not saying there's going to be four teams in the afc north with nine plus wins. I just think that cincinnati might moxham things up and you know the the bullies like sessile in the browns looking down and pointing and laughing at them. They might not be doing that. If this team comes together a little quickly more quickly than people anticipate. I mean a year ago. I said that. I thought zac taylor had a chance to be coach of the year. I think a lot of it comes down to the specialness taylor brings. But i don't think the bengals are a two or three win team. They they have a pretty pretty good roster on offense they should be a team that goes out and you know. They beat tennessee last year. That's the one game. I look at where i thought you. Kinda got a glimpse bad teams. Give you a little glimpse of what they can be with. Borough healthy and all that business. They lost their quarterback. The floor fell out. They've been ravaged by injuries. Really as much as any team in that division or that conference over the last couple of years. You haven't really had a chance to see what they can be. They can win eight games. I don't know if the defense is going to be worth a damn there..

"And how the Steelers air in that no man's land type of territory where they're not awful. They're not Super Bowl worthy. You can make an argument that will make the playoffs. You could make an argument that they'll miss the playoffs Eileen more towards on the side right now that they will make the postseason. However, I have zero expectation. Other than that. You know if you kind of look at it right now. And I know they shouldn't be the case, especially when you pay a quarterback. The second most average annual value in the league. Isn't Dallas the same type of team? Aren't the Cowboys kind of a no man's land territory to the defense stinks. They're kind of like the opposite of the Steelers. The Steelers have a great defense. The Cowboys have a terrible defense. The Cowboys have what you think can be a very much so prolific passing offense. The Steelers offense the line is shaky. And you also have zero run game. Really. Dallas needs to have a trade with Pittsburgh at Dallas and Pittsburgh SWAT teams. That could be a Super Bowl team. Maybe that's the only way Jerry Jones will be able to win another Super Bowl ring. Hey, calls up the Steelers Kevin Colbert. Just need to trade my defense for your defense and Kevin Colbert would laugh him off the phone because the Cowboys defense stinks. And the Steelers defense is actually really good with T. J Watt. And you got Devin Bush and you got Minka Fitzpatrick? And you got Cam Heyward and so on and so on. That would actually be a great trade for the Cowboys. If they could do that. It would be instant upgrade. Take the staples, but it out, slap it. That was easy when I look at the Cowboys, though. The Cowboys are gonna be horrible. This year. The Cowboys aren't going to be great. And when you look at Dallas I personally am a fan of Dak Prescott. I think it's a good quarterback, and we'll see if we could become greater currently think he's a top 10 quarterback in the league. When I look at Dallas, though, what's the expectation this year? Sure you start off with one in the division are they lock to win the division? I can't call them a lot. Personally, I would go with them over Washington's football team. It would not surprise me, though. Washington's football team did win the division. And even if the Cowboys do win the division They're sealing is what Win a playoff game You can't go into this year. If you're a Cowboys fan thinking that you're Super Bowl team you can't go into this year for your Cowboys fan thinking that Really you guys could do anything more than just winning a playoff game. So the Steelers to May Are in that no man's land territory and also the Cowboys for this upcoming season. Give you a few more teams, and I'm going to kind of try to just associate also with some big name quarterbacks. How about Matt Ryan with the Falcons? So the Falcons right now have a new regime. Terry Fontinot. The Falcons right now also hired Arthur Smith. They were a team that used to be in the playoffs here after you have two year got two Super Bowl, then got to the playoffs that the year after that. You know they were building something and then the wheels really did fall off. The wheels started to fall off when they were 28 to 3 in the Super Bowl. The next year, they answer back back to the playoffs. They were in the divisional round, they had multiple chances. Ago when the game and they couldn't connect Matt Ryan to Julio Jones. And after that, it was just Arthur Blank. I'm gonna keep on running it back. I'm going to keep on running it back. I'm gonna be loyal out of fault. And then it crashed and burned. And it was awful at the Falcon state for they could pick Justin Fields. If Justin feels doesn't go through, and I don't think he will. They could pick Trey Lance at 42. They could trade the pick as we discussed and I think that's probably what they're going to do, or They could go well for keeping that Ryan Even though our defense is shaky. Let's try to expedite this process and get back to the playoffs ASAP. And if they want to do that, Go get Kyle pits. Does. Matt Ryan, still a good quarterback, Julio Jones went healthiest, still a great wide receiver. Calvin Ridley. Showed you he is a young emerging star. And if you could have Kyle Pitts, who from most draft experts project that Kyle Pitts is the best non quarterback in this draft. That's an offense. I'll be intrigued to see what the Falcons do. I don't know if they could stop anyone. It kind of is the same thing when you look at Dallas Alice, we know could score. Dallas can't stop anyone. The Falcons that they get Kyle pits even They don't get caliphates. We know they could score. There are some consistency problems there, though. Some inconsistencies. I just don't know if they'll be able to stop anyone. So I looked at the Falcons. I don't expect them to be picking in the top five again. Don't expect him to be a Super Bowl contender. I don't expect them to win their division. Maybe they have an outside chance of making the playoffs and think it's more likely no playoffs than playoffs, But they're kind of in. If it was still 16 games. You'd kind of say I could see them going eight and eight, maybe a best make the playoffs at nine and seven. You don't expect him to do any damage, though in the postseason. "Go a different route casey. It's the running game very non characteristic for this team to not be very good in the ground game and they're just they're a little more than not very good. They're the lowest ranked run team in the league which is eighty four yards rushing per game. There've been games where they have hardly had any rushing yards. Okay now They're going to have to find some balance if they want to prosper in these. Nfl playoffs k. c. Defensively though this suspense strong team all year they were superb for a while they did league lead the nfl with fifty six sacks. Tj watt had fifteen. Two league lead the league himself and they have pro bowlers at each level with cam. Heyward on the defensive line. Tj wide at linebacker and fitzpatrick in the safety position. Very very strong defense now. Their third in total yards third in passing and third in points with just nineteen and a half lead slightly less impressive though in stopping the run. Like you mentioned. They kind of slipped a little bit in that category but they're still ranked eleventh on the season. So that's still a pretty solid area for them. Defensively they are one of the best teams at creating turnovers. That has helped the squad get to plus nine on turnover ratio for the season. They did part of that. Slap that little slide on defense case he had to do with losing guys like devin bush and but dupree and now joe haden tested positive for covid so he won't be available for the game that's gotta really are for him being a former around. So they're not. They're not at full strength like they were when they were winning. Those ten straight games to start the season but the defense is still accumulated. All of those lofty stats. Those are legit and it still has very very strong defenseman. This is gonna be a tough battle for baker and the boys in this game but it is going to be fun to watch. I can't wait.
