"Think the question is, does he want to hit free agency again or does he want to correct in different places? Some players feel differently about that. He may want ten you may want 12 years. He may say I don't want to, I want to be locked up. I want to be good forever. Or he may say, you know what? I'd like to add freedom to see again in my early 30s and I don't want the long-term deal. So and I do either way, whichever way you keep them here for a long period of time, Anthony Rendon is currently the highest paid third baseman in baseball. He's making $36 million. That's a lot though. This guy's going to be an MVP candidate ever. If he stays healthy, I agree. And if that's the case, then, and a few of the Red Sox and you want to save some on the AAV, the average annual value of that contract, I think you're going to have to give him a long, long-term deal. And see if Devers will bite on it. Right. The other thing is Rendon. I'm looking to see when he's signed this deal. I think it was somewhat recently, yeah. So he signed that deal. It was 7 years, $245 million. He signed that at age 30. Boy, that's a lot of doubt. Endeavors is 25. Devers is going to get more than that. I think you're going to be a record breaking contract. It's going to be ten years. Ten years, 300 million is probably very close to the ballpark that diversity is going to be looking for. I would give them 30 million a year and what's Rendon getting? 36. So 30 million a year is actually underpaid. It might be more like ten, three 50. $30 million a year with time with Machado. He'd be the third highest paid third baseman. I'm not saying he's Pablo Sandoval, but I think in the back of the Red Sox mine, they privately would tell you if there's one concern about Rafael Devers, it's his weight, it's his conditioning, right? I mean, are we on the same page there, Alex? Yeah, well, so hang on. So we are. I'm digging in. So here's the cop, because I was going to say how many guys with the way teams manipulate service time. How many guys really become free agents at 25? Manny Machado at 26, ten years, 300 million. Yep..

"We're talking contracts. You know what that means, Alex. We got to bring up the number one story in Red Sox land over the weekend, June Lee reported this for ESPN dot com. Right around opening day actually right on opening day. Last week, and that was the fact that apparently Xander Bogart's not pleased with the Red Sox and he is looking for elite shortstop money and the Red Sox priority is Rafael Devers. None of that surprises me. Not anything that I just uttered in that sentence surprises me. You. No, no. Look, I think that they should try to bring back both if you have to pick one. It's diverse. It's obvious. Yes, I don't think that's any question. So I think Trevor story signing was the writing on the wall. Again, it would have been cool to have all three. You add casses to that. You might get the best offensive infield and baseball for four or 5 years, whatever it may be. We talked about this last time I was on. I think they should be able to sign both. There's no other big contracts on the horizon. The cassus might be the next one. And at that point, Bogart still might be over. But if they have to prioritize one, it's never. That being said, they have to sign Raphael Devers. If they're going to let zander Bogart walk, you can't lose both. No. And Rafael Devers is off to the kind of start that Red Sox fans would like to see one home run. He's got two doubles, 5 hits overall. In 16 at bats, he's hitting three 13. His OPS is 9 78 through four games, whatever that means. But I don't think there's going to be any slowing down. One thing I did notice, and we saw it on Monday again, Raphael Devers has some range now, especially to his left. And that play he made in the middle part of the game on Monday was very, very impressive. And if he can make those plays, then absolutely, he gets his wish of wanting.

"Great. We'll see what Joey Gallo is. So I think that they kind of remind me of the Red Sox where the potential is there. It's just, I don't know if they can do it consistently enough. The scary thing for me is if they are going to win, they're going to win hitting the baseball, right? Because where those guys are on Gallo, Rizzo. Yeah, go on. They can get stand judge. Thank you, dawn. The Jays, obviously, they can hit the crap out of the ball too. The Red Sox are designed to win games 11 to 8. And in a division full of teams that are also trying to win shootouts, I can get a little rough and the Red Sox probably have the worst bullpen of the three teams. That is the one thing I'd say the Yankees have definitively over the Red Sox. They have a good question. And that was the irony of Sunday Night is the Red Sox bullpen outperformed the Yankee bullpen. Not by a lot, but enough to make a difference. By the way, it sounds like Aaron judge they're not going to extend them anytime soon, and he's going to hit free agency. You know, why would they? Teams don't extend good players in Major League Baseball. Apparently, except the pirates out of nowhere cabri and Hayes, the first time ever spending money. I love that deal. Smart deal by Pittsburgh. Good for the fans to actually get to see a player hit the age 30 in their city. When's the last time that happened? Joey Votto, Cincinnati. I was saying in Pittsburgh. Oh, in Pittsburgh, a boy, go back to the old, the lumber company days. You have to go back that far. I can't remember last time. Even when even in Barry Bonds and Bobby bonilla days, they didn't extend their players, obviously that's why Barry Bonds left for the Giants..

"Talk about deek, man, right? I've deep minced numbers here. You go back to the last few years. Last year, three 8 6 ERA in Oakland, the year before that, O four two very good, although only in 21 innings. Before that, four 6 5 four 7 three two 5 three three 44 one, he comes and goes. He comes and goes. You don't necessarily know what you're getting with him. And they found pitchers in their mid to late 30s before and turned them into studs. We all remember Koji. That's kind of a one in a million. I don't know that DeepMind's going to be Koji, but at the same time, they've done this before. We just don't know. And that's what makes it so scary. All right, Garrett whitlock. You referenced it locking him up for four year extension. This year is making $720,000. After this year, four years, $18.75 million to me, that's a steal. And I give all the credit in the world to VP of baseball operations, baseball president, home bloom. 1.2 million next year, 3.5, the next 5.5 in 2024 and the final year of the deal 2025, 7 and a half $1 million. Don't you think that's a steal? It really is. I mean, for a top end pitcher and again, all the more reason you got to put this guy in starting rotation. That money for a top end starter is unbelievable. We don't know that he's a top end starter yet. He's 26. But he has the potential to be. He has the potential to be. I think you have a big difference. I think you have to at least find out. I think you have to at least find out. But yeah, no, it's I'm sorry. Not to dig back in my own narrative. You're right. Whatever he ends up doing. Even if he's a closer, what did Barnes extension go for last year? That was what, 12 per, I think of it here and just give me one minute. Keep talking. Matt Barnes, I got it. It was two years, $18.75 million for this year and next year with an opt out 24. Yeah, I did so much. I did all the research I need to for the show clearly. Yeah, you look at that money. It Barton's was obviously an all star closer last year when he signed that extension. He fell apart in the second half, but the ink was already dry at that point. Whitlock last year was an all star caliber pitcher. He didn't get in, but I mean, we need a one something ERA. He's strikeout ratio was enormous. To compare those two deals, it's an absolute runaway steal for the Red Sox. I'm surprised whitlock signed.

"Spectacular play by Devers, the steel What would have been extra bases right on the line. A judge hustling down the line, able to beat it out for a single couple of really nice place defensively, going to his right. You mention not able to come up to complete that for thee out, but I'm pretty impressive. We know the offense has been there. But as you mentioned earlier that defense improving for Devers and like Xander Bogaards Will we see him? Inching closer and closer every Siri's seems to becoming a superstar. Well, I got him out if they're going to review that Sounds like Something's going on out here to tell me something good music in the background. Parts. Are they reviewing this right now? I cannot tell. I don't see believe they are okay because I still see the plate umpire out there. Wait. I think he's out, so they are going to review that. Prematurely will say Raphael Devers makes his second great play of the night. Going to his right and completing the other was Try to start a double play. They weren't able to complete it, but he did cut off the lead runner second couple of innings ago. They're gets.

"Devers is going to have his own priorities differ. No holds off of a fact that it was just incredibly unpopular Steve's fees. Friday every Friday at eleven only on WTMJ. Gold. Joe they call them. Crazy. Uncle Joe, Joe Biden. Not a really a laughing matter though, when it comes to some of these accusations. I'll be honest, I had not when I've been on with with Eric Bill sat whether it's in four Jeff Wagner, Steve's Kapiti and in recent months and weeks, and Eric has referenced. Joe Biden's, rather touchy feely awkward uncomfortable moments that only just as but even as Senator that have been captured on tape or in photographs, and I'll be honest. I couldn't really remember too many off the top of my head, and I kinda just chuckled when he said it. Well, I spent some time earlier today. Reading articles. And watching some videos YouTube got everything we know that watching some videos of some of Joe Biden's more awkward physical moments with women in his professional career that have been caught on tape. I know why Eric has made those comments, and I'll know why Bill said has said that. And I. Who've you can do that on your own time. But. Here is a story that is coming out today and late yesterday. I have a feeling this may be. The first of several. Her name is Lucy Florez as the AP rights. She was a twenty fourteen democratic nominee for Lieutenant governor of Nevada. She alleges that then vice president Joe Biden kissed the back of her head during a campaign event that here in the state in an article published Friday in the cut Florez wrote that Biden touched her shoulders before kissing the back of her head describing the alleged incident as both quote demeaning disrespectful. According to Florez the event occurred before she made a speech at a rally, featuring Biden in Las Vegas. She says she writes, I found my way to the holding room for the speakers where everyone was chatting taking photos getting ready to speak to the hundreds of voters in the audience. Just before the speeches. We were usher to the side of the stage picture this year. Okay. Yeah. You got a whole bunch of speakers, everybody talks. It's the big build up because we got the EP town stumping for us. Everybody's backstage lining up in the order that they're going to speak. She says as I was taking deep breaths, preparing myself to make my case to the crowd. Remember, she's running for Lieutenant governor. I felt two hands on my shoulders. I froze thinking why is the vice president of the United States touching me? She says Biden Dan leaned in and quote, inhaled her hair before kissing her. She says he proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head. My brain could not process. What was happening? I was embarrassed. I was shocked. I was confused. I couldn't move. And I couldn't say anything I wanted nothing more than to get Biden away from me. My name was called. And I was never happier to get on stage in front of an audience. The article says Biden who has been reportedly gearing up in recent weeks for the possible. Presidential run leads many early polls for the nomination in two thousand sixteen this woman Lucy Florez work as a surrogate for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, we should point out Sanders has already jumped into the race. Again this year this time. Responding to a Twitter user who pointed out her 2016 support for Sanders. Okay. Fair point perhaps. Right. Maybe maybe not. Florez responded because some might say, oh, sure, you're helping out Bernie last time around. You're clearly not a Biden person not not abiding supporter. So maybe you're just doing this too. Kind of ramp up opposition to your guy if your guy Sanders, so she says, okay in the tweet the woman Flora's to set the record straight. I have not endorsed any presidential candidate, including Sanders. But even if I had endorsed someone that does not erase the multiple pictures articles and the well-known open secret at Biden's inappropriate behavior. This should be should have been addressed long ago. So this is the I guess in my recollection. This is the first true. Charge lower KC not criminal charge. The first true charge levied against Joe Biden. Since he has contemplated a run for president for the democrat nominee nomination. This is where if you just pause right there and stop it right there. This is clearly something that he's going to have to address because this story her acusations, which are again, she's a democrat. And while she supported Bernice. I'm just counter-balancing anybody who would say it's a political attack for the time being that we know she is a democrat. Right. She supported Sanders worked as a surrogate for him last time around this time, she has not endorsed anybody. Seeing kind of take the politics off the table. So the Biden people are now charged with explaining this or somehow trying to address this. Biden spokesman his name is Bill Russo and Bill Russo offered a statement on behalf of the former VP to address this charge in the last twenty four hours and believe you me when I tell you that it is a doozy. It is a classic. And I'll read it for you next. The left over fifty years. I can say that I'm thankful for our staff. "Devers is going to have his own priorities. Going to differ. No holds off from a fact that it was just incredibly unpopular Steve scan fees. Friday, four every Friday at eleven only on WTMJ. Hey. No. One in New York City restaurants, the party of one is becoming a cause for celebration. Open table the online reservation system. So the bookings by solo diners at restaurants have skyrocketed recently so much so that even those parties of one Representative or small slice of overall bookings. Some restaurants said that business from solo diners can now account for up to ten percent of sales. It's a story by Wall Street Journal staff writer, Charles Passi, Charles give us some research here. It is Valentine's Day, we're thinking it's the big time for couples to go out. And it turns out in the city solo dining is becoming much more of a thing. Open table, which you know is the big reservation platform says that reservations by fellow diners have increased eighty percent in the last five years. They. There's even a spike of reservations on Valentine's Day itself for people dining by themselves. So a bit of a surprise. I would say the junior psychologists in me says we've become a society of smartphone losers. And we don't know how to socialize anymore is that part of this. Well, you know, you could say that. I mean, you know, the funny thing is is that restaurant hers say that they see a bit of a different way. I mean, obviously, they they welcomed the business. But they say that you know, the diner often is somebody who really appreciates the restaurant experience there there for the food. I mean, maybe for some of the ambiance, they're not there to have a long conversation with their significant other. So and I think you know, I think to some degree the foodie culture does really play into this. I mean, I'll speak personally when I've traveled I've gone to restaurants by myself. An an often cases, you know, sort of high end restaurants that I really want to try. Because they have amazing food. I think a generation ago people didn't do that. I can see I guess. Yeah. If you're traveling. I just have this picture in my mind that were sitting at home and then decide Saturday night to go out by ourselves. Or if you're you're single going out by yourselves. It's just strange, but as as you mentioned. Some of these restaurants catering to these customers with specialty items. Right. Yeah. Well, what would they do some of the some of them offer perk? I spoke to one restaurant that will give you. A glass of champagne another restaurant will give you basically a free appetizer. So they this is a business. They are cultivating. You know? It is interesting though, because in some cases, the fellow diner cost the restaurant a certain bit because you know, if they occupy a table that is essentially for two people think about it. That's that's lost income. If in fact, the restaurant could fill up that table with two people at that time. So there's a little bit of a of a risk. Some people say that solo diners. Also, I spoke to one person in the hospitality industry who said that solo diners are kind of can become good ambassadors for restaurants that that was an interesting way. Charles Charles Passi, staff writer at the Wall Street Journal. It is six minutes now in front of the hour on this weekend. I wanna keep.

"So here's what's coming up on the program. We're going to talk about Devers administration teeing up the fleecing of Wisconsin. Yes, we need. Talk about that. Begins with a big fat gas tax increase that continues to increase. We'll chat about all of the different ways. The IRS administration is looking to increase taxes. That's coming up on the program. Also, Alexandria Cosio Cortez. Green new deal. Have you seen this the green new deal? I I'm trying to figure out the best analogy for Alexandria, Cossio Cortez. There are the best metaphor for her. I'm I'm just sort of. I'm throwing things or I'm just I'm gonna throw some metaphors at the wall to see if they stick. Okay. I'm I've been taken to I've been taking to calling her. Congresswoman barbie. That's so I kind of like that. But another analogy that's in my head for Alexandria, Cossio Cortez is. Is she's a she's a little Yorkshire terrier. And and the Democrats went to the pet store and bought the little Yorkshire terrier from the puppy mill pet store and they bought little Princess outfits for little tiaras for it. And they put it in a purse and they're carrying around they're cute little purse dog. That's Alexandria, Cossio Cortez. But you know, at first people walk up to the dog and go, oh, that's so cute. The cutest little thing I've ever seen. Yep. Yep. Yep. Oh, it's so cute when she Yip's like that. Oh how adorable and then over time. It just keeps going. Yep. Yep. And then it craps all over the place. And so over time people start saying, oh my gosh. You're come the Democrats with their little purse dog again. Can't you leave the dog at home? Isn't there? A doggy daycare. You can go to and that's causing Cortez. She was really adorable at first. And now, she's just the purse. Dog that can't stop yapping or crapping. But we have to deal with her. I wonder if Nancy Pelosi is about ready to. Gouge your own is out. Not that she'd do any damage because those things are frozen in place. But just I mean, I'm I get a sense that Nancy Pelosi is behind closed doors, and she's smearing her lipstick, and she's messing up her hair, and she's pouting up walking around stomping around and and sputtering and in unintelligible rage because this this check is just a hotel. Total total ding bad. She was giving her credit. I mean, she has she has a degree from a reasonably respectable university. But no, no, folks, she's congresswoman Barbie. She's a or she's a little girl who wants to play Barbie and wants to pretend Barbie is a congresswoman because nothing else explains. The inanity that we got today when Alexandria Cossio Cortes released the outline for her green new deal. Now, some people are thinking about the cost of the green new deal, and that has been estimated to be anywhere from fifty to seventy trillion dollars and just to put that into perspective. The government spends three point eight trillion dollars a year and of that three point eight trillion dollars. It spends about a trillion of it is deficit spending at the same time. We are about twenty one trillion dollars in debt that we are having to pay somewhere around six hundred eighty seven billion dollars to service the debt. So we've got this massive mountain of debt we're on ongoing deficit of which is twenty one trillion dollars in debt. We have an ongoing budget deficit of about a trillion dollars. We have government spending at about three point seven to three point eight trillion dollars in Alexandria, Cosio Cortez and her. And, you know, her her Barbie dream team won a pile on minimally. Another five to six trillion dollars a year in an economy that generates about nine thousand nine trillion dollars in gross domestic product. So essentially she wants almost half of all private sector economic output to be used to fund her fantasy. But you haven't even heard her fantasy yet. You haven't even heard this. I mean, it's like she's sitting around going. I want the Barbie dream house, and he went the car VAT, and and and I want ice cream party. And I want a pony. And and I wanna be a Princess. I swear listen to what is contained within this green new deal. You almost can't believe it. And I'm going to read the actual language that Alexandria, Cossio Cortez, comma, college graduate with international relations degree superstar of the Democratic Party wrote herself. The summary document presents rights to be guaranteed quote, a job with a family sustaining wage, family and medical leave vacations and retirement security, high quality education safe affordable. Adequate housing economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work. That's right, folks. Guaranteed jobs for people who don't want them. We will promote Justice and equity by stopping current preventing future and repairing historic oppression of indigenous communities communities of color, migrant communities, deindustrialized communities depopulated rural communities, the poor low income workers women the elderly the on housed people with disabilities and the youth referred to in this resolution as quote, frontline and vulnerable communities. We will meet one hundred percent of the power demand in the United States through clean renewable zero emission energy. Sources we. Set a goal to get to net zero rather than zero emissions in ten years. Because we aren't sure we'll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast. Yes, folks, she actually typed. Farting cows a guaranteed universal access to clean water free of any toxic.
