Phil Mickelson Won't Return to Detroit Tournament After $500K Gambling Report
"Mickelson man. Where do we even begin with this. Basically on tuesday just to get you quickly. Caught up on tuesday the detroit news not to be confused with the detroit. Free press so the second largest News source in the city of detroit released an article that you know basically tied it retold this story of mickelson making a large bet in nineteen ninety nine He and a couple friends were owed five hundred thousand dollars after winning a bet with the local sketchy bookie guy with mob ties and that guy never paid up so it was a story of of phil gambling and winning but not getting paid and you know being connected to some unsavory characters so it was intriguing it. It was in the news because these records had gotten unsealed. Recently in in the last. Few weeks So this guy named robert snell wrote an article about it. Not something that really probably would have even popped up on the national radar. It was behind a paywall The detroit news. From what i can tell has about a subscription size of like one hundred thousand And you know it's it's also not like there's any pre existing beef between phil and robert snell. He's a court reporter like sometimes you'll see tiger doesn't like so and so or you know someone doesn't like what a golf writer is written about them so there's some pre existing beef there that can't be the case here. I'm sure that they have no connection. So anyway Phil came out and essentially said he repudiated the article. He didn't say that it was incorrect. In fact his lawyer basically made it clear that everything in the article was correct but he just went pretty hard at this guy said that based off this article he was not going to return to detroit

Not amazon's fault. Just because of how successful amazon has done particularly in this last couple of weeks with the christmas shopping season so people are getting automated. phone calls. that say they're from amazon security or they'll say this amazon calling and they're like any other normal automated. Call that you might get legitimately from a business. But what they say is that there's pending charge of x. Number of dollars with amazon. And so this is a report from susan. Tom poor with the detroit. Free press about how widespread this particular scam is. And so you were supposed to click one and then somebody comes on the line to talk to you about your Pending amazon charges. And what happens when you do that. Is that individual. "Next one will come from eating with the Detroit Free Press. Governor. What do you think of the announced by the big 10 today that, uh, fall football this year ends. What are the prospects? We might have any significant or so fans at full football games in Michigan. Well, Paul, Thanks for the question. I mean, I think Every one of us is interested in football. Every one of us is tired of covert 19. I am to, um it's this has been a tough time. There's no question and I want to resume some activities that I would ordinarily be doing in the fall like going to a football game. Spent planning to spend holidays with my family. Um, and yet covert 19 is still a very real threat. So I know that the big 10 has been studying the issue. I know that. They've got some of the best experts on their campuses know that the advancements that have been made in terms of testing have given them some greater confidence that they can engage in a truncated Season safely on DH, So I, you know, support the decision that they've made. It's not my decision to make it is it is theirs and they will they will move forward. My conversation with my fellow governors. Last night we were talking a little bit about Spectators and the prospect of that and various types of arenas and we're all trying to do what we can to engage in some normalcy. Keep people safe, and there's not a perfect way to do this, but we continue to watch the virus prevalence in Michigan. We continue Tio determine if there are additional things that we can do safely. But if we want to preserve that is an option. We've gotta be serious about masking up and we've got to be serious about this reengagement of our economy in the in the safest way, and that's everyone doing their part. OK, governor. The last question will come from Brian able with TV seven. Governor. Good afternoon. Thank you. Those collections actually for Secretary Benson on the question is with such sensitivity around election integrity and given the recent mistake with the early 400 ballots, How can Michiganders be absolutely confident that their vote will not only be counted but becomes it properly. Oh, I think you can look for our success of the elections we've had this year. We've We've got some great protections in place. I think you're you're talking about a computer glitch. That was that was quickly addressed and fixed A soon as it was brought to our attention on those voters have have sense received the correct ballots. Look, the next seven weeks are going to be a There's going to be an incredibly intense amount of scrutiny on our state. On and people will be working to take every pick apart. Every single action that I that are clerks take on when you're dealing with Millions of ballots. Millions of voters millions of people voting from home for the first time. We all have to be focused on ensuring that the process goes as smoothly as possible and building partnerships to ensure that's the case. That's what we've been doing. That's what I've been doing since I took office and we've certainly been doing With with full focus on November this entire year in the midst of a pandemic s O That said, I'm proud of the three elections we've successfully held this year. I'm proud that we've Avoided some of the missteps that other states have encountered with long lines at the polls, and that we've built on implemented best practices like a ballot tracking process to ensure people contract their ballots that we've implemented for this first time statewide postelection audit so that citizens can have confidence. That our machines are accurately counting our ballots on. We're going to continue to be transparent every step of the way about all of the issues that we encounter this election and also ensuring that from the moment the polls close to the moment we have the full count of all of our votes that our citizens and the public nationally knows where we are and every step of the process. That's one of the reasons why we created the website. I talked about earlier Michigan dot gov slash election Security because we know in the weeks ahead the efforts to confuse voters or feed on anxieties and fears and challenges, too. So seeds of doubt in our electorate about their confidence and affect their confidence in the process are going to be rampant regardless of what what, what I do or what anyone else does, and so we're going to continue to be transparent. We're going to continue to operate the election Security website to inform voters about everything we're doing and respond to their questions on. We're going to continue doing what we've done successfully thiss entire year, which is inform our citizens about their options to vote this fall. Ensure that those options work for our citizens on DH and also ensure that our clerks have the support and resource is they need to process these historic levels of absentee ballots on also historic turnout that we're anticipating for this ball. Question for Reverend Anthony. That was the last question then I could like hear music. No. Hi, folks. It's mll Rick filling in for guy Gordon here on the on the guy Gordon show. We have just broken away from the press conference in Lansing, with Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson talking about improving Your ability to cast votes. Also talking about some new develops developments on the covert 19 front and taken some pretty interesting questions about their feelings about some errors on the Mike Pence. Ballots and on the return of big 10 football. We're going to be talking about all those things today on the guy, Gordon. Shall we want to hear from you as well? But first, we're gonna take a break to go to Michael steps for the latest on traffic..
A new car recall tool
"So Do you know that? There are so many recalls on vehicles. That, we never deal with things that could be. Actual serious safety defects that could cost you or a loved one, his or her life. And we don't know about it or don't get around to it. So I saw an item in the Detroit free press. That of the vehicles on the road. Get this. This is a shocking number. Fifty, three, million vehicles. Were recalled last year. I that's unbelievable. Fifty, three million. And Some of these things are piddly. Others are life and death kind of things and we just don't seem to. With all the noise of our lives we don't seem to know a lot of times that there is a situation involving one of our vehicles. And it goes blissfully. unrepaired. Till ignorance is no longer bliss and it ends up hurting somebody or worse. So I got two messages for you one. I want you to know. About defects in a vehicle you have and it's really easy. For you to know because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which is the Federal Agency that oversees vehicle safety. Has a new smartphone APP. They're totally free you can download it to your iphone or android. The APP is called safer car. SAF Our car. So we need download the SAFERCAR APP. But many others or safety related maybe very serious like involving steering braking things like that. And You know. I have a relative who has many van who got one recently. That the middle seats have a bracket problem in an accident. The seats of the van can go flying. Obviously, that something important and you WanNa get it taken care of what if you didn't know. So again they APP. Safer cars for both iphones and androids download it safercar put in your Vin you're good to go.
Will Big Ten be next conference to cancel its fall college football season?
"To what Was reported earlier today by Pete Family. Another mid American conference today. They've already canceled their false sports schedule. They say they're going to try to play college football in the spring. According to Pete Family. Big 10 presidents are meeting today they are considering or that what is on the table. Is that they would cancel football for the fall, impossibly moved to spring. Gordon. What we see from the Big 10 commissioner. There are reports out that he Courtesy of the Detroit Free Press. The Big 10 commissioner prefer spring college football season. Now let me break this down in a couple of different ways won a lot of people going to talk about covert. We are obsessed with covert. We're talking about Cove. It rightfully so in a lot of ways, That's something that we should take seriously. I have to remain cynical. I have to remain Questioning these type of things, because I think there's something else at hand here. And I'm not getting a lot of pushback on it. And I know that they bring up the spring schedule and I I hope it's about covert. I hope it's about health. I hope it's about the safety of people involved. I really do hope it's about that. I do. But I'm just not convinced it's all about that. I think that Yeah, they do care someone about it. Yes, sure. Absolutely. More. I think about this, the more I think that there is a turd on that punch bowl, and that turd was laid in there or around this time last week when the Pac 12 had their players have a list of demands. Even to the Pac 12 presidents. I got a bad feeling that that's part of this. You know, the big 10. Some of those players followed suit. I just thought it was really interesting that today I see a report. Courtesy of ESPN is well, a stadium that Big 10 players from the Ohio State University have said, Hey, we're good. We love the guidelines. We are ready to play. It happens today as the president's air about Teo me of the Big 10. Something doesn't seem right. Something seems a little off. So it makes me wonder about that type of thing. If this is about and I do think there's a percentage of it what it is. I'm not sure there. There is a concern about people. There's a concern about health and safety. And it will. Certainly I'm sure we'll get the people in here so they can. They're 22 year old athletes. They're they're healthy horses. They'd be perfectly fun. I know, man. I know more than likely. Yeah, they'd be perfectly fine. And we've been talking about it for a while. It takes is one even if it were one. I don't know if that were to happen, Hell. My gosh, This is an ugly conversation have but we have to have it is that there are guys who die of heatstroke every year. In high school and college football, and it keeps going And I would wonder even if a person were to die from this in college football. It would maybe keep going. But when we're talking about a list of demands from players where they want compensation, where they want equitable treatment. Wonder if that's a little bit too much for the university presidents. They think, Okay, we'll wait. Maybe we'll wait till spring.

Ah, lot of people over the weekend sent me a an article A post in the free press Detroit Free Press from Mitch Albom. Talking about anti Semitism and why people have been so silent about the anti Semitism of the Sean Jackson. Very, very well done piece. But you know here that we have not been silent. We have discussed clearly and focus that Sean Jackson should not be fired because you have to end cancelled culture, But you have to note the bigotry. You have to note the people who support it. And you should note the people who are silent about it, if only because they have told you that silence is violence. And I noted The Indianapolis media. Yes, I admit there is no love Lost. You go to the Indy star who I'm going to speak about specifically now. And they will have articles all about. Carmel's troubled racial history and Carmel's struggle with racism, kid you not that's there. They're mentions of Sean Jackson zero. Zero. You know what I've got from Greg Doyle. Great. About the Sean Jackson nothing about not only the anti Semitism of an NFL player, but those people who are former players in the N B a in the NFL who rallied around him nothing. When a Morning host on a sports station that M s owns. I'll leave it at that. Engaged in conversation. Soon after the death of murder of George Floyd that was considered tone deaf, and he was suspended. There was the Indy star full on attack. There was Gregg Doyel. Why you need to drive your car even if you have nowhere to go
"His a story from the Detroit Free Press. Bit People were driving their vehicles so little. Many people are driving vehicles, so what all and there are people who were? Going days or even a week or more weeks without driving right now. And their vehicles are being taken over by new tenants. This is really. Awful but. Auto mechanics around the country are reporting. Vehicles are being very heavily damaged at great cost by rats and other rodents. Invading this spaces and unused vehicles. So. This is a quote from one mechanic that he has seen. Twelve to fifteen vehicles damaged this way. In the last six weeks. Because of. The rodents moving into vehicles. There was a story in the New York Times. About dealership that had five people call in one week to complain about rats living in their car engine. Oh my goodness so. I said it before about making sure. You're maintaining your vehicle. Back, getting out and driving it regularly and my oldest child. Did Not drive her vehicle for several weeks. And fortunately she did not have a rat eating in her vehicle, but her dad battery croaked. And her vehicle has the battery. And like the dumbest place ever back in the back. In the trunk. Where you have to go in through the trunk to put in the battery, but couldn't get in the trunk. Because the battery was dead, so her husband had to crawl through the vehicle. Fortunately, the second row seats full down crawl back through those take a one of those garage kind of spotlights. And remove the battery crawl backout. Go Get a new battery put it in. And then and had to put it in again without being able to get in the trunk so. Hear me now believe me later? You got to know that not driving your vehicle it all. Is, dangerous on many different levels are very inconvenient. So what kind of animals have been showing up vehicles? Mice, rats squirrels woodchucks. And possums. Man. That is no fun at all.

"Cash Enka coming up this half hour, the hot selling hidden vault that conceals guns and money in your car. Also the Facebook friends that moms do not want Plus who avoids showing their face on video calls, And here comes a penumbra ll eclipse tomorrow night will tell you about it in about 20 minutes. One of the hottest selling accessories right now for SUVs and pickup trucks, is a hidden vault that's installed in the center console. I can hold wallets, phones and guns. It's a story by Phoebe Wall. Howard, who reports on the auto industry for the Detroit Free Press, part of the U. S A today network. Phoebe, take us through this. Kind of an amazing Ah, development here. Where, because of Cove it as we know, the FBI data showed many, many more people are using conceal carry weapons these days, So you've got a company that is making these vaults and they've been around for quite a while. Her wallet and things like that, but frankly, they're encouraging people to put their guns in these faults. In the console in jeeps and trucks and cars. And the reason why this is significant is law enforcement says that gun fact is really a problem. Now, the more concealed carry permits. There are the more guns are being stolen. People pop them in the glove box. They put him under the sea. They go surfing. They go swimming. They go hiking and they leave weapons in the car. All right. So as one guy you spoke to obviously loves the top down and you know the windows dropped or whatever you call it on a jeep on me, and he says, everything is exposed on if you stick something in the glove box that's easily popped open with maybe screwdriver, Crowbar. What's incredible Two? Is that the Jeep Wrangler? Obviously, that's the buyer that you're talking about. But the keep Wrangler is it such a popular vehicle, and it's increasingly popular selling more and more. And if he said, you know, you're stuffing your pockets full of stuff. I mean, just going into the gas station, you know, going to think you can't leave anything because people could just what you know, walk by and take anything but you also have situations where people are doing Jury duty. You can't take in phones now. A lot of it where you have smash and grab. You know, we track in San Francisco in particular. Someone called me and said, You know, am I promoting gun you or this company targeting gun users. In fact, this company specializes in automotive used for vaults. There are many good vault company's But this one specifically meat packs for all these different car companies. And and that's why there seems to be a great desire for the product. All right, so the product is called the console vaults. How easily is it installed that fits inside and existing Consul, I guess. Yeah, you pop out the existing one. It gives you some easy direction. I talked to you. I cold called people who were customers. I didn't know what they would tell me. I didn't know any of the background and I talked to women who said they surprised the men in their lives. One of fiance want a husband and and put that in there in 5 to 7 minutes with very little stress or anxiety or trouble. So it's both Indians. But it provides instruction on how to do that. And again, I thought it would be much more complicated and intimidating, but it doesn't seem to be Ah, and again. This is just for security. Like why worry, I go paddling all the time. I go hiking, but I leave all my stuff. Um, one hiker called me and said nobody should be leaving anything ever And Ah, but But the fact is, people do, you know, especially when you go to the beach? Speaking with Phoebe Wall, Howard, she covers the automotive industry for the Detroit Free Press. Part of the U. S. A Today network. Her pieces called driving with a gun, hidden vault, concealing guns and money. Is hot selling accessory for pickups and SUVs. The vote I'm guessing is just for handguns. No, In fact, no no people if if you're in the entire every vault built for that particular vehicle, it's not standard side. So when it is ordered you give the make and model of your vehicles a jeep, a truck, a Toyota Camry. And they design it for that. So it fit very tightly and securely and then you know, it just stays in the car and for everything again, the original use of this was for papers. I spoke with one Woman hey, works in immigration and for work, and she has to carry passports and highly sensitive documents. And she said it is frightening. How much people lewd passports, traveler's and things like that. Phoebe Phoebe Wall Howard reports on the auto industry. For the Detroit Free Press. It is 20 minutes now. "And news is breaking just out the Detroit Free Press poll Biden holds a huge twenty four point edge over Sanders in Michigan take it with a grain of salt though Hillary had a twenty five point lead over Sanders in Michigan last time Sanders ended up winning Michigan's primary by one point four percent so you know could could Bernie have another miracle he better because if he doesn't well it could be a bad thing cut number eight it is I do think is his campaign has two weeks to live no proof that it's viable in the next two weeks Michigan and Ohio being to me the two biggest S. he's got it right that's Chuck Todd friend of the show giving about a fortnight to show that he's not a complete loser but again as of yesterday there really wasn't much polling had no you know I was almost I think Nate silver was on Twitter complaining about that and then we get this thing twenty four point a lot of Bernie loses Michigan anywhere north of twenty points that's a that's I don't think he gets a fortnight hi yeah I I think I don't think you walk there because he's got people like AOC behind about it let's cut one Michigan we have a Goliath in our country today the life of the fossil fuel industry the Goliath of big pharma the last the a big money in politics yeah I hate those guys you've made our life good and have saved our life I hate them so much that's Bernie Sir here here's the problem with Bernie Sanders people they are not bright they're just not socialism who's the guy who still think socialism is a good idea will Bernie Sanders and his followers now the Democrat party understands the establishment understands of Bernie Sanders is a disaster that normal Americans are gonna look at this question comic curmudgeon inside all heck no actually I might not say hack but I'm trying to remain SEC compliant he would he would make Walter Mondale look like LBJ over Goldwater he just got trounced so of course their salaries if we need to go by then they like to bind because he's frankly completely out of it and would be a wonderful popped for the establishment of the Democratic Party he would do what they say they they run the country he be on the rose garden chasing chasing that uppity squirrels who keeps looking at him through the window the yeah I feel Bernie Sanders supporter how are you feeling right now the feeling good feeling respected because I gotta tell you you've been broken and humiliated you have been betrayed you've been lied to yeah the establishment has made sure that the fix is in your voice has been silenced by Donald Trump though you're told Donald trump's the cause of all your problems but by your own party and what are you going to do but what about it are you are you just gonna take it are you going to let the establishment the corporate Democrat party because you know that the idea of Republicans as the party of big business cannot cannot all these fortune five hundred guys they all the top the politics of their second wife they're all Democrats and you you are going to obey the corporatist part that's what you're going to do Bernie Sanders is going to have this election stolen from him again when you gonna cry in warning and then you're going to obey exactly you are going to do what your commander because you're not smart because you support a socialist and your weak and cowardly I'm just gonna try to call names I'm just calling it like it is you're going to be abuse and then you're going to come back
Failed to pay taxes? If you make more than $100,000, the IRS may pay you a visit.
"You have an outstanding debt to the IRS in a move that criminals have to be so excited about. They can't even stand it. The IRS has announced they are going to send revenue agents to your home or business to try to get you to pay the money that you owe the irs. Now this is people who haven't filed a return or haven't paid taxes they owe or potentially going to see a visit from the irs. Now the problem with that is that people who are Crooks See. This is a huge opportunity to impersonate. Irs agents and show up at your home or business with a fake ID and fake demands for money that they're going to be randomize ing who they go after the crooks. You are probably somebody who doesn't even know money to the irs but it can be very intimidating if somebody shows up and says their revenue agent for the IRS and they want money from you so the IRS is targeting people who own their own business and people who make more than one hundred thousand dollars a year. But the crooks aren't GonNa go buy anything like that they're gonNa go after anybody and pretend that they're an irs agent now the IRS says that they're going to highly train these people who show up in person demanding money from you the IRS. Also says that they're not going to require that you buy any kind of gift cards or anything like that to pay the IRS. And you should know anybody who says that. Virtually any of the scams we deal with now that that is an automatic tip off that somebody is a scam. Stor where they say. You're supposed to buy some kind of Gift Card or Green Dot Card or whatever so. Your utilities aren't shot off or whatever it is or that you're in trouble with the court and you're supposed to know that that is scam. Stir one a one and if you're visited by somebody who pretends are actually is an irs agent. One way you'll know is a real irs. Employee is not going to demand that you turn over cash right then then. I can demand that you buy any kind of gift cards. And here's the other thing the. Irs has shows so short staffed that the number of people who actually be visited. Bilo jet IRS AGENT IS TEENSY. Teensy teensy tiny so no that somebody showing up. The odds are going to be overwhelming. That it's a scam. Stir impersonating the. Irs out a real agent. A real agent will try anything to get you to write a check to the US Department of the Treasury. They're not going to be trying to get you to hand them over cash or anything else like that. And the IRS told a reporter with Detroit. Free press that they'll be presenting a lot of ideda people to prove they're really an irs agents will what garbage that is because criminals. Play that game as well. So the most important thing whether it's a legit visit or much more likely fake visit. Don't be intimidated by anybody. Even if it's a legit visit the. Irs has a job to do a nasty job but going and knocking on people's doors. I think is wrong. Mean and stupid

Ford Owners Speak Up About Faulty Focus And Fiesta Transmissions
"Some Ford focus and fiesta models have some major transmission problems owners are not happy Phoebe wall Howard of the Detroit Free Press has talked to some of those folks and joins us now Phoebe or what are some of the problems these Ford owners seven having it's pretty incredible because we're hearing from people all over the United States and what they're saying is despite the fact that Ford Motor Company has dramatically extended warranty coverage the vehicles have such serious problems that the increase in warranty coverage just doesn't fix the problem the people are replacing the transmissions on you know five times eight times thirteen times in just a few years and you know I interviewed a man who had to drive home in reverse because the car wouldn't go forward he then took it back to Ford traded it in for bigger alone a different car that's the second problem is that people are finding you know I want to trade it in I've got to get rid of this and they're signing up for bigger loans to to get out of their first loan and so this is an issue where they're saying you know we just want a car that works we don't want to anyone we don't want problems but this you know there are a million of these cars on the road and and we're hearing like I said from people all over the country just saying they're hammered financially I talked to people this morning who said their wages are being garnished by Ford Motor Company that you know again they just want cars that work and they've had to pay for so many transmissions they're just broke Stevie Wonder these transmission problems pop up and how many cars do we know are affected well this is we're talking about two million consumers in the US alone affected Ford focus and fiesta the vehicles that are not manual the stick shift Dr great this is the automatic transmission controversial automatic DPS six dual clutch so there are over a million consumers to day wrestling with these issues and this is the current problem and and again they're they're pleading with dealerships all over the country in some ways the dealerships are doing the best they can you've got waiting lists for repairs when you will pay for them but these are follow the dollar hits left and right again and again and these were affordable car is targeting families who needed affordable cars to get to work to get to medical appointments and to get to school we're speaking with Phoebe Wahl Howard of the Detroit Free Press Phoebe what does Ford say about all this Ford says it's eager to help its customers that it values its customers and that trust of customers is paramount to the Dearborn based company so Ford says it's committed to making things right and wants to make things right but again we're hearing from people who only owned for a one man owned over twenty Ford vehicles and said he is now moving to monster and you know they're moving to kia and they're moving to Toyota and that's what they call it right to tell me they're loyal and they just can't trust the situation so Ford says it wants to do that do the right thing and encourages people to reach out if there's a problem the company wants to make it right so this is a very troubling situation that continues and were monitoring

supporting an inquiry that I thought it was time to come to have an inquiry and it goes on from there that's simply gets worse from there but it goes on from there I understand and I'm the guy who's been talking on there for so long now about how this great wrong that the Democrats are inflicting on Donald Trump and by direct extension all sixty three million plus of us who voted for him discreet wrong is going to create fire it's going to create an energy among his supporters not limited to the base but among his supporters many people voted form far beyond anything we have seen in modern American politics that is a great thing that is likely at this point to tsunami tsunami Democrats out of power all over the country and sweep trump to reelection if and what did I say last week crying if we can harness it if we can control it if we can ride it but if we let that fire that energy consumers and become like wild Banshees it costs us then we lose races that we should win because one of the best things we have going for us right now is whenever people they may look at us and we look at conservatives and a look at the president's Hey Hey I don't agree with him on this I don't agree with them and that I think they're over the line on this but when the alternative is that while bunch on the left wants them in power let's not give away their advantage you know that they're the wild ones who are out of control who censor who won't allow somebody to get up and state there because their belief their opinion no that's working for us don't become like them John in beautiful Memphis Tennessee was there a few weeks ago you're on the ten caplets show how you doing my friend eight game thank you taking the call Hey listen I want to give you just a quick background on me sponsor something you said earlier I'm a I'm a Gen you're retired veteran in a retired firefighter my call to saying would be in a veteran was in nineteen eighty rocks hostage rescue attempt in Iran wow your thanks for your service all right at every step that he should give you a little bit of a reference to how long I can on this third rock which probably two years longer than usual well you know I don't agree with you in one way or set up we don't have a voice the Democrats liberals the negative side they are constantly over over over with all the negative you have every major news outlets reported daily about how screwed up from this house moved up if conservatives are out also trump supporters are and you have very you undo such as yourself giving a voice to our site it worked hard on it there's an old saying it's always best should be nice until it's time to not be nice anymore we're approaching that time very rapidly at this point we need a voice how do we get our boys fox news is starting to fail us yeah the fact yeah yeah every day I see major Lawrence you fox news with the big picture eight if you're lucky spell your garbage hardly ever see the same coverage our site so how do we get heard all day now starting to fight fire with fire well and that's where I disagree and listen to your intensity is is what saved America in sixteen that's how Donald Trump one that saved America starting with the US Supreme Court so yeah it that in not the only way but a big weight is the voice that you're talking about but you know far better than I'd because you've served in apparently in combat you know far better than I that that that kind of the intensity and energy and and will to fight hi is only valuable if it's harnessed right if it if it causes one to become on disciplined and cross lines it becomes counter productive I agree with you on that but this is working or in point comes you're talking about are using it a step up and start to give us a voice to arms that we don't have to use out woods yeah bring our side of the story you step up we start back to work but the news outlets have the least important piece what I'm talking about in the way I think this energy is going to play out you get these big crowds to each of their town halls and you bring the signs and you talk to the press outside and then you you have your opportunity at the microphone in the meeting and then one of one one one of your own people is talking then you started to chant and and to me that kind of energy is positive and productive where I draw the line is shouting down the opponent because how does that help us you're right but that's just the frustration that we I'm going to count holes do people go to really get up to the microphone and you're given thirty section for sixty seconds her people that are not used to speak in the microphone it's difficult to bridge sorry your feelings not you're on it's not enough all right who's who's going to manage that now who's going.

"Story state and federal health officials have been investigating mysterious long illnesses linked to vaping the new update is that vitamin E. acetate is the focus of this investigation it's being found in high levels in samples that were tested that contain cannabis not in nicotine vaping products but the investigation still continues for more on this we spoke to Kristen Jordan Shamus she's a writer at the Detroit Free Press for that and also the first in the nation band on sales of flavored vape products in Michigan one day governor Gretchen Witmer announced in Michigan and emergency administrative rule based on the findings of the state department of health and Human Services which found that E. cigarette use and high schoolers had risen seventy eight percent from two thousand seventeen to two thousand eighteen and forty eight percent in middle schoolers and her concern and their health and safety and she said that a lot of the rape products in the E. cigarette products are marketed to kids Michigan already have a law that bans the sale of these products to people under the age of eighteen but the findings show that they're still using using those products yeah so everything's going to be eliminated all online and retail sailor sales of flavored vape products with the exception of tobacco flavored E. cigarettes. there how is this going to be implemented because I I saw that this only going to be a six month ban at first and then it can be renewed for another six months. the temporary ban and it's an emergency action and it'll be filed with the state department the secretary of state's office and once it's filed with the secretary of state's office which should happen in the next few weeks the battle become immediate for the last six months and then the governor may choose to renew it after another six months do you know why I was just six months are they trying to like you see if there's any change that happens it's a pretty short amount of time. it is a short amount of time but I think it's because it's this administrative rule isn't something that's going to the legislature is something that's been voted on and approved it that action is being taken from the highest office in the state now we've been hearing about the stories we've had two deaths related to this so far one in Illinois and then one in order again where they did say that it was because the person was smoking marijuana they products in Michigan specifically there's six lung infections that are being tied to vaping right now what we know about these cases. we don't know a whole lot about them the state department of health and Human Services joining with the national agencies to investigate no sex case and we know that all six people in Michigan were hospitalized they were all critically ill and they haven't been able to really pinpoint at least in Michigan Michigan cases one common cause might be. that's part of the whole problem with this that it's so difficult to really pinpoint what it is alot of people have pointed to the flavorings in these products because while they're safe for consumption human consumption we don't know the effects once they're Eris allies and inhaled the Washington post's just had a report out and this proves how complicated this is they have narrowed down on one contaminant they think that is in the Meryl one of the products specifically doesn't have doesn't even have to do with the E. cigarette ones and it's a derivative of vitamin E. vitamin E. acetate and it's was found in a lot of these samples that were taken from people that got sick and that we had reported having all of these you know this new lung disease out what we're looking into and it just proves how complicated is because we're working with two different things nicotine E. cigarettes and marijuana vape pen and it is pretty tricky to I mean they're just starting to research these things these products are relatively new and they haven't had the rigorous testing that a lot of other products have had that are on the market and the science just isn't there a doctor I spoke with yesterday was saying you know it takes decades worth of research to really have an idea of what the impact our long term of using these products and with the same with this season weren't where it really won't know for so long and we're barely starting to study it's really just coming to head with all this the other angle of this is with this band that's gonna go happened there in Michigan a lot is the small business owners vape shop owners are worried that they could lose their business a lot of them say you know just these they products themselves are about twenty percent of their businesses actually there are some that only sell the products and arguably they'll

"Grumbled about the size of your tax refund or even writing a huge check for your federal income taxes in April. Don't expect things to change without tinkering with a W four. And if you think the current form is a headache, get ready for a migraine with the new W4. form for twenty twenty so says, Susan Tom poor personal finance columnist at the Detroit Free Press. Susan. What do we have with this break? Now what we have our draft proposals and in draft forms. It may not change much more from this. And what the IRS is trying to do with this new W4., which is you withholding allowance of difficult. That's what you give your employer to say, you know, withhold XYZ from my paycheck. There are new sections in there that relate to your income, your other income and deductions, and this is where the complication will really ignite if you will, if you focus on this, the idea is the more better information you put in the better year withholding reflect what you actually. Oh, so things would even out, you wouldn't get a big refund, because she wouldn't have paid too much in, but you wouldn't know too much as well. But the problem or the challenge, if you will will be figuring out forecasting. You're other income projecting other income, and some people may not want to share that information with their employer because which is on for a of this new section with his other income, that's where you would be adding things like your interest or dividends. Maybe some if you had an inheritance it was all sitting in the Bank, that would be interested income, you may not want to share that with an employer. We're speaking with Susan Thome, poor personal finance columnist. The Detroit Free Press part of the USA today network. She's written a piece entitled, new confusing W four form is coming for twenty twenty. Wow. What about strategies? What are the pros say about whether or not to include your income to offer that up? Well, you know, they say in fairness, the IRS is trying to prevent under withholding but you know because if you do not withhold enough there, you can run up against a penalty p really writing out a super huge check. That means you didn't withhold nearly enough, but they're also saying, you know, there's other ways that you can get around it on this form, you can do the old shortcut and say withhold any additional amount to maybe you just want to withhold, you know, put that money, you know, put that dollar sign in there and forget about giving all the details, if you will. But you'd still have to work it out figure out how much other income, you'd want to withhold an easy way of doing that this year is perhaps, if you had to write out a check for. Say five thousand dollars and we're through the half year, you know, take out how many paychecks you have left and look at the size of the check he wrote, and then have more withheld, you know divided by the number of patriots. She have left in the air, and if it's two hundred or three hundred dollars paycheck, that.

Measles, CDC And Michigan discussed on This Weekend with Gordon Deal
"Outbreak situation? Someone who was born between nineteen fifty seven nineteen eighty nine. The CDC had these recommendations for one measles mumps rubella with called the vaccine. So if you were born in that range odds are that the doctor would have told your parents, you need one vaccine and you'll be protected, but in about my eighty nine the CDC change recommendations and said people need to vaccines to be fully and adequately protected from measles. Especially in an outbreak situation or a situation where they might be traveling nationally if they work in healthcare situation, or if they're in a, you know, educational institution or something like that where they're around a lot of people, and so that recommendation went through, but there are a lot of people who were born in that range who just might not have gotten that second back pain and ordinarily one vaccine is enough when you don't have an outbreak situation one vaccine will cover you it's, you know, more than ninety percent affective, but it outbreaks relation because me so. Contagious, you might need to. And so that's why doctors and health professionals in this area are saying, you know, we have an outbreak. Check your your record. Check your documents. If you don't have any documentation of measles vaccine, which a lot of people don't have, you know, I'm in my forties. And we don't have any documentation of my vaccines. They could just, you know, go get go get a shot or talk to your doctor about getting shot to make sure that that's the best thing for you to clarify. So so in nineteen eighty nine the CDC said you need you need the second one or you need the second one. If there's ever an outbreak. The CDC started routinely vaccinating children with two they started giving all children, you know, as as sort of like the recommendation, they'll say, okay, you'll get one between twelve and fifteen months old and another one between the ages of four and six so all children's started getting them right about that. And that offers the best protection. That's that is the best protection against meals to vaccines. But the problem is that there were. Quite a few people in that injury. Who never got that second dose and ordinarily that would not be a big deal. But in this situation, it is a big deal. So if you don't have documentation say, you're of, you know, forty plus like view in me can Guinea just call the doctor and say, hey, I just want to be sure can I get a shot. Yeah. Exactly. Call your doctor and have a conversation and say, here's here my concerns, and do you think that another vaccine would be a smart idea for me? And just make sure that that's the right thing to do. And the doctor can give you another vaccine or you can even go to the health department and get back in there. You can go some pharmacies. Also have them speak with Kristen Janus reporter at the Detroit Free Press part of the USA today network. She's written a piece entitled born between nineteen fifty seven and nineteen Eighty-nine. You may not be protected from the measles outbreak. Explain a little bit about what you're going through in in the state of Michigan where you are. Right. So here in Michigan. We've had we had a traveler come in. And that's the other thing to know is that measles with thought to be radically in the United States in two thousand. So we had vaccinated enough about population where we didn't have measles really affecting us all that heavily. It was usually brought in by someone from a country where they didn't do routine vaccinations across their entire population. And so that's what happened in the census at someone who was traveling. You know, came to the states, we believe that person or health officials believe that person picked up the the virus in New York City, which is also in the middle of outbreak. And then brought it here to Michigan, and then travelled around, you know, that south Oakland community in Michigan and spread it within the community without knowing that he was doing so, and, you know, had those sort of cold like coughing sneezing that sort of thing, and it wasn't until the rash broke out. And you know, there was this realism. Nation like, oh, no. And at that point the numbers just started to go up
Measles outbreak: Born between '57-'89? You may need vaccination
"If you had measles as a child or were born prior to nineteen fifty seven and are considered immune by the CDC double-check. And that's especially true. If you've been to a known exposure site, there's a chance you're not as safe as you think you are more from Kristen shameless reporter at the Detroit Free Press. Kristen what's up here in an outbreak situation? Someone who was born between nineteen fifty seven and nineteen eighty nine. The CDC had these recommendations for one measles mumps rubella, which is called the magazine. So if you were born in that range odds are the doctor would have told your parents, you need one vaccine and you'll be protected, but in about nine hundred eighty nine the CDC recommendations and said people need to vaccines to be fully and adequately protected from me, those especially in an outbreak situation or in a situation where they might be traveling internationally, if they work in healthcare situation, or if they're in a, you know, educational institution or something like that where they're around a lot of people, and so that recommendation went through, but there are a lot of people who were born in that range who just might not have gotten that second vaccine and ordinarily one vaccine is enough when you don't have an outbreak situation one vaccine will cover you it's you know, more than ninety percent affective, but it outbreak situation because meals is so. "Windows can be found in many of newer, higher end homes in suburban Detroit and throughout the country. But the construction might surprise you. They're made of shipping containers reporter, Christina hall at the Detroit Free Press has been looking at them. Chris what have you found? Well, we had heard about a home that was being built in Ferndale, which is one of the Detroit suburbs. And this is pretty high end, obviously, it's on the market for four hundred fifty thousand and this was interesting because this was apparently another home we had heard about a home in Royal Oak, which is a neighboring suburbs from Ferndale container home that was built several years ago that is occupied. And so I started doing a little research, and I found that home, and I thought this wine, and then I saw a couple of others. And I spoke to the folks toward the house wanted to see what it looked like. And when I spoke to one of the folks in in Ferndale. He said, yeah, we have. Handful of these going up, and then I talked to a builder. He said, yeah, we're doing a few here in Ferndale. We're doing something. Royal Oak we're talking to folks in Hazel park. And there's been some projects down in Detroit. But this seemed to be one of the first times, it was really picking up steam in the Detroit suburbs. And this these particular subjects we were talking about her in Oakland County, which is just you know, just across from Detroit. And it seemed like most of the development was there. The one of the folks did tell me that there was some interest in developing in McComb county, and that was also possibility for shipping container. How much be probably in a more rural area on some of the areas around the suburb here were more in evicting neighborhoods. Well, so what do supporters say are the benefits of a shipping container home? Well, some folks had said that these might be more durable because they're made of steel. I know the folks that I spoke with here the ladies they were using water per steel. So obviously, you have some talk of possibly a better quality home in terms of the the bones of the house, the structure, one gentleman. I spoke to happen to be in the neighborhood. He said, you know, well, they're wrote a proof, and I don't know. I don't have any proof of that. But I guess it's possible. So there was some potential of. Of strength and durability re- reusing Bob eco-friendly, and and being able to use something that, you know, oftentimes people see sitting somewhere. So you mentioned this particular home, you looked at in Ferndale four hundred fifty thousand dollars. I think it was five and a half shipping containers eighteen hundred square feet. Where's all the expense coming from? Well, some of it was one of the coaches that they wanted to do in the house. Okay. So some of the features that they were pointing out were a lot of the which which was mentioned here. It was talking about the reclaim would for our kitchen island. They also did reclaim would in the laundry area was like reclaim one. And then pipe the gaps were you know, as a handmade, but these were, you know, a steel and wood, and they were on a lot of that type of a more custom construction inside the home. There was tile in the kitchen, gleaners Thailand, the one of the bats at least. So a touches even on some of the door polls kitchen. Thanks, Chris Christina hall at the Detroit Free Press, thirty minutes after the hour on the Morning, America's First news..
